Untouchable Lovers

15

Episode 31

16

- Missing?

- Yes. Princess Consort got abducted by the assassin

17

and has now gone missing.

18

Mistress, you are—

19

Missing is good. It will be better if she doesn't return forever.

20

This way, I can be at ease.

21

That's right. Maybe, right now,

22

she has already become a pond of muddy flesh.

23

Bixi.

24

What is it?

25

This dress is too lavish.

26

The Prince Regent's Wife has gone missing.

27

As a concubine, I should also look worried.

28

I must no wear such lavish clothes.

29

That's right. It's me who wasn't able to make the proper considerations.

30

It's still Mistress who is more thorough.

31

I'll then go pick you a simpler and more ordinary dress.

32

Go...

33

Yes.

34

Greetings, Madam Le.

35

Wait.

36

The 100 year-old blood ginseng in our storage room?

37

That ginseng was granted by Empress Dowager. His Highness actually could bear to give it away?

38

But don't know who it was that failed to appreciate such extreme kindness

39

that he had it returned untouched.

40

Talk. I don't really eat people. Why are you trembling?

41

Le Yun, no matter how you interrogate them, they wouldn't dare tell it to you.

42

Why are you two still here?

43

Leave!

44

What do you mean by those words?

45

Do you know why His Highness like you?

46

Why?

47

I thought that you are a smart woman.

48

Never thought that when it comes to love, you're also so stupid.

49

Think about it. That little portrait in His Highness' study

50

and those precious medicinal ingredients that got sent out,

51

don't you have any other thoughts?

52

The woman that His Highness loves

53

is Wei's most respectable Feifeng General who is skilled in both knowledge and fighting,

54

extremely intelligent.

55

While you are just a lowly servant

56

that looked a bit like her and able to earn some respect and favor.

57

The more you are outrageously pleased with yourself,

58

the more it shows that you are a lowly toy.

59

One day, you'll get abandoned like a garbage.

60

You think I still will get fooled by you?

61

Now that the real master has returned,

62

an imitation like you should better just stay within your bounds.

63

Stop flaunting your prowess above my head. Or else, I won't mind

64

making a cut on your face. By then,

65

you will even lose the remaining dignity that you have.

66

Life is like a game of chess, changes is a constant thing.

67

If we don't reach the end, how will we know who the real victor is?

68

Since you're that confident, I won't mind waiting to see it.

69

But you should pray to the heaven.

70

Huo Xuan has always spoken bluntly.

71

As long as one day, she waves her hands,

72

His Highness will then forget about you.

73

It's you? Tian Rujing?

74

Princess, long time no see.

75

Why did Imperial Astrologer come here to Wei? Did you especially come to see me?

76

Wrong. You clearly were trying to kill Rong Zhi earlier. Why?

77

Princess, if I indeed came to kill Rong Zhi, what will you do?

78

You can't!

79

Why not?

80

I came to Wei exactly to pacify the war.

81

Now, you're telling me that you're here to kill the Prince Regent?

82

What then is the point of me traveling far to come here?

83

This is a scheme among the imperial power to begin with.

84

Liu Yu used you.

85

No. I willingly did this.

86

This decision might sound absurd

87

and it also brought me a lot of misfortunes, but I don't regret it.

88

Princess, are you crazy?

89

Or towards Rong Zhi, you have already...

90

No. This time, you can't stay.

91

- What are you doing?!

- I'm taking you back to Song.

92

I'm not going back.

93

I indeed am homesick, but I can't just abandon my duties.

94

If I go back with you,

95

Wei will surely get mad and start the flames of war.

96

I would then become a sinner condemned for ages.

97

You're really not leaving?

98

Not leaving.

99

If you don't go with me, you surely will regret it.

100

I said it already that I will never regret it.

101

Since that's the case, why don't we make a bet on it.

102

Bet on what?

103

If you safely go back without any injuries at all,

104

it will surely incite the suspicion of everyone. Do you believe it?

105

After the suspicions, rumors will arise.

106

By then, how will you act?

107

But that's good too.

108

I hope that you can see Rong Zhi's real personality earlier.

109

- You...

- Go now.

