Maid Escort

Episode 18

Zi Yuan.

Where were you?

Meeting merchants.

Is that so?

Then why did you give Sikong Mu Yun rouge?

Zi Yuan, let me explain.

I wanted her help

to lobby new merchants.

That's why I went to see her.

Is that so?

Yes, I'm not lying.

That's what happened.

She's a deeply righteous person.

Does she need a gift to help you with merchants?

Zi Yuan.

That I must explain further.

In business, before I ask for a favour,

I have to first send her a gift.

Moreover the mistress

has always fancied rouge from Cuiyun Store.

Hence, I decided to get her some

so I may then ask her for that business favour.

You never got me rouge.

But you're getting it for her instead?

You even know that

her favourite rouge is from Cuiyun Store.

You...

Do you like rouge from that shop too?

If that's the case,

you could've just told me.

I'd get you lots of them.

That won't be necessary.

I'll head there

to check out

that rouge myself.

Let me get it for you.

Don't go there.

Mind your own business.

Zi Yuan, Zi Yuan.

She's having such a temper today.

Our male lead has encountered a love crisis.

I thought Young Master

and Miss Yue would finally get to enjoy

their loving life together.

It seems there's a turn of events now.

Well, romantic comedies

always have their ups and downs.

That's why audiences are hooked to it.

Am I right?

That's true.

You two seem to be enjoying the drama.

You've misunderstood us, Young Master.

We're just concerned of you.

He's right.

Young Master Yang, where's my sister?

Where did she go?

She's going to meet Young Lady Mu Yun.

She said she wanted to talk to her.

And you let her go, Young Master?

Of course I did.

It's not like they'd end up fighting.

That could be possible.

I'll admit that I like Yang Xiao.

But you don't have to worry.

Nothing happened between us.

I know that.

And I believe you.

Aren't you afraid I'll steal him away from you?

Maybe drive a wedge between both of you?

Make him take pity of me

or play hard to get?

You should know

that we both go way back.

I know him better than you do.

If I want it,

he'll definitely fall in love with me.

But you won't do it.

I will.

Love is always selfish.

Nobody plays fair against

their love rival.

But you can't control love.

You can't manipulate and make a person

fancy or dislike another that easily.

If that were true, it would've worked out

when I tried getting Yin Ruo and him together.

If you really know Yang Xiao,

you'd know of his stubborn personality too.

If it were that easy to make him

change his mind,

how could I have failed

when I tried to set him up

with Yin Ruo?

The truth is right in front of our eyes.

It's sufficient to prove how stubborn Yang Xiao is.

Why are you my rival?

What's wrong with that?

Yang Xiao is indeed stubborn.

I initially thought that those stories were made up.

Now it seems that

your hearts are truly connected with one another.

And for that, I envy you.

You read the book too?

Of course I did. Its fame swept across the country.

At the same time,

I wanted to better understand my love rival too.

If that's the case,

let's have a fair competition.

I've always believed that

what is mine is mine.

It's also pointless

to covet something that isn't mine either.

Then take a guess.

Will I compete with you?

It seems like they're about to fight.

Go on.

I'd take her out immediately if it was me.

Zi Yuan.

I realised that the rouge Yang Xiao gave me

is more suitable for you.

I'll get it for you.

No, thank you.

Armed escorts always have to endure the elements.

So we won't need makeup.

You keep it for yourself.

The love of beauty

is part of women's nature.

You shouldn't ignore skin care

simply because of your career.

If you don't know how, let me help you.

Well then,

I'll gladly accept your offer.

You're welcome.

That's not right.

This should be the part where the two women fight.

You know nothing.

My sister is luring her

before making a direct strike

to completely end her rival.

I was expecting them to fight each other.

Instead they became friends.

This doesn't seem like Yue Zi Yuan's style.

18 Entrepreneurship Principles of Successful Carriage Services

"18 Entrepreneurship Principles of Successful"

"Carriage Services?"

"Beauty Salon at Song Mountain?"

"Seafood Distribution in Guiyue State Fishing Village?"

Let me ask you.

How did you manage to miss out

on all the successful business strategies out there

and come up with your own shabby ideas?

I... I thought it would be better to be a little innovative.

Sometimes we need to do something different.

If you had so much time on your hands,

why don't you devise a plan

to help me with escort recruitment?

Zi Yuan.

Come here.

What is it?

Your boyfriend is having a hard time in his life now.

Not a single business deal is made.

Yet as my girlfriend,

you haven't shown me any attention,

concern or affection.

Likewise, as my boyfriend,

have you ever shown me any attention, concern

or affection?

You think you're the only busy one here?

For your information, I'm busy too.

