[The Flame's Daughter]

[Episode 8]

Why did you thrash their flat bread stall?

I was worried they'd hinder Wu Xia if they stayed here.

I--

You were trying to warn them to leave Ping An Town quickly?

Wu Xia, you've misunderstood me.

I watched you grow up.

How would I not know what you think?

What benefits did they offer you?

You'd even betray your own brother!

Wu Xia, Wu Hen, hear me out.

I just think that we shouldn't go up against Flame Villa now.

If Lie Ru Ge finds out that we collect--

That's enough!

Anyone in this world can harm you, but not your eldest brother!

You shouldn't be disloyal to me.

Say it again.

How did our father die?

Back then, Father dominated the Pugilist World.

It was Lie Ming Jing and his godbrother, Zhan Fei Tian.

They defeated Father together on the peak of Mount Tai

despite the pugilist rule of only fighting one on one.

That's how they founded Flame Villa.

It's because Father lost the title of the world's most prestigious family

that he died of depression.

Bear that in mind.

Remind yourself of it from time to time.

Go.

Lie Xiang has alerted our enemies now

so Thunderbreak Manor won't stay at bay anymore.

It's just Thunderbreak Manor.

What's there to worry about?

We've tried to avoid this confrontation for so long, but we can't anymore.

Xiao Feng, you should go to bed soon.

Grandfather...

Sister Ru Ge was so badly bullied.

Aren't we going to help them?

We won't have to.

Sister Dao is just trying to make Young Mistress leave Ping An sooner.

It will be fine once she leaves.

Don't worry.

Go to bed.

It's getting quite late.

Yes.

Go on.

Top Blade City will take action soon.

I think that it's still related to that matter.

You're referring to the collection of illegal taxes in the Pugilist World?

It's good timing then, huh?

Top Blade City not only collects illegal taxes in Ping An

but also in other areas.

The sooner Flame Villa learns of this, the better it is.

Answer me.

The intelligence network of Flame Villa's Azure Dragon Hall stretches across

the entire Pugilist World.

Why is Master Lie only kept in the dark about the collection of illegal taxes?

Could it be that someone is in the way and has kept it from Master Lie?

That's exactly what I fear most.

If Master Lie could be kept in the dark

this person must hold a high and mighty position in Flame Villa.

If that's really the case, if we expose Top Blade City's deeds

we'd only be putting ourselves in a greater danger.

Father-in-law, it's best for us to leave this place soon.

We should stay away from Ping An and Top Blade City.

We mustn't!

Don't say another word!

The people here can't do without us!

Father-in-law, you also have to consider Xiao Feng and me.

And everyone in Thunderbreak Manor.

Enough said!

- What's wrong? - Leave now!

- Father-in-law-- - Leave!

Deputy Master.

Why were they arguing?

I've never seen Master throw such a huge tantrum.

- Young Master. - Young Master.

We might get ambushed tonight.

All of you must stay alert.

Go!

- Yes! - Yes!

[Xue's Flat Bread Stall]

I'll help you till the end and keep watch for another night.

Do you serve under Yu Zi Han?

Young Master Xue, I apologize.

His Highness ordered me to protect Miss Ru Ge in secret.

Very good.

I'm also worried that something grave might happen these days.

You'll have to pay more attention.

It's best not to leave Ru Ge's side at all.

I'm afraid that I might not be able to look out for her at all times.

Young Master Xue, please rest assured.

His Highness commanded me to carry this order out till death.

You're very skilled in martial arts.

It's average.

You're joking.

There are fewer than 10 people who can intercept that attack from me.

It was sheer luck.

I thank you for your compliment, Young Master Xue.

Who is it?

What are you doing here?

Ru Ge, it's you?

You were keeping watch out here all night?

I certainly did!

I can't handle this anymore.

I can't... my neck hurts too much.

I'm all right.

I'll be fine after getting some sleep in your room.

Grandfather!

Grandfather!

Grandfather!

Grandfather...

Grandfather! Grandfather!

How's it going today?

I've sold all the flat breads.

But it's weird, there were so many strangers.

Ru Ge, bad news!

What happened?

Master Xie of Thunderbreak Manor is dead!

- How? - I don't know either.

Everyone is talking about it.

I overheard them.

This won't do. I have to investigate it.

Hall Master, this came from Ping An Town.

[Top Blade City is now investigating the death]

[of Thunderbreak Manor's Xie Hou You.]

[We hope that Flame Villa can join in the investigation.]

Zhan Feng, I'll leave you in charge of Thunderbreak Manor's case.

