[The Flame's Daughter]

[Episode 38]

Third Lady.

You're still alive?

I managed to escape.

Are you here to see Supreme Master?

Yes.

Why are you trying to kill me?

Dark River Palace never takes in stray dogs.

Third Lady, he got away.

You're useless!

Why are you still here?

The pear blossoms in these quarters...

Did you have them planted then?

Yes.

My father had so many chances to tell him the truth.

Why didn't he say a word?

He had to witness Zhan Feng's hatred for him.

Because he loved his godbrother.

He loved you too.

Didn't my father love Zhan Feng too?

He did.

That's why he wanted you and Zhan Feng to get married.

He hoped that you and Zhan Feng could have children together

and continue Flame Villa's bloodline.

Only then could he have Zhan Feng address him as Father.

Father, look at you.

You're smiling as if you're the groom.

Don't smile so much.

What are you talking about?

I know that you're baiting me.

You wouldn't get mad at me today.

Yes, I won't get mad today.

I'm so happy tonight!

No wonder my father...

had that expression when Zhan Feng got married.

He must've been so happy then.

He should've told us the truth.

At least then, Zhan Feng wouldn't have hated him so much.

But if Zhan Feng didn't hate him

Anye Luo would've doubted Zhan Feng's identity.

Therefore...

Master Lie could only let Zhan Feng hate him.

That would cover up the truth.

It's all because of me.

One day...

I'll tell everyone the truth.

I'll let everyone know that...

Zhan Feng is actually my father's son.

I'll let everyone know that...

he's the best father anyone could have.

Madam.

You've found Yi Lang?

Not yet. Yi Lang knows his way around the villa.

It will be hard to track him down.

I've come to report on Young Master Lei's whereabouts.

Is he back in Jiangnan?

Despite the possible danger, he went to Ping An Town

to pay respects to the late Master Xie of Thunderbreak Manor.

Is he still in Ping An Town now?

He has disappeared.

Get Azure Dragon Hall to investigate it secretly.

Yes.

How was the food today?

It was quite good.

- Wasn't it good? - It was.

When I have the time, I have to go back home.

My mother is quite ill.

Madam!

- Check, please. - Sure.

Take care.

You must be hungry?

I haven't had dinner yet either.

I'll make two bowls of noodles and we'll have them together.

I--

I don't have any money.

Not even a penny.

Have a seat. It's on me.

If you keep going, there's only Dongbin Restaurant.

It's too expensive to eat there.

You won't be able to have much there.

Castellan.

He still refuses to surrender?

He's very stubborn.

He went without food and water all day.

He's also very cold to Young Mistress.

How conceited.

I've never seen being Young Mistress so patient.

It's really strange.

Only Young Master Lei can make her so yielding.

People tend to mistreat themselves.

Like me.

I still prefer women who can't be easily subdued.

Are you a pugilist?

Ping An Town is between Top Blade City and Flame Villa.

Many pugilists come to join either sects.

I've seen many like you.

Are you here to join Flame Villa or Top Blade City?

Top Blade City.

Top Blade City is good.

Castellan Dao is a kind man.

A while ago, someone collected illegal taxes from us.

We owe it all to Castellan Dao for finding the culprit

and upholding justice for us.

Otherwise, I wouldn't even be able to treat you to a bowl of noodles.

What brought you into the Pugilist World?

Don't you have family?

My father... used to be a pugilist.

I was born into the Pugilist World, so I'll die in the Pugilist World.

You're left with just one kin?

How pitiful.

I just have one son too.

But he was abducted over 10 years ago.

I wonder if he's a pugilist like you.

Thank you.

You're leaving?

Top Blade City is in that direction.

Why don't I make you something tasty today?

My dear!

My dear, what happened?

My dear, wake up!

Would you like to stay in Top Blade City?

That doesn't seem appropriate.

No matter what, I'm his woman.

It can't be good for me to offend him.

I meant, after he's dead.

I can kill him for you.

Miss Phoenix, you'll have to put up with Lei Jing Hong for a bit longer.

In no time, I'll come looking for you.

[Dongbin Restaurant]

Miss Dao, you're here.

Please come in.

Third Young Mistress.

What are you doing here?

It's pouring outside.

Why would a distinguished lady like yourself eat out on such a day?

My Young Master suddenly went missing in this area.

So I must stay and look for him, of course.

How dare he come to Top Blade City?

