(upbeat music)
- Are you sure you don't want
to open an interest-bearing account, Mr. Gallagher?
- [Fin] No, thank you.
- We offer very attractive rates,
especially on larger deposits.
- [Fin] That won't be necessary.
- You know, dollar bills, they're like rabbits.
- What do you mean?
- They love to multiply.
As long as you let them do their thing.
- Well, when I'm ready to let mine run wild,
you'll be the first to know.
(banker laughs)
- Do you have the key?
- Right here.
- [Banker] Don't lose it, it's the only copy.
- Don't worry, I won't.
Do you mind if I use your office for a minute?
- Of course not.
(dramatic music)
(phone beeping)
- [Risa] Hello?
- What are you wearing?
- My old stinky gardening clothes.
- I love it when you talk dirty.
- How's the weather in Denver.
- [Fin] Snow's finally stopped.
The airport's reopened.
They're saying my flight will get off the ground
in about an hour.
- So you might actually make the dance after all.
- By hook or by crook, wouldn't miss it for the world.
- Anita will be so relieved. Do you want to talk to her?
- I'm afraid I'll miss my flight.
Just tell her daddy's on his way.
Go on without me though,
I'll meet you at the country club as soon as I can.
I better get going.
- Okay, have a safe flight.
Love you.
- I love you too.
I'll see you tonight. - Bye.
(phone clicks)
(birds chirping)
- [Anita] Risa!
- Oh hi, it was your daddy on the phone.
He's no longer snowed in.
- He's coming?
- Yep, he'll be a little late, but he's coming.
- Awesome!
Don't forget you promised to help me with my hair.
- [Risa] I know.
- But Lenny's picking me up at seven.
- I'll be right there.
(upbeat music)
- [Man] Don't forget, you'll be the mail drop for this one.
(gentle music)
(horns beeping)
- [Risa] No, no, no, I don't have any spare change.
- No trouble, okay.
(phone ringing)
- Hello.
- What are you wearing?
- Black. - Mm, low cut?
- [Risa] Very.
- Are you alone, Mrs. Gallagher?
- Not exactly, Mr. Gallagher.
Another man happens to be looking down my dress as we speak.
- Oh really, married four months
and already you're cheating on me.
- While the cat's away, what can I say?
- Do I know him?
- Let me describe him to you.
He's got bad teeth and I can smell him with my window up.
- [Fin] Where are you.
- Somewhere on Industry Avenue getting my windshield cleaned
against my will.
- [Fin] Are you nuts?
That's the most dangerous section of town.
- I know, but the traffic on the freeway was a nightmare,
so I though I'd try a little shortcut.
So much for bright ideas.
Where are you?
- SFO.
I'm in my car, inching out of airport parking.
You should see the traffic here.
It's bumper to bumper.
- Well it looks like we're both gonna be late
for Anita's big night.
- Forget being late, I'm worried about you.
Do you have your gun in the glove box?
(dramatic music)
- Like always, but don't worry, I'm a big girl.
- In all the right places.
- (giggles) Keep your mind on the road, darling.
- (laughs) Okay, I'll see you at the dance.
- [Risa] See ya.
(upbeat music)
- [Gelby] How are you tonight, Mrs. Gallagher?
- Gelby, tell them not to scratch it this time.
- [Gelby] You got it, Mrs. Gallagher.
Hello sir, good to see you again.
Hi, I haven't seen you here in a long time.
Nice to see you.
Hello.
Nice to see you this evening, sir. How are you today.
- Thank you. - There you go.
Have a good day.
Come on, come on, it's the pedal on the right.
Good evening, ma'am, you look well.
Good evening, Mrs. Gallagher, nice to see you again.
- Hello, Gelby.
Busy night, huh. - Tell me about it.
How are you this evening, ma'am?
Good evening.
Welcome to the club.
* Tell me why *
* My love is hot *
* This ain't no game *
* Take a trip to the town *
- Anita, hi!
* Searchin', searchin', searchin' oh *
* Searchin' for love *
* Feel my desire *
* Tell me why *
- Well, look who's here.
- [Risa] Eva you look beautiful.
- Thanks, you're not so bad yourself.
- What about me, darlin', how do I look?
- [Risa] You're always the winner, darling.
- Oh, you're too kind.
Risa, you're sitting right here.
Let me get that chair for you.
There you go.
Oh, have you spoken to Fin.
He's coming straight from the airport.
- That's good, we get to work on the McMann case.
Get it ready for Monday morning.
- Brett, you promised.
- What? - No work tonight.
I don't want to hear another word.
- All I'm sayin' is I'm just happy Fin's back,
that's all darling.
- Me too.
- To your good health and yours, sugar, cheers.
- [Risa] Brett?
Before Fin gets here, can I ask you something?
- You heard Eva, there ain't no more business tonight.
- This new lawsuit of Kit's. - Uh huh?
- She can't win, can she?
- Of course not.
She already got half of Fin's money out of the divorce.
- Well let me tell you ladies somethin',
this here is the state of California,
and anyone can win anything at anytime,
now don't you ever forget that.
- [Waiter] You're welcome.
- Uh oh.
We got company.
- Get your armor on, baby.
- Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes.
- Hello, Brett, how are you.
- Just fine.
- Eva.
- Hello, Kit.
- How are you?
- Hello, Kit.
- Hello, Risa, beautiful dress.
It's too bad they didn't have it in your size. (laughs)
- Please, let's be civil.
- Kidding, kidding, kidding.
Lighten up. (laughs)
- Well wasn't she a breath of fresh air.
You know, I liked her much better when she drank bourbon.
(Eva laughs) Well it's the truth, isn't it?
(women laughing)
- [Gelby] Good evening, Mr. Gallagher.
- Hey, Gelby, seen my wife around.
- [Gelby] Yes, sir, both of them.
- Should make things interesting.
(Gelby laughs)
* Cha, cha, oh, somebody got moves *
* Looks like somebody gots it *
- Your partner in crime's just arrived.
- Excuse me. - Well look who's here.
- I've got the best looking date tonight.
- Yeah, who?
- [Risa] The man I love
and the man I've missed for two days.
- Oh, I've missed you too.
Let's get out of here, go home and make up for lost time.
- Oh, I don't think your daughter would appreciate it.
- I'm not sure she'd notice.
- Well, well, well, well.
Would you look at the newlyweds,
aren't you two just the perfect little couple.
- Hello, Kit.
- Fin, why didn't you buy our daughter a new dress.
Does my alimony check got you to strapped this month.
- I like her dress.
- Really?
That old thrift shop rag, please.
- It's an antique that belonged to my grandmother.
Anita tried it on and loved it.
- My daughter's never looked more beautiful.
- Fin, good taste has never been your strong suit.
- Kit, why don't you go hang out
at the bar like flies are supposed to.
