The Legend of Hao Lan

Episode 29

Everyone knows the great beauty of Marchioness Xuan.

She has many officials who worships her.

It has always been the men who try to gain your favors.

This extent of completely uncalled for attention...

Does it mean your amorous feelings have been stirred?

Miss Bai, please speak cautiously.

If you are here to seek personal vengeance, please come back another day.

I have no time to entertain you today.

Who says I'm here to seek revenge?

I... This... This is making me appear to be petty.

I'm only here to...

To join... join in the excitement.

Look at how good her complexion is.

It's as fair as snow, and as smooth as congealed fat.

Let me have a feel of it.

- This... What is this? - Madame, it's a cockroach!

- What is this? - A spider.

- Quick. Help me! - A scorpion!

Hurry. Help me please!

Did you catch it?

Wait till Lord Wu'an comes back.

I will seek justice for this!

Marchioness. Marchioness!

Please wait. Marchioness!

Take your time. I won't be seei

Marchioness.

These problems are all due to me.

I apologize. Please forgive me.

That little girl. How dare she be so impertinent.

That Bai Family is truly impudent!

Everyone yearns to have what they lack.

Marchioness is mature and beautiful.

Everyone in Xianyang City knows about you.

That is just a brat who still smells of undried mother's milk (immature and inexperienced).

Naturally, her heart is full of envy and so would speak rudely.

Marchioness, why get angry over it?

Actually, I am not someone without any magnanimity.

It's just that the way she slanders me,

I'm afraid that you would have some misunderstanding about me after hearing what she said.

I will naturally seek justice for you, Marchioness.

Here.

Lord Lu, you won't take it and just leave the state of Qin. Right?

Of course, I will return.

That's fine then. I will wait for you in the state of Qin.

Do you know that you almost messed up an important matter of mine?

Who let you bully me earlier?

Let me tell you. This is all your retribution!

What are you doing? Don't come near me.

I... I'll tell my father... hey...!

How dare you spank me!

It hurts badly! My father will kill you!

I... I... I was wrong.

Not even my father would dare to spank me.

Everyone isn't your father.

He can't bear to discipline you. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't dare to.

If you let me see your mischief again, watch out for I will strip your claws off!

Where are you going? Stand right there!

What now? Do you still need some more spanking?

No... Not that.

I just want to ask you...

Are you leaving now?

Yes.

No. What's that...

Don't think that I am young now. I will grow up.

What do you want to say?

I... Actually, others would say that I don't look too bad.

Compared to that Marchioness, I don't pale in comparison.

Let go of my hand!

I am faithful and unchanging too.

What do you really want to tell me?

That... My father said

that whoever is able to discipline me would be my husband.

Just marry me. All right?

Childish!

No. Lu Buwei!

Stand right there! I'm not done talking yet!

I will wait for you in Xianyang City!

You must come back to marry me. Did you hear me?!

Master, who's that silly little girl? Does she know what faithful and unchanging mean?

Just ignore her. Crazy little girl.

I will be waiting for you!

I will be waiting for you!

Haolan!

What are you doing at such an early hour?

Nothing much. It's just that there are many matters to do during the day. I'm just washing some clothes ahead of time. That's all.

Are you wounded?

No. I didn't.

I didn't...

Qin Royal Descendant, Haolan is wounded. The water is redish in color!

Why are you so stupid?

Yiren.

Don't touch cold water. Go rest on the couch.

Hurry. Go!

I have laid down for a whole day.

If I continue to lay down, it would be so uncomfortable.

Please let me go out. All right?

Where do you want to go?

I have completed all the winter clothes and socks for the front line.

I am thinking of getting some more.

Go tomorrow instead.

Yiren.

Go back.

I have completed all the winter clothes and socks for the front line.

I am thinking of getting some more.

Go tomorrow instead.

YIren, those materials for making garments, did you collect them for me?

Then how did you know...

Physician Yin said don't touch cold water during these few days.

Also don't run around too much. She gave you a prescription. Slowly recuperate in the future.

Thanks.

A Yue.

How is it?

I already investigated Prince JIao.