He's a very sentimental man.

He said that he wanted to pay his respects at Thunderbreak Manor

but he went missing.

Do you know where he is now?

He's my family's arch enemy.

If I knew of his whereabouts, do you think I'd spare him?

Miss Dao, the usual dishes.

Third Young Mistress, please halt.

I don't like you.

Please leave as soon as possible.

It's a great big world, so you can go anywhere.

Anywhere besides Top Blade City.

Young lady, we're on the Dao family's turf.

Since Miss Dao has said so, I'd advise you to leave soon.

Thank you for reminding me.

You're too kind, young lady.

- Young lady-- - Sir.

What kind of dishes drew Miss Dao here to pick them up personally?

Could it be that there aren't any decent cooks in Top Blade City?

I'm not too sure about that.

But Miss Dao has suddenly favored our food and drinks

since about 10 days ago.

She frequents our restaurant often.

But it's different.

Could the wine be so special that it can't be bought anywhere else?

Our food is second to none.

The flavor hasn't changed in over 10 years.

As for the wine...

What about the wine?

Since the accident with Thunderclap Sect

plum wine from the south has been delivered to the north.

We also started selling aged wine that's very rare.

Why don't you get me a bottle of wine then?

I'd like to try this Jiangnan wine.

Young lady, just a moment. I'll bring it over.

This is wine from Jiangnan.

I know.

You're going to feed me more Inner-force Dissipating Powder.

Poor Lei Jing Hong, who's too feeble to even walk.

What use is he to you?

Martial arts skills, I have.

Wealth, I have it.

I just want you alive.

Aren't you afraid of being mocked?

I'm not.

In the beginning, you'll have to take the powder more often.

But as time goes by

you'll only need to take it once every three to five months.

Once we're married and my brother is no longer wary of you

you won't have to take it.

But not yet.

What if I refuse to take it?

I'll lock your acupuncture point.

And force it down your throat.

Fine.

Castellan.

Get up.

The baby is weighing you down, so don't move around so much.

I heard that you've been having stomach problems again.

I prepared your dinner.

With all your favorites.

All that effort.

If you want me to go to your room, just tell me.

No, it isn't that.

Castellan.

Speak.

Dongbin Restaurant reports that a young lady has been drunk for two days

and no one can make her leave.

A young lady?

Do I have to handle drunk customers now?

The young lady asked to have her wine added to your tab, Castellan.

She said that you owed her.

How interesting.

[Dongbin Restaurant]

Here.

This way.

Don't worry.

Fill it up.

Here, dig in.

I'll fill your cup.

Brothers, thank you for looking after me these years.

Here's a toast to you.

Here, have some food.

Here.

Have some more food.

Here, let's drink.

Young lady, look at just how much you're drinking

because of a broken heart.

My heart aches to see you so.

I've never seen such a pretty young lady like you.

You must be really lucky then.

Even in Luoyang

people would have to pay a 100 silver taels just to look at me.

Young lady, you sure are bold.

She's correct.

She ranked quite highly in the Gorgeous Beauties Ranking.

- Castellan Dao. - Castellan Dao.

Make yourselves at home. There's no need for formalities.

You're here.

How can I not come when you asked me to?

Him.

He treated me frivolously.

Kill him.

Castellan... Castellan Dao.

I really didn't know that... she was your woman.

Miss Phoenix, don't be so hard on him.

Thank you, Castellan!

You can only walk out of here

after you leave behind the hand that touched her.

It seems that you're still clever.

If I had known, I would've held on to you.

It's all right.

It's not too late.

It's all right.

I seem to have seen that somewhere.

It's from Thunderclap Sect's Lei family.

The Lei family is so rich.

I didn't even get to see such things in Luoyang.

You must've taken them all away?

Only I would dare to have such a clever woman.

Castellan.

What is it?

Yi Lang is here.

Is Yi Lang more important to you?

Of course not.

Wait for me.

I'll be back shortly.

Lei Jing Hong, you must try your best to stay alive.

Even if you're dead...

I'll bury your corpse and avenge you.

It's actually Head Housekeeper Yi?

Castellan Dao.

I'm like a disowned dog now... with nowhere to call home.

If you can escape from Flame Villa, it shows that you're still quite capable.

Misfortune may be a blessing in disguise.

Whether or not it's a blessing depends on you, Castellan Dao.

I'll be honest with you.