Jing Lei, send messages to Hall Master Murong and Hall Master Ling.

Inform them to await Zhan Feng in Ping An Town.

- Yes. - Yes.

Zhan Feng.

Don't let me down.

Yes.

Many matters are far more complicated than they seem.

Your father...

Back then--

Get going.

- Yes. - Yes.

Can we trust him?

We have to trust him.

Yi Lang...

If... one day, should I make him the Master of Flame Villa

you must do your best to assist him.

If he were to do anything to bring harm to the world

you need not take his side.

Yes.

Hall Master Zhongli!

Dieyi.

Why did you ask to see me?

Hall Master Zhongli, I'm really worried about Young Mistress.

Didn't you say that she is in Ping An Town?

Do you have any news of her?

All news from Azure Dragon Hall is to be kept confidential.

I really can't say a word.

Hall Master Zhongli, I'm not asking about anything else.

I'm just asking about Young Mistress.

Is that so?

There's a murder case in Ping An Town.

It should be quite chaotic there.

Does it have to do with Young Mistress?

I really can't say much more.

- You... - This is--

Hall Master Zhongli!

Hall Master Zhongli!

Master has already ordered Young Master Feng

to handle this matter in Ping An.

Young Master Feng?

Young Mistress, she...

Zhongli--

There's such a serious incident in Ping An Town.

Yet Young Mistress has none of her own confidants with her.

This won't do.

This can't be held off anymore.

Young Master Feng!

We're heading to Thunderbreak Manor.

It's within Top Blade City's jurisdiction.

You must act all the more cautiously!

Yes!

Senior Feng, we can set out now.

I don't feel at ease leaving her alone in the villa.

Let's set out!

Yes!

What's wrong?

Dieyi is gone.

Where did she go?

She packed away many of Young Mistress's favorite snacks.

- She must've gone to Ping An Town. - Ping An Town...

Ping An is in great chaos now.

What happened?

The Master of Thunderbreak Manor was murdered.

Senior Feng was ordered to handle this matter.

He just left.

The Master of Thunderbreak Manor is a very kind man.

How could he have offended anyone and gotten killed?

Xun Yi, why are you so pure-minded?

Conflicts in the Pugilist World are very complicated.

There's so much that you can't even imagine.

You're right.

I don't know any of that.

No one knows more than you do.

Are we really not sending anyone after Dieyi?

It's fine.

It's good that she went there.

There's one more person to look after Ru Ge.

Let's go.

Master Xie died in such an odd way.

They won't even let us bury him.

Seriously... Don't you think it's--

Seriously, how is this the way to handle it?

I want to see Grandfather!

Why can't we go in?

Exactly.

Why won't you let us in?

Exactly!

Why aren't we allowed to go in?

Why can't we go in there?

Little boy, we can only conclude the case when Flame Villa sends their men here.

This is the crime scene.

Your grandfather's corpse is also in there.

We have to safeguard it to find out the truth.

Young Master Dao, since this is Thunderbreak Manor's case

it should be our own disciples that safeguard our Master.

That's right!

We should be the ones to safeguard Master's corpse!

We don't need you!

Master Xie died mysteriously.

The murderer could be in Thunderbreak Manor.

How can we hand over the corpse?

That's impossible!

- Nonsense! - I don't believe you!

- Nonsense! - Enough.

Let's wait till Flame Villa sends their men here.

I believe that Master Lie will uphold justice for you.

- I want to see Grandfather! - Come.

I want to see Grandfather!

- Come! - I won't leave!

Not before I see Grandfather!

- Come now! - I won't! I won't leave!

I won't leave!

Lie Xiang!

There's nothing for you to do here. Head home.

Aren't they here yet?

- Here. - Come over here!

Over here!

- Have a seat. - Sure.

Madam, two bowls of noodles.

- Sure! - Have you heard?

Top Blade City must have killed Xie Hou You!

That makes sense.

Xie Hou You and Lie Ming Jing are very close friends.

He must have discovered some huge secret of Dao Wu Xia's.

Is that why Xie Hou You became the unlucky fellow?

Isn't that too cruel?

Cruel?

Back then, even Lie Ming Jing's godbrother, Zhan Fei Tian

died such a weird death.

That's what I call cruel!

Lower your voice.

Azure Dragon Hall has agents everywhere.

Have you forgotten?

None of the three major pugilist families are any good.

Thunderclap Sect seems to be the least suspicious.

You're right.

If Flame Villa and Top Blade City go up against each other

Thunderclap Sect would benefit from it!

Let's just wait for a good show to unfold.

