[The Wolf]

[Episode 2]

[Ma Manor]

If you can treat me, a commandant's illness, [The animals in this scene are all computer graphics]

then you beast haven't lived in vain. [The animals in this scene are all computer graphics]

Commandant Xiahou has been assassinated!

Hurry and give chase! See who did it!

Yes, General.

You two stand guard at the door. We will go chase after him.

Yes!

Father, how could this happen?

Commandant Xiahou was assassinated.

Commandant Xiahou, he is the sworn brother of the emperor!

- Housekeeper Wang! - Here.

How did this happen?

I was just about to serve the commandant

and saw the commandant fighting with the wolf monster.

In a flash, he was strangled to death.

Feudal Master...

Feudal Master, it was all my fault.

I should not have listened to the commandant's words

to go up the mountain and catch a young wolf

for the commandant to drink its blood to treat his illness.

Perhaps it's because of this

that attracted the wolf monster down the mountain

and murdered Commandant.

The wolf monster has come down the mountain?

This matter we cannot conclude is the actions of the wolf monster.

However, the murderer is quite peculiar.

Its behavior is wolf-like, different from ordinary people,

walking on all four limbs on the ground, he saved the young wolf.

With one glance, I can conclude

he is just a young man from the wild.

Father, there were hunters who eye-witnessed the wolf monster

saying he looks both wolf-like and human-like.

This definitely is the wolf monster. There is no mistake.

His Majesty will arrive at Kuizhou City in a few days.

We need to quickly investigate this matter and

find the real murderer before His Majesty arrives.

Adjutant General Ma, quickly arrange some men and horses

with full effects to search and investigate the truth.

This person can evade the guards and enter Ma Manor,

assassinating the Commandant Xiahou who is strong in martial arts,

so his skills must be extraordinary.

You must be careful.

This subordinate will immediately bring troops up the mountain to capture this savage.

You must be cautious.

He is a human but also exhibits the wildness of a wolf.

If we cannot catch the murderer,

our Ma Manor will have no way to answer to His Majesty.

Yes.

Hurry! Prepare to go up the mountain.

- Fengcheng Brother, what happened? - Young Mistress.

Why is there such a large commotion?

Young Mistress, something big has happened in the manor.

The wolf monster from Langshou Mountain has killed the commandant.

We have to immediately catch him to resolve the case.

That's impossible!

We suspect its the actions of the wolf monster

because we saw a young man with the behavior of a wolf.

And his motive for killing the commandant was to save the young wolf pup.

Why is the Young Mistress so anxious?

What does this have to do with her?

Feudal Master,

because of this death, so many problems have arisen.

It's all my fault , I should not have listened to Commandant Xiahou's command

to catch a young wolf for him to eat.

Once we catch the monster, he deserves to be hacked into pieces.

He's not a wolf monster! Stop speaking nonsense!

Zhaixing.

Young Mistress.

Father, there must be a misunderstanding here.

The boy with wolf-like behavior you guys have been talking about, he isn't some monster.

He only appears wolf-like

because he was raised by wolves.

How do you know this,

unless you know him?

He is the friend I wanted to introduce you to.

Now that it's come to this point, I will be honest with you.

The so-called wolf monster was actually a rumor planned and created by me.

Ma Zhaixing, you tricked me!

Hurry and explain.

I originally wanted to tell you the truth after the commandant left.

You–

I learned about hypnotic incense from Uncle Wang

which made people hallucinate, thinking it was a wolf monster

but we didn't want to harm anyone.

I just wanted to protect the wolves

and not let them be harmed by hunters.

Preposterous!

Your matter of creating fake monster rumors, I won't deal with now,

but he killed Commandant Xiahou and is a criminal of the imperial court.

I cannot be lax on this matter.

No!

Father, Wolf Boy definitely would not randomly kill people.

Father, I'm begging you!

Father, I'm begging you! Father!

Don't send troops up the mountain to catch him. He will be scared.

He has only just started trusting in people.

Let me go to the mountains and I'll ask him how things really were, okay?

Be quiet!

All of this is punishment for you teasing me!

That wolf monster undeniably murdered Commandant Xiahou!

Everything was personally witnessed by Father, Uncle Wang,

and many other people!

