The Legend of Haolan

Episode 37

Open the door!

Yin Xiaochun, the Emperor wants to see you.

Hurry up!

Where are you taking me? Where? Let go of me!

If you stay, you'll die!

It's none of your business.

I can't just watch you go to your death!

Gao Haoyang, I feel grateful toward you,

but I have to pay for what I owe. A murderer is destined to be executed.

You don't owe anything to anyone!

You don't understand.

This heavy burden that I am carrying, its pressing on me so hard that

I almost can't breathe anymore.

Now it's actually a relief.

I no longer need to pretend or have any apprehension.

You should let me be.

But what is more important than a human life. That's also what you said to me before.

This path was chosen by me.

Since I chose it...

I will not regret it.

Xiaochun, you should go. Go with me now!

I won't go.

Gao Haoyang, how dare you!

Prince, if you truly love Xiaochun.

Then let her go this one time.

The Xiaochun that I loved is dead.

Take all of them down.

Your majesty, you fortell with miraculous accuracy. Rising Sun Palace.

Once you release the news, Gao Haoyang came to rescue Yin Xiaochun straight away.

The King punished him with fifty canings. Expel from the palace.

Even heroes have a weakness for the charms of a beautiful woman.

How was the matter that I asked you to take care of?

All is completed.

But...since the banquet last time.

Your majesty always ask someone to test for poison. Lu Zhu is worry...

There are plenty of exotic and odd poisons.

How many kinds can the silver needle detect?

Many things are normally not harmful.

But when two items are combined only then poison will be released.

For the banquet tonight, I already put inside the wine,

Cloves that I refined ahead of time.

As fragrance wafts about, one get intoxicated.

Clove?

Didn't I told you put turmeric roots in the deer's feeds?

Yes.

After drinking cloves, then eat some turmeric root.

Even a fierce tiger will get completely paralyzed.

But Your Highness you will also...

I will drink the antidote beforehand. During that time, in one command,

the entire palace.

Will be captured like the object in the bag.

Lu Zhu will be sure to do all I can to help Your Highness achieve your desire.

[ Protect Peace Palace ]

Royal Descendant, your majesty invites to attend the banquet.

Take good care of Zheng'er.

Yes.

Go quickly.

Please forgive me, Madam Royal Descendant's presence is also requested at the banquet this time.

Zheng'er experienced shock and fear when he fell in the lake.

As the mother, she ought to stay and care for him.

Let's go, don't cause any delay.

Per your majesty's instructions, must invite both of you to attend.

I dare not disobey.

A woman needs time to dress up.

I hope the enovy would be willing to wait a while.

Dare not rush you. I shall wait outside.

Let's go.

Haolan.

Yiren.

Looks like this time, I will not be able to accompany you.

No, I will not leave the two of you behind.

Going forward by myself.

For my sake, please return to Qin State.

I can find another opportunity.

Don't let an opportunity slip as it may never come again.

Yiren, I believe in you.

Please you should also trust me. I will take good care of Zheng'er.

If you really are considerate of us.

Then you should turn around and go without hesitation.

When you have stamp out all the obstructions.

Then fittingly and properly take us back to Qin.

I know this process will be very challenging.

But regardless of what happends, you should always remember.

I am waiting for you.

Yiren, Zheng'er and I will always wait for you.

There surely will come a time for the reunion. No need to be reluctant to part.

Don't worry, once matters are finished, we will immediately come get you.

Royal Descendant, time to go.

Wait for me to come get the both of you.

- Congratulations, Your Highness. - That way.

Yes.

Haolan!

-Your Highness! -Your Highness!

Royal Descendant, what's the matter?

Our son fell into the water and couldn't stop crying.

The Royal Descendant is not feeling too well after taking care of our son through the night,

so he would have wanted to rest up for the day.

But since today is the Imperial Banquet, he obviously needs to attend.

Yiren.

Your Majesty and Your Highness, may you enjoy health, happiness, and fortune

for a thousand years.

Yi'er,

I would like to congratulate you on becoming the Crown Prince.

Please accept this drink from me.

I should be the on to toast Your Highness first.

Come, everyone. Let's drink till we're drunk.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Yiren.

Queen, you usually can't hold your alcohol. Why are you drinking so much today?

It's not good for your health.

Your Majesty, do you remember what you said to me

the first time we met?

That was such a long time ago,

and I am not too good remembering

what happened in the past.

So what did I say then?

You said, whose daughter is that?

Why is she staring at me?

I do remember now;

you kept staring at me then.

Now, I'm the one staring at you.

Why so much trouble?

That was such a great time.

You weren't the king, and I wasn't the queen.

We had each other, harmony, and happiness.

But you had to make me, a neglected prince,

to this throne.

I haven't been happy ever since I became king.

Your Majesty, haven't I done everything just for you?

I will always remember all that you did for me.

You know everything I did,

I did it for you.

You know it's all for you.

Lu Zhu, don't you have a special talent?

Come, perform for us.

Let everyone enjoy the show.

Yes.

