Qingli,

you want to go outside?

I want to go pray at Shuiyue Temple,

and stay there for several days.

It's good to relax in the countryside.

Wear more clothing,

it could be cold at night on the mountain.

Yes, mother.

Be careful.

Ok.

There are still more boxes.

Mianwan,

why didn't you eat?

I'm not hungry.

Don't act like a child.

We need be on our way tomorrow,

what if you get sick?

I really should drink a toast to you.

Thank you for raising me

for 18 years.

You raised me

even though you knew

that I was the daughter of your enemy.

How long have you known?

Not very long actually,

but long enough for me to understand

why no matter how much I tried,

you never cared

or even noticed

how much I cared about you.

You know exactly how I feel about you,

but you're marrying me to Ji State.

How could you be so merciless?

I've made some arrangements.

It's not what you think.

Arrangements?

I'm your servant, you're my lord,

so you think you can do

whatever you want in terms of my future

and my marriage?

No,

you've misunderstood.

You?

My lord!

My lord?

My lord! My lord!

Fire! Fire!

Here! Come here!

Quickly!

Who are you?

Put out the fire!

Have you seen Mianwan?

Have you seen Mianwan?

No!

Where's Mianwan?

Not inside!

Have you seen Mianwan?

No!

Miss!

Mianwan!

I'm here.

The house was suddenly on fire,

and I couldn't find you,

I was extremely worried!

Are you alright?

I'm fine.

I hurried to get out of the house

and forgot that you might be worried,

sorry.

Go get her dowry out now

or the journey will be delayed.

What is this place?

Where am I?

Who am I?

Why do I feel so heavy?

Who's dragging me down?

Who?

No matter how bad I am,

you taught me!

I wish Feng Mianwan's wish

comes true.

I suffered for 18 years!

I...

I hate you!

I'll take revenge on you!

I'll let all of you know

how it feels to be humiliated!

Lady Qingli!

Lady Qingli!

My lady!

Lady Qingli!

My lady, where are you?

My lady!

My lady!

Where are you, My lady?

Lady Qingli!

Where are you?

My lady!

Where are you?

My lady!

Lady Qingli!

Lady Qingli! My lady!

Lady Qingli! Lady Qingli!

Lady Qingli is here!

My lady!

Hold this.

My lady?

Lady Qingli?

Lady Qingli?

My lord, you're awake?

Yanxi.

You're badly hurt,

you'd better stay still

or your wounds will re-open.

I'm hurt?

How bad is it?

Both of your hamstrings were severed.

You won't fully recover

though they've been sewn up.

You can't walk for very long now,

or climb very high,

or move agilely

while fighting with others.

You saved me from the wolves,

why were you there?

Emperor of Yong asked to bring you back

after knowing you were Consort Jing's son.

But you had your own plan,

so His Majesty was upset.

He asked me to follow you

and persuade you to go back.

Last night,

when I was wandering around the inn,

I saw a palanquin leaving.

Why does it smell

like the medicine Lord Jing takes?

I snuck into the inn,

and found you weren't in your room,

so I suspected the palanquin.

But it was gone when I looked for it.

I should've followed it right away,

then you wouldn't have been hurt so badly!

Regardless,

I should still thank you.

I've received

a secret message earlier today

that the bride is safe

despite the raging fire.

They have already arrived at Xin City.

Don't worry about them.

My lady, you're awake?

Come here quickly!

Lady Qingli is awake!

Lady Qingli is awake!

My lady,

you're awake?

Who are you?

I...

Where am I?

My lady, you're in your room!

My room?

Who am I?

Qingli,

you're finally awake.

Who is Qingli?

And who are you?

My lady,

has she lost her mind?

My lord,

do you know who did this to you?

I can guess who it was

even though you won't answer.

Don't guess at random.

You love her so much,

and planned everything for her,

but instead, she betrayed you

and even tried to kill you!

She's such a vile woman,

yet you're still trying to defend her.

