[The Flame's Daughter]

[Episode 4]

Since you refuse to tell me the truth, I won't force you.

You're so unhappy.

You might as well do without him.

You don't actually need my help.

A man like Zhan Feng won't waver once he's made up his mind.

We were once so happy.

Do you know the feeling of caring about every smile and frown

of the one you love, and always keeping him or her on your mind?

Aren't my feelings for you just like that?

But he changed so suddenly.

One day...

He brought him a pitiful courtesan.

Since then, everyone in Flame Villa sympathized with me.

I've thought of giving up on him.

But what if he has a reason?

He might be just too befuddled to see the truth.

I can't just give up on him like this.

Such feelings...

You wouldn't understand.

Ge'er, how could I not understand such feelings?

What you said to me in Luoyang...

It made me assume that you knew the reason behind Zhan Feng's actions.

But now, you're telling me that you can't help me?

Give it up.

It's 100 times harder to save a relationship than to give it up.

I'm willing to do my very best... to make one last attempt.

You went to Blossoms House but left without learning

ways to win the affection of men.

Instead, you used the most foolish way, baring your heart.

You're making a bet.

If he still loves you, he surely can't bear to hurt you.

You're testing to see if Zhan Feng still has you on his mind.

But if you can be sure that he has already fallen for another

what will you do?

I'll cut him out of my heart.

Ru Ge!

What's wrong?

Young Master Xue bullied you?

Look at you. Your maid is even tougher than you.

She shows no mercy in bullying Ying Yi.

Yet you're bullied by the person you brought home.

My maid?

Which one?

She's called... Die Yi?

Just ask about it and you'll know.

Young Master Xue, I'm here to see you.

You didn't put up a good enough show that day at Blossoms House?

I'll stop acting then.

I'm here to see you about making a deal.

I know that my father's second wife wants you dead.

Although I don't know how you offended her

I just like to sabotage anything that she's doing.

Since she wants you dead, I'll take your side.

Is that so?

Exactly.

If not, you can't possibly stay in Flame Villa for life?

I can guarantee you that if you do me a small favor.

No one in the Thunderclap Sect would dare lay a finger on you.

That sounds like a good deal.

What favor are you asking of me?

Help me stay in Flame Villa, the longer, the better.

What?

Is there a way to do it?

Say something!

If you take this, it gives you the symptoms of poisoning.

Common doctors won't be able to diagnose it correctly.

In half a month, you'll recover without any medication.

I wonder if this will be of any help to you?

Good-looking people like you are so full of tricks

and hearts malicious as snakes.

Is this really so effective?

You'll know once you try it.

What if I never wake up again after I try it?

You asked for it.

Die Yi!

Young Mistress!

Die Yi, have you done something to Ying Yi?

Tell me quickly!

You can ask Xun Yi.

Xun Yi, have you done something to Ying Yi?

I sent her to the river to do all the dirty laundry today.

You should all know that Ying Yi only attends to Zhan Feng.

She never had to do such hard chores.

All maids in Maple Quarters were relocated to Plum Quarters yesterday

to attend to Young Mistress.

There aren't enough maids to do the laundry.

She should finish the chore herself.

- But-- - Young Mistress.

Stop worrying about the maids.

Exactly. Young Mistress, don't worry about it.

Xun Yi is the head of the maids.

Can't she even order Ying Yi about?

Even if Young Master Feng blames her

Young Master Ji will speak up for her.

But if you both do that...

Zhan Feng will only dislike me more.

- Young-- - Young Mistress!

Dao Lie Xiang, I have something awesome to show you.

What is it?

Here.

Young Master Xue gave this to me.

If we take this, we get to stay in Flame Villa for a while longer.

We'll get to stay longer to watch.

What is it?

Third Young Mistress Dao is scared to take Young Master Xue's pill?

Who's scared?

I'll take it if you do.

Sure.

We'll take it together.

After we take it, we'll be a pair of suffering lovers.

What nonsense is that?

I mean, we'll be in the same boat.

You tricked me!

Hey!

Miss Ying Yi.

Your servant, Ying Yi, greets Young Mistress.

You must be tired after doing laundry all day.

Head back and get some rest.

I'll help you.

- It's fine, Young Mistress. - Here.

Hand it to me.

Young Mistress!

The three of you together aren't even as strong as I am.

Don't bother fighting over this.

Ying Yi!

Young Mistress, I'm begging you.

Please don't take my clothes away.

Ying Yi, is this a misunderstanding?

I'm just trying to help you.

Young Mistress, I know that you hate me because Young Master Feng likes me.

