[The Wolf]

[Episode 22] Ever since Yao Ji pretended to make a deal with me

to treat Zhaixing's legs,

I knew something was off.

Think about it.

Yao Ji has been my nemesis.

Why would she easily agree to betray His Majesty to assist me?

Also, I would betray her anytime.

Isn't she just dooming herself?

You are clear-eyed, Master.

Yao Ji is cautious enough to not get herself into danger.

May I ask you something, Master?

Go ahead.

If it wasn't a fake poison but a real one,

would you deceive His Majesty

and secretly cure Young Feudal Mistress Ma's poison?

Wait! What nonsense are you talking?

Why are you thinking about what didn't happen?

Master,

I would like to know that, too.

Are you doing this, too?

If the day will come that I have to betray His Majesty

and choose to protect Ma Zhaixing,

then I would resign as the head of Night Fiends first.

I would then have nothing to do with you all.

Whatever I do would have nothing to do with you.

Master, that's not what I meant!

Leave.

- But, Master— - Leave!

Yes, Master.

After this test,

there's no way Chu Kui will put his total trust in me again.

We're in a perilous situation.

I must figure out a way to get Zhaixing out of here the soonest.

What are you planting?

Go away.

You're still fussing about the Hundred Flowers Brothel incident?

How dare you laugh at me!

Why don't you go find those prostitutes?

They're as sweet as honey.

However sweet the honey is, it's not lasting.

Yet, the brightness of a star is eternal.

You picked up these sweet nothings from those brothels, didn't you?

Mo Xiao and I went to the Hundred Flowers Brothel

because His Majesty asked me to go investigate rebellious officials.

We weren't there to drink and have fun.

If you don't believe me, you may go ask His Majesty.

The Ministry of Justice has the record, right?

What about Miss Lufu from Kuizhou?

She didn't enter my room at all.

I used her to drive you away.

I don't care what you did at Hundred Flowers Brothel.

Anyway, you went there behind my back.

Speak!

What else are you hiding from me?

Do you really have no other unspeakable secret?

None.

Wolf Boy never hides anything from me.

Are you still that Wolf Boy?

I'm always Wolf Boy in front of you.

What about when you're not in front of me?

When I'm not in front of you,

I'll still remember that I'm your Wolf Boy.

The current Prince of Bo,

whether he is with you or not, no matter what happens,

will always remember

to not let anything upsetting happen to you.

You haven't told me what you're planting.

Usnea herbs.

After leaving Ma Mansion,

you and I were suddenly bestowed a marriage.

And I suddenly found out

that you're my long-lost Wolf Boy.

You don't like God's arrangement?

No.

For eight years, you were Prince of Bo whom I don't know.

You're Wolf Boy as well as Prince of Bo.

But those eight years,

it was such a long time.

But I wasn't by your side and I knew nothing.

I know that people change.

But I always hope that these usnea herbs

can turn you back into Wolf Boy a bit more.

I know you don't like plants.

But now, are you willing to turn back into Wolf Boy a bit more

and accept these plants?

Just a bit?

♫ Eternity may not be far away ♫

♫ Lingering on love for one more day ♫

♫ My heartbeat kept repeating ♫

♫ That jump for joy during our first meeting ♫

At first, I didn't know how to appreciate the beauty of flowers.

Now, I feel like learning it.

But isn't this too much?

Since I'm learning it, I might as well master it.

Not just these.

This is...

Wolf pot?

Master knows that you like playing pitch pot.

That's why he ordered me to find that.

I asked someone to customize it.

Your Highness, did you see it?

Both of us are on this pot!

Mo Xiao,

did you take it upon yourself to have this made?

Well done.

Master complimented me!

Let's play a round?

Shall we?

With Master?

Who else?

Let's do as she said and play a round.

- Forget about the ranks. - Sure!

Truth be told,

I'm the greatest player at this.

Okay, let's play!

♫ One more gaze and let's see who will melt whom ♫

♫ One more hugging practice until perfection is achieved ♫

Watch me.

Good!

Watch me.

Okay. I'm done calculating.

Prince of Bo is out.

Your scores are almost the same.

Now, we'll come up with a winner.

Last shot.

The highest scorer will flick the losers' foreheads.

Forehead flicking?

Yes.

♫ One more hugging practice until perfection is achieved; A little bit ♫

Like this.

Good idea!

Okay. Well, Wen Yan, you go first.

Hurry up. Come.

- Go. - Come.

Mo Xiao, give him some space. Come now.

That's a miss.

Get lost.

Hai Die. Come.

Hai Die, good luck.

Aim for it.

Yes, there.

It's too difficult.

Mo Xiao, good luck.

Mo Xiao won!

Come flick Prince of Bo's forehead.

What? I won.

Go, Mo Xiao.

Master, it's the rule of the game.

Just admit defeat.

