[The Flame's Daughter]

[Episode 23]

Listen up!

Do you think that I know nothing?

You must have said something to trick Senior Feng!

That's why he defied Mentor's last wish and disregarded our brotherhood.

Step aside--

Young Master Ji, it seems that you really need to calm down.

Zhongli Wulei!

I know that you're upset.

But are you really going to leave, just like that?

Zhongli Wulei, are you a man?

Here you are, playing a tune and feeling all melancholic.

If you still won't talk...

I'll tell Young Mistress that you've abandoned me!

By then, not only will you lose your position as a hall master

but also your head!

Miss Die Yi.

Where are you going?

I haven't thought about it.

You're really giving up on me?

You've been flirting all this time with me.

Do you mean to say that you don't like me?

Do you? Tell me!

Tell me!

Do you like me or not?

I--

Forget it.

I won't make you say it.

If you do care about me, come back with me.

Although Zhan Feng removed you from your position

your subordinates have been with you for years and are loyal to you.

If you remain here in the villa, you can surely help Young Mistress.

If you help Young Mistress, it's as good as helping me.

Please?

All right.

Let's go.

Even if I head back now, Yi Lang has taken over Azure Dragon Hall.

I have nowhere to stay.

Who says that you have nowhere to stay?

Come to the Plum Quarters.

The Plum Quarters?

How could I? There are only girls there.

I'm thinking about cooking in the Plum Quarters.

You can make a fire for me.

I'll be in charge of cooking.

You've burned so many things at Azure Dragon Hall.

You must be better at making a fire than anyone else.

What is it? You don't want to? Are you unhappy?

I'm not.

I wouldn't dare.

I accept, Miss.

Young Master!

Who hurt you?

It was that scoundrel Yi Lang.

We'll talk inside.

I'm all right.

Young Master, do you still need to leave the quarters today?

Senior Feng said not to let me participate in any meetings.

Why should I leave the quarters?

I'll have the maids close the quarters off.

We won't let anyone near here.

Why?

I need to heal your injury.

You don't have to be so nervous. I took a blow to the chest, but I'm fine.

Young Master.

Here.

Your injury is a little complicated.

Young Master had a conflict with Head Housekeeper Yi today.

He's not in a good mood.

Shut all doors to the quarters.

We'll prevent anyone from annoying Young Master again.

Yes.

Is Housekeeper Yi much more advanced in martial arts than you?

No.

His skill is way below mine.

But now, he's far more advanced than you.

How could he possibly improved so much in such a short period of time?

He must have been mentored by a skilled pugilist.

You're now the only person in the villa who can support Young Mistress.

No one must find out that you've been wounded.

Otherwise...

They will have another excuse to undermine your authority.

I understand.

I'll have your heart protected first.

You'll have to nurse your injury for half a month.

During this time, you mustn't fight with anyone.

Remain in the room to recuperate unless you absolutely need to go out.

You must avoid giving Head Housekeeper Yi another chance to pick on you.

She's been taking medicine for days. Why hasn't she gotten any better?

Master Lie's death is a huge blow to Young Mistress.

While Young Mistress has been ill

Deputy Master has already seized Azure Dragon Hall.

Who else in Flame Villa will be able to help her?

Stay here and keep watch. I have to go out for a bit.

Housekeeper Xun Yi.

Young Master has given orders that today, no one is allowed in.

Including me?

Young Master didn't specify.

Has something bad happened?

The Pine Quarters haven't ever been closed to visitors before now.

It's said that Young Master Ji had a conflict with Head Housekeeper.

- They even fought. - They fought? Did anyone get hurt?

Housekeeper Xun Yi.

Is your Young Master asleep?

Xun Yi! Come in.

- Xun Yi. - Are you all right?

You really are hurt.

Yi Lang is despicable. He tricked me.

I was fooled and got hurt. I can only bear with it at this point.

You have to remind Ru Ge to be wary of him!

He used to be no match for you.

How could he have hurt you so badly this time?

I'm not sure either.

Bi'er, was it you who treated Young Master Ji's injury?

