Game.

1, 3, 4. Eight.

It's small.

Small.

You win again.

It's really a simple game.

When the total of 3 dice...

...is 10 or above, it's big.

When it's 9 or below, it's small.

Three of a kind is a "trio".

The odds are 160 to 1.

Manager Zhao,

could I...

Place your bets...

Five hundred!

We do not accept this bet.

Afraid?

Okay.

Game. It's big.

Damn!

Sir.

My name is Zhao, the manager.

Mr...?

Just looking around.

All right.

Place your bets...

Miss Cui, there is a rich man.

Probably some tycoon's son.

The diamond ring he wears is as big as a date.

It almost blinded me.

Hopefully, we can clean him out.

You sure?

He could put up a game at home.

Why would he come to a casino?

For a change, perhaps.

Or he learnt that Miss Cui runs this place,

...so he came for you.

You know,

your beauty is well-known.

Nonsense.

Something's up at the dice table.

Let's check it out.

Place your bets...

We follow him.

And we will surely win.

He has won four games in a row.

Yeah, he is our lucky star.

Yes.

Follow him...

Open it...

Game. 3, 3, 1. Seven... it's small.

We win again.

Hurry up...

Hey, place your bets...

Follow him...

We will win for sure.

Place your bets.

Open.

Game. 3, 4, 6. Thirteen, it's big.

Miss Cui.

Gentlemen,

thank you for coming to our casino.

To show our appreciation.

Miss Cui herself will shake the dice.

Yeah...

You win, huh?

Place your bets.

Place your bets...

Come on...

Come on...

Can you afford the loss?

Are you kidding?

We've been here for 20 years.

What if I bet on a "trio"?

We'll accept it.

Place your bets...

Place your bets...

Game.

You want to play another game or cash your chips?

Cash my chips.

All right. Please go on playing.

It's a big blow for the house.

It's like he could see through it.

He got it right every time.

How did he know it's a "trio"?

We should have followed him, damn.

Stop knocking your head.

Or you could break it...

...before you could win a game.

How should I address you?

What?

You want to carve my name on the coins?

You can determine the result...

...by hearing the sound of the shaking dice.

You are certainly a very skilled gambler.

Thank you.

I just took over the house from my father...

...and I am still inexperienced.

Oh, please!

I should thank you.

It's a lot of money.

With that kind of skill...

I don't think you are here for the money.

Tell me what do you want from us.

Smart indeed! You are right, I'd say.

You want this place?

Then what is it?

I'm looking for someone.

Who?

You.

How dare you! Throw him out.

Yes.

Ready.

Dammit! Get him.

Go.

It's me or you.

Stop it.

No wonder your father's known as 1000-hand Buddha.

No one else has mastered this skill...

...in northern China.

So it's good you have learnt.

But I still want you, okay?

You are going too far.

Miss Cui,

I hear you are betrothed.

None of your business.

I just wonder who is the lucky guy!

It's not you anyway.

He's the seventh son of a well-respected man.

His name is Luo.

He is the well-known Luo Tianguang.

Were any tokens exchanged?

Of course.

The old master personally arranged it.

I was there too.

It was a dragon-phoenix jade pendant.

Is this it?

You are...?

Luo Tianguang.

You are master Luo.

My apologies.

The way you acted...

...really scared me to death.

I never thought I would find you.

Live happily together for a hundred years.

I could not believe you would accept me...

just because of a jade pendant.

...and keep your father's promise.

Though ill-luck has befallen my family,

and we became homeless.

I am a happy man now.

Tianguang.

I believe my father has bet it right.

You will surely win in this game.

Although gamblers are not to be trusted,

I trust you.

I can tell when someone cheats anyway.

You are a show-off.

I was just joking.

Cui,

you're all I've got.

I shall protect you from now on.

Tianguang.

Now that I have you, it seems I have the world.

Same goes for me.

Since my father died,

I finally have someone to rely on.

Cui.

We will never part.

I want to discuss with you...

...how to use the little we have...

...to do something meaningful.

But besides running a casino,

I know nothing.

You will learn some day.

Master Lun, how are you?

What brings you here?

Zhao, I heard that...

Tianguang married Miss Cui. Is it so?

Yes,

they got married half a month back.

How dare he call himself my friend.

I don't blame him for not visiting me.

But he didn't even invite me to his wedding.

That's too much!

I'll walk you inside.

It's okay.

With the friendship we have,

he won't mind seeing me...

...kissing his wife.

Tianguang.

He's here after all.

Tianguang.

Master Lun.

Tianguang.

This is the general's nephew.

Mr Lun Liu.

We knew each other.

I am running a casino.