110

Hurry! Hurry and inform His Highness that Princess Consort is back!

111

[Prince Regent's Manor]

112

Greetings Princess Consort.

113

Let me see. Are you hurt?

114

Lanruo, don't check anymore. I'm not hurt.

115

The assassin really didn't hurt you?

116

No. None at all.

117

You're really fine?

118

[Red Phoenix Room]

119

Lanruo, don't look anymore. I'm really fine.

120

Your Highness.

121

How did you return?

122

The assassin just left me when we reached the city outskirts.

123

He didn't hurt you?

124

What do you mean?

125

What are you suspecting?

126

Nothing. I'm going back now.

127

Stop right there! Say it again!

128

You clearly know what I mean. Don't you?

129

You suspect that I'm related to the assassin.

130

That the assassin was sent by Song. Am I right?

131

Since you know, why must you still ask?

132

Despicable.

133

Chuyu...

134

Get out! I don't want to see you again!

135

If you safely go back without any injuries at all,

136

it will surely incite the suspicion of everyone.

137

I hope that you can see Rong Zhi's real personality earlier.

138

Your Highness, how is Princess Consort.

139

She's fine.

140

Your Highness was clearly concerned about her.

141

Why then must you be overbearing?

142

I said the wrong words.

143

Send someone to keep watch of her closely. Don't let her run around.

144

Also, those that saw her come back, make them all shut up.

145

Your Highness, are you worried—

146

Remember. Chuyu was painstakingly rescued by you. Understand?

147

But this way...

148

At this time, I don't want anyone to know

149

that the assassin is related to Liu Song.

150

The more I don't want anyone to suspect Chuyu.

151

Yes.

152

She came back unhurt?

153

Yes. I heard that General Shen engaged that assassin in a desperate fight

154

while searching the southern side of the city.

155

He then was able to successfully rescue Princess Consort.

156

I thought that she won't be able to return anymoroe.

157

Never thought that she would have such good fortune and was able to return safely.

158

That's right. I also find it strange.

159

We can only say that she's too fortunate.

160

Not right.

161

What's not right?

162

Shen Yu is a low key person.

163

How come he is spreading this news too loudly?

164

Maybe he wants to earn some merits.

165

I fear that there is a story behind the Princess Consort's rescue.

166

What story can it be?

167

The more he tries to cover this matter up,

168

the more I feel that Princess Consort is in collusion with that assassin.

169

Song has been eyeing our empire covetously.

170

Since their initial plan failed, not they want to coordinate an offensive from outside and inside, find a chance to implement the assassination.

171

This time, Princess Consort got rescued back.

172

They surely wanted to clear her connection with the assassin.

173

They thought that just preserving her life is enough.

174

They all forgot

175

that when a woman stays with a male stranger,

176

what could be the consequence?

177

Bixi.

178

Send people to spread a rumor. Just say...

179

Have you heard it? The Prince Regent's Wife got abducted by an assassin.

180

She just got rescued by their personal guards.

181

We should thank the heaven then.

182

This Prince Regent's Wife is really a fortunate and blessed individual,

183

- What are you doing here?

- of noble status.

184

- General, they are talking about the abduction of Prince Regent's Wife.

- That's right. She actually returned unscathed.

- What do you know?

185

The person indeed returned safely,

186

but that hat on Prince Regent's head now is very green. (have an unfilial wife)

187

Don't say such things so casually.

188

I'm not making up nonsense. Think about it.

189

A beautiful woman ending up in the hands of an assassin,

190

tell me, what can happen?

191

This Prince Regent having to suffer such shame in silence like that, he's really quite pitiful.

192

That is a Liu Song princess. He can't just casually divorce her.

193

This will really eat up his life.

194

Are you people too full? (have nothing else better to do)

195

You people should be careful of your head.

196

No...who was that?

197

- General, don't be angry anymore.

- So meddlesome.

198

- Go back first.

- Where are you going?

199

- Go back!

- Okay.

200

Oh? People outside are really saying that?

201

I got accurate news.

202

This news indeed came from the Prince Regent's manor.

203

Prince Regent's women charm is too strong, causing fire to ignite within his harem.

