Episode 4

You're such an interesting man.

I apologise for

spoiling your mood.

Get me two bottles of good wine, please.

Besides, I'll treat

this gentleman over here too.

Thank you, childe.

Thank you for your treat.

Hey, you. I'm calling you.

Move a chair here.

All right.

Come here, Brother. Join me.

Come here.

Have a seat, childe.

You don't look like a citizen from Liang dynasty.

Are you from the Western Region?

You're so observant.

Yes, I'm from the Western Region.

My father had business with western foreign merchants.

That's why you look familiar to me.

What business is your family running?

Just a small business. It's not a big deal.

Here. Cheers.

You're elegant.

You must come from a notable family.

It's not convenient

to talk about this here.

All right.

Childe,

I'll be selecting a dancing girl

in my room tomorrow.

Would you like to join me

tomorrow?

Sure.

Here. Cheers.

Great.

Cheers.

I really don't want to go.

Brother Pei

forces me to go.

Just go. That's a good place.

No, it's not good at all.

Places like that are glitzy.

A gentleman shouldn't go there.

Don't say that.

Men are like that. I get it.

Rushuang,

are you giving up on me?

No.

I'm sure you are.

I get it.

You've given up on me.

What's he talking about?

Come in, please.

You're beautiful.

It's been ages since I met a beauty like you.

Great!

Work hard tonight.

You'll be rewarded.

Yes.

What's wrong?

I'm not going.

Go by yourself if you want.

I wonder who will be selected.

Right. The result is not out yet.

That's enough. No point in guessing that.

Hold on for a while.

Not bad.

Go in.

Remove your veil and let me take a look at your face.

Master,

if you want me to remove my veil

just take it slow.

If you can't fulfil my requirement later

it's not just your veil I'm going to remove.

Here.

Cheers.

Cheers.

I can't believe someone in Qingshui County

knows the Zhezhi Dance of the West Region.

Unbelievable.

Great job.

You can go now.

Please leave now.

Are you rejecting me to draw my attention?

Interesting.

Master Sha,

you've to share this beauty with me.

Master Sha.

Just stop dancing.

Come and

drink with me.

Master,

why don't I perform another dance for you?

Great!

Great!

Let's dance together.

Why is the bottom

part of this chest so thick and solid?

You...

Shouldn't you...

I should be unconscious

and lay there with Sha Du,

right?

You think I couldn't see through

your little tricks?

What are you doing here?

Do you know me?

Stop talking nonsense. Give me that.

Something is going on in the room. Come on.

Master Sha.

Master Sha.

Master Sha.

Stop right there.

Wake up, Master Sha.

Stop right there.

Master Sha.

Dance.

-Let's drink. -Master Sha.

Could it be you?

He is so frivolous

and filled with lust.

Why am I angry?

Officer Su.

Officer Su, open the door.

Officer Su.

What's wrong?

Young Master was drinking with a man

and the man is dead now.

Please go and take a look now.

What happened?

The victim is Sha Du from the Worry-free Bar.

He was murdered just now.

And the suspect is Brother Pei.

How did this man die?

How is this happening?

He must be the murderer.

Right.

He's so arrogant.

Why is this happening?

God knows.

He thought he is beyond the law.

Young Master.

I'm Su Ci from Mingjing Office.

Please help us, Officer Su.

Are you all right, Young Master?

Brother Pei, what is going on?

There's no person in charge in the County Court recently.

I'm worried about this.

Right.

The murderer is over there.

Then I'll leave it to you, Brother Su.

Brother Su,

don't you need me to report the case to you?

I can look into it myself.

I'm going to stay over there.

No sign of poisoning.

There's no wound on his body.

But I found this in his mouth.

What's this?

This is called the golden leaf.

People eat this to regain their energy.

But if one eats too much of it

it will easily cause a sudden death.

You really are a woman.

It's cold.

What's going on?

I'm not sure.

Right.

I think he died of alcohol overdose.

There's nothing much to be investigated.

You're right.

It's been so long and they don't let us go home.

This is unacceptable.

Young Master,

why doesn't Officer Su say something?

Can she solve the case?

Just wait for it.

She's about to make it.

Officer Su,

why don't we...

The victim didn't suffer a sudden myocardial infarction.

He was murdered.

What? He was murdered?

And the murderer is still here in this room.