The ironclad evidence piles up mountain high!

He's right.

Could your own father lie to you?

T-This... Maybe...

Maybe there is some sort of misunderstanding in the middle of this?

Perhaps he may not be a type of evil,

but can you guarantee

he is completely without a beastly nature?

Can you guarantee that, in order to protect that wolf cub,

he would not injure someone, or go as far as killing someone?

I trust in him.

Even though he has beastly instincts,

over the time that I have interacted with him,

he would never harm innocent people.

Zhaixing, have you not messed around enough?

You deliberately spread rumors.

You have already made the entire Kuizhou City into a state of panic!

You also abused the public trust for your personal benefit, lied to your elders,

made the decision to seal off the mountain, and now someone is dead!

You also implicated His Majesty's sworn brother!

Did you know that

this will only bring our Ma Family the fatal calamity of complete annihilation?

Yet at this time,

your position is still so biased like this!

I will not let you drag yourself into the middle of this anymore!

I must capture the wolf monster alive, enforcing the law impartially to deal with him!

If it is as he says it is, I will naturally give him justice!

If he really did murder Commandant Xiahou,

I will definitely let him pay with his life, and prove that our entire Ma family is innocent!

Father.

- Wang Xiang! - Feudal Master.

Take her away!

Father! Father.

- Take her away! - Young Mistress!

- Father! - Let's go.

- Father! - Go!

- Father! - Young Mistress!

Father, he's not a monster! He's merely just

a child that doesn't know anything!

Housekeeper Wang! Let me out!

- Young Mistress ! - Housekeeper Wang! - Young Mistress!

Please just remain in the room and reflect. The situation has gotten out of hand.

Please remain calm.

Housekeeper Wang! Wait a minute!

Can you help me with something?

Can you tell me my father's plans?

Young Mistress, I am afraid I really cannot help this time.

Feudal Master will enforce the law impartially to deal with him.

Housekeeper Wang! Housekeeper Wang, I have not finished talking yet!

Come back!

Housekeeper Wang! Housekeeper Wang!

Has Wolf Boy been injured? Is he frightened?

Housekeeper Wang! Housekeeper Wang, come back!

It's not that I don't trust my father.

But are you guys willing to trust

a child that has been raised by a wolf.

to be more kind and good than you or me?

Is there anyone who is willing to believe?

Let me out.

Open the door! Open the door!

Let me out.

Someone, come!

Find that wolf monster!

It seems that the wolf's den is just up the front!

He is injured! He cannot get far!

There are footprints here!

We must not let him escape this time!

Chase after that sound!

Hurry!

Over there! In front!

Keep up! Hurry!

Over there!

We have caught him!

Over there!

Capture them all in one go!

The wolf pack is here! The wolf pack has come to save him!

Will there be wolf monsters?

Adjutant General, what should we do?

It is just an ordinary wolf!

We have nothing to be afraid of! That wolf monster does not exist!

Wolf packs fear fire! If we get attacked by a wolf pack,

just use fire to retaliate! If the situation is dire,

then shoot them to death! Today, we must capture the wolf monster!

We shall return to report our successful mission!

Yes!

The wolf pack has retreated!

Could it be this wild man can command the wolf pack of Langshou Mountain?

He is not an ordinary wild man! He can actually command a wolf pack!

Archers at the ready!

No!

Little Feng!

Young Mistress, are you all right?

I am fine.

Little Feng, is there any news about Ma Manor capturing Wolf Boy?

No.

But there is a royal decree that His Majesty sent a messenger on a fast horse to bring here, stating that His Majesty is rushing here immediately.

I heard His Majesty also ordered Feudal Master

to be sure to capture Wolf Boy and kill anyone who resists.

I brought this on him. It is all my fault!

I should not have fabricated the legend of the wolf monster.

And even more so should not have brought him down the mountain!

- I brought this on him! - Young Mistress!

Young Mistress, do not keep blaming yourself like this!

Wolf Boy killing someone was not something you could have foreseen,

- nor was it something you wanted to see happen! - There must be another unknown reason for this!

Otherwise, he definitely would not have harmed anyone!

Little Feng, when I gave him the wolf-tooth necklace,

I promised him that I would protect him!

He trusted me that much!