Does it hurt?

You show good sportsmanship.

Wait.

Where's Ma Jing?

When she learned that you were rearranging the flower garden,

she went to the market to buy some flower pots.

She should be back soon.

I'm going to give her a surprise.

I can't let her see what Bo Royal Mansion looks like.

Carry on with the game. I'll wait for her out there.

- Hurry back. - Flick the losers' foreheads!

Go ahead.

Prince of Bo, here's the thing, this...

Master.

You're the one who told us to forget about ranks.

Come! Let's have a match!

Hai Die, set the pot.

What should I do when Ma Jing comes back?

I'll just blindfold her.

That'll do.

Physician Yao Ji?

Greetings, Young Feudal Mistress.

I was just ordered to take over the Grand Diviner Palace.

I am here to visit Prince of Bo.

You came at the right time.

I'm sure you haven't seen such a Bo Mansion.

Come on in, please.

His Majesty doesn't like plants.

At first, I just wanted to persuade him to let me plant my favorite usnea.

I never thought he'd change the face of the entire mansion.

Physician Yao Ji, isn't he very different from the Prince of Bo that you used to know?

They're just flowers.

It's nothing.

I'll show something more exciting.

- Goal! - Goal!

- Finally, a goal! - Come here!

Defeat comes from arrogance. Serves you right!

- Flick his forehead! - Master.

- Flick his forehead! - Flick his forehead! - Master, please...

Flick his forehead.

That hurts a lot!

Come! Let's carry on!

- Physician Yao Ji. - I'll go first.

Do you think His Highness has really changed?

Goal!

Watch me. You just wait and see.

Just wait and see.

This will be a goal.

You seem to be enjoying yourself, Your Highness.

Don't you two know each other?

Why don't you greet each other?

Not just Prince of Bo,

but also Wen Yan, Hai Die, and Mo Xiao.

We know each other very well.

I just took over the Grand Diviner Palace

and decided to pay you a special visit. Greetings, Your Highness.

Your Highness, why are you ignoring her?

Is it because of that small grievance?

Haven't you let go?

What did she say to you?

Nothing.

She just said that you're not on good terms due to the fight for the position of Night Fiends head.

-

There's indeed a small grievance between you.

But now that it's been resolved, it's fine now.

You're right, Young Mistress.

There's no unresolvable grievance between Prince of Bo and me.

Moreover, I once made an effort

to treat your illness, Young Mistress.

I'm very busy.

Why are you here, Physician Yao Ji?

I will be hosting this year's Slaughter Banquet.

Your Highness became famous when you organized it last year.

Princess Consort Bo should learn a thing or two about it.

I received the imperial decree to invite Young Feudal Mistress Ma

to join the event with me.

Young Mistress, please come with me.

Now?

Please.

His Majesty will prepare ten sets of top-notch horse meat.

The prisoners in the dungeon will celebrate with us.

Today, you will choose the prisoners who will serve the meat. Is that okay?

Sure.

Him.

And him.

Whoever you choose will be executed.

One year ago, the one that Prince of Bo personally executed was

Lord Duan Yanyu.

Is Wolf Boy long gone?

It's me.

Who are you?

Do I still know you?

As Prince of Bo, you're destined to be bound by duty.

I can't expect you to stop being the third prince.

I can't force you to turn back into Wolf Boy.

Can we still daydream of leaving all this behind

and turn back into the most innocent Xing'er and Wolf Boy?

You're Xing'er.

I'm Wolf Boy.

But we're also Prince of Bo and Princess Consort of Bo.

I'm the one who wished you'd turn back into Wolf Boy.

That's very selfish of me.

We won't be beaten down by this small matter.

Now, I just need some time to accept your world.

No matter how repulsed you feel...

remember to eat.

I have some military affairs to attend to tomorrow; hence, will be away for a while.

You have a few days to calm yourself down.

Remember, take good care of yourself.

Master.

What is it?

His father has woken up.

Zi Shen, the palace is quite clean, well done.

Your Honor, I found out that Prince of Bo and his underling Mo Xiao left the mansion in the middle of the night.

They're suspicious. [Zi Shen, Yao Ji's valet]

It's you?

Who are you?

Why did you save us from the fire?

At daybreak,

leave at once.

And don't ever come back again.

I never made any enemies.

Who?

Who is trying to kill us?

Could it be...

Could it be that scary man called Wolf Boy?

He wants to kill and save us?

Do you want to take the truth to your grave?

Or forget everything

and live a good life with your daughter?

Be smart.

Forget everything.

And don't ever come back again.

If you keep trying to get to the bottom of it,

you and your daughter will definitely die.

Leave...

We will leave!

From now on, we have nothing to do with what happened!

Very good.

Master, it's all settled.

If you hadn't found out that I was trying to save them,

I wouldn't have gotten you into this.

