Xuanji! Xuanji!

Not good!

Someone has entered the forbidden area!

Xuanji!

Who are you?

Xuanji!

Little...Little Yinhua!

My...mask!

Little Stutterer don’t go, want to die?

Master, the barrier is sealed.

Senior Hengyang.

-You’re back? -Sect Leader.

When I got back just now,

I saw a disturbance at the barrier.

I got Hao Chen to seal it for the time being.

I don’t have much time to speak,

we have to hurry back to the Xuyang Peak,

to initialize a formation and stabilize it.

Follow me.

Yes.

Xuanji!

You were truly too bold!

If Uncle Hengyang and Senior Hao Chen did not come in time

would you be alive?

Speak..how did you get in.

I...

Father...

What Father?

I am questioning you as the Shaoyang’s Sect Leader!

I...

Sect Leader...

I really don’t know.

Perhaps that stinky barrier was a little fragile,

so we accidentally got in.

Such a coincidence?

I’m not lying.

I will bear the mistakes I made.

You may beat and scold me.

Don’t blame Little Stutterer!

Beat you?

Is there any use in beating you?

How many times have I beaten you since you were little?

But there’s no use!

You don’t know what is pain, what is shame!

The Shaoyang secret realm is a forbidden area

not only do you not practice your techniques, you hide there

and brought an outsider in too.

You completely disregard the rules of the Shaoyang Sect right?

You lack the understanding from the 6 senses that’s why we tolerate you.

I never expected that our tolerance turned you into this state.

I will not spoil you again!

The Shaoyang secret realm is an important area of our sect.

If you enter without permission you must bear the consequence!

Starting from today, go and reflect on your actions in Mingxia Cave!

Come back when you know what your responsibilities are!

Mingxia Cave?

Father!

Only the disciples who commit a serious crime go to Mingxia Cave.

It’s cold and damp as dark as hell there.

She can’t go there!

Master.

Please take back that punishment.

Junior Sister is still young, I fear she cannot bear that punishment.

I hope you can show her some leniency.

Just like the country has laws, a family has doctrines.

Just because she is my daughter I can’t pardon her!

Father!

Shut up!

Sect Leader Chu...

-Warrior Yu. -This matter...

I will report to your elders that you entered

my sect’s secret realm without permission.

I am handling the family matter of the Shaoyang Sect.

As an outsider do not interrupt.

Aunt Yinghong!

Linglong according to the rules of the Shaoyang Sect,

anyone who enters the forbidden area must be confined to Mingxia Cave.

No exceptions.

Master.

The Deputy Chief of the Lize Palace is here.

Let him in.

Yes.

Sect Leader Chu...

I just got here,

why did you call me so urgently here?

Everyone is on their knees....

Where’s your mask?

This disciple...lost it.

Lost it?

How dare you say you lost it!

Deputy Chief.

Although the Hairpin Tournament is held at Mount Shaoyang

but the entirety of my mountain is not open for entry.

Please control your disciple.

Apart from Shouyang Peak, you cannot enter other areas lightly.

Sect Leader Chu, it is the fault of the Lize Palace.

Yu Sifeng.

Sect Leader Chu.

I...should not have entered the secret realm,

but I lost...my mask in the secret realm.

Please...let me enter it again...

Impossible.

This rebellious disciple entered the secret realm of the Shaoyang Sect?

He does not know his place.

I wonder...what is inside that secret realm,

for my disciple to be injured and for you to punish your daughters

flying into such a fit of fury.

The Lize Palace has areas forbidden for entry.

Deputy Chief, I never...

enquire what is in the secret realms of the Lize Palace.

Of course,

all sects have their own secrets that you cannot inform others.

That cannot be revealed.

Then I’ll take him back.

I’ll definitely punish him.

Sect Leader since the establishment of the Shaoyang Sect,

the Qingyang Peak assists the Xuyang Peak in the protection of the secret realm

through astrology and detection of strange occurrences.

Right now,

Senior Hengyang has initialized a formation in Xuyang Peak to stabilize the secret realm.

But there is something that I have to inform you about the secret realm.

Protecting the secret realm is the priority of the Shaoyang Sect.

Just tell me.