Unless you can prove Wolf Boy's innocence, otherwise, how else can you protect him?

I am just afraid that, before I have discovered the truth, Wolf Boy would have already been murdered!

At the moment, there is only one path we can take!

Little Feng, can you help me?

Little Feng has grown up together with Young Mistress. Young Mistress has never treated me as a servant,

instead, caring for me as if I were your little sister!

For Young Mistress, I could be dealt with by the military law and I would not be afraid!

Good Little Feng! Thank you!

I must go up the mountain.

I need to make Wolf Boy leave Langshou Mountain.

Young Mistress, the Ma Family Army has so many soldiers tracking him down on the mountain.

I think Wolf Boy might have already run away!

No.

When a wolf encounters danger, it will not flee or go into hiding.

What I fear the most is that

he will worry that I will not be able to find him, and will not run away no matter what!

Then what should we do?

We can only be ruthless and force him to leave.

Originally, the wolf pack had intended to attack,

to rescue him but then retreated back.

It was this Wolf Boy

that warned the wolf pack not to create conflict with us.

He would rescue wolf cubs by himself, sacrificing himself to protect his companions.

I heard that this Wolf Boy has affection and a sense of loyalty. I did not believe it at first.

Now, I have really widened my knowledge.

However, he is the assailant who killed Commandant Xiahou after all.

If he had not committed murder, I could guarantee,

if Feudal Master were to meet him, he would praise him for being first-class general material.

It is a shame!

I heard they captured the wolf monster!

That is the wolf monster?

That is him!

Xing'er!

Do not let him escape!

Wolf Boy!

Wolf Boy! Wolf Boy!

Wolf Boy!

Xing'er!

Do not move!

Stand there and wait for me!

How did you get your injuries?

I asked you, how did you get your injuries?

Did you do something wrong again?

Were you disobedient again?

Did you know,

right now, all the officials and soldiers in the city are trying to capture you?

Everyone is sure you killed someone!

You can no longer stay in Kuizhou City!

Tru...

st...

I trust you!

You trust me! We trust in each other!

Do you understand?

I did say that!

Xing'er and Wolf Boy will trust in each other forever.

But, in this moment, so what if I trust you? So what if I do not trust you?

Your life could be in danger at any moment!

Is your life not important?

Go!

Since there is danger,

then leave Kuizhou City! Leave Langshou Mountain!

The further you go, the better!

You do not need to stay here for me!

Listen well!

From this moment forth,

we have nothing to do with each other anymore!

Do you understand?

Do not follow me!

You are not going to leave, right?

I regret it!

I regret becoming friends with you!

I regret bringing you down the mountain!

Do you not know that you are a monster?

How could I be friends with a monster?

Stop joking around!

What if someone were to find out

and think that I am associated with you?

If you still do not leave,

you will just drag me down!

You will implicate me!

Hurry up and get lost!

Get lost!

Wolf Boy...

is not a monster.

I am a human.

Xing'er trusts Wolf Boy.

Xing'er...

protects Wolf Boy.

Do not leave.

Stop deluding yourself!

I became your friend because I was lonely before.

I just wanted to treat you as a playmate.

A playmate raised by a wolf.

How strange! How special!

I don't need you anymore.

Get lost!

Get lost!

Get lost!

If you're still not going to leave,

I will have people catch you.

To catch your wolf mother and your wolf brothers.

Get lost!

Search the mountain! His Majesty will be personally arriving here in a few days!

If we cannot capture the wolf monster, the entire Kuizhou City will be implicated!

Yes! Quickly search!

Wolf Boy, don't come back anymore.

[Ma Manor]

I am useless. I had originally captured the assailant,

but I was neglectful in taking precautions.

I let him escape.

This youngster is different than other people.

I fear he may have godlike strength gifted by the heavens.

Then, I'll accompany you for tomorrow's search.

Father! His Majesty will be here soon.

You shouldn't leave the manor. How about I'll lead the search?

I'll support Brother Fengcheng.

I fought with the wild person before. I know his methods.

Now is the time to choose who to employ. I think that I can be of help.

That's good as well.

This way, you can also take this as an opportunity to get experience.

But... never act alone.

You need to follow Fengcheng's orders.

