Maid Escort

Episode 16

Sister Zi Yuan,

I have some important information.

It was Hu Mei Ren who did it.

I bribed

Hu Mei Ren's servant.

She overheard Hu Mei Ren reprimanding Chun Tao

for not properly disposing

of the nanny's body.

Sister Zi Yuan,

this can put you in the clear.

Yuan Zi Jun, you did great.

But now we only have the news.

It won't work without evidence.

But didn't we already know who did that?

We knew that

but where is the evidence?

Are we going to tell them

we only overheard that Hu Mei Ren was the murderer?

This is speaking without proof.

Right.

About the matter of Hu Mei Ren,

we need not only physical evidence,

but a witness, too.

According to what you just said,

I know someone

who might give us a breakthrough.

Who is it?

Chun Tao.

Zi Jun, did you know anything about

Chun Tao

from their conversation?

Chun Tao?

Seems like Hu Mei Ren has Chun Tao's parents.

They are in the general's courtyard.

She might not want to come forward

to testify since

Hu Mei Ren has her parents.

I have a plan.

Hu Mei Ren wasn't pleased with me.

What if she treats me

like she treated the nanny?

No one would take care of my parents.

She will kill my...

Father, Mother!

Why are you here?

It's... It's you!

You know me, right?

Zheng Xiu from Qingfeng Camp of Qingyue Mountain.

Chief Zheng, I'm begging you.

Let my parents go!

I'll do anything you want me to do!

Please let go of my parents!

Anything?

Yes, anything!

Okay.

Then tell me.

What was the poison that killed General Fan?

Chun Tao, the death of General Fan is relevant to

the safety of the entire Guiyue State.

Someone framed me.

Those behind this

are not only trying to kill me,

they are up to something more terrible.

And it'll eventually lead to

the destruction of the lives of Guiyue State's people.

It's possible for that.

Think about it.

When that happens, it won't just be your parents.

All the citizens might perish, too.

You still won't talk, right?

Okay then.

You...

What are you going to do?

I know Hu Mei Ren threatened you with

your parents' lives.

But you have to think carefully.

I have your parents' lives now.

Are you going to say it or not?

Don't!

I'll say it! I'll say it!

I'm doomed

anyway.

But you

have to keep my parents safe.

Come.

Slow down.

I, Yue Zi Yuan, swear.

As long as I'm alive,

I'll never allow Hu Mei Ren

to hurt your parents.

Hu Mei Ren single-handedly

plotted General Fan's death.

So was the death of the nanny.

Nanny,

Master asked me to give you a cup of wine.

Your family's lives are in your hands.

What poison was it?

Zhenling Flower.

As expected.

Hu Mei Ren gave me that.

She forced me to frame you

with my parents' lives.

Miss Zi Yuan,

please let my parents live.

I'm willing to be the witness

and clear your name.

Chun Tao, you're now a witness

but without physical evidence,

how could others believe in what you said?

I have proof.

Zhenling Flower is in Hu Mei Ren's room.

Officer Gu,

what can I do for you

this late at night?

Officer Gu, the murderer who murdered General Fan

is Hu Mei Ren.

Hu Mei Ren?

Do you have any evidence?

This is...

Zhenling Flower.

Chun Tao, tell us everything

you know.

Yes, Young Master Yang.

Officer Gu,

that day,

Hu Mei Ren asked the nanny

to poison General Fan's milk.

And then...

Hu Mei Ren is suspected of poisoning General Fan.

Fan Residence

The evidence is conclusive.

There shall be no amnesty for those who stand in our way.

Report.

Hu Mei Ren has escaped.

She can't be far.

Get after her!

Search through the city!

Stop the carriage!

Madam Hu, someone is stopping us.

As expected, it's you two.

The other roads

have been blocked by Officer Gu's army.

Hu Mei Ren, you can't get away today.

The opening of Guiyue trade route

is beneficial to the country and the people.

But you murdered General Fan for personal gain,

and abandoned the people.

The evils we bring on ourselves are the hardest to bear.

Are you going with us

or do you want us to tie you up?

Lord Wang,

I can't serve you anymore.

Notice

Hurry up!

Come take a look.

It's not Yue Zi Yuan.

It's not Yue Zi Yuan.

Notice

I told you.

Notice

Okay! Done!

Yinfeng Pavilion

Sister, how is it?

This is the best place I chose to post.

I guarantee everyone in the city can see it.

This is the paste I specially made.

The tornado can't blow it off either.

Great!

I'm no longer a murderer.

Zi Yuan,

it's been a hard time for you.

Today is a big day.

Let's find a place to celebrate!

How about celebrating at my Qingfeng Camp?

Yinfeng Pavilion

Brother!

Chief Zheng!

Brother, it's great!

I'm no longer a murderer.

Congratulations, Zi Yuan!

Today,

Qingfeng Camp has prepared wine

and would like to invite all of you for a gathering.

That's great!

I'm able to clear my name,

thanks to a person.

