Episode 37

16

From today forward into the future,

17

His Highness will be forced to account for and forever remember me,

18

unlikely any more that he would forget me.

19

You know that now, right?

20

Ma Yueyun...

21

Ma Yueyun!

22

Ma Yueyun threw herself off and fell down after that.

23

She had tears on her face and was smiling at me.

24

I finally understand the justification for Ma Yueyun to commit suicide.

25

On the one hand, she is using the most extreme manner to sever her relationship with Rong Zhi

26

to make him never forget for the rest of his life.

27

In the second place, to stake it all on one throw and die,

28

calls you to defend yourself from something you were not capable of doing.

29

At what time did she finally begin to plan this?

30

I went over today to talk to the maidservants in Xuanguang Palace.

31

They told me that Concubine Ma mentioned she desired to make the most fashionable ivory leaf cards.

32

Right. This was precisely done to request the ivory for the leaf cards.

33

This way she would be able to have a reason to visit the Xuanguang Palace.

34

The Empress Dowager is fond of new and uncommon ways and play, she would have no reason not to directly hand over the treasured item as something benefiting herself,

35

and request to offer the cards as a present for His Majesty.

36

Because she quite clearly knows His Majesty's love for Guiren Feng,

37

and as Guiren Feng comes from an impoverished background and is anxious to establish a steady grounding in the palace,

38

His Majesty would certainly give her the present, so she could curry favor with the Empress Dowager.

39

She calculated this plan step by step so well.

40

If His Majesty didn't give it to her, would you have gone?

41

Of course not. Because I am on good terms with Hongxiu,

42

everyone in the palace knows, so naturally I would not reject that.

43

That's why she calculated everything extremely clearly.

44

Even if you were to reject, she would still take you together with her and leave.

45

But you should not have followed her up to the pavilion alone!

46

That was because...

47

Because of what?

48

Say it! How can you still be hiding things now?

49

I was too careless.

50

I thought she would have the strength of a tied chicken.

51

Who knew that with her calculations, she saw through my every step.

52

-Right. Because you are foolish!

-You-

53

Rong Zhi, stop blaming her.

54

The hardest thing to defend again is a secret attack. Ma Xueyun already made preparations.

55

No matter how she tried to dodge, it would have been impossible to avoid it.

56

She is too ruthless.

57

That is not her only motive.

58

Chancellor Ma.

59

Right. Ma Xueyun used her own life to force Ma Zhongliang.

60

Once his only precious daughter died, no matter how shrewd he is,

61

he would still fight to the death.

62

Now that the human evidence is gone,

63

any physical evidence is gone,

64

there is only death left for me.

65

I don't want to die in a foreign land.

66

If I were to really die,

67

please send me back to Great Song.

68

I will not let you die.

69

Chuyu, you are the princess of Liu Song,

70

but you are also the Prince Regent's Wife of Great Wei. No one will dare execute you so easily.

71

Just wait here. If you try to commit suicide,

72

I will tell the whole world that you were afraid to face punishment and killed yourself!

73

-I have no crimes!

-Then live well!

74

Live until I have proven your innocence.

75

Take care of yourself well.

76

[Ministry of Justice]

77

I'm sure you are very clear. Ma Xueyun is dead,

78

and there was no evidence on the Leaf Cards.

79

So what?

80

No matter how much suspicions we have, there is still no solid evidence.

81

No one will believe the Princess Consort.

82

I believe her.

83

Rong Zhi. Did you fall in love with Chuyu?

84

I'm asking you a question, why aren't you answering me?

85

She is the Princess Consort, and the Princess of Liu Song.

86

I cannot watch her be killed unfairly.

87

Good. I'll help you.

88

What are you waiting for? Let's go.

89

Your daughter Xueyun will never compare to the words 'power' to you.

90

Ever since I was young until now,

91

you put in so much effort to care for me.

92

All so that this chess piece of yours could be more precious.

93

But in the end, a chess piece is still a chess piece.

94

It will never be a live human!

95

All the things that you say are for your own interest.

96

Have you ever truly cared about me?

97

Master.

98

Say it! Before your mistress entered the palace did she have any words for me?

99

Mistress had none.