Found out he really does have close relationship with Chen Yuan, the vice envoy for the current diplomatic mission.

Few months ago, Chen Yuan moved into manor with warm spring.

That is not what his salary can afford.

Did you already suspected?

The person who killed Lu Buwei and deliberately wreck the peace talks

must be Prince Jiao.

- I will go kill him. - He has countless guards around him.

How do you kill? Even if you reveal this in front of the King now.

There's no evidence, how do you prove it?

In addition, that is the King's own son.

Very easily tell who is more important?

A Yue, if you can't keep calm, you will make a mistake like me.

This debt will be paid, but not now.

Why?

To confront a powerful enemy, Your Highness has just ordered Prince Jiao to gather up grains and organize more soldiers from within the city.

Our private revenge needs to wait until the future.

Now our master's businesses are closed and ready to be moved.

But will the war really come to Handang City?

Even though Zhao army is trapped in Changping.

But that's forty five thousand people.

Even if Qin army is had amazing ability.

It's not possible to destroy in one night.

As long as the reinforcements come in time, front and back work together

Zhao state has a chance to win.

I also hope Zhao state will win.

But that is Lu Buwei's entire asset, tied to the survival of his whole clan.

Definitely can not use it to take a risk.

Follow my instructions.

Close off all the businesses that can be closed.

Arrange for the old, women and children to leave the city.

Master.

Master.

We already ran two horses to death. Why are you in such hurry?

Didn't you hear what the passerby's said?

The Zhao army is trapped in Changping. Once Changping goes under.

Handang is the next target.

I need to rush back right away.

I will go back to Handang first.

Master be careful on the road.

What did you said?

Your Highness, we are useless.

Both Chu & Wei states said Qin and Zhao will eventually be at peace, they refused to send reinforcements.

Qin already killed our Zhao's envoy. How will the two states negotiate for peace?

Your Highness, there is a strange matter.

Both states said that our envoy did arrived at Xinyang.

Already commencing peace negotiations.

Royal father, Lu Buwei clearly died.

Looks like this excuse Wei and Chu use for not sending troops.

JIao'er, General Changping had been trapped for over forty days now, how is your progress in collecting grains?

Royal father, with difficulty I was only about to gather five thousand soldiers. Grains are not fully collected yet.

Such an army, mainly composed of older, sick, handicapped people.

The oldest already passed sixty years old.

The youngest is twelve years old.

How can such an army resist a fierce opponent?

Prince, this matter can not be delay any further. It's already over forty days.

What will the soldiers at the front lines eat and drink?

Even if Qin only surrounds them without attacking.

They will die by hunger.

Your Highness.

The general from Changping is back.

What?

- Where are they? - Outside the court.

Subtitles brought to you by The Scintillating Team @ Viki.com

You are...

Your Highness, Changping lost!

- Changping lost! - Changping lost!

Your Highness, General Zhao Kuo battled to death.

Changping lost.

Lost?

Then, what about my four hundred and fifty thousand soldiers?

Where is my huge army of four hundred and fifty thousand soldiers?!

Military was without provision for forty six days, killed all the horses.

Only stopped at not eating people.

General Zhao tried to break out five times,

He died from exhuastion. Once the general is gone.

Without a leader, the remaining people surrender to Qin.

Who knew that Bai Qi lied. He killed all the forty five thousand soldiers.

All killed?

Only left about two hundred young soldiers to come back to tell your highness.

Zhao State's times is up, why don't we surrender to Qin.

Forty five thousand people.

My Zhao State is over.

Over.

Your highness.

Royal father.

Your highness.

Royal Father.

[ Handan City ]

[ Green Dragon Gate ]

Stop.

I am the envoy to Qin, reporting back,

That is Lu Buwei.

Oh my god, he is still alive. Hurry report to your highness Official Lu is back.

Your highness can't attend to Lu Buwei.

Qin army already took Changping. Zhao State will be finished.

Xiao Yue.

Mast...

Mast...what?

You didn't see wrongly. I am safely back.

Where is Haolan?

Speak.

Sister Haolan married Qin Royal Descendant.