But if I don't finish doing the laundry by this evening

I'll be driven out of here.

Young Mistress, I'm begging you.

Please don't take the clothes away from me!

What are you talking about?

Wench!

Young Mistress is just trying to help you--

Young Mistress, you mustn't take her words seriously.

She's doing this on purpose.

Here, I'll help you with it.

She is trained in martial arts?

Young Master Feng, she fell over by herself!

- Young Mistress didn't do it! - Shut up!

She really is just acting!

I'll wake her up!

Die Yi!

Why would you hurt her?

Xun Yi.

Young Mistress!

I didn't push her.

Who do you think it was?

An inner force was pushed into my acupuncture point.

That was why I pushed her away.

As the Young Mistress of Flame Villa

you inherited the skills of Flame Fist from Mentor.

How could your acupuncture point be so easily attacked?

You don't believe me?

Even if I did push her, it has nothing to do with my maid.

Why would you hurt Die Yi?

You injured my woman.

It's only fair if I hurt her.

Slowly... Be careful.

Senior Yu, can I take Die Yi to your Bamboo Quarters?

I'm afraid that Father will be worried if he learns about this.

Come.

Young Master...

Have a good rest.

Xun Yi and Die Yi have gone to Bamboo Quarters?

Yes, Young Master Ji.

It's the restricted area in Flame Villa.

Mentor gave orders that anyone who enters

without Senior Yu's permission is to be killed.

No one is allowed to trespass in Bamboo Quarters.

Die Yi, you're awake?

I'm all right.

Die Yi.

Young Mistress.

I'm very sorry.

I got you implicated as well.

I'm fine.

This injury is all worthwhile.

I've never visited Bamboo Quarters with Young Mistress.

She isn't hurt internally?

I'll leave her in your care then.

Why did he leave so suddenly?

He's gone to decoct the medication.

Ge'er.

Is it very silly of me to keep trying again and again?

If you don't try your best

I'm afraid that you won't give up on him completely.

When can I truly give up on him?

When the time comes, you'll know.

You've finally come out of there!

Senior Ji.

Ge'er, I'm not here to see you.

I only came because I'm worried about Xun Yi.

Why would you be worried about me?

I'm not injured.

Because you came to Bamboo Quarters!

It's the only restricted area in the villa.

Die Yi, are you much better now?

I just had two bowls of medication.

I'm energetic and refreshed!

Senior Feng is highly skilled.

I thought that you'd be recuperating for a few weeks at least.

When I heard you were injured by mistake, I had such a fright.

I'm worried there will be more misunderstandings.

By mistake? Xun Yi, look at him!

See? I told you that Young Master Ji would take sides with Young Master Feng!

I'm so badly injured but he made light of it!

You... Don't complain about me right in front of her.

I mean that Senior Feng isn't someone who would do that.

- There must be some-- - Enough!

Xun Yi, Senior Feng is a good man.

He's just befuddled at the moment.

Your wonderful Senior Feng accused my Young Mistress because of a maid.

He even injured my close friend!

Xun Yi and Die Yi, let's get going.

Don't tag along.

Xun Yi! I--

Die Yi, I'll do it.

Does it still hurt?

It doesn't hurt physically anymore.

But my heart hurts.

Young Mistress, how long will you keep putting up with this?

You're not the only one who is upset now.

Xun Yi and I are also worried about you.

Apart from that, what good does it do?

Die Yi, that's enough.

Young Mistress is upset about it as well.

Just dump that kind of man.

Even if you manage to win him back, he did betray you once.

Besides...

I don't think that you can win him back.

He must have his reasons.

Reasons?

He's just blinded by lust!

- Perhaps he-- - Young Mistress.

Whether Young Master Feng still likes you or not

he doesn't deserve your devotion.

His feelings for you aren't as important as his own interests.

I don't believe that he can't understand your agony.

He just doesn't care.

The branch masters will soon be returning to the villa.

Young Mistress, you must lift your spirits.

Don't be brought down by some trivial trick.

Don't worry.

I won't embarrass myself in front of all of my uncles.

Young Mistress, Master has sent a message.

You are to go over to him.

My father asked to see me?

Master.

Why would you address me so coldly?

Feng'er, isn't it better to address me as Mentor?

Mentor.

Is there a misunderstanding between you and Ge'er?

It was no misunderstanding.

She injured my woman.

I only hurt her maid in return.

Haven't you always been very close to Ge'er?

After I met Ying Yi

I then realized that Ru Ge is but a junior to me.

Even if I act in bad faith to Ru Ge, we're both still single.