Of course I knew Mr Lun.

Tianguang,

you forgot your old friend.

Master Lun, please don't say that.

I am just a nobody,

but you are the general's nephew.

If I went to you,

people would say something really nasty.

You are my friend. Who dare say that?

Let me explain, my sister.

Tianguang's father saved my father...

...from the kidnappers.

Tianguang is my real friend.

I heard about it from Tianguang before.

But I must have you pay for this.

How?

You must come with me tonight.

I have a game at home.

My luck has been sour lately.

You must help me.

You must say yes.

I didn't say no, right?

Then let's go.

Let's go.

Come on...

Miss Cui.

I never imagined Master Luo got an influential friend.

But Tianguang doesn't really welcome him.

Right.

The casino has closed down for half a month.

You should ask Master Luo about resuming business.

We can't refuse money.

1, 2, 3... 4, 5, 6.

The dealer wins.

You started early today.

Master Lun, we're all here.

But you, as the master, are not.

We just make ourselves at home.

You win again?

I am lucky.

If you are afraid of losing...

Who said I am afraid?

Tonight I bring a friend along.

He's Mr Luo...

My name is Tianguang.

His name is too big.

He just won't let me introduce him.

Tianguang, this is Mr Hao Lishan.

He has won all games in the past 7, 8 days.

Master Luo of Tianjin has 7 sons,

who were known as the seven knights of Luo. You...

I've heard of them.

Bring my personal safe.

Yes.

They are all my friends.

Come on.

Join us.

Okay.

How much shall we place tonight?

Let's place every penny on it.

I have 30,000 dollars.

So have I.

Okay, it's our game.

The highest throw wins.

Okay, I'll throw the dice first.

Better let Mr Hao have a go.

All right.

It's 35 in total by six dice.

Master Lun, you will lose the game.

I know.

I can't order the dice to give me a 36,

...can I?

Okay, you win.

Wait.

The dice may listen to me.

Let me throw them for you.

All right.

If Master Hao doesn't mind.

You have no chance to win the game.

Okay.

I have an idiosyncrasy.

How about increasing the stakes?

How much?

Anything you say.

Master Lun, you've already agreed on your bet.

I will place a separate bet.

How much is this worth?

How about $20,000?

Okay, $20,000 it is.

It's a deal.

Nice dice.

Are they yours?

Yes, from my ancestor but they won't listen to me.

Don't worry, they will listen to me.

Wonderful... all six.

Master Hao, you lose.

I win back every penny I lost.

What a luck!

Enough for today. Here is twenty grand.

Must be a streak of sheer bad luck!

You better go home and have a rest.

We'll meet again.

Master Hao.

He is mad.

He can afford to lose. Why is he mad?

I hear he's the commander's cousin.

Why did he leave after losing a game?

He had to go.

Why?

Damn, he fixed the game.

You would never win his money.

But these are Master Lun's dice.

He knew the kind of dice you used...

...after the first game.

The next day, he brought his own dice...

...and exchanged them with yours.

He switched them back after the games.

Just before he left just now,

he tried to switch them back.

But I stopped him.

No wonder!

We've lost so much money to him.

Master Lun, you got your money back.

But what about ours?

Yes...

You can afford the loss.

Don't worry.

Hao Lishan dare not show up again.

Place your bets.

Big.

And you?

Big.

You too?

Small.

See here.

That was fast!

You can't lose.

Teacher.

Teacher...

Damn that Luo Tianguang.

I don't intrude in whatever he does.

How dare he expose me?

Could he be the seventh son...

of Master Luo?

It must be him.

How dare he make a fool of me?

Xiaosan, how's your skill?

Try me.

I say small.

Big. The secret is here.

Not bad.

After today, you are our only hope.

Teacher, when you left...

Superintendent Ma sent for me.

Don't worry.

I met Superintendent Ma. He treated me well...

...and knows about us.

How much does he want?

0.3

Reasonable.

He told us to inform him first...

...when we set up a game.

He will arrest the gamblers.

That's good for us.

The general has ordered to ban gambling.

Those who got arrested must be bailed out.

Would he even dare raid Lun's residence?

Lun is the general's nephew.

But the general has got to protect himself.

And Lun wouldn't want to go to court either.

Right, that's what we will do.

Laosan,

you bring a few men with you...

...and station them near Lun's residence.

Let's teach Luo a lesson first.

Teacher, don't worry.

I will get him.

Stop there.

Are you Luo Tianguang?

What is this?

How dare you fool our teacher?

Get him.

Here is something to remember me by.

Go back and tell Hao to leave immediately.

What happened? You've fought with someone?

