Episode 12

Coming.

Mr. Lin.

Uncle Duan, how are you doing?

Come in, please.

Mr. Lei.

How are you doing?

Xiao Lin, there you are!

It seems you have just recovered.

Please do take care of yourself.

I’m getting old.

Without exercise,

I’m going to rust.

Xiao Lin.

You’re so unexpected.

What can I do for you today?

I’ve been deeply concerned about you.

So I just stop by.

I appreciate it. Thank you.

Here.

This club

is a global limited edition.

I especially

asked my friend to send it from America.

Only the professional player like you

can recognize it.

This is a little bit of my regard.

Please accept it.

A club.

Let me have a look.

It’s great.

What a good club!

Great！

As long as you like.

We’re on the same boat.

Let’s get this straight.

No big deal actually.

It’s for the Entertainment Center project.

Mr. Jiang always asks me

to help Mr. Lei as much as possible.

It’s just...

Just say it.

It’s just Mr. Lei has been busy recently.

Besides, he is very prudent at work.

Our Letter of Content

has been provided long time ago, but still no response.

The worst thing is we can’t find him recently.

Mr. Lei, you know that

opportunities don’t wait.

Xiao Lin, your concern is highly appreciated.

I’m telling you, Yuzheng is still young.

Please help him more in this project.

It’s my duty to help Mr. Lei.

Xiaosu, have a seat please.

How great you are!

Teacher Sun,

the children have been studying in such an environment?

There isn’t even a reading lamp.

Yes.

Only one generator was bought for the island last year.

so the children can only depend on it.

You still laugh!

The power is out again.

Hold on one second. I’ll go and find some candles.

Wait.

Where is the generator?

Why don’t you show me?

Uncle Shao.

You’re doctor.

You can repair the generator?

Let me give it a try.

Uncle Shao, you’re so capable!

Can you really repair a generator?

Why can’t I?

Shine the flashlight inside.

I saw it.

Did you see it?

Just like this one.

When I used to climb,

in the camp,

there were also old-style generators like this.

I still remember

we ran into a storm at that time.

I and another teammate

were in charge of fixing this.

Done.

How is it?

Miss Xiaosu.

You look down on me, don’t you?

Xiao Shanwa.

Are you still blaming me for sending your father away?

Actually I’m not Dr. Shao.

I apologize to you.

Then who you are?

I am Lei Yuzheng,

a friend of

Shao Zhenrong, Dr. Shao.

Dr. Shao has been to faraway places.

He asked me to come to see you.

But, don’t you worry, Shanwa,

I’ll find the best doctor

for your father.

Really?

Sure.

If you don’t believe me,

let’s make a promise.

Ok.

Siqi!

Honey!

Here you are finally!

I’ve been waiting for hours.

My heart is dying.

Isn’t the traffic terrible?

Are you saying I’m late?

No.

It’s my greatest honor to be waiting for you.

What happened?

You won the lottery?

Why are you so generous today?

Without winning the lottery,

can’t I

just be romantic with my beloved woman?

Make sense.

But, He Qunfei,

I am warning you.

Don’t mess around.

Or I’ll slap you to death!

What mess can I make?

I just wanna have dinner with you.

Really?

You have sweaty palms!

What are you nervous about?

Anything you failed me?

I’m not nervous.

I’m just excited to meet you!

Excited?

It doesn’t matter anyway.

Today I’m not in mood

to talk nonsense with you.

Today,

I have something important to talk with you.

I’m listening.

Do you have 100 thousand yuan?

50 thousand yuan is ok.

Why do you want so much money?

Anything happened to your family?

For God’s sake!

Can’t you wish me good?

Then what is the money for?

I’ll leave out the details.

It won’t be long

before I can count money in bed.

Wait a minute. Siqi.

We can’t take advantage of nothing.

Besides, my mother once said,

there was no free meal.

Even though there is, you can’t compete with a dog.

What are you talking about?

Only 100 thousand yuan, lend it or not!

Come on. At least you should tell me

what do you want the money for?

Lend it or not? One word!

No. No. That’s not what I mean.

I just wanna remind you

when Xiaosu made the down payment,

we offered our help in every possible way.

And there are also daily expenses.

I’m running out of money.

Look.

Look.

He Qunfei. Are you bluffing me?

This whine. This place. This service.

Which one of them is cheap?

I’m telling you!

I’ll make this investment!

You’re in or not, I don’t care!

Siqi, I can do something about it.

I didn’t say no!

I’m telling you, He Qunfei,

you’d better think it over!

No dating before you figure it out!

Siqi!

Hello. Welcome!