Yes.

I didn't know you were so highly skilled.

Master Lie mentored me personally.

That's why I'm more skilled than most of the maids.

Where did you serve before you came to the Pine Quarters?

- Outside the villa. - Outside the villa?

Don't doubt Bi'er. Mentor assigned her to me himself.

You're here in the middle of the night. Is Ru Ge in trouble?

Since Young Mistress left the funeral hall that day

she's been ill.

- What did the doctor say? - He couldn't really tell much.

He only said that it's a feverish cold and wrote a prescription.

We've been decocting the medication.

Young Mistress is trained in martial arts so she should be fine.

- It's just that... - Xun Yi, you can be frank with me.

It's just that I'm afraid by the time Young Mistress wakes up

everything at Flame Villa will be different.

Jing Lei...

You won't betray Young Mistress, right?

Don't you worry about that.

Mentor raised an orphan like me since I was a child.

I will surely... fulfill his last wish.

What should I do now?

Don't do anything.

We already lost Azure Dragon Hall.

If this continues, aren't we simply handing over the villa to Zhan Feng?

I feel as if this is... one scheme after another.

This was all planned out. We're now at a disadvantage.

It's best for us to wait until they've run out of tricks

before we plan our next move.

Young Mistress, everyone in the villa has said that

you'll soon become the master's wife.

Does that make you happy?

Not exactly. Since you married into the Maple Quarters

you haven't shared a room with Young Master Feng yet.

It seems as if it's not our concern whether he gets to be Master or not.

It can't get any better or worse.

How is Lie Ru Ge doing?

I heard that she's been ill since she paid her respects to Master Lie.

No outsiders are allowed to enter the Plum Quarters either.

I've asked around.

The doctor said that she's in a coma.

- Young Master. - What's wrong?

You fought with Head Housekeeper Yi yesterday.

Deputy Master has now grounded all personnel in the Pine Quarters.

Without his written permission, none of us are allowed out of the quarters.

Senior Feng has me under house arrest?

Senior Feng!

You had Ji Jing Lei grounded?

Yes.

Have you gone soft?

You made it seem like he's under house arrest

but you're secretly protecting him.

Zhan Feng, if you're so indecisive

you'll only create more obstacles and enemies for yourself.

I haven't gone soft on him.

I have never wanted to hurt him.

Fine.

If you can't bear to do it...

I'll help you.

Remember what I'm saying now.

You're not to lay a finger on anyone in the Plum and Pine Quarters.

I will be Master.

I'll also protect everyone in those two quarters.

You should be fine after taking a few more doses.

- Thank you. - Get the medicine with the doctor.

- Yes, Housekeeper. - I take my leave.

I haven't been so ill for such a long time.

The last time was when I was seven years old.

Young Mistress, how can you smile? You made us so worried!

What's there to worry about? A fever can't kill me.

Young Mistress, Deputy Master Feng has seized Azure Dragon Hall.

He seized it?

Here's what happened.

Hall Master Zhongli refused to attend the morning meetings.

Deputy Master removed him from his position based on insubordination.

What's it like now?

Yi Lang is taking his place.

Where is Hall Master Zhongli?

He was going to leave but I've brought him back.

He's now chopping firewood and cooking in our quarters.

Take me to him.

Young Mistress, I'll tell him to come to you.

You're still so frail.

Don't worry.

My bones have all gone soft from sleeping so much. Let's go.

Deputy Master.

I heard that you've been ill for days. Are you better now?

Deputy Master, you need not be concerned.

Madam, your health matters greatly to the whole of Flame Villa.

As Deputy Master, how can I not be concerned?

Young Mistress, you just woke up so you shouldn't strain yourself.

Yes, Young Mistress. Refrain from getting angry.

We'll just take a stroll through the quarters and then return to your room.

Deputy Master, take care!

Madam.

Madam.

Hall Master Zhongli, please sit.

I heard that you're staying in the Plum Quarters for now

so I've come to visit you.

How are you adapting to the Plum Quarters?

I'm sorry for your predicament.

It isn't bad at all.

