=Dance of the Phoenix=

(Episode 21)

He often plays petty tricks.

Is that so?

Spend enough time with him and you'll see.

Why did you gather us here

in the middle of the night?

I simply followed an order.

You may ask the Holy Queen

for details.

Alright.

This way, please.

Spiritual Elder Fang,

why are we summoned here

in the middle of the night?

I'm not sure.

Let's go and find out.

Where are the others?

On my way here,

I saw other people coming.

But I didn't see Supervisor Wu.

I wonder where he went to buy wine this time.

It's not the first time he has done so.

I'm used to it.

Come on. Let's get inside and have a look.

After you.

Wait.

My Lady, where are you going?

Library Pavilion.

Why are you going to Library Pavilion?

To read books.

And try to find clues.

It's Chinese Valentine's Day.

You should at least have a night out.

The man I waited for didn't show up anyway.

Forget it.

Qiu Ling,

after you are done here,

you should go out.

Maybe

you'll find your future husband outside.

As I expected, nobody is celebrating Chinese Valentine's Day

with Old Man Wu.

Since he is here now,

I should go upstairs and visit this lonely old man.

It should be fine.

Old Man Wu.

Dean!

Dean!

Dean!

Dean!

No...

Look at that.

Help!

Dean!

-Dean! -What is that sound?

Let's get inside and have a look.

Help!

Follow me.

Dean!

You, go upstairs for a look.

Yes.

What happened?

I didn't do this to him.

I didn't do it.

Take her with us.

What are you doing?

I didn't do it.

It has nothing to do with me.

Stop struggling.

Tell me.

Why did you murder Dean Ning?

I didn't murder him.

When I reached that place,

Dean Ning was dead already.

We had our people investigate in the academy.

Someone saw you lurking

around Library Pavilion two hours before the murder.

That's slander!

Who said so?

I want to confront this person.

Tell us everything you saw.

Two hours ago,

when I was waiting for someone near Library Pavilion,

I saw...

I saw Feng Wu enter Library Pavilion.

That's not true.

My maid can testify for me.

I stayed in the female room the whole time.

I never went out.

Of course your maid

would defend you.

Why would you slander me?

I didn't slander you.

I really saw her.

You are dismissed.

Now

will you confess or not?

I didn't do it.

Why should I confess?

How stubborn.

After we get to the bottom of this,

you'll be handed over to the academy for punishment.

I didn't do it!

So, when you reached Library Pavilion,

Dean Ning was dead already?

Yes.

I just heard

that Dean Ning was going to consult the books in Library Pavilion.

And I wanted to follow him and see what would happen.

I didn't expect this to happen.

Then it occurred to me

that I might remove the thorn in your side.

As it happened, Feng Wu was there.

I'm sure she can't defend herself now.

You call her the thorn in my side.

But she is also the thorn in your side.

I was planning

to use the Holy Sovereign's illness as an excuse

to remove the hidden obstacles in Junwu Academy.

Now the opportunity has come.

We shall have a clean sweep.

Crown Prince will take care of the Holy Sovereign in his bedroom tonight.

If you are free tonight,

go there and stay with him.

But His Highness Jun seemed resolute last time.

I'm afraid...

That doesn't matter.

Just keep close watch on him.

Don't let him sabotage my plan.

Yes.

Feng Wu?

No way.

I don't believe

Feng Wu would do such a thing, either.

But

when I met her again in the Border City,

she felt totally different to me.

Feng Wu is no match

for Dean Ning.

She couldn't have killed him.

Indeed.

But when Feng Wu fought me during the match,

she showed an exceptional amount of spirit energy.

We can't be sure

if there is a grand scheme behind her.

What you said

was just your speculation.

But all

Great Spiritual Masters of Junwu Academy

was summoned to Xuanwu Hall

after the Holy Sovereign fell ill.

Feng Wu is the only person who appeared at the scene.

She is the most likely suspect.

Where is Feng Wu?

In the detention room.

Waiting for interrogations.

I'll ask her about it.

How dare you stop me?

Your Highness Jun.

I know you and Feng Wu are close.

