[The Flame's Daughter]

[Episode 29]

Your Highness, the bulk of the Japanese army is captured.

Only a few leaders have gotten away, with only a few soldiers as well.

The naval forces have announced a military order.

Within 15 days, they will certainly search those islands inside out

and have those Japanese soldiers captured.

Good.

People on the coast can now welcome the New Year in peace.

Your Highness.

Your Highness, are you writing to His Majesty?

Once the war is over, we're hosting a joyous event at the royal manor.

Your Highness, you're finally going to marry Young Mistress!

I told Ru Ge that the day the Japanese are removed from our lands

is the day I'll marry her.

Congratulations, Your Highness!

However, I'm a prince after all.

I have to report this matter to my father first.

His Majesty already consented to this marriage so you needn't worry.

We'll have to start preparing immediately once we get back.

After all, I've never organized a wedding before.

You won't have to do it.

They will send someone from the palace for it.

I had totally forgotten about His Highness's position.

Die Yi...

Close the windows...

Sir?

Sir?

Sir?

Sir?

Sir?

Sir?

Sir, I've been looking for you for quite some time.

I thought that you...

I saw that you were sound asleep so I went for a walk.

I hunted some game back on the way.

I'm the young one, so I should be doing that.

Even so, I'm Yin Xue's mentor.

Hunting a few pigeons isn't a problem at all.

Definitely.

Lei Jing Hong should have arrived back at the headquarters by now, right?

He should have, yes.

I'm relieved now that he's safely back in Jiangnan.

The winter solstice is just around the corner.

I wonder if Senior Yu has received my letter.

What are you doing here?

I'm here to dress your wounds.

No, thank you.

I've never been served by a woman. I'm not used to it.

Let's hurry, now.

Please? I'm really not used to this. Get a servant to do it.

Come with me!

You... What is it?

You really don't have to do this!

Do you know how to do it? You...

Don't be too--

They were so vicious.

Weren't they?

My wounds are still like this even though it's been half a month.

Phoenix...

I heard from Branch Master Chen that

you went to beg Branch Master Du before he was killed?

Thank you.

Haven't you heard of the saying? "No words can express one's gratitude."

Ah, I won't say it, then.

- I'll be noting everything down. - What?

You should.

When will His Highness return?

His Highness boarded the battleship.

If everything goes as planned, he'll be back in three days.

Three days...

Can't he return sooner?

Is it possible to deliver a letter to him?

My pitiful Zhan Feng...

You went all the way to save your beloved.

Yet you ended up finding yourself tricked.

Are those tears or blood that is pouring out of your heart?

Sentimental people are always hurt by love.

Uncle...

I'm begging you.

I beg you not to hurt her.

That's impossible.

I promise...

I promise to track her down for you.

As long as you won't kill her.

No. She has to die.

Please don't--

Don't ever let me see you beg me again like this.

Act like a man.

Uncle, I'm begging you...

Take Young Master Feng away to get some rest.

Yes.

We lost Thunderclap Sect.

Lie Ru Ge's whereabouts are unknown.

How dare the both of you still come to see me?

Supreme Master.

I can find Lie Ru Ge.

Ji Jing Lei is trapped in Jiangnan.

There's only one person who Lie Ru Ge trusts left.

Yu Zi Han.

He's the only one who can protect her.

You're right.

I can have her killed, but...

You want to be the Master of Flame Villa.

If Supreme Master can consent to it...

I'm willing to remain loyal to you for life.

I shall serve you until the end of my life!

Did you also say that to Lie Ming Jing back then?

I don't need any loyalty.

That's what got Lie Ming Jing killed.

Go!

Kill Lie Ru Ge. Then Flame Villa is all yours.

Thank you, Supreme Master!

Is there anything else you wish to say, Third Lady?

Let me kill Lie Ru Ge.

Oh?

I can kill Lie Ru Ge.

I can guarantee that I will succeed.

Greetings, Young Master!

