Let's go, Hyeong-nim.

He was your brother-in-law?

An insect happened to bother me, so I stepped on it.

Out of my way.

That is enough. Back off now.

Are you serious, damn it? If someone is of a lower class, do they look like insects to you, too?

I told you to back off!

He is my brother.

You're right.

We are mortal enemies after all, just as you said.

One of us will have to die

for this sickening ill-fate between us to finally end.

Step back, both of you. Promptly!

If you act this way, I have no choice but to arrest all of you.

Please go first.

Let us go.

- Promptly settle everything. - Yes, Sir.

Episode 14

Ba Wu. What should we do?

I told you to behave carefully. What shameful conduct is this?

Father, this man was but an insect worthy of death.

I am not blaming you for killing some lowly churl!

I am blaming your imprudence in acting without thinking of the consequences!

Are you unaware this is a mistake you must never make, as the eldest son who is to succeed me?

What do you intend to do now?

You have laid your hand on Kim Dae Seok's household.

Isn't it obvious he will come against you with poisonous resentment in his heart?

Have you forgotten what this rascal knows about me, about our family?

The secret letter! I was wrong! Please forgive me!

Because of that insect, I must have momentarily lost myself!

If you were to catch an insect,

you should have first verified if it was poisonous!

And you associate yourself with him even in such a situation,

and you defy your father. Have you resolved to jeopardize the family?

Answer me.

Will you follow your father's orders and kill him, thus protecting your family?

Or will you protect this grand conscience of yours to the end?

I do not even wish to see you. Get out this instant!

Yes.

We are mortal enemies after all, just as you said.

One of us will have to die

for this sickening, ill-fated relationship to finally end.

Yeon Ok!

- Yeon Ok! Yeon Ok, calm down. - Yeon Ok.

- Yeon Ok! - Let go of me!

- Yeon Ok! - I have to go see Orabeoni Chil Seong.

Orabeoni Chil Seong! Orabeoni Chil Seong!

- Mother. Mother, what should I do? - It is all right, it is all right.

What should I do, Orabeoni?

- Orabeoni Chil Seong... - Mother.

Yes. Let us go inside.

She is so pitiful, I cannot watch.

I hope these scoundrels get struck by lightning.

That they get spattered by fecal water and die.

It is my fault. I should have immediately dragged him out when I saw him at the fabric store.

You are not the one who killed your brother-in-law.

The Left State Councillor's eldest son did.

And what enabled him to stay unscathed after committing murder, is the Left State Councillor's disgusting power.

No. I am to blame for assigning this task to him.

No, you are not. If someone has to pay for this crime, it is them.

Do you think I do not want to make them pay?

If I could do it right now, I would.

Are you worried for me and the rest of your family?

Have you still not understood, after seeing their behavior to this day?

They do not see us as human beings in any case.

No matter what we do, they intend to kill us.

My apologies, Father.

Since this happened by my fault, I will see the end of it.

How?

I will take this opportunity to kill Kim Dae Seok.

Are you not sober yet?

However, if we do not kill him, at any time he might—

Killing him is nothing.

I just have to send an assassin this moment and it will be taken care of.

The problem is His Majesty.

Do you feel shortness of breath or dizziness?

Rather than that, my heart feels constricted and my headache has worsened.

The sole remedy that stopped my headaches was the one you had given me.

There is little left, bring me some more.

Your Majesty, that medicine—

Say no more. Make haste and bring me the medicine!

Yes, Your Majesty.

What brings you to the apothecary, Excellency?

Is His Majesty still taking that medicine to this day?

The quantity has already increased twofold since the last time.

When do you think we should see an effect?

It will not take long.

You are saying your future brother-in-law has died?

Yes, Your Majesty.

Do you intend to stay put?

I do not.

I see.

I will be waiting. Bring me good tidings.

Did you find out what I requested?

I spread my men everywhere and collected all sorts of rumors.

But the Left State Councillor is unexpectedly clean, that man.

I do not know what illicit scheme he is conducting, but I cannot find anything.

What about the other one?

The son of the Minister of Justice is a debauchee who is crazy about women's charms.

He is a regular in our establishment.