Let's have some noodles.

Here, have some noodles.

What's going on?

How dare you speak ill of Thunderclap Sect!

- Spare us, Young Master Lei! - Spare us, Young Master Lei!

Get lost!

- Run! - Let's go!

How can you throw explosives so casually?

I've been so frustrated all day.

If they dare to say that again, I'll blow them to pieces!

Young Master Lei, look!

You scared all of my customers away!

It's all right. I can compensate you for it.

I... I wouldn't dare to take that.

I wouldn't dare take it.

Just take it.

Thank you, Young Master Lei.

Thank you.

Xiao Feng!

Grandfather...

Where is my grandfather?

Where is my grandfather?

Grandfather!

Sister Ru Ge, I dreamed that someone murdered my grandfather.

My grandfather is so kind.

How could he...

It's all right now.

I'm right here. Don't be scared.

Here, lie down.

I'm right by your side.

Just sleep, okay?

Are you hungry?

Should I get you some food?

All right, I'll be back soon.

Young Mistress Lie.

I'm acting upon my brother's orders

to take Xie Xiao Feng back to Thunderbreak Manor.

Sister Ru Ge! I don't want to!

I don't want to leave with them!

Can't you leave him with me?

Master Xie died a mysterious death.

Before the case is solved

no one from Thunderbreak Manor is allowed to leave without permission.

Why?

You even suspect a child?

We don't suspect anyone.

Top Blade City is only in charge of watching over the crime scene

and any related personnel.

Flame Villa will have to make the final judgment.

A messenger dove?

I wrote to Senior Yu to ask him about Xie Hou You's death.

How do you think Xie Hou You died?

Could this be related to the illegal taxes?

It could be enemies who sought revenge.

We haven't even discovered anything, and yet Xiao Feng's grandfather has died.

Your Highness, a letter.

- Xuan Huang. - Present.

Convey my message to Dao Wu Xia.

Tell him... that if anyone puts Ge'er in danger

I'll never let him off.

Yes.

Your Highness.

Set out right away.

Yes.

[Xue's Flat Bread Stall]

Who are you?

I was about to ask you that!

Speak! Who are you?

I'm Young Mistress's maid, Dieyi.

Do you have a token to prove it?

What token would I need?

There isn't anyone in Flame Villa who doesn't know me.

No one enters without a token.

You're Yu Zi Han's bodyguard.

Yes.

Dieyi, are you all right?

I'm fine.

Security Officer Huang, she is Young Mistress's personal maid, Dieyi.

Miss Dieyi, please forgive me for offending you.

Young Mistress, I finally get to see you!

What brings you here, Dieyi?

And what brings you here, Security Officer Huang?

Security Officer Huang has been staying on the roof for some time.

Why didn't you tell me?

She was ordered to protect you in secret.

I shouldn't say too much about it.

You really serve Young Master Yu?

Why haven't I ever met you?

In the past, I didn't get to meet Security Officer Huang either

since Xuan Huang has always accompanied Senior Yu.

Security Officer Huang is stationed at the royal manor

so she's never been to the villa.

It was at Blossoms House that I first met Security Officer Huang, right?

Indeed, Young Mistress.

Young Master Yu's subordinates are all so stern and impartial.

She nearly attacked me just now.

Fortunately... Young Master Lei got here in time.

My apologies, Miss Dieyi.

It's all right.

Are you really all right?

Shouldn't you get yourself checked?

I... I'm really all right.

That's good then.

I'll leave you ladies alone.

I'll go and have a look around.

Young Mistress, I'll keep watch outside the door.

Sure.

Young Mistress, I brought you your favorite sea-salted nuts.

- I especially brought them. - Really?

Let me see.

Dieyi, you still know me the best.

It smells so good!

- Have some. - Thank you, Young Mistress.

I haven't had these in so long.

Young Mistress, before I snuck out of the villa

I overheard the guards tidying the villa say that

Young Master Feng will be here to investigate the case.

Zhan Feng?

Father actually sent him here?

I feel a tightness in my chest.

I keep thinking that something bad is about to happen.

But then I can't really put my finger on it.

There's much going on in the Pugilist World every day.

If you look closely, none of them are any good.

It's Young Master Feng!

Isn't that Young Master Feng?

Young Mistress, look!

Young Master Feng is so mean.

He even brought that woman with him on an investigation.

Is he deliberately trying to make you feel awkward?

Young Master Feng.

Young Master Dao.

I've long awaited your arrival upon my brother's orders.

My brother is waiting for you right ahead.

Flat bread!