- Better watch out, darling, he's got a habit
of promoting his temp secretaries.
Devon Peterson was before you
and they'll be another one after you.
- [Fin] Just ignore her, honey.
- Daddy!
Hi!
Oh, I missed you.
- Go on, enjoy yourself. - Okay.
- Hi, Brett. - Welcome back, partner.
We'll talk later.
- Good evening, Miss Peterson.
- Could you give this note to Mr. Gallagher for me?
- Sure.
- Discretely.
- Of course.
(people chattering)
Mr. Gallagher, a note for you.
- But nobody has to be in by midnight.
Come on.
- I don't think so.
- Okay, let's go ask Dad.
- Okay, have it your way.
Uh oh.
I know that look and I don't like it.
- Emergency.
- Oh no.
- Daddy, everyone's going to the all-night diner later,
can I go, please?
- She wants to stay out til one o'clock.
- Two. - Two.
- Yeah, fine.
- (giggles) Thank you!
Tell you all about it later.
- Okay.
- I'm sorry, I've been working
on something that will mean a lot to both of us.
This weekend we'll go to the cabin,
we'll hide out, just the two of us.
Okay?
- Okay. - Okay.
Good night, Eva.
- He's leaving already, he just got here.
- Sometimes I don't know if he's married
to me or to his work.
- Well join the club.
(quiet jazzy music)
- Usual.
- [Bartender] Coming right up, Mr. Gallagher.
- Hello.
- So where have you been.
- At my daughter's dance.
- Don't be cute, Fin.
Like where were you last night?
- I was someplace nice and warm.
- Doing what, exactly?
- Feeding my rabbits.
(crickets chirping)
- It's not the battery, Mrs. Gallagher.
The jumper cables didn't work either.
- Oh, can I use your phone?
(phone beeping)
(phone ringing)
- [Fin] You've reached the Gallagher residence.
If you wish to leave a message
for Risa, Anita, or Fin, wait for the beep.
(phone beeping)
- Are you there?
Dammit, Fin, where are you?
It's not enough that I had to put up
with your ex-wife's insults all night,
now I'm here all alone and my car is dead.
I could kill you for walking out on me tonight.
- Shall I call a tow truck, Mrs. Gallagher?
- No, I'm too tired for this.
I leave it here.
Call a cab, would you Gelby.
(ominous music)
Thank you.
(car door thuds)
(dramatic music)
(clock ticking)
Fin?
(dramatic music)
Fin?
Fin, are you up there?
Fin?
(tense music)
Fin!
Fin!
Oh my God, Fin!
Oh my God, oh my!
(door clicking)
- [Anita] Thanks for ruining the whole night.
I saw you with her, Lenny, so just leave me alone, go away!
(door thuds)
Daddy?
Risa, I'm home!
(Risa crying)
- Anita, Anita, don't come in, honey don't come in,
something horrible has happened.
Call an ambulance, quickly!
(Anita screaming)
(birds chirping)
(siren wailing) (people chattering)
(camera popping)
- Overturned floor lamp.
Suitcase half packed.
Well someone didn't want him going,
wherever he was gonna go.
What do you think, Molloy?
Lover's quarrel?
- What the wife say?
- The usual.
She claims they're happy as clams.
Want to talk to her?
- Oh, eventually.
You know, I'm more interested
in what the daughter has to say.
- She's downstairs in the living room.
(ominous music)
(people chattering)
- Anita, I know this is a tough time for ya.
But I have to know what happened?
I'm Detective Molloy.
You know, the sooner you tell me what you know,
the better chance we have finding the guy
that did this to your dad.
- Leave her alone.
She's in no condition.
- I'm sorry, I'm just trying to do my job.
- She's in shock, can't you see that?
- I take it you're Risa Gallagher?
- I am.
- Good, can I ask you some questions, then.
- [Risa] Yes, but not here.
- [Roy] What time did he come back from the country club.
- He got a message around 9:30 I think.
- From? - I don't know.
He said it was an emergency.
- So why was he packing, where was he going?
- He wasn't packing to go anywhere,
he was unpacking from his trip to Denver.
- He took Hawaiian shirts and suntan lotion to Denver?
This time of year.
- I don't know.
- You keep a gun in the house?
- No, I keep one in my car.
- Is that your car outside?
- No, that's Fin's.
- [Roy] Fin's.
- Mine's still at the country club.
It wouldn't start.
Maybe if I got back sooner, I'm, Fin would have been.
- Actually one more question.
Do you know if your husband had any enemies?
- Not that I know of.
- But you're only married four months, so.
- I worked for Fin for a year before we married.
I've never run into anyone who didn't like him.
- Okay.
This is my card.
If you think of anything or anyone,
you know where to get in touch with me.
You can go back to your stepdaughter now,
I'll finish up upstairs.
- Maybe there is one person.
- What was that?
- I couldn't exactly say he was
on the best of terms with the former Mrs. Gallagher.
Kit was very drunk.
She left the country club before me.
No, no, no, that's ridiculous.
She wouldn't possibly have done something like this.
- We'll check it out, Mrs. Gallagher.
(somber music) (birds chirping)
(casket clicking)
(birds chirping)
(people chattering)
- Risa.
So what exactly did you tell the police?
- That you and Fin were not on the best of terms
because of the divorce.
- Oh, and did you tell them you saw me shoot Fin
in cold blood.
- I never said such a thing.
- Funny, that's what they heard.
- You didn't really say that, did you?
- Oh course not, honey.
- I was taken to the police station
and treated like a criminal because you think
that I would kill the father of my only child.
Is that some kind of a sick joke?
- Rise, how could you?
- I never meant to accuse you.
They asked me a question
and I answered as honestly as I could.
- You'll be hearing from my attorney.
In the meantime, you stay away from me
and you stay away from my child.
- Now don't you worry about that, I'll take care of her.
I just wished you would have talked to me before--
- So she answered a few basic questions.
If the police would have asked me,
I would have said exactly the same thing.
She did him in in a drunken rage.
- Eva! - You saw her
in action that night.
Seeing Fin so happy with Risa made her blood boil.
- Now Eva, that's enough.
- Fine, Risa, Brett and I would love you
to come and stay with us.
- I couldn't impose.
- Oh, we're not gonna take no for an answer.
You're family.
(gentle music)
(bell ringing)
Eva?
How much longer are you gonna be?
- Don't rush her, Brett.
- Well come on, darlin', I ain't supposed to be here.
- What do you people think you're doing?
This is a crime scene.
- What I tell ya?
- Relax, we know not to touch anything.
My husband's a lawyer.
- Darlin' he knows who I am.
Now we're just here to pick up a couple of Risa's things,
she'll be staying with us for a couple of days.
That's all we're doing here.
Detective, there's no need to--
- Upstairs. - Yes.
- Mrs. Gallagher? - Yes.
What's going on?
