=Episode 29=

Qingmu,

do you think the True Gods really exist?

Sometimes, I want to ask them,

I didn’t do anything bad

during the 60,000 years,

but why people around me

left me one by one?

And my cultivation is failing.

You have to be saved

by the dragon core of someone else.

You’ve already done a good job.

You don’t need to comfort me.

It’ll be great if I can be a Goddess.

In that case, I can hold power.

With great skills,

maybe there won’t be that many worries.

Houchi,

we don’t need to always aim high.

We envy the True Gods.

But the mortals envy us, you know?

What’s more,

you’ve absorbed the spiritual power of the Pilgrimage Hall.

Becoming a Goddess is just a matter of time.

In the future,

the name of Goddess Houchi

will be famed across the Three Realms.

By then, thanks to you, I can be haughty.

Are you serious?

Of course.

But it’s a long time

before I become a Goddess.

I want to be haughty right away

and make a show of power.

No problem.

I will take you to travel the Three Realms

after the Queen of Heaven’s birthday

to show all of them

the elegance of Goddess Houchi.

Tomorrow, I will show all immortals

in the Heavenly Palace my elegance.

You will go to the birthday banquet?

Why?

You don’t want me to go?

Are you hiding something from me?

Of course, I’m not.

If you want to go,

I will go with you.

Don’t worry.

After this is settled,

we will return to the Qingchi Palace.

Father and Boxuan love me so much.

I’m sure they won’t blame me.

Houchi.

What will you do?

You mustn’t do stupid things for me.

I’m not stupid.

Trust me.

Your Grace, you haven’t recovered.

Please drink less.

It’s my own business.

How dare you try to intervene!

Why didn’t you stop her?

Your Grace.

Are you all right?

Just leave me alone.

Your Grace.

Go report to Her Highness and His Majesty

that Princess Jingzhao is in a faint.

- Yes. - Yes.

Her Highness knows

it’s not your fault.

You may leave now.

Thank you, Your Highness.

Your Highness, please take it easy.

I didn’t use too much spiritual power.

Her Grace will be fine.

But I don’t understand

what you want to do.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Mother,

what happened...?

Jingzhao lost her dragon core

and her immortal power dispersed fast.

I’m afraid

she can’t hold her immortal body for long.

Mother,

I’d like to transfer some spiritual power to Jingzhao.

Spiritual power is not enough.

I’m afraid

Jingzhao won’t survive

without the dragon core.

You may just leave.

I need to talk to your mother in private.

Yes.

Huan.

I’ve been thinking for several days.

Now I have a solution.

If I give my dragon core to Jingzhao,

I’m sure the problem can be solved.

No way.

As the saying goes among the mortals,

“Parents are the bones on which children sharpen their teeth.”

Now she has become like this.

It’s because I didn’t teach her well.

Muguang.

You are the Heavenly Emperor.

If you lose your dragon core,

the Demons will cast covetous eyes on

the leaderless Immortals.

What will our Heavenly Palace face then?

What will all the immortals do then?

Have you forgot

Master Zhiyang’s entrustment?

We’ve been married for years.

After giving birth to Jingyang and Jingjian,

I suffered a lot to have Jingzhao.

Do you remember that?

Of course.

I just conquered the Demon Realm.

Jingzhao was unborn.

It’s hard to build her Gold Dragon body.

You nourished her with spiritual veins

to keep her alive.

Jingzhao was being reckless,

which resulted in the painful consequences.

It’s indeed the bitter fruit of her own doings.

But it’s urgent now.

She and I are linked together.

I can’t just watch her

getting weaker and weaker.

Huan.

What are you doing?

I asked Lord Donghua about it.

He said the only way was

to let Qingmu suffer 49 thunder strikes

on the Green Dragon Platform.

But in that case,

Qingmu will...

You are responsible for all beings.

You’ve always been fair.

You’ve never biased for Jingyang and Jingjian.

I can understand whatever you do.

If you don’t want to be the bad one,

I will.

It’s my birthday tomorrow.

As your companion for so long,

this is my only request.

Jingyang.

Brother!

Don’t call me brother!

Jingyang,

I also feel sorry for Jingzhao.

But what is done is done.

It wouldn’t help even if you killed Qingmu.

Moreover,

he didn’t do that on purpose.

Why do you have to push so hard?

Because Jingzhao is my sister.

It’s my responsibility to protect her.

But you.

You told Mother

that Fengran is the one you love.

Is it real?

Yes.

When I was in the Abyssal Ridge Swamp,

if it were not Ziyuan who saved me,

I would’ve been killed by Fengran.