You are not her,

how could you understand her?

You are not me,

how could you understand me?

Alright,

I've misspoken.

You're truly an emotional man.

Your injuries are severe,

don't try to move.

Take this medicine first,

and rest for a few days.

Don't exert too much energy.

My child,

you've come back!

You've finally come back!

Don't be scared.

Something happened to you earlier,

so it's possible

that you've forgotten some things.

Have I?

Remember,

you're General Yuan Hao's daughter,

a Yuan family lady.

Your name is Yuan Qingli.

Your father died young,

but you can rely on your mother.

Your mother will always be here

to take care of you

whenever you need.

Mother?

A mother that I can rely on?

Why can't I feel anything?

It's alright,

you'll get better with time.

My lord!

My lord!

My lord!

My lord!

What's the matter now?

Something happened to Lady Qingli!

What?

My lady, spare me!

I just thought this sword was beautiful,

and wanted to look at it.

I wasn't trying to kill you.

You weren't trying to kill me?

But,

don't ask me to clean the backyard!

My lady, see,

here are the clothes you wore days ago.

I've washed them for you!

What's this?

I don't know, haven't seen it before.

My lord,

you must be patient!

Your injuries were severe.

It's already amazing that you can stand.

You still need more rest

so you can recover.

I heard

Yuan Qingli has been engaged in Yong.

I wonder if she can handle that.

Xiaolu,

what was I like before?

You?

You were extremely clever!

A music, chess, calligraphy,

and painting master.

Your poetry, singing, and dancing

were the best in the capital!

Good at tea ceremonies and embroidery.

The embroidery you made

for the Queen Mother's birthday

astonished everyone!

And even a little hanky you embroidered

is worth several thousand!

I was that amazing?

Yes.

You were indeed!

Qingli!

Qingli, as you asked,

I've brought your favorite zither

this time

to play that melody I mentioned.

I...

asked you to come?

Qingli,

we came to visit you

after hearing you were frightened,

why treat us like strangers?

Qingli, are you alright?

Qingli,

why are you treating us like this?

Stop right there!

Qingli!

Stay away from me!

Qingli!

Qingli!

Qingli!

Lady Qingli!

Qingli!

Miss Qingli!

Qingli!

I'm here!

Miss Qingli!

Lady Qingli!

Lady Qingli! Qingli!

My lady!

Lady Qingli!

Xiaolu, help me!

The one time I get to leave my room,

all those people suddenly appear.

My lady,

didn't you like them before?

I liked them?

Yes!

You said Lord Jia was gentle,

Lord Yi was elegant,

and the others also had their own merits.

They were all your good friends!

They were my good friends?

Yes!

You liked them a lot!

Did I like them...

doing

this?

And this?

What's wrong with that?

I don't know,

but I think those two in the pavilion

looked like two caterpillars!

Those two lords are so handsome!

How could you say that?

I finally got past those two

when suddenly,

there were more caterpillars waiting!

So scary!

But they could only come here so freely

because you liked them.

My lady,

are you sick?

I just remembered,

sorry,

you are indeed sick!

I think I'm sick, too.

But I'm not sure if I was sick before

or just sick now.

I don't think Feng Mianwan would hurt me,

I've sent a letter to A'heng,

asking him to investigate.

You're going to Yong State?

You might not know,

but His Majesty loves Consort Jing dearly.

There's still a palace that

stores Consort Jing's belongings.

After so many years,

with all the other consorts,

he still goes to that palace often

and spends hours sitting there.

Yanxi,

I just want to rest here quietly.

Yes, my lord.

Sorry,

but I don't want to talk about my mother.

I understand, my lord.

Yanxi,

if you don't mind,

please call me Jing Ci from now on.

Jing Ci.

What did you say?

I'll marry Lord Mu Beiyan next month?

They've decorated the bridal chamber,

and are waiting for the wedding to come.

But,

I have so many male friends.

Doesn't Lord Mu Beiyan

mind at all?

Of course not!