204

He married the Liu Song princess and the precious pearl of Chancellor Ma at the same time.

205

Of course, he was asking for trouble.

206

Prince Regent has now become the joke of the town.

207

His prestige will surely get affected.

208

Right now, we just need to light a fire

209

and burn him to the point that he's unable to make a comeback.

210

Do you have any good idea?

211

Your Highness, do you remember the task that His Majesty gave you years ago?

212

Say it.

213

Someone gifted the palace red pearl-scale fishes and white pheasants from the Western Regions.

214

That time, His Majesty divided them to both you and Prince Regent to be cared for.

215

The white pheasants are now in your precious beast zoo.

216

But the red pearl-scale fishes of Prince Regent...

217

What happened to the red pearl-scale fishes?

218

Prince Regent raised the red pearl-scale fishes in his own fish pond.

219

His fish pond and your precious beast zoo are the same, both are private assets.

220

I heard that to make His Majesty happy, Prince Regent especially hired a person to take care of the fishes.

221

The red pearl-scale fishes are also called long life fishes.

222

What if all these red pearl-scale fishes die before His Majesty's birthday?

223

At the very least, it will suggest that Prince Regent wasn't meticulous in the task the His Majesty gave him.

224

To look at it in a graver manner,

225

this is Prince Regent cursing His Majesty to have a shorter life.

226

That is great disrespect. His Majesty might even think that

227

Prince Regent might be harboring evil intentions.

228

Go do it.

229

Yes.

230

You're here.

231

How did you know that it's me?

232

Other than Feifeng General, who else would dare to kick my doors?

233

Highest Wisdom Sutra (Mahāprajñāpāramitā Sūtra). What time is it already?

234

You still have the idle time and pleasure to copy Buddhist scripture here?

235

Copying sutras can calm the mind.

236

That's 600 chapters. How long are you planning to copy them?

237

I just happen to be in the 99th chapter now.

238

Oh, right, going back to why I'm here,

239

do you know that the world is turning upside down out there?

240

- Everyone is saying that Princess Consort—

- Huo Xuan.

241

There is nothing wrong in the world to begin with, but a mediocre person will keep worrying about things.

242

You are usually very smart. How come you're starting to believe rumors now?

243

Of course, I don't believe it. But a wind will surely come from somewhere.

244

You should investigate well who is spreading these rumors.

245

Prince Kang.

246

Although Tuoba Yun is wildly ambitious, he wouldn't spread such nonsense rumors.

247

He is ambitious and ruthless. He wouldn't be like a woman,

248

who wouldn't have his eyes focused on such detailed matters.

249

Looks like you've guessed who is it. Am I right?

250

- Huo Xuan...

- Okay. No need to explain things to me.

251

You should immediately investigate your harem

252

to prevent the fire from intensifying uncontrollably and burning yourself.

253

Your Highness. Feifeng General?

254

- What is it?

- Your Highness, people from mthe fish pond sent news earlier.

255

- In one night, the red pearl-scale fishes that His Majesty loves the most have all died.

- What?!

256

I rushed to the site and found that the pond water is problematic.

257

It's very possible that someone tinkered with it.

258

Looks like while I'm having trouble, someone is taking advantage of the fire to rob me. (taking advantage of the situation)

259

If my guess is right,

260

the other party is planning to make his attack during His Majesty's birthday banquet. Don't forget

261

that the red pearl-scale fish is a long life fish. They all dying overnight will surely anger His Majesty.

262

Plus the rumors spreading about the Prince Regent Manor lately,

263

I fear that your reputation in the imperial court will hit rock bottom.

264

That's right. But just losing one's reputation would be fine.

265

What's scarier is there are other precious fishes inside the pond.

266

They are supposed to be sold soon and are the most important source of our income.

267

Without these money, we will indeed suffer losses for this year.

268

For the expenses for next year,

269

I fear that we won't be able to sustain it.

270

- I got it.

- You already have an idea?

271

Yes. But you must help me. Can you do it?

272

- Me?

- Right. It must be you.

273

Your Highness, what really are you planning to do?

274

You don't need to care about that. Immediately seal the news.

275

Don't let anyone know about the incident in the fish pond.

276

Yes.

