[The Flame's Daughter]

[Episode 41]

Zhan Feng, you've returned?

Uncle.

Didn't you already forsake me for Lie Ru Ge?

I want--

Oh? What is it you want?

I want Lie Ru Ge.

That isn't hard.

You're the only kin I have in this world.

I'll give you whatever you want.

Apart from you and your mother, anyone who betrays me has to die.

You and your mother are my only weakness.

If you obey me from now on, Lie Ru Ge will be yours.

Yes.

All right, get some rest.

Uncle! Yin Xue is at Flame Villa.

What did you say?

This time... He was the one who helped Lie Ru Ge take Flame Villa back!

Yin Xue is still alive?

Dao Wu Xia and Yi Lang were both present that day.

Didn't they inform you, Uncle?

They didn't even report such an important matter to me?

How atrocious.

Uncle, don't you know that Dao Wu Xia is already plotting against you?

Oh? What could Dao Wu Xia possibly plot against me?

Yin Xue is your enemy.

But not his.

That's why he kept it from you.

He wanted you to run into Yin Xue without a clue.

Keep going.

He has taken Yi Lang in.

He made him Head Housekeeper of Top Blade City.

Oh? Interesting.

He even abducted Lei Jing Hong to make him marry into Top Blade City.

What did you say?

Uncle, you didn't hear about it at all?

How dare he even abduct that bastard, Lei Jing Hong?

Uncle...

He doesn't wish to be your puppet.

Get some rest.

Yes.

- Look into two matters. - Yes.

Check to see if Dao Wu Xia really has taken Yi Lang in.

Yes.

Second, check if Dao Wu Xia really abducted Lei Jing Hong.

You're hesitating?

I'm just a bit surprised.

I quite surprised too.

- I'll investigate right away. - No!

Send someone to investigate this.

There's a task I want you to carry out personally.

Take these to Royal Jingyuan Manor and hand them to Yu Zi Han.

Yes.

Third Lady, you brought what I asked for?

So little?

You want it all?

If Supreme Master doesn't trust me, he doesn't have to give me anything.

Yu Zi Han, you're asking for too much.

He has to take a risk if he wants the whole world.

Take this and I'll give them to you.

What is this?

You must prove yourself worthy of his trust.

I've memorized everything you asked for.

Take this and I'll write it all down for you tomorrow.

Escort Third Lady to get some rest.

Yes.

This way, please, Third Lady.

Your Highness.

How could you eat anything that Dark River Palace gave you?

What did I tell you?

I... I'm just worried about your safety.

Your Highness, have you forgotten about when you had the Frost Curse?

Although right now--

That's enough. Not another word.

Your Highness!

Your Highness!

Your Highness, what's wrong?

Your Highness!

Your Highness!

Your Highness!

Search the entire city!

- Yes! - Yes!

Ru Ge...

Ru Ge...

Ru Ge... Ru Ge...

Ru Ge...

Ru Ge...

How is His Highness?

He's still unconscious.

Oh, right. Have you found her yet?

No.

Could she have left Luoyang?

That's impossible.

I have all city the gates guarded.

She can't possibly leave.

How dare you come back here!

I told you I'd be here today.

Tie her up!

- Yes! - Yes!

Tie me up as you wish.

Your Highness.

Your Highness, how do you feel?

Do you know how worried we were?

How long did I sleep?

You slept all night.

We've already found Anye Jue.

- That evil sect-- - What are you saying?

Louder.

We've already found Anye Jue.

I...

I can't hear a sound!

Your Highness, you--

I need to see her.

I need to see her!

Your Highness, what's wrong?

Don't help me up!

Your Highness!

Your legs...

Anye Luo!

Bring Anye Jue to me!

Yes!

Your Highness.

How does it feel to be able-bodied and then disabled again?

The pain is too much to bear.

It's good that you understand.

If you dare to betray Dark River Palace

you'll lose everything you have.

It's indeed clever of the Supreme Master to use the pill

as a deliberate warning.

You're very calm.

If you have the poison, you'll have the antidote.

What have I got to fear?

If I were Supreme Master, I'd never recruit you.

That's why you aren't Supreme Master.

You're only fit to serve him.

Unlock me.

Don't you want the antidote?

I've expressed my sincerity.

But you haven't fulfilled what you promised me.

