[The Flame's Daughter]

[Episode 22]

[Anye Ming's memorial tablet, Zhan Fei Tian's memorial tablet]

You said you'd return tomorrow.

How come you're home today?

Have a seat.

Why are you so quiet?

My parents...

How did they die?

They committed suicide.

Lie Ming Jing!

You refuse to tell me the truth, even tonight?

Tonight?

What's special about tonight?

You deployed Azure Dragon Hall's elites back to Flame Villa.

They only obey orders from the master of the villa.

What do you intend to do?

I want you to correct your ways.

Leave Anye Luo.

So you knew about it all along?

He's my maternal uncle!

But I'm your--

Mentor!

I raised you.

I taught you martial arts.

Did you never think that you could trust me?

My mother had just given birth to me.

What exactly could have happened

to make my father give up a great career...

abandon his wife and young son, and take his own life?

What do I have to do...

What do I have to do to make you believe me?

I want you to give me a reason.

Why don't you trust me, when Ge'er does?

That's because Ru Ge is naive!

Whatever doubts she may have...

she'd choose to not see or think about it.

Because...

you're her father.

I must get to the bottom of this matter today.

I want you to tell me the truth!

You want to kill me?

I've raised you for 19 years.

I've protected you for 19 years.

I wanted to make you my successor!

I wanted Ge'er to marry you!

Yet today--

You want to kill me.

Do you?

Fei Tian, do you see this?

Zhan Feng wants to kill me!

Rat!

Mentor!

Mentor!

Leave... Anye Luo...

I don't want...

I don't want you to... regret.

I...

Mentor?

Mentor...

Mentor!

Young Master Feng!

Leave with me now!

Why did you kill Mentor?

If I hadn't killed him, we'd both die!

You've already come this far, you want to turn back now?

Leave now!

This is our best chance.

Leave with me right now!

Don't you forget.

He killed your father.

Leave now!

[Anye Ming's memorial tablet, Zhan Fei Tian's memorial tablet]

Young Master Feng!

Young Master Feng!

Leave now.

I'll take care of the rest. Young Master Feng!

Leave now!

Go!

Look over there.

What happened?

- Was there an explosion? - I don't know.

It sounded like one. It was loud.

- Bi'er, where did that sound come from? - Master Lie's training chamber!

Did you hear it? Was it an explosive?

I don't know either.

It sounded like one.

It can't be wrong.

That's the sound of an explosive.

Where's Zhan Feng?

He hasn't returned to his quarters tonight.

I'll go take a look.

Mentor!

Mentor!

Young Master Ji! You mustn't go in!

Mentor is still in there! I--

Young Master Ji!

Young Master Feng and I were talking in the front hall

when we heard the explosion, so we rushed here!

Don't panic.

Perhaps Master isn't in there.

He might not be in there!

That's impossible!

Mentor has always been in there lately!

- Mentor! - Young Master Ji!

It's still very dangerous in there!

There may be explosives that haven't gone off yet!

Mentor!

Mentor!

Mentor...

Mentor!

Your Highness, Young Mistress.

Flame Villa sent someone here.

Who is it?

It's Hall Master Zhongli.

Hall Master Zhongli?

He'd never leave Flame Villa unless something went wrong.

Invite him in, quickly.

Yes!

Your Highness.

Young Mistress...

Five days ago, between 9 and 11 p.m.

Master Lie passed away.

How could he, so suddenly?

Five days ago, there was a sudden explosion in the training chamber.

By the time everyone got there...

the training chamber had already been destroyed.

Ge'er...

Young Mistress!

Ge'er!

Ge'er, I'm right here.

Don't be scared.

Where's Hall Master Zhongli?

He's outside the tent.

I need to head home now.

Young Mistress!

Your Highness.

Are you going to let Young Mistress leave like this?

At such times, no one can hold her back.

Nor should we hold her back.

Send our men to protect them in secret.

Yes!

My daughter is obviously the most outstanding in the world.

Father, you can't ignore everyone's opinion

just because I'm your daughter.

You're my only child.

I want to leave the best of everything to you.

Your mind has wandered off.

You just want to be out traveling.

From now on, you should spend more time with me.

Being able to eat with you is such bliss.

All right?

Yes, Father!

Give me a smile!