277

Mistress, it's late already. Go rest early.

278

Just a few more. I want to finish this.

279

Your Highness.

280

Your Highness, why didn't you inform me beforehand that you're coming, so I could have made preparations?

281

Your Highness, why are you looking at me like that?

282

Xueyun, what have you done?

283

I...what did I do?

284

Because of a woman's envious heart, you just randomly spread rumors

285

saying that Princess Consort got raped.

286

Do you know how much storm this thing has caused in the imperial court?

287

No, I didn't.

288

You still won't admit your mistakes?!

289

Your Highness, I really don't know anything about this. Why are you blaming me?

290

Must you force me to find out the person who spread the rumors

291

or you wish that I personally drag you

292

and hand you over to His Majesty, so everyone will know who the real mastermind is?!

293

If you still don't say the truth, then don't blame me for being heartless.

294

Yes! I was the one who did it!

295

I can't let that Song woman steal you away! I can't just watch while I'm slowly losing the man I love.

296

What nonsense are you saying?!

297

Your Highness, listen well.

298

I love you. I deeply love you.

299

Ma Xueyun, we were just collaborating.

300

You will win me the support of Chancellor Ma, while I'll help you preserve the wealth of the Ma family.

301

Now, you're suddenly saying that you love me? Don't you find that funny?

302

Your Highness, you're looking down on me.

303

You have assumed that I'm a woman who is greedy for superficial things.

304

Why then can you strive for the most powerful imperial power, while I can't pursue wealth, fame, splendor, and glory?

305

How come a man's wild ambition is a dream,

306

while a woman's wish has become a wild ambition?

307

A companion that you fight side by side with can never be your lover.

308

I thought that you are intelligent, yet you still committed such a mistake.

309

I know that I've chose the wrong path from the very start.

310

I shouldn't have honestly expressed my desires. I also shouldn't have married you for glory and splendor.

311

Your Highness, while being with you from morning til night,

312

I slowly sank into your tenderness and warmth.

313

Even if they were just false display of affection, I still secretly yearned for you.

314

But how come you have to like Liu Chuyu?!

315

- Are you crazy?!

- I'm indeed crazy!

316

You were the one who forced me to go insane.

317

I have been secretly loving Your Highness.

318

No matter where you are, whatever you do,

319

I had been secretly loving you.

320

But what about you?

321

You instead fell in love with a Liu Song princess!

322

I can't accept it! This is unfair!

323

Rong Zhi, Your Highness,

324

I can give you everything and I can endure anything,

325

except in love! I surely will not take any step back!

326

That's why, I'm going to destroy her reputation, so she won't be able to face anyone.

327

Better if she forever disappears here in Pingcheng!

328

Yes, you indeed can cause her to be so ashamed to face anyone.

329

But what about me? Have you thought about how I, as the Prince Regent,

330

will face the taunting of the public?

331

Have you ever thought about that because of these rumors,

332

I would lose my prestige as the Prince Regent,

333

become the laughingstock of Pingcheng?

334

Yes.

335

This is your mighty love. Am I right?

336

I...

337

Not everyone lives for love.

338

But you've gone crazy!

339

I told you before that only a smart woman can stay by my side.

340

But what about you? Look at what you've done!

341

The thing that you destroyed is not only the Princess Consort,

342

but also me!

343

Your Highness, I didn't mean to.

344

I was just muddled for a moment.

345

I didn't want that woman to take away your soul.

346

I didn't want to see you being concerned about her.

347

Your Highness, even if Mistress indeed made a grave mistake,

348

but her love for you is true.

349

Look. This is a clothing that she spent the whole night making for you.

350

Before getting married, Mistress has never done such work.

351

But for you, she's willing to do anything.

352

Even if it's just for the considerations that she didn't mind harming her eyes,

353

I beg you to feel pity for her.

354

Ma Xueyun, in my eyes,

355

power is number one.

356

I will not fall in love with anyone.

357

I never will. You're now on your own.

358

Your Highness! Your Highness!

359

Your Highness!

360

Xuan'er!

361

Xuan'er!

362

When did I allow Prince Kang to call me by my name?

363

General Huo.