He was recently bragging about how he abducted the woman of a commoner's house in front of her husband,

telling the story to the people who were with him.

- The husband just watched? - He wrote a formal complaint to the magistrate.

But would anyone listen to what we lowly people have to say?

They are all on the same side, so they don't even pretend to listen to us.

Thank you, in any case. Where did he record that complaint?

You say they recorded a formal complaint, but the Magistracy ignored it?

- Did you find the letter of complaint? - Yes, Your Majesty.

Bring it to me.

Is it his ability that is good?

Or is it that he knows the people's circumstances best because he wanders about the roads all the time?

I suspect it is both.

The Chief Magistrate will certainly say he has never seen this letter of complaint,

and push the blame onto his deputy.

We will have to reprimand him and dismiss the minister of justice.

- Your Majesty. - What is it?

What about not dismissing the minister of justice, but conciliating with him instead?

Empowering the minister of justice

would be good to counter the left state councillor.

- Really? - That won't work, Your Majesty.

What is the reason that you want to oust the left state councillor?

Isn't it because he obstructs your great will for this country and its people?

The minister of justice shielded his minions who trampled on powerless people.

Such a man will eventually end up as another left state councillor.

I will consider that. Everyone is dismissed.

Can I see you for a moment?

Princess Hwa In is with you, isn't she?

I was already told by Deputy Administrator Kim that she is alive.

So don't try to hide it.

What do you mean?

I mean to join hands with me.

When Deputy Administrator Kim hid from the king that the princess was alive,

it made my position very awkward.

I heard you threatened Deputy Administrator Kim.

Wouldn't it be better if both you and I kept Deputy Administrator Kim alive?

If you can find a way, I would help you.

I'll think about it.

Let me give you some information which will help you decide.

There is another royal guard besides Jung Yeong that the left state councillor communicates with.

Do you understand what I mean?

Do you mean Court Lady Kim? Does Court Lady Kim want to join hands?

After what she did to you, I should decline.

But I don't know what she might do then.

Will you be able

to handle all of this, Your Highness?

Please die, Your Highness.

Please ally yourself with her.

But know that if the situation turns against her,

she will not hesitate to betray you, so never fully trust her.

- Are you certain this will be fine? - Yes.

However, is there any way to rescue Kim Ja Jeom?

That is ... I still don't know his majesty well.

I still don't know what to do.

My father doesn't trust just anyone.

It is typical for a monarch to always be skeptical and doubt everyone's word,

but this is especially true for my father.

Since the left state councilor, who had been his ally since he was crown prince, betrayed him,

except for the royal guard, Jung Yeong...

No... he won't even trust Jung Yeong completely.

The more that Court Lady Kim tries to rescue Kim Ja Jeom,

the more my father will suspect her.

If you try to kill Kim Ja Jeom, he will believe Court Lady Kim.

You, truly ... if I were the king,

the next successor to the throne would be you.

When I was a child who didn't know better, I had such a dream.

Sister-in-law.

Eonni.

Did you come here because you couldn't sleep?

Yes. I was afraid that If I keep tossing and turning, Mother will wake up.

I can't sleep either. Shall we go to my room and chat all night?

I am sorry.

I don't want to talk about anything.

Then, don't.

I also won't say a thing.

Just think you are alone in this room

and relax.

Have you made up your mind?

Yes. I will join you.

Good thinking.

But in return, I have a favor to ask.

Please help me so that her highness the royal noble consort and princess Hwa In can meet.

Do you know why there is suddenly a Sandaenol*? (Korean mask drama)

When the Ming envoy came from Uiju

I heard him say he would like to observe a Sandaenol.

And you're certain he didn't have other intentions?

To my knowledge, there isn't.

If we wait and see, we'll soon find out.

Father.

Do you know why the envoy from Ming has come?

It is because of Ming general Mao Wenlong, who is on the road to attack Donggangjin.

Why do you ask?

It's nothing.

(General Mao Wenlong set up a Ming military post in Donggangjin on Ga Island, Cheolsan in Byeongan Province)

Your highness, may I enter for a moment?

Hwa In, is that you?

Are you truly my Hwa In?

