The Legend of White Snake

12

Episode 26

13

You don't dislike him now? So that means you like him?

14

Yes.

15

Older Sister, I think Zhang Yutang is a very nice guy.

16

Also, he's a righteous man and we are compatible. I want...

17

I want...just like you and your husband...

18

I want to be with him.

19

Why cover your face?

20

I'm shy.

21

He's a mortal. Are you sure you don't look down on him?

22

I know. Master Xu is also a mortal, but you both are so good together.

23

Older Sister, I'll learn to be good to Yutang.

24

I'll follow your lead.

25

My lady.

26

My lady, you're worried and perplexed. Is it all because of Xiao Qing?

27

The way I see it, a grown girl has a mind of her own. Brother Yutang's character is honest and nice and he cares about Xiao Qing.

28

We entrust Xiao Qing to him, there's nothing you need to worry about.

29

I'm not worrying about the affection between them.

30

But it's about a matter of life and death.

31

A matter of life and death? That serious?

32

Let me tell you the truth.

33

Even though Yutang may not care about Xiao Qing's identity. However, once they're married,

34

Xiao Qing's demonic poison can kill him immediately.

35

You don't know that back then, if without Guan Yin's guidance of placing my spirit pellet inside your body.

36

At this moment, we both would be separated by death.

37

Spirit pellet?

38

So this is not something fabricated by people. There's really such a thing.

39

All vegetation and fossil, birds and animals, absorb the spiritual aura of heaven and earth.

40

Those who have intelligence can cultivate themselves to become spirits. They transform what they have cultivated into spirit pellets.

41

From then on, they advance their cultivation to strengthen their whole being.

42

Then, my lady, you gave me your spirit pellet.

43

Wouldn't that make you lose the core of your strength? Are you not feeling well?

44

I already have a thousand years of cultivation. I can still bear the pain of losing the spirit pellet.

45

Even so, an adversity would eventually strike. Cultivation in seclusion is needed.

46

So that's what it is.

47

Xiao Qing is different. She only has five hundred years of cultivation.

48

If she loses her spirit pellet, she'll be back to her original form. I want to help them,

49

but I can't bear to see Yutang die of poisoning and I don't want Xiao Qing to face any danger.

50

I'm caught in a dilemma and truly worried.

51

Looks like we'll have to let them see each other less.

52

This stack of medicine with the name 'Yu' written on it is for Madam Yu.

53

This stack with the name 'Li' is for Mister Li on Qing Yi Lane.

54

And this last stack of medicine with the name 'Qin' written on it is for the carpenter Mister Qin's family on the Ninth Street. Absolutely no mistake in making the delivery.

55

Don't worry, Physician Xu.

56

Zhang Yutang. You...you're going somewhere?

57

Yes. Physician Xu asks me to deliver medicine to a couple of patients.

58

Let me go with you.

59

Xiao Qing.

60

I remember a few days ago you said you wanted to get some new clothes for the spring.

61

Lingluo Silk Boutique has new arrivals came just yesterday. How about, we go there to take a look.

62

There's no hurry, or, we can go tomorrow.

63

The goods in Lingluo Boutique are always in high demand. If we go tomorrow, we can only choose from what's left behind.

64

Therefore, we better go today.

65

Xiao Qing, you have something to do. I'll...go first.

66

Hurry and leave!

67

- Zhang Yutang!

- Xiao Qing!

68

Let us also leave immediately.

69

Let's go!

70

Please take care, ladies.

71

Heiyo!

72

Physician Bai, Miss Xiao Qing, did you come to see the new fabrics?

73

I especially brought Xiao Qing here today to have some new clothes tailored for her.

74

Sure. Wait a moment.

75

Take a look.

76

Isn't this Tianshui Green?

77

Physician Bai, you have good eyes, this Tianshui Green's quality is first-rate.

78

Xiao Qing, using this Tianshui Green fabric to make clothes matches your complexion the most.

79

If you had come late, you would've missed this opportunity.