Placing you under arrest.
- [Brett] For what?
Trespassing in her own house?
- For the murder of Findley Gallagher.
- What? - What?
(dramatic music)
Is this a joke?
- [Brett] Risa, whatever it is, I'll take care of it.
- Brett.
- You stay calm, darlin'.
You're all right.
The house, the real estate, the business investments,
assets, stocks, bonds, everything he left to you, darlin',
and he never told you about it?
- No.
I didn't know he changed his will.
- What about cash?
Keep cash around the house?
- Whatever he had in his wallet.
Maybe a couple of hundred bucks.
- [Brett] No, I mean big money, hidden somewhere.
- No.
Why are you asking me this?
- Well, uh, Fin and I have a couple
of clients that deal with us
on a cash-only basis and I'm just hoping
that he didn't try to keep some
of that off the books, that's all.
- There's nothing like that, Brett.
I would have known.
- That's good.
'Cause it would be bad if the police were
to find a cache of money hidden somewhere
in the house before we had a chance to tell them, Risa.
Say nothin' of the IRS.
They'd lock your estate up for years.
- Why are we talking about money?
- Risa, I'm sorry, I know I sound insensitive.
But the prosecution's gonna be looking at anything
and everything and tryin' to build this case against you.
They're not gonna be wearing kid gloves.
They're gonna say stupid things like he was packing
because he was planning on leaving you.
- He was unpacking from his trip to Denver.
- Oh, suntan lotion and flip flops.
- He wasn't leaving me.
- Okay, then they're gonna move on to the murder weapon.
Found a weapon lying right by his side.
It just so happens that gun turns out to be yours.
How do I explain that?
- It's obvious, whoever killed Fin,
screwed up my car to make me late getting home.
They took the gun from my car.
- So you're gonna say that the person
who intended on killing your husband,
knew about the gun ahead of time,
took it out of your car and put it in your bedroom.
Now how am I supposed to sell the jury on that, huh?
- Who's side are you on?
- Risa, Risa, honey, I'm on your side.
Eva and I love you with all our hearts.
I'm just getting the sinking feeling
that I'm gonna walk into that court
and have both hands tied behind my back.
- Brett, all I can tell you is the truth.
I didn't kill my husband.
Isn't that good enough?
(ominous music)
- This court is now in session.
- He was shot directly in the chest at point-blank range.
The bullet entered his heart.
He died instantly.
- The only fingerprints found
on the gun belong to Risa Gallagher.
- And when I came upstairs
she was leaning over my father.
And there was blood all over her hands.
And the gun was right beside her on the floor.
- I conducted a very thorough investigation
of the crime scene and found no evidence of forced entry,
no evidence of a struggle.
What we did find was a very interesting message
on Mr. Gallagher's voicemail.
- [Risa] Are you there?
Dammit, Fin, where are you?
It's not enough that I had to put up
with your ex-wife's insults all night.
Now I'm here all alone and my car is dead.
I could kill you for walking out on me tonight.
(crowd gasping)
- Mrs. Gallagher, did you kill your husband?
- I didn't kill my husband.
I loved him.
How long do you think the jury will be out?
- You never can tell, Risa.
- Could you read anything in their faces?
Brett, be straight with me.
- Risa, I've done everything in my power
to get this jury to let you off.
Now the truth is, you never know what the jury will do.
(Risa sighs)
It's all right.
It's all right.
(gentle music)
(prisoners shouting faintly)
- [Prisoner] You stupid old hag!
I should hit you!
I'm gonna kill her.
- [Prisoner] Guard!
- Have you reached a verdict?
- We have, Your Honor.
On the charge of first degree murder,
we find the defendant, Risa Gallagher,
guilty. (crowd gasping)
(dramatic music) (people chattering)
- [Reporter] Mrs. Gallagher.
Mrs. Gallagher. - Hey!
- [Reporter] It's Risa, Risa, now.
Can I get your picture?
Come on!
- It's honey, we'll file an appeal.
- [Reporter] How do you feel, Risa?
Thank you! (camera popping)
(dramatic music)
- Natalie Johnson, 20.
Dealer cut her coke with baking soda, she iced him.
Split his head open with a tire iron.
Says it was a case of self defense.
Julietta Bordeaux.
- Bordreaux.
- Shot a guy at an ATM for 20 bucks.
Says it's a case of mistaken identity.
Risa Gallagher, the Nob Hill killer.
Knocked off her rich husband for the insurance money.
Says she's innocent.
- Ain't they all.
- Come on, come on, step on it.
- Next stop, St. Gabriel's Correctional Institute for Women.
You beautiful ladies are gonna love it.
- I've been there before.
You ain't gonna love it.
(women laughing)
(somber music)
- French dip, dressed, no mayo.
And Devon Peterson's on the line.
- Yeah?
Are you sure?
How much?
Yes!
When?
Yeah, safety deposit box.
Central and Western Bank, 10 tomorrow.
See you there.
I'm sorry I kept you so late.
You must have somebody waiting for you.
- No. - No boyfriend?
I can't believe that.
- Actually, my mother went to church last Sunday,
specifically to light a candle
for the saint of new boyfriends.
St. Antony as a matter of fact.
So I'm expecting a new boyfriend, any day now.
(gentle music)
- Good morning. - Good morning.
You're in early.
- Present for you.
- What did I do to deserve a present.
- Kit's finally agreed to give me a divorce.
Pull, pull the bow.
- It's this one?
- Mm-hm, give it a good yank.
(Risa laughing)
St. Antony and I have been having
a serious discussion about you.
- [Risa] What kind of discussions?
- Subject of marriage.
- How much insurance money you kill him for, hon.
Didn't you hear me?
I said, how much insurance money you kill him for?
- I didn't kill him.
- Yeah, sure, honey.
- I loved him.
- Damn, ain't she fine.
- Yeah, I give her two days in St. Gabriel
before somebody beats the crap out of her.
- And if she don't wipe that high and mighty look
off her mug, it might be me.
- Come on, Bosco, make time.
St. Gabriel's almost up to Mill Valley
and I got a late date when I get back.
- Yeah, you got a late date, Miss Duckface, with who?
The Prince of Wales?
- Yeah, and I'm Cinderella, man.
- Hey, you think you're gonna look
with that face full of buckshot?
(birds chirping)
(dramatic music)
- Hey, where's the toilet, Miss Bus.
- It's right next to the catering kitchen.
It's got gold faucets.
Hey, if you want to pack your ball gown,
we can have it pressed for ya.
- I could use a rest stop.
- She's got classy ways, Jule.
I could use a rest stop.
Yeah, me too.
Hey!
Me and Miss Thing back here, we could use a rest stop.
- Well come, give me a break,
there's nothing out here but bushes.
- Penal code says, we get a rest stop.
- Yeah.