But you are in love with her.

Jingjian.

What on earth is on your mind?

If you still take me as your brother

and Jingzhao as your sister,

you should make a thorough break with them.

If not, don’t take me as your brother.

I don’t have a brother like you!

I didn’t expect though Houchi ignored her life

and forced her way into the Pilgrimage Hall,

she was still late.

I felt worried when I heard

Mother was going to the Pilgrimage Hall.

So, I left Qingmu to Jingzhao.

But I didn’t expect that would happen.

I feel sorry for Jingzhao.

But I don’t want Qingmu

to be in a dilemma, either.

You feel sorry for your sister.

I also feel sorry for Houchi.

I know the consequences

of giving up the spiritual root.

But Jingzhao is really shameless.

Qingmu can’t return the dragon core

nor keep it now.

Only love can’t be required.

But Jingzhao just doesn’t understand.

Forget it.

It’s not your fault.

Seeing Houchi and Qingmu suffering that,

I hate myself for being unable to do anything about it.

Lady Fengran.

There is a saying in the human world,

“Cross that bridge when one comes to it.”

Maybe

there is a turn for the better.

I hope so.

Your Highness, do you have something on your mind?

What do you mean by that?

When you feel happy,

you would call me Fengran.

When unhappy,

you would call me Lady.

You can’t hide your feelings

just like me.

I can’t believe Lady Fengran

observes me so carefully.

It’s because you saved my life.

Courtesy demands reciprocity.

Fengran is the girl I like.

Today, I don’t dare to let you in

and I can’t let you in.

She and I have

profound hatred.

But you are in love with her.

Look. When you smile like this,

you are no longer a wood face

and look very nice.

Smile more.

Thank you.

For what?

We are good friends. Good friends.

Come on.

Cheers.

You are awake.

It’s you... who saved me?

Sure. Nobody else is here.

What’s your name?

How dared you break in the Abyssal Ridge Swamp alone?

Do you want to die?

It’s not like you had a deadly sin.

Why?

Your family also abandoned you?

I...

Forget it.

Say no more if you don’t want to.

You are in this place now.

Learn how to protect yourself first.

Miss.

Please don’t worry about me.

Just go home.

I’m fine.

You are fine now

because I’m here.

But if I leave...

Look behind you.

You were scared.

You are too little

even to be their snack.

You actually smiled?

If a beast with greater spiritual power

comes to this wetland,

even I can’t protect you.

Miss.

Don’t worry about me.

It’s dangerous here.

Go home as soon as possible.

Home?

Here is my home.

Forget it.

I’d take you to hide in the cave.

Let’s go.

If the old man knows

I saved an immortal,

he will scold me.

Oh no!

The old man wants me to be back.

What’s this?

It’s a phoenix feather.

The old man uses it

to carry the information.

I have to leave now.

Miss!

It’s urgent.

I have to leave now.

Be careful.

Miss, your...

Fengran, when will you know

that I’m the boy

you saved at that time?

Have you heard that

the one from the Qingchi Palace would also come?

She made trouble at the birthday banquet

of Lord Donghua.

I wonder what will happen this time.

It’s been tens of thousands of years.

This is the liveliest feast.

The Heavenly Palace seems to take it quite seriously.

What? You don’t like it?

Fengran prepared quite a lot of garments for you.

Why did you choose this one?

After getting God power of the Pilgrimage Hall,

I began to like the things

related to the God Realm more and more.

Fengran said the style

was handed down from ancient times.

I like it very much.

So I wear it.

What a coincidence!

We have consonance to each other.

Look. My garment

is really

well-matched with yours.

Don’t preen yourself.

It seems something is missing.

What is it?

It’s the first time

I’ve seen a hairpin of this style.

It’s like one from the God Realm.

It matches your clothes perfectly.

You prepared it especially for me?

Come on.

How is it?

Do you like it?

You always cooked or gave me flowers

to please me before.

But why is it different this time?

I made progress.

Why don’t you praise me?

You made it by yourself?

Yes.

I don’t know why

I just wanted to

make a hairpin.

You seldom dress up.

So, you don’t know well about what a lady may like.

However, this hairpin is very nice.

It’s better than those made by ladies.

How could it be?

It seems

your praise is weird.

What do you mean?

Nothing.

You learned how to make a hairpin.

I’m very pleased about it.

Let’s go.

Happy birthday, Your Highness.

May you live happily and as long as Heaven.

Please rise.

It’s the Queen of Heaven’s birthday.

We are happily gathering here.

You don’t need to mind the rules.