80

It's good since you say so.

81

Look!

82

Miss Xiao Qing, I'll let you see something good. Take a look at this fragrance pouch.

83

Are they a set?

84

No. Look at the mandarin ducks embroidery.

85

If you wear these clothes while your beloved carries the fragrance pouch,

86

wouldn't that be just the right match? Steadfast loyalty. Unforgettable joyous love.

87

Owner. I'll take this one!

88

Miss Xiao Qing, it's a pity that this fragrance pouch has already been reserved by someone. I apologize.

89

Why would you take it out when someone already reserved it? How disappointing!

90

I'm sorry. This...this...

91

I just wanted to take it out to open your eyes, check out my daughter's embroidery.

92

No matter how good the embroidery is, you're still not selling it to us. Let's go.

93

- What about this fabric?

- Owner, please send this fabric to Baohe Hall.

94

- Thanks!

- Alright!

95

Think there's nothing I can do if someone already reserved it?

96

Brother Zhang, cook this slowly over a gentle fire.

97

Reduce three bowls down to one bowl.

98

Will do, Physician Xu.

99

Xiao Qing. Xiao Qing!

100

Don't block me. Yutang brought medicine back. Just so happens I'm looking for him. There's something I want to give him.

101

Yesterday, Wife was saying that my fragrance pouch is too old

102

and wanted to gift me a new one. Thanks!

103

This one actually...isn't Elder Sister's gift to you.

104

It's not? No wonder.

105

I was wondering why Wife would give me such an inauspicious thing.

106

What inauspicious? Isn't this a fragrance pouch symbolizing

107

steadfast loyalty, affection for life?

108

If I'm not mistaken,

109

this material is Tianshui Green?

110

Correct.

111

Then do you know the origin of Tianshui Green?

112

This...isn't this something the fabric house owner shipped from Yangzhou?

113

Looks like you really don't know. Then do you know Li Yu?

114

Which Li Yu?

115

The one who questioned how many sorrows can a ruler have.

116

The final ruler of Southern Tang of the Five Southern Dynasties. You can't not know him, right?

117

How can I not know? I'm actually someone who, at the Nan Tang palace's garden,

118

I bathed in the garden pond. I just forgot for a moment.

119

isn't it something like...'like a winter river flowing into spring'?

120

Then do you know why Li Yi had so many sorrows?

121

Stop keeping me in suspense, don't beat around the bush.

122

Can you tell me why this Tianshui Green is not auspicious?

123

Li Houzhu

124

had an alluringly beautiful wife. She was known as Empress Xiao Zhou.

125

This woman loved the color green and would personally dye the silks.

126

She used night time dew to make the coloring.

127

Unexpectedly... she actually successfully mixed the green color.

128

Because the dew came from the sky,

129

it was called Tianshui Green (sky water green)

130

The husband and wife couple

131

wore clothes made from Tianshui Green, were loving and inseparable.

132

Who knew.

133

Who knew what?

134

Not more than half a month later, Southern Tang was destroyed by the founder of our dynasty.

135

Li Houzhu was killed. When he died,

136

he was wearing clothes made from Tianshui Green cloth.

137

After that, Empress Xiao Zhou also died beautifully.

138

She was also wearing a dress made from Tianshui Green fabric.

139

I'm afraid the mandarin ducks embroidered on this Tianshui Green,

140

aren't inseparable lovers,

141

but a couple with an early demise, instead.

142

Why the sigh?

143

I have done some inappropriate things today.

144

Fortunately, you were quick-witted. Otherwise, Xiao Qing would've given the fragrance pouch to Yutang,

145

then wouldn't everything have been ruined?

146

Wife, if you did not have a thousand years of cultivation,

147

and could not use your spirit pellet to extend my life,

148

would you still be with me?

149

If the price for us to be together was your life,

150

I would have left you.

151

Wife.

152

If we were to switch places, if you were together with me,

153

and your life was in danger,

154

Would you have left me?