Yiren.

Yiren.

Excellent blade skill.

I have never seen such unique skill.

This is delicious.

- Reward granted. - Thank you, Your Majesty.

Good.

- Good. - Good.

Yiren!

You finally made your move.

Royal Father.

Save the king.

You slut, I underestimated you.

Aren't you the same?

Always suspicious of me.

You've been acting in front of me. You think I didn't know?

Yes, I have been acting.

You have been, too. We understand each other,

that's why we became husband and wife.

You say I am as venomous as a snake,

you must mean that I killed Consort Yuan.

I didn't just Consort Yuan, I also killed Consort Mei.

Concubines Liu and Liu were also killed by me.

I also killed Minister Meng.

- Too many to count. - What about Xiaochun?

Your Highness, don't you understand yet?

Xiaochun would rather die than tell the truth because she was threatened by the queen.

She forced the Yin family to do her biddings.

Your Majesty, you are so smart you should have known.

But You've always tolerated me

because you loved me.

You can kill everyone in the country,

I still would not love you.

I killed Consort Yuan

because her clan

abused their power to sell government positions for profit.

I killed Concubine Sung because she was a spy for Wei State

to steal military secrets. I killed Concubine Yuan because

she always naively

pushed me too much.

As for Minister Meng?

I really can't remember how he died.

Such a heartless lethal woman.

You probably have forgotten about years ago when all the princess fought for the throne,

I overcame all the difficulties and helped you win the throne with my life.

I even killed your opponents to secure your throne.

I was willing to have blood on my hands and bones beneath my footsteps.

At that time, you didn't think I was

unkind, without grace,

not suitable. On the contrary, you complimented me.

You said I was smart and knew how to win.

You swore that you would never betray me.

I would be the only one you favored.

Now, I am the queen. You think I am cruel

just to kill a lowly woman.

Why?

You are the most vicious woman

I have ever seen.

As a husband, you betray love and loyalty.

As a king, you do not honor your promise.

I should have lynched you by a thousand blades.

Except that, you are my eternal love.

I do not mind doing everything for you.

There fore, I allow you to have thousands of flowers in the palace,

I allow you to have dozens of consorts and concubines.

But I would never allow someone to

show off in front of me. That person

must die without mercy.

Your Highness, the king is designated by Heaven.

You will not meet a good end by killing him. Please stop.

You shut your mouth.

Heaven? What Heaven?

If Heaven makes me unhappy, I will disobey Heaven.

A foolish clown almost interrupted me.

Princess Qionghua is my only master.

She ordered me to serve you so that I can help you die.

Lu Zhu!

Bring her out.

Get up.

Haolan, so young Zheng falling into the lake

was a good show put up by you two.

- To cooperate is to trust each other. - Why should I trust you?

Because we have a common goal: to kill her.

You took the Qin army's vine armor to weave into a cradle.

It would not sink in water.

Zheng is protected by the gods.

Your Highness, we are probably some worthless insects in your eyes.

But we are human, and we will fight back when we're pushed to the extremes.

Didn't you almost get stung by insects today?

You can fight me?

Traitor, you will die horribly.

You are jealous and vicious.

You will not get what you want when you rebel.

You will die a horrible death.

Evil woman, you will not end up well.

You will not end up well.

Live if you surrender, else you die!

You have 30 minutes. Crawl over there if you don't want to die.

Otherwise, we'll kill without mercy.

Haolan, you are the one with the most unyielding character.

Since I am the kind who cares about old friendships, will leave you body intact.

Report !

Report to your majesty, Liang Po and General Gao Haoyang leading troops. They have the palace surrounded.

How could that be?

I understand now.

What do you understand?

Since Prince Jian's rebellion

You deliberately set yourself into impasse.

You are certain that I would lead troops to help you, taking the chance to test the truth.

Then you grant Prince Yu to be the Crown Prince.

That forced Prince Yu to raise his army.

You are extremely vicious.

You let out fake news,

forced Gao Haoyang to saved his beloved.

Your goal was to see me punish him severely.

So I followed your idea.

Then the matter can progress successfully.

What about Liang Po? There's got to be commotion

There should have been sign of their movements.

General Lian Po is a god of war.

If he doesn't want you know, how would you know?

You know me so well, then don't I know you well too?

Proclaiming the crown prince was meant for Consort Yuan on the surface.

But my entire plan is

to lure you to show your hand.

Understand now?

King Cheng defeated bandits

and allowed them to drop their weapons.

Your Highness, please tell them to drop their weapons.

Don't kill each other anymore.

See what kind of heir you have found.

My people will die for me and with me.

Why not!

What are you doing?

This jeweled tiara symbolizes such high authority,

but I never cared about it.

Don't, don't come over.

Stop.

You haven't forgotten your pledge, have you?

For my wife's deep and unyielding love,

I swear to Heaven today

that I shall never betray you my whole life.

I haven't forgotten it, but in this world, promises are like lies.

I already knew it.

That's why, you should

die with me.

- Your Highness! - Royal Father!