I am still worried about the fact Xuanji was able to enter the secret realm.

when the messenger from the Heavens came to secure the barrier they told us

that the barrier will weaken more and more over these 25 years.

Perhaps Xuanji accidentally found a flaw in the realm,

that was why she was able to enter.

Apart from that,

I cannot find another reason for it.

I hope that is the case.

Do you remember the prediction of the previous sect leader?

The one with no feelings or heart will initialize the Crystal Lamp.

In these 16 years, Xuanji has never shed a tear.

And has never been touched by anything.

Besides she is able to enter the realm successfully,

could she be the initiator of the lamp?

No.

Impossible.

I hope I am wrong too.

But we cannot make a single error over the secret realm.

If Xuanji is the one with no heart,

she is a threat to Shaoyang!

What you mean is...

before we find out the truth,

I think...why don’t we imprison her in Mingxia Cave?

No!

Mingxia Cave.

Xuanji! Xuanji!

Linglong! Linglong!

-Xuanji I have something to tell you! -I have something to tell you too!

Listen to me first!

I just heard Father and Uncle Luyang say

you are heartless, have no feelings, accidentally entered the secret realm

so you must be imprisoned in the Mingxia Cave forever!

Is it scary?

Of course!

The ones imprisoned there are those who break the rules,

those who are evil or had a Qi deviation.

It’s cold, stinky and dark there!

I heard you can hear the cries of the disciples punished

every night, it’s very scary!

It’s fine! I’m not afraid!

Do you know what’s eternity?

It means you can never come out!

You’ll be in there for eternity! Are you willing?

Then what to do?

Then cry!

if Father sees you cry, then he’ll know you’re not a heartless, unfeeling person

and won’t lock you up!

I...I don’t know how to cry.

The threat is upon us how can you not cry?

Then think about how I snatched your cloth toy in the past,

the one you like the most!

It’s fine! If you like it take it!

Then think about the fact you’ll never be able to see me or Father!

Then...think about Mother.

Think about how Mother used to hug us and feed us breakfast.

Every time I remember this

both of my eyes will start tearing.

Don’t you feel the same?

What to do?

I know what to do!

What’s your idea?

Let’s go.

Xuanji!

Xuanji!

-Don’t go! -Linglong!

Aunt Hong let me see Xuanji off.

I can’t bear to part with her!

You have to take good care of yourself!

Let’s hug.

What is this?

It’s chili powder!

Don’t say anything. Let’s go!

Father!

Father! Xuanji...she has reflected on her actions!

She knows she’s wrong! She...feels very wrong.

Look! Her eyes are swollen with tears!

Is that true?

Xuanji!

-It’s true. -Don’t cry.

Don’t cry, Father will be worried about you.

What’s wrong with your eyes?

Let me see.

This is absurd! Take her away!

No!

Xuanji!

Linglong!

Father!

Let me out! Let me out!

Let me out! Let me out!

Let me out! Let me out!

Let me out! Let me out!

Let me out! Let me out!

The safety of the entire Lize Palace rests on the masks of the disciples.

It is not your own matter!

You treat it like part of your body!

You cannot remove it!

Let alone lose it!

Ruo Yu.

Do you feel sympathy for a disciple who broke the rules of the Lize Palace?

Continue the beating!

Yu Sifeng.

Not only did you lose your mask,

you couldn’t even find it!

What is your punishment?

Bear the 13 torture sessions!

Beat him as hard as you can!

What do you need to say Yu Sifeng?

I will never break the rules of the palace.

I am willing to accept punishment.

To prove my loyalty to the Lize Palace!

The Chief trusted you so much...

he even wanted to pass the golden feather seal to you.

Look at you.

Just a visit to the outer world and we had to give you the 13 torture sessions.

You have hurt the Chief’s trust in you.

What are you doing?

Take him back to Lize Palace for punishment.

Yu Sifeng has registered as a participant of the Hairpin Tournament.

He’s handed his name card in.

And he’s been selected on a mission.

If we take him back to the Lize Palace,

then...regarding the Hairpin Tournament...

I forgot about that.

The Hairpin Tournament is an important event of the 5 sects.

if he does not attend

then it is like shunning the other 4 sects.