It isn't too late yet.

I believe that Ru Ge can find...

someone she truly loves in this lifetime.

You grew up together.

You were always together and got along so well.

But now...

Feng'er, as long as you're willing to turn back now

and leave that courtesan

I'll pass down my Flame Seal to you in front of everyone.

Mentor, thank you for your kindness.

I don't need it.

Are you going to give up everything you have in Flame Villa?

If Mentor insists on forcing me against my will

I will give everything up and leave Flame Villa with Ying Yi.

You--

Father.

Don't say another word.

Since Miss Dao is ill, stay and recuperate slowly.

There's no rush to leave.

Thank you, Head Housekeeper Yi.

- Keep a close eye on them. - Yes.

Head Housekeeper Yi.

Head Housekeeper Yi.

Xun Yi?

I heard that you assigned two of your maids to the guest room.

Has something gone wrong?

Miss Dao is slightly unwell.

I sent over two of my trusted maids since they are our guests after all.

I can't trust the common maids.

I understand.

I have to keep tabs on the reassigning of all maids in the quarters.

It's my duty.

I hope Head Housekeeper Yi won't take it to heart.

There are rules here in Flame Villa.

It's only right.

I forgot to inform you in advance.

Head Housekeeper, you're too polite.

What exactly did you feed me?

It's so effective...

It was a pill from Young Master Xue.

Nonsense!

How could he harm me on purpose?

He's not trying to harm us.

He's helping us.

The effect of Young Master Xue's pill will fade away in 15 days.

He's giving us a justified reason to keep staying here.

I swear.

I'm definitely not lying to you this time.

I already swore that I'm not.

You still don't believe me?

Lei Jing Hong... you're keeping something from me.

What could I possibly have to hide from you?

I don't believe that you only came here as an observer.

You've gone to such lengths to stay here.

You must be after something.

Speak up now!

It's not like that...

I'm just here as an observer.

Fine, you won't tell me?

I'll tell Yi Lang the truth then.

Don't go--

I do have a reason.

Say it.

I'm searching for someone.

Who is it?

My half-sister who shares the same father as I do.

19 years ago, Second Madam married into the Thunderclap Sect.

She gave birth to a daughter the next year.

However, she died after a short while.

These two years, Second Madam has been behaving very weirdly.

I think that there must be some secret behind this matter.

That was when I started investigating her.

Who knew...

I actually found out that my half-sister didn't die.

She was given away as an orphan.

I followed this thread and investigated for half a year.

Then I found out that she was sent to Flame Villa.

She's here?

It's very likely that she's here.

Do you have any clues?

I do.

I know that she grew up in Linze.

She was then sent here when she turned seven or eight years old.

She should be 18 years old now.

Moreover, I think that she must be very beautiful.

We should approach Lie Ru Ge!

She's the Young Mistress of Flame Villa.

If she helps you, you can surely find your sister!

I'll go to her now.

You-- get back here.

Sit down.

Give this a thought.

The daughter of the Thunderclap Sect is here in Flame Villa.

Will that do?

Look at you.

All you have is a pretty face, but you train only with your weapons.

Besides, we both have special identities.

We just have stay here.

I'll think of a plan.

Here, please come in!

Move these in.

Branch masters, it's been a while.

Come in, please!

Keep these safe.

Hall Master Murong!

Young Master Ji, it's been ages.

It's been a long while!

These are...

We have made quite a profit this year.

I've prepared gifts for the young masters and Young Mistress.

Thank you!

Here, please come in!

Sure! Let's go.

- After you. - Welcome.

Hall Master Ling.

- Young Master Ji. - Hall Master Ling.

Hall Master Murong just went in and here you are.

That old chap always gets here ahead of me.

Hall Master Ling, you still refuse to admit that you're old?

- I have to admit it now. - Please go in.

- Slowly, Hall Master Ling! - Sure.

Young Master Feng arrives!

- Young Master Feng! - Young Master Feng!

Master Lie is training in seclusion these days.

Just as it was two years ago

I'll manage all matters in the villa in his absence.

Five days later, Master Lie will treat everyone to a banquet.

You've all worked very hard out there for the past two years.

- Young Master Feng is too kind. - You're too kind.

The letters delivered by the messenger doves these two years

were mostly written by Young Master Feng.

It seems that Young Master Feng and Young Mistress

will soon be getting married.

Yes, it seems that the wedding is coming up soon.

We're here to discuss business.

Young Master Yu arrives!

Young Master Yu?

What brings Young Master Yu here?

Young Master Yu?

Why is he here today?