But under these circumstances,

you'd better not stand up for her.

After we get to the bottom of this,

we can decide what to do with her.

Yeah.

Your Highness,

you are the heir of Junwu Clan.

You shoulder the responsibility of protecting the people.

Please act with caution.

On the Holy Queen's order,

I must not let you leave.

Your Highness,

forgive me.

Why are you still here?

The Holy Queen permitted me

to stay and help you.

Didn't I make myself clear?

You made yourself very clear.

But a girl

is better at taking care of people.

If I'm that big an eyesore to you,

feel free to go aside and rest.

She murdered Dean Ning?

Impossible.

Absolutely impossible.

Feng Wu would never

do such a thing.

We all know she wouldn't do that.

But all the evidence points to her.

What we think doesn't matter.

Where is His Highness Jun

at this critical moment?

He is probably trapped in Junwu Divine Hall.

This thing involves a lot of people.

My grandfather and teachers

were summoned to Xuanwu Hall.

I haven't heard anything from them.

We can't just await our doom.

Take it easy.

We can come up with something.

We'll find a solution.

Where on earth is Wu?

She is held

in the academy's detention room.

It's said the detention room

is full of charms suppressing spirit energies.

Feng Wu must be feeling awful

in there.

Young Lady.

Wu.

How are you?

What are you doing here?

What else?

I'm rescuing you.

I can't leave.

Leaving now

will make it harder to clear my name.

But it happened so strangely.

If we can't find any evidence,

they will no doubt pin the murder

on you.

It'll be too late to run then.

Anyway,

I just can't leave.

Why are you so stubborn?

Take this to Jun Linyuan.

You two must discuss

to clear my name.

If I leave now,

I'll get my mom, Qiu Ling,

and you guys

in trouble.

Wait for me.

Cheer up!

You look dispirited. It's unseemly.

Yes.

Someone broke into the hall. Catch the intruder!

Stay here to protect the Holy Sovereign. I'll check it out.

Stop!

Yu Mingye.

What are you doing here?

I came for you.

Your Highness Jun,

the Holy Sovereign is feeling unwell.

At this critical moment,

Darknight Court's Young Master barged into the Divine Hall.

I think

he is up to no good.

He is my friend.

He broke into the Divine Hall and hurt the guards.

You'd be better off without a friend like him.

The Holy Sovereign is seriously ill

and the academy is struck by changes.

I must perform my duty.

Take him away.

Wait.

Your Majesty.

You are awake.

How are you feeling?

I had a good sleep.

Now I'm feeling much better.

I was lucky that the Crown Prince and Qingluan took care of me.

It's my duty.

You said

he

was your friend?

Yes.

Good.

Good.

You finally have a friend

other than Xuan Yi and Feng Xun.

Good.

Though Darknight Court's cultivation method

runs counter to

Junwu Clan's cultivation method,

he barged into the hall to see you.

It proves the unusual nature

of your friendship.

Very well.

I'm alright now.

You may go.

Your Majesty.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Congratulations on your recovery.

I'll report to the Holy Queen right now.

Have you heard?

Dean Ning has been murdered.

And the murderer is Feng Wu.

Gosh.

I can't believe she is such a lunatic.

Yeah.

What are you babbling about?

You have no evidence. Don't start rumors.

The whole academy knows about it. It must be true.

She is the reason that

our classes are suspended and we are waiting until further notice.

We can't even go home.

You must be the person

who spread the rumor that Feng Wu is the murderer.

Don't accuse people when you have no evidence.

You're so eager to defend Feng Wu?

Why?

Are you her accomplice?

You...

Don't waste your breath on her.

Let's go.

You just said we were friends.

Did I hear it wrong?

Can you please forget it? I'm feeling sick.

If not for Feng Wu's sake,

I would have ordered them to catch you.

Now you show your true colors, you hypocrite.

What's your plan?

You end up seeking my help.

I have a plan.

But I need your cooperation.

Dean Ning

was an outstanding cultivator of Junwu Clan when he was young.

How could this happen?

I heard that someone attempted to poison the Holy Sovereign.

What?

