The Love Lasts Two Minds

Episode 24

[Palace of He]

Try some. They are made fresh.

Tastes really good.

What’s up?

Nothing.

I heard the Emperor has decreed

you inherit Lord He’s title.

You are already a Lord,

you should spend your time on real business.

I did.

I’ve been accompanying you

to Pei Si

and Wu Liu’s places

trying to find out

the truth of your kidnap.

It is real business too.

This is just my personal business

not real business.

My wife’s thing is always the real business for me,

no matter how small it is.

Lord Junior,

my lady.

Hi, Mr. Nian.

What brings you here, Mr. Nian?

Madam asks me to take Miss Yuan back.

Do you know what it is for?

The royal family has the convention of hunting in autumn and winter.

This time,

the Emperor is going to hunt in Mount Wan’an.

Madam will go there serving him.

She asked you to come too

for recreation.

So she asked me to take you back

to pack your things.

Have fun.

I’ll be waiting for you in the capital.

[Dyeing Workshop]

Apart from some princes,

and some royal members,

the Emperor also asked Jing Ci

to attend the hunting.

Duke Duan has been sick for a while.

Why is he going too?

He almost blocked us in Qinhe,

does he look like a sick person?

You mean he’s pretending to be sick

with some intentions?

Exactly.

Madam Yuan

has been father’s friend since childhood.

People say she’s the one in father’s heart.

But how can she compare

with Consort Jing.

Unfortunately, after we tried so many times,

he still got away.

We still have a chance in the hunting.

This time,

you come with me.

I would love to accompany you to Mount Wan’an

and kill Duke Duan.

It will be crowded and chaotic

during hunting,

which will definitely give us a chance.

Okay,

then show me

what you have.

Yes, sir.

[Collections of Medicament ]

Ci,

why are you here?

I thought you are preparing

for the hunting with the Emperor.

That’s why I’m here.

Yanxi,

I wish you can go with me

for the hunting.

Me?

I haven’t had the fun

of hunting

for a long time.

Today,

you must show me your courage,

and what you are capable of.

Let’s go.

[The Palace of Phoenix]

My lady,

my lady,

my lady.

You think it wrong.

He doesn’t let you go

for your safety.

So many men are hunting there,

what if

they accidentally hurt you?

Changle was there,

Feng Mianwan was there,

and even Consort Qiao was there.

Why not me?

Princess Changle has always been a wild child.

She can go straight into

investigating the bloody case.

How can you compare yourself to her?

What about Feng Mianwan?

Even if she’s got the identity

of Yuan Qingli,

she barely maintained the dignity

of the Palace of Yuan

with her dissolute mom.

Why can she go with the Emperor too?

You know her mother is dissolute.

But the Emperor of Yong

is fooled by her.

The dignity maintained in this way

is not comparable to yours.

You’ll see.

Nobody wants her

except that playboy Mu Beiyan.

But Ci wants her.

See, Ci

was never

interested in hunting.

But this time, with Feng Mianwan going,

he went too.

Emperor asked him to go.

He has no choice.

No matter how his father failed his mother,

he’s still the Emperor of Yong.

They being close to each other

do no harm to him or you.

He’ll definitely take this chance

to catch up with Feng Mianwan.

No, my lady.

He won’t.

From Zhaozhou to Yong State,

she’s like ghost haunting

between me and Jing.

I won’t let her get away.

Why don’t you go hunting, Duke Duan?

I don’t feel quite well these days.

The Emperor asked me to have a walk,

so I came.

Why don’t you go hunting then, Lord Qing?

I’m not good at it.

Don’t think I’ll hunt many birds or preys.

You are being too modest.

I heard you are famous for poems and writings,

but you always have military officers teach you martial arts.

I believe you are good at it.

Even though I know some,

I don’t want to use it for hunting.

In this troubled time, people are living a rough life.

It’s not easy for animals to reproduce.

But father rarely has the mood to enjoy hunting,

I don’t want to stop him.

I’m not hunting,

so many lives might be spared because of it.

Then

why should I be part of it?

I see.

Then let’s go back and wait

instead of standing in the cold wind.

Okay.

Zhao Yan,

Zhao Yan!

What’s wrong, princess?

Did you see Yuan?

No.

That’s weird.

I just saw her

chasing a pheasant,

but the next second she disappeared.

Do you need anything else?

It’s quite solitary and wild in the mountain,

isn’t it a good idea

for us to stay together?

It’s quite late,

let’s go back.

Okay,

let’s go.

I can have chicken soup again.

Chicken soup…

Come on, have more.

The leaves taste really good.

Does it taste good?