Branch Masters, there's no need for such formalities.

Young Master, please take your seat.

That's the seat for the Master, not me.

Young Master, do you still hold a grudge against us?

That's all behind us now. I don't mind.

Why don't we discuss today

about having Young Master take over as our Master?

Gentlemen.

Until I avenge my father, I won't succeed his position.

If you don't mind

I'll be discussing matters with you as your Young Master.

Yes, Young Master!

Young Master, we had treated you with that attitude at Master's funeral.

We were so blind.

We also did that out of our fear for Second Madam.

No, I mean that witch, Anye Jue.

I've already told you. That's all behind us now.

All right, we should get right down to business.

I only made it back alive this time

because Lie Ru Ge saved me at the risk of her life.

I know that my father bore a grudge against Lie Ming Jing.

But from this day forth

I'll regard Lie Ru Ge as my benefactor.

We must never go against Flame Villa again.

We must help each other to fight against Dark River Palace.

Young Master is right.

Let me know if you have any opinions.

We're all very grateful to her for helping Young Master.

However, Zhan Feng has called upon all pugilist sects

to attack all of our branches.

If we are to stop fighting back now

aren't we simply waiting to be annihilated?

I'm afraid if this goes on

we're bound to confront them in one terrible battle.

Don't worry.

Lie Ru Ge will take Flame Villa back.

Wasn't she traveling with you?

Why has she suddenly gone missing?

I'm not at liberty to discuss this in detail

but I know that Lie Ru Ge is very smart.

I believe it's just a matter of time before she takes back Flame Villa.

The point lies in the amount of time she will need.

Judging by how fast the pugilist sects are attacking us

we might not last three months.

We'll hide.

- Hide? - Hide?

Wouldn't we be mocked by everyone?

Exactly!

Let them mock us all they want!

We're on the waters. There's nothing they can do.

I'm just asking everyone to give Lie Ru Ge some time.

I wouldn't want to stain our hands

with blood of thousands of Flame Villa's disciples

by the time she takes it back.

All right, we'll do as you say.

I've fought alongside Master Lei for nearly half my life.

I'll now get to have a taste of what hiding three feet under feels like.

How is this hiding three feet under?

We're obviously hiding on water!

Lie Ru Ge, time is running out.

Young Master.

There's another matter that much more difficult.

Just speak your mind.

Anye Jue attacked Thunderclap Sect that night and escaped in a hurry.

However, she didn't take the blind man with her.

Who is it?

Ji Jing Lei.

He's blind?

Who is it?

Who is it?

I won't surrender! I won't--

It's me! It's Lei Jing Hong!

You...

Did you meet with Ru Ge?

I did. I escaped with Ru Ge.

Ru Ge!

Sit. Don't move.

She left the villa with you. But why isn't she here?

- She's gone into hiding. - Why would she be hiding?

Isn't it better to be here?

She's gone to meet up with Yu Zi Han.

She's right.

At the moment, only Senior Yu can help her.

Don't worry, Young Master Ji.

I'll find someone to treat your injuries.

But... your eyes--

Hey.

There's no need to beat around the bush. Would I not know it well enough already?

Anye Jue... destroyed my eyes.

Rest assured that I'll make her pay for what she did to you and me.

Right now, what worries me the most is Xun Yi.

She's all alone in Flame Villa.

It's too dangerous.

Housekeeper Xun Yi.

Housekeeper Xun Yi, where are you going?

I'm going to do some New Year's shopping.

Will you be needing to take some guards with you?

It's fine. They will deliver everything for a small fee.

In times of turmoil, it's best to keep a low profile.

Housekeeper Xun Yi, you're right.

Please go ahead.

Housekeeper Xun Yi, someone in a strange outfit told me

to pass on a message.

She'd like to meet you near the river at the bottom of the mountain.

Could it be Mother?

She hasn't contacted me all these years. Why would she suddenly come to see me?

Could it be...

she has heard about the changes here in Flame Villa?