155

Of course, I wouldn't. I wouldn't regret dying a hundred times over if we could be together for years to come.

156

Wife, our hearts are the same.

157

If you did not have a thousand years of cultivation, you would have left me.

158

I would rather die than lose you.

159

Neither of us would be willing to hurt the other.

160

But in fact, making a choice on behalf of the other person,

161

is what's truly most harmful.

162

What you mean is...

163

If that love poison can be neutralized,

164

would you still break up Xiao Qing and Zhang Yutang?

165

Our doing this might look like it's for their own good,

166

but they may not feel the same way.

167

Husband, I understand what you mean,

168

but Xiao Qing and Yutang are not the same as us.

169

They had only just fallen in love, and there's still time to pull back before it's too late.

170

If that love poison could be neutralized, of course I wouldn't stop them.

171

But that love poison is the law of nature making things difficult between humans and demons.

172

Wanting to neutralize the poison, how can it be so easy.

173

Wife, look at what's recorded in this book,

174

A god's blood can suppress a demon's power. If that was true,

175

then maybe it can also mask the laws of nature.

176

Husband is considerate. I thank you on behalf of Xiao Qing.

177

If a god's blood can neutralize the love poison, of course that would be great.

178

But I'm afraid this god's blood is difficult to obtain.

179

There's a way!

180

Love comes from the heart...it's difficult for outside forces to hold it back.

181

I hope to think of a surefire plan to allow Xiao Qing to obtain her heart's desire. One which wouldn't hurt her.

182

Miss Bai, we won't hide it from you.

183

All of us are minor gods from the Eastern Sea Dragon Palace.

184

Even if Brother Yutang can absorb our godly blood,

185

it'll still be difficult to suppress the love poison.

186

In order to resist this love poison, we need to use the blood of a higher god.

187

In the Eastern Sea Dragon Palace, only the dragon king is a higher god.

188

Xiao Qing, she...

189

her half immortal body actually came from her father, the Eastern Sea Dragon King.

190

I only knew that Xiao Qing and the Eastern Sea Dragon King shared some fate. Surprisingly, she's a dragon's daughter.

191

Since it's like this, how can we help Xiao Qing?

192

We need to obtain ten drops of true dragon blood in order to suppress the demonic love poison.

193

Since she's his own flesh and blood, he'll certainly fulfill his daughter's wish.

194

I'll leave this place to you. I'm making a trip to the dragon palace.

195

Miss Bai...Miss Bai! We're not finished speaking!

196

I Xiao Qing knew that her father is the dragon king, don't know if she'll be happy or sad.

197

Based on her personality, maybe she wouldn't be that grateful.

198

Where did the currents command token go?

199

I don't know. I deserve to die. This humble servant will go find it.

200

Hold on.

201

Finish drinking this Forget Love Water before leaving.

202

Great King, please have mercy on me, Great King!

203

This Forget Love Water is the tears of the deep blue sea. It's your honor that I'm bestowing it upon you.

204

Your majesty is a true dragon, this drink is just something to erase your troubles,

205

but if I were to drink this water, I'll forget the people I love most.

206

Even my wife and daughter will be forgotten.

207

You're going to search throughout the four seas, exhausting your life.

208

Why still care about some wife and daughter?

209

If you can't find that currents command token, the Celestial Execution Platform will be your final resting place.

210

Currents command token? This kind of thing should be kept carefully.

211

Why is it here? Seems it should be handed over to the dragon king.

212

Report! Report to Great King, the currents command token has been found.

213

Hand it over.

214

This is great!

215

Since this has returned to its original owner, may the dragon king not punish his subordinate.

216

Leave.

217

- Thank you young lady, thank you young lady!

- Please stand.

218

If this currents command token fell into someone else's hands,

219

it would surely bring a fatal disaster upon the Easter Sea Dragon Palace.

220

Luckily this young lady returned it in time, so I can stop worrying.

221

Come! Fetch ten pearls and bestow it upon this young lady.

222

Please wait.