You're a discarded pawn to the Supreme Master now.

Even if you come to me, there's nothing to do here.

No...

I'll be of use to you.

Oh?

Do tell.

A smart bird chooses a good tree to make its nest.

I can pledge my allegiance to you in front of all the pugilists.

That would surely make Flame Villa look bad.

It would only make them look bad.

It wouldn't hurt them at all.

Castellan, don't you get it?

Sometimes, humiliating them is deadlier than trying to kill them.

Back then, your father lost to Lie Ming Jing...

He felt so humiliated that he died of depression.

Castellan... I know all the branches and businesses of Flame Villa well.

As long as you have me

taking them down is just a matter of time.

It seems like I'll have to rely on you from now on.

Thank you, Castellan Dao.

Wu Xia.

Lie Xiang.

Starting today, Yi Lang will be the head housekeeper of Top Blade City.

Third Young Mistress Dao.

Even dogs can speak, huh?

You can go settle in.

Yes.

How sassy.

Why have you come to see me?

I heard from the disciples

that you brought Phoenix back from Dongbin Restaurant.

You came to see me at this hour to ask about that?

There are so many women in the world.

Why does it have to be Phoenix?

You know that she and Lei--

- How imprudent! - Wu Xia!

She became my woman the moment I brought her back here!

She's not as simple as you think.

So? Is Lei Jing Hong simple?

- He's different. - What's the difference?

I have so many women in my quarters.

Many of them were brought back from the sects we wiped out.

Are any of them that simple?

But who has ever acted up?

That's because they all know that I'm their last pillar of strength!

Who doesn't want a wealthy life?

Who doesn't want to feel safe and secure?

How could a courtesan possibly mess with Top Blade City?

You're just making a fuss out of nothing.

Mentor, are you all right?

It's all right.

My mentor is just trying out your skills.

You actually dealt such a heavy blow.

Youqin.

Mentor...

Did you lose your senses because you couldn't rein in your inner force?

Young Master Xue, how did you know?

Was it Anye Luo who taught you the inner force of Dark River Palace?

Yes.

That's where the problem lies.

There are nine levels in the inner force of Dark River Palace.

He only taught you up to the third level so you're not completely disoriented.

You mean...

I have to do away with this inner force?

No.

Instead of doing away with it, I want you to practice it even more.

If you want to defeat Anye Luo, you have to get to the ninth level.

But he didn't teach me the rest of the essentials to the inner force.

I'll teach you.

There's no need to suspect it.

I used to practice under Dark River Palace as well.

So starting today

I'll teach you the inner force of Dark River Palace.

- Are you willing to learn? - Yes, I am.

Let me finish.

With each level of Dark River Palace's inner force that you practice

a layer of humanity will be stripped from you.

What will become of me in the end?

In the end...

you won't care for love or friendship.

Just like Anye Luo.

No, he can't get to that level.

He never got to the ninth level.

He has what he seeks, but can't have it.

I'm the same.

I've said so much already.

I'll ask you again.

Are you willing to practice this inner force?

You don't have to answer me right away.

Think it over carefully.

What are you looking for? You're so absorbed in it.

Senior Feng, didn't you go to meet Yin Xue?

Why are you here?

I wanted to see you.

I'm trying to find an inner force to control the Frost Curse.

The Frost Curse?

Does Junior Yu still have the Frost Curse in him?

No, it's Yin Xue.

I couldn't tell that he's unwell.

You couldn't tell that he's unwell either, right?

I also think he looks much better these days.

But somehow, I still feel uneasy.

Although Flame Power can help soothe the symptoms

I still think it's best to look for another inner force, just in case.

I'll help you look.

It's all right.

It's just something I thought of, there's no need to have two people on it.

I have nothing to do today.

I can help you look for it.

I'm sorry.

You're sorry?

For what?

The suffering you endured all these years...

It was because of me.

If it wasn't for Father wanting to protect me

he wouldn't have sacrificed you.

I'm sorry.

It wasn't your fault.

I'm to be blamed for it.

If it was you, it never would've ended up like this.

You'd trust Father unconditionally.

I always believed in Father.

That day, Father sent you to Eastern Sea to see Junior Yu.

He planned to take me down then.

But he couldn't bring himself to do it.

I wish he had carried out his plan.

I should've been the one to die.

Do you hate me?

I hate Anye Luo.

He's the one behind it all.

- Ru Ge-- - Senior Feng.