Yes, Father! Don't worry!

I'll listen to Adjutant General Ma and catch the wild man.

Go get ready.

Young Master, you've become more mature.

You were able to take the initiative and help Feudal Master.

You've forgotten.

Last time, I was spooked by that animal.

If I'm able to catch that beast and cut off his wolf head,

not only can I get awarded merit in front of my father,

and get that girl, Ma Zhaixing, mad as well.

Kill two birds with one stone.

Wolf Boy, whenever I ring this bell while going up the mountains,

you won't appear. Right?

You must've hated me.

♫ Nothing has changed ♫

But don't worry. The most important thing is that you've left Kuizhou City.

♫ You have never given up waiting for me ♫

♫ Looking past the starry night ♫

♫ Your gaze was firm and warm ♫

♫ You wanted to tell me ♫

♫ You will hug me firmly ♫

♫ Even not letting go of tears ♫

♫ Don't let me drift like sand in the wind after being let go ♫

♫ I will hug you tightly ♫

♫ Like the universe opening its arms ♫

♫ Even if I'm not by your side ♫

♫ I have always been guarding ♫

♫ Nothing has changed ♫

♫ Like that star a billion years ago ♫

♫ Still twinkling ♫

Young Mistress, His Majesty will arrive today.

Although Feudal Master allowed you to leave your room to greet them,

but he doesn't want you to bring up your relationship with Wolf Boy.

Or else, it will cause His Majesty to be more suspicious.

He will accuse you.

Don't worry, I won't let my father be worried.

I will help the emperor investigate properly.

I'll think of a way to prove the Wolf Boy's innocence.

Little Feng, what happened? Are you not feeling well?

I'm not sure, either. I don't know what herbs the kitchen used in the meals the previous day.

Whenever I smell that, I get nauseous and want to vomit.

Herbs from the kitchen?

Which one could it be?

I know! It's Li Hu.

Li Hu?

It's okay. Don't worry.

Its smell does cause people to have nausea.

It's just...

Little Feng! I need to go somewhere.

[Ma Estate]

Feudal Master, Adjutant General Ma left quite a while ago.

He will definitely be able to catch that wild person.

It's best if you go back and get some rest.

I'm just worried. If he can't catch the murderer,

then the emperor will be angered towards the citizens of Kuizhou City.

[Chu Kui, Emperor of Yang Kingdom]

Ma Ying!

You're still as skillful as you were back then.

I have to shoot several arrows in succession to take your life.

Greetings to Your Majesty. Long live, Your Majesty!

Long live Your Majesty!

I was not made aware Your Majesty was arriving early,

I was not able to welcome Your Majesty from afar.

- Please, Your Majesty— - Xiahou Yi died in your manor?

- I'm willing to accept the punishment. - Report to me when we go back in.

If you have any fault, I'll decide.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

[Ma Manor]

Young Mistress, what are you doing in Commandant Xiahou's room?

I heard that these were the fighting marks left by the Wolf Boy and Adjutant General.

Young Mistress, Feudal Master has ordered that

no one is allowed to come in here before the emperor's personal investigation.

We should leave now.

Young Mistress, is there a problem with the soup?

No.

This is a very normal nourishing soup.

But this is the brilliance about it.

A savage with his bare hands

was able to enter Ma Manor without being noticed

and also murdered Xiahou Yi.

If you did not witness it,

I wouldn't even believe it.

Your Majesty, please forgive me for my dereliction of duty.

It resulted in such a regretful incident.

I thought the murderer was apprehended.

Unexpectedly, the murderer had great strength.

Not only did he break the giant wooden cage with one hand,

he also managed to escape in an instant.

Is that the truth?

The world is big. It's hard to come across a genius.

I would like to go there and search.

To meet this unique young man with the agility of a wolf.

Ma Ying, get the horse ready and we'll leave immediately.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, please wait!

Stop! Stand back!

I am Ma Ying's daughter, Ma Zhaixing. Greetings, Your Majesty.

Zhaixing, you're being rude. Retreat immediately!

Father, I have something important to report to His Majesty.

You may leave.

Reporting to Your Majesty. This case is unjustified. The wolf boy is innocent.

The murderer is someone else.

Zhaixing, you cannot talk nonsense in front of the emperor.