100

I do not believe this! How could she not leave a single word for me. Speak!

101

Master, there is really nothing!

102

Then what is the point of having you? Just say it honestly!

103

Master. Before she entered the palace, Mistress was perfectly fine. There was nothing out of the ordinary!

104

I... I also do not know how things came to this.

105

Master, I really am not lying!

106

No way. This is impossible.

107

How could Xueyun not leave a single word for me?

108

-She obviously-

-If Xueyun was really pushed off by the Princess Consort,

109

how could she leave any words beforehand?

110

Prince Regent, what are you saying?

111

What do I mean, Chancellor Ma I think you know it the best.

112

I do not.

113

Chancellor Ma you already knew that in the past few days Xueyun has been a little crazy.

114

In your heart you are extremely clear

115

that Xueyun killed herself.

116

If that wasn't the case, then why are you here to forcefully ask for her last words?

117

I only just want to ask,

118

if my daughter had any odd behaviours before she entered the palace.

119

Prince Regent you are overthinking.

120

Or could it be, Prince Regent has already steeled his heart

121

and will help Liu Chuyu escape her crimes?

122

How can someone who has no crimes escape a crime?

123

Prince Regent!

124

If Chuyu had evil intentions and really wanted to kill her,

125

she would have killed her long ago in the manor.

126

Why would she go all the way to the pavilion and cause such a huge scene?

127

Furthermore, Xueyun has already become delirious.

128

You shut up!

129

My daughter is not crazy, she will never go crazy. She is very much normal!

130

Speak! What reason does Ma Xueyun have to kill herself?

131

Why would she kill herself?

132

Rong Zhi! You promised before,

133

you promised that you would protect my Xueyun for her whole life.

134

Is this how you protect her?

135

-Chancellor Ma.

-I regret it.

136

I have done many wrong things, the worst of it was letting my Xueyun get married to you!

137

How could I, Ma Zhongliang, be so greedy towards wanting wealth and glory,

138

even wanting them over my daughter. Is this my retribution?

139

Prince Regent. I used to admire you greatly.

140

But now that my daughter is dead,

141

everything is different.

142

I will ensure that Liu Chuyu pays with her life!

143

If you still want to stop me,

144

don't blame me for being rude.

145

Bixi, go gather all your Mistress' favourite things.

146

Prepare them to be buried with her.

147

Yes.

148

Lord, lord! His Highness he-

149

Leave.

150

Yes.

151

Chancellor Ma. Do you really believe Prince Regent

152

will give Concubine Ma justice?

153

Princess Consort has committed numerous crimes.

154

Each time she has safely escaped.

155

I will make a bet with you.

156

This time, she will still not get punished.

157

Shut up!

158

Are you angry?

159

For Prince Regent, you toiled daily and planned meticulously for him.

160

Now that he is standing on his own roots,

161

you have ended up losing a daughter.

162

What's the difference of that with boiling the hound once it has caught the rabbit?

163

He is so emotionless to everyone else around him

164

Plus, the Ma family is just a stepping stone to him.

165

Tuoba Yun, you coming all the way to my place

166

and antagonising me like this,

167

isn't it just because you want me to alliance with you?

168

Don't forget, you just fell into a trap set by Prince Regent.

169

I think you still have some hatred towards me.

170

What are you laughing about?

171

I am just laughing at you.

172

Chancellor Ma, you could be smart for your whole life, but dumb for one moment.

173

Today for me to be able to drink a cup of wine with you,

174

is because I have already forgiven

175

you for that time when you played such a trick on me.

176

Of course, to be able to share your worries,

177

is my honour.

178

Prince Kang, you're so magnanimous.

179

Fine then. You want to join forces with me?

180

It's also possible.

181

I have only one condition. On the day of Xue Yun'e funeral procession,

182

I must see Liu Chuyu's head.

183

That is also my wish.

184

General, what are you thinking?

185

Tell me, why did Ma Xueyun jumped off the tower to kill herself?

186

How would I know? A woman's thoughts are the hardest to guess.

187

After staying with you for a long time, I'm still unable to correctly guess your thoughts.

188

Moreover, a woman like Ma Xueyun.