Freshly baked flat bread from Xue's Flat Bread Stall!

Flat bread!

- Madam. - Freshly baked flat bread!

- I'd like some. - How about two flat breads?

It's Young Mistress!

It's Young Mistress! Let's take a look!

- Young Mistress! - Young Mistress!

Young Mistress, you're actually here?

Since you're all here, try some.

- Dieyi, hand these out. - Sure!

- Here you go. - Here.

- Thank you, Young Mistress. - Here's yours.

- Thank you, Young Mistress. - Here you go.

- It smells great! - Is it good?

Take it.

Please lead the way.

Young Master Feng, this way, please.

Here you go.

Have some more.

It's so good!

It's really tasty!

That's enough!

Let's go!

Zhan Feng.

Would you like to try my flat bread?

Should I pack a few more for you?

Let's go.

Where's the money?

You gave away so many flat breads without asking them for money.

We've suffered such a huge loss today.

I forgot.

I'll punish you then...

You have to sell flat breads all day without getting any rest. All right?

Sure.

The busier, the better.

Young Mistress, I'll help you.

- Young Master Feng. - Young Master Feng.

My father-in-law's corpse is in there.

The main hall is also a crime scene.

Young Master Feng, this way, please.

Has anyone examined the body?

Yes.

A coroner was sent by the local authorities to examine it.

What did he conclude from this?

He said that it was poisoning.

Poisoning?

You're not trained in martial arts?

I'm not.

Aren't you Deputy Master of Thunderbreak Manor?

I was formerly a school teacher.

Then I married into Thunderbreak Manor

and my father-in-law had always wanted to teach me martial arts

but I'm not physically fit for it.

I don't have the foundation to practice martial arts.

I'm only a Deputy Master in name.

- Young Master Feng. - Father.

Since the day of the murder

I've had my men look through Thunderbreak Manor carefully.

Nothing seems to be amiss.

The local authorities sent a coroner and said that it was poisoning.

Did you see the corpse?

I did.

Do you also think that he died of poisoning?

I'm sure that he died of poisoning.

He died of chronic toxicity over a long period of time.

It's obvious that he was killed through inner force.

Cao Ren Qiu can't tell since he's not trained in martial arts.

But by right, Dao Wu Xia should be able to see that.

Hall Master Murong and Hall Master Ling will arrive soon.

We'll examine the body again.

I hope that it won't be different from what you just said.

[Dark River Palace]

Both our families have always been on friendly terms.

If you doubt me, Young Master Feng...

It's quite disappointing.

Gentlemen, we're late.

Please excuse us.

Young Master Feng, we can examine the body now.

There's no need for that.

The body was already examined.

It was poison.

So... we won't examine it again?

Master Xie and our Master have been friends for many years.

They already cut him up once for the autopsy.

If we did so again, it'd be disrespectful to him.

Go and check the premises of Thunderbreak Manor.

No! My grandfather wasn't poisoned!

He died from inner force trauma to his vital organs by a skilled pugilist!

They got it wrong!

Xiao Feng!

- Don't mess around. - Father!

Go.

I might not be that skilled, but even I can tell!

Young Master Feng will judge correctly.

He won't let the bad guy go.

Leave now.

But he's so highly skilled in martial arts!

He must see that Grandfather died of internal injuries!

Xiao Feng!

Apologize to Young Master Feng now!

I refuse!

It's obvious that they're wrong about the autopsy!

You--

You are such a loser!

You can't master martial arts and you're even scared of them!

You're not my father!

Xiao Feng!

Young Master Feng.

Xiao Feng just can't accept that his grandfather has passed away.

Please forgive him for making such impertinent remarks.

It's fine.

Deputy Master Cao, my condolences.

I take my leave.

Young Master Feng, would you spend the night in Top Blade City?

No, thank you.

I'll stay here.

Might as well.

Xiao Feng, what's wrong?

All of them said that my grandfather was poisoned to death.

But that's not true! It's not true!

They took advantage of my father because he isn't trained in martial arts

and can't tell an injury caused by inner force!

Didn't they examine the body?

They did, but they all claim that he died of poisoning.

Xiao Feng, explain it clearly.

You mean that someone killed your grandfather with inner force, right?

Yes! I'm not wrong about that!

Good, I believe you.

We'll go to Zhan Feng!

You can't.

Why?

My father sent Zhan Feng here.

If you question Zhan Feng in public

it's as good as doubting Flame Villa.

You mustn't approach him.

But I can.

You're going there?

I'll just say that I'm paying my last respects to Master Xie.

They won't hold me back.

We shouldn't judge too quickly.