In order to avoid the Ma Army from having suspicions about the Ma Mansion massacre,

His Majesty once ordered Prince of Bo to lead the Night Fiends and get rid of him.

Surprisingly, Prince of Bo secretly spared his life.

Master, Prince of Bo has truly changed.

No.

Prince of Bo has become disloyal to His Majesty because of Ma Zhaixing.

He probably saw through your test last time.

That's why he showed indifference.

He not only changed himself for her,

but also tried to deceive everyone

and get himself killed.

I will not allow him to keep making mistakes

and dig his own grave.

- The one back there, you'll take this. - Yes.

Move it over there and return with some small ones.

Do you hear me?

Here, hurry up. Be careful.

These flowers are His Highness's gifts to Young Feudal Mistress.

You over here, hurry up, too.

- Hurry up and water the plants. - Yes.

Be careful. Don't drop it.

Here, move it here. Hurry up!

Over here.

Young Feudal Mistress.

Mo Xiao,

change it back to before and stop planting.

Young Mistress, but before Master went out of the city to marshal the troops,

he kept reminding that he wants to see

a transformed Bo Royal Mansion when he returns after half a month.

His Highness is bound by duty.

We seem to be doing all this to force him to turn back into Wolf Boy

and put more pressure on him.

We shouldn't be doing so.

But Master truly wants to change.

You are the one who should change your mindset, Young Feudal Mistress.

Grand Diviner, instead of staying in your palace,

why are you here?

I came to see Young Feudal Mistress.

His Majesty heard that you and Prince of Bo

had a fight because of the Slaughter Banquet.

He thought we could talk, woman to woman.

He ordered me to try to placate you first

after Prince of Bo left the mansion.

It's our family affair.

His Majesty and Grand Diviner need not worry.

Grand Diviner Yao Ji, how kind of you.

I'm truly astonished at this abnormal act of yours.

I'm not that idle.

Nor am I interested in meddling in the private affairs between Prince of Bo and Young Feudal Mistress.

It's just that I received His Majesty's order and I must obey it.

If Young Mistress will be willing to go to a place with me,

perhaps it could avoid the deepening misunderstanding between you and Prince of Bo.

Or does Your Highness have no intention to do so?

If you refuse to go,

I will not be able to report back to His Majesty.

Fine. I'll go with you.

Young Mistress.

Mo Xiao, if you're worried about her safety,

you may come along.

This way please, Young Mistress.

[Duan Mansion]

This old woman is Lord Duan's mother.

Mo Xiao, you, too, knew that Lord Duan's parents stay here?

When Lord Duan went into prison, he only had a mother left behind.

Master found out that Madam Duan was old.

She's blind, hard of hearing, and suffers many illnesses.

She's got only a few years left,

so His Highness let her stay here.

Uncle Duan always said that he was all alone.

I never thought that he had an old mother here.

That wasn't all that Prince of Bo did, right?

Young Mistress,

after Lord Duan died,

Prince of Bo secretly ordered Wen Yan to prepare medicines

and send them to the Duan Mansion every month,

because he couldn't bear to see her fend for herself.

Prince of Bo shouldn't have been that sentimental.

Are you happy now, Young Mistress?

Even though he's not the Wolf Boy in your eyes,

he's not worthless.

Young Mistress, actually...

actually, Master may just seem cruel.

Please give him some time

and get to know more about him.

After all...

After all, it's sad to be misunderstood.

It's like when people found you

very cruel when you chased Wolf Boy away.

Were you happy about that?

Enough! I don't want to hear about your family affairs.

I have done my job here.

It's time to head back to the palace and report back.

I'm taking my leave.

Even the execution of State Stabilizing Marquis was because he was corrupt and wicked.

Prince of Bo has always been kind-hearted.

Let me take care of Madam Duan.

Who are you?

My father, Ma Ying, was Lord Duan's old friend.

You are Young Feudal Mistress Zhaixing.

Master told me about you and General Ma.

Young Mistress, you have stopped blaming Master?

I never blamed him.

I shouldn't just think about Wolf Boy.

I should also see the good in Prince of Bo.

Surprisingly, Yao Ji has done a good thing.

My Lord, we don't have enough food for today

and it's not convenient for me to go out

because I'm brewing medicine.

Could you go to the market for me?

I'm afraid I won't able to do so.

Why not?

Mo Xiao, hurry back.

Don't let them be hungry.

Yes, Young Mistress.

Young Feudal Mistress!

What is this?

Ever since Lord Duan went into prison,

many ministers who were close to him have stopped visiting us

and they avoid us at all cost.

You are the only one who has visited us.

Please get up now.

Get up now.

Here.

I'm glad that Lord Duan trusted the right person.

He was right to treat you sincerely.

Also, before Lord Duan went into prison,

he knew he'd probably be executed, so he gave me this letter

and told me that I must give it to you in the future when given the chance.