Or that...

What if this is a trap?

If so, will I drag everyone down?

Miss Xun Yi.

Our Third Lady is waiting for you right ahead.

Are... you my mother?

Lei Jing Hong went searching for you.

Why didn't you reunite with him?

I serve under Flame Villa.

How can I reunite with him?

You're quite loyal.

Back then...

Why did you send me away to Flame Villa?

It was for this very day.

This day?

Today, I had someone pass on a message to you.

You knew that I belong to Dark River Palace

but you still came anyway.

Blood is thicker than water.

You're a pawn that I planted in Flame Villa

to deal with them at any time.

But I'm also your daughter.

Wouldn't you feel bad to use me like this?

Do one thing for me.

What is it?

Lure Lie Ru Ge out.

No, I won't help you.

I won't ever help you!

I have Ji Jing Lei with me.

You captured him.

It's no wonder...

It's no wonder that I haven't heard from him lately.

Only if you accomplish this task can you reunite with him.

If not...

he will have to die.

Mother...

I'll contact you again.

I'll contact you again.

[Beloved wife, Die Yi's memorial tablet]

Die Yi... I'm sorry.

I'm leaving.

Miss Xun Yi.

I miss Die Yi.

I came to take a look at her.

She's happy that you could come to chat with her.

Mister Zhongli, have you considered leaving Flame Villa?

Leave?

Weren't you leaving when they robbed you of your position?

But Die Yi convinced you to stay.

But now, Die Yi...

You can take her away with you.

Indeed. I was so disappointed then.

Die Yi was the one who made me stay.

However...

I believe all the more now that Die Yi would rather stay here

to wait for her Young Mistress to come home.

Perhaps...

Young Mistress might never return.

No, she's the Madam of Flame Villa.

She won't ever leave us behind.

Well...

I'll take my leave.

Your Highness, come back soon.

Youqin Hong greets Your Highness.

I have news from Young Mistress.

- We'll talk inside. - Yes.

See you at Mount Mang on the winter solstice.

Ru Ge.

Where is Ru Ge now?

Your Highness, as Young Mistress wrote in her letter

she planned her escape and is now on her way to Mount Mang.

She should be arriving soon.

Xuan Huang.

Present!

You and Chi Zhang will stay behind at camp.

I have to go to Mount Mang.

Your Highness, you mustn't!

Ever since I started serving at the royal manor, I've never left your side.

It's exactly because you've never left my side that I want you to stay

to keep the army stable.

Now, the general situation is unlikely to change

since the leader of the Japanese army will soon be captured.

However, army morale must remain steady.

- You have to stay. - Your Highness!

You can leave this to Chi Zhang.

Let me take an armed troop to fetch Young Mistress back.

However unscrupulous those pugilists might be

they won't dare to offend the Imperial Court.

No, I have to go personally so I may keep my promise to my mentor

and live up to her trust in me.

- Your Highness! - Enough.

Pick out 10 some men to go with me to Mount Mang

but no more than that.

The more of us there are, the easier it will be to spot our tracks.

Yes!

What is this?

Look, this says...

On the 15th of this month, see you on Mount Yi.

Where is Mount Yi?

Excuse me, please let me through.

Look at this.

Isn't that a drawing of a woman's accessory?

Is it posted here for a woman?

Mount Yi?

Sir, what is it? I haven't read it clearly.

That is a trap.

Sir, if this is a trap

Xun Yi would never have allowed these to show up in the Pugilist World.

What if this is a trap that Yi Lang has set up for you?

Be it Yi Lang or Anye Jue, it's the same, isn't it?

They're both related to Dark River Palace, aren't they?

Give me a moment. I'll take another look.

Why did she tear it off?

- Who is she? - I don't know.

Yes, this is Xun Yi's jade pendant.

She's always had it on her.

It was from her late mother.

She had it sewn onto her undergarment.

Apart from me and Die Yi, no one else has seen it.

