[Episode 12]

- Are you crazy!? - Nainai!

- Calm down! Calm down! - You don't know anything.

- Nainai, can you calm down? - Why does it matter to you if I live or die?

- Nainai! - Let go of me!

Let go of me!

Calm down! Calm down!

What's the use of calming down?

Nainai! I don't care what you think.

If you want to die, you will have to push me down first!

Hey!

- Ah... Ahhh! - Ahhhh.

- Are you okay? - Nainai...

let's sit down first.

Nainai, I may not know much

but I think I understand a little.

What do you know?

You keep saying you want to go back.

Is it back to your world?

Now you know?

Nainai, you are knowledgeable.

Is that world of yours really that good?

Much better than what you have here.

There's no iPhone here, no sanitary pads,

no wifi, no cars...

Who would want to stay here?

But before you were living just fine.

That was in the past!

Before I thought it was just some free ancient touring trip!

But now? It has become a life sentence.

And a life sentence is worse than a death sentence.

It's this stupid ring! It's all your fault! I never want to wear you again!

Nainai, even though it's broken, you should be able to get it fixed.

Nainai, what were the "cars" you talked about in your world?

They're just things you pump gas into

and drive really fast.

Something that can carry people.

That can carry people? Isn't that like our donkey carriage?

Don't bring up "donkey!"

All right, all right! I won't!

How I wish I could just kill that donkey!

I swear I will cook and eat him! Stop bringing up the donkey!

I won't mention it! I won't mention it!

Nainai! Then what was the "iPhone" you talked about?

iPhone is something you charge and then you can post messages so that everyone can find you.

The thing that can find you... pigeon! Our (carrier) pigeons can find you!

I don't want to talk to you! Don't let me see you! I don't want to talk to you!

Nainai, there's still me, Song Qi, here.

But you're Song Qi, not Manager Shen.

Although you are way cuter than him,

I still want to see Manager Shen,

even if he doesn't give me a penny.

Then I'll give you ten million taels.

Nainai, I know you think that you belong in your world and not ours,

but since you're here, you still need to live your life.

Plus, can you really bear to leave the Third Master?

In my eyes, he can't bear to part with you either.

Last night, after you had a big fight he was really upset.

He drank a lot of wine with me.

Really?

Nainai, I know you're sad since you can't go back,

but if you go back then we'll be sad.

Thank you, Song Qi.

Nainai, why are you suddenly calling me Song Qi?

Aren't you Song Qi?

I'm already used to you calling me Little Manager Shen.

Nainai, as long as you're happy, I can be your Little Manager Shen forever!

I, Manager Shen, will give you ten million taels!

Then I'll give you another ten million.

Nainai, our fancies will definitely come true! (wai wai - almost equivalent to "dream")

I must take things as they come then.

I'm happy!

I'm joyful!

I'm so hungry...

I want to cook lots of yummy and good food!

- Lots and of yummy, good food! - I want to eat food!

Fifty years ago, Ximin's barbaric tribes invaded Huiyan Pass with 800,000 soldiers.

The Imperial Court raised and sent an army to fight them off, but they did not have enough soldiers.

So they recruited mercenaries. The two armies crossed paths at Black Wind Fortress.

In the end, our troops won despite being outnumbered and overthrew the uprising.

You once said that Black Wind belonged to the Imperial Court before.

After the victory, Black Wind slowly became forgotten.

Until many years later, when it rose up again in the martial arts world.

What are all of these, Eldest Brother?

Open one and take a look.

Such a well kept secret room but there is only plain white paper over here.

If these were switched to bank notes that would be better.

These plain white papers are worth more than bank notes.

Warm it over the fire.

"The eighth year of Yongxing's rule, April 9th.

Yan Zhongtian received 36,000 taels of silver."

"The ninth year of Yongxing's rule, May 1st .

Liu Lianxiong got 5,200 taels of silver."

Why are you smiling, Third Brother?

I just realized that Black Wind's salt business is not as simple and easy.

That's why I say bank notes are not much.

All of these are what we are truly trying to protect.

That shelf is dedicated to your father-in-law, Ye Binghuai.

Do you want to take a look?

I'm disgusted every time I hear his name.

Is that so?

"Three months worth of expenses have already taken up seventy percent of the income."

"Gifts are given in February and taxes are done in May."

So, no wonder selling salt is not enough to cover our expenses.

We sell salt illegally, too.

Selling salt illegally is a crime punishable by death!

That's why we need an official salt license first.