Yes. There is a cheat called Hao Lishan...

...cheating Lun Liu of his money.

I exposed him.

He sent his men to ambush me.

But I took care of them.

Tianguang, you shouldn't have exposed him.

Remember, we run a casino too.

Cui, forget about the casino.

I am closing it down.

It's a good business.

It brings in 300 to 500 dollars a day.

Why close it down?

It's not a proper business.

Both our families ran casinos.

What have we done wrong?

A lot.

So many have lost their life's savings.

Some even sold their children...

...or killed themselves because of gambling.

Let's stop ruining others' lives.

My husband is a righteous man.

Why did you learn all the gambling skills...

...and make a scene at my casino...

...the other day?

I just wanted you to know you might lose.

I use gambling to stop gambling.

To expose the cheats!

Tianguang, you will make many enemies.

I don't care.

You are my husband.

I'll let you decide what to do with the casino.

But what you do outside...

That is also of my concern, isn't it?

You don't know the situation here.

You may have the skills, but they wield power.

I afraid you are not their match.

I don't mind.

Cui, are you afraid of them?

Of course not.

Captain Fan, it's been a long time.

Cut that out. You know why I am here.

If the casino was operating...

you'd surely get your dues.

However...

What? You closed it down?

Master Luo decided that.

Master Luo?

Who is he?

He's Lun Liu's friend. A top gambler.

Hao Lishan took a licking...

...from him.

He uses gambling to stop gambling...

...and put many men out of business.

No one knows his motive.

I am afraid other casinos may close down too.

Sir, that means a reduction in income.

I can fix him if he plays again.

But if it's Master Lun's residence...

So what?

He may be the general's nephew...

...but the general himself ordered to ban gambling.

ADC Wang.

Yes.

Send for Hao Lishan.

Yes.

And his student Xiaosan.

Send for him too.

Yes, sir.

There is no way...

...he can escape from my clutches.

Is Master Luo home?

Master Luo, why there is nobody at the casino?

Anything wrong?

There is a remarkable dice-shaker named Ju.

And Master Lun needs you.

Okay, I'll be right there.

Game. 1, 3, 4. Eight.

Small.

Damn. Lose again.

Gambling needs a bit of thought.

Be patient.

Pay the bets on small.

You always take the big bets.

Place your bets.

Game.

6, 6, 4. It's big.

Master Lun.

It's big.

Tianguang.

Tianguang, this is Master Ju.

Bad luck... I lost every game.

Master Ju, you are from...

Hefei.

Master Ju is a big shot in Hefei.

Nice to meet you.

Same here.

Place your bets.

Place your bets...

Final call. Game.

Damn it. Another cheat.

Get him.

Don't let him get away.

Luo.

You exposed me today.

You will pay for this.

Let's wait and see.

Today it's either you or me!

Please spare me.

I won't kill you,

but I will make sure you can't play again.

So you can't cheat again.

Xiaosan.

Master...

It's a raid.

What should we do?

If the general finds out...

You go upstairs.

And the others leave by the back door.

Okay...

I can handle this. Go upstairs now.

Don't move...

My name is Luo. They are my guests.

What is this about?

Search.

Yes...

Captain, there is a gambling table.

You dare gamble openly.

You will have to come...

to the station with me.

One thousand.

All IOU notes are ready except Luo's.

Good.

Yes, sir.

Since you are all men of influence...

...you are getting off lightly.

Those who have signed the debt note can go now.

Right, let's go.

Bring in Luo. I want to question him.

Yes, sir.

Bring in Luo.

Come with me.

Superintendent Ma?

You know that you've broken the law?

The general hates gambling.

He always questions the gamblers himself.

You could be sentenced to death.

Oh, a death sentence?

Please help me out.

Sometimes I might not be able to.

You are too modest.

I can write you an IOU.

You earn more than a cheat.

Luo Tianguang.

Superintendent.

Damn it.

Watch your manners.

You don't scare me.

I will make sure you won't leave the jail.

...even if you were the general's son.

I am not related to the general.

But I am alone here.

Who did I gamble with?

What?

Damn it. Take him back to the jail.

Yes.

Don't worry. I won't leave.

I would like to meet the general...

and ask him why it's okay to gamble at casinos...

...but not at home?

If he doesn't believe me.

...there are casinos everywhere.

I'd love to take him there...

...and see which corrupt official is at work.

That would be fun.

Damn you. Get out.

It's not that simple.

You won't leave with nothing in my hands.

What do you want?

I want those IOUs back.

I would like to give them back to my friends.

Then I will be silent about this.

I am doing a good deed here.

Bastard.

Yeah, like your guys... just smarter.