You have admirers

all over the state.

Lord Mu Beiyan's admirers

are countless as well!

Well I mind!

My lady, you mean

you mind that he has admirers?

Enough,

I must leave as soon as possible!

My lady,

are you going to run away

and travel the world?

You want to stop me?

No, no!

It's very romantic

to travel the world.

So you wouldn't go without me,

right?

What?

Since you studied under Doctor Ji Bo,

your skills are remarkable.

Without your healing hands,

I would already be dead.

You only hurt your legs,

but since you're very weak internally,

your acute disease

has worsened

your symptoms.

I'm afraid

your days are numbered.

What did you just say?

His days are numbered?

Yes.

Did that girl do this to you?

Tell me!

You just left to escort the bride

and her party,

how could this have happened?

It must be her!

She hates you for marrying her to Ji State

so she took revenge on you!

If the officials who had accompanied you

hadn't sent us the news,

we never would have known what happened!

I knew all along

she'd be as ruthless as her mother!

Please don't make a fuss, Zhixia.

You think I'm fussing?

Where's Feng Mianwan?

I'll kill her right now!

Nobody may touch her!

My lord, are you insane?

Look what she's done to you.

Why are you still protecting her?

You're mistaken,

I'm not protecting her.

I will get revenge

by myself.

I hate her deeply as well.

Her life is mine to take.

I must kill her myself.

Good.

I'll wait for you to do that.

Zhixia,

my father must be worried about me

after getting the news.

Maybe you should go back first

and tell him my current situation,

so he'll stop worrying.

Alright.

Then I'll go back now.

My lady! My lady!

My lady!

It's terrible!

That naughty girl!

She said she didn't want to get married,

and she would not come back

until her engagement was canceled!

The wedding is next month,

if she runs away now,

how can I explain this to Prince of He?

Nianqi,

send people to search for her now!

Yes!

I'll ask them to search right now!

It seems

I must go to the palace.

Mrs. Yuan,

you really want to cancel the engagement?

It's not that easy

to cancel an engagement with my family!

I didn't agree with the engagement before,

and only accepted it reluctantly

because my son insisted.

And now you want to cancel it!

What do you take my family for?

If you insist on canceling the engagement,

Your Majesty, I beg you

to punish Mrs. Yuan and her daughter

for lying to you!

When

have they lied to me?

Yuan Qingli

ignored the imperial edict and ran away,

she disrespected your edict!

Mrs. Yuan concealed this fact

by trying to cancel the engagement,

that's how she lied!

Yuan Qingli and Mrs. Yuan

should be beheaded in the eastern market

as a warning to the public.

I just want to cancel her engagement,

yet you want to kill my daughter?

You talk about it so lightly

as if my family has no dignity!

This is punishable by law, am I wrong?

You!

Enough!

Stop arguing right now!

Did you even notice I am here?

Xue Cai.

Yes, Sire!

Deliver my edict:

spare no effort to find Yuan Qingli.

Since she doesn't want to marry,

after arresting her

send her to Cixin Nunnery

to be a nun until she dies,

and shall never marry.

Yes, Sire!

Prince of He.

Yes, Sire!

Are you satisfied now?

Thank you, Sire!

Alright, you may leave now.

Yes, Sire.

You Majesty.

Alright.

Mu Zhong is a serious man!

If I didn't punish Qingli,

he would never give up.

Listen,

I'll withdraw the edict

after he stops being angry.

Don't worry,

I won't actually make

Qingli become a nun.

But it'll be very difficult for her now

after the edict is delivered.

Qingli is a clever girl.

She can avoid the soldiers.

Besides,

is she even the real Yuan Qingli?

My lord!

Hurry!

Get me

some hundred-year-old ginseng

and some reishi!

I'm off to Yuan Mansion!

Stop!

Where do you think you're going?

You can't go anywhere today!

Father,

my fiancée was frightened

by gangsters,

I should visit her!

Stupid boy, are you still dreaming?