How much is such a beautiful ring?

This ring is so expensive!

So beautiful!

Shall we try it on?

No.

If I’m wearing it,

I’m not willing to take it off.

If one day,

you give it to me out of surprise,

perhaps I’ll marry you.

Assistant He.

What a coincidence! Mr. Lin.

Coincidence? I specially came for you!

What? For me? Why?

I wanna have a word with you.

May I have the honor?

Qunfei. I’m wondering

where Mr. Lei has been these days.

Mr. Lei?

He seems to be on holiday these days.

It is so weird.

Over all these years,

it’s the first time for him to be away on holiday.

What’s this?

Recently,

there are several big investment companies

that have been keeping a close eye on the Entertainment Center project.

Now that Mr. Lei is away,

you are his personal assistant,

how about

you

sign this proposal for him?

Teather Sun told me that

because of you,

Shanwa seems to have changed into another person.

I really can’t figure it out why

he likes you so much.

Do you still remember

I had a dream that night?

That dream, I only told you half of it.

The person I dreamed about that night

was actually my mother.

She left me long time ago.

My memories of her stay

when I was five or six years old.

Like Shanwa,

I don’t remember her looks for a long time.

I’ve dreamt of

meeting with my mother for many times.

But even I have no idea that

what if one day my mother suddenly stands in front of me,

what should I do?

Should I give her a hug?

Forgive her?

Or ask her

where she has been all these years?

All these years

have you ever been looking for her?

No.

I shouldn’t have told you this.

Perhaps she left you

for a reason.

Did she?

What do you think

can be the reason for a mother

to abandon her own son?

You’re willing to share your experience

and your story with me,

I’m very glad.

Xiaosu.

Actually I really want to thank you.

For what?

Thank you for listening to me.

Over all these years,

I’ve never told anyone

about this.

You’re the first.

We’re going back tomorrow.

I hope this trip

can leave you a good memory.

The memory is not only beautiful,

but also unforgettable.

Lei Yuzheng!

Lei Yuzheng! Come out!

Are you hiding from me on purpose!

Fanlv, here you are!

Uncle Duan. Yuzheng doesn’t answer my call.

He is not in the company. So I come to check on him.

Yuzheng left for business.

Business?

Where?

He said nothing.

When?

Two days and two nights if today counts.

It’s weird.

He has never been away from the company for so long.

Indeed.

Then I’m leaving.

I’ll let you know.

Thanks.

What?

I have to take a good look at you.

For what?

I’m starving.

Any food?

You!

You didn’t answer my call

or reply to my WeChat!

What have you been doing these days?

And you act like nothing happened.

Tell me!

What?

What have you been doing these days? Be honest.

I’ll tell you when I am full.

He Qunfei also called for you.

He mentioned that your boss was also absent.

What happened?

Really?

It seems that we two

do have strong sense of being.

You two?

You mean

you have been with him these days?

Yes.

How can I forget this?

Stop eating!

He didn’t do anything to you, did he?

What can he do to me?

But I have found out that

Lei Yuzheng also has another side.

Another side?

What side?

Lei Yuzheng,

he is actually a pretty nice person.

Well, I am full.

I’m going to take a break.

No way!

You have to make it clear to me!

Don’t keep me guessing!

Sit down!

Aren’t you short of money recently?

It’s no big deal.

Only for the formality.

There is no risk.

If you sign this project proposal

for Mr. Lei,

as for the benefits,

you know.

I’m telling you！

I’ll make this investment!

You’re in or not, I don’t care!

Oh my God!

The boss of Yutian

went fishing with you on a desert island.

He also fixed the generator!

Did I get it right?

No, you didn’t.

I’m surprised, too.

When he is in the company,

nobody dares to make a noise when they meet him.

But these two days on the island,

I don’t think

he is distant.

He is pretty considerate.

And he’s also good at taking care of children.

No wonder.

He Qunfei is so supportive of him.

It seems Lei Yuzheng

indeed has another unknown side.

Du Xiaosu.

What’s that look on your face?

The look is not right.

What look?

Aren’t you...?

What are you thinking about?

We are different people.

We’ll never be crossed.

Fine.

Xiao Lin.

Have you solved the problem of funds?

Mr. Jiang.

I was just about to report it to you.

At this point,

The fact that Lei Yuzheng left for business

is really strange.

Why?

These days I’ve been promoting

the financing of the Entertainment Center.

I handed in the project proposal as early as possible.

I also asked his father to advance the project personally.

What about Mr. Lei!

He didn’t give me a definite answer,

and also avoided me.

Do you think it’s normal?