(quietly tense music)
- Hey, can we use your toilet.
- You plannin' on buyin' gas?
- No, we're planning on using your toilet,
whether you like it or not.
Official police business.
- Yeah, yeah, it's around the back.
Try not to mess it up.
Okay, Natalie, you first.
- I ain't goin' in the can with you alone.
- [Guard] What is buggin' you?
- You get me alone, I'm a dead woman.
- I need to go too.
- Okay, whatever, let's just go.
(dramatic music)
Come on, we don't have all day.
- Are you gonna shut the door? - What for, look it.
- Hey, uh, you don't expect me
to pull down my set of keys with these on, do you?
- [Risa] (gasps) What are you doing!
(blow thuds)
(dramatic music)
- [Natalie] Get the keys, stupid, come on!
(gun firing) (bus driver groaning)
- Yeah!
- You didn't have to shoot him!
- He'll live and if you want to live, unlock the cage.
- Oh God. - Come on, come on.
- [Driver] It hurts.
(Julietta squeals)
- Unlock her cuffs.
(driver groaning) - Let's get out of here.
- Hey, hey, hey, what's on out here.
(gun clicking)
- Shut your face if you know what's good for you.
- Yes, sir.
- You want me to blow you away, right now old man.
- Let him be.
- Don't you ever tell me what to do, Miss Nob Hill.
You got it?
Now give me the gun or you're next.
- You shoot me, I shoot out the tire
you're not going anywhere.
- Come on, Natalie, leave her!
(driver groaning)
- [Risa] Help me.
Help me with him.
Let's get him inside.
- Whoa, whoa, what do you want me to do.
I got him, I got him. - This way.
- [Billy Bob] That's it, it's this way.
Yeah.
In here, in here. (driver groaning)
Oh, give me a hand.
- Call 911.
- What?
- You've heard him, you have a wounded man here. Call 911.
- You ain't gonna shoot me, are ya, lady?
- I will shoot you if you don't do it.
(driver groaning)
- This is Billy Bob's Gas Guzzle out on Mill Road.
I need an ambulance now.
A man's been shot, yeah.
- Give me that.
- [Billy Bob] Please, don't hurt me, lady.
You ain't goin' on the run, are you lady?
They just gonna put dog's on as soon as you look at ya.
Oh lady, don't do this.
(quiet jazzy music)
- Hey Captain, take a look at this.
For once the story doesn't make us look like idiots.
- Yeah, don't bask in your glory too soon.
Haven't you heard?
- What?
- Convicts hijacked a prison bus.
Risa Gallagher's on the lam.
(tense music)
(dogs barking)
(Risa groaning)
(dramatic music)
- [Cop] Can we help you? - How you doin' tonight?
How you doin'.
- Aren't you a little out of your jurisdiction, Detective?
- Well, yeah, a little.
You know the Nob Hill killer?
I'm the guy that put her behind bars.
- Well, what do you know.
- Temporarily anyway.
So what happened here?
- Three female prisoners hijacked the prison bus
right over there.
One of 'em shot the driver in the leg.
We've got him over at County Hospital,
looks like he's gonna be okay.
Female guard's handcuffed to the sink in back there.
- Where is she now.
- She went with the driver in the ambulance.
- And prisoners?
- (laughs) Oh you're gonna love this.
- What?
- Two of 'em took the bus down the I5.
- Oh that was bright.
- Yeah, we got them about an hour ago.
- Hm, no kidding.
And Risa Gallagher, where's she.
- She's um, she's still at large.
- And?
- Nothing yet.
- Any witnesses, anyone I can talk to?
- Yeah, the owner.
- And the gun, the bang and then she comes in here
and she's waving the gun right in my face.
Man, I was so scared, I nearly wet my pants.
- And then what happened?
- She got the clothes, she got my clothes,
there was shirts, boots and stuff.
And my deer rifle.
I was gonna make a try for it,
you know, but she got the drop on me.
- And then?
- And then she made me call 911.
- What?
- 911, you know, that number you call
when there's an emergency and stuff.
- I know what it is.
- Why did she make you call it?
- Look, she was worried about the guy
with the hole in his leg.
- So instead of tying you up
and yanking the cord of the phone out
so you couldn't phone the police,
she actually made you phone them?
- You got it.
(upbeat music) (people chattering)
- Now a regional news story.
A bus transporting three female convicts
to St. Gabriel's Correctional Institute
was hijacked late yesterday.
Three convicts overpowered the guards during a rest stop
at Billy Bob's Gas Guzzle on Mill Road in Sonoma County.
One of the convicts was Risa Gallagher, the Nob Hill killer.
Two prisoners have been captured
but Risa Gallagher is still at large
and was last seen heading south.
Police caution she is armed and extremely dangerous.
(phone ringing)
- Yeah.
I was watching it on TV.
What do you mean, follow her?
How am I supposed to know where she is?
Are you crazy?
There's no telling what she'll do.
I'm taking my share and getting out of here while I can.
Stop yelling at me!
If you hadn't been so greedy
in the first place we wouldn't be in this mess!
(sighs) No.
There's no point in us getting together.
There's nothing to discuss, I'm leaving.
(somber music) (people chattering)
- Hello. - Hello!
- I'm looking for Arianna Stanton.
- Yeah, that's me.
Come on in.
- Thanks.
- It's been nine years since I was mugged.
Bullet lodged in my spine.
I still have those dreams about being
at convent school and skipping rope.
One potato, two potato. (laughs)
Silly isn't it.
I don't get much call for men's manicures.
Especially cops.
- Who said I was a cop?
- (laughs) You lie down with cops you get up with instincts.
I married two of them.
- Every woman I ever knew, one cop was enough.
- Yeah, well, I've always had a weakness
for men in navy blue.
I met the first one when I got off the boat.
Risa was just 12.
He was shot two years later.
And then the second one was, Jimmy Stanton.
Did you know Jimmy?
- I knew of him.
- Yeah, well he adopted Risa and oh, he just adored her.
He used to let her ride with him in his patrol car.
That's him, with her, over there.
He sure was good lookin'.
Yeah, we had Jimmy with us for 15 years
until that incident in the post office.
- [Roy] Yeah, I remember.
He was a brave man.
- Yeah.
And then a couple of years later,
Risa decided to go to cop school.
I almost went crazy.
I lit so many candles that Father said
I was gonna burn the church down.
And then, just before she was gonna get her badge, she quit.
It was my prayers that did it.
- You heard from her?
- Now and then.
- She won't be running loose for long.
When I find her, I'll try to make it easy on her.
- Well St. Antony is going to protect her.
My daughter is a good girl.
She works hard.
She helps people.
She paid off the mortgage on this house free and clear.
Does that sound like a killer to you.
- The jury convicted her.
- The jury?
Molloy, you know as well as I do,
that once you're in the system, you don't stand a chance.