Superintendent.

Let me thank you on their behalf.

Idiots. You all are idiots!

Don't be angry. We will fix him.

Captain. Here it is.

Captain Fan, please come in.

Captain.

Captain.

What brings you here, Captain?

Please take a seat.

I heard that you and your men...

...were put down by Luo Tianguang.

That bastard.

He broke my arm.

He even offended the superintendent.

I've heard about it.

Lun Liu and his friend have the IOUs back...

...and bragged about this.

Is there anything you can do?

Only one thing. Finish him off.

How?

Send for Zhao of the Casino.

There must be a way.

Miss Cui.

Why are you staring into space?

I'm used to being busy and you're seldom home...

You will get used to it.

Things will be fine in a few days...

...when I finish my business.

Then I will keep you company.

Really?

Of course I am not happy about it.

But Luo Tianguang...

decided to close it.

He is a tough one.

Hao, how many men have you got?

5 to 6 besides Laosan.

Captain Fan, don't you have subordinates?

We are in the government.

We can't act openly.

Captain Fan, it's easy.

There are some 200 people...

...who were in the business.

They won't stand to lose their livelihood...

...and hate Luo Tianguang.

They would do it for you and themselves.

That won't work.

You are saying...

...we should let him drive us out of business?

No, I am saying let's talk to Miss Cui first.

She is a woman after all.

We give her a scare and they may leave the town.

If that is the case,

we simply do it by hook or crook.

Let's kill him on the road.

That will put an end to it.

Good idea.

As for Miss Cui, I will come to her rescue...

She'll be grateful to me...

...and may even marry me.

I've had an eye on her all those years.

Then you'll own the Casino.

I still need your help.

Let's work on his wife first.

But Miss Cui...

isn't easy to handle.

Hao, take some men along and go with Zhao.

Do what you can.

All right.

Miss Cui.

Zhao.

Did you spend all the money I gave you?

No. Where is Master Luo?

He's out.

Miss Cui, something bad is going to happen.

I must tell you.

He has offended the local gamblers.

And drove them out of business.

They want to finish him off.

You had better leave the town.

Is that all?

I think he can handle those people.

He even gets in Superintendent Ma's way.

The Casino is closed down.

What can the superintendent do to us?

Miss Cui, you are wrong.

Ma runs all the casinos at the back...

...and is merciless.

He is cruel and ruthless.

We must be careful.

I've served you and your father all these years.

I can't see you being killed.

Zhao, what do you...

I have a relative in the country.

Why don't you go there first.

...and come back when things die down.

All right.

But I must speak with Tianguang first.

Talk it over, sort of.

He is my husband afterall.

Yes, but you must act quickly.

Immediately go and pack up.

I will see you off.

I will go in and have a look. Wait here.

If you see anything unusual, come inside.

All right.

Cui, why would you listen to Zhao?

I can tell he is a fox.

It's for our own good.

Why would you become chicken-hearted?

I am chicken-hearted, okay?

I might leave alone.

What?

Tianguang, however skilled you are...

...they still run this place.

I am not scared.

You can go alone.

Tianguang...

Miss Cui.

Master Luo refused to go with you?

I will stay with him anyway.

He is just selfish.

He must think for you.

Enough.

What's so good in him anyway?

He is just another gambler.

He does not deserve you.

I, except that I am a bit older,

...can match him in anything.

What is that?

I've been serving you all these years.

Are you really that blind?

You...

Out.

Out you go.

Zhao Fu.

Get out.

You asked for it.

If you don't leave today...

...you will be in big trouble.

From whom?

Me.

Zhao Fu, we've treated you well.

You are a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Save it. Do your job.

Go...

Get out.

Oh shit!

Nothing to be afraid of.

No need to panic.

Just tell Captain Fan Luo killed his wife.

That should do it.

Good idea. Let's leave here.

Go...

You morons,

what's good of killing his wife?

Sir, let me post some guards outside.

Capture Luo when he comes home.

Frame him for murdering his wife.

Everyone would believe that.

Let's put him in jail first.

Then we can do whatever we like.

Can you do that?

Of course.

Cui...

Mrs. Wang.

Cui.

Cui...

Luo Tianguang, you...

...murdered your wife for her money.

What?

Get him.

Let me go.

I didn't kill my wife...

Still trying to deny it? Take him.

Yes, sir.

Take him away.

Yes, sir.

Cui...

Go...

Leave... what are you doing here?

Miss Cui is murdered.

What happened?

Is it true that Luo killed Miss Cui?

Why are they taking him away?

I don't believe this.

Who cares? We can't help him.

Miss Cui was still young.

You are wrong.