223

I merely returned an item to its rightful owner. Dragon King need not be courteous.

224

However, Suzhen came this time with a different request.

225

Withdraw!

226

May the Dragon King please bestow upon me ten drops of dragon blood in order to help dragon daughter Xiao Qing overcome difficulty as she wanders among the mortals.

227

Dragon daughter?

228

Xiao Qing?

229

The entire world knows that

230

a dragon births nine sons. Where would a dragon daughter come from?

231

- Xiao Qing resided at West Lake. Was attended to by four gods from the Eastern Sea. Could you have forgotten five hundred years ago...

- Enough!

232

This snake spirit surprisingly dares to entrap me.

233

Does the dragon king mean to deny this daughter's existence?

234

I only have nine sons in charge of the world's seas and rivers, moving the clouds and winds.

235

How can there be some daughter. Even more so, I don't know of any Yu Furong.

236

Suzhen never mentioned a Yu Furong and also don't now what kind of divinity she may be.

237

I don't know why Dragon King reacted so strongly.

238

Xiao Qing is naive and romantic, innately sincere. She's a good girl.

239

You shouldn't treat her like this.

240

It was for the sake of fulfilling her fated love that I waded through these muddy waters.

241

Scram!

242

Since it's like this, then don't blame Suzhen for being rude.

243

White snake.

244

I take into account your having returned the currents command token,

245

and let you go.

246

If you still want to step forward on Xiao Qing's behalf,

247

I'll have you die with no burial place.

248

Five hundred years haven't come and go, the ending is clear already.

249

Xiao Qing, I have no ability to help you.

250

I can only break up your relationship.

251

Hope you can understand my difficulties.

252

Wife, let me.

253

You visited the Eastern Sea. How did you end up like this?

254

That dragon king is simply heartless and unfaithful.

255

Since he won't help Xiao Qing, then what are we to do?

256

Xiao is half immortal, Yutang being together with her,

257

maybe his poison will spread more slowly than yours did.

258

But Guan Yin said that in regards to this poison from loving a demon.

259

the deeper the love is, the more potent the poison is.

260

If the feelings for each other are deep,

261

I think her half immortal blood won't be able to overcome the heavenly laws.

262

If we want to protect Yutang's life, we can't continue to allow the two to be close.

263

Then...I'll send Yutang to SuZhou to gather and buy medicines.

264

Temporarily separate them, how's that?

265

This mere hundred li distance (about 33 miles), how can it stop Xiao Qing.

266

Then...let's explain clearly to Xiao Qing.

267

At this point, we can only do that.

268

But based on Xiao Qing's personality, we won't be able to persuade her.

269

This matter..can only start with Yutang.

270

You're his employer. It's unavoidable that

271

if he finds your words disagreeable, he may break the rice bowl. (quit his employment)

272

Therefore, in regards to this matter, I can't help but be the bad guy.

273

Baohe Hall

274

Master Bai, did you look for me?

275

Sit down.

276

Yutang, you know that

277

Xiao Qing is my good little sister.

278

In my heart, she's like a real sister to me.

279

I know. Your minds are connected.

280

Xiao Qing also said that in her eyes, you're her real sister.

281

Xiao Qing has been doted upon by us all of her life. She's never suffered hardship.

282

As a sister, I only hope that she can live a carefree and worry free life.

283

So many people cares for Xiao Qing, she'll be happy and blessed for sure!

284

But...

285

If she plans to stay with someone incompatible,

286

how can she be happy and blessed?

287

How can Xiao Qing...

288

Master B... Bai, you meant...

289

Yutang, you're straightforward, bold, and dependable.

290

You're an upright man that's difficult to find.

291

I believe that with your character,

292

you'll surely be able to find a young lady who's compatible with you in the future.

293

Master Bai, I understand.

294

it's me who is not careful.

295

I won't bother her anymore in the future.

296

What do you understand? You don't understand anything.

297

Xiao Qing.

298

Elder Sister, why did you say such things to Yutang?