Young Mistress!

Ru Ge, Hall Master Zhongli, you've finally made it back.

Hall Master Murong, how is it in the hall?

Young Master Feng is hosting the pugilists

who came to pay their respects.

All the branch masters have already returned to the villa

and are waiting for Young Mistress.

Here, get changed, we should go in quickly.

- Who would have known? - Exactly.

Life is so unpredictable.

Young Mistress is here.

Young Mistress.

Young Mistress.

Why is there only the memorial tablet?

Master's remains are in the white urn.

Why?

Master's corpse...

was burned to ashes in the explosion.

Who did this to him?

Has it been investigated?

That night, around nine o'clock

there was an explosion in Master's training chamber.

According to the investigation, a powerful explosive was triggered.

We have yet to find who was behind it.

Get to the bottom of it.

Yes, Young Mistress!

Father...

I've come home too late.

Father...

Young Mistress, before you returned to the villa

the hall masters discussed some matters.

Master announced that you would be his successor.

We wouldn't dare to defy his wishes.

However, Master passed away so abruptly.

Young Mistress, you're still too inexperienced.

We have discussed...

Head Housekeeper Yi.

Please do tell.

As the first disciple of Flame Villa

Zhan Feng is decisive and calm in handling matters.

Why don't we appoint him as Master for the time being

and reinstate you later?

He's right.

Ru Ge does require everyone's assistance now.

However, Senior Feng need not be the temporary Master.

Only if Zhan Feng acts as the temporary Master

can we handle matters with ease.

Young Mistress, I wonder what you think...

Ru Ge, we're not robbing you of your position as owner of the villa.

This is for the best interests of Flame Villa and the Pugilist Alliance.

Give it a thought. Flame Villa is the most influential sect.

In times of crisis, we should seek stability first.

Am I right?

Murong, don't just kneel there.

Say something.

Young Mistress.

- Why don't you-- - Since Ru Ge has returned

Senior Feng should assist her in managing the villa.

Only then can Master rest in peace.

This is a decision that all the branch masters of Flame Villa made.

Senior Ji, have you forgotten?

I objected to it during the discussion!

Young Master Ji was the only one who objected during the meeting.

You--

Senior Feng, are you going to defy

Mentor's last wish in front of all the pugilists?

Everyone.

I have a few words to say.

Master Lie, may I be so bold as to say a few words before your altar?

This is Flame Villa's personal matter.

But we also know that this concerns all of the Pugilist Alliance.

Therefore, at such times, I can't just play it safe

by keeping quiet.

Castellan Dao, do tell.

Everyone knows what Castellan Dao is like.

I believe that Flame Villa wouldn't mind it.

- Exactly. - Exactly.

That's right.

Young Mistress Lie.

With all due respect, may I ask how much you know

about all the branch masters of Flame Villa?

How much do you know about each pugilist sect?

How many pugilist sects have you visited?

How well do you know the chiefs of various sects?

This is...

I believe you're well aware that such times

aren't the best times for you to inherit the villa.

Certainly, I'm not questioning Master Lie's decision.

He must've planned that within a few years

he'd train you to be a successor we'd respect.

It's such a pity.

These things always happen so unexpectedly.

Master Lie was killed.

If Master Lie was still alive

he'd have agreed to let Young Master Feng manage Flame Villa for the time being.

- Indeed. - That's good.

He's right.

Exactly. That makes sense.

He's right.

That's right.

That's reasonable.

Moreover, Young Mistress Lie, you'll soon become Princess Consort Jingyuan.

How much effort could you possibly put into managing Flame Villa?

This...

- Princess Consort Jingyuan? - Exactly.

Is that so?

- Exactly. - Indeed.

This seriously is...

- Who would have known? - Exactly.

Castellan Dao, thank you for your concern.

From this day forth

Zhan Feng will be appointed as Deputy Master of Flame Villa.

He holds authority over the villa.

Anyone there?

Escort Madam back to Plum Quarters.

Don't bother.

- This... - Young Mistress.

This is...

Who would have expected that?

Exactly.

Young Mistress.

Young Mistress, the discussion went on for so long.

Are you at a disadvantage?

It's all right.

There are too many people around.

We'll talk when we get back.

Senior Feng! Why did you defy Mentor's orders?