It's like hospital.
Going in you're healthy as a horse
and coming out you're in a hearse.
And as for justice, well we can all forget about that.
I can tell you one thing.
Risa did not kill Fin, she was nuts about him.
- How do you know for sure.
- You've never had a manicure before, am I right?
- Right.
- Yes, well, I am usually right about most things.
- Well.
- By the way, that photo album
that you have stashed under your coat.
I don't mind you borrowing it.
But I am quite fond of it,
so if you don't mind bringing it back someday.
- Thank you.
(door knocking)
(tense music)
(maid screaming)
(dramatic music)
(Risa groaning) (chickens clucking)
- [Crane] So give me that report, okay.
Hey, Molloy.
- Hey, how goes the search.
- [Crane] Oh, she shook the dogs.
- Smart woman, huh?
- I got something here that might interest ya.
Positive ID on the woman found murdered at the Hometown Inn.
Name's Devon Peterson, occupation, secretary.
She checked in, May the 14th.
Registered under the name of Gloria Johnson.
She had two passports in her purse.
One in each name.
And a plane ticket to Barcelona.
- So you're tellin' me all this for a reason, Captain?
- Direct connection to the Gallagher case.
- How so?
- She used to be Fin Gallagher's secretary.
Strangled with a bathrobe tie,
approximate time of death several hours
after Risa Gallagher escaped.
- So you're saying that Risa Gallagher killed Fin Gallagher,
and now Devon Peterson?
- It's a theory.
- It's a stretch.
- Okay, you remember the valet captain who testified
that Risa Gallagher's car wouldn't start the night
of the murder?
- Yeah, yeah, what was his name, Gippy, Guppy?
- Gelby. - Gelby.
- Apparently he didn't volunteer everything he knew
about that night.
- Like what?
- The little insignificant fact
that Devon Peterson gave him a note
to deliver to Fin Gallagher.
And a big tip to keep his mouth shut.
- Maybe you're right.
Maybe Risa Gallagher did 'em both.
(dramatic music) (chickens clucking)
(phone ringing)
- Hello.
- [Risa] I can't talk long.
- Risa?
I've been worried sick about you.
Are you okay?
- I'm still alive so far.
I've got to tell you.
I had nothing to do with wounding that guard.
- I know you wouldn't do that.
Where are you?
- I'm gonna need your help.
- Yo, Roy! - What!
- Risa Gallagher just made a credit card call.
We're tracing it.
(upbeat country music) (people chattering)
(man laughing)
* Oh *
* Someone called *
* If you called me *
- [Woman] One of those really, really extra large, juicy.
- [Waitress] Who are you?
- The new girl. - Whatever.
(people chattering)
- [Man] Is that true?
- [Risa] I'll be right back with your change.
(people chattering)
- Hey!
Where do you think you're going?
(dramatic music)
(dramatic music)
Leaving so soon?
What's the big hurry?
- [Risa] I gotta get home.
- Where's home?
Maybe I could give you a ride.
- [Risa] That's all right.
I'm nearby.
- [Cop] Look like you could use some company.
- I got a boyfriend.
He's home.
Gets very jealous.
- That's too bad. (Risa gasps)
- [Risa] Sorry.
Thanks anyway.
- [Dispatcher] Attention all units.
Robbery in progress at Mill Road Convenience Store, over.
- 2628, copy.
- Guess you'd better go.
- Bad timing.
Look, I'll come in tomorrow and I'll make sure they put me
in your section and we can talk some more, okay?
- Yeah, okay.
Go.
Go, go.
(train whistling)
(crickets chirping)
- Well, this is looking really good.
You know, that Detective Molloy
that was here looking for you.
Do you know that he reminded me of Jimmy.
- Every cop reminds you of Jimmy.
- Well he's certainly good looking.
- Nice too.
Arrested me, interrogated me, was a witness against me,
can't wait to put me back behind bars.
- Well, that's life.
Take a look.
(both giggling)
You see, even your own mother wouldn't recognize you.
In fact, I don't.
- Thanks, Mom, you're a lifesaver.
(gun thuds) (dramatic music)
- Risa!
What are you gonna do that.
I'll take that.
- No, I need it, Mother.
- Do you remember how your father died?
Guns are nothing but trouble, Risa.
- I didn't kill Fin.
I need to prove I didn't do it.
- I know you didn't, darling.
But you don't need a gun to prove that.
You need brains.
- I'm afraid.
- Of course you are.
There is a big difference between being a fugitive
from justice and an armed fugitive from justice.
One will get you captured, the other will get you killed.
(somber music)
- [Risa] Thanks, Mom.
- Oh baby.
Do you need any money?
- [Risa] No, Mom.
- Miss Eulanie had her annual perm this morning.
Here.
$56 take it. - Thank you.
May I? - Yes, yes.
If that cop comes 'round again,
anything you want me to say to him?
- Yes.
Tell him to stop chasing me and find the real killer.
(gentle music)
(upbeat music)
- Risa Gallagher phoned and you decide not contact us.
Why?
- I didn't know I should.
- [Roy] You didn't know you should.
Your husband is a criminal lawyer.
Now do we have to get him to explain to you
what the law says about aiding a fugitive.
- That dog wouldn't hunt
in any court of law, Detective, and you know it.
I'd have it thrown out in a New York second.
- [Roy] All right, what did she want?
- She wanted to let me know
that she had nothing to do with wounding that guard.
Just like she had nothing to do with killing her husband.
- Understandably, my wife is upset.
I don't appreciate you doing that in my house, Detective.
So if you don't have
anything else-- - Well I--
- You all worn out your welcome.
- Actually, there is something else.
Did you know a woman named Devon Peterson?
- She was Fin's secretary before Risa.
- She's dead.
Found murdered yesterday.
- I'm sorry to hear that.
I hope you don't mind seeing yourself
to the door, Detective.
- Not at all.
- Thank you.
Eva!
(dramatic music)
(people chattering)
(horns beeping)
(tense music)
(brakes screeching)
(dramatic music) (tires squealing)
(tires squealing)
- Risa?
I never would have recognized you, darlin'.
- Good.
- You didn't get hurt or anything like that. You okay?
- I'm fine.
- Why'd you go runnin' off like that.
Especially when I'm trying to work on your appeal?
- [Risa] I can't prove I'm innocent if I'm sitting in jail.
- Devon Peterson was murdered yesterday.
- What?
- They're gonna think that both
of these murders are connected.
- Of course they're connected.
- That Detective Molloy, he's been sniffing around.
I hate to be the one to tell you this, Risa,
but he thinks that Fin and Devon were having an affair.
- What are you saying?
Were they?
- Maybe.
Fin was, well, you know, he was Fin.
- I guess I didn't know, did I.
Can you use this somehow?
- I don't see how.
Especially if Molloy's thinking
that Fin was having an affair on you with Devon.