If this goes on,

Junwu Clan's foundation will be shaken.

Yeah.

Folks,

I came with good news.

Dean Ning has revived.

How is Dean Ning?

Dean Ning is resting to recuperate in Wenyuan Pavilion.

After he wakes up,

the truth will surface.

Don't disturb Dean Ning these days.

Good to know he survived.

The Dean was severely wounded.

But fortunately, his vital organs weren't hurt.

Let him rest for a few days and he'll wake up.

Thank you, doctor.

I can't believe your petty tricks

actually worked.

Of course.

When the murderer learned that his target survived,

he would come here to deliver the final blow.

It's a widely known fact about fighting.

You don't even know that?

I can teach you if you want to learn.

Enough.

Seize him.

Darknight Court's move.

Fire Wielding Spell.

Watch out.

Celestial Palace's move.

Who are you?

This guy is just powerful.

We are no match for him unless we unite.

Supervisor Wu.

What happened?

Now

I'm done keeping secrets.

That's right.

I killed Dean Ning.

I'll give an explanation

to Junwu Academy.

What do you want?

Bring Feng Wu to Library Pavilion to meet me.

I need to talk to her.

Feng Wu?

I knew Feng Wu was your accomplice.

Old Man Wu.

What are you doing now?

Get out.

Have you brought Feng Wu here?

Are you okay?

We don't know what it is like inside.

I'll enter Library Pavilion instead of you.

He only wanted to see me.

You must not go.

Supervisor Wu.

I'm here.

Release the hostage.

Wu Youdao,

you are not getting out alive.

Guards,

get in there!

No!

All the books written in the past century

are stored in Library Pavilion.

If you storm Library Pavilion,

the books will be damaged.

What do you think

we should do?

We'll depend on Miss Feng Wu for now.

Supervisor Wu,

I won't bring any weapons.

Can I enter Library Pavilion with Feng Wu?

Crown Prince of Junwu Clan,

you are of high status.

Don't you worry this might be my trap?

I don't care.

I'm going with you.

I'm going too.

It's unnecessary for Darknight Court's Young Master

to come up here.

If His Highness Jun is worried about Feng Wu,

he may come up here with Feng Wu.

Your Highness Jun.

Your Highness.

It has been 35 years.

Yunniang.

All this

is finally coming to a close.

Supervisor Wu,

what is all this about?

Her hair white, her dress black, the goddess

does an ethereal sword dance, her form as light as a leaf.

The poem in the painting

refers to the only female teacher of Junwu Academy,

Sima Yunniang.

She is my first sword fighting teacher.

I remember her.

I see you hold your friends dear.

Stop beating around the bush.

You couldn't have called us here

to appreciate a painting and poem with you.

Supervisor Wu,

did you kill Dean Ning or not?

Do you want to

talk about Sima Yunniang?

You are smart.

Feng Wu,

you

are impatient.

That's right.

I killed Ning Shien.

I'd dreamed of killing him for tens of years.

I refrained for most of my life.

Then I finally had my chance.

Last night,

he entered Library Pavilion alone

to consult medical books for the Holy Sovereign.

After all these years,

you still haven't moved on.

Old Man Wu!

Old Man Wu!

35 years have gone by.

He held no regard

for what he had done.

He took everything from me

and asked me why I hadn't moved on.

What kind of feud

did you have with Dean Ning?

Yunniang once gave you sword fighting lessons.

I'm sure you know what happened to her.

Her opinions disagreed with those of the academy.

So she resigned and came to cultivate at Library Pavilion.

Ten years ago,

a big fire in Library Pavilion

took her life.

Yunniang punished the evil and wicked creatures

and pursued her studies all her life.

In the end, she died a miserable death

in Junwu Academy.

Her corpse was never found.

It seems that Supervisor Wu had an unusual relationship

with your first sword fighting teacher.

What does all this

have to do with Dean Ning?

What if I tell you

the Dean's position

originally belonged to me?

You...

The invitation letter was meant for me.

I should have been the Dean of Junwu Academy.

I've always been willing to trust you with my life.

How could you do this to me?