Shuan Zi, Liu Tiao,

you've got to make a run

and invite Officer Gu for me.

Okay!

Yinfeng Pavilion

Let's go!

Yang Xiao,

please

invite Mistress Mu Yun for me.

Qingfeng Camp

Eat up!

Thank you

for coming to the Righteousness Hall of Qingfeng Camp.

My brother, Zi Yuan, has cleared

her name today.

You are all Zi Yuan's saviours.

That makes you my saviours, too.

Here, cheers!

Here, cheers! Cheers!

Cheers!

Especially Officer Gu,

you can put the past and

the prejudice against me aside.

I represent Qingfeng Camp to propose a toast to you.

Don't mention it.

Chief Zheng takes the local bandits in,

prevents them from hurting anyone,

and allows people who had lost their

homes to have a decent life.

I really respect that.

No discord no concord.

Here, have a drink.

I should thank Officer Gu

for not putting us in jail.

Why don't the three of you drink with us?

Officer Gu, let the three of us drink with you.

Officer Gu.

Drink up!

People suffer in the rise and fall of the nation.

If the trade route hadn't been cut off,

I guess they would be more willing

to live a peaceful life.

You're right.

Everyone has been

running around to exonerate me

during this period.

I'm afraid I, Yue Zi Yuan,

would've been decapitated without all of you.

Here's a toast to all of you!

Cheers!

Cheers! Cheers!

Here! Cheers!

Yang Xiao,

thank you so much.

All words but no action?

Officer Gu,

what are you going to do with Hu Mei Ren?

Hu Mei Ren killed my master.

Now that Hu Mei Ren is brought to justice.

It takes a load off my mind since

I've avenged my master's death.

The criminal has been brought to justice

but it's just the start of the matter of the new trade route.

Right.

As for the upcoming matters,

I'm counting on you guys.

The opening of the new trade route is imperative.

I, Yang Xiao, will do my best.

Here, one more toast!

Come, cheers!

Today is a big day!

Cheers! Cheers!

Everyone is having fun today.

Why are you looking at the moon alone on the rooftop?

It took just a few months from the

capital city to Guiyue State

but many things had happened.

Look at the moon.

The moon does wax and wane.

And so men meet and say goodbye.

There has been nothing perfect since the olden days.

These matters

are nothing

in our life.

Don't you agree?

I didn't expect

you would say

something humane.

I thought you would talk glibly.

You've underestimated me.

I'll have you know

I'm a diamond in the rough.

As long as you

lightly brush off of the impurities,

you'll see how valuable I am inside.

Lightly brush off?

Believe it or not, I'll kick you off

and destroy you together with all the impurities.

Are you willing to do that?

You never know.

Do you want to try it?

I'm afraid.

Release your hand.

It's cold and windy up here.

I'm afraid you'll catch a cold.

I'll have to take care

of you if you catch a cold.

So this hug

is not for you but for me.

You are self-aware.

Of course.

You certainly have to take care of me if I catch a cold.

But I won't take care of you if you catch a cold.

We should take care of each other.

No, you take care of me.

Seems like this gathering makes you depressed.

Since you know he loves someone else,

why let yourself fall in deeper?

It's hard to love someone in a lifetime.

But once one's in love with a man,

it's hard to turn the attention to another man.

About the matter of love,

why would I give myself a hard time

if I could control it?

Then what are you going to do?

Do you want me to help you come between them?

Why would I do that?

Aren't you in love with Yang Xiao?

Yes, I am.

But they're so happy together.

Why should I come between them?

Don't you want to be with him?

Yes, I do.

Then why don't you steal him away?

You won't understand.

Woman's so troublesome.

Are you talking about me?

Hu Mei Ren.

Where is he? Why didn't he come to save me?

You've failed. Lord is very disappointed.

No, I didn't mean to!

Please give me another chance!

Just one last time!

Please give me another chance!

You should know

my lord's rules better than anyone.

Admit all the sins by yourself.

And then...

Lord Wang, I'll see you in my next life.

Qingyue Town

Wait for me! Wait for me!

Zi Yuan, I suddenly think that

I'm the luckiest man in the world.

Look at this, it looks nice.

Do you like it?

I'll buy you one if you like it.

I don't want to.

How much is this candied fruit?

Three cents for a skewer.

Give me two skewers.

Do you want the large one or the small one?

I'm fine with both.

It's a bit sour for the large one,

a bit sweet for the small one.

Which one do you want?

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao, where are you?

Young lady, your candied fruit!

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao, where are you? Yang Xiao?

Miss Bai, why do I get the feeling that you're not happy?

The Lantern Festival in Qingyue Town

may not be as good as the one in the capital city,

but it's a festival

for the people of Guiyue to reunite.

The ambience here is just as good as the capital city's.

Young lady, check out the sugar paintings.

I thought something happened to you.

Never part in this life

I know you like this.

I managed to snatch it from the peddler.