I didn't!

Who are you to treat me with such an attitude?

I'm Master Lie's disciple too.

I'm Flame Villa's Young Master Ji.

I have the right to inquire into Flame Villa's affairs too!

Didn't you say that you'd always support me?

Why did you oppose me so strongly just now?

I supported you when Mentor was alive

because I thought he was muddleheaded and had made the wrong decision.

I supported you then by openly asking Mentor to give you a chance.

Now that Mentor has passed away

as his disciple, I must comply with his last wish.

What if...

What if Mentor's last wish was a mistake?

If it's a mistake...

I can only resign to it.

How foolish!

Head back and think it over.

Who is the more qualified successor, Ru Ge or me?

Which of us will bring more good to the Pugilist World and Alliance?

Senior Feng!

If you become Master of Flame Villa, what will you do to Ru Ge?

I'll make sure that she is as carefree as she used to be.

She can still be the Young Mistress.

Who could have known that they would force

Young Mistress to make such a decision before Master's altar?

That's so insidious.

This is the perfect time for them.

All the heroes are present.

Dao Wu Xia is also there to back Zhan Feng up.

I used to think that Head Housekeeper Yi respected Master Lie the most.

Although I dislike him...

wasn't he always the most loyal to Master Lie?

You can't read a man's mind.

It's only in the end that you can really see someone for who they are.

Young Mistress, are you all right?

Why are you so warm?

Why didn't you tell us?

Young Mistress, where are you going, when you're sick?

Young Mistress--

Don't go after her.

Young Mistress is going to visit Master Lie.

We can't hold her back.

Father...

Why didn't you wait till I got home?

Father...

There's still some residue from the explosives here.

It's very dangerous.

Why were there explosives planted in the training chamber?

How could no one have discovered it?

Isn't the training chamber the most important place in the villa?

How could...

Head back to your quarters.

I'm not leaving.

My father hasn't left, so I can't leave.

I have to wait till my father comes home.

I'm not leaving!

My father hasn't left...

He must still be here...

Father...

Father...

Father...

- Young Mistress. - Didn't you take an umbrella?

Why are you soaking wet?

Deputy Master, please halt.

Look after her for me.

Yes.

Young Mistress, look at you!

You have a fever and yet you didn't use an umbrella!

Are you trying to kill yourself?

I want to see Hall Master Zhongli.

Now?

Right now.

Young Mistress must have her reasons for being so anxious.

Go fetch Hall Master Zhongli.

I'll get Young Mistress changed.

All right!

Young Mistress, my condolences.

Madam.

Hall Master Zhongli, after I left Flame Villa

did anything out of the ordinary happen?

Madam, after you left

Master Lie ordered me to deploy all elites of Azure Dragon Hall back.

Deploy all the elites of Azure Dragon Hall back to the villa in five days.

No one must know about this.

- Master, this-- - Don't ask.

Do as I say.

You must act fast.

Why?

Master Lie never explained in detail.

Has my father ever done anything like that in the past?

No.

Was anything else out of the norm?

The night you left the villa...

Deputy Master also went to Top Blade City with his wife.

I don't know if that was just as a coincidence.

After you and Deputy Master left

Master Lie had me deploy all the elites back to the villa.

What about Zhan Feng?

When did Zhan Feng return?

He returned on the day Master Lie was killed.

My head hurts.

You can head back first.

I'll ask for you another day.

Yes.

Young Mistress.

I'll help you to your bed to get some rest.

Look at you.

Lie Ming Jing is now dead.

Are you happy now that you're the Deputy Master?

Ru Ge is in such pain.

Is this what you wished for?

Flame Villa will soon be yours.

Are you really happy about that?

Deputy Master, please come out here.

Deputy Master!

- Deputy Master. - Deputy Master.

- Senior Feng. - Deputy Master.

Where's Hall Master Zhongli?

Deputy Master, Azure Dragon Hall never attends the morning meetings.

Unless upon Master's orders.

Head Housekeeper Yi.

Go bring him here now.

From this day forth

all branch masters must attend the morning meetings.

Azure Dragon Hall is no exception.

Yes.

Hall Master Zhongli probably won't get here anytime soon.

Why don't we start without him?

Exactly.