Does it taste like lamb?

Have more.

Bro,

why are you doing this?

This rabbit is pregnant.

Your shoot

might have killed a few lives.

What a loser you are,

having pity on a stupid animal.

Why would father

have a son like you?

Lord Ye.

Miss Yuan.

I’m almost done with hunting

on my way back.

Let’s go back together.

Okay.

Ci, you want to see me?

I have something to tell Princess Changle.

Me?

Princess Changle,

a word, please?

Okay.

Father.

Please forgive me.

Why did Duke Duan

want to see you?

Why do you ask this?

Does it have anything to do with you?

You are always in the palace,

so maybe nobody told you.

Ci is also the Emperor’s…

Both of you are unmarried.

Meeting in private

might do harm to your reputation.

Zhao Yan,

are you jealous?

I’m not.

You misunderstood me.

You nerd

finally understand.

You are back.

Lord Ye,

how’s your hunting?

Father,

I didn’t hunt anything.

Yuan,

I saw you captured a lot preys just now.

I did catch a few.

There’s a fat pheasant

which can definitely make good soup.

Good,

good.

Have a rest.

Lu told me

you love chicken soup.

When we are back,

I’ll let the kitchen

make soup for you with the pheasant you hunted.

Chicken...

Chicken soup.

I do love it.

Where’s Jing Ci?

Lord Qing,

Lord Bo,

how’s hunting today?

Brother Bo had caught the most, of course.

We simply cannot match.

Riding and shooting are what a man should be capable of.

I just followed father’s instruction

and practiced more.

Why isn’t Duke Duan back?

Your majesty,

the forest stretches

hundreds of miles.

He might have gone far.

I’ve sent some people to find him.

They should be on their way back.

Mr. Jing, please wait.

Lord Qing has something urgent to tell you.

Please come to his camp.

Okay.

Where’s Lord Qing?

Be patient, my lord.

He will be here soon.

I’ll make you some tea.

Go to find Lord Qing.

Yes, sir.

Sorry I have to do this

for me and Yanxi.

Come on, take another shot.

Come on.

Come on. Go.

Take Lord Ye back.

Yes, your majesty.

Somebody.

Mother,

I want to take a walk.

I’ve had too much too.

Let’s go together.

Worrying about Duke Duan?

No,

I’m not.

You had a history with him.

It’s natural to worry about him.

But today

he didn’t came to the main campus

on purpose.

Why?

I heard before

somebody complained about Lord Bo.

if Duke Duan knew it,

it would be the best choice

not to see him.

What is Lord Bo

up to this time?

Trying to be smart may not be the best choice now.

In this crucial moment,

we shouldn’t be part of it.

Okay.

Good.

Father,

I’ve hunted a treasure

today.

What is it?

A jade sika deer.

It is divined

and rare.

Indeed.

It is said

a jade sika deer

brings fortune and joy.

I would like to offer this treasure

to Father.

I wish our kingdom will flourish

and be unified.

Lord Bo,

this is where

you put your efforts.

All I wanted is to repay you,

and nothing else.

I am free to heed my heart.

Then answer me.

I asked you to be in charge of water conservation.

What did you do in Qinhe?

I...

I don’t understand.

Please tell me.

Okay, let me remind you.

I was tipped off

that central officials

secretly dug a branch

in midstream

to where

Kuang State stations their army

while managing Qinhe’s conservation.

Lord Bo,

what are you going to say

about that?

A branch?

I don’t know.

I have absolutely no idea.

How can you be unaware of it when you were managing it?

Master,

I’ve fulfilled the task.

Good.

Have you arranged things

afterwards?

It’s all settled.

His death

will definitely lead to Lord Qing.

Good.

Let’s see how Duke Duan

can still flirt with

Wang Zesheng all day long.

Damn it.

By now

the Emperor should be punishing Lord Bo.

They were always so

posing in front of me.

Let’s see

if they can

still put on airs

and talk down to me.

What an innocent

and harmless Lord Ye.

You are all here.

Duke Duan,

you are still alive!

I’ve checked just now.

He wasn’t breathing.

Don’t you know

there are some skills

to block your breath

that even the best doctors

can’t find out?

You recognized me before?

Back in Qinhe,

I didn’t go to Eatery often,

but I saw you a couple of times at distance.

You did look like a eunuch,

but I’m good at recognizing people.

You are good at tonic cuisine.

I know your talent in using medicine and poison.

How would I drink the tea you gave me?

You should go to find Lord Qing.

Running a restaurant in Qinhe

must be the order from Lord Ye,

Miss Jiang, right?

I dare not deceive you, Father.