Why must you tell me these things?

Because you are Sir Fuyi.

Prince Fuyi is the person who fights injustice and helps those who are injured and weak.

Sir Fuyi...

Prince Fuyi does not interfere in the matters of the underworld!

Then he is an idiot! If I remember correctly,

someone once told me that

the world is never simply black and white, so why base assumptions off of one person?

Eldest Brother, you do remember clearly what I've said to you before.

Black Wind Fortress's brothers and I were born of low status,

unlike Third Brother, you were born from a wealthy family

and you're used to interacting with officials.

In the future, if Black Wind Fortress could be given to you to manage, I would rest in peace.

- Eldest Brother... - Minister Liu, who came last time,

is the subordinate of Minister Yan of the Salt Division.

I have already spoken to him about the new salt trades.

Next, you will be handling both the official and underground salt businesses.

But this is very important to Black Wind Fortress.

You don't agree?

It's not that.

It's just that since you think so highly of me,

in the future, I may not have it so easy.

I know what you're worried about. Sheng Wu is my good brother

but with his temperament and attitude, he's unlikely to achieve grand things. I know that very well.

You don't need to worry about this again.

Eldest Brother, I heard that you collect precious gems from all over the world.

Are they hidden in this secret room, too?

Don't you see it?

So you don't really like pearls?

Perhaps not.

Perhaps, I don't want you to see it.

Ye Jiayao, oh, Ye Jiayao.

Do you really want to become someone who cooks every day

and wait for your husband to come home? That kind of woman in the ancient era?

Perhaps, on the next night of the full moon,

I will be able to use my ring again.

Frankly, Stupid Donkey treats me rather well.

But if it were back to the present era, Li Yifeng, Yang Yang,

and Wu Yifan are still better looking than him.

What is this?

Map of Black Wind Fortress?

What are you doing?

Hey.

Why is there a map of Black Wind Forest in there?

I'm the Third Master of Black Wind Fortress. Is it strange for a map to be there?

But why is it hidden in there?

It's my stuff. I can place it anywhere I want.

This is not right. Are you hiding something from me?

You cooked a lot again. Let's eat.

Stop changing the topic.

I knew it. When you were playing Werewolf, I found it strange.

- Are you an uncover agent? - What is that?

- A spy. - Are you crazy?

You are getting anxious. You must be one. Who sent you here? Which sect? The government or some other division?

None of them. Let's eat.

Why are we eating?

Aren't people like you very unworldly?

Why am I so unlucky?

What now?

I originally came here for leisure.

In the end, I can't go back and encountered a husband who is a special agent.

Will you cause my death? I haven't lived long enough.

Also... Xia Chunyu is not your real name. Right?

You are not Xia Chunyu. What is your real name?

The name is real.

What about the rest?

What do you mean?

What is your mission? Who is your superior?

It's best that you know less about this.

Just pretend you never opened the brush holder.

You can't talk to anyone about this either.

What if I do?

It's better that you don't.

You don't tell me anything. How can I believe you?

Didn't you say that you were waiting for me to eat?

The food is getting cold. Let's eat now.

Who wants to eat with you?

If I eat with you, I will lose my life.

Yao Yao! Stop there!

Why are you so anxious? What if you alert your enemies?

I don't want to continue waiting.

But it's not the right time now.

Third Sister-in-law.

Do you know that I'm now just like the wolf in Werewolf?

I keep lying to others. It doesn't feel good.

You are not really regarding him as your brother, right?

I don't want to regard him as my brother.

What are you afraid of then?

I'm here to tell you,

if something happens to me, take care of Yao Yao for me.

Yao Yao?

It's that Ye Jinxuan.

I understand.

Thank you.

Between you and Yao Yao, have there always been words of gratitude?

You have no right to be jealous.

Why are you secretly taking actions again?

It's because she saw the map in my brush holder.

What?

Don't worry. She won't say anything.

You trust her that much?

She won't harm me.

It doesn't mean that if she doesn't have the heart to harm anyone, she wouldn't do it.

Looks like there is only one way to ensure that she keeps this a secret.

What is it?

Only dead people can keep secrets.

No way.

- What are you saying? - Am I wrong in saying this?

Do you have a clear understanding of my matters then?

You...

I thought that, among everyone in Black Wind Fortress,

you trust me the most.

Don't think like this. We will always be friends.

What about Ye Jinxuan then?

With the present situation, if you fall for her, you'll have an impediment.

