It was crazy. I have never seen that before in my life.

Follow me as I bring a little magic into people's lives.

My name's Steven Frayne but most people call me Dynamo.

It always amazes me how things can change in an instant.

As my feet touched the cold water of the Thames last summer,

I never could have dreamt what would happen next.

(CROWD CHEERING)

he's fast becoming the most talked about magician in the world.

DYNAMO: I was in London's West End.

I wanted to try something with some of the people I met.

All they had to do was shake my hand.

I take the phone and first I shrink it.

So that's how you get it into the bottle.

And then you need to take it and you need to make it bigger again.

(ON LOOKERS EXCLAIM)

Now you've got to smash the phone and the bottle to get it out.

But it's the people who live here that make the city's heart beat.

When I'm in town, I always drop in on my nana and gramps to see how they're doing.

DYNAMO: The Greenwood Pub is my family's local.

what I were throwing before I threw them.

DYNAMO: I've been trying to impress my nan for the last 20 years.

DYNAMO: My life has changed so much over the past few years

but it's good to know that my friends are along for the ride.

Despite crashing my car in Austria...

Must've changed lanes.

Gilera somehow managed to blag his way into becoming my driver.

Blast-off! (LAUGHING)

And whenever I come home, I always catch up with my two oldest mates,

Marcus and Johnny.

It's that long ago I don't remember when I first, first met him.

In fact, you know what? I do.

We were hanging out, just skateboarding, just having fun, you know what I mean,

and obviously he turned up, lived on the estate over the road.

DYNAMO: On this particular evening,

we were on our way to a nightclub on the outskirts of Bradford.

What is this party?

My friend's from London, Mr Silence,

he's come up and he's DJing there.

I don't really know what it is but, you know...

Have you got us some VIP tickets?

Yeah, we'll go up on the stage in the DJ booth with him, innit?

- Oh, let's not. - On the stage?

DYNAMO: When we were younger, it was always tough getting into places.

The bouncers would always hassle us

and I used to perform just to get us through the door.

Now things are different.

DYNAMO: The problem with nightclubs nowadays isn't the getting in.

It's the getting out.

But no matter what's in front of me,

I always find a way to leave by the front door.

(ALL EXCLAIMING)

We were just on a night out and all of a sudden we saw Dynamo on the stage.

WOMAN: I thought he just like knew the DJ and he were getting on with him.

I was like what's he doing, what's he doing? He flies over everybody.

I was like, "Oh, my God."

He just dived over us. It was like Batman, it were weird.

(ALL SCREAMING)

He's got this kind of magnetism to him.

(ALL EXCLAIMING)

Literally, in seconds he was clothes.

DYNAMO: I travel so much nowadays, it seems like my feet hardly touch the ground.

From city to city...

country to country,

I watch as the world flashes before my eyes.

Sometimes, it all feels like a dream.

I often fall asleep. And when I wake up,

the whole world around me has changed.

Sometimes, I wonder how I ended up here,

at a pool party, in the middle of the desert, with all these people.

It all seems like a blur.

But before I know it, I'm back on a flight to the next destination.

I had arrived in the historic city of Venice

at the start of the World Poker Tour.

Venice is one of the most beautiful cities on Earth.

It feels like you've stepped back in time.

Sometimes it's nice to get out of the madness of London

and visit somewhere that's a little more serene.

How are you doing, girls?

- This is crazy. I've seen all of your videos. - And me.

- Will you write on my arm? - I'll never wash it off.

GIRL: Absolutely crazy.

(LAUGHING)

DYNAMO: I love my fans,

but they always seem to turn up when I least expect it,

like this group of Welsh students.

We were looking for a museum and then we were like, "Oh, my God, that's Dynamo!"

- I've seen his magic and... Ooh! - Yeah, me, too.

The World Poker Tour was taking place at the Casino di Venezia,

the oldest casino on the planet.

It's crazy to think people were visiting this place in the 1600s.

DYNAMO: As the tournament got underway,

you could feel the electricity and tension in the room.

These were big money games and it was just a question of who would crack first.

I was pretty confident I could beat anyone in the room

but, understandably, they wouldn't let me enter.

During a break, I caught up with one of poker's newest stars, Giovanni Rizzo.

Although I wasn't allowed to play, I still wanted to put my skills to the test.

Are you playing in the tournament today?

I am playing in the tournament, yeah. I'm still in right now.

- Still in right now? - Yes.

You must be feeling confident. if you can walk away for a little while and come in here...

I mean, it's a big occasion to see the magic here, so... I'm a big fan.

Absolutely.

I was always sceptic about these kind of tricks,

but when you're actually seeing what's happening, it's impressive.

He's got this kind of magnetism to him.

You know, the way he looks at you,

it's a little bit harder trying to concentrate

and not give it away, but I guess he did it.

DYNAMO: Venice was great fun

but as the World Poker Tour came to an end, it was time to head back home.

Nowadays, my life seems to move at the speed of light,

with every movement caught on camera.

It's funny, we live so much of our life through the screen of a mobile phone or a computer

it's easy to forget how amazing the real thing is.

I want to try something using my phone.

You can actually find the balancing point on a phone.

Right there, you can actually balance it. That's pretty cool, right?

Yeah? if you practise, you can take it a step further and you can...

DYNAMO: I was visiting a studio in North London

to meet one of my favourite recording artists, Labrinth.

But he's done it with his mind in some way.

I've got to tell you, I'm definitely a sceptic, but today he's made me a believer, man.

It is literally magic.

DYNAMO: I had the world at my feet. I was living the dream

and it seemed like nothing could stop me.

But suddenly, everything changed and my life was turned upside-down.

My grandpa, who had raised me and given me the belief to follow my dreams,

became extremely sick overnight

and was given days to live by the doctors.

As soon as he found out, he was up North, at his side,

didn't hesitate to get back up.

Just came home and just spent time with him, to be honest, just to say goodbye.

Ken brought him up from quite a young age, taught him everything he knew.

He got him into magic. He even taught him how to swim,

ride a bike, everything, you know what I mean?

He were the life and soul of the party, always smiling, always laughing, joking, giggling.

DYNAMO: On Wednesday, the 29th of February, 2012,

my grandpa, Kenneth Walsh, passed away.

GILERA: You can tell when you speak to him

he's a bit more subdued and a bit more thoughtful.

JOHNNY: It's a brave face, I think. I think it's affecting him more than he likes to admit.

It's been hard to know that someone that he's cared about so much has gone

and he's got to fill that void and it's just trying to help him, really.

JOHNNY: I think Ken would have wanted him to have a bit of a cry

and get over it sooner rather than later, don't drag it out,

and then obviously get back to what he's doing,

because it's all thanks to him why he's doing it.

DYNAMO: After my grandpa passed, I locked myself away in Bradford for weeks.

I didn't want to see anybody or hear from anyone.

It was like the magic had died with him.

It was a long time before I performed any magic again.

But slowly, I started to venture out and let the cameras back into my life.

There are still parts of Bradford where Pm not recognised and people don't know my name.

It allowed me to get back to the roots of my magic.

Wow.

DYNAMO: A month later, I finally headed back down to London,

where Labrinth had invited me to his acoustic show

at London's biggest music store, HMV.