Just enjoy yourselves.

Goddess Houchi

and North Sea Lord Qingmu have arrived.

Houchi and Qingmu are here

to wish you a happy birthday, Your Highness.

I’d like to tell all of you

that North Sea Lord Qingmu

and Princess Jingzhao were once in love.

That’s why Jingzhao gave Qingmu her dragon core.

His Majesty and I

then granted them a marriage.

But things changed

after just a few days.

Qingmu,

now that you insist on breaking off the engagement.

You should return Jingzhao the dragon core.

Your Highness, it’s ridiculous

for you to call white black.

Houchi.

Don’t be impolite

in front of the immortals

because you are in the name of Goddess.

It’s the Heavenly Palace here,

not your Qingchi Palace.

Your Majesty and Your Highness, I understand

you just want to protect your daughter.

So I won’t speak the truth here

to save your face.

My Qingchi Palace always repays

others’ kindness or debt.

Even if Your Highness

didn’t mention it, I would repay it.

Would you?

Then tell me

how.

My father, Gu Jun, has the body of a flood dragon.

I should be the same.

Jingzhao gave the dragon core.

I will return her one.

Houchi.

Are you crazy?

How could you cultivate yourself without it?

You will protect me.

I don’t have to cultivate myself, right?

After this is settled,

we will return to the Qingchi Palace.

Father and Boxuan love me so much.

I’m sure they won’t blame me.

Houchi.

What will you do?

You mustn’t do stupid things for me.

I’m not stupid.

You already made a plan.

Everyone knows the importance of the dragon core.

Have you thought it through?

A dragon core.

A spiritual root.

I’m willing to use it to settle the problem.

No!

We are a couple.

No matter what happens in the future,

we will face it together.

Houchi.

My dragon core?!

She is not Gu Jun’s daughter.

Houchi.

Who on earth are you?

His Majesty and every Lord have a core.

Gu Jun has the body of a flood dragon.

I have the body of a colorful phoenix.

If Houchi were really my daughter,

how could she not have a core?

In my opinion,

she must be a liar

who pretends to be a Goddess and brings disaster to the Heavenly Palace.

Mother,

in this case,

we may wait for God Gu Jun

and make a decision after investigation.

Jingjian, are you crazy?

She doesn’t have a dragon core.

It’s unnecessary to investigate.

If I can’t

be fair in front of the immortals today,

there will be more people trying to pretend to be Gods.

Qingmu.

How dare you wanton in the Heavenly Palace!

If you want to condemn her, you can always find a charge.

If I believe she is a Goddess,

then she is.

I don’t care what others say.

Enough.

It’s a birthday banquet.

The immortals are here to celebrate.

So, don’t make trouble.

Now you two

can return to the Qingchi Palace.

Muguang.

I said

enough.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

But now, I

don’t want to leave.

Everything happened

because of me.

But it’s Houchi who got insulted.

If we just leave like this,

maybe everyone

will doubt her identity.

What do you want?

Goddess Houchi was right.

We owe you a dragon core.

Then we will return it.

Your Majesty,

all immortals,

I’ll accept the 49 thunder strikes

on the Green Dragon Platform

and then return Jingzhao

the dragon core.

Qingmu.

Houchi, have faith in me.

It’s not about faith.

The thunder strikes may kill you.

I don’t want to owe others.

I just want to be with you forever.

If being with you

will kill you,

I’d rather

not be with you.

Houchi.

I won’t die easily.

Don’t worry.

Trust me.

Master.

What can I do for you?

I’ve got no news about Houchi for long.

I’m worried about her.

Gather men

and order them to go to the boundary.

You go to the Heavenly Palace with me.

If there is anything wrong,

we will attack the Heavenly Realm immediately.

Master,

please calm down.

We are not fully prepared now.

If we attack Wu Huan rashly...

If anything bad happens to Houchi,

all I’ve done through the years

will be meaningless.

This time,

I won’t allow anything bad to happen to her.

Qingmu.

Think it twice.

A few of the thunder strikes

will greatly hurt you.

Let alone it’s 49 of them.

I’m afraid you’ll be smashed to pieces.

It doesn’t matter.

Houchi!

Houchi.

Houchi,

what are you doing?

That’s...

Who has triggered the thunder strikes?

It’s...

It’s...

Houchi.

Just seven strikes

have hurt him so severely.

North Sea Lord is young and promising.

But sadly, you will die here today.

Houchi,

are you really willing to die with him?

Your Highness, please take it easy.

Even if I die here today,

I’ll have no complaints.

You’re asking for it!

Qingmu!
