A happy mile-high howdy-do, fans.

This is Play-By-Play Pete

from high above in the Sport-y-thon Blimp.

And joinin' me to bring you the action is my ol' pal Donald Duck.

It's gonna be one mighty big sports day, eh, quackers?

Yeah, Pete, it sure is.

No time for chit-chat, buddy.

Let's get right down to the Sport-y-thoners.

Hi, there!

Oh, hello!

-Hiya! -[barks]

Hiya, fans! I'm the referee.

I'll make sure everyone plays fair and square,

'cause that's the Sport-y-thon way.

I've even got an official referee whistle.

[no sound]

[rattles]

[inhales] [blows harder]

Pineapple underpants.

[Pete] Wowsers! I think I recognize that silhouette.

It looks like this Sport-y-thon is going to be an intergalactic event.

It's Martian Mickey,

Martian Minnie, and Pluto from Pluto.

This'll make the games real interestin'

because the folks from Mars

have never played any kind of sports before.

Take it away, Clarabelle!

It's time to play Handy-Hoops!

Mickey, Minnie and Martian Minnie, the Sport-y-thon team,

are warmin' up for the game.

Let's listen in.

Oh, this looks like fun! How do we play?

Well, we're trying to make a basket.

You aim at the hoop and throw, like this.

[grunts]

[chuckles] Let me try that again.

[grunts]

Gosh! Missed again.

What's wrong, Earth Mickey?

Well, this is Handy-Hoops.

I'm trying to get the ball through the hoop.

Let me try.

[Mickey] Okay. Now remember,

bend your knees, flex your elbows

and keep your eye on the basket.

[grunts]

Wow! You did it!

Thank you. Does that mean we've won the game?

[giggles] Oh, we're just getting warmed up.

When the game starts, we'll be playing against another team.

That's right, Minnie.

In the game of Handy-Hoops,

the Sport-y-thon team will play against a team of Handy Helpers.

To win, the Sport-y-thoners only have to make one basket.

But making even one basket won't be easy.

Ha! Not with those Handy Helpers

doin' their best to block every shot.

Right, partner?

Yes! In fact...

[horn blows]

Oh! The game's startin'. Let's get right to it.

Remember, to win,

you only have to make one basket. Good luck!

[inhales] [no sound]

[Pete] And there goes Mickey. He's dribblin'.

He passes it to Minnie.

She scoops right through those Handy guys.

And now, Martian Minnie shoots.

And she...

Oh, too bad.

Hmph! It really is harder to make a basket

when someone's playing against you.

But that sure was a good try. You almost made it.

Almost! But I think I know how to make one for sure.

Great! Let's try it again.

Minnie!

Martian Minnie, here you go!

You won't block me this time.

Coming through!

[giggles] Oh!

-[buzzer sounds] -Huh?

What's wrong, Earth friend Goofy?

Well, somethin' in my brain is tellin' me

usin' a jet pack to make a basket just ain't right.

Hmm. Why not?

Well, uh, uh...

Hmm.

Uh... Hmm.

Well, for one thing,

no one else has any wonderful Martian gizmos

like you do, Martian Minnie.

Yeah. You're the only one who can fly.

It's not fair.

Oh, I see.

To be fair, I shouldn't use my jet pack to fly.

Yeah, that's it. A good sport always plays fair.

I'll just leave my jet pack over here,

and I won't use my jet shoes to fly, either.

Now there's a good sport for you.

[gasps] Ooh, don't you just love gizmos?

Wonder what this button does?

[whirring]

This looks like a job for a Mouseketool.

Everybody say,

[sing-song] "Oh, Toodles!"

He shoots!

[Mickey] Let's see. We have a badminton net,

a soccer ball, a tennis racket,

and the Mystery Mouseketool.

[Martian Minnie] Which one can help us catch my runaway jet pack?

[Minnie] Oh! We can use the badminton net to catch it.

[Mickey] We got ears. Say, "Cheers."

Donald! This way!

Incoming!

Oof!

Whoa!

There. That's much better.