After I went to Qinhe,

I entrusted the business of water conservation

to my subordinates.

I thought

they could fulfill their job

and nothing should go wrong.

So I didn’t check the watercourse very carefully.

I have no idea

about that branch.

Father,

it must be some villains

who want to set me up.

Father,

don’t be trapped by them.

You might have

told some truth.

You are good at

leading the army in battles.

But if I give something else,

I’m afraid you would be impetuous

and impatient.

It would be unbearable for you

even to sit in the camp

for half a day,

not to mention

managing the water conservation.

Yes.

No one knows me better than my father.

What you said is absolutely right.

I have a wise father.

You are prepared.

But I didn’t do anything wrong

in front of you.

How did you know?

As long as I can get rid of

your innocent cover,

it’s not hard to realize

no other prince

was in Qinhe all the time

when those cases happened

except you.

But when I left,

you didn’t suspect me.

That day, I broke into

your base in Qinhe

and found a badge

you left behind.

You killed the craftsman

who made it,

but I compared

the badges he made,

and found they are similar

to the badge you used

in materials and patterns.

They are made with

the same wood.

Anything else?

Before the base was destroyed,

I found

the secret color ware you left there.

After days of observation,

I found among all the princes,

only you, Lord Ye,

love such tea sets.

Now you said that,

I did miss something.

So you went close to Wang Zesheng

to bring me to lure.

I was not taking advantage of Wang Zesheng.

I knew

you probably would do something in this hunting.

So I asked Yanxi

to help me.

Now you are sure

that those cases in Qinhe

are plotted by Lord Ye.

In those cases,

Lord He

and Elder Princess Shengping

were all strong support for Lord Bo.

Once they died,

Lord Bo’s power is strongly damaged,

then Lord Ye will have a better chance.

Lord Ye has an evil mind,

and since you intervened,

you won’t let him have his way.

These days

I was either in the Royal Palace

or the Palace of Duan

taking every precautions.

Even if Lord Ye wanted to do something,

he couldn’t find a chance.

For him,

this hunting

can be a perfect chance.

Maybe

he’ll show who he really is

in this hunting.

Lord Ye,

you didn’t let me down.

My plot is not in vain.

I was indeed fooled by you.

After I killed so many people,

only you tracked down to me.

I admire

your wisdom.

Your majesty,

Lord Bo has accompanied you in battles of years.

He enjoys a reputation in armies.

If he wanted to betray you,

why would he need to recruit new people?

What do you think?

This whole thing is suspicious.

We should have a thorough investigation.

Before we find the truth,

I hope you don’t wrong the innocent.

Wrong the innocent?

It took me so long

to realize such a thing happened.

All of you here are innocent.

Then tell me,

who

is the one behind it?

Lord Ye,

you hide yourself with innocence for so many years.

How many people are fooled by you

and how many crimes you’ve committed?

Can you really sleep well

at midnight?

Why can’t you

just be a good prince?

I’ll tell you why.

My mother

is a belittled prostitute from Bozhou.

Ever since I was a child,

Father has never been fair to me.

All princes despise me

and laugh at me for being the son of a prostitute.

When I was five,

Lord Bo and Lord Fu peed on me,

and all I could do was to

laugh and act as a fool.

Changle,

never sees me as her brother.

Even a maid

can give me attitude.

And you,

all of you,

treat me as a crap,

a fool.

Who has ever cared for me?

Alright then.

If this is the how it is,

I’ll show you

what a crap is capable of.

I want you to know

this world

won’t always go the way

you wanted.

Lord Ye,

you are crazy.

I am.

You know,

when I killed the first person,

I was too scared to sleep the whole night.

But now,

no matter who died,

to me he’s just like a bug,

and doesn’t bother me at all.

Who’s the magistrate of Qinhe?

His name is Li Fei.

He’s been at that position for more than half a year.

Li Fei

has been negligent in his work

and wasted our money we paid him.

Why should we still keep him alive?

Take my order,

kill him.

Father,

please allow me

to justify him.

Say it.

He is guilty indeed,

but you ordered

the Secretary of Water, He Hong

to be in charge of the repairment of Qinhe dam.

Then you sent Lord Bo

to supervise it.

If He Hong or Lord Bo

didn’t allow Li Fei

to intervene,

how could he be part of it?

Please forgive me,

but if you look into it,

it’s because you gave the Ministry of Water

and Lord Bo too much power.

You made a point.

Then I’ll

exempt Li Fei from punishment

as what you said.

But you

as a son,

dared to censure me.

I said something indiscreet.

I am guilty.

Lord Qing spoke insolently.