364

Prince Kang kept coming into my manor every 2 to 3 days.

365

Aren't you afraid of people saying that you're trying to collude with government officials? Don't forget that

366

approaching me will invite suspicion that you're coveting my military power.

367

These past years, whenever you return to Pingcheng,

368

I have never changed.

369

If I'm afraid of it, I wouldn't have chosen to be like this.

370

Why did you come?

371

I'm here to give you a gift.

372

You always bring gifts whenever you come. What's new?

373

Come.

374

This is...

375

I will never give you any ordinary gift.

376

This is a hundred birds dress.

377

Hundred birds dress?

378

It was said that during the Three Dynasties of Xia, Shang, and Zhou, there was princess from the Yu tribe who has a dress like this.

379

This was created using different feathers from different kinds of birds.

380

It is so brightly colored, dazzling people.

381

Whether you look at it directly in front or from the sides,

382

looking at it with sunlight or through the shadows, it will still be flowing with light and is brightly colored.

383

Just to recreate this dress,

384

I collected the feathers of several precious birds

385

and looked for the best tailor to sew this day and night.

386

Look. Do you like it?

387

You think it'll look good on me?

388

Of course! I feel that only you is worthy to wear this dress.

389

I have always hated rare treasures that waste manpower and resources.

390

- You...

- General.

391

What is that?

392

Prince Regent sent this. Look.

393

- Red pearl scales?

- Red pearl-scale fish?

394

Yes. Prince Kang indeed has good vision.

395

Prince Regent said that their red pearl-scale fish harvest this year was the best.

396

Excluding the initial 30 fishes, they were able to breed 20 more.

397

Hence, he used the extra ones to create precious goods.

398

This sword scabbard was created using the red pearl scales.

399

The breeding of red pearl-scalse fishes is at it best?

400

Yes. That's what the servant who delivered the sword said.

401

Is there any problem?

402

Nothing.

403

I suddenly remember that I still need to enter the palace for official matters. I'll take my leave now.

404

Look. It can still reflect the light. So surprisingly strange.

405

That's right, General. That sword looks so pretty.

406

Your Lady Majesty Empress Dowager, the rumors have spread all over and people feel uneasy.

407

You should be comforting Princess Consort.

408

I've already heard the rumors outside the palace.

409

It's just some nonsense people biting their tongue.

410

I believe that a rumor will stop with a wise person.

411

Since Your Lady Majesty Empress Dowager is this open-minded, I won't meddle too much then.

412

I initially thought of letting Princess Consort go to the temple to pray,

413

so as to remove the inauspicious luck that's been following her.

414

Say, how could something like that happen

415

to such a distinguished Princess Consort?

416

Since Your Lady Majesty Empress Dowager is unhappy about it, I won't stay here to annoy you anymore.

417

I better just return to my palace.

418

Wait a minute! Imperial Consort Dowager, with such a goodwill,

419

how could I let you come here for naught?

420

Senior Maid Qin, give the gift given to me

421

by Prince Regent to Imperial Consort Dowager Qi.

422

Yes.

423

This is a very rare item, but it's too garish.

424

Anyway, I'm unable to wear it.

425

I'm giving it to you instead. This is a show of filial piety by Prince Regent.

426

You should treasure it.

427

- Your Lady Highness Imperial Consort Dowager!

- The tea was so hot! Do you want to kill me from the heat!

428

You can't even do such a minor thing?! What else can you do?!

429

Men! Drag her out and flog her!

430

Your Lady Highness Imperial Consort Dowager, have mercy! I admit my mistakes!

431

I admit my mistakes. Your Lady Highness! Please be merciful!

432

Your Lady Highness Imperial Consort!

433

- Your Lady Highness Imperial Consort!

- Royal Mother, what's wrong with yo?

434

Why are you venting your anger on the servants?

435

Other than that bitch,

436

who else can anger me?

437

For so many years, you are still easily angered by her?

438

You also know that I entered the palace and became an imperial consort earlier than her.

439

But since that bitch came into the palace, a newbie was able to actually surpass the senior ones.

440

Your Royal Father got coaxed by her so much that he allowed me to be placed under her.

441

You didn't see her arrogant look earlier.