Yuan Qingli

said the wedding's off

before she ran off!

Look at yourself!

Even this kind of woman looks down on you!

Can you make something of yourself?

She ran off? Impossible!

Impossible?

Just look at yourself

in the mirror!

You spend every day being idle!

Apart from women and wine,

nothing can hold your attention

for more than one hour!

Do you have thorns on your behind

or nails on your feet?

Xiao Xiao!

Are you alright?

You little brat!

My lord!

Why didn't you tell me

such important news earlier?

I wanted to tell you,

but I couldn't find you!

My father is an arrogant man,

he looks down on everyone.

The Yuans humiliated him

by cancelling the engagement

he must be furious!

He's been angry the whole day

and has broken several cups.

I don't believe Qingli would do that.

She must have a good reason.

Go figure out

what happened to her

and where she is!

Yes.

Get out.

Yes.

Qingli?

It's you, Qingli?

I'm Feng Mianwan.

Feng Mianwan,

or Yuan Qingli,

I just want you.

I just want you.

No matter who I am,

as long as I can be with you,

I'll be content.

Xiaolu,

do I look pretty in this?

Yes, you look pretty in anything!

You're really clever!

Wearing men's clothing

is much easier to get around!

Plus, you look great in men's clothing,

even better than Lord Zhao Yan!

Who's Zhao Yan?

He's the one that you...

He's one of the caterpillars!

Why are there so many people

around the bulletin board?

My lady, let's go see what it's written!

Let's go!

Look here!

The daughter of Mrs. Yuan, Yuan Qingli,

violated the imperial edict and ran off.

She's ungrateful and lacks virtue.

Guards have been sent to arrest her.

Anyone who is harboring her

will be punished with her.

Report to their local officer...

Oh no! Oh no!

I'm wanted for disregarding the edict.

And they want to arrest me!

What should we do?

What do you think?

Run, quickly!

Jing Ci,

you should've rested more

before going to Yong State.

Mrs. Yuan is favored by His Majesty.

Yuan Qingli won't be punished

even if she's arrested.

Since you came,

His Majesty must have known

about Yuan Qingli and Feng Mianwan.

His Majesty misses you a great deal.

He's afraid that you won't come back,

that's why he made this decision.

Once you get to the Western Capital,

you can explain it to him in person,

I believe he won't be hard on her.

Alright.

Jing Ci!

Are you my Jing Ci?

You're not well,

forget the formalities.

Thank you, Sire.

Xue Cai, you may leave.

Yes.

Come.

Come here.

I've prepared

some Zisun tea just for you.

Have a taste.

It'll be cold soon.

Sit.

Zuo Yanxi told me

that you don't feel well

these days.

Your legs are bothering you again,

and

you came without resting.

I was really worried after hearing that.

I was born premature

after my mother was attacked.

I've had this disease since I was born.

You refused to come back

because you blamed me

for what happened to her?

My mother couldn't forget that

and she was still thinking about it

until her death.

So she made a will,

and asked the King of Zhao to raise me.

She wanted me to end relations

with Your Majesty.

She wanted my own son to end relations

with his father?

Yes.

And she named me

as she was dying.

"Jing" is my mother's family name,

"Ci" means "farewell to the past".

Farewell to the past?

I know your mother hated me,

but I didn't know

she hated me that much.

I admit

I did turn my back on her,

but her temper was too strong

at that time.

Since you've told me this today,

will you respect her wishes

and end relations with me?

My body is weak,

I need to rest quietly.

If you admit I'm your son prematurely,

everyone will start to speculate.

Actually, I don't think

it's that important

to announce our relationship,

because wherever I am,

I can never deny

that the blood in my body

came from you.

What do you think?

Good,

you're right.

Let's temporarily put this matter on hold.

Jing Ci,

right now,

just focus on getting healthy, alright?

Yes.

Also,

I have one more thing

to ask of you.

Is it about the girl named Yuan Qingli

who just arrived here?