299

Is it because in your eyes, you're compatible with Master Xu, yet I'm not compatible with Yutang?

300

- Xiao Qing.

- Xiao Qing.

301

He...

302

He's illiterate and has no money and doesn't even have a place to live,

303

so how can he provide you with comfort and fortune.

304

Have enough for a comfortable life?

305

I don't think it's the top priority.

306

Elder Sister, I shouldn't have trusted you so much. I told you everything, yet,

307

Behind me, you...

308

You talked to him behind me.

309

You are too much.

310

Yutang, in this world, besides ourselves,

311

no one can break us up.

312

Xia... Xiao Qing.

313

Xiao Qing, Xiao Qing.

314

Miss Xiao Qing, please calm down.

315

I've never been so calm before.

316

Your sister thinks for your own good.

317

Moreover, I don't like you at all.

318

You don't like me but I like you, what do you do about that?

319

A forcibly picked melon won't be sweet.

320

Moreover, whether we can be together

321

requires mutual consent.

322

Zhang Yutang. Right now, am I loving, but you're not willing?

323

Correct!

324

Fine! We're half way to success already.

325

Tell me, what do you not like about me?

326

Can't say anything, right?

327

I'm actually quite perfect, right?

328

Even if I'm not perfect, I can become perfect, is that right?

329

If I become perfect, you'll like me, right?

330

No, it's not.

331

I, Zhang Yutang, am a clerk at a medical clinic.

332

I'm not even clear about my own origins.

333

I have no money, no land. I don't even have a decent house.

334

Your being together with me is arranging fragrant flowers on a pile of cow manure. (a shameful match) I won't be able to give you happiness.

335

Flowers can survive on a pile of manure. They'd die if grown on a pile of gold.

336

Your sister, and other people...none of them will agree.

337

I don't care if they agree or not. I'm not afraid. What are you afraid of?

338

I just want to be together with you. I really don't care about anything else.

339

Miss Xiao Qing, don't be like this

340

Your sister has come!

341

Zhang Yutang! Zhang Yutang!

342

Zhang Yutang!

343

You are merely moved by a mortal's heart.

344

and are physically attracted to that servant at the pharmacy.

345

It's none of your business. Move aside.

346

Bai Suzhen recklessly succumbs to mortal desires...married Xu Xian...that's already impermissible behavior.

347

You must be be caught by the evil cause of love again.

348

Or else, the consequence is unimaginable.

349

You emotionless, rotten monk.

350

Do you even know what's the evil cause of love?

351

What's wrong with my Older Sister being with Physician Xu? Who are you to hinder them?

352

You are such a busybody.

353

You are still quibbling? As a snake spirit,

354

you indulge in human lust...and bewilder him with sexual charms.

355

I won't allow you to follow Bai Suzhen's footstep.

356

Let's go. Return to Jinshan temple with me.

357

Get out of the way.

358

Move or not?

359

Someone! Help! Someone is robbing a woman!

360

- Help!

- Stop!

361

This monk again?

362

Leave now or else, I will arrest you and take you to the official.

363

Expose her. Expose this evil doer.

364

She simply isn't serving the people...expose her right now. First, shock the world,

365

Second, present a nice counter charge...one that's difficult to clarify.

366

She will revert to the original form

367

Have everyone spurn her.

368

You still care about me?

369

I will escort you back to Baihe Hall. Okay?

370

No. My most important task now is to help you.

371

- Help me?

- Yes.

372

You care about your life experience. I will go with you to find it.

373

I will never regret my decisions.

374

Zhang Yutang.

375

I...like you.

376

At least, it won't change for a hundred years.

377

You..are you willing to like me?

378

I do.

379

Fa Hai, Fa Hai, you are really useless.

380

That Xiao Qing even started to poison people's minds.

381

Yet you can only be at a loss for what to do.

382

and kill Bai Suzhen. Kill Xiao Qing,

383

Kill those evil doers!

384

Qing and Bai are evil doers.

385

yet I've never seen them harm single person.