442

It's as if she's the only person left in this whole world.

443

She just relied on a bewitching face

444

that's why, she was capable to crawl above me.

445

One day, I surely will drag her down that position.

446

You must know that Empress Dowager Feng not only relied on her beauty.

447

That seductress Ah Feng,

448

her husband has long died, yet she still dress up so alluring.

449

Don't know who she is dolling herself up for.

450

Could it be she's thinking of following the past practices, letting the son inherit the father's assets?

451

Royal Mother, please be careful with your words.

452

What is that?

453

Replying to Your Highness, that was from...

454

It was given by that person from Proclaiming Light Palace.

455

Oh?

456

She thinks she's warding beggars away? What rotten thing is that that she dared to give to others?

457

Just sending out skins of red pearl-scales like this so easily,

458

it shows that their breeding was successful.

459

Doesn't this mean that Qi Heng's efforts were all in vain?

460

What are you saying?

461

Nothing. Such a beautiful waist band

462

can only suit Royal Mother.

463

You can really talk.

464

For Prince Regent

465

to be able to give Empress Dowager Feng a belt like that,

466

he naturally would have given one each to the imperial consorts.

467

The ordinary citizens will surely try their best to militate such a palace item.

468

Red pearl-scale fishes are very rare and precious object to begin with.

469

From now on, I fear that it's going to be hard to find one again.

470

Chancellor Ma!

471

Prince Regent, why can't you dare see me?!

472

Chancellor Ma, you're here.

473

Rong Zhi, I didn't come here today as the chancellor of Wei,

474

but as a father.

475

Rong Zhi, do you still remember what you promised me when you married Xueyun?

476

I remember.

477

Oh? I think you've forgotten.

478

You said that you'll protect her, take care of her,

479

won't let her suffer any grievances.

480

But now, what did you do? How did you treat her?

481

You coldly scolded her, hurt her,

482

and even locked her up like a dog.

483

I just hope that she can calm down.

484

You were just finished using her

485

and immediately discarding her.

486

This is my study and not a place for you to be unruly.

487

Yes, I indeed locked her up.

488

That is because she committed a grave mistake.

489

If I don't lock her up and His Majesty knew about it,

490

she will suffer worse punishment.

491

By that time, your love will become harm

492

and a sharp blade that will send her to her way.

493

Rong Zhi, stop saying such nonsense to me.

494

Don't use these childish and laughable jokes to fool me.

495

Just one statement,

496

if you still have any considerations for your past promise

497

and towards me,

498

let Ma Xueyun go by today.

499

Sorry. She brought this to herself.

500

Chancellor Ma. Chancellor Ma, please calm down.

501

Enough! Rong Zhi knows what he's doing!

502

Chancellor Ma...

503

Butler Zhao, you actually can relay a message to Rong Zhi for me.

504

Ma Xueyun is my daughter.

505

I usually treat her like a precious treasure.

506

Anyone who does anything to her will pay the price.

507

Since he dared to do this,

508

he surely would pay for it.

509

Chancellor Ma...

510

Your Highness! Your Highness!

511

Seeing at how happy you are, what fun thing has happened?

512

Your Highness, you said it right. Isn't it there is a good news

513

that was sent to our doorsteps?

514

If my memory is right, you were still stomping with rage this morning.

515

Feeling so upset for being unable to kill those red pearl-scale fishes. And now, you're so happy already?

516

Isn't it because I've thought of a way to make up for my failure?

517

Say it. What is it?

518

Today—

519

You all leave first.

520

Today Chancellor Ma charged into the Prince Regent's manor and caused a huge scene!

521

Ma Zhongliang?

522

To make this old fox fly into such a rage,

523

there is only his beloved daughter, Ma Xueyun who can do so.

524

And no one else.

525

Indeed. For the sake of his green hat, Rong Zhi

526

also flew into a rage and locked Ma Xueyun up!

527

Wouldn't this offend Chancellor Ma who loves his daughter like his own life?

528

Originally they were both singing the same tune,

529

Now they are both glaring at each other, their partnership is ruined!

530

Ruined?

531

I don't think it's that easy.

532

Even if they have not, it will happen soon.