189

Ma Xueyun was pretty and intelligent and is knows as a gentleman among the orchids.

190

Why then will she do something that will harm both others and herself?

191

- That I know. Because of hatred from extreme envy.

- Hatred?

192

That's right, she envied Prince Regent's Wife as being the main wife, while she's just a side wife.

193

Also, I heard that...

194

Heard what?

195

I heard that she's not as virtuous as before and had one maidservant flogged to death. This angered Prince Regent very much.

196

Even if that's the case, she was still the treasured pearl of Chancellor Ma. No one can dare do anything to her.

197

Why then must she cause things to end up this way?

198

That's also what I can't understand.

199

If what Prince Regent's Wife said is true that Ma Xueyun didn't care to die,

200

why not just perish together?

201

This way, one slap at the table and each glaring at each other,

202

none of them will be able to obtain Prince Regent.

203

Why are you looking at me like that? I was just casually saying it.

204

But I feel that what you said is very reasonable.

205

Reasonable?

206

- Where are you going?

- Going out to take a stroll.

207

Old Mister Liu, that medicine you took has shenling.

208

Plus you took in too much alcohol, that's why, you suddenly vomited blood. It's not that grave.

209

Hold this well. Take this on time every day.

210

I guarantee that you'll be fine in 3 to 5 days.

211

Doctor Gu, you've said it 3 times.

212

Don't worry. I've memorized it.

213

Okay.

214

Doctor Gu, you're really a good person.

215

If you're a woman, I would have told my son to marry you.

216

- Old Mister Liu, you're making me laugh.

- So virtuous...

217

You're so funny. Remember to take in your meds.

218

Doctor Gu is really a good man.

219

General Huo.

220

Too bad, I don't have a little brother. Or else, taking you in as my sister-in-law is good too.

221

General Huo, must you also make fun of me too?

222

I'm indeed a bit of a nag, but doctors are like parents.

223

Just like these patients. If I say it just once, they don't take it seriously.

224

If I say it 3 to 4 times, they will eventually remember it.

225

It's really rare to see a doctor like you. Not only do you treat and examine them in your clinic, you even deliver their medicines to their homes.

226

No wonder, people here in Pingcheng are saying that a living deity has come,

227

who is kind-hearted and delivers all living-creatures from suffering.

228

Oh, right, why are you here?

229

Just randomly walking around.

230

Randomly walking around? Here?

231

When my mood is bad, I like to randomly stroll around the streets of Pingcheng.

232

It's not surprising for me to bump into you.

233

Okay. I'll accompany General Huo a few walks then.

234

Oh, right, Mister Gu, I have a question I want to ask you.

235

Please say it.

236

I already said it so many times. Since we're friends, just call me by name.

237

Okay. Huo Xuan.

238

Just say it.

239

What's the difference between a victim who died from jumping off a building due to suicide versus that of being pushed down?

240

Difference?

241

There must be a difference, right?

242

Regarding difference, there surely will be some.

243

But remember this. The evidence is always on the body of the victim.

244

But I'm not an expert in these.

245

There are a lot of skillful coroner in the Ministry of Justice. You can ask them.

246

It seems you've already guessed for who I'm here for.

247

I've heard about this matter a day ago.

248

Also, it has already spread throughout Pingcheng.

249

They all say that Prince Regent's Wife pushed Concubine Ma off the tower.

250

And that she's being locked up in the Ministry of Justice right now.

251

The more you should know why I didn't ask the coroner in the Ministry of Justice.

252

You're afraid...

253

I'm afraid that someone will caused unnecessary issues and destroy the evidence.

254

I understand.

255

But since I haven't seen Concubine Ma's corpse, it's hard to make any conclusion.

256

If you're given a chance to see it, will you be able to determine if it's a suicide or a murder?

257

If you trust me, I can do my best and give it a try.

258

Your Lady Majesty Empress Dowager, His Highness is here.

259

Rong Zhi?

260

Empress Dowager.

261

You've gotten thinner.

262

You surely hasn't rested well these past days.

263

I'm fine.

264

I know. After such a huge thing has happened,

265

how is it possible for you to be unaffected?

266

Every time I close my eyes,

267

I would see Ma Xueyun's bloody face.