[gasping]

[coughing]

Donald, tell the fans what it's like to be chased by a jet pack.

Well, I gotta tell you...

Later! The game is startin' again.

I have an idea how to get past those pesky Handy Helpers.

Okay, first...

[indistinct whispering]

And that should do it.

Your ball, Martian Minnie!

[Pete] Would you look at that?

The Sport-y-thoners are really tying up the defense.

-And she scores! -[bell dings]

You did it!

Great play!

By making a basket, the Sport-y-thoners win the game.

Donald.

Yes, those Handy Helpers...

And once again from beautiful Mickey Park,

we bring you the next event, Volley Bop!

Let's go down to Donald on the court.

Thank you, Pete... [grunts]

What the duckster wanted to say is that in Volley Bop,

Mickey, Pluto, Daisy and Pluto from Pluto play as one team.

To win, they have to bop the ball over the net

one, two, three, four, five times in a row.

And to make it interestin', they cannot use their hands.

The players are warmin' up.

Mickey likes to use an elbow bop.

Pluto's nose knows how to bop.

Daisy uses both her arms to do a forearm bop.

Whoa, here's a twist!

Pluto from Pluto has a style all his own-o.

And look how fast he is!

Okey-dokey, now. It's boppin' time!

[inhales] [still no sound]

[bell dings]

[Pete] That's one time over the net.

Whoa, Nelly! Pluto from Pluto's playing both sides of the net.

-[bell dings] -[Pete] And that's two times

over the net.

Hey! That was my turn!

The space doggy did it again.

-[bell dings] -[Pete] And that's three times over.

I got it!

[Pete] Four!

This is mine for sure.

[buzzer sounds]

Now hold on there, space pooch!

You can't play the whole game by yourself.

[beeping]

-We want to play, too. -Yeah-yeah-yeah.

[beeping]

That's right, Pluto from Pluto.

Team players don't try to do everything all by themselves.

They give their teammates a chance to play.

Yup, that way everyone gets a turn.

[beeping]

So let's play some more Volley Bop.

And this time,

when the Volley Bop ball goes over the net,

count along with us.

Here you go!

-[Daisy] Go-go-go! -[bell dings]

[Pete] That's one.

[laughs] Back at you!

[Pete] Two.

I love playing Volley Bop!

-[Pete] Three. -Whoa.

[Pete] Four. So close!

Oops! Oh, no!

[Pete] Aw, stinky sneakers!

Wait a minute!

The doggy done did it!

Five! What a bop! The team wins the game!

Oh, goody-good bopping!

-Way to go! -[barks]

[beeping]

[Pete] And here we are at the Clubhouse Miniature Golf Course.

But we're not here for golfing, no-siree-bob.

This is the starting point for the next Sport-y-thon event,

the Rockin' Roundabout Relay.

Goof, are you there?

No, I'm down here, Pete.

Well, we cleared that up.

Tell the fans at home all about the Rockin' Roundabout Relay.

Why, I'd be glad to.

It's a big ol' race that goes all around Mickey Park.

And there are, uh, one,

two, three parts to it.

I'm doing the first part, the runnin' part.

Then I do the swimming part.

[bell dinging]

And I finish the race on a bicycle.

[honks horn]

Say, Goofy, what is this?

Why, that there is an hourglass.

We need it 'cause the Rockin' Roundabout Relay

is a race against time.

We have to finish all three parts of the race

before the sand runs through it.

Say, shouldn't there be sand in it?

[muffled] I don't think an hourglass will work without sand.

Well then, it's a good thing we're on a golf course.

I bet there's a sand trap somewhere around here.

There's one! I can tell 'cause it's chock-full of sand.

[Mickey] And golf balls.

Uh-oh. An hourglass will never work

with sand that's full of golf balls.

We gotta get 'em out.

And I know how.

With a Mouseketool!

Everybody say,

[sing-song] "Oh, Toodles!"

Here's Toodles!

[bell dinging]

[Mickey] We have a soccer ball, a tennis racket,

and the Mystery Mouseketool.

Which Mouseketool can help us separate the golf balls from the sand?