386

People are differentiated by good and evil. Can demons not be the same.

387

Absurd. Without exception, honest demons cultivates in the mountains enduring hardship through the years.

388

Fa Hai, do you want to personally see people plunged into misery before you're content?

389

Since your heart is kind and hands are soft,

390

Let me handle it instead.

391

Why are there so many evil doers here?

392

Here.

393

This is for you.

394

I came here in the past.

395

There are a few tea and wine shops here.

396

After my foster father completed his hunt, he will bring them here for sale.

397

The shopkeeper at the time even teased my foster father.

398

He said that I was dressed in silks and satin,

399

I didn't look like a son of a hunter.

400

I looked more like a rich kid instead.

401

You dressed like a rich person?

402

Then it's very possible that you're a rich family's son who's been kidnapped.

403

I remember...my foster father said that when he found me,

404

I was in shock and clenched his coat tightly.

405

Couldn't speak a single sentence.

406

Besides the clothes on my body, there was nothing valuable on me.

407

Then where are those clothes now?

408

Gone long ago.

409

However, the flower patterns on those clothes were

410

very numerous and repetitive.

411

I remember...

412

they were like this.

413

Repeating Japanese rose?

414

Very few people dress their sons in such a decorative pattern.

415

Unless...it's a Buddhist wealthy family.

416

Then they would use this kind of pattern. What else do you remember?

417

At the top...there seemed to also be two

418

big cats facing each other.

419

Even two of them.

420

This makes me think of...if I'm not wrong,

421

it's the pattern of lions gazing at the moon.

422

Saying that makes me recall something.

423

There's a blank space at the chest of those clothes.

424

Should be where the longevity ornament hung previously.

425

That's right!

426

So it means that that person took away your longevity ornament.

427

Then we only need to visit the pawnshop now to find some clues.

428

Let's divide and conquer. I'll go east, you go west.

429

Let's go.

430

You that way. Me this way.

431

Manager, do you have any longevity ornaments here?

432

We do. What kind would you like?

433

I like antiques. Ten years old is fine.

434

There are.

435

There are, there are!

436

Please wait. I'll find some for you immediately.

437

Young Lady, these are all top class items.

438

Jade hare...repeating Japanese rose pattern.

439

It's this one! Finally found it after running half a day.

440

This one.

441

This..you can't take it. It's not an overdue pawn.

442

Then who provided the security?

443

- It's... crippled Old Third.

- Crippled Old Third?

444

Where is he? I'll find him to discuss it.

445

I...I only know that he's a gambling addict.

446

He treats this longevity ornament like a good luck charm.

447

Every time he lost he would put it up as security.

448

After that, he'd win everything back.

449

Therefore, this ornament became our frequent customer.

450

He'll return to reclaim this longevity ornament.

451

High high high!

452

High high high!

453

- High high high!

- Open it, open it, open it

454

- Open, open!

455

High! We've won!

456

This... this...

457

Sorry...I've won. Two points higher than you.

458

Old Third.

459

Why so dazed? Go in!

460

Recently, my luck hasn't been good. Lost everything.

461

Tell me, if I go in again and pay with my leg again,

462

I'll only be able to crawl in my next life.

463

Didn't you know? A new dealer came today.

464

Doesn't charge anything when you win. If you lose, your money is returned with interest.

465

Such a good thing?

466

- Are you serious?

- I'm serious.

467

I'm needing money.

468

Look!

469

Who else will challenge me?

470

Me!

471

Everyone make way...make way.

472

- Young Lady.

- Why's he here?

473

- I want to try.

- Fine!

474

If you win, all of these are yours.

475

If you lose, I won't take a single cent.

476

- Really?

- Truly.

477

Xiao Qing, Xiao Qing!

478

Master Bai, has Xiao Qing come back yet?

479

Xiao Qing? Isn't she with you?

480

We agreed to meet from three to five in the afternoon, but I've waited four hours.

481

I still don't see a trace of her.

482

Not good! Xiao Qing is in danger!