What?

[ Moving Clouds Flowing Water ]

Treasure Lu, you didn't die. Still alive.

Scram.

Such a big temper.

[ Protect Peace Palace ]

You are back.

Why?

I almost died for you. yet you took advantage of it. You deserve to die.

You are back.

I will return her without blemish.

To her, I was only the floating device during a crisis moment.

Once she arrives at the shore, this floating device no longer of use.

Now you came at just the right moment.

You are willing to let go?

Didn't you hear that Qin army already took over Changping.

I think Zhao State will fall into chaos. Immediately take her out of here.

Go to the main hall.

She is right there.

Lu Buwei.

Lu Buwei.

You are Lu Buwei.

You've returned! Am I right?

Yes, I'm sorry that I'm late.

Sorry it's all my fault.

I knew

You will not betray our promise. You will definitely return.

They all said that you died, but deep in my heart I didn't believe it.

You promised me, you will not left me by myself.

- But Royal Descendant and I... Don't bring that up.

Let's leave this place okay?

- Leave? - Zhao State will fall into chaos.

It will be useless if we stay here.

We have to leave immediately.

Then let me go tell the Prince.

Don't speak of this person.

To bring Qin Royal Descendant at this time, we will become the entire Zhao State's enemy.

Immediately change into maid's uniform. I will figure a way for you to leave the palace.

Lu Buwei, we can not leave Royal Descendant behind.

You suffered so much to get to Qin,

That was for him as well.

Yes,

I worked hard for him.

But he can't break faith and trust, steal what I love.

The situation is not like what you said.

You don't know, you basically do not understand Qin Royal Descendant.

In order to solve a problem, he has thousands of ways.

But chose the most selfish one.

He wanted to possess you for himself.

Openly.

Don't you understand by now?

He loves you.

Haolan. Qin Royal Descendant loves you.

Therefore he selfishly wants to keep you by his side.

To achieve his despicable goal.

I will not forgive him.

Starting today.

Our collaboration is ended.

Let us go.

Lu Buwei, please allow me to say goodbye.

There's no time.

Haolan.

You can't leave.

Lu Buwei.

Even if he is really sick, there's physician in the palace.

Haolan, don't bother anymore.

Li Haolan, you really can not leave.

Once you leave, how will Royal Descendant be at?

He will become the butt of joke of the entire world.

This is a fatal disaster. General Gongsun.

You should immediately take Royal Descendant to avoid it.

Go.

Li Haolan.

She is your woman, why did you let him take her?

Keeping her and let her to die with me?

What are you saying?

Royal Descendant, are you all right?

Don't scare me. I will get Haolan back for you.

Not allowed to go.

Royal Descendant.

Don't do it.

Don't let know.

What time is it already? You are still considering her?

Let her go. Let her go!

Then I will look for medicine for you.

You wait for me. Don't move around.

Royal Descendant, wake up.

Men. Men!

[ Red Sun Palace ]

Your Majesty, you must take care of your health.

Don't get angry.

I'm so regretful.

I regret listening to Zhaokuo.

I'm so hateful.

I hate Baiqi for being inhumane.

Four-hundred thousand people... a whole four-hundred thousand.

They want to ruin the State of Zhao's foundation.

Royal Father, now that our army lost at Changping.

Then Qin's next target is Handang City.

Sincerely asked Royal Father to allow General Liang back.

Why did Royal Father switched out Liang Po?

Did you completely forget?

General Liang is skilled in defending a city.

But he was conceited about own merits, rejected commands on many occasions.

If you asked him to return,

that is announcing to the world that Royal Father admits

that his wrong judgement believing in Zhao Kuao.

caused the death of forty five thousand soldiers at Changping.

Such extreme sky like mistake, can you carry it?

Then according to Elder Brother, what should we do now?

Changping is already mountain of bodies and ocean of blood, hell on earth.

Inside Hangdang City, there's unhindered grievance, cries shake the sky.

In order vent out the public's anger.

Also energize their resolute to get revenge on Qin.

There is only one way.

If you have a way, say it.