That will make you suspect one for both murders.
- I've got to find the killer.
- No, darlin', what we gotta do is find you a way
out of this country.
- Leave the country? - Yes.
- Where would I go? - Anywhere.
Anywhere's better than you spending the rest of your life
behind some prison bars in penitentiary, now ain't it?
- Do you really think it's come to this?
- Oh, Risa, wake up darlin'.
Now come on.
You're a convicted murderer.
You're an escapee, you're a fugitive from the law,
considered armed and dangerous, for crying out loud.
Now, yes, I do think it's time
for a desperate course of action.
Now welcome to the real world.
Risa, I'm sorry, darlin'.
Look, you know, if we find some new evidence later on
that'll clear your name, well I think that's just great.
You can come back to this country and be a free woman,
you write a book, you go on Oprah,
you do whatever the heck you want to do.
But right now, it's a reality check.
- How would I get across the border?
- I know somebody who has a plane.
We could, you could fly below the radar,
get you into Mexico.
Once you're there, you can go anywhere.
- What would I do for money?
Everything I inherited from Fin is tied up in probate.
- Yeah, well, didn't you and Fin and a safety deposit box,
you know for jewelry and documents,
important things like that.
Maybe there's something in there.
- Not that I know of, no.
My jewelry's still at home.
- You know what, that's not the important thing right now.
I'll pull together some cash.
It'll probably take me a day
to make the arrangements for the plane.
The important thing right now is
to get you out of the open like this.
Oh.
Won't you be careful, Risa.
- How do I get in touch with you?
- I'll leave a message for you on the office voicemail.
I need something to write an access code down on.
That'll work.
Don't forget to call me now.
I'm here for ya, darlin'.
(engine puttering)
- So, how's life with your mom?
- Terrible.
We fight all the time.
- About what?
- Risa, mostly.
Mom's always putting her down.
- And you defend her?
- I used to hate her 'cause I was sure she killed my dad.
But now I think I'm wrong.
I mean, Risa loved Dad so much.
I know, I was living there too.
She'd never kill him.
Mom hates Risa.
She hopes the police shoot her.
- Well maybe you should spend
some more time over here, honey.
Listen, why don't you come for dinner on Friday.
We would love to see you.
- Okay.
(dramatic music)
(alarm ringing)
(upbeat music)
- Yeah, it's a light blue Crown Victoria.
- Roy, got a trace on your car.
- Oh, never mind, we got it.
(tense music)
- Come on.
(tires squealing) (siren wailing)
- She must have gone upstairs, come on.
- Hey, hey, hey!
Hold up a sec, now who are you?
- I need a key to room 2316.
- Well, I just gave that key to one of your people.
- What do you mean, one of my people.
- Yeah, some lady cop with dark hair.
Good looking. - When did she go up?
- Is there any other way to get out of here
without going through the lobby?
- Oh yeah, what you got to do is
go down the service elevator back there,
that'll bring you down to the loading dock.
- Want to help my friend out, show him where it is?
- Come on.
(tense music)
(elevator dings)
(tense music)
- [Partner] I'm at the service entrance, no one's here.
Roy, Roy, do you read me?
- Yeah, keep your eyes open anyway.
- [Partner] 10-4.
(phone beeping)
- Give me Crane.
Hey Captain, it's Molloy.
So I'm in Fin Gallagher's office, looks like she was here.
No, no, I think she got out the back,
through the service elevator.
Well, knowing her, she's probably
on the other side of town right now.
You'd better put the word out
and tell them that she's dressed like a cop.
Yeah, no, I'm serious.
That's very funny, I will.
(phone beeps)
(dramatic music)
(upbeat music)
- [Woman] Voicemail for Gallagher and Newcomb,
please dial access code.
You have no new messages.
(phone beeping)
(phone ringing)
- Hello?
- [Risa] Hi, it's me.
- Are you all right?
- I can't talk for long.
Can you meet me?
I need money.
- [Eva] Where?
- Where I bought my white dress, in one hour.
- [Man] Can I get those locations.
(people chattering) (Roy snoring softly)
(Roy sniffing)
- Morning. - Hey.
Thank you.
- So what's going on here?
- Well we got dates, numbers, the whole thing.
It looks like somebody embezzled $10 million.
- [Crane] That's a lot of money.
- What if Devon Peterson weren't just the other woman
from Gallagher's life.
What if they were running some kind
of white collar scam together, you know,
phony billings to various corporations represented
by Fin's law firm.
- How would that explain the murders?
- Well somebody finds out what they're into
and kills them both for the money.
- Like Risa Gallagher.
It all comes back to her.
(phone ringing)
- Molloy.
What?
Don't lose her, I'll be right there!
Jackpot! - What?
- You know that phone tap we put on Newcomb's line.
- Good morning. - Hey.
It just paid off.
Risa phoned Eva Newcomb, wants to meet.
- Where?
- I don't know.
We're tailing Eva, so she's gonna lead us right to Risa.
- Go to it.
- [Man] Hey, how's it goin' man?
(people chattering)
- [Man] It's not her idea.
- [Man] Oh, ah, I got.
- [Man] Taxi!
- [Man] Yeah, yeah.
(tense music)
- Anything happening?
- [Cop] No, still nothing here.
- All right, I'm coming down.
(people chattering)
(elevator dings)
- Who's our guy in the door?
- Never seen him before.
- Well maybe you should go over there.
You remember what she looks like, right?
- Can I help you, ma'am?
- Oh, on, I'm waiting for a friend.
She's late, she's always late.
- I have a friend like that.
We have a sale on suits today, have you seen it?
- No, no. - It's over here.
- Oh yes, that is lovely. - Isn't it.
- [Woman] Miss, can you please help me?
- Oh, excuse me, I'll be right back.
- [Man] No, I didn't.
(people chattering)
- Sorry I'm late.
- Oh, am I glad to see you.
Are you all right?
- So far. I think the cops know I'm here.
- Well, how do they know?
- Could they have tapped your phone?
Let's get out of here.
Oh this is wonderful. - It's beautiful.
So this is all the cash I could get.
I hope it will help.
- Thanks, you've been a wonderful friend.
- Listen, Risa, do you think--
- Risa Gallagher, you're under arrest, put your hands!
- [Roy] Police, freeze!
She's heading for the escalator!
- [Female Cop] Here, over here!
- [Roy] Stop right there!
- [Man] Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- [Female Cop] Over here, over here!
- [Man] Hold it.
Excuse me please, don't let her get out of the store.
- [Man] Where'd she go?
- [Woman] What?
(people chattering)
- [Woman] They're chasing her.
(woman groaning)
(Roy groaning)
(man groaning)
- [Woman] She's over here.
(dramatic music)
- She is good.
Nice job.
- Get cash. - No cash.