But didn't you tell me that when we are acting,

we must show true feelings so that others won't find out?

Who's there?

Who's out here?

Third Master, what's wrong with you?

Have more drinks.

All right.

Let's go back. Don't let others ruin your mood.

So, they are only just acting.

Subbing and Timing brought to you by the Ancient Modern Chef Team @Viki

The mechanisms have been reset.

Hurry! Catch up!

Hurry!

Sir!

I'm here to help you.

- Search carefully! - Yes.

I'll go distract them.

Who's there? Stop right there!

Go after him!

Yes!

You even said it yourself that we're acting so why should I be undercover along with you?

Do I not want to live?

Who's there?

It's me.

Wearing this in the middle of the night, did you kill someone and cause a fire?

Hurry! Everyone follow!

Why are you nervous? I thought you knew how to act pretty well?

Starting now, behave and listen to me.

- A few of you stay behind to stand guard at the entrance. - Yes.

Where is he?

Husband.

Sheng Wu, what are you doing?

You think you can trick me by doing this?

It's so loud out there, you two didn't hear it?

What noise is there out there?

Aiya, just keep acting.

Acting, acting, acting out what?

Whatever's happening outside, what does it have to do with us?

- Can't you see what we're doing? - You--

Husband, I'm scared.

It's fine.

Second Brother, Yao Yao doesn't understand. I'm sorry.

Let's go. Let's go.

Husband. Husband. Husband, let's continue.

They left. I'm sorry. I hurt you.

- What exactly did you go to do earlier? - It has nothing to do with you.

If it has nothing to do with me, why should I act for you?

Are you going to push me away with that simple excuse?

You don't need to know.

You just need to know that no matter what I'll protect you completely.

Forget it. In the future, just save these words for Liu Yiyi.

They're useless to me.

What does this have to do with Liu Yiyi?

Then, who exactly are you?

Is this important? None of this is important.

What's important is that I'm your husband. I'm your stupid donkey.

No. You're not my stupid donkey.

I'm the stupid donkey!

To me, have you ever been sincere? I finally understand.

You're perhaps just using me to get news about the Yongcui Pavilion to win Bai Chongye's acceptance.

Asking me to lie to Sheng Wu, concealing your identity as an undercover spy.

You're being this loud, are you afraid that they can't hear you?

You, shut up!

Stop messing around!

You bastard!

Yao Yao! What I'm going to say next, I'll only say it once.

I am obviously undercover. Whether I'm using you or I truly like you,

these aren't important.

What's important is that if you really want to survive

you must listen to me.

Do you understand?

You have to trust me.

Have you ever trusted me?

- Yao Yao, I-- - Leave.

Leave!

Who are you?

It's you.

Greetings, Your Highness.

What Highness? Don't talk nonsense.

Your Highness, I was sent here by Prince Yu.

Aren't you the person that Bai Chongye assigned to be next to Ye Binghuai?

But actually, the one I truly serve

is Prince Yu.

I didn't think that His Highness had soldiers in the Black Wind Fortress.

Probably those who have been a spy once,

have to be a spy forever.

I originally wanted to stay by Bai Chongye to slowly gain his trust,

but I didn't think that the method he used to trust me was to actually assign me next to Ye Binghuai.

And so my mission was cut.

So tonight, it was you who saved me. And that day...

Sheng Wu has always wanted to find you making a mistake.

The lanterns here are just traps.

Back then, Bai Chongye was already on to you so I was forced

to use your name to ask Miss Ye to come out.

But right now, we can't use Jinxiu Square anymore.

In the future, if you want to find Prince Yu,

just go to the Hongye Gambling Center.

All right.

Thank you. You're hurt?

It's fine.

Has Sheng Wu found out yet?

Not yet.

It's all my fault.

I was too reckless.

I received news that

Yan Zhongtian from the salt division is the Crown Prince's crony.

For the past few years, he's the middleman for Bai Chongye and the Crown Prince in their collaboration.

Bai Chongye has a lot of secret information about the Ministers in the Imperial Court.

Yan Zhongtian has the Crown Prince's secret letter now.

It can confirm that the Crown Prince colluded with Black Wind Fortress in the revolt.

Thus, Your Highness, you must obtain that secret letter.

Yan Zhongtian?

It's getting late. You should go back now or others will become suspicious.

Take care.

There is a way to ensure that she keeps the secret.

What is it?

Only dead people can keep secrets.

Didn't you tell me that when we are acting, we must show true feelings

so that we won't be discovered by others?