Is that why you sent Mo Xiao away on purpose?

This is a serious matter.

I was left with no choice.

Only you can read it.

How outrageous.

I need to go at once.

[Duan Mansion]

Old Lady, where is Young Feudal Mistress?

I don't know.

She said she needs to leave due to some urgent matters.

She has left?

She left without saying anything?

She would never do that.

Could it be that something happened?

Hai Die!

Is Young Feudal Mistress back?

I haven't seen her since this morning.

Oh no!

Did something bad happen to her?

What's wrong?

Master!

What's happened?

Why are you back?

They changed the date for marshaling.

Emperor Father summoned me back.

What's happened?

Where's Zhaixing?

Master, it seems to be Yao Ji's mischievous plot while you were out of the city.

She came to see Young Feudal Mistress early this morning.

She said she was decreed by His Majesty to help you two reconcile.

Oh right! She took Young Mistress to visit Madam Duan

and I went along.

After that, I was ordered to buy some items.

When I returned, Young Mistress was gone.

Emperor Father didn't mention it during the morning assembly.

It must be Yao Ji's trick.

It was careless of me to underestimate the enemy.

I'll head to the Grand Diviner Palace at once.

Mo Xiao. Wen Yan.

Get the men to search for Zhaixing within Imperial City.

Hai Die, you'll stay here and wait for updates.

Yes, Master.

- Zhaixing! - Don't be reckless.

You know what will happen if you take one more step forward.

I can kill her at any time.

Don't you dare touch her,

or I will not spare you!

You've become soft for her.

Shut up!

Wolfbone Flower?

Yes, you guessed it right.

You used to shun flowers

and you disliked it the most.

That's why there are no flowers in your room.

But you were too anxious to save her today that you let your guard down.

You fell off the cliff, got seriously injured, and lost your consciousness.

In order to save you, His Majesty made you take the medicine.

But that medicine has left its side effects on your body.

It weakened your body that you might die at any moment.

At that time,

you should know well

that you can't fall in love with a normal girl in this world.

Once the pain makes you lose your mind,

you will hurt anyone.

I intentionally used the Wolfbane Flower against you

to make you see yourself more clearly.

What a pity.

She's not Ma Zhaixing.

She's Hong'er whom I've killed.

You captured her and her father?

Where is Mr. Fang?

He's dead.

I know that you asked Mo Xiao to release them that night.

In order to stop you from making a grave mistake,

I helped you kill them.

Where is Xing'er?

She's safe and sound.

I can return her to you at any time.

What do you really want?

If you still can't get over the fact that I defeated you,

you can tell on me for not executing Hong'er!

You are wrong.

The opponent I want to contend against is not such a useless Prince of Bo.

I want you to turn back into that Prince of Bo whom I like.

That's why I made Hong'er's body look like Ma Zhaixing to lure you here.

If His Majesty finds out that Mo Xiao and you protected Hong'er and her father,

what will happen to him?

What about the other Night Fiends members?

You are the most foolish.

You are digging your own grave and trying to get the Night Fiends killed

because of a woman you shouldn't love.

What do you want?

I want you to be the past Prince of Bo.

To do so, Ma Zhaixing must die.

Give Zhaixing back to me,

and I will do as you say.

It is too late.

She is heading towards death now.

His Majesty! I have a petition to make!

Ma Zhaixing, you belong to the Bo Royal Mansion.

Prince of Bo was ordered to leave the city,

but I have summoned him back not long ago.

Shouldn't he be here to make the petition with you?

This is a serious matter.

I cannot wait any longer.

I'm afraid you will not be happy to know what happened and who were involved in it.

His Highness would have stopped me from making this petition.

Get up and tell me.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

What is the urgent matter?

Go ahead and tell me about it.

I would like to request Your Majesty to reopen the case of Ma Mansion.

What did you say?

Among my father's letters that I brought with me from the Ma Mansion,

there is a letter that the late Lord Duan wrote to him.

Hand it to me.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Lord Duan said in the letter that, more than a year ago,

Second Prince and Prime Minister Jing were gathering allies to try to seize their right to the throne.

Father, who found out about it,

along with several ministers reproached him.

Second Prince got so mad

and secretly swore to get rid of them.

And not long after that,

several ministers were told off. All of them were suspected of treason

and sentenced by Your Majesty.

Lord Duan got more suspicious

that Second Prince and the Jin Army colluded

to kill my father.

So you think Prince of Yun is the mastermind?

Outrageous.

Duan Yanyu said that to mislead people.

Do you actually buy into it?

Your Majesty, Lord Duan said that Father was involved in border security all year round.

He was away most of the time.

Sometimes, he only came home after a year or more.

But leaving your post and returning home must be decreed.

Without a high ranking man as the spy,

how could the murderer's timing be so accurate?