Elder Luo, what do you think we should do?

Let him remain for now.

The Chief will arrive at Shaoyang before the tournament.

I think we should inform the Chief of this matter.

Let’s punish him after the tournament,

he will not be able to escape the punishment he deserves.

Your punishment has been delayed.

If I were you,

I would try and see if I can recover my mask before the Chief gets here.

At least there may be a chance your sentence will be lightened.

Sifeng, this ointment is colorless and odorless,

no one will know even if you applied it.

I heard many disciples committed suicide in order

to escape the pain.

Have you thought of a solution as to how you can escape that harsh punishment?

You’re already in this state,

you can only achieve more feats in order to redeem yourself.

So that Chief can show you some mercy.

I heard for the "flower" to be picked in the flower picking mission is a Gu eagle.

It’s ferocious.

But if you can catch it, it’ll be a great feat.

It’s finally ended.

So tired.

I went in here a while ago.

There is no flaw in this barrier.

Do I have to find Chu Xuanji?

Danping you must be blaming me now?

You asked me to take care of our daughters but now...

Xuanji has caused so much trouble,

what should I do?

What should I do?

Father!

Why don’t you put me in Mingxia Cave too?

You don’t worry about Xuanji but I do!

Master please pardon junior sister.

Master! Please pardon Junior Sister Xuanji!

Sect Leader!

Sect Leader.

The stone to the secret realm has activity again.

Take a look!

Father!

Do not bring this matter up again.

Who is there?

How dare you try and enter the secret realm of Shaoyang!

Disciple Hao Chen greets Sect Leader, Aunt Yinghong, Uncle Heyang.

We briefly met before so I was unable to greet you properly.

Please forgive my rudeness.

Rise.

You and your master were there to stabilize the barrier,

this courtesy is not necessary.

When Senior Hengyang took you as his disciple 10 years ago,

you knew nothing about cultivating.

I never expected after being in sabbatical retreat

your cultivation would become so high.

When I saw how you sealed the barrier,

I can tell that you have reached the 10th level of the Shaoyang Yangque technique.

And you have some knowledge in the Xuyang’s Mantra of Unfeeling.

I am not very talented, so I just comprehended the Mantra of Unfeeling

before I was allowed to return.

No need for the modesty.

You’re still so young yet you have reached such a high stage in your cultivation.

As expected of my Senior Hengyang’s favorite disciple.

Senior Hengyang is still at the Xuyang Peak right?

The heart of the formation protecting the realm is at Xuyang Peak.

Master has to go in retreat for a few days to stabilize the barrier to the realm.

Right now the Luohou and Jidu stars are approaching closer and the barrier to the realm is a little fragile.

So Master instructed me to come to Shouyang Peak check its condition.

To secure the barrier and reduce the threat.

That has always been the reason for the establishment of Shaoyang.

Sect Leader, where is the junior who accidentally passed through the barrier?

I’ve confined her in Mingxia Cave.

My daughter has always slacked on her training

and has little ability.

It cannot be her who lifted the barrier.

I believe

there was a flaw in the barrier

and she accidentally entered it.

Hao Chen please investigate this for me.

Yes.

Looks like I can’t go up there.

I can’t ask Xuanji about the secret realm.

What’s the use of running here at night?

Without Aunt Hong’s approval,

climbing the Xiaoyang Peak is even harder than flying to the sky.

You can’t enter Mingxia Cave.

Can’t I come take a look?

Inside the Mingxia Cave is dark and scary

Xuanji doesn’t have any cultivation.

I wonder if she can survive in there?

If Xuanji can’t learn how to cry,

then she can’t prove that she’s that heartless unfeeling person.

She won’t be able to come out.

Let’s think of another way.

But...

Let’s go.

So Chu Xuanji can only come down if she cries?

Let me out!

Let me out!

Let me out!

Let me out!

Let me out!

So noisy!

Little Stutterer...

I lifted his mask, will he suffer like this too?

Let me out!

Let me out!

The stars Luohuo and Jidu suddenly got a little closer.

Did you see it?

We did.

Perhaps it shows that the 2 parts of the primordial spirit of the Mosha Star

is getting closer to the stellar spirit.