It's not a sudden death?

The murderer

should be Childe Pei.

You...

Childe Pei.

Right. He's the murderer.

I think that he is the most suspicious too.

Who sat here last night?

Please show yourself.

Do you remember who sat here last night?

We did.

Both of them?

Who are they?

They don't look like murderer.

That's right.

What's wrong?

What do they have to do with this case?

Right.

According to the trajectory of the murder weapon,

the murderer

was near this table.

Brother Su,

what's the murder weapon?

There's no sign of the murder weapon.

It's an ice needle.

Ice needle?

What's an ice needle?

We really didn't murder him.

Yes.

Please think about it carefully.

Was there anyone else around you

when Sha Du died?

No.

I didn't notice there's anyone around us too.

Right.

We were drinking just now.

Boss,

your tobacco bag is wet.

That's not a big deal.

That's not a big deal.

If your tobacco bag is wet,

the tobacco inside it can't be used anymore.

That's not a big deal.

In that case, can I borrow it to juice up my brain?

I remember it now.

Boss Ye was here proposing a toast

when the foreigner died.

Yes.

Right. I saw it too.

Brother Su.

Brother Su, watch out!

Stop it.

I...

Well...

How's she?

She's dead.

Alas.

What are you talking about?

I haven't figure out

why she murdered Sha Du.

Nor do I know who is behind all these.

Is it related to the death of Magistrate Kong?

Well, Hong Ye was very loaded.

There are gems on her clothes.

Her clothes are much more beautiful

than those of the Lixiang Restaurant owner.

Rosin powder.

Hong Ye was secretive.

We couldn't find anything in her room.

The ledger.

I'm going to take a look at Sha Du's room.

Me too.

Let's go, Young Master.

Brother Su, you seem familiar with

the location of the secret drawer.

Well, there are only a few types of secret drawers.

I've seen them before, of course I'm familiar with it.

I see.

Well,

a dancing girl

sneaked into this room as well.

What dancing girl?

Was she beautiful?

You know me well.

My eyesight is bad.

I couldn't see her face clearly.

But

she must be beautiful I suppose.

Sha Du did ask all the dancing girls

to dance in the main hall.

We must find her out.

If Sha Du spent less time on the ladies and wine,

maybe he could live a little longer.

Brother Pei,

you've got to learn from this lesson.

Stop living a life like this.

You're right, Brother Xie.

I owe it to you, Brother Su.

Thank you so much for your help.

I'm just doing my job.

Rosin powder again.

Officer Su,

someone is looking for you.

I...

I'm not sure if this is useful to your case.

It's okay. Just tell us what you know.

Our boss

had a lover.

What's so strange about that?

He's very weird.

No one knew his whereabouts.

None of us knew about him.

Then how do you know about it?

One day...

Boss.

Boss, something bad happened.

What's wrong?

Childe Wang and Master Sun get into a fight.

A rectangular scar.

Do you still remember what it looked like?

Here you go, Officer.

I've never seen a stamp like this before.

Brother Su,

do you think that

this scar looks like the one being stamped on prisoners?

Where did you get this ledger?

It's a coincidence.

Someone helped me to get this.

I've glanced through this ledger.

Sha Du was very discreet.

Nothing was recorded

on the black market deal in these five years.

But the amounts of the recent deals

match that of

the lost official silver.

This batch of disaster relief silver

has mostly gone into the black market.

Prince,

I'm afraid someone is plotting surreptitiously.

Magistrate Kong.

Sha Du.

Hong Ye.

This arrow

is the assassin's weapon by the Qingshui River.

It doesn't look like the ordinary arrow.

It looks like the arrow produced in Beirong.

I've written a letter.

Send this arrow along with the letter

to the marquis.

Yes.

Hold on.

Check the background of Su Ci from Mingjing Office.

I need to take a look at the ledger.

Who's there?

It's so hot here.

Brother Su,

what are you doing here?

Brother Su,

are you sleepwalking?

Brother Su, you sleepwalk to my room.

Do you have any feelings for me?

Who has feelings for you?

Since Brother Su is not sleepwalking

and you don't have any feelings for me,

what are you doing here in my room

at midnight?

Are you here

to discuss the case with me?

Yes.

I'm here to discuss the case with you.

Is it about the dancing girl that I told you?

You find her suspicious too?

It won't be a problem

if you want to find her.