Yes, Mother.

In my foolishness, I have been greatly unfilial.

Please forgive me, Mother.

No. Not at all. It's all fine now that you are alive.

Thank you for staying alive.

I am so grateful.

Your face is so worn.

It is all because of me.

It's all right.

Now that I have seen you again, this mother does not care about any of that.

Don't say that.

You need to be strong for my sake.

Indeed.

I must, if I am to see you again.

You promise, then?

You promise me too.

After you survive unscathed,

without fail

you must return to see your mother.

Yes.

I promise.

Without fail.

I will return to see you.

If you are outside, will you enter?

Be seated.

I was told there was a complex situation.

In any case,

thank you for taking care of Hwa In.

I will never forget this.

Your words are too generous.

I didn't do anything. Please retract what you said.

In the future also, please continue to take care of the princess.

What could I do, when I don't trust anyone except you?

Until the king devises a guaranteed plan to protect her,

please keep Hwa In safe.

Yes. Although I am lacking,

I will do my best.

Thank you.

You are the only one I will trust.

Your Excellency! Your Excellency, please save me!

His Majesty has ordered the Chief Royal Secretary to have me dismissed.

Your Excellency!

Let's go to the Huijeongdang*. (Hall where the king met with officials)

Your Majesty, the Left State Councilor and the Minister of Justice are here.

I do not feel well. Tell them to go.

Your Majesty, this is Left State Councilor Yi I Cheom.

Your Majesty!

Go away!

Your Majesty! Your Majesty!

Your Majesty!

Call the royal doctor! Hurry!

Your Majesty! Your Majesty!

Just what do you people eat?

Is the noble asking what we eat and do for a living?

At Mount Geumgan in Gangwan Province ...

At Mount Geumgan ...

What is going on?

His Majesty has collapsed.

Prepare for the worst. Detain those people and close all the palace gates.

Yes!

Kim Dae Seok!

Did something happen in the King's Palace?

There's an emergency due to his majesty collapsing.

Then...

The royal guards have been ordered by my father to detain and interrogate the Sandaedogam troupe.

You shouldn't go this way. Follow me.

Let's go.

Hide here for now.

By now they will have figured out there is one actor missing.

The count is one less than the number of people who entered?

- Yes. - I'm Jeong Han Gu.

Pass.

I'm Yi Hyeong.

Pass.

You must find the scum who snuck into the Sandaedogam troupe

and slipped into the palace.

Even if you have to call out the court ladies, search every inch of the concubines' quarters.

- Jang Yun Ho. - Pass. - Yes, Your Excellency.

Did you not hear about the palace gates being sealed off?

Her ladyship Kim was on her way to a Buddhist ritual to wish his majesty a speedy recovery.

I will be discourteous for a moment.

What is going on?

Have you heard one of the members of the Sandaedogam troupe has disappeared?

So what?

I heard it was at your request

that the king summoned the troupe to the palace.

Yes. What about it?

Is it all right for me to check?

Are you saying that you will try to open the palanquin that I'm riding because you don't trust me?

Are you hiding something?

Open it.

Are you satisfied now that you've seen it yourself?

I will not forget this humiliation.

Close it.

May we go?

Let them pass.

Let's go.

I think you can come out now.

You have changed so much.

I never could've imagined you doing things like these before, but now you handle it with ease.

It's because I have realized what is more important than my dignity and reputation.

Let's go now.

Yes.

Thank you for helping us.

Aren't we on the same side now?

Please take care, Your Highness.

Please take care of my father.

Yes.

Do you meet with your mother her highness the consort?

Why is she looking so down? Did something happen in the palace?

His majesty has collapsed.

She must have a lot in her mind, so please stay by her side.

I understand.

What happened to his majesty?

There is still no improvement.

I have something to tell you.

Change the royal physician to somebody else.

What are you saying, all of a sudden?

At this time when His Majesty is in the most danger,

why should we change the person who knows about his majesty's illness the best?

I cannot trust him. Please change the royal physician.

How can I change the royal physician whom his majesty appointed himself just because I want to?

Are you not the one who instructs the doctors of the royal family?