533

Today Ma Zhongliang already said,

534

he will make Prince Regent regret!

535

Really?

536

He actually made the old fox say such things,

537

he must be in a huge fury.

538

Who says he isn't?

539

Originally he was protected left and right,

540

now there are storms in his east and west, threatening to burn down his manor!

541

This is a great chance for us.

542

We should take the chance while he is ill to get his life!

543

You, woman! You actually dare eavesdrop on us?

544

Your Highness! Zi Sun tea is indeed of high quality.

545

Not only does it have a rich green colour, it has a wonderful scent.

546

Anyone who smells it feels like enjoying it.

547

You are still here acting and pretending.

548

Your Majesty, this woman-

549

Qi Heng. Do you remember what I told you?

550

No matter how good this tea is, it still must be accompanied by quality spring water. Correct?

551

Unfortunately, my skills in tea making is not up to standard. I've wasted such good tea.

552

It's alright. Next time if there is the chance,

553

I will brew tea for you, how does that sound?

554

Naturally that would be great.

555

However, since Your Highness is busy, I shall not disturb you.

556

I will take my leave.

557

No need. All the things we need to talk about have been said.

558

Qi Heng, follow what we discussed just now. You may leave.

559

Your Highness!

560

Leave.

561

Yes.

562

[Anle Hall]

563

I have something to report.

564

Your Majesty, please look.

565

This is a most sought after treasure in Pingcheng right now.

566

Red pearl-scale fish skin.

567

Your Majesty, I heard that Empress Dowager Feng received a belt made of red pearl-scale fish skin.

568

And Feifeng General was able to obtain a precious sword whose scabbard was made from red pearl-scale fish skin.

569

Not only that, even Your Majesty's harem

570

who are of higher rank are competing to imitate her

571

and have been buying these fish skins throughout the city.

572

In just a short 3 days, the price of red pearl-scale fishskins

573

in Pingcheng has increased by 10 times.

574

Chancellor Ma, this is just an accessory item of ordinary women. Why must you be concerned about it?

575

What Prince Regent means is

576

that this is just a small matter that's the concern of women?

577

Chancellor Ma, why don't you speak frankly?

578

Your Majesty, you are mandated by the heaven to rule Wei.

579

The ruler that all citizens of Wei admire and worship.

580

Towards the citizens, Your Majesty has always loved them like your own children.

581

You worry about their problems, and share their happiness.

582

Now, our Wei is not very peaceful.

583

The lives of the citizens are also very hard.

584

But Prince Regent, what about you?

585

You kept doing these

586

extravagant and licentious things.

587

You kept procuring some jewelries and delicacies.

588

Leading everyone from all ranks to imitate, causing a general trend.

589

The whole Pingcheng is full of warbler singing and swallow dancing (scene of gaiety).

590

Extravagant practices are rampant.

591

Prince Regent, you still say that this is a small matter that is a concern of women?

592

Let me dare ask you then. What is a major matter?

593

Must the whole empire be full of uprisings and citizens in dire straits for it to be a major matter?

594

Your Majesty, I definitely didn't mean that.

595

Didn't mean that?

596

Your Highness Prince Regent, since you don't have such intentions,

597

how then do you intend to explain these items that sap one's spirit through seeking pleasures?

598

I just gave Empress Dowager a gift out of familial affection.

599

Familial affection?

600

Your Majesty, I definitely can't agree with Prince Regent's explanation.

601

As the Prince Regent of Wei, he shouldn't be just the family of Empress Dowager,

602

but more Your Majesty's loyal subject and a model subject for all government officials.

603

He should live his days by being hardworking and thrifty, make oneself an example.

604

But he? He always just think of that fish pond that earns him money everyday.

605

A fish pond that breeds the most precious fishes in the world.

606

Just worrying everyday on how to amuse Empress Dowager.

607

Prince Regent, don't forget.

608

It is exactly because of King Dixin's debauchery and indulgence in pleasures

609

that led to the sudden toppling of the Shang Dynasty.

610

This is a lesson that we should learn from history!

611

Your Majesty, I am painstakingly doing this

612

just for the stability of our Wei empire,

613

just for Your Majesty's love for the citizens.