I just feel that I've let Master Lie down for losing my position as Hall Master.

Madam, what do you intend to do next?

Could I be of any help?

My father once told me

you're very well read and you're skilled in medicine.

I can't say that I'm skilled.

I know a thing or two.

Could you write me a prescription to delay my recovery?

Madam, this is...

We're now at a disadvantage and we hold no authority.

Nor do we have any confidant in the villa.

We can only act weak first and observe what they plan to do.

We need to find their weakness in order to stage our counterattack.

You still have to act sick?

This is so frustrating.

It is known that the King of Yue endured hardship to seek revenge.

All I'm having is some bitter medication.

How bad can that be?

- Your Highness. - Your Highness.

There's news from Flame Villa.

Speak.

Since Master Lie passed away

there have been various branch masters who went over to discuss matters.

Head Housekeeper Yi who has always held much authority

actually treats Zhan Feng with much respect.

He severely punishes those who are displeased with Zhan Feng.

Therefore, in a very short period of time

the villa has changed to the point of not daring to complain about Zhan Feng.

Young Mistress Lie has become unwell since she returned to the villa.

Therefore... she hasn't looked into anything yet.

Ru Ge is ill?

- Continue. - Yes.

Although Zhan Feng is usually distant and acts on his whims

it's without question that he's very effective.

Flame Villa's influence and social status in the Pugilist Alliance...

It's even more powerful than it once was when Master Lie was alive.

They don't even know who the villa's master is.

It is now confirmed that the explosives found in the training chamber

were exclusively produced by Jiangnan Thunderclap Sect.

This is...

Lei Jing Hong.

That scoundrel is even more ruthless than his father.

Hold on, Ling.

How did they even get into Flame Villa

and plant explosives in Master Lie's training chamber?

This is the issue that Deputy Master wishes to discuss with the both of you.

Is there more to this than meets the eye?

Yi Lang! Tell us now. Don't beat around the bush!

Yes.

Do you all remember that on Deputy Master's wedding day

when Madam and Young Master Yu returned to the villa

they brought someone here with them?

That was Thunderclap Sect's Young Master, Lei Jing Hong!

This is...

How is that possible?

How can that be?

When Deputy Master got married

Thunderclap Sect offended the Imperial Court and was investigated.

May I ask that, as the Seventh Prince

why would Young Master Yu bring a wanted criminal back to the villa?

You are not to conjecture on Young Master Yu.

I remember that soon after the wedding, Thunderclap Sect was pardoned.

Perhaps, Young Master Yu already knew that Lei Jing Hong was innocent.

I don't care about the grudges between Lei Jing Hong and the Imperial Court

but it is a fact that he was in the villa during that time

and that was his opportunity!

What about his motive?

His motive?

Have him captured and you can ask him yourself.

I object to such a reckless action!

Thunderclap Sect is not some minor pugilist gang.

If we capture their Young Master

it's sure to stir up bloodshed in the Pugilist World!

We already found the evidence and figured out when they planted the explosives

so it's only right that we make them give us an explanation!

I don't see how this is inappropriate!

Ling, you mustn't act so rashly!

Two months ago, Thunderclap Sect expelled some of their branch masters.

Get Azure Dragon Hall to bring them here for questioning.

Yes.

The Pugilist World is in turmoil and Master Lie just passed away.

All pugilist sects have their eyes on Flame Villa.

I agree with Hall Master Murong.

We should act with more caution.

This is...

We'll wait to hear from Azure Dragon Hall before we take any next steps.

Yes, Deputy Master!

Thank you.

Your Highness, you should get some rest.

Have you received a reply from Flame Villa?

No. I've been waiting to hear from them but we haven't gotten a reply.

Get ready.

I'm returning to Flame Villa.

Your Highness.

There are spies here in the army.

If they discover that you've left the military camp

they will surely secretly report you to the capital.

Your Highness, please reconsider.

The Japanese just suffered a defeat. They are hiding on an island nearby.

It will be difficult for them to attack us again soon.

It's the right time for me to head back.

- But-- - Go and get ready.