I have to think of how to recruit escorts

to expand the manpower at my agency.

If you really need someone to help you,

you can always find Mu Yun for that.

How could you?

You push your man away

to another woman?

I didn't.

I honestly think that Mu Yun

can really help you.

Yue Zi Yuan, I can't help but think that

you don't care for me at all.

I'm despaired in both my career

and my personal love life.

Back then

we were so united through life and death.

To think that we were once a loving and agreeable couple,

but never had I imagine...

Since when have you become so sentimental?

I'm busy and I don't time for this.

I'll leave now.

Goodbye.

Zi Yuan, come... come back here.

I was being so obvious already.

How could she not get my feelings?

Of course you wouldn't know what Miss Zi Yuan is thinking.

And you happen to know?

Of course.

I'm going to make sure she sees

how charming I am.

Yue Zi Yuan.

It's the middle of the night.

Why are you carrying pillows and quilt?

I'm sleeping over

at Mu Yun's room.

What for?

What's wrong with that?

She's been managing so many shops alone

and has lots of experience in trade businesses.

I have much to learn from her

in terms of managing the agency.

I'm the Second Young Master of the Yang family.

I have a lot of business experience.

Why not head over to my room

and we'll talk about it through the night?

Goodbye.

You...

I noticed how Yang Xiao is acting strange lately.

I'm starting to not understand him these days.

Men are unintelligent beings when they're in love.

Yue Zi Yuan.

Am I falling for your tricks?

Tricks?

You're still denying it?

You planned this,

didn't you?

Alright, alright.

You're smarter than I thought.

Befriending your love rival?

I guess you really are one of a kind.

That's because I trust your character.

Also,

about Yang Xiao opening the new trade route,

if you're able to help him,

then please do so.

So you're feeling sorry for him now?

If I said no, would you believe me?

Actually building this new trade route

isn't going to benefit Yang Xiao alone.

After it is open,

I bet your businesses

would prosper simultaneously.

Don't worry.

I will help out.

Actually,

there's something I've been hiding from you two.

My parents

were also killed in the new trade route incident.

What?

Back then my parents

were among the early merchants in favour of the new trade route.

They were just small-time merchants

but they ended up as victims of the massacre for no reason.

Their bodies were never found.

I vowed then

to catch the culprit.

In all these years,

I've always been looking for clues.

Isn't Hu Mei Ren the mastermind?

Now that she's taken her own life,

I guess that counts as justice for your parents?

I guess so.

The important thing now

is to open the new trade route.

By doing so,

their wishes would be fulfilled.

Things will eventually sort themselves out,

though with some effort.

It's getting late.

Get some sleep.

Why do I feel that I like Yue Zi Yuan

more than she likes me?

Those coveting another's affection stay restless

whereas those deeply loved fear nothing at all.

36 Strategies of Love, Notes of Love, Tome of Love

What are you both up to?

Shuan Zi and I have specially

selected a variety of scripts for you.

I'm not interested.

They contain ways of making my sister jealous.

Look at that.

Young master was never this motivated

even when he was taking the imperial examination.

If I were as diligent as him,

I wouldn't be an armed escort.

I'd be a teacher.

You, a teacher?

You are better off a zombie than a teacher.

Nonsense. I can even recite poems.

Show me.

A bevy of swans

singing with their heads up towards the blue sky....

36 Strategies of Love, Notes of Love, Tome of Love

I called you two to help me out,

not perform

some comic skit for me to watch.

Here, we'll each look through one.

Young Master, I've got an idea.

Zi Yuan, do you know what day it is today?

It's our 123rd day anniversary

since we met each other.

This is the surprise I prepared for you.

Do you like it?

We didn't do anything. You've misunderstood us, Mistress.

Shuan Zi and I are innocent.

Let us explain.

It's not what it looks like.

It's fine. It doesn't bother me.

Young Master Yang, why are you still here

hiding in the tea house?

Take a look and you'll know.

Girls usually

like receiving gifts.

For example, satin, silks, rouge, lotion,

accessories, perfume pouches, land deeds or carts.

Liu Tiao.

What is it?

Go get satin, silks, rouge, lotion,

accessories, perfume pouches, land deeds and carts.

Hurry up.

Got it.

However,

Yue Zi Yuan

isn't your typical kind of girl.

Where am I supposed to get all those things?

Liu Tiao.

Stay and await your orders.

Forget it.

Mistress, is there any other way?

There's one.

Saving the damsel in distress.

Are you two ready?

We're ready.

Just make it look real

but don't hurt Zi Yuan.

Don't betray me either.

Don't worry.

Little lady, out alone?

Hand over all your money.