I heard that

although that dancing girl is a rookie

she was selected on that day

and outstripped all other beauties.

All dancing girls in the bar

have a deep impression on her.

If you don't mind

tomorrow I can...

I'm the dancing girl.

She admits it pretty easily.

I heard that Magistrate Kong

was closed to Sha Du before he died

from the government office.

It's hard to befriend Sha Du. But he liked beautiful women.

So

I disguised myself as a woman.

I see.

But

you looked great in woman's clothes.

I thought you were a woman too.

Well,

I got the idea from Thousand-faced Man.

Well, you did sacrifice a lot

for your duty.

Sha Du did say that

he didn't just want to remove

your veil.

You...

He was such a scumbag for saying that.

He was bad.

What are you doing with that

in the middle of the night?

I...

Actually, that day

I went to investigate Sha Du on purpose.

I'm serious.

I heard that

a black market trader checked into Worry-free Bar.

I was wondering

if he had anything to do with the disaster relief fund.

So I befriended him on purpose.

Well, you seemed to enjoy yourself that day.

I did that to deceive Sha Du.

Hold on.

Don't you want to know my discovery?

Take a look at this.

It's the same day as we found the official silver in the river.

There really was some deal between

Magistrate Kong and Sha Du.

And now the money and the stocks are all gone.

The relevant people

are all dead.

No.

The pieces of silver should be here.

Today,

when I was checking Sha Du's and Hong Ye's rooms,

I noticed that both of their clothes

had rosin powder on them.

Besides that, the soil that covered the rosin powder

found on Sha Du's shoes looked fresh,

which means

they were there recently.

In that case,

they must have put the pieces of silver

in a warehouse.

When they were leaving the warehouse

the rosin powder got stuck on their clothes and shoes.

Rosin powder

is normally stored in a cool and dry place.

Dry.

Most residents live in the southwest part of the County.

The weather there is perfect. And there are a few rivers.

The North-east region is located on higher ground.

The forest at the border is thick.

The wind is blocked by the hills.

So it is at the mountain foot in the northeast.

There's a road on each side.

Which road should we take?

Don't tell me we're mistaken.

It's not like a warehouse

is in such middle of nowhere.

Over there.

Look. We've found it.

It seems like it's hard to open this lock.

Brother Xie,

that's amazing.

Well.

Here it is.

There're lots of dishes today.

Little Fei Yuan, you're awesome.

Have a seat.

Brother Su,

I'd like to propose a toast for you before we eat.

Brother Su,

you solved the Robbery by Dragon King

and recovered the disaster relief fund.

This is a good deed.

Cheers.

Cheers, Brother Su.

You've solved a big case. Congratulations!

I can't...

I know you can't drink wine.

But you can learn, right?

As a man

how can you not drink wine?

Come on.

Right. Just drink a little.

Since everyone is so happy, right?

That's right.

Come on.

Let me drink for him.

Brother Pei,

how can you drink on his behalf?

Right.

He can't drink, so let me take it for him.

All right.

This wine tastes good.

This is a special wine from Feiyun Manor.

You can only find it here.

I'll use tea as a replacement of wine to express my gratitude.

First of all, I'd like to thank Little Fei Yuan.

You prepared all the dishes that we're going to have.

It's been a long time since I've dined at ease.

This is for you.

Cheers.

Officer Su,

if you want to eat delicious dishes,

just come to the capital and find me.

Okay.

Brother Xie,

you're so enthusiastic.

You saved people under any circumstances.

You're a truthful man.

This is for you.

Brother Su,

you flatter me

with all the good words.

Cheers.

Rushuang,

thank you for helping me to solve the case.

You're honest and truthful.

I envy that.

Just envy?

Do you like me?

Sure.

Of course I like you.

Brother Pei,

Thank you for telling me Prince Qi's story.

That's...

That's it?

Brother Su has made a great speech.

Let's propose a toast for this.

You're right.

Cheers.

Come on.

Cheers.

I'm going to dive in now.

Right.

I'm hungry,

Little Fei Yuan,

your cooking is delicious.

Right?

I'm glad that you like it.

It's very delicious.

Brother Pei, where did you find this guy?

Can you lend him to me for a few days?

You wish.

I'm just joking.

There's a scent of wine in this dish.

This dish is called drunken chicken.

That's mine.