[Martian Mickey] Maybe we can use the tennis racket.

We can pour the sand through the strings of the racket.

[Goofy] Oh, I get it.

The golf balls are too big to go through the strings,

but the tiny grains of sand will go through.

[Mickey] Then let's pick the tennis racket.

We got ears. Say, "Cheers."

[bell dinging]

[Mickey] There! Now we have to pour the sand through the strings.

[Martian Mickey] It's working! The golf balls can't get through.

A-hyuck. My hat's bigger than it looks.

Great!

The sand's runnin' down just like it's supposed to.

Well, you'd better get a move on, Mickey!

Accordin' to the rules, the Rockin' Roundabout Relay

has to be finished before all the sand runs to the bottom of the hourglass.

Gosh! Pete's right.

Come on, Mickey! I gotta get you started!

Okay! On your mark, get set... Go!

Mickey! Here's some water!

Thanks, Minnie!

[Minnie] Watch out!

Huh?

Whoa!

Wow! That was a surprise.

[Pete] This is not good, sports fans.

Mickey's not runnin', but the sand in the hourglass is,

which means there is not a lot of time left to win this event!

Mickey? Are you okay?

I'm okay.

Let's get a Mouseketool to help get him down.

Everybody say,

[bell dinging]

Racing to the rescue!

[Minnie] We have a soccer ball and the Mystery Mouseketool.

Do you think a soccer ball can help Mickey get down?

No? We'd better pick the Mystery Mouseketool.

Everybody say, "Mystery Mouseketool!"

[Minnie and Mickey] Mystery Mouseketool!

[Minnie] And today's Mystery Mouseketool is

a giant catcher's mitt.

Why, that's just what we need.

We got ears. Say, "Cheers."

What do you know? I always did like to play catch.

Go, Mickey go!

[Pete] Got to hand it to the little guy.

He's almost made up for lost time.

What a mouse!

Come on, Mickey! You're doing great!

[Pete] Now watch closely, fans.

Before Daisy can start, Mickey has to tag her.

[panting] Your turn!

[Pete] There goes Daisy for a dunk and a swim

all the way across Star Lake.

And there's Martian Minnie, motorin' along to cheer Daisy on.

Uh-oh, Daisy.

You're swimming slower than a Neptunian Lungfish.

Let me help you keep up the pace with a little pep song.

[Pete] Well, that was an amazing swim,

but there's not much time left for Martian Mickey to finish the race.

[bell dings]

[grunting]

-[horn honking] -[pants]

[Goofy] Hey, Martian Mickey!

[tires screech]

Are you okay? You look a little green.

[panting] I'm not used to pedaling a bicycle.

On Mars, we use high-tech gizmos to do all the hard work.

But you've only got a little way to go.

[panting] Oh, but I don't think I can go any farther.

Well, when I get tuckered out, I say to myself,

"Self, good sports don't give up!"

Gosh, they don't?

"Nope, they don't. They always try their best."

There you have it. We both agree. You have to keep trying.

Well, I think I can try just a little bit more.

The blimp's leakin' and goin' all zig-zaggy!

We need to plug the hole in the blimp.

What we need is a Mouseketool.

[Mickey] All that's left is the soccer ball.

And that's what we can use to plug up the leak.

We picked all our Mouseketools.

Say, "Super cheers!"

How do we get the soccer ball all the way up to the blimp

to plug the hole?

I can shoot it like a basketball,

just like I did in Handy-Hoops.

Good idea!

-[air hissing] -[both yelling]

[grunts]

[Martian Mickey] What a shot!

You stopped the leak!

And saved the day!

Hot tamales! We made it! Whew! Whoa!

Well, the Sport-y-thoners really came through and saved our hides.

[tearfully] Oh, you know, it... It kind of gets me right here.

How about you, Donald?

Well, what I'd like to say...

And now for the Sport-y-thony Closing Ceremony!

[clears throat]

Ladies and gentlemen,

it is now time to present the victorious athletes

of the Sport-y-thon

with their much deserved Golden Mickey Medals.