You're indeed Prince Jingyuan.

You're negotiating terms, under these circumstances?

Dark River Palace and I are just taking advantage of each other.

There are no sentiments involved.

We only negotiate terms.

Bring me some paper.

Xuan Huang!

I can't hear a sound, so I'd write too slowly.

- You write it instead. - Yes.

Third Lady, you may begin.

We'll start from within the palace.

Judicial Court of Review, Chen Zhao.

Lu Xin Fang.

Imperial Banqueting Court, Zhou Kan.

Grand Secretariat Fang.

Court of Imperial Sacrifices.

Your Highness.

If I remember correctly

none of those officials are above the seventh rank.

They aren't even in the inner palace.

Supreme Master believes that it's not yet time to let you know about them all.

Undo her chains.

Yes.

This is the antidote.

You'll recover in 10 days.

Your Highness, you knew it was poisonous.

Why did you still take it?

Anye Luo is skilled in mind games.

I'd be put through such tests sooner or later.

It's inevitable.

Don't worry. I'm still useful to him.

He won't harm me yet.

Yu Zi Han is very shrewd.

Supreme Master, why do you trust him?

I don't trust him, I want to use him.

Now that Prince Jingxian is dead, only he can help me in the palace.

But he's not greedy.

It's hard to manipulate those who aren't greedy.

Everyone is greedy.

It depends on what you have to offer him.

All right.

Tell me about Dao Wu Xia.

I had someone investigate him.

Your doubts have been confirmed.

Supreme Master, why do you care so much about that?

I don't care if he takes someone in.

But both Yi Lang and Lei Jing Hong have special identities.

He has taken both of them in.

That would surely boost his prestige in the Pugilist World.

He's coveting too much.

If Supreme Master is displeased, I'll kill him.

No, not now.

I'll destroy him in front of all the pugilists.

The Pugilist Convention?

Exactly.

Not only do I want him dead, I want Top Blade City ruined.

Dark River Palace can then take its place.

You're still not as beautiful as your mother.

Uncle.

What's the matter?

You've only been back for a few days

and you've already finished half of my best wine.

Are you in so much agony?

She and Yin Xue--

Zhan Feng...

Lie Ru Ge will be yours.

"A marital bond is tied between both ends of the red thread of love."

What are you writing?

A marriage certificate.

Why are you writing this?

We have to make it a convincing act.

You're teasing me again!

There should be a date on the marriage certificate.

I've left it blank.

Keep this safe.

The day I take down Dark River Palace will be the day I marry you.

I don't want it.

You don't want it?

Why should I lie to you?

Why are you blushing?

I'm going to burn it.

We'll head to Top Blade City tomorrow.

Keep it safe.

This is what I owed you.

Madam.

Isn't this a marriage certificate?

Yes.

Granny, come. Have a seat.

Thank you.

Granny, could you tell me about my parents' marriage?

Sure.

Your father was a skilled pugilist, second to none.

But he was actually very shy.

Before they got married

your mother wrote him the betrothal and marriage certificates.

My mother wrote them?

Shouldn't it be the groom who writes that?

Exactly!

After your mother wrote both certificates

she placed them under your father's pillow so he'd find them.

Tell me how they met.

Second Lady, many of our disciples lay dead ahead of us.

Second Lady.

We'll take a detour.

- Yes. - Yes.

Who are you?

Don't you dare hurt our Second Lady!

Step aside.

Supreme Master ordered us to never stray from your side--

Step aside.

Yes.

Sir, I've already taken a detour.

Why won't you let me go?

There are only witches who harm people in Dark River Palace.

I won't spare a single one.

But I've never killed anyone, nor have my disciples.

But they just addressed you as--

Second Lady.

Is that why you accuse me of being a witch?

I won't argue with you.

- I-- - I think you're a good man.

If you kill the wrong person, won't you feel guilty?

What's your surname?

Zhan, as in combat.

Could you take me with you?

I was raised in Dark River Palace but I've never liked the life there.

I wish to leave.

You can take me anywhere.

You can just drop me in the middle of nowhere to live on my own.

Young lady, I'll see you off here.

Thank you, Sir.

Can you take care of yourself?

I might not be as skilled as you are in martial arts

but I'm still a skilled pugilist.

As long as you have the ambition and determination

I think you'll manage just fine.