268

Things have come to past.

269

What I can't understand is

270

that Chuyu will actually be that heartless.

271

Chuyu might be willful, but she will never kill anyone.

272

I know. Don't get anxious. Listen to me finish my words.

273

You kept saying that you believe Chuyu. But in reality?

274

You clearly feel that Chuyu is the murderer.

275

Yes. I also don't want to make such a deduction.

276

But the truth in front of us is hard to refute.

277

Before Ma Xueyun left Xuanguang Palace, she was still doing well.

278

Afterwards, the news of her death reached me.

279

I really couldn't see any acts of hers that suggest she's planning to commit suicide. And I couldn't find any reason for her to choose to die.

280

Moreover, Chuyu said that someone drugged her.

281

She also has no evidence.

282

Her testimony was also full of loopholes.

283

Even if I want to keep defending her, will it help?

284

It will be to no avail.

285

Empress Dowager, I will think of a way to resolve this.

286

Resolve it?

287

May I ask Prince Regent how you plan to resolve this?

288

The person that Chuyu killed is not some normal concubine.

289

It is the one and only beloved daughter of Ma Zhongliang.

290

Ma Xueyun enduring to be degraded into a concubine has already caused the Ma clan to feel extreme resentment.

291

And now, she died in the hands of Chuyu.

292

You think they will just stop and let this matter pass?

293

Rong Zhi, Ma Zhongliang is in a high position and has a lot of allies.

294

Just for this matter, His Majesty is already receiving huge pressure.

295

Empress Dowager, I'm feeling a bit unwell.

296

I'll take my leave now.

297

Rong Zhi! At this time, you must not be muddled!

298

What does Your Lady Majesty Empress Dowager want me to do?!

299

Just push Chuyu out just like everyone else?

300

No.

301

I know that you can't bear to.

302

- But the matter has come to this, you can only choose to keep silent.

- Keep silent?

303

Right. Don't do anything. Don't say anything.

304

Once this matter has come to past,

305

I'll choose another daughter from the Ma clan.

306

Only by doing that can we pacify the anger in their hearts.

307

I can understand anyone else saying such words. But how come you are also—

308

Because you are my biological little brother.

309

I want to protect you.

310

Prince Regent, just listen to Her Lady Majesty Empress Dowager's words.

311

This is not only Lady Majesty's desire. It's more of—

312

Who's desire?

313

Who?

314

This is exactly my desire.

315

It's His Majesty, am I right?

316

He doesn't want me to interfere in this matter. Am I right?!

317

Be careful that there are ears on the walls.

318

Just let the Ministry of Justice investigate this matter.

319

The Liu Song Princess developed hatred because of envy and cruelly committed murder.

320

As long as we are able to find enough evidences,

321

even if this news reach Liu Song, they won't have any reason to wage a war on us.

322

Your Lady Majesty Empress Dowager, I fully understand your painstaking efforts.

323

But what you said is right. I'm the Prince Regent.

324

I should bear the responsibility to govern this state.

325

How then could I give up in finding the truth just because of the threat of the Ma clan?!

326

Rong Zhi!

327

I surely will investigate this matter until the truth comes out. I'll take my leave now.

328

Empress Dowager, Prince Regent, he...

329

My little brother is really so stubborn.

330

Your Highness, they've already cleaned this place.

331

What are you looking for?

332

Your Highness!

333

Your Highness...

334

Shen Yu, did you notice anything?

335

Notice what?

336

I seemed to have grabbed hold of something earlier, just a fleeting thought.

337

Your Highness, just for a baseless thought,

338

you almost pushed me down.

339

How could I bear to kill you?

340

It's just that when Xueyun was standing here,

341

what was she really thinking?

342

I just know that she was very afraid of heights.

343

During one annual spring hike, she unfortunately slipped.

344

From then on, she refused to climb any heights again.

345

It was the same even during Chongyang Festival. But it was that kind of her

346

who actually dared to jump off from here!

347

Is Your Highness being sad for Concubine Ma?

348

I just feel puzzled.

349

What really

350

gave her such huge courage to make her disregard everything else?

351

Rong Zhi.