(dramatic music)
(gun firing)
(Risa groans)
(dramatic music)
- [Man] Yeah, we're all done here.
- [Man] Yeah, let's get.
- Someone's inside the Gallagher house?
- Well don't get too excited, it's probably just a mouse.
They've had several false alarms.
But something tripped that silent sensor again.
- All right, I'm on my way.
(tires squealing)
(dramatic music)
(phone beeping)
- [Woman] Voicemail for Gallagher and Newcomb,
please enter your access code.
(phone beeping)
You have two new messages.
First message.
- [Brett] Hi, it's Brett.
Eva's worried sick over what happened
at the department store.
So I hope you're all right.
I don't want you to try and call us here at the house,
I believe the home phone is tapped.
Now, everything is arranged, just like we discussed.
Be there, tomorrow night, eight o'clock
and you'll soon be a free woman.
(phone clicks)
- [Woman] Second message.
- [Wallace] It's Wallace Tillion,
accounting over here all right DH&L Industries.
I know I'm only supposed to talk to Devon, but she's dead.
We have an emergency here.
I think Mr. Lingersham has figured out what we--
- [Man] Tony, get in here right now!
- [Wallace] This is so not no good.
I need to see you right away.
I may need big time legal help.
I'll call you back.
(dramatic music)
(door squeaking)
(phone beeping)
(phone ringing)
- This is Crane.
- Calling from inside the Gallagher house,
not a creature is stirring, not even a mouse.
- (laughing) I'm sorry.
Ah, it's another false alarm.
- You know, Captian, I am starting
to think Mrs. Gallagher is innocent.
- [Crane] Well don't go all mushy on me, Molloy.
- Now think about this for just half a second here.
Now she is running circles around us.
She's as smart as they come.
Now you would think someone
that smart is gonna leave
an incriminating message like that?
- Even smart people do stupid things.
- So you really believe that she's gonna use her own gun,
leave her prints all over it.
- You know what I believe?
The jury.
Now give it a rest, Molloy.
- All right, I'm heading home.
I got some thinking to do.
(phone beeps)
- Molloy?
(bright music)
- I was hoping you'd come out of hiding.
Did you have a nice shower?
Oh what?
All right, now what happened?
- Someone followed me in a car when I left the shop.
Took a few shots at me.
- Somebody shot you?
(Risa groaning)
Let me take a look at that.
Come on.
- If you knew I was here, why did you lie to your boss?
- 'Cause I thought it was time
for you and I to have a heart to heart off the record.
- So you finally believe me?
- That bullet grazed you pretty good.
(somber music)
(Risa groaning)
It's gotta be tight.
- Are you sure you know what you're doing?
- [Roy] Yes.
- So where are you from, anyway?
- Jersey.
And I've been here for a while.
- Why is it that you can never meet anybody
who was born here?
- This is San Francisco, the city no one's from.
- Thank you for not turning me in.
I know you could lose your badge for this.
- [Roy] Hope I'm right about you.
- Did you look at the Devon Peterson file?
- Your computer disk?
Yeah, I took the bait.
I'm up to speed.
- So you know there's $10 million
of embezzled money somewhere.
- Yes, Fin and Devon appear
to be partners in the whole scheme.
They were probably also partners off the playing field.
Did you know he had a secret life?
- He was cheating on his wife
with Devon when I was working there.
- But you married him anyway.
- Love makes you stupid, I guess.
- Stupid enough to pull the trigger?
- Is that what you'd like to believe?
- No, I don't know what I should believe.
But I do know there's a third partner in all this.
- Why do you think that?
- According to the records there was 10 million, right?
- Right.
- Well a week before your husband was murdered,
three cash withdrawals were made to close out the account.
Each cash withdrawal was exactly the same amount, 3,333,000.
- Why would the money be divided
into thirds if there's only two partners.
- That's what I'm saying.
You see, my hunch is that the three partners got scared.
They decided to split the money and hide.
We already know that Devon Peterson was planning
to leave the country.
In her purse we found a one-way ticket to Barcelona
and a passport under the name of Gloria Johnson.
(dramatic music)
- I saw an invoice for a safety box
in Devon Peterson's computer file.
It's in the Central and Western Bank
under the name of Gloria Johnson.
- Devon Peterson was murdered for what was in that box.
- $3,333,000.
- I'm gonna get a court order and have that drilled.
You won't run, will ya?
- No.
I'm counting on you.
- Everything looks kosher, I guess I have no choice.
- None. - All right.
Let's see.
Last time Gloria Johnson visited
her safety deposit box was May 14th.
- She was found dead the very next morning.
(drill buzzing)
Okay, open it up.
- Wait a second.
Make you a little bet.
Five bucks says that box is empty.
- [Crane] Go ahead.
- Huh.
- That lock's gonna cost me $200.
If you knew the box was empty, why did you drill it?
- I had to make sure.
You owe me five bucks.
- [Crane] You're holding out on me, boy.
- No, I'll tell you everything, as soon as I know.
- Hey, Molloy--
- So who's gonna pay the $200?
- Safety deposit box is empty.
So what's going on?
Any ideas?
- There is something that's bugging me.
When I checked Brett's voicemail there was a second message.
It was from some accountant.
Says he knows he was supposed
to deal with Devon but she's dead.
Sounded scared.
I figured it was a client.
- Maybe not.
Maybe that's the source of all the cash.
- What is?
- Who's close enough to Fin and Devon
to be part of their gang?
Who was close enough to you to know
that you had a gun in your car.
Who was close enough to frame you for both murders.
- Brett Newcomb.
He defended me.
- Not too well, he lost the case.
- But he's been helping me.
- Helping you?
Risa, helping you how?
- He's making arrangement for me
to leave the country tonight.
- Brilliant.
What better way to protect himself,
he gets you right out of the picture.
- He asked me if I had any valuables
in a safety deposit box.
- You know what that means?
- He never got his hands on Fin's share.
- Perhaps the only reason that he hasn't killed you yet
is he's hoping that you'll lead him
to the missing third of the money.
He must have been him that shot at you.
- If he thinks that I know where the money is,
why is he trying to kill me?
- He's not trying to kill you, he's trying to scare you.
- Into finding Fin's money.
- And showing up at the airport, money in hand.
- Only I don't know where the money is.
- Yeah.
- So if I show up without, then what?
He's just gonna put me on the plane and wave bye, bye?
- He has no intention of letting you on that plane.
He's arranged this whole thing to get himself
out of the country with 2/3 of the money.
You show up with an extra 1/3, great he's got 10 million.
(phone beeping)
(dramatic music)
(phone ringing)
- Yeah.
- [Risa] I meet you at the place at eight o'clock tonight.
- Great, everything's been all arranged.
- [Risa] I'm gonna need some money.
- I've already taken care of that, darlin'.
How much you think you're gonna need?
- $3,333,000.