Sir, we should part here.

I haven't asked you...

Anye Ming.

Zhan Fei Tian.

I have some taels of silver.

I think you'll need them.

If you run into any difficulties, come find me at Flame Villa.

Thank you.

Vegetables!

Fresh vegetables!

After your father left

your mother decided to stay in the small town after taking his taels.

She started a small business to make a living just like everyone else.

She never thought that Anye Luo would soon come after her.

He had actually been stalking your mother in secret.

You'd endure such hardship just to hide from me?

Come back with me.

Just let me off.

I'm begging you.

You're mine.

I raised you.

How can you feel--

But you promised me long ago that you'd marry me.

You were just a child then.

But I've grown up now!

Come home with me.

Let go of me.

I won't return to Dark River Palace with you.

Come home with me!

I won't go with you even if you kill me.

Why would you think that I could bear to kill you?

You said that you wouldn't kill the innocent!

If you don't come with me, they will all have to die!

Stop killing them!

Come with me.

Third Sister.

I'm not your sister!

I was adopted by the former Supreme Master.

But I raised you and Luo.

But I hate you!

You're so old, and yet you still seduced him!

You're seven years older than him!

You raised him.

Why didn't you run away?

I didn't seduce him.

You didn't?

Then why didn't you escape to a faraway place?

Why did you let him find you?

You're right.

Why didn't I run far, far away?

Kill me.

Set me free.

I'm not that foolish.

If I kill you, he'd surely hate me.

I've already sent the guards away.

You better run away quickly.

Run as far away as you can.

Don't ever let him find you!

After Anye Jue set your mother free, she had nowhere to go.

She thought of your father and Flame Villa.

Only Flame Villa was capable of challenging Dark River Palace.

Your father may have been the only one who dared to take her in.

It's so big in your quarters.

But the furnishings are very simple.

A pugilist isn't used to nice houses.

Young lady, you're drenched.

Get changed, quickly.

Get changed quickly, you'll catch a cold in wet clothes.

I heard you.

I borrowed this from my senior's concubine.

If you don't like it, I'll get someone to buy you new clothes tomorrow.

It's all right.

This is very nice.

Get changed then.

How can I get changed when a man is standing here?

I see.

Forgive me for my lack of manners.

Warrior Zhan, please step out.

Yes, please don't worry.

These quarters belong to me.

No one would dare to come in without my permission.

Your father never once doubted that your mother could be a spy.

He even looked after her attentively.

How could your mother not fall for such a kind man?

This is...

I wrote it.

I was going to ask a tutor to write it for me.

How could a tutor write it better than I can?

We should be as thrifty as we can.

We'll need money when we retire from the Pugilist World.

But I feel bad that you even had to write our marriage certificate.

I'll have you feel bad about it for life.

Treat me well throughout this lifetime.

That's how your parents got married.

My father sure was lucky.

Exactly!

Indeed.

Madam is here.

Madam.

Madam, you look like...

The deceased Mrs. Zhan?

That's right!

You look like Mrs. Zhan.

You look so much like her!

If the two of you think so, then my efforts aren't in vain.

Madam, this is...

I'll keep you guessing.

Hall Masters, I'll set out to the Pugilist Convention.

Dao Wu Xia has no right nor the authority.

Madam, you mustn't attend it.

But all the pugilists will be gathering at Top Blade City.

That can't be changed.

Even if everyone goes there, we must not.

Ling, hear Madam out.

We've lost our prestige and reputation among the sects now.

If we wish to host the Pugilist Convention again

we might not be able to gather all the pugilists.

But Top Blade City will be able to pull it off.

They only took advantage of our setback to move up the ranks.

But I need such a convention to settle

some scores between Dao Wu Xia and me.

You're settling scores with him, on his turf?

Madam, aren't you worried that you'll be at a disadvantage?

I'm not.

Judging by Madam's expression, you must have made arrangements.

All right!

We should all get ready.

We'll set out with Madam.

Don't bother.

If all of you accompany me, it will draw too much attention.

That would make Dao Wu Xia suspect my intentions.

I'll just take Hall Master Zhongli Wulei with me.

Yes.

Hall Masters, I'd like you both to hold down the fort at Flame Villa.

- Yes. - Yes.

Should any mishap befall Hall Master Zhongli and me...