It is not an honorary position in which I occasionally give advice.

He's a doctor who even Her Highness the queen and the crown prince trust.

There's nothing I can do about it on my own.

Anyway, just know that I cannot change the royal doctor.

I cannot leave my post for too long, so I'll be going now.

How did it go?

Where is the medicine his majesty used to take?

I confirmed with another physician and had the court food tester check it as well,

but nothing much came out of it.

Still, we can't know everything by doing that.

This may be medicine to one, yet poison to another.

Didn't his majesty take this medicine for a long time?

There is something you need to do.

Kill the royal physician.

But first...

why don't we decide after investigating further about this medicine—

What happens if something happens to his majesty during that time?

If something happens to his majesty, you and I will both die.

Don't you know what kind of person the left state councillor is?

If by any chance, the court physician has played a trick with this medicine

we absolutely cannot entrust his majesty to his hands.

Kill him, for now. I will take responsibility.

Your highness, the crown and country are in peril!

The throne must not remain empty, so please accept the request to rule temporarily.

Even her majesty the Queen has given her consent.

It is only until his majesty recovers,

so please accept this role for the time being!

The physician has died?

Yes.

It must be Jung Yeong's work. Or possibly Court Lady Kim?

I've already gotten what I wanted so it doesn't matter.

Um...

If the crown prince temporarily ascends the throne, do I also get my position back?

F-father.

Your Highness, the Ming General Mao Wenlong who is in Ka Island,

has requested via envoy for additional rations and military funds.

- Oh dear... - Again?

Incidentally, the northern barbarian general Amin has also requested via envoy...

wishes to exchange our own General Kang Hong Rip, who was captured while traveling to Ming the other day,

for Mao Wenlong.

What do you propose we do?

How could we turn over General Mao Wenlong into barbarian hands?

Obviously, we must refuse their offer.

As for Mao Wenlong's request, given the Ming's aid when we suffered from foreign invasions,

I believe we should grant his requests.

I disagree, Your Highness.

While we shouldn't hand over Mao Wenlong to the barbarians, to grant his requests

would be utter injustice.

Why do you say that?

At times like these, if we foolishly listen to Mao Wenlong's request,

we won't even have enough rice for next year's droughts.

Has the deputy officer forgotten the merciful aid we were given when we were in absolute ruins?

Surely we should pay back our debts, but if we give Mao Wenlong the rations and funds he asks for,

The barbarians will misinterpret this gesture to mean joining hands with the Ming, and invade us from Yalu River.

That means war.

This is directly opposed to his majesty's will. You mustn't oppose his will

as soon as he fainted, Your Highness!

If his majesty finds out about this later, you will certainly be held responsible for this!

This is a difficult matter to resolve now, so postpone the decision until Father recovers.

- Yes Your Highness. - Yes Your Highness.

I heard the positions for the minister of justice and the police chief were still vacant.

The state of the country is dire, so reinstate those men to their original positions for now.

The minister of justice and the left police chief were reinstated?

As soon as his majesty falls ill, they immediately take over again.

For the time being, you two will need to lie low.

Yes, my lady.

Has his majesty improved any?

All of the physicians in the royal court are doing their best. So I'm sure good news is forthcoming.

Don't worry too much.

Thank you, Father!

You'll have eyes watching you, so make sure to conduct yourself with greater discipline.

Understand?

Yes, do not worry.

What on earth is his majesty hiding

in Kim Dae Seok's home? I must find out.

Yes.

That means I need to take care of him first...

I believe Kim Dae Seok, who was recently promoted into the ranks of the royal guard and military service,

should be sent north to investigate the barbarians and Mao Wenlong,

and determine what exactly is happening over there, Your Highness.

You must not do this, Your Highness. Kim Dae Seok and Councillor Yi I Cheom

have a history of enmity since the ousting of Grand Prince Yeongchang.

There is a hidden agenda behind the left state counsillor's suggestion.

Please instead use other military officers that you have.

Your Highness,

The other officers are children of mere dignitaries, thereby lacking experience.

Such a scouting mission is not fitting for them.