You've said a lot today.

I'll keep looking.

There was a time...

when she was so wrapped up in embroidering a pair of shoes for me.

Young Master, Madam and Deputy Master spent the whole day

in Azure Dragon Hall's library.

Really?

Good.

This is great.

I knew you'd be happy to hear it.

If they can be together, then Mentor can rest in peace.

Wait, that isn't right.

Young Master, what's wrong with it?

He's married to Dao Lie Xiang.

Although that woman has returned to Top Blade City

she's still the Deputy Master's wife.

Ru Ge is Madam of Flame Villa.

How can she share her husband with someone else?

This won't do. I must talk to Senior Feng.

Young Master.

You're more anxious than anyone.

It's so late.

You should talk to him tomorrow.

Look at how anxious I am.

All right, I'll talk to him tomorrow.

Great!

Why have you come to see me?

Standing right here, I can sense that your skills have improved even more.

It's nothing.

Where's Bi'er?

I told her I needed to speak to you in private.

I told her to leave first.

I'm not worried about making the way back home.

You'll walk me home.

You're just like you were as a child.

So clingy.

I--

How am I clingy?

When you first came to Flame Villa

you wouldn't go to bed and you were afraid of the dark and thunder.

You made me keep you company.

Senior Feng, that was when I was two or three years old!

Why do you still remember that?

I sure do.

Your name is Jing Lei... (Meaning "terrifying thunder.")

but you're terrified of thunder.

Senior Feng!

Senior Feng.

Ying Yi is dead.

On the way back to Flame Villa, Ru Ge saw her body by the river.

She drowned.

Ru Ge couldn't draw attention to herself then

so she gave some money to an onlooker to have Ying Yi buried.

If she hadn't stayed to look after me

she would've escaped to some faraway place long ago.

She wouldn't have ended up like that.

You never know.

After all these troubles are resolved, how will you get along with Ru Ge?

Ru Ge and I...

It's all over.

My eyes may not work, but my mind does.

I'm afraid that you won't ever feel differently about Ru Ge, will you?

I know that Flame Villa is going through very trying times now.

However hard it might be, we have to go on living.

We must live life to the fullest.

If there's a happy occasion

it would be an inspiration to Flame Villa.

If you wish to marry Bi'er, I have no objections.

Senior Feng, why do you always dig me into a hole?

Bi'er is a lovely lady.

It's exactly because she's such a lovely girl

that if I can't give her the very best...

I shouldn't marry her.

I'm blind.

I'm not good enough for her.

If there's someone more suitable, I'll marry her off to him.

Of course, he must be a good man.

He has to be kind, and his martial arts skills--

Bi'er is too skilled for most people.

Forget it.

Your requirements are too demanding.

Senior Feng, she's so lovely.

This isn't demanding at all.

Who wants to marry me?

They'll have to defeat me first.

That's too difficult.

Or...

Or I have to be willing to go easy on him.

As for that...

That's a bit easier.

Young Master, you're wrong.

It's most difficult when it's a question of will.

Let's head home.

Senior Feng, I'm not done talking yet.

Young Master.

Die Yi used to tell me that you disliked practicing martial arts.

It seems that Die Yi was wrong.

Madam is so caught up in studying the essentials to inner force.

I'm not exactly caught up in it.

I'm just looking for inner forces that can heal injuries.

What did Die Yi tell you about me?

She said a lot.

Madam, if you're going to bed now, I'll tell you about it tomorrow.

Madam has gone to bed.

Deputy Master, is there an important matter to discuss?

You're dismissed.

Don't worry about me.

Yes.

Madam, you're awake?

Madam, after you went to bed last night

Deputy Master was here in our quarters.

When?

It was around midnight.

When did he leave?

I'm not sure.

He was gone by dawn.

Are you ready for it?

Young Master Xue, please teach me the essentials to all nine levels.

We don't have much time.

I need you to master it before the Pugilist Convention.

How long did it take Anye Luo to learn it?

Six months.

He's a rare martial arts talent.

After moving up the eighth level, he killed his own mentor.

Since then, he challenged all the best pugilists.

Lie Ming Jing couldn't even take on 10 of his stances.

Why do you think that I can defeat Anye Luo

in such a short period of time?

It's impossible.

You, Ge'er and I... I have a way to tackle him.

Don't think about anything else during this time.

Just focus on practicing the essentials of the inner force.