Yes.

Don't worry.

I just want to go and take a look at Ru Ge.

Young Master Feng.

- She's not in the Plum Quarters? - She's in the Bamboo Quarters.

How is she doing?

Her condition is still unstable.

She hasn't recovered yet.

Get Yi Lang to hire another doctor.

Thank you, Deputy Master.

I have to take this cloak to Young Mistress. I should get going.

Hold on.

Hand me the cloak.

Young Mistress, Young Master Feng is here.

Young Mistress, why don't we head back?

It's too cold in here. It's too harsh on your health.

It's so boring to stay in the Plum Quarters all the time.

I know this used to be Master Lie's favorite spot.

But...

- Young Mistress-- - Die Yi, leave me alone for a while.

I can't, Young Mistress. It's too harsh on your health.

Please, Die Yi. Let me stay here alone for a while.

Young Mistress, why don't we head back?

Young Mistress--

Deputy Master.

It's windy here. Wear your cloak.

- Leave us. - Yes.

What is it?

It's already been verified that the detonator...

found outside Mentor's training chamber belonged to Jiangnan Thunderclap Sect.

You suspect that it was Thunderclap Sect.

I don't suspect them.

I have the evidence to prove it was them.

It can't be Thunderclap Sect.

I know that you're close friends with Lei Jing Hong.

I'll investigate into Mentor's death. It's best for you not to get involved.

Do you really think that Thunderclap Sect did it?

Do you suspect me?

You're ill. Cold tea is bad for your health.

It's fine.

Thank you for your concern.

It's all right.

Why would I suspect you?

How could I possibly suspect you of murdering my father?

If you think that Jiangnan Thunderclap Sect did it

how are you going to handle this?

I'll wipe them out once and for all.

All right.

Remember this.

I won't spare the person who killed my father.

No matter how well acquainted we might be.

If you have nothing else to say, you can leave first.

I'd like to spend some time alone.

The medication prescribed by the doctor...

Remember to take it regularly.

Young Mistress. What did Zhan Feng say?

He said that the explosives in the training chamber

were made by Thunderclap Sect.

He said that Thunderclap Sect killed Master Lie?

Let's not discuss this here.

Young Mistress, let's head back to the Plum Quarters.

Some time ago, some branch masters were indeed expelled from Thunderclap Sect.

It was all for fund misappropriation. None of them are any good.

What truth can a few expelled sect members possibly tell us?

Thunderclap Sect has now been split up.

On one side, it's Anye Jue. On the other, Lei Jing Hong.

They will surely try to put all the blame on Lei Jing Hong.

This is what makes Zhan Feng so despicable.

He's bringing in expelled members as witnesses.

Their statements will surely put Lei Jing Hong at a disadvantage.

Judging from what you know of Azure Dragon Hall

how long will it take them to locate those men?

Three days.

It only takes three days to find them in the huge Pugilist World?

Azure Dragon Hall is capable of doing so.

Planting evidence and framing him for it...

Is it the same old trick?

Take a look.

Do you know what these are?

Although I've left Thunderclap Sect, I once was indebted to Master Lei.

Whatever you might ask me, I won't say a word.

You're so stubborn.

That's fine.

Bring them in!

You're not the only one who left Thunderclap Sect.

You're also not the only one who recognizes these gadgets.

Branch masters, since you were both expelled from Thunderclap Sect

you couldn't make a living.

It's all right. Lift your head up.

Take a good look at it. What is this?

As long as you can tell me about these gadgets

there are 500 silver taels right here.

Take them.

You mustn't.

I... I know!

Those are Qilin Bombs. It belongs to Thunderclap Sect.

- Are you certain? - I've... I've seen those as well.

Branch Master Feng made only nine of those.

We've both seen those before.

This is...

- Leave. - Thank you, Head Housekeeper Yi.

This...

Branch Master Feng...

I'd advise you to tell the truth.

This concerns the death of our deceased Master!

This...

Is this related to Master Lie's death?

Deputy Master!

I really have nothing to do with this matter!

I'm only in charge of making these explosives!