614

If I said anything wrong,

615

I ask Your Majesty to punish me as you like. I will not say anything against it.

616

Prince Regent, do you admit to your mistake?

617

Every word that Chancellor Ma said is indeed penetrating criticism against my actions.

618

I feel too ashamed to show my face.

619

Since you already admit to your mistakes, then destroy all these extravagant items.

620

You must not give them out again next time. Regarding that fish pond...

621

I will sell off the fish pond.

622

From now on, I will not touch these items that sap one's spirit through seeking pleasures?

623

Other than that, hope Prince Regent from now on

624

can quietly reflect on your mistakes and strictly follow the moral laws.

625

My subjects, you all should also learn from this and not make the same mistake again.

626

We will abide by Your Majesty's decree.

627

Chancellor Ma, please wait.

628

Your Highness Prince Kang, what do you want to ask?

629

Chancellor Ma, the words I told you before is still in effect until now.

630

The doors of Prince Kang Manor is always open for you.

631

What does Your Highness think of me?

632

Chancellor is naturally an important official of the government, a pillar of the state.

633

Your Highness, I've been an official of the state for so many years.

634

I have on principle. I never ally with any person

635

or any group.

636

No matter if it's you or Prince Regent.

637

So sorry. I don't have any intention of siding with anyone.

638

Chancellor Ma, you have misunderstood. I am just showing some goodwill—

639

Your Highness, in the court today,

640

I openly reprimanded Prince Regent

641

for the benefit of our Wei empire,

642

because he initiated extravagant practices that is disadvantageous to Wei and the citizens.

643

If one day, Your Highness Prince Kang will also do the same thing,

644

I will also uphold righteousness and be frank about it.

645

Hope Your Highness takes care.

646

Your Highness, no need to walk me out anymore.

647

Thank you for Chancellor Ma's teachings. I surely will remember them.

648

Your Highness!

649

- How did it go?

- Prince Regent indeed is selling the fish pond.

650

Then it means that Chancellor Ma is indeed very angry this time.

651

He caused Rong Zhi to lose both face and source of income.

652

This fish pond is a collection of precious fishes from all over Wei.

653

It is well liked by high officials and nobility.

654

A fish pond that he has been operating for so long that is very lucrative, he actually can bear to sell it?

655

He got scolded right to his face by His Majesty.

656

Even if he doesn't want to liquidate them, he must.

657

Or else, wouldn't he have become

658

an imbecile Prince Regent that sap's one's spirit through seeking pleasures?

659

But...let us buy the fish pond of Prince Regent.

660

- The fish pond?

- The fish pond.

661

The red pearl-scale fishes that were raised this year were indeed very good.

662

Put it here.

663

Look.

664

The pearl on it was just pasted.

665

This is not the red pearl-scale fish at all.

666

Those are not red pearl-scale fishes! What are they?!

667

Lord Qi, please spare me. I really don't know. I really don't know, Lord Qi!

668

You don't know. Do you know or not?!

669

- Enough!

- I don't know...

670

The person who fooled you isn't him.

671

The person who fooled you is the Prince Regent of Wei.

672

You didn't fail last time.

673

All the red pearl-scale fishes have been poisoned to death.

674

The water source got contaminated so the whole fish pond is already useless.

675

And Rong Zhi used this opportunity

676

to remove the skin of all the red pearl-scale fishes and convert them into goods.

677

First, he used my love for Huo Xuan and incited my jealousy.

678

Next, he gave the item to Empress Dowager Feng.

679

And use her hand to gift them to my Royal Mother. Everything then naturally fall in to pieces.

680

- But Ma Zhongliang—

- Don't you still get it?

681

Can you use your brain?

682

Chancellor Ma is scheming and farsighted. The so-called turning hostile against Prince Regent was an act they played for us.

683

They were afraid that we won't believe all these.

684

First, he played a severing of relationship act in the study.

685

He then went to the court to file a complaint. When I tried to test him,

686

he showed me a 'not taking in oil or salt' appearance, (will not listen to anyone)

687

so I can drop my suspicions.

688

It's fake. All are fake!

689

Those bastards actually used such a trick.