352

General Huo.

353

- I knew that you'll be here.

- I'm here to look for clues.

354

Stop wasting your energy. They've already cleaned what must be cleaned. What can you still find?

355

You seem to have a different idea.

356

Now that things have come to this, there is only one way.

357

What?

358

A corpse examination.

359

[Ministry of Justice]

360

Liu Song Princess, do you admit your crime?

361

I didn't commit any crime.

362

Everyone saw you pushing Concubine Ma off the tower.

363

Are you daring to refute all that?

364

Everyone? There were only the two of us in the tower that time so who else saw it?

365

Tell her to come out and be a witness then.

366

How dare you!

367

In this case, there isn't anyone who can be a witness.

368

Only 2 people knew the truth.

369

One has already died. The other one is me. Who then are you going to call to be the witness?

370

You're asking me to admit the crime upon arriving here. Don't you think that's so funny?

371

Didn't the Ministry of Justice teach you how to interrogate cases?

372

Or maybe, from the start,

373

you already had your impression and assumed that I'm guilty.

374

Shut up!

375

You killed the person and is now denying it.

376

That's really a terrible crime.

377

Don't think that because you're the Liu Song Princess, I can't do anything with you.

378

Let me tell you that no matter how noble your status is, once you're here,

379

you are still a prisoner.

380

I didn't kill anyone!

381

I already said it that Ma Xueyun committed suicide. This has nothing to do with me!

382

Since that's the case, I can only use torture.

383

You're abusing the use of tortures. That's obtaining confessions under torture!

384

Princess Consort, you probably don't understand the Ministry of Justice that well yet.

385

That's why, I have the need to let you see

386

what it means to get a confession under torture.

387

I didn't kill...

388

- Your Highness Prince Kang.

- The methods of Minister is really outstanding.

389

Your Highness, you have praised me too much. No matter how firm a person is,

390

when they come here, they must obediently admit their crimes.

391

But she is the Lius Song Princess.

392

Liu Song is so far from here and they've have gotten scared by the continuous wars.

393

So what if they know? Can they attack here now?

394

No, that's impossible.

395

But the Ma clan has long established a complex foundation in state affairs and their influence is enormous.

396

Even His Majesty fears them. Now that Chancellor Ma

397

lost his daughter while in midlife and is in extreme grief.

398

He doesn't mind using the power of his whole clan to doom Liu Chuyu.

399

At this time, it now depends on if you are able to open her mouth.

400

As long as she admits the crime and we send the admission letter to Liu Song,

401

by then, the breeze will be still and the waves quiet.

402

Your Highness, don't worry. In less than 2 hours,

403

she will sign the confession letter.

404

You, do you admit to your crime?

405

I'm not.

406

Bring her here.

407

Do you admit or not?!

408

I won't!

409

Did she admit to her crime already?

410

Your Highness, forgive me.

411

It's because of those useless men of mine who only knows to drink and eat. I'll personally interrogate her.

412

In opening up a clamshell, you need some cleverness, and not brute force.

413

[Ministry of Justice]

414

I heard that Prince Regent's Wife kept refusing to admit her crime and has been beaten up badly.

415

What place is the Ministry of Justice?

416

It's quite hard for a lady like her

417

to even survive today.

418

You're now a prisoner so what are you still acting so proud?

419

You still think that you're the Prince Regent's Wife?

420

You better know to appreciate good treatment when you're being given one, or else, let's just wait and see later.

421

Don't think that Liu Song—

422

Princess, hurry and get up. I'm here to take you home.

423

Princess.

424

Despicable lowly people!

425

Let go of me!

426

- You've already tried all kinds of methods. What else do you want?

- Bastard!

427

Prince Regent's Wife has such strong personality. It was really beyond as what I've expected.

428

Let me tell you that you should stop wasting your time.

429

I didn't kill anyone, so I'm never going to admit any crime.

430

Really? You better save those words after you see the person.

431

Let go of me!

432

Stop!

433

Say it. Prince Regent's Wife is the murderer of Concubine Ma.

434

Qingyue! Qingyue!

435

Let go of her!

436

Qingyue...

437

Qingyue, are you alright? Qingyue...