I was too playful when I was a child and made her fall over.

This jade pendant broke once.

Sir, take a look!

Even the cracks are the same.

This really is Xun Yi's.

If Anye Jue hasn't abducted her

it's impossible that anyone else saw this jade pendant.

Have you forgotten why you are meeting up with Yu Zi Han?

Sir...

Your life or a maid's life, which is more important?

She's not just some maid.

She's like a sister who grew up with me and stayed by my side.

She's my family, just as Die Yi was.

I failed to protect Die Yi.

I can't let Xun Yi...

If you get killed, Flame Villa will fall into the hands of Dark River Palace.

By then, Thunderclap Sect will be all alone and helpless.

For the sake of just one person, you would sacrifice the lives of thousands.

How can that be right?

We just need three days.

In three days, we can be on Mount Mang.

Did you hear what I just said?

Sir, please listen.

Mount Yi and Mount Mang are only half a day's journey apart.

I only need half a day.

Once I rescue Xun Yi, I'll surely make it in time to meet up with Senior Yu.

You're not to go. Do you hear me?

I'm sorry. I have to be there.

Yin Xue sacrificed his life for you.

Do you remember that?

But you don't even cherish your own life.

Is this how you repay him?

I've sacrificed a lifetime of my powers for your sake.

Do you also remember that?

I'm sorry, Sir.

As for Yu Zi Han...

he's now rushing all the way to Mount Mang for you.

As long as you're delayed, even if it's just for half a day

you'd put him in more danger for just waiting half a day longer!

Have you not considered that as well?

I've already said so much.

Doesn't this matter more than Xun Yi?

Go and find some food.

I'm hungry.

Sir, have you ever had grilled fish?

When I was young, I used to travel the world.

Isn't it said that the disciples of the Misty Deity Lineage

are otherworldly beings?

We aren't exactly otherworldly.

It's just that...

we have to let go of worldly desires and yearnings.

Let go of worldly desires and yearnings?

Sir, you mean to say...

I have heard that...

you're engaged to Prince Jingyuan.

Yes.

It was just a trick in the first place.

But later...

my father was probably worried that he would be harmed

so before Senior went to fight off the Japanese

my father entrusted me to him.

After the both of you meet up, will you be getting married?

Actually--

Congratulations.

The journey to Mount Mang will only take three days.

Sir, please keep these silver taels for travel expenses.

You must stay cautious along the way.

Xun Yi and I are like sisters. I must save her.

Farewell, Lie Ru Ge.

Zi Han wrote to ask for an official wedding.

Congratulations, Father.

It's been your wish for years and now it's finally coming true.

The victory on the coast is one joyous piece of news.

Zi Han's wedding is another!

Two blessings at the same time.

It's just that I haven't thought of what to give him as a present.

Father, you have already given him anything you could possibly give.

I think that it would be better to bestow the gifts

to the future Princess Consort Jingyuan.

You have a point.

Apart from Father, Second Brother and I will surely also prepare presents

for such an important occasion.

I had thought that the Eastern Sea was a dead end.

Who knew that it would turn into that cripple's award-winning platform!

Neither the Japanese nor Dark River Palace are reliable.

A few days ago, didn't I hear that

Lie Ru Ge fell out with Zhan Feng and left Flame Villa?

How could Yu Zi Han not be informed of such a matter?

That's impossible.

We're already aware of it, so how could Prince Jingyuan not know?

That is really strange...

This is such a serious matter.

He didn't rush off to tackle it but wrote to ask for a wedding?

It all happened during these past 10 or so days.

Perhaps, Prince Jingyuan sent in his report much earlier

and His Majesty only discussed it with both princes today

after he received the news of victory.

Is there anything unusual in the camp at Eastern Sea?

It's just news of victory, one after another.

What about Yu Zi Han?

Since he got back from the ride on the battleship, he has been ill.

He hasn't shown up at the military camp since then

nor did he meet any of the soldiers or local officials.