For that I’ll cut off your salary for half a year.

Now you are telling me what to do?

If you have time,

go

and assist defense of the capital.

Be attentive to it.

Lord Bo,

you’ll be grounded in your palace.

You are not allowed to enter the royal palace without being summoned.

- Yes. - Yes.

- I shall follow your order. - I shall follow your order.

You despised yourself,

so you felt others were despising you.

You care too much about other people’s opinion.

That’s why you felt you were worthless.

You are a prince,

if you stop what you are doing,

I won’t tell the Emperor.

Tell the Emperor?

But

you don’t even have any evidence.

How can you justify what you said?

Are you going to show him

the tea cup

you saw in the cave?

Or the badge in your hand

with similar pattern?

Duke Duan,

don’t be so smug.

The people she killed in Qinhe

are the evidence.

You can explain to the Emperor yourself.

You are the assassin

who snooped in the county government that day.

You are the murderer

of Lord He, right?

Mr. Zuo,

are you okay, Mr. Zuo?

Go, master.

Yanxi,

are you okay?

I’ll take you back to heal you.

Yuan.

I heard

something happened with Lord Bo.

It’s all done.

Brother Bo

and Qing made Father angry

and got punished.

But it’s okay.

Everything will be alright after a few days.

What are you doing here?

Nothing.

You are worried about Duke Duan, right?

Zhao Yan told me

Zuo Yanxi was severely injured during hunting.

Duke Duan was worried

and sent him back to the capital.

Is that so?

Yuan.

Don’t think about it..

I wasn’t.

Maybe Wang Zesheng and Zuo Yanxi

is more important

to him than me.

That’s not true.

You don’t know

he asked me

about you.

I am right here.

He didn’t come to me

but asked you.

Well...

If a man

really likes a girl,

then whenever and wherever he is,

she is always

his priority.

Just as he’s always

my priority.

Maybe

he has his reason.

If he does,

then he should

make everything clear

in front of me.

No matter what he does,

I always trust him.

But

why

can’t he give me more trust?

Yuan.

Princess Changle,

Miss Yuan is here.

I heard Madam Yuan came to the Palace today.

So I wanted to invite you to have a walk here.

I’m fine.

Don’t worry about me.

Duke Duan didn’t come to you?

Ever since we are back from Mount Wan’an,

I’ve never seen

this Mr. Busy.

Really.

Is it because Zuo Yanxi

was hurt so badly?

Nonsense.

If so,

how can people in the Palace have no idea?

Besides, he’s not a doctor.

Why would Palace of He need his help?

If he came here,

he might be able to help

with today’s case.

You are worried they can’t solve the case?

I’m not afraid with you being here.

I caused you this trouble

because I bragged to Father.

Changle,

you always brag about yourself

being able to investigate cases.

I’ll hand this thing to you.

Yuan,

after being a constable for so long,

now you must

feel bored.

Go with Changle together.

Okay.

I’ll show you

what I got.

Come on,

separate them.

Who are they?

Princess,

I’ve found out

the dead girl is a new maid Sese.

The eunuch has been in the Palace for years,

called Yin.

They are all from Palace of Ye.

They probably drowned last night.

Seems that

they might have

drowned here.

Maybe they two

found it’s quiet here

and had some fun,

but slipped into water accidentally

with such a posture.

So it seems that

Yin slipped into water

with Sese on his back and died.

But normally people’s first response

should be clasping their hand

and climb up the bank.

How deeply attached

she is to rather die than clasp her hand.

Yin, after all, is just a eunuch.

No matter how they love each other,

with laws and regulations,

they can’t be couples in their life.

No matter

how touching it is,

story

is just a story.

Anything suspicious?

Please have a look, princess.

The eunuch’s lips are tightly closed

with arms and legs reaching forward

and hands gripping tight.

In his nails,

there are sands from the bottom of water

when he was struggling.

These are the typical evidences of drowning.

But this maid

was still in the posture

of being carried by the eunuch

on his back

with her legs crossing his waist

and her arms dropping on his chest.

Her eyes and mouth are widely open.

All these mean she was thrown into river

after she died.

You mean

she was dead before she’s in the water.

To be more precise,

she was carried on Yin’s back

when she’s just dead or almost dead.

And her bones gradually became rigid.

So once Yin slipped into water,

even though he wanted to get rid of Sese,

but she was on his back

with her bones being rigid.

So

the struggling he made

could not push Sese away.

This...

this sounds horrible.

Listen to this.

He was drowned to death,

so he has water in his belly.

But this one is empty.

They are all from Palace of Ye,

so seems that we have to go there.