Youdao,

I know you are upset.

But think about it. You have no background.

There are so many cultivators

from prestigious families at Junwu Academy.

They would never respect you.

We finally had the chance

to realize our long-time dream.

I didn't want our efforts to be wasted.

You make it sound so decent.

Fine.

I'd like to see

if you can keep your Dean's position

after I disclose

the truth.

If you do that,

our long-time dream

will never be realized.

Let's go there.

-Okay. -Okay.

I hold a position in Junwu Clan.

Let's have a rest.

You may not want to admit it,

but it's my advantage.

My position

granted me the opportunity

to make Yunniang the first-ever female teacher

of Junwu Academy.

You know it's what she had always wanted.

If you were the Dean,

could you do the same?

Youdao,

I know it's unfair for you.

I beg you to stay

and join me

in helping the young people realize their dreams

and protecting more civilians.

Then

I declined his offer.

I didn't even say goodbye to Yunniang.

I adventured on Qianyuan Continent alone.

One day, I found Mu Jiuzhou's manuscript

by chance.

The manuscript contained detailed records

of the spells and moves of all sects.

Then

I took great pains to cultivate

and became a legend on Qianyuan Continent.

I revisited this place many years later,

only found myself furious and eager to take revenge.

You hate Dean Ning.

You hate Junwu Academy.

You hate Junwu Clan.

You poisoned the Holy Sovereign.

He didn't do that.

He could do a sucker-punch

to someone.

But he would never

poison an innocent person.

From what I know about him,

he is cunning,

but he is not vicious.

I launched a sneak attack.

Isn't that vicious?

Stop acting like

a nefarious monster.

Do you want to be wronged?

Supervisor Wu,

what is done is done

and it doesn't look like you want to flee,

you might as well get down with us.

Maybe

the Holy Sovereign and the academy

will forgive and pardon you.

Forgive?

Why would I want them to forgive me?

Don't you want to know

why I summoned

you here?

Feng Wu is Mu Jiuzhou's disciple.

She is basically my schoolmate.

I got a favor and learned from him.

I wouldn't hurt his disciples.

So you knew all along.

Master asked me

not to tell anyone about this.

Crown Prince value friendship

and you are also Yunniang's student.

I also wouldn't hurt you

Fate plays cruel jokes on people.

Today is the anniversary of Yunniang's death.

It's time to end all this.

I cast a spell on the secret chamber.

You can't use your spirit energy down there.

I hope you'll be found

after the dust settles.

What is taking them so long?

Old Man Wu.

I'm going to destroy

Junwu Academy.

If you are innocent, go away.

Don't try to stop me.

Junwu Academy

is the den of death.

Yunniang,

all this will end soon.

After I destroy this place,

I'll keep you company in the netherworld.

Seize him!

Go away.

Old Man Wu,

don't let your hatred control you.

Stop now.

Your mistakes are still redeemable.

Old Man Fang, don't try to talk me around.

I have made up my mind.

I really can't use my spirit energy here.

How come Library Pavilion has a chamber like this?

It's said

Master Mu created a secret cultivation chamber

for himself when he was

starting Junwu Academy.

Can this be his secret chamber?

Why are you staring at me?

We must hurry up and find an exit

in order to stop Old Man Wu.

So, you are really Master Mu's disciple?

Kind of.

Why didn't you tell me?

If people knew

someone untalented like me

was Master Mu's disciple,

his reputation would be damaged.

So you did all this

to wake up Master Mu.

Yes.

I wanted to tell you.

But I feared I'd cause greater trouble

if I didn't explain things well.

Do you blame me?

Of course not.

Some time ago, I noticed that someone attempted

to make trouble when the energy barrier was damaged.

I could only do my best to bring the situation under control.

I didn't know how to solve the real problem.

Master Mu established the energy barrier.

I think the only way

to mend the energy barrier

is waking up Master Mu.

For that purpose,

I'll help you

wake up Master Mu.

Your help

is certainly welcomed.

Let's get back to looking for an exit.

This chamber is definitely built with machinery that can get us out.

This...

Look.

It's Master.

This...

This is...