Ma Ying.

I want to hear from you.

If you have evidence, I will be sure to be fair

and will not let the real criminal remain free and not be prosecuted.

If you are playing around,

I will severely punish you.

I understand.

Stand up and speak clearly.

- Thank you, Your Majesty. - Zhaixing, get up!

Your Majesty,

the night that Commandant Xiahou was assassinated,

he had taken Li Hu and ginseng soup.

Those are regular herbs.

Is there anything odd about it?

This is where the assailant's cleverness lies.

Since these two are not poisonous,

there won't be any suspicions. However, if both are used at the same time

plus with adept knowledge in medicine dosage,

the commandant will suffer from blood flow disruption and lose all his strength.

- Housekeeper Wang Xiang. - Here.

In the manor, you are most familiar with medicine.

Just now, what the Feudal Princess said, was it true?

Yes.

If Commandant Xiahou really got poisoned,

there will be poisoning evidence on the body.

In order for the assailant to avoid that, he will use medicine

that will not show the poisoning evidence on the body.

But just enough to lose the ability to defend oneself.

At this moment, the assailant who originally may not have been able to overpower the commandant,

can use this opportunity to strangle him.

The murderer already knew that Commandant's death was discovered.

The Ma Family and the emperor will search for the real culprit.

Then, the culprit deliberately mystified the death,

by using Kuizhou's City legend about the Wolf Monster.

He made fake wolf marks that mislead people and made them misunderstand

that these were actions of the wolf monster.

The culprit must've not anticipated that it would be turned true and attracted the Wolf Boy.

What happened next was what my father saw.

You speak so surely.

So exactly who did this?

The culprit must be someone from the Ma family who is responsible for the medicated meal.

The Ma manor has fault in employing such people.

May I ask Your Majesty, for Father,

to investigate everyone who was in the kitchen that night.

Also, the people whom Commandant Xiahou met with.

The suspects who meet the criteria should only be 10 or so and we can further investigate to find the real culprit.

Your Majesty, I think my daughter's words are making some sense.

I will immediately send people to investigate this properly.

Men!

No need for the trouble!

I almost deceived every one of you.

I didn't think I would lose to a little girl.

Housekeeper Wang, why is it you?

It is me.

Bring him down!

Kneel!

In the whole Ma Manor, other than me,

who else understands about medicine and can have control over the meals?

Wang Xiang! You!

How could you be so cruel to harm a member of royalty and

implicate my Ma Manor into unfavorable conditions.

Xiahou Yi, that swindler.

I have an absolutely irreconcilable grudge against him.

My only regret is killing him so late.

XiaHou Yi and you have a grudge?

Back then, when the previous dynasty fell, it was agreed

if the Li family (of the Tang Dynasty) steps aside for you,

then you would not kill off the Li Clan.

Who would have guessed Xiahou, that evil bastard, guessed your real desires

and had the whole Li Clan locked in the palace.

Everyone was killed in the royal family.

If that swindler didn't die,

then it would be God being blind.

My plan was

to kill off that swindler first.

And then to let all people in the Ma Manor

to be implicated and suffer.

Your Majesty, this subject is at fault, I unknowingly took in a criminal of the last dynasty.

Please punish us, Your Majesty.

Ma Ying, you didn't even investigate. You almost caused trouble upon yourself.

Although the Xiahou Yi case is resolved,

however, you cannot escape punishment.

I want you to work to compensate for this crime for the rest of your life.

But for this person,

you should know what to do next.

I understand.

I will immediately take Your Majesty back to the palace.

No need.

You better check on the members of your household.

- Ma Ying. -Yes, Your Majesty!

Your daughter is not too bad.

She is the green born of blue, but beats blue. (T/N: the younger surpasses the elder)

Take care, Your Majesty.

His Majesty is going back.

Take care, Your Majesty.

Zhaixing, it's my fault for misunderstanding Wolf Boy.

Hurry, find your elder brother, and stop the arrest!

Yes.

But... I'm afraid Wolf Boy has long left Langshou Mountain ...

What if Wolf Boy didn't leave?

I'm afraid they might hurt him by accident.

Hurry! Hurry up and go save the Wolf Boy!

Hurry up!