But after they were made...

I handed them over to Master Lei!

Deputy Master, I really have nothing to do with it!

Please spare me! Please spare me!

Just tell us what you know.

Tell you...

What am I to tell you?

- Madam! - Madam!

Madam.

I heard that you've captured a witness.

I came over here to ask him a few questions.

Are you Feng Bai Ju?

Yes, I am.

You're the branch master who specializes in making explosives.

Yes.

A few months ago, you were expelled from Thunderclap Sect.

Yes.

Why?

It's because of very trivial--

You covet wealth and you're greedy for money, right?

Am I right?

No...

Yes.

Gentlemen.

Can you trust the words of a man who was expelled from his own sect?

Not to mention that he was expelled for also colluding with Dark River Palace.

Would you really dare to believe what he says?

When did you...

make these explosives?

Last year.

Why did you make them?

I wanted to assist Master Lei to become Head of the Pugilist Alliance.

What did you say?

Anyway, since it has come this far, I might as well say it.

Honestly, these were made to attack you.

Who knew that Thunderclap Sect had wanted to replace Flame Villa?

How despicable.

If you want to replace us, you should take us head on.

What hero are you for acting so shamelessly?

This is very obvious.

You said that you handed the explosives over to Lei Hen Tian.

Yes.

And...

Who else?

Young Master Lei.

You're referring to Lei Jing Hong?

Yes.

Madam.

What else would you like to ask?

Nothing else for now.

Since Madam has no other questions

I'll have Lei Jing Hong hunted down in both our names.

All right.

They're hunting Lei Jing Hong down?

Zhan Feng actually framed Thunderclap Sect for it?

Young Mistress, how do you know that it's a set up?

They have both the evidence and witnesses.

What's the use in having those?

It was the same for Thunderbreak Manor's case.

Keep up!

He's the one who killed Master Lie of Flame Villa?

It's him.

Thunderclap Sect has quite the nerve!

Seriously.

- Is it him? - Go and take a look.

- Yes. - How could it be?

- He's a murderer. - That's right.

Look at this. Seriously.

Who would have known?

Put Thunderclap Sect in order?

Young Master Lei of Thunderclap Sect murdered the Master of Flame Villa

Lie Ming Jing with unique explosives.

Flame Villa requests all other pugilist sects to put Thunderclap Sect in order.

Should any pugilist sects continue to stay on good terms with them

they will be considered enemies of Flame Villa.

Zhan Feng said that Thunderclap Sect has powerful explosives.

They are a threat to the alliance.

The truth is that he's wiping out his opponents to build his prestige.

Let's make haste to the villa.

- Yes! - Yes!

Very fresh! Come and have a look!

Come and have a look!

Deputy Master Zhan.

Top Blade City will also assign 300 elite disciples to you.

We won't stop until we wipe out Thunderclap Sect.

Thank you, Castellan Dao.

With both of our forces together

I believe no one in the Pugilist Alliance will dare to defend Thunderclap Sect.

Not to mention the existing relationship between both of our sects.

Deputy Master Zhan is also my brother-in-law.

You need not thank me. I'm just doing what I should do.

Young Mistress, take a break. You've been reading these all day.

I've been reading all day but not much has gone into my head.

I can tell.

Lei Jing Hong is Thunderclap Sect's last hope.

If Lei Jing Hong encounters any mishap...

I'm worried that Thunderclap Sect will fall into the hands of Dark River Palace.

Young Mistress, have you never suspected it?

Suspected what?

What if Lei Jing Hong really is the culprit?

He can't be.

All right, if you believe in him, then so will I.

Isn't Young Master Yu fighting against the Japanese?

Master Lie was killed, so he has to come and pay a visit.

Young Mistress!

What is it? Why are you in such a hurry?

Young Master Yu has returned.

Senior Yu.

Why have you come home?

I'm sorry. I should have returned sooner.

Is your cold getting better?

Are you still coughing badly?

Have you had to suffer any grievances?

What hurts me the most is...

I didn't get to see my father.

All I saw was an urn of cremated ashes.