We promise not to hurt you.

Maybe we're not vicious enough.

Probably.

-Little lady. -Little lady.

Little lady?

The truth, now.

Sister, it was Liu Tiao's idea.

Shuan Zi, you betrayed me?

You've got no guts.

Sister, it was my young master's idea.

He craves your attention.

So he came out with this.

Yang Xiao.

It failed?

That can't be.

That perfect plan just

flopped like that?

Yes.

It was a complete failure.

We underestimated Yue Zi Yuan

and overestimated those two idiots.

I have one more idea.

Yang Xiao, get out here now.

Zi Yuan, you're back.

What's wrong with your leg?

Well,

I went to negotiate a deal with Mr Sun on West Street.

The business didn't work out.

He even let his dog out to bite me.

Isn't he cruel?

It all happened so fast.

Hence, I slipped and broke my leg.

Negotiating a deal?

He let the dog out?

Yeah.

It must be very painful then?

It hurts so badly.

Why are there

two large cockroaches on your back?

Are they still there?

They're gone.

Zi Yuan, let me explain.

You slipped and fell pretty bad, didn't you?

♫ Withered lotus in the rain as dusk fades ♫

♫ Swiftlets return to their nest in the dark courtyard ♫

♫ Leaning on the fence with a bottle in hand ♫

♫ Drunk and wondering when summer will return ♫

♫ Cool breeze and bright moon are a perfect match ♫

♫ Meandering through the ages ♫

♫ Adamant not to fall in love again ♫

♫ Yet you slipped into my dreams ♫

♫ It has always been myself in these dreams ♫

♫ Thinking that I'd spend the rest of my life alone ♫

♫ Why does this old acquaintance ♫

♫ Delight my heart ♫

♫ Disrupting passing times ♫

♫ Raging a storm inside ♫

Young Master, you've been smiling

since last night.

We've been trying so hard lately

but you two have barely gotten any closer.

Your progress is too slow.

It's a disappointment for our audiences

and readers out there.

What about injuring yourself to gain her attention?

That'd speed things up

between you and Miss Zi Yuan.

I've thought of that before

but Yue Zi Yuan is just too smart.

She won't fall for it.

Moreover,

as a man,

one shouldn't be overly engrossed in romantic affairs.

Young Master, look.

The sun is rising from the west.

You're actually saying something like that?

Aspirations like mine are quite hard

to be comprehended by laymen

such as yourself.

Xue Dyehouse

Now let's get down to business.

Mr Sun.

Mr Sun.

I said no deal, remember?

Go away. Blackie, bite.

Young Master, Young Master.

Xue Dyehouse

Since it bit you, why didn't you bite it back?

Enough with your hindsights.

Where were you back there?

If I were there,

the dog would be the one limping now.

Go back and bite it tomorrow.

Oh, so there's a second act to your tear-jerking performance?

Miss Yue, Young Master is injured.

Really? How?

Today, Young Master and I went to West Street to look for Mr Sun.

He not only rejected the business proposal,

-but also sicced his dog on us. -He sicced his dog on us.

What's the matter?

You didn't work out the lines with Liu Tiao beforehand?

You're giving yourself away.

You think you can put on

the same act twice?

Zi Yuan, I'm really injured this time.

As if I'd believe you.

Well, it's better that way.

She won't have to worry about me.

Send me back.

My leg hurts and my heart is tired.

Zi Yuan.

Mistress, why are you here?

I've got good news.

Zi Jun managed to recruit a few people today.

I just treated them to a meal in the restaurant.

Zi Yuan.

Yang Xiao was bitten by Mr Sun's dog.

I know.

It was all fake. You've been fooled by them.

No, this time it's true.

You're really hurt?

Let me see.

Was it bad?

Which leg was hurt? Show me.

It's nothing. I'm fine.

The dog bite looks really nasty.

I don't want to scare you.

Besides, Liu Tiao had taken me to see the doctor.

It's nothing.

Then don't stand up.

Sit down, quick.

Be careful.

Are you sure you are fine?

You might get rabies from dog bites.

Your whole body will ache with pain,

you'll shiver and react slower,

your ears ring and ache while white foam comes out your mouth.

You'd even bite others...

Hold on, I'm really fine.

What about the new trade route?

As for that matter,

I've recruited a few people lately

but there haven't been any orders yet.

So I was thinking,

what if for our first business...

You've gotten smarter.

I thought of this before too.

That's why I was walking all over

in search of a disguise.

Without it, no one would buy it.

Once we're done with the first,

things will get easier later on.

By then,

let's get Yuan Zi Jun's free labour again.

Where is he now?

Do we really need so many people?