He didn't show himself.

What about Xuan Huang and Chi Zhang?

They are both in the military camp.

What about his personal army?

They are there as well.

However, about 10 of them were deployed.

Where to?

Mount Mang.

There's no Japanese nor bandits in that area.

Why would he deploy 10 some of his men there?

Here's our opportunity.

Your Highness, you mean...

I bet that my seventh brother must have left the camp for Mount Mang.

Your Highness, how did you figure that out?

Simply judging by his affection for Lie Ru Ge, I must be right!

Quickly.

At whatever the cost, catch up with Yu Zi Han and his guards.

Then kill him.

His three major bodyguards aren't by his side.

Such an opportunity only comes once in a lifetime!

Yes.

It's a huge embarrassment for Flame Villa this time.

Their Madam actually went missing for half a month

and even after sending all their disciples to search for her

they still can't find her.

I wonder how much Yi Lang would pay us if we find Lie Ru Ge.

If even Yi Lang can't find her, how can you be so confident you would?

He's just an idiot.

She's just a woman.

Do you think she escaped to Heaven?

Perhaps, Lie Ru Ge is in disguise.

That's why they can't find her.

She's in disguise?

We work in administrative offices.

There are many thieves and bandits who go in disguise.

But there's always something they can't hide.

Their body's build or the way they walk.

The way they breathe or the places they want to go.

Their usual habits.

These are all clues to seeing through a disguise.

How can we possibly observe everyone so closely in this huge world?

That's why the key lies in where Lie Ru Ge wants to go.

Once we have a direction, it will all become a lot easier.

It seems that Yi Lang has an idea.

At first, they were looking for Lie Ru Ge in all 12 provinces.

However, in these past few days, they narrowed it down to this area.

Darn it.

Yi Lang finally got it right.

Yi Lang made his intentions quite clear.

He actually started hunting down the Madam of his own sect.

He's not even bothering to act like a hypocrite.

What has he got to worry about?

If he doesn't use this chance to kill Lie Ru Ge

he won't get another one.

Never again.

Why does he think that Lie Ru Ge will surely come here?

I heard that

one of Lie Ru Ge's maids was abducted by Dark River Palace.

Will Lie Ru Ge come to save her?

There are about 300 maids in Flame Villa.

Lie Ru Ge is the Madam and they expect her to save a maid?

They must be joking.

Hey, there's a rumor that Yu Zi Han was seen in this area.

Yu Zi Han?

What has Yu Zi Han got to do with Lie Ru Ge?

It's been said that Lie Ru Ge has an affair with her senior, Yu Zi Han.

Zhan Feng annulled their engagement because of Yu Zi Han.

This time, Yu Zi Han is getting together with his junior again.

What would Zhan Feng think about it?

Stop saying such nonsense here!

- Mind your mouth. - What did you say?

If you say such nonsense again, you'll get killed!

Who are you?

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

We're at fault. We're sorry.

- Get lost! - Yes!

Let's go!

Your Highness, have some food.

Your Highness, you should at least take a bite.

We've been traveling for days and I'm worried that you can't stand it.

You said that these posters can be seen in the towns near here.

Yes, Your Highness.

Have you found out who posted them?

There aren't any clues.

Your Highness, do you think that something is amiss?

How far is it from here to Mount Yi?

Could we get there before the 15th?

Your Highness, aren't we supposed to wait here for Young Mistress?

No, I have to fetch her.

She has to go past Mount Yi to get here.

We'll wait for her at Mount Yi.

Mount Yi?

Yes.

This poster is meant to lure someone out.

And the entire Pugilist World is now out searching for Ru Ge.

The sooner I get to see her, the sooner I can be at ease.

But we're now three days away from Mount Yi.

We'll keep riding at night.

We must get there in two days.

Leave five men behind and the rest will come with me.

Your Highness, there aren't many of us.

It'll be even more dangerous if we split up into two teams.

Go do this now.

Yes.