Although Miss Cui ran a casino,

she was nice to everyone.

She's dead and her husband is framed.

We must inform Master Lun...

...about that.

You will go?

Sure.

Go.

Hang him.

Yes.

Superintendent.

If we hadn't attacked from behind...

we'd never have caught him.

Bloody just kill him to put an end to it.

Yes.

Execute him.

Sir,

there is a Lun Liu to see you.

Say I am not in.

He's already come in.

Idiot.

Superintendent Ma.

Wait.

Tianguang.

Tianguang.

Master Lun, this is the magistracy.

What brings you here?

I came to see Lo Tianguang.

He's a murderer. No visitors allowed.

He was with me all day yesterday.

He couldn't have killed someone.

We have evidence.

We go by martial law here.

Anyone breaking the law must be court-martialed.

No one can take him away.

I knew you'd say that.

Chief Superintendent Shen is in your office.

He came personally.

Can he go now?

Shen, you're making it difficult for me.

Ma, Lun Liu is the general's nephew.

Show him some respect.

Let him take his friend home.

No way. He's a murderer.

We can't afford to let him go.

Master Lun has told me everything.

Luo was with him all day yesterday.

He couldn't have done it.

Must this matter...

...reach the general's ears?

You must give me your word first.

Yes?

Whether he lives or dies,

he must leave town and never come back.

All right. Let's say...

after going through this tragedy,

...he knows he is not your match.

What else would he dare?

With your guarantee, they can go.

Captain Fan, let Luo go.

From the back door.

Yes.

Shen, if I were you...

I wouldn't mix with these people.

Sorry, I will have to go.

All right.

He's gone?

Now we can get rid of a pest.

Give it to me.

What?

Don't pretend...

I almost forgot to give it to you.

Zhang, go get a doctor.

Yes.

We will reopen the casino.

Zhao Fu will run it,

...backed by Hao Lishan.

Zhao Fu takes 30%.

You take 20%.

With our support,

you won't have to worry.

Right.

Thank you for your support.

Go and prepare for the reopening.

Yes.

Any news of Luo Tianguang?

I heard from Master Lun's servant that...

...he's crippled.

Crippled?

Tianguang, is the doctor here yet?

He said I will soon be my old self.

That's because you are strong.

As for Ms. Cui's death,

I already asked Mr Shen to investigate.

Be patient, the truth will be out.

You must not worry about that.

Let's wait until you are fully recovered.

They went too far.

I must find the murderer.

Or she will never rest in peace.

That's the least I can do for her.

The truth will come out.

Ma Bao, Hao Lishan, Captain Fan...

...and Zhao Fu.

They were all responsible for her death.

Oh, I almost forgot.

I heard Ma Bao...

...is going to reopen the Casino.

Reopening again!

What?

Fortune Casino.

Welcome, gentlemen.

Welcome.

Welcome, please come in.

This way, please.

Place your bets. Place your bets...

Place your bets.

Place your bets...

Game.

Game. 6-6-5. Seventeen, it's big.

Seventeen, it's big.

Damn, out of luck today!

Haven't won a single game.

Zhao...

Oh Mr Zhao,

I am cleaned out.

Come back tomorrow.

Could you...

I am sorry.

Miss Cui used to...

What?

Get out...

Now you are the boss, you act big.

Throw him out?

Yes.

Go.

I won't forget this.

Get out.

Bastard,

you will pay for this.

It's broad daylight. What are you doing?

Who cares?

Please don't.

Wang may hear it. It'd be embarrassing.

So what?

The hell with him.

Could you not wear that thing, it's hard!

It hurts me.

Hard? That's why it's so valuable.

It's part of your spoils, like me.

Didn't expect me, did you?

We can talk this over.

Who killed my wife?

I didn't.

Zhao Fu and Hao Lishan did it.

It had nothing to do with you?

Calm down... this will do you no good.

What good do I want anyway?

Men...

Place your bets.

Place your bets.

Luo Tianguang?

Remember me?

Laosan.

Get him.

You all know that...

...my wife was murdered.

Those not concerned better leave now.

Go...

Something bad is going to happen.

Let's go.

Luo Tianguang, don't lose your mind.

Superintendent Ma will get you.

Superintendent Ma?

Attack.

Come on...

Don't move.

Get him alive.

Without my order, nobody is to shoot.

Why do you hesitate?

If you capture me,

you'll be the chief superintendent.

Okay, a lot of nerve you got there!

But I will get you. Get him.

Yes, sir.

Dammit... Fire!

Stop.

Drag him out.

Yes, sir.

You...

Cui...

Tianguang.

Tianguang.

Tianguang...