I'll have to trouble the two of you to restore Flame Villa to glory.

- Madam! - Madam!

I'll leave Flame Villa to the two of you for now.

- Yes. - Yes.

[Flame Villa]

Take a good look at it.

Who knows when we'll return once we set out on this trip?

I'll definitely return after restoring our reputation.

I believe that you can do it.

Do you still remember the stances I taught you?

- I do. - Good.

Let's get going.

Welcome in!

This way.

Madam, Young Master Xue, have a seat.

I'll make the arrangements.

Sure.

Young Master Yin Xue?

Young Master Xue, you're still alive?

We already met at Flame Villa the other day.

The other day?

The Misty Deity Lineage.

You were that elderly man?

Exactly.

I was fooled by Young Master Xue.

It was just a small joke.

Since you're visiting Top Blade City, why didn't you send someone to inform me?

Here, please join me at my manor.

Castellan Dao is too kind.

Since you've taken over Flame Villa, you've really become more serious.

Here, this way.

Please come in.

- Ask my sister and brother-in-law over. - Yes.

Please have a seat.

Wu Xia.

I've come bearing a gift.

May you remain blissfully locked in love for life.

Thank you.

Young Master Xue, you...

Fortunately, I'm still alive.

Since Madam Lie is here

we should discuss tomorrow's Pugilist Convention.

There's no need for that.

I'm here as a guest, not a host.

That... might not be appropriate?

Since I've given my gift, I needn't stay much longer.

We shall meet again tomorrow.

I take my leave.

Please halt.

Why don't I arrange accommodation for you?

Vacate Yulai Inn.

They will host only Madam Lie and Young Master Xue tonight.

Yes.

Thank you, Castellan Dao.

I'll take my leave then.

I won't walk you out then.

That young lady is getting more adept at bluffing and blustering.

You're Top Blade City's Head Housekeeper now.

Yes.

Madam Lie.

I'll leave your head here for now.

I'll come claim it another day.

Castellan.

Lie Ru Ge is now in an inn here in Top Blade City.

Once you get rid of her, Flame Villa can never make a comeback.

All the pugilists will be arriving at Top Blade City tonight.

If Lie Ru Ge dies in the city, I'm afraid...

I won't be able to answer to any of the pugilist sects.

The Pugilist World belongs only to the fittest.

Tomorrow, you'll become the Head of the Pugilist Alliance.

I think that even if they see you hack Lie Ru Ge to death

they wouldn't dare to say a word.

Do you still remember Thunderbreak Manor?

Didn't Zhan Feng cover up the truth and twist the facts?

Then there was me.

I lost my place as the Master because of a momentary oversight.

Lie Ru Ge is by no means a kind person!

You should be wary of her.

Wu Xia, you mustn't!

Even if Flame Villa has fallen from its former glory

it still has a reputation.

Go rest.

It's your wedding tomorrow.

- But-- - Keep an eye on your groom.

Don't cause me any trouble again.

Wu Xia!

Dao Lie Xiang!

If you try to help Lie Ru Ge, you won't even save Lei Jing Hong!

Go on.

Castellan.

I know you want to kill Lie Ru Ge.

But you're no match for them.

How about this?

Think of a way to lure Lie Ru Ge out of the city.

Then seal off the gates.

Our Top Blade City is at the peak of its prestige.

Those crude pugilists would love to look good.

Once they've elected me Head of the Pugilist Alliance

it will be too late for Lie Ru Ge to attempt anything.

But--

But she won't believe anything I say.

You're Head Housekeeper of Top Blade City.

Just make up some lofty excuses.

Yes.

Castellan.

Follow Yi Lang.

Once he enters the inn to meet Lie Ru Ge, light up the explosives.

But Head Housekeeper Yi would still be in the inn.

He's our bait.

He must be with our prey, of course.

Bring more men with you.

If anyone escapes, hack them to death.

Leave none alive.

What if Yi Lang makes it out alive?

Kill him.

Yes.

Lie Xiang.

What's the matter?

I'm all right.

Are you worried about tomorrow's Pugilist Convention

or our wedding banquet?

Don't read too much into it.

I'm just...

My brother said that although we're already sharing a room

it's best for us to spend the night before the wedding apart.

It's just one night.

Go on.

See you tomorrow, my groom.

See you tomorrow, my bride.

Hurry up.