I'll know once I see Master Xie's corpse.

But--

Zhan Feng might not give you any chance to reveal the truth.

He will.

You still trust him?

He's my eldest senior.

Although he has blundered in his relationships

he'd never tamper with such matters.

Zhan Feng should understand that

his judgment could cause great chaos within the Pugilist Alliance.

He's an intelligent man.

Zhan Fei Tian's son...

He can't be too bad.

Zhan Fei Tian's son...

Zhan Feng will surely make the most accurate choice.

Young Mistress, these are all our own subordinates.

I'd like to see who dares to stop you.

Young Mistress.

Apart from Zhan Feng, who else is here?

Young Mistress, both Hall Master Murong and Hall Master Ling are here.

- Lead the way. - This way, please.

It's even better that Hall Master Murong is here.

He always takes your side.

What matters most is seeing Master Xie's corpse.

We're not to have any conflict with Senior Feng.

I'll pretend not to see that heartless cheater.

Young Master Feng, Young Mistress is here.

Lie Ru Ge?

Yes.

Where is she right now?

She'd like to pay her last respects to Master Xie in the main hall.

The disciples have held her back--

Step aside.

Young Master Feng said that no one is allowed in.

Step aside!

Zhan Feng.

What brings you here so suddenly, Ru Ge?

Could you get them to let me in?

I'd like to pay my respects to Master Xie.

No.

Why not?

As long as we haven't reached a verdict

no one is allowed near Xie Hou You's corpse.

Can't I even pay my last respects?

No.

Don't pay your respects now.

Come back some other day.

They have all treated me so kindly.

If I don't pay my respects now, I'd feel terrible.

Come again when we reach a verdict.

Murong, you always spoil her.

Look how spoiled she is now.

Head back now.

Stop making a fuss here.

I'm not just making a fuss.

- Xiao Feng! - I--

You've wandered off again!

Come here.

Father, I asked Sister Ru Ge to help.

Grandfather was obviously--

Shut up!

You're making groundless claims again.

Won't this make Flame Villa seem unrighteous?

You have to remember that

Master Lie once saved your grandfather's life.

That's enough!

Listen up, everyone.

From tonight, no one is allowed into the main hall.

Be it Top Blade City or Flame Villa, this command applies to all.

Yes, Young Master Feng.

You won't allow me to pay my respects today, no matter what?

Please head back, Ru Ge.

Young Master Feng.

Young Mistress just wishes to pay her last respects.

Why do you have to make it sound so serious?

Even if Master was here, he wouldn't hold her back.

That's what my mentor would do.

This is how I handle it.

Could you make a fair judgment to the Pugilist World?

Zhan Feng...

I will handle this fairly.

Fine.

I trust you.

Let's go.

How is it? How did it turn out?

Is it just like as Xiao Feng said?

It isn't?

Zhan Feng didn't even let us in.

I didn't get to check the body.

It was just as Young Master Xue said.

Zhan Feng won't let you find out the truth.

Young Master Xue, since you were right about that

what do you think we should do next?

There are a great many grudges hidden behind this case.

Just the few of us won't be able to unravel the truth.

Zhan Feng said that he would investigate it fairly.

You still trust him?

Yes.

Since you trust Zhan Feng, just wait till he gives an impartial verdict.

Father-in-law...

Xiao Feng is thoroughly disappointed in me.

However, I've kept your words in mind.

You were friends with Master Lie for years.

Young Master Feng will surely seek out the murderer

and unravel the truth.

What are you doing?

- What are you doing? - Cao Ren Qiu!

In order to take Master Xie's position

you've poisoned his meals over a long period of time!

What a ruthless man you are!

You should be killed for it!

I'm innocent!

- I'm innocent! - Take him away!

- Take him away! - I'm innocent!

I want to see Young Master Feng!

- Go! - I'm innocent!

Please put in a good word for us before Prince Jingyuan.

His Highness need not worry.

As long as Young Mistress Lie is here

I will surely ensure that she's safe.

Young Master Dao, thank you for the efforts.

You're too kind.

- See the officer out. - Sir, this way, please.

Zhan Feng had Cao Ren Qiu arrested.

Well done.

Yu Zi Han has learned of this matter.

We must act quickly.

Clean this all up as soon as possible.

Get our men to spread the news.

Make it known that we found out about Thunderbreak Manor's illegal taxation.

It's a punishment of the gods that

their own Master was poisoned in an internal strife.

Yes.

Zhan Feng.

You got soft-hearted again.

Don't hesitate.

Think about your parents.

I understand.