Let's get started, Deputy Master.

We'll wait for him.

This...

Zhongli Wulei.

Head Housekeeper Yi.

Deputy Master says that you must attend morning meetings at Jucui Hall.

I'm unwell.

I won't be attending it.

You're unwell?

You dare to defy Deputy Master's orders?

As for Azure Dragon Hall...

we only serve Master of the villa, not the Deputy Master.

Yi Lang, have you forgotten how we got to Flame Villa?

Greetings, Master!

Heroes have always been nurtured from a young age.

You don't have to be scared.

I'll teach you the best martial arts skills.

In the future, one of you will manage the entire household

as my head housekeeper

and the other will manage Azure Dragon Hall

to plant Flame Villa's informants all across the country.

Thank you, Master!

We only survived because... Master Lie adopted us into Flame Villa.

Of course I didn't forget it.

All these years, I've served by Godfather's side obediently.

I did everything he asked.

But what about you?

You're not like me.

You manage Azure Dragon Hall on your own.

The Pugilist World is in your hands.

If you still remember the trust Master Lie once had in you...

don't let him down with what he entrusted to you.

He refused to attend?

Yes.

This is..

Seriously...

Azure Dragon Hall serves as the eyes and ears of Flame Villa.

It's also the most well protected division.

I think Zhongli Wulei was cherished too much by Master Lie.

He has forgotten that he's just a hall master.

Deputy Master, you needn't get so angry.

You should know Zhongli Wulei well enough.

He's a scholar who only abides by the rules he acknowledges.

Although he's a bit stubborn, he's loyal to Flame Villa.

Yes, he's loyal to Flame Villa.

Exactly.

Oh?

He's loyal to Flame Villa?

Yet he isn't loyal to the Master and Deputy Master?

This is...

This...

Since my junior has given me the authority

I'm as good as Master of the villa.

Zhongli Wulei openly challenges the authority of the Master.

Yi Lang!

What are the consequences?

Those who defy the Master will be stripped of martial arts

and expelled from Flame Villa!

- This... - Senior Feng!

You mustn't!

Deputy Master, please calm down.

I'll go and persuade him later.

Exactly, Deputy Master.

Hall Master Zhongli was adopted by Master Lie.

He was like a son to him.

He can't face Master Lie's sudden death

so it's reasonable that he acted out of the norm.

Deputy Master, please spare him!

Deputy Master, please spare him!

This is my first meeting as the Deputy Master.

I just gave my first command.

Yet no one obeys me.

How am I to build up my prestige as Deputy Master?

This is...

Yi Lang.

Is there a less severe punishment?

Taking his past contributions into account

we can show him some mercy.

But he must render his resignation as Hall Master of Azure Dragon Hall.

- This... - What?

This is...

All right.

From this day forth

Azure Dragon Hall will be managed by Housekeeper Yi for the time being.

We'll select someone qualified for the position in the future.

This... this isn't right.

Exactly.

Hall Master Zhongli is so faithful.

[Azure Dragon Hall]

Head Housekeeper.

All staff deployment of Flame Villa's Azure Dragon Hall

the replacement frequencies, and hidden informants are in here.

All right, head back to your chores.

Yes!

Xun Yi! Xun Yi!

Bring this in to Young Mistress.

Where are you going?

I'm going to see Zhongli Wulei.

Didn't we tell you not to?

He's not a hall master now. What's there to mind?

I'll get going.

Where's your Hall Master?

Hall Master Zhongli--

Zhongli Wulei just left.

He left?

Yes.

From where? He left Flame Villa?

Probably.

After Head Housekeeper Yi came over, he packed his belongings and left.

Young Master Ji, don't make it hard for us!

Step aside!

Deputy Master gave orders that you're grieving the death of Master Lie

so it's best for you to not attend the meetings.

He won't let me attend the meetings?

It's so hectic in the villa but he won't let me attend the meetings?

What if something goes wrong?

Let me in!

Young Master Ji.

You make it sound so serious.

Deputy Master and I are there

along with both Hall Masters, as well as other branch masters

nothing will go wrong in the villa.

Listen up!

Do you think I don't know anything?

You must've said something to trick Senior Feng!

That's why he defied Mentor's last wish and overlooked our brotherhood.

Step aside!