438

I'm fine. How about you, Princess?

439

Are you alright? Are you okay?

440

I'm fine.

441

If you're fine, then I'm fine.

442

Qingyue...

443

Qingyue...

444

Qingyue... Qingyue!

445

What do you really want?!

446

What do we want?

447

Prince Regent's Wife, you're of noble status.

448

It's not easy for us to use grave torture methods on you.

449

But this servant isn't that precious.

450

She trespassed the Ministry of Justice and tried to get a prisoner out. That's punishable by death.

451

These things have nothing to do with her.

452

Why must you drag her into this?!

453

If you want her to be safe,

454

then hurry and sign this.

455

What if I refuse?

456

So sorry then.

457

I must deliver this lady to the after life then.

458

- Do it.

- Stop!

460

How would I know that you are saying the truth?

461

What if after I signed it, you will not fulfill your promise?

462

Find someone to treat her wounds first

463

then immediately inform General Shen and send her out.

464

You are a prisoner. You quite have lot of requests.

465

I am a prisoner.

466

But I also am the Prince Regent's Wife of Wei. If I insist on not signing my confession,

467

how are you going to explain it to the master behind you?

468

Are you still not going to hurry and save her?!

469

Miss Bixi.

470

Butler Zhao, why are you here?

471

The marshal found someone to check the birthdate characters of Concubine Ma.

472

He said that the fengshui of this Fangcao Pavilion isn't that good.

473

That's why, we're moving the coffin to the back courtyard.

474

No! Mistress likes this place the most. She's not going anywhere!

475

Men!

476

Miss Bixi.

477

Miss Bixi! If you continue acting wildly like this,

478

don't blame me for being disrespectful then.

479

Let go!

480

Mistress! Mistress!

481

Right. Right.

482

Your Highness, I already asked someone to invite Doctor Gu.

483

This matter has grave implication and Doctor Gu just arrived here in Pingcheng.

484

Are you worried that Gu Huan isn't reliable?

485

We don't know him that well after all.

486

It is exactly because he's just new here and doesn't yet have any foundation,

487

He doesn't have any relatives or old acquaintances here in Pingcheng.

488

He then is the most reliable choice at this stage.

489

Other than him, those that we trust are not skilled enough,

490

while those that are skilled are not trustworthy.

491

Zhao Xiang, when using a person, you must not doubt him. If you doubt him, then don't use him.

492

I believe in Huo Xuan.

493

Yes.

494

Rong Zhi. Have you clearly decided?

495

Isn't this your suggestion?

496

It is indeed my suggestion, but I thought that you wouldn't accept it.

497

Just to find out the truth, this is the only way.

498

Doctor Gu, please come in.

499

You're here.

500

Greetings, Prince Regent.

501

Please then.

502

Who dares to touch her even a bit?!

503

Chancellor Ma.

504

Rong Zhi, are you crazy?

505

Are you crazy?!

506

You're letting the corpse of Xueyun be tainted by other people in front of the public eye?

507

Chancellor Ma, Xueyun's death is unclear. Only by doing this can we find out the truth.

508

Ma Xueyun is your wife!

509

You're letting her corpse be exposed publicly.

510

Towards the royal family, towards my Ma family, that is utmost insult and shame!

511

- Chancellor Ma!

- You even—

512

I understand now.

513

Maybe because you think you're the Prince Regent

514

so you can do what you like, am I right?

515

Chancellor Ma, we only want to find out the truth.

516

You disturbing a corpse examination like this, could it be you're guilty of something?

517

Shut up!

518

Huo Xuan, your stupidity has gone beyond my imagination.

519

Who do you think you are?

520

This is my family matter.

521

What right do you have to meddle?

522

Just because of the reason of investigating the truth,

523

you're going to let my daughter's corpse and soul attain no peace?

524

What corpse and soul not attaining any peace?

525

We're just going to do a simple corpse examination and not an autopsy.

526

Chancellor Ma, one must still know when to not overdo being arrogant and overbearing.

527

Huo Xuan!

528

Chancellor Ma, Xueyun has already married into the Prince Regent Manor.

529

Since I've decided to have the corpse examined,

530

even if you're her father, you don't have any right to question it.