Your Highness!

Zhao Dan.

I've never begged anyone.

This is my command.

You must... go with me.

No.

No, I don't want to.

You and I will not meet again in the next life.

Remember.

I killed you with my own hands.

In this world,

no one can win over me.

Leave none of them alive.

Mercy, Your Highness.

- Your Highness. - Your Highness.

Leave no one alive.

Kill!

Hurry.

Your Highness, Your Highness. Royal Physician!

Go see my father first.

Your Highness, Your Highness.

How is my father?

He is severely wounded and needs help right away.

Come, where is the wakening incense?

Follow me!

Stop them.

You are alright, aren't you?

We are alright.

We are alright.

- What are you doing? - Who are you exactly?

Your Highness must be confused.

Who is he if he is not the Royal Descendant of Qin?

Royal Descendant always reads and writes calligraphy.

His fingers have calluses.

Who are you?

Guards, search the palace.

Yes.

It's too late.

It's all too late.

Your Highness, we chased 20 li outside the capital, but didn't find him.

What did you say?

Your Highness, don't waste your time.

You won't be able to find him.

Abandoning his wife and son,

how cruel that is!

I am satisfied that my husband is in safety.

Aren't you afraid that I'll kill you and your son?

Why are you laughing?

Yiren is the Queen of Qin's adopted son.

He will be the heir to the Qin's throne.

If you kill his wife, what good will it do for you other than inciting the ire of Qin?

Don't forget, Handan is still in ruin.

Your Crown Prince's title is not secured yet.

Li Haolan!

In that case, you go ahead and stay in Zhao.

Thank you, Your Highness.

Wait.

What else will Your Highness command?

Yin Xiaochun has refused food for 3 days.

Go talk to her.

You know she was forced.

Why don't you forgive her?

She needs to pay for killing.

Then why ask me to talk to her?

I just want her to stay alive.

To live a long time while

experiencing heart-wrenching pain.

I want her to live in unbearable pin for the rest of her life.

You should leave. I don't want to listen to you.

I told you to leave.

Haven't you heard?

I won't touch it.

I don't want to live.

I am guilty of killing and should pay,

even though i was forced to.

I killed.

Leave.

- I don't want you here. - If you could choose again,

would you still do it?

I bet that you would still do it.

I don't like wars, but

if I am at the battleground

facing enemies with sharp blades,

I would kill, too.

It's because I want to live.

You are human. To protect your self, your family,

what's wrong with what you did?

But I killed.

Haolan, I killed.

With my hands, I killed the innocent Consort Yuan.

I killed the biological mother of my most beloved.

Your only weakness is

that you are not strong enough.

The weak ones are always controlled by someone.

Therefore, you'll have to pay for your crime with the rest of your life.

He... will he ever forgive me?

He's just a man. Is he worth your life?

Xiaochun.

You have to atone for your conscience.

Save even more lives to repent for your crime.

As for that man,

If he forgives you, you will live.

If he doesn't forgive you,

you still need to live on.

Eat a little.

Come here.

I added greens and minced meat.

Smells nice.

This is the last time I'll visit you here.

The Crown Prince has issued an order

to evict me from the palace and to move to Handan City.

Take care of yourself.

Are all of her followers eliminated?

Yes.

Your Highness, it's time for your medicine.

Here is another one, right?

Then I'll give you another chance, to earn credit to erase your guilt.

You personally

send her on her journey. (meaning, kill her yourself.)

Obeyed.

His Majesty has order to kill Physician Yin with poisoned wine.

Xiaochun.

Xiaochun.

Someone, get the doctor.

Your Highness, Yin Xiaochun is already dead of poisoning.

Nonsense. If I say she is only sick, then that's how she is.

You Highness, she really is dead.

Your Highness!

Shut up!

Xiaochun.

I'm sorry.

I came too late.

I'll take you away now.

We'll leave here and never separate again.

Stop him.

Let go!

Let me go!

Your Highness, listen, Yin Xiaochun is already dead.

Shut up!

Didn't you hate her and wanted to torture her until she died?

She is dead now. Are you satisfied?

You've revenged. Can't you let her go peacefully?

Is her companionship for over 10 tens

not enough to pay for her crime?

Is it not enough for you that she's dead?

Take him.

I am ordered to escort the wife of Royal Descendant to leave the palace.

Allowed.

[ Imperial Sun Gate ]

Xiaochun, you're awake.

Didn't I die?

You gave me the stop-breathing pill.

So I asked General Gao for a small favor.

Haolan, that was so daring of you.

With General Gao's help, we have safely left the palace.

He wont', he won't let me go.

Move, move.

Move. General Gao.

What is the meaning of this?

I am commanded to leave the palace. Who dares to stop me?

Royal Descendant's wife and you can leave of course.

But please leave the corpse inside the carriage with us.

The dead deserves the highest respect. She is already dead,

why won't you let her rest in peace?

This is what the Crown Prince wants. We are also just following orders.

Please forgive us, General.

What if I insist?

Then we're sorry.