- Are you crazy, Risa, I don't have that kind of money!
- What about the money you took from Devon Peterson?
- Risa, have you been drinking?
Because I don't know what you're talkin' about.
- Her safety deposit box is empty.
I took the rap for Fin's murder.
Now they want me for dinner.
I think I deserve a piece of the action.
I'm not asking for your share.
Just Devon's third.
Bring it with you.
(phone beeps)
- Smart move.
I catch him with the money, your troubles are over.
- Well, what if it doesn't work?
- Crane will have my head on a platter.
- I may be in the morgue.
(dramatic music)
(dramatic music)
- Brett!
Where you going?
- Hey darlin', come on, hop in.
- Well, where are we going?
- Well, I thought I'd surprise you with a little trip
down to Mexico, kind of like a second honeymoon.
And if there's a certain stowaway in baggage,
well, we don't know anything about that, now do we?
- We're smuggling Risa out of the country?
- No, why I do something stupid like that?
- Oh!
- Now come on, hop in.
I don't want to be late.
Get that bag in there.
All right. - Hi, Aunt Eva!
- Anita!
Hi, what are you doing here?
- Uncle Brett asked me to come.
- Sure, I thought it'd be nice
if Anita said goodbye to Risa, don't you?
Come on everybody, buckle up.
- [Anita] Okay.
(dramatic music) (birds chirping)
- Are you sure you want to go through with this?
- I have to.
It's the only way to get the evidence we need.
- Let me turn you on.
- Anytime.
(tap whirring)
- All right.
Say something nice.
- You're a good man, Molloy.
(tape whirring)
You're a good man, Molloy.
My momma always says, cops are the only way to go.
- This guy's a killer.
Be careful.
- Okay.
- I'm gonna be listening.
But I may not be able to see everything.
So if you spot any danger I need you
to cue me so I can get in there fast.
- I'll say, it's getting late, we'd better get going.
- Perfect.
Promise me, if for one second you don't feel safe,
anything at all, you'll say...
- It's getting late, better get going.
(quiet dramatic music)
(tires squealing)
(tense music)
- Risa!
Risa! - [Eva] She'll be here, Brett.
Don't worry. - She better be.
Look, I want you to start filing that phony flight plane.
Just be ready to move the minute she shows up, all right.
- Yes, sir.
- Uncle Brett, can I please come with you guys?
- [Eva] You can't do that, honey, what about your mother?
- My mom won't even notice if I'm gone.
- She can call Kit from Mexico.
- Yes, thank you, this is so cool.
Can I go check out the planes.
- [Eva] I don't know about that, Brett.
- Well, where is she?
Huh, we're taking a big risk doing this for her.
The least she can do is show up and be on time.
- Why didn't we bring her with us.
- Well, I wanted to,
but she wouldn't tell me where she's calling from.
- And what's with the luggage.
- Some things I got.
- You went shopping, when did you have time?
Well I didn't pick them up, I had my secretary go do it.
Just a couple of things to get us started, that's all.
- [Eva] Well why didn't you ask me, I would have done that.
- Hello, guys.
- Hi, Risa. - Well, there she is.
Hold that darling.
Come on now, we gotta get ourselves goin'.
- Are you sure you want to do this, Brett?
Couldn't you get disbarred
for smuggling a fugitive out of the country?
- Where's my money? - What money.
- [Brett] Oh, you think I'm doing this
for the good of my soul, Risa?
- [Risa] I've got about $30 left
out of the money you and Eva gave me.
- [Brett] Come on, you know what I'm talkin' about.
- [Risa] No, I don't, Brett.
Why don't you tell me.
- All right, the $3 million
that Fin took from the corporate account.
I want it now.
- Where did you and Fin get $3 million?
- You stay out of this, Eva.
- [Eva] Is that why Fin was killed?
Were you two involved in something illegal?
- I said, you stay out of this.
- I don't think so, Brett.
- You killed him, didn't you?
- My God, Brett.
- Hey Risa, we filed the dummy flight plan, let's go.
- What's Anita doing here.
- [Brett] Come on over here, darlin'.
- Stay, Anita, stay there, we're coming.
- No, it's all right, come on over,
I want you to hear this, come here.
(Anita screaming)
You gotta get out of the country fast, that's good.
But first I want my money.
- It's getting late, we better get going.
(Anita gasps)
- Get off me! (Eva screaming)
Nobody steals from me.
(tires squealing)
- Far enough, Newcomb.
Hands where I can see.
Get 'em up.
- All right, don't shoot, you got me.
(gun firing)
Come here, come here!
- [Pilot] What's going on here?
- [Brett] You get that thing going, right now!
- [Risa] Run, Anita, run!
(Brett groans)
(dramatic music)
(gun firing)
(gun clicks)
(tires squealing)
- [Brett] Dammit!
Come on!
(tires screeching)
(metal crunching) (Brett groaning)
(engine sputtering)
Come on, move it!
(tires squealing)
(plane puttering)
(tires squealing)
(metal crunching)
(van crunching)
(Brett groaning)
(tires squealing)
(metal crunching) (glass shattering)
(horn blaring)
- Risa!
- Oh no, Risa! - Risa!
Risa, come on.
We gotta get out of here.
This thing's gonna blow.
- [Anita] Oh, I got you.
(tense music)
(fire whooshing) (Brett yelling)
- Help me, please.
Help me, I don't want to die.
(explosion booming) (fire crackling)
(bright music)
(gentle music)
(phone ringing)
- Hello. - Hi, it's Molloy.
So, what are you up to?
- Just doing some gardening.
How are you? - I'm good, I'm good.
I just called to make sure you're okay.
- [Risa] I'm fine.
- Good.
So, uh, listen, how'd you like
to get together for dinner tonight.
Maybe dessert if I behave myself?
- Sure, that would be nice, Molloy.
- Yeah, well great.
I'll pick you up at 8:00.
- Perfect.
See you later. - Okay.
(Risa laughs)
- [Anita] Those flowers are really beautiful.
- Anita.
- Risa, I owe you an apology.
Mother wouldn't let me contact you all through the trial.
But I should have written you a letter or something.
I never really believed you could have killed Daddy.
- Thank you.
I should have never mentioned your mother to the police.
- No, the way she treated Daddy, she deserved to be suspect.
Actually, I kind of enjoyed watching her freak out. (laughs)
- Does Kit know you're here?
- It will probably take her a couple weeks
to notice I'm gone.
I wondered if you'd let me stay here for a day or two?
- You're always welcome here, honey.
- Thanks.
Oh, you wouldn't want to help me with my hair, would you?
I've got a really important date tonight.
- Go on, shampoo it, I'll be right there.
(both laughing softly)
- Oh, just like old times.
(Risa gasps)
(bright music)
(gentle music)
(dramatic drum music)
(upbeat music)
(dramatic music)