However....Sect Leader do not worry.

Our men have infiltrated the Hairpin Tournament.

We will not let you down.

Also, according to the report our people at Mount Lutai sent,

they have ordered the demonic dog to capture that merman

who knows how to get the weapon Juntian Cehai.

Di Lang is interrogating him.

Very good!

Tell Di Lang

to use whatever method he can to pry open his mouth!

Understood.

Xuanji!

Xuanji?

Xuanji how are you?

How comes you’re shaking so much?

6th Senior Brother, I-I’m not cold at all.

My body is just shaking itself.

Oh yes 6th Senior Brother, I-I just don’t want to stay...

here alone anymore.

Say...will Father lock me up here forever?

I...

I’m always...

Always embarrassingly Father

and causing trouble for Shaoyang.

Will he...will he truly abandon me?

Xuanji don’t say nonsense.

Master is the Sect Leader and is in a difficult position.

But he is worried about you.

I was only able to come in because Master told me to deliver some food to you.

He is thinking about you!

Also Linglong and I are anxious about you.

We are thinking of how you can leave this place.

You can’t give up first.

Will there be a way?

As for how...we have to think carefully.

But what’s important now, is to eat our fill first.

Come, you have to eat this.

If your health fails you then you won’t be able to endure this.

Linglong personally made this congee.

She said Master refused to let her come and see you.,

so she has to make you something so you can feel her feelings.

Here.

Linglong made it personally?

Of course I have to eat it!

What’s wrong? Too hot?

6th Senior Brother, I...

I can taste something now!

What did you say?

But...why is this congee is disgusting?

How did you manage to eat everything she makes for you?

If I don’t finish everything she makes she’ll be sad.

You can taste it?

6th Senior Brother, there is so much food there,

do they all taste differently?

Yes! Come taste it.

This is salty.

Salty?

This one is good.

Try this one.

This one is sweet.

It’s a little sour.

So delicious!

This is spicy.

-Some try it. -Spicy?

This one is so delicious!

Slow down, don’t let the spice overwhelm you!

Xuanji.

What’s going on you...

Have you regained your other 5 senses?

Can you cry?

If you can then Master can let you out.

-Cry? -Try it.

Are there any tears?

Xuanji regained her sense of taste?

Then has she regained her other 5 senses?

Can she cry? Do tears flow out of her eyes?

That’s what’s important right?

Only her sense of taste.

Even she doesn’t know how she regained it.

I asked her for ages. Perhaps it’s related to the secret realm.

Perhaps? It’s because you weren’t able to ask her properly.

Perhaps...

Eldest Miss, if you don’t trust me then go to Xiaoyang Peak and ask her yourself!

If I could go up there would I need to ask you?

So frustrating!

Who does this demon manual belong to?

Demon manual?

It even has a bookmark.

The Gu eagle is fierce, its horns very sharp.

You can use it to make an incense.

When one smells it, they will cry a river,

the incense is called the incense of flowing tears.

Who put this here?

Must be a senior or junior who wants to help Xuanji!

Incense of flowing tears? If Xuanji has that she can be saved!

Indeed.

However...where can we find the Gu eagle?

[The flower to pick at this tournament is the Gu eagle]

It says here that the thing to be picked in the flower picking mission is the Gu eagle.

Great!

Father is in Shouyang Hall to draw out the participants for that mission now!

Let’s go now!

Go now?

The security must be tight, people will stop us.

Can you get in?

Didn’t you say your hypnosis spell has improved a lot?

We will go in with that!

Little girl you’re so used to ordering me around.

Let’s go!

Everyone as you know

the Hairpin Tournament is a chance where the disciples of each sect to spar and challenge each other

to select the most talented among you.

Hence, those who are at least 16 years of age and have not participated before

can show us your skill at the tournament.

However, as a sect of cultivators,

the most important doctrine we must follow is

to get rid of the demons and devils.

To ensure peace in the world.

You must never forget that.

You can spar with each other and the victor

must fight with the demons and get rid of them

in order to pick that peony on that captured creature’s body.

Our mission is to capture the final demon in the tournament and bring it here.

That mission is more dangerous than a fight among yourselves on the stage.