531

Okay...

532

Such awe-inspiring authority, Prince Regent.

533

I'll let you see today then

534

if I have that right or not.

535

Men!

536

Take Lady back to the manor.

537

- Are you all still not going to move!

- Chancellor Ma!

538

You can't take Xueyun away!

539

Prince Regent, I am Xueyun's father.

540

A father taking her daughter away is just right and proper, right?

541

Oh, you're not allowing it?

542

If you won't allow it, you can too.

543

Go and get an imperial decree from Your Majesty first!

544

Your Highness!

545

Your Highness.

546

Qingyue got in trouble.

547

Don't you want an imperial decree?

548

Fine. I surely will get you one.

549

How come the Imperial Physician is still not here?

550

What has happened?!

551

Your Highness, I wasn't able keep watch of Qingyue.

552

She was able to escape.

553

Who knew that she would trespass into the Ministry of Justice?

554

Your Highness, it was the Minister of Justice who delivered Qingyue back.

555

What did he say?

556

I'm asking you a question! What did he say?!

557

He said that Princess Consort has already confessed.

558

Looks like this girl has fallen into someone's trap.

559

She became the weapon used to threaten the Princess Consort.

560

It's him.

561

Who?

562

Other than Prince Kang, who else can order the Minister of Justice around?

563

Doctor Gu, did the Chancellor scare you?

564

What's wrong with you then? Since we came out of the Prince Regent's Manor, you never said anything.

565

Huo Xuan, I seemed to have seen that maidservant somewhere.

566

Which one?

567

That maidservant beside Concubine Ma.

568

- Her name...

- Bixi?

569

Right. Bixi.

570

Why did Chancellor Ma ask for a leave of absence?

571

Your Majesty, Chancellor Ma painfully loss his beloved daughter.

572

He's been grieving inconsolably. For the past days, he just lied on bed and refused to get up.

573

And someone still intentionally agitated him,

574

causing Chancellor Ma to feel dispirited that he's preparing to resign from his post and return to his province.

575

Agitate him? Who was that bold?

576

For this, you must ask His Highness Prince Regent.

577

Your Majesty, I'm planning to do a corpse examination.

578

What did you say?

579

Xueyun died in an unclear manner and my Princess Consort is being wrongly accused.

580

I must find out the truth. May Your Majesty allow it.

581

Prince Regent, things have already reached this point.

582

You're still not giving up?

583

Minister of Justice!

584

Your Majesty, Prince Regent's Wife isn't being falsely accused.

585

She has already confessed.

586

You hear that? That good wife of yours has already confessed.

587

You're still defending here here in the court. Totally the

588

biggest joke in the world. Just for a cruel and scary woman,

589

you're letting Concubine Ma die in vain and a loyal subject be disappointed.

590

Are your actions even justifiable?

591

Prince Kang, we can only know the real truth behind this

592

once we do the corpse examination.

593

After saying so much, you still want to do the corpse examination.

594

But don't forget, she's your concubine.

595

Are you just going to let her nakedly receive another man's look?

596

Let me tell you that this is not ripping apart your own face (reputation),

597

it's trampling on the dignity of our Wei's imperial family!

598

That's right, as an official for so many years, I've never encountered such a thing.

599

Since Prince Regent's Wife has confessed,

600

the matter is now clear. Why still do a corpse examination?

601

No wonder Chancellor Ma is bedridden from sickness. If it's me, I will be lying down too.

602

Prince Regent, Chancellor Ma has assisted you in the past.

603

How could you be this ungrateful?

604

Do you understand everyone's stand now?

605

Insisting to do the corpse examination is breaking one's word, forgetting one's benefactor, (being treacherous)

606

and being shameless.

607

Your Majesty, this concerns a person's life. We must not carelessly make decisions.

608

May Your Majesty issue an imperial decree.

609

Shut up! Doing a public corpse examination is excessive defiling.

610

This matter ends here. You must not mention it again.

611

Your Majesty!

612

I already said it that I don't want to hear the words 'corpse examination'!

613

Prince Regent, I order you to personally visit Chancellor Ma.

614

Invite him back here.

615

I am willing to accompany him.