Use Qin State Royal Grandson's fresh blood.

To offer sacrifice for the forty five thousand officers and fighters.

Princess is really ruthless.

Normally loved to death,

during key moment willing to kill own lover.

Your love desires really makes one's hair standing on one end.

Consort Han seems to especially care much about everything happening in the palace.

Princess changed face so quick, Qion Hua have no choice but to care.

Han Qion Hua, Zhao State lost devstately to Qin.

Is this really good for Han State?

Perhaps your father Han King is currently shaking in fear.

I suggest you should save your breathe,

care more about yourself.

Ya'er changed.

Changed to someone scary.

Did you see her expression before?

Such excitement, such passion.

As if sending Qin Royal Descendant to the gullotine.

Is the most passionate event in her life.

What does that mean?

For love, she's already crazy.

A clear headed crazy person who is capable of anything.

Haolan, hurry and change your clothes.

I will arrange for carriage and pass to leave the palace. In two hours will start out.

We will head out In two hours.

Haolan, I know. Handang to you.

You have feelings for every plant and trees.

But this is not the time to hesitate.

There's nothing more important than our lives.

We must leave Handang first.

All right. I will wait for you.

Prince, Something already happened to Changping.

If Zhao King must kill Qin Royal Descendant.

Please step out and save him.

Since you and I are friends.

I will speak frankly.

Royal Father does want to kill Qin Royal Descendant.

But I can't be involve in this matter.

Is Prince not willing to help or don't dare to help?

Prince Jiao is a base man, he never hides his ambitions.

But you normally speaks of morality.

That day when I snatch back the cloth from your hands, didn't you want to kill me?

You are saying I am pretentious gentleman?

I can't deal with this matter. Please leave.

How is Consort Han?

What is your meaning?

Most consorts likes use to flower and herbs to create a perfume.

Only consort Han is different from others.

She captures civets for perfume for sweet and longer lasting fragrance.

When I entered the hall.

Noticed that Prince's sleeves tainted with some.

You are wanton!

There are many eyes and ears inside the palace. If I figure out a secret,

Other will too.

You should remind Han Consort, use these strong perfumes less often.

Li Haolan, you are truly a ruthless character.

You should think clearly. Once you are careless,

tomorrow, this news will be known by all.

What did I say before, this girl is really cunning.

She is not here to ask for a favor,

she is black mailing us.

This is not black mail, it is a collaboration.

Consort, saving Qin Royal Descendant, give Qin State a favor.

Absolute good for Han State, no harm at all.

Haolan, I really don't understand.

You are from Zhao.

As long as your break off from Qin Royal Descendant, find another elite person.

Isn't that an easy task?

When I was in dire straits, he extend a helping hand.

Now he is in danger, how I can abandon him ?

All right, I will agree to it.

Qiong Hua.

Killing Qin Royal Descendant is just to make Qin King angry.

But if we keep him, he can be a human shield.

At least when Qin attacks into Handang, with him on hand.

Who dares to come near us?

Consort Han.

Go.

All right, I will do my best.

Li Haolan.

Do you know why I agreed to this?

Not because you saw thru our secret.

It's because of what you said.

What did I said?

You said, it's for repaying back.

Once received others generosity, will remember for thousand years.

This phrase is easier said than done.

Nowadays, dukes and princes are fighting. Etiquettes collapsed.

How many people can do it?

- Consort. - Call me Qiong Hua.

I don't like that title.

Qiong Hua, did you regret coming to Zhao State?

There must be sacrifices in a war.

Even though as Han Princess I am noble.

But still only a gift from Han State.

But I refuse to yield to my fate.

Qiong Hua.

Do you think I am pathetic?

In reality, sometimes I think

I am overreaching.

The peony in Zhao palace is pretty.

But the blooms are lifeless.

I wish you can see the peonies in Xincheng.

Huge masses.

Most splendid in the world.

That is really called beautiful.

There will be opportunity.

Li Haolan, you already did all you can.

All that is possible for by humanity and duty. Before the war start, quickly go.

- Please help me announce to Royal Father, I need to see him. - That...