Of course.

When the time comes,

we'll split into two groups.

I'm Shuan Zi of Shenwei Armed Escorts.

Shenwei Armed Escorts

We thank our fellow villagers for your support.

The new trade route is open now.

We're ready to receive orders now.

This new route is short and takes less time to travel at a reasonable price.

This is a deal of great value.

Don't miss out on it.

You don't want to.

Young Master Yuan, you're so lazy.

That's right.

Banging the gong, hitting the drums or hailing...

At least do one of them.

That Yang Xiao

always makes others labour for him.

If it weren't for Miss Zi Yuan,

I wouldn't be here at all.

That's so kind of you.

You've got such a charming face.

If you don't show yourself out here,

you'd be letting down

all the young ladies of Guiyue state.

That's right.

If my sister notices this charming side of yours,

perhaps she might have a change of heart?

True.

I... I usually make a living with my talent.

Yet you're forcing me to use my physical attractiveness.

But for the sake of Miss Zi Yuan, I'll go all out.

Take a look over here.

It's me, the most handsome man in Nanyang.

With the new trade route open,

better days are ahead of the people

of Guiyue state.

You don't want to miss out on this deal.

A Plea to the Imperial Censor

My lord, I have some news.

Speak.

Yue Zi Yuan and the gang

are conspicuously promoting

the new trade route to the public.

These fools.

Have they grown tired of their own lives?

They really do intend

to bring doom upon themselves.

A Plea to the Imperial Censor

Shenwei Armed Escorts

Shuan Zi.

Why didn't they assign Yuan Zi Jun

Shenwei Armed Escorts

for this deceptive operation?

Everyone has a different set of skills.

Unlike us, he's not cut out for this.

Shuan Zi.

What are you doing?

Do you think they'd

suddenly emerge around us

and kill us before we know it?

Relax.

It's just a run-of-the-mill situation for me.

Shenwei Armed Escorts

Shenwei Armed Escorts

It's empty.

Retreat.

Someone from Qingfeng Camp.

Shenwei Armed Escorts

Retreat.

Big brother, long time no see.

It's been so long

since you came to visit me.

Are you enjoying your love life

with Yang Xiao?

That's not true.

I'm now here for some serious business, am I not?

I know you too well.

So, why are you here?

It's like this.

The new trade route is ready.

I'm planning to make the first delivery.

But the route is

pretty dangerous.

I was hoping that you can

help protect the convoy for me?

No problem. That's a small matter.

I'll have my men from Qingfeng Camp with me.

No one will dare interrupt your journey

on the new trade route.

Chief.

Let Da Bao and me catch them now.

No. Let them go.

Isn't this laying trouble for the future?

We can't let them escape, Chief.

We should take the opportunity...

You guys are too simple minded.

The reason this new trade route can't open all these years

is because bandits are running rampant here.

The merchants don't feel safe.

Today we're just teaching them

a small lesson only.

From now on, with Qingfeng Camp on the watch,

the merchants can finally travel safely

via Zi Yuan and Yang Xiao's new trade route.

Isn't that right?

Shenwei Armed Escorts

I wonder how's the situation over there with Shuan Zi and the rest.

With Chief Zheng standing guard, it's going to be fine.

Don't worry.

Once this trip is made,

it means a pioneering success

for the new trade route.

We're getting closer to our goals.

Opening the new trade route.

Getting married in the capital city.

Having two kids within three years.

It's better to have a son for our first born.

Brothers are better at taking care of others.

When we've got a daughter after that,

then we could...

Stop talking and keep walking.

Shenwei Armed Escorts

My lord.

You're injured?

It was my mistake. I fell for Yang Xiao's trap.

They split into two groups.

That's how I ended up

besieged by Zheng Xiu of Qingfeng Camp.

It seems

we've underestimated them.

Don't worry, my lord.

I've confirmed that

we weren't identified by them.

Next time, be smarter.

Don't act recklessly.

Yes.

My lord, don't worry.

General Fan is dead.

The entire Guiyue state

is literally yours to rule.

Who else can overpower you?

Have you forgotten about Gu Shu Yu?

How can she be your rival?

Why do you think that

she isn't worthy to be my rival?

What exactly has caused you

to have this fallacy?

Perhaps that's Gu Shu Yu's intention all along.

We're talented in scholarship and martial arts respectively.

She can't beat me in terms of scholarship.

I can't beat her in terms of martial arts either.

Nonetheless, we're both close competitors.

Wang Jian.

Let me remind you once more.

Never underestimate any of your enemies.

Yes. Please forgive me, my lord.

Zheng Xiu and her men

perhaps have been ignored for far too long.