Xiao Lin.

I appreciate your prudence.

But

it’s not as serious as you think.

As the deputy,

you have to do your best to help Yuzheng.

Don’t worry about anything else.

But Mr. Jiang...

I understand your concern about Xinsheng.

But it came to my mind recently,

it’s no good for us to make things difficult for Yutian.

Think about it.

If Yuzheng becomes my son-in-law,

then Yutian and Xinsheng

will be one family.

The Entertainment Center project

will progress naturally.

Fanlv is my beloved daughter.

Lei Yuzheng is a good man.

If they can be together,

that’ll be the best.

Xiao Lin, what do you think?

You’re right. Very good.

Dad. Why did you call me back

in hurry?

Yuzheng.

Where have you been these days?

Now is the crucial moment

for the promotion of the Entertainment Center project.

Everyone is looking for you.

Xiao Lin even came home to ask about you.

The Entertainment Center project is my wish.

It is also a very good project for you

since you took over Yutian.

If it’s done,

you’ll be more convincing in front of the shareholders.

Do take it seriously!

Dad. This project is too big,

and also need a large amount of investment.

The investment of Xinsheng

might be far from enough.

So

I’ve been working on financing

these days.

But don’t worry.

I’ve already had solutions.

Good.

Now that you’re confident, I won’t interfere much then.

But you have to remember

both courage and strategy are required for great achievements.

Only in this way can you convince others.

Of course, strategy comes first.

Fine. Dad.

I won’t let you down.

Don’t worry.

One more thing.

I wanna ask you.

Yes?

Don’t you think

it is too quiet for you

to be alone at home?

Quiet?

Isn’t Uncle Duan around?

Well, I know what is in your mind.

You want a partner.

You brat. You dare make fun of your dad.

I mean,

you should make schedule

for your marriage now.

I swear, if I don’t push you,

You want me

to take my wish to be a grandfather

to the coffin, don’t you?

How is everything going between you and Fanlv?

It’s fine.

Fine? Tell me then,

what is your plan?

What plan?

When are you going to get married?

Dad...

Our Entertainment Center project has just started.

And it is the difficult time.

Fanlv just came back.

Besides,

It’s not as easy as looking for clothes or shopping for cabbages.

Take it easy.

Take it easy?

Look at me now.

Perhaps someday I got sick again.

By then I can’t even

hold my grandson!

How can I take it easy?

Take it Easy. Dad.

You’ll have you grandson, as well as your granddaughter.

You always make a fool of me.

Just go!

By the way.

When you’re available, check on your Auntie Shao.

I’m wondering

how she is doing on her own now.

It’s been difficult for her.

I’ll check on her in a couple of days.

Good afternoon, Mr. Lei.

Good afternoon, Mr. Lei.

Is it available here?

Mr. Lei?

Why are you here for dinner?

Private visit?

Why can’t I come here for dinner?

Mr. Lei, are you here for dinner?

Why do I feel that

you’re here to let me offend others?

What do you mean?

Look around.

Are you worried about this?

Then what are you going to do to protect yourself?

I dare not provoke, but I can run away.

I’ll take the exit strategy.

Wait.

For the children on the island,

I’ve ordered a generator made abroad.

Give a call to Teather Sun

and let him know.

Really?

I know you’re the most kind-hearted person!

I know it!

Allow me to thank you for the children.

Wait.

You wanna pull me off with one word?

What else do you want?

Sit down.

Finish this meal with me.

Isn’t this too much?

Xiaosu.

Can’t I have the honor?

You two seem having fun.

Fanlv.

Yuzheng.

Where have you been exactly these days?

You didn’t answer my call or reply to my WeChat.

I’ve been worried about you.

Excuse me, Mr. Lei, Miss Jiang.

You must have a lot to talk.

I still have work to do. I’m leaving.

Still not enough? She’s gone.

Fanlv. Why are you here?

I want to ask you about it, Yuzheng.

As the boss of Yutian.

why do you suddenly come to the staff canteen?

Can’t you just be caring the staff?

Or is there another reason?

What’s the matter that I come to the staff canteen? It’s mine.

What’s wrong with me

having lunch with my staff?

Fine. I’m your staff.

Can I have the honor

to have dinner with you?

I haven’t seen you for days.

There is a lot work

I need report to you. How about tonight?

Fanlv. I’m not available tonight.

How about another day?

I know you’ll pull me off.

Come on. I’m really not available tonight.

Next time. Ok?

Yuzheng!

Zhenrong, if time could go back,

I would like to exchange my life for yours.

I’ve been thinking these days.