Why should I act with you?

Sister-in-law.

Eldest Brother.

Are you looking for me?

I heard that you've revived the business of Yongcui Pavilion and your contributions cannot go unnoticed.

I'm really not worthy of such praise. It's my duty.

Your duty?

I can understand when a woman is good at cooking,

but your unique way of managing a business is very impressive.

But you are a sheltered young lady.

How did you manage to create so many unique business ideas?

I—

Why is he asking this? Is he trying to test me?

- Sister-in-law. - Huh?

Eldest Brother, there's something you don't know.

We women often become smarter when we get jealous.

Actually, I was ignorant back then.

- My Stupid Donkey-- - Stupid Donkey?

That's Xia Chunyu.

He flirts with that Liu Yiyi at Yongcui Pavilion every day.

I couldn't stand the sight of them anymore.

So I kept thinking, the best way to handle Xia Chunyu,

was to manage Yongcui Pavilion well.

That's a wonderful idea! Now I understand why Third Brother likes you.

All women think the same way.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to ask you.

Why did you come here today?

Oh, I wanted you to try my mooncakes.

Snow skin mooncakes?

I came here to ask you if you'd like to try them.

I can go over to Yongcui Pavilion to make you some.

What was I babbling about? Didn't I forget what I came here for?

Perfect timing! I was just about to make a trip to Yongcui Pavilion, too.

I heard that Werewolves is a fun card game.

So, Eldest Brother, you know about the Werewolves game, too?

In Nan'an City, who doesn't know about this game?!

So do you know how to play it?

I know part of it, but I'm not totally clear about the whole game.

How about... I ask you a few questions.

If... just if mind you...

on your Werewolf team, a Spirit shows up.

This Spirit, he's a werewolf, but at the same time, he is not a werewolf.

He's actually the 3rd force in the Werewolves game.

In order to win, he will have to betray his teammates.

At that time, if and when you discover him,

will you quickly eliminate him?

Interesting!

I think I would.

But the Werewolves team really needs this Spirit.

If you eliminate him, you will lose a great fighter.

He can help you by pointing out the commoners. What's most important is that his position is not that stable.

The Spirit that you are talking about,

is really a spy, isn't it?

I think it is.

So the reason that you are here today,

is that you do have something to tell me, right?

No. You got me wrong, Eldest Brother... you misunderstood me.

No, I don't think so. You lingered outside the door for a long time and didn't want to come in.

You said you wanted to give me mooncakes but you didn't bring them with you.

And when I said I wanted to play the Werewolves game then you talked to me of something else.

If I'm guessing it right,

the thing that you wanted to talk about,

was related to a spy, correct?

But then I think, your stay here at Black Wind Fortress hasn't been all that long.

And you don't know that many people. The only person you could think of being a spy should be...

who would that be?

No such a person.

Something happened that night in the secret chamber and after that Sheng Wu took people to search all the rooms.

And he tried to find out who went out at midnight.

When I think about it now, even if you and Third Brother were together, it can't prove that

he didn't also go out.

Therefore, I'm thinking, if I'm guessing it right,

the person who you think is the spy,

should be...

Xia Chunyu, right?

Yao Yao, I brought all the food you love from Yongcui Pavilion.

Where is she?

My map.

What? No way!

Tell me.

Even though you are his wife, I don't have to kill you.

Eldest Brother... you—

Tell me.

Right or wrong?

Don't ask me that, I don't know!

Chen Yang... you—

He was originally sent by Black Wind Fortress to spy on your father.

But now he has become a spy in Black Wind Fortress.

But what I want to say is he has nothing to do with what happened last night.

I just want you to see the ending for being a spy.

Now, you tell me,

last night Xia Chunyu—

Ye Jinxuan!

Are you crazy? Telling Eldest Brother all that nonsense!

Third Brother, don't worry, she didn't tell me anything.

Eldest Brother, this is something between me and my wife. Please forgive us.

I already got the spy who entered the secret chamber.

That's not what you said earlier!

It was just a joke, don't take it as real.

- Chen Yang. - That's right! It's Chen Yang.

I showed you the secret chamber and something happened just right after.

Of course, I would suspect you, but luckily Sheng Wu caught Chen Yang.

He owed a gambling debt, therefore he tried to steal the pearl from the secret chamber to pay off his debt.

All the evidence fits and he's admitted to it.

I thought that was the end of it.

But because of Sister-in-law's interference, there seem to be some new suspicious points.

Third Brother, where were you last night?