Hence, we will do as we did in the past,

it will be decided through a draw.

I have placed the name slips into this wooden box.

This year, Fuyu Island’s Chief Dongfang will draw the names out.

Brother Dongfang, this way.

The demon this year is the demon who is causing trouble at Mount Lutai.

There have been several dozen causalities already by it.

The witnesses say that when the demon spreads, its wings is at least 5 feet in width.

Its cry is like a child’s cry,

hides in the water to eat people.

Hence, it’s clear that this demon is the legendary ancient beast that has disappeared for some time.

The Gu eagle.

It’s the Gu eagle!

Looks like someone is helping us.

As long as we get the Gu eagle horn and make the incense of flowing tears

Xuanji can...

She doesn’t need to be locked in the Mingxia Cave!

What rat is eavesdropping there? Come out!

Hurry and come out!

Master.

Why is it you two?

Aunt...

They are just two mischievous children.

Elder Lingshi you don’t need to be that upset right?

Those children did not know what was going on. Excuse us.

The 2 of you can go.

Turns out it’s a misunderstanding.

But everyone who comes to the drawing ceremony must put their name forward to be drawn,

otherwise...it will go against the rules right?

You...

Father! I want to take part!

I want to catch the Gu eagle!

I’ve been cultivating for over ten years!

Let me try it! I want to go!

Good!

As they say every son of the tiger is as brave as he is!

I do admire your courage Miss Chu.

-You... -The Shaoyang Sect cultivates to get rid of the dens.

We will never shy from it!

Master I want to participate too!

Looks like there are capable people in the younger generation of the Shaoyang Sect too.

Sect Leader Chu what are you worried about?

Fine.

As that is the case, add their names to it.

Master!

Let me do it!

[Chu Xuanji]

Then we begin the draw now.

Let me see who the first participant is.

Looks like it’s the Chief of the Fuyu Island, Dongfang Qingqi.

Looks like I am the first one.

Please excuse me.

Let’s see the person.

Shaoyang Sect, Elder of the Xiaoyang Peak,

Chu Yinghong.

Thank you. Excuse me for this.

The 3rd draw...

The disciple of the Jingui Hall of the Lize Palace,

Yu Sifeng.

It’s Yu Sifeng, he’s so handsome.

You girl.

From his looks, he seems to be around the same age as Xuanji.

He just qualified to participate in the tournament, yet he was picked to take part in the flower picking mission.

He does seem quite powerful.

Let’s look at the draw.

Disciple from Shouyang Peak of Shaoyang Sect

Zhong Minyan.

I was unfilial, managed to snatch a place,

please forgive me elders.

Let’s take a look at the 5th and 6th draw.

Shaoyang’s Sect Leader, Chu Lei.

Disciple from the Xuyang Peak of Shaoyang Sect

Hao Chen.

My father?

It’s fine now that Sect Leader and Hao Chen is around.

Otherwise I fear I cannot protect Minyan by myself.

I think this time the Shaoyang Sect will cover this flower picking mission.

Let’s see who is the final draw.

It’s from the younger generation.

Disciple from the Shouyang Peak of Shaoyang Sect, Chu...

Chu Xuanji!

Master, I don’t know what happened.

My mind went blank, my hand shook

and I ended up writing Xuanji instead of Linglong.

Master.

Just punish and beat me.

But Father...as it’s come to this,

all the other sects are watching us.

We can’t embarrass ourselves by refusing.

I know what the two of you are up to.

So what if you can take her out of Mingxia Cave for a moment?

Do you think you can change her?

If we let my sister see more of the world,

perhaps she can experience mere feelings

for example joy or sorrow?

Right?

Uncle.

The secret realm is still stable right now.

It is fine now.

Junior Sister Xuanji is one of the participants of the flower picking mission.

She must attend.

Why don’t you let her out?

If she is still heartless and unfeeling afterwards,

let’s put her back in Mingxia Cave?

Right, right.

Senior Brother is right Master.

Fine, as your Senior Hao Chen put it like that,

let’s do that.

So hungry!

Why isn’t 6th Senior Brother here yet?

Xuanji!

Xuanji!

Xuanji!