What if I tried my best to stop you

from leaving for Yunnan,

would you still be able to

stand in front of me, safe and sound?

We can do fencing again as usual,

drink,

and imagine our future under this tree.

Imagine the picture that we grow old together.

Yuzheng is here!

Mrs. Zhao.

Is Aunt Shao at home?

She’s in there.

Aunt Shao. Aunt Shao.

Yuzheng.

Come here.

Let me have a look at you.

You’re not going anywhere today.

I’ll cook your favorite steamed perch!

Mrs. Zhao.

Go get some vegetables and a fresh perch.

I’ll cook Yuzheng

his favorite steamed perch

and the hairy crab.

Yes, ma’am.

Thank you, Mrs. Zhao.

Is this

you home?

Yes. Let’s go inside.

Come on.

Why don’t you tell me in advance?

Yuzheng, I haven’t cooked for a long time.

I don’t know whether it’s the taste.

All of these are your favorite. Help yourself.

Thank you Aunt Shao.

I’ve been around all day.

I miss this taste.

Compared to the fish at any restaurant,

your steamed perch is always the best.

You two

scrambled for the fish

every time you ate at the table.

I remember that Zhenrong

put all the fish bones on the table,

pushed them in front of me,

and ran to tell you that

I had eaten up everything available

and he had nothing.

You two were just like monsters

when you were kids.

All neighbors were scared of you.

You two really caused me a lot of troubles.

Aunt Shao. You’ve just recovered

and you can’t stand the cold.

Take care of yourself.

I’ll come by when I am available.

Bye bye.

Yuzheng, I know you’re busy.

But come by when you’re available.

Zhenrong is gone.

It’s more or less a comfort for her to see you.

I got it. I’ll come by often.

I’m leaving.

Did you order the flowers?

No. It has been a while.

Every few days

someone will leave carnations at the door.

Do you know who send the flowers?

I’ve never seen anyone but flowers.

Miss Du.

What a coincidence!

Mr. Lei? Why are you here?

If I’m right,

shouldn’t your home be far away from here?

I’m just hanging around.

I came here before I knew it.

Did you send the flowers?

Yes.

Then I’m right.

I don’t know why.

When I see the carnations,

I guess they should be from you.

I don’t remember

how many times I’ve sent flowers.

I seem to be used to it.

I’ll think of this place every few days.

I just put the flowers at the door.

And then look at them far away.

Every time as long as I saw someone take the flowers away,

I felt a lot more peace in my heart.

I know it’s stupid.

But I’ve been used to it.

I can understand you.

Really?

Can you really understand me?

Actually it’s not only for Zhenrong,

but also for me.

I’m afraid Aunt Shao doesn’t want to see me.

I know both of us need time.

But anyway,

she is Zhenrong’s mother.

In my heart

she is my mother.

I hope every time she sees the carnations

she can be reminded that

there is another child who loves her as much as Zhenrong

and is still loving her.

I’ll be pretty content this way.

There’s one place,

if you like, I’d like to take you there.

Let’s go.

Who is that?

I’ve never seen such a knock!

Aren’t you tired?

Dear landlord!

Come in!

Come in, please!

Why do you visit in person?

Did we just pay the rent?

It’s not about the rent.

In what way can I put this...

I wanna tell you that...

Mr. Li, please don’t raise the rent anymore.

This is already our limit.

I understand.

You young girls left home for living.

It is pretty difficult for you, isn’t it?

Yes...I know you’re a good person.

I promise!

If one day I and Xiaosu become rich,

we will pay you back!

I appreciate it.

Miss, about the apartment,

we still need a discussion.

About the apartment...

You still want a raise?

I’m not talking about the rent.

What I wanna say is...

Stay out of it!

One beautiful girl

made you lost for words.

Ma’am.

Why are you here?

That’s it. Miss.

Let’s get this straight.

We’re going to sell this apartment.

Sell it?

Are you kidding?

We have been behaving ourselves.

How can you just sell it?

Xiao Zou, I’m going to divorce her.

This apartment has to be sold, doesn’t it?

Divorce?

Who is divorcing?

It’s still a divorce though it is fake.

I’m telling you that I’m going to sell this apartment.

And then I’ll buy another one.

The price of the apartment along Huangpu River

has increased a lot, are you aware of that?

Move out! I’ll take the apartment back in three days!

You always keep looking. What’re you looking at?

Still not enough?

Have never seen a pretty girl? Come with me!

Come on. Ma’am.

You made her cry...

You did!

What’s wrong with you?

What does your divorce

have to do with this apartment?

He Qunfei!

Come over right now! I’m in trouble!