If missed an important manner, can you bear it?

Elder brother, Royal Father is not well, he is already lay down to rest.

You shouldn't disturb anymore.

Ya'er, I have important matter to see royal father for. Please do not obstruct.

Elder brother, I suggest that you shouldn't seek own humiliation.

Ya'er, who allowed you to speak this way to your Elder Brother?

No manners at all!

Who is it, shouting outside?

Royal father, I have important matter to see you for.

Late night already, why aren't you two sleeping?

Royal father, I am here...

regarding tomorrow's execution of Qin Royal Descendant.

You want to ask favor for Qin Royal Descendant?

Royal father, I am asking favor for him.

I am considering Zhao State.

Qin just killed our forty five thousand soldiers.

Can't us Qin killed his one royal grandson?

Royal Father, Lord Wu'an Bai Qi

is currently waiting for the command to attack Handang City.

If we killed Qin Royal Descendant at this moment, anger Qin people.

If they attack right away, what will we use to shield ourselves?

If they come we will fight.

Elder brother shouldn't forget.

The blood soaked robes of Changping's soldiers, bones buried under yellow sand.

Their souls will never to able to return back to Handang.

Even just for them, you should speak in such weak terms.

Ya'er!

If you were seeking revenge for the dead officers and fighters,

I wouldn't say half of a word of no.

But you are clearly doing this to vent own selfish anger.

Qin Royal Descendant married someone else, you are very bitter, you are scheming to get him killed.

I ask you, what position do you put Royal Father in?

What postion do you put our entire Zhao State?

Elder brother.

Ya'er, I know you are stubborn since young.

But this time I never expect that

you are so unreasonable.

You think about it yourself.

Is your lover important

or the safety of the entire Zhao State.

One person's own private feeling is incomparable to the hate of home country.

Elder brother doesn't believe me.

All right, I am willing to use death to show you.

What I am doing is not for own selfish reason.

Ya'er, don't fool around.

Ya'er, loosen your hand.

Why are you so foolish?

Royal father, do you believe me now?

Yes, I believe you.

Qin Royal Descendant is the love of my heart.

But he is Zhao State's enemy.

Now the crowd is angry.

- If we don't kill him, how do we mitigate the public resentment. - Kill, kill.

- Royal father. - Royal father.

I am willing to marry Chu State prince.

To ask for Chu State's aid.

Ya'er, looks like you care deeply for Zhao State.

I believe you.

Haolan, once I finished the handover, we will leave the city immediately.

Slowly.

Sitou Que. This is...

Forty five thousand soldiers died at Changping.

Every family in Handang.

Lost a husband, father, son.

Every family is in mourning clothes.

It's getting late, once master is back, we need to get on the road.

Going to Chu State first, I heard that your mother is also from Chu State.

You must want to go back to visit.

It was my fault before.

I should send letter home early on.

To avoid you being worry for so long.

What did you say?

The great cause is most important. You must already understand.

Master also didn't have a choice.

Sitou Que.

Haolan.

Haolan, where are you going?

You had chance

to send me a letter. Is that correct?

This is all in the past.

Didn't I came back safely?

Why did you suddenly ask this?

Lu Buwei, do you know when I received the news of your death,?

how much pain I felt? How sad I felt?

Did you never though for me?

Even one bit, one strand?

Haolan.

The great cause is most important. That is not what Sitou Que would say.

Lu Buwei, Treasurer Lu, I've given you, one after another chance.

But I overestimated myself again.

When you thoroughly overlook me.

Wholeheartedly chase after your power,

I found out I am wrong.

- Especially big mistake. - The situation I was in.

I couldn't leak any news.

Yes,

You do not want to take any risk.

Therefore you'd rather conceal the truth from me.

Have you ever though...

If I was a very fragile woman

There's a chance I would sacrifice myself for my beloved.

You never though of it, not even for one moment. Is that right?

Fortunately I am not, I didn't.

Because I have knowledge.

Inside Lu Buwei's heart, I am only a decoration behind the great cause.

Even if you go back now.

Qin Royal Descendant will definitely die.