Linglong!

Xuanji!

-Linglong! -Xuanji!

-It is so cold here. How did you manage to survive? -Linglong!

Hurry and let me see.

I’m fine! I don’t feel cold at all!

Why are you covered in injuries?

Come, I’m taking you out!

Wait Linglong! Can I leave now?

Are you cold?

Xuanji you are a participant of the flower picking mission.

Flower picking mission?

But I’ve never seen a demon,

how can I fight them?

Foolish girl, don’t need you to fight the demon,

This is just a plan to help you escape this place.

Let’s go ok?

What do we do in the future?

I don’t want to return again.

You won’t return.

Let’s see what we can do, let’s leave this ghastly place first ok?

Sister when we leave can you let me eat lots of delicious food?

Eat as much as you can.

Let’s go.

-Let’s go. Let’s go. -Go.

Sifeng,

there are reasons why Lize Palace has the rule of forbidding its disciples

from removing their masks outside the sect.

First to prevent outsiders building relationships with people in the palace.

Secondly,

to ensure you can focus on your initial goals.

Do not sink into the distracting thoughts of mortal love.

Since you’ve lost your mask,

do not lose your heart in the outside world,

and commit more mistakes.

I understand.

Chu Xuanji!

Chu Xuanji!

You really are here.

Little Stutterer it’s you?

How comes you lost your stutter?

I’m very clever.

Oh yes I’ve been worried about you for the past 2 days.

They said that it’s forbidden to remove the mask of the Lize Palace.

I removed your mask,

is it alright?

None of your business.

But your Lize Palace is so strange,

why does everyone like to hide their faces behind a mask?

Little Stutterer you have a mole of a tear here.

Do you like to cry a lot?

I have never cried.

Chu Xuanji listen up, I need to get my mask back.

Take me into the secret realm again.

E-Enter the secret realm again?

No, no, no. I can agree to anything else,

but that is impossible.

Last time my father confined me to the Mingxia Cave look at how badly I starved!

I’m not going!

I can agree to all your terms as long as you name it.

No!

Then don’t blame me!

Put me down! I am not going in there!

Let me go! I refuse to enter the secret realm again!

I don’t want to enter Mingxia Cave again!

Hurry and open it!

Let me tell you if I’m not willing I can’t open it!

So what you mean is you can only open it if you’re willing to do so?

So let me tell you, don’t force me.

I won’t open it for you.

If my father finds out he’ll strip my skin off and whip my tendons and confine me in Mingxia Cave forever!

Linglong and 6th Senior Brother

don’t need the Gu eagle horn to make the incense of flowing rivers.

You think you can get the Gu eagle horn?

In your dreams!

We’re not as powerful as you, but we can try it.

How about this?

If I help you get the Gu eagle horn in exchange,

can you let me in once again?

R-Really?

Also,

I will not let your father discover you entered the secret realm.

What do you think?

It’s settled then!

You!

Don’t like it?

I’ll clean it!

Stay away from me!

Yu Sifeng we meet again.

Why is your face as cold as the stone on Mingxia Cave?

We don’t know each other that well.

Little Stutterer?

He hasn’t stuttered for some time.

6th Senior Brother.

In a bit can you take me on your sword?

Xuanji my stomach suddenly hurts.

I want to visit the restroom.

You go first, tell Master that I’ll be back in a moment.

I...

Little Stutterer,

can you take me on your sword?

Father and the rest fly too quickly,

if I follow them I’ll fall and they’ll scold me.

No! I fly quickly too. And men and women should keep a distance.

Xuanji.

Father!

Where’s Minyan?

6th Senior Brother said he has a stomachache so he went to the restroom.

This child.

Follow me on your sword.

I...

Sect Leader why don’t I take her with me?

Xuanji don’t worry, I will fly slowly.

It’s settled then.

Xiao Liuzi, what took you so long!

I’ve been waiting so long...

I secretly took you down the mountain, we can’t let Master know.

Don’t worry.

Is it fun?

I’m too stupid.

I haven’t been able to learn how to fly a sword even now.

Otherwise I can fly by myself.

Senior Hao Chen can fly faster, I’m not afraid.

Sure. Brace yourself.