However, Kim Dae Seok has spent many years hiding his identity,

He is skilled in disguises and has greater practical experiences than any other,

I believe he is most fitting for this mission. And that is why I recommended him to you.

I disagree, Your Highness.

The counsillor's words are mere pleasantries.

He intends to send Kim Dae Seok into what is basically a battlefield,

and trying to remove someone who has been troubling him.

Your Highness, the deputy officer's words are baseless.

I will send my own son with Kim Dae Seok to the north.

Your Highness!

The left state counsillor has made a heavy decision for this country!

That decision is both beautiful and admirable, so please approve his decision.

- Please approve his decision! - Please approve his decision!

Do as he says.

You must not! You must not go there!

The left state counsillor is scheming to kill you.

I know as well.

So please hear me out.

I know already what you will say.

I also know why you're trying to go, and I know why you have no choice but to leave.

Forgive me. I have no choice in the matter.

I cannot send you. If you leave, you'll die.

Anyone can see that you will not return alive. How could I possibly send you?

If it were only possible, I'd also like to stay. But you know this, don't you?

Without a good cause, it doesn't matter how much I protest.

Then find a way to escape.

If you don't have a good cause, you must make one up in order to stay.

You must not leave.

Are you going to refuse?

No.

Your aunt will have a fit if she finds out.

So I will tell her you're stationed at the palace for royal duties.

Yes.

You are to give this letter to Mao Wenlong.

If he kills Kim Dae Seok, and covers it up as if he went missing,

I promised him the rations and funds he requested.

This is the final chance I'm giving you. What will you do?

When you return...

you must return alone.

While I'm gone,

you must take care of yourself first and foremost.

Think only of yourself.

Don't worry about me, and come back safely.

I will.

You must...

return to me alive.

No matter what.

I will never die to leave you alone.

Please trust and wait for me.

What brings you here?

Court Lady Kim has ordered me to come along to protect you.

This is a voucher with which you can requisition canon carriages,

and this is the badge that will allow you to cross the border. I wish you luck.

Yes, Your Excellency.

Nobody knows what can happen there, so please be careful.

I trust you will return as my son.

Follow the man you failed to kill during the exam and kill him.

You didn't touch it again.

Why are you doing to yourself, really?

I just... don't have an appetite.

Later, when I'm hungry, I will eat it.

I understand you are doing this because you are concerned.

But still...

What is this? You finished the laundry already?

You should have waited a little. I said that I would help you.

Yeo Ju Daek?

Yeo Ju Daek!

Go and buy a chicken.

Chicken? The clucking kind?

I don't know how much oil we have.

Hey, w-wait...

I have to go buy the chicken.

Where should I put this?

Over here, over here.

Wait, what are you doing right now?

Move aside.

It's called pogye... have you heard of it?

Pogye?

Like this, with the oil ...

You put this in here.

If you stir it while it fries, it becomes a delicious pogye.

I don't know what you are talking about, but why are you making this all of a sudden?

Since she won't eat anything at all, I have to make her eat something.

- Who? Her highness? - Yes.

Ever since childhood, this pogye was a weak spot for her.

But why can't she eat anything?

Ah, geez... did you eat your common sense for lunch? Why else do you think?

It's because she's worried about her husband.

Hey that, that! The oil is boiling. Don't you have to put this in now?

You see...

If you have nothing to do, quit meddling. Just gather up some firewood.

I understand. Yes.

Make sure to take care not to burn yourself.

Ah, go quickly! Go quickly.

- Careful that you don't burn yourself. - You aren't going, you aren't going?

What kind of smell is this?

Are you crazy?

Why? Did she now say that she wants to eat chicken?

Cooking it with this expensive oil?

No, I suddenly wanted to eat it.

I'm sorry.

Is it because you lived relying on each other like siblings?

Seeing you waste our livelihood as she does. You two are like peas in a pod!

I'm sorry!

Is it enough that you are sorry?

Get out of my house immediately.

No, I...

I did wrong. I asked her because I wanted to eat it.

She is not at fault.

No! I did it because I wanted to eat it.

I'm sorry.

What is this nonsense?

You...! Does this mother-in-law seem that funny to you?

Then, take your sibling and get out!