Exactly. Who knows?

Young Master Yu.

Senior Yu.

Young Mistress, you finally returned to your room!

Where have you been?

You didn't even tell us beforehand.

I just went to the Maple--

Young Master Yu has gone to the grand hall!

He's now discussing matters with Young Master Feng and Young Master Ji!

Senior Yu?

Doesn't he always stay out of the villa's official matters?

I guess he must have been assigned by Master Lie.

How strange...

Why didn't my father tell me?

Master Lie might be getting Young Master Yu ready

to replace Young Master Feng.

It can't be.

My father wouldn't have done that.

Young Mistress.

Young Mistress is here.

Uncles, I've brought you all some snacks to go with tea.

You can have them when you take a break.

Xun Yi and Die Yi, serve the snacks to them.

Yes.

- Thank you. - Thank you.

Come here, Ge'er.

Uncle Murong. Uncle Murong.

Take it.

You always bring me gifts.

Open it and take a look.

This is...

They might seem small but they are really valuable.

Just regard it as a wedding gift to you and Young Master Feng in advance.

Next month, I have to take a trip beyond the Great Wall.

I'm afraid I can't make it back in time for your wedding.

I hope that no one misunderstands us.

Ge'er and I--

Gentlemen!

- Young Master Yu can speak? - Young Master Yu can speak?

What is going on?

I have already asked my mentor for Ru Ge's hand in marriage.

Senior Yu, are you joking?

What did you say?

I didn't read your lips. Say it again.

I said...

Senior Yu, are you joking?

Do I seem like I'm joking?

Senior Yu...

Ge'er.

But my mentor hasn't consented to it.

Senior Feng and my junior are still engaged.

It's my mentor's greatest wish to see them married.

Senior Yu!

Young Mistress.

Senior Yu, I'd like to speak to you in private.

What you just said isn't true?

It isn't.

I understand.

You were worried that I'd be embarrassed before the branch masters

if he annuls our engagement.

Don't worry.

When I see Mentor later, I'll explain it to him.

Would you like me to take you there?

I need to discuss some matters of the villa with him.

You wouldn't be interested.

I'll get going then.

Let's go.

Senior Yu.

Was it true what you said in the meeting this morning?

I made it up.

That's great!

You really gave me a huge fright.

Senior Yu, did you say that only for the sake of Senior Feng?

Yes.

I won't object to it if you wish to marry her.

But you have to wait until I annul the engagement first.

Otherwise...

The branch masters will make some wild guesses.

It will have an impact on the interests of the whole.

You're so concerned about the interests of the whole?

Yes.

Since you care about that

you should know that everyone from Flame Villa

and the Pugilist World knows of your engagement.

Aren't you concerned that they might say

you've abandoned her despite past affections

acted ungratefully toward your mentor

and cared not for the interests of the whole?

He's right, Senior Feng!

You mustn't act willfully and annul the engagement publicly!

The tongue is not steel, and yet it cuts.

We are all well aware of how Ru Ge treats you.

Zhan Feng.

Don't let her and Mentor down.

So what if I do?

Then you're unfit to inherit Flame Villa.

Yu Zi Han.

You don't get to decide if I'm fit for it or not.

Feng'er.

Are there important matters in the meeting this morning?

Xun Yi!

Are you all right?

I'm fine.

You didn't even see me walk in?

All I can think about right now is Senior Feng and Senior Yu.

They are both really troubling me.

Young Master Yu embarrassed Young Master Feng in public.

You're displeased about it?

One of my seniors is bad with words and the other hardly interacts with anyone.

For 10 years, they have always remained true to their own duties.

But now...

I'm afraid this will prevent Senior Feng from becoming the next Master.

I think that it's best if someone else inherits the position.

Look!

Judging by seniority, skills in martial arts, and capability

Senior Feng is the best candidate for the villa's next Master.

I was always sickly as a child.

Senior Feng guided me and looked after me.

Although he's ineloquent, he truly treats me kindly.

After we're both married, we can--

Who is going to marry you?

Since you're so loyal to Young Master Feng

you can just stay with him.

I-- Xun Yi!

I'll definitely marry you!

Young Master Ji.

Who are you?

I'm new to Pine Quarters.

I'll be attending to Young Master Ji from now on.

All right.

Pull out those lotus roots quickly.

Hurry up.

What's wrong?

Young Mistress, once we pull out all the lotus roots

dig up the clogged mud and put new ones in

lotuses might bloom again.

New ones?

What's the point in having new ones?

They won't be planted by him.

Young Master!

It's raining too heavily. You should head home.