♫ Cool breeze and bright moon are a perfect match ♫

♫ Meandering through the ages ♫

It looks nice.

♫ Adamant not to fall in love again ♫

♫ Yet you slipped into my dreams ♫

♫ It has always been myself in these dreams ♫

♫ Thinking that I'd spend the rest of my life alone ♫

♫ Why does this old acquaintance ♫

♫ Delight my heart ♫

♫ Disrupting passing times ♫

♫ Raging a storm inside ♫

If you like this sugar painting,

I'll buy it for you.

Yin Ruo!

Yang Xiao, Yue Zi Yuan?

Second Brother, you're still alive?

Yin Ruo, why are you here?

Why am I here?

I should ask you that.

Yin Ruo, I can explain everything.

What are you trying to explain?

You're kissing in public.

Does it need any explanation?

Miss Bai,

it's not what you think, I...

Then what is it?

Are you trying to say that you're dead

and you're now a spirit?

Yang Xiao, do you know how hard it is for me

to live with the rumours?

Everyone is saying that

you ran off to Guiyue State

with my servant to

avoid our marriage contract.

I'd been keeping a vigil for you and

I hadn't eaten anything for seven days

since I heard about your death.

One of you had died and one of you had gone to jail.

Every one in the capital city

is calling me, Bai Yin Ruo, a jinx.

My fiance,

Yue Zi Yuan and my mother

died because of me.

I even wanted to throw myself off a bridge.

And you?

Yin Ruo, listen to me.

It's true that Yang Xiao was dead

and I was put in jail.

But Yang Xiao came back from the dead.

And I...

Things are too complicated.

It's hard to explain!

It's indeed complicated.

Yang Xiao,

our marriage was arranged,

but you're still an engaged man.

You even faked your own death

just to be with Yue Zi Yuan.

And you,

Yue Zi Yuan,

to think I treated you as my favourite sister.

I even defended you

when I heard the rumour.

It turned out that all of this was a conspiracy for

both of you to be together!

It's not like this!

Second Brother, what's going on?

Set it straight with Miss Bai!

Brother, this is too much

to explain in a short time.

Why don't we talk about it

after Miss Bai calms down?

But there's one thing I must make clear.

Miss Bai, Zi Yuan has never betrayed you.

It's all my fault.

I'm willing to bear the responsibilities.

Enough, I don't want to hear it anymore.

You gave me this bracelet

as a pledge when you came

to my house to propose.

I bring it with me every day

because I wish that one day I could be with you

and become the happiest person in the world.

At this point...

From now on,

I, Bai Yin Ruo,

you, Yang Xiao, and you, Yue Zi Yuan,

are over.

Let this be the proof!

Yin Ruo!

Yin Ruo!

Yin Ruo! Miss Bai!

Yin Ruo!

Zi Yuan!

Yin Ruo! Wait!

Yin Ruo!

Yang Xiao, explain

what happened when you fell off the cliff.

How can you come back from the dead?

And

what's going on between you and Yue Zi Yuan?

Brother, you asked so many questions at once,

I have no idea which to answer first.

It's true that I fell off the cliff.

And it's true that everyone thought I was dead.

However,

Zi Yuan found a physician and he saved me.

It's hard to explain

what's going on between me and Zi Yuan.

But I'm true to Zi Yuan,

I really love her.

It's her or no one for me.

But you knew I didn't agree with

the marriage contract

with Miss Bai from the beginning.

Didn't you think I was gay?

I admit that I was wrong.

I got carried away and agreed

to this kind of business marriage

with Miss Bai.

You...

You're killing me!

Do you think marriage is a game?

Brother, don't be mad.

But Zi Yuan has never betrayed

Miss Bai Yin Ruo.

Can you talk to her

and intercede for us?

Tell her not to get the wrong idea.

Okay, I'll talk to her.

But the choice is hers.

Brother, you must talk to her for us.

Yin Ruo, listen to me!

Yin Ruo! Yin Ruo!

Yin Ruo, don't go!

Listen to me!

What else is there to say?

Are you trying to say you've planned this

for so long that you can't explain it?

No, Yin Ruo!

Listen to me!

I've never thought of betraying you

even for a second.

Yin Ruo!

What are you going to do?

Don't do anything silly!

Stop following me!

Stop following me or I'll...

Okay, I won't follow you.

Calm down, don't do anything rash.

Don't do anything silly!

Yue Zi Yuan,

I don't wish to see you anymore

in my life!

I really wish we could

live like this forever.

Stay away from those disputes

and those grudges.

But Yin Ruo has got us all wrong.

I think I've done something really bad to Yin Ruo.

I wonder where Yin Ruo is.

Things would have been

different without me.

Zi Yuan,

it's not your fault.

Miss Bai

is obsessed with a marriage that is never meant to be.

Actually, her perfect partner is right beside her.

My brother will keep her safe.

Let's go to her and

clear up the misunderstanding

after the new trade route is opened.