Go out and live by yourselves.

Uh... I'm!

Mother, I did wrong!

Please forgive me.

You dare to cook chicken with that expensive oil.

Now that I look at it, you are someone who sucks up and eats his backbone.

If you haven't learned anything as a lowly commoner, you should at least know your own place.

Since you have become the daughter-in-law of a half-noble family, have you decided to live as you please?

If you spend so wastefully,

How can I entrust you with the warehouse key?

I have committed a grave sin.

Never again... I will be careful and more careful that this never happens again.

Please forgive me this one time.

I did wrong, Mother-in-law.

Your husband has gone a long way without even having a warm meal.

And he's suffering like that.

You are just sitting here frying chicken. I don't know if you are heartless or senseless.

I'm sorry.

I did this unnecessary thing.

I'm sorry.

Enough.

I know you meant well.

Isn't this a burning smell?

Oh right! The pogye!

Aigoo, what to do.... Aigoo, what should I do?

Ah, hot... so hot!

Ah, so hot! So hot!

What am I going to do about this?

What do you mean? We can just eat it.

That's nonsense.

I told you not to eat it.

I really wanted to have some pogye

Don't try too hard.

If you knew I was trying hard, then couldn't you pretend to not notice?

I am back from school!

It seems Cha Dol is here.

I got praised by the teacher again today.

Really? What do you do well today that you were praised?

Here.

The teacher asked us to define a word.

I answered just as you had taught me.

Is that so?

Yes. No one else in the class answered.

Only I did.

Good job.

Should we study this today?

Yes.

"The scholar safeguards his mind" means?

He who learns will always preserve his mind.

"Material wealth seduces the mind with folly."

They must not be overcome with desires for material things.

She knows how to read?

There's no way she received formal education... did she pick it up along the way?

No...

She sounds like someone who's read a lot.

Are you all right?

Since I'm in... a rush...!

My lady!

Why is she going in and out of the toilet all day long?

What happened?

I bumped into your mother-in-law who was hurriedly going to the bathroom.

But, why is she urinating so often?

It almost seems like a disease.

Mother-in-law, it's me.

What are they?

These are walnuts lightly cooked in warm water.

I heard that having these with warm alcohol before going to bed is good for you.

Good? For what?

Lately... It seems like you have been urinating frequently...

You are right.

You have been going to the restroom so frequently these days, Mother.

I'm good. You have it.

If mere walnuts could cure it... I would've gotten better a long time ago.

Stop being stubborn. Give it a try.

You should think of the effort she's put into it.

They are just walnuts and alcohol. They won't make you sick.

There's nothing to lose here.

This is what the royal medical office serves the king.

You heard, right? She says even the King has them.

If I were you, I would've just fallen for it and tried it.

If she doesn't have them, I will.

Please sleep well.

How did she know?

I didn't hear anything, so don't worry and eat them in peace.

Right. Cha Dol's mother can read.

- Sister-in-law can? - Yes.

She was teaching Cha Dol.

I knew it... She's no ordinary peasant.

What do you mean extraordinary? Reading a bit is not a big deal.

It's not just reading a bit.

Didn't you see her coaching me earlier?

She knows everything a lady from a noble family should know. She even knows the palace's secret remedies.

Weren't you mocking her not that long ago, saying she was good at acting like a noblewoman?

You've already let her win you over.

What... as if she hasn't half won you over too.

Am I wrong?

I guess this is alcohol after all. I'm getting drunk.

Let's sleep.

Cha Dol's aunt, you know...

She seems to be handling it better than we expected.

There's no way.

For the sake of her mother and her family, she's just enduring it.

Is that so?

I thought she was just a little bitter foal, but I guess she's mature.

That she can endure it for her family.

What's wrong? It's not turning out well?

It's been a while. I guess my skills got rusty.

Your skills are great as usual.

Wait.

Big "Dae"...

I just stitched some words in. That's all.

He will come home healthy and well.

It's late. You should go to your room.

Yes.

Don't stay up too late.

Dae Se..

Are they refugees?

Do you mean the barbarians have already crossed the Yalu River?

Have the barbarians invaded?

Mao Wenlong's men were pillaging the place and they were fleeing from them.

Mao Wenlong's men?

Yes, Sir.

But isn't Mao Wenlong stationed at Ka Island?

He has a detachment that is camped nearby.

We should try to avoid them as much as possible.

Yes.

Let's grab something to eat in this village.

Did everyone flee? Why is it empty?

It feels off.

I will go first and take a look.

Come a little closer. I will take your head off this time.

You can't take it, Sir!

Are you alright?

Help me.

Mother!

You can do this nonsense in your own country, you bloody bastards!

Where is this yakbap from?

It's from his highness the Crown Prince.

I haven't seceded the crown to him yet.

Why are you calling him Crown Prince?

Get rid of it right now!

Your Majesty..

Royal Father...

Royal Father!

Your Majesty..

Are your senses back?

Is anyone there?

His Majesty is awake. Call in the royal physician right now!

His Majesty is awake.

The minister of justice and the left police chief has been reinstated... and?

Perhaps you should call in the six ministers right away...

and cancel the reinstatements?

I can't do that. Crown Prince's authority will plummet if I do that.

Is there anything else I should be informed of?

I got rid of the royal physician.

The royal physician?

In your medicine, we found angsokgak (the skin of opium poppy fruit).

It's certain that he acted under his supervisor, Yi I Cheom's orders.

I knew angsokgak was is in.

It's used for my headache. Don't worry.

Your Majesty.

Angsokgak is a medicinal ingredient after all.

But the amount is way over what's recommended.

I shall see Yi I Cheom.

You mustn't push yourself, Your Majesty.

Tell him to visit me immediately.

- Your Majesty. - Call him in!

I see that you've done a lot behind the crown prince.

It was so urgent that there was nothing else I could do, Your Majesty.

I heard that the royal physician is dead.

Did you want to feed me yakbap as you did to my late royal father?

Even though I gave you the suggestion, it was you that served the late king that yakbap, Your Majesty.

Did you forget?

I was unaware that there was anything wrong with the yakbap.

Did you really not know that?

Didn't I just say I didn't know about that?

I don't know if the public sees it that way.

It seems like you could commit treason at any moment.

There is no way, Your Majesty. Don't get me wrong.

But since you are pressuring me,

I'm just doing my best to stay alive.

What do you want?

Give up on Kim Dae Seok.

He is the sole bloodline that survived from the Western Faction. Must you kill him too?

I'm not sure if you have already heard it, but

Word has arrived that he assaulted Mao Wenlong's men.

Mao Wenlong wants his head.

Did Mao Wenlong hurt you, Sir?

I must've appeared useful. He released me promptly.

More importantly, I've sent an urgent message to Hanyang,

Mao Wenlong is normally a stubborn one, so I don't know how the royal court will respond.

If there is one thing I'm hoping for...

Mao Wenlong is aware that his father is close to Eunuch Wei.

That guy is the only way to keep you alive. Understand?

I will try again to persuade Mo Mun Ryong, so please stay calm.

Do you understand?

Yes, Sir.

You fool.

What?

You are an idiot that doesn't know what's important.

Do you want to die?

Don't you ever think that I will help you.

Don't worry. I'm not hoping for that at all.

Please come and eat this.

Please take a break and have this.

- We will eat well. - Thanks for the food.

Who are you...?

Are you working here?

Yes, but...

W-Wait! Oh, dear.

What shall we do?

Cha Dol!

Cha Dol!

W-Well...

Who are you?

I ... am Cha Dol's mother.

Who are you?

For sure... You must come home alive.

No matter what.

Bossam - Steal the Fate Preview

I'm Cha Dol's mother.

- You are a noble? - Yes.

Does it make sense for a concubine to have a room?

Only Cha Dol's father can handle this. When would he be back?

I'll need to kick her out soon. When Ba Wu comes home, it will be a nightmare.

They say there is another young woman at the place.

Go find about her identity immediately.

What will you do with Kim Dae Seok?

Are you going to abandon him?

We need to sacrifice someone to calm down Mo Mun Ryong.

I'm going to come back alive no matter what.

Since I have something to protect. Someone that's more important than my life.
