(Marty grunts)

(Marty) First rain, now wind? What a mess!

(Reporter) Now, how 'bout that storm, New York?

In other news, a Costa Rican sloth named Lucia

was found uptown!

No one knows how this world traveling sloth arrived,

but she'll be staying at a rescue habitat

at the Central Park Zoo.

(Melman) Hey, that's where we live!

(Ranger) Hey, kids!

(Marty) Mornin', Ranger!

You here to help the sloth settle in?

(Ranger) No, I'm here to see you!

I've got ten young horses graduating

to Park Ranger service tomorrow. Right now, they're practicing

their Graduation Trot through the park.

(Marty squeals)

Stripes?

(Marty) Oh, yes, ma'am?

I was just dreaming about the day

I'll be doing my own graduation trot.

(Ranger) Why don't you get a taste of it

and come watch the rangers graduate tomorrow? You'll be my guest.

-(Marty) You're kidding! -(Ranger) Do I look like I kid around?

(Melman) I don't think she kids around.

(Marty) I'll be there with bells on, Ranger!

(Ranger) Mm-hm. Bells are for cows.

But you can bring your Park Ranger hat!

(Marty) Yes, ma'am!

I'm going to get to see a real Ranger Horse Graduation!

I'll need to get plenty of sleep, and polish my hat,

and practice my trot, and--

(Ant'ney) Sloth day!

(Melman) Hey, Ant'ney! What's the word?

(Ant'ney) That world travelin' sloth

is havin' a Grand Reveal!

And I wanna get close to the, oh, sloth!

That's too close!

(Visitor) Huh?

(Kate) One for you. One for you.

-(Marty) World traveler, huh? -(Lucia) Hola!

(Lucia giggles)

-(Marty) Are you...? -(Lucia) I'm Lucia!

Mind if I do a little unpacking?

It's a bit crowded by the guest habitat.

(Alex) Uh, sure. I'm Alex, by the way.

Nice news report on you this morning.

(Lucia) Thanks!

But I think they should point their cameras

at more regal faces like yours!

(everybody laughs)

-(Melman) I'm Melman. -(Lucia) What beautiful hooves!

They sparkle like the Amazon River at dawn!

(Melman) I've always wanted to be sparkly!

(Gloria) I'm Gloria.

(Lucia) Oh, I love to meet a water spirit like myself.

(Gloria) I didn't know sloths swim!

(Lucia) I swim even faster than I walk!

-(Gloria) Uh! Me too! -(Marty) I'm Marty.

If you have questions about the rules

or how things work around here, I'm your zebra!

(Lucia) Rules? You're funny!

Oh, my travel pillow.

Ooh, itchy.

(everybody gasps)

(Alex) Marty, look away!

(Marty) Did you just rip the tag off that pillow?

(Lucia) Yup! Why? It's just a tag.

(Marty) It's not "just a tag."

I can't read, but even I know it says:

Do not remove under penalty of the law!

(everybody) Under penalty of the law.

(Lucia) Well, I can read, and it says right here:

"Dude, chill". It's just a tag.

(everybody gasps)

I'm kidding, of course.

You're not gonna tell on me, are you?

(Marty) Uh, no?

(Lucia) You really follow every rule, huh?

(Marty) You don't get to Graduation Trot

by ripping tags off pillows.

(Slothies) We want a sloth!

(Alex) Sounds like your Grand Reveal is starting.

-(Melman) Shouldn't you be over there? -(Lucia) I guess you're right.

I hear New Yorkers are fond of "being on time."

But I'll be back soon to hang out with my new friends!

That's all of you! Until then, pura vida!

(Gloria) Did we just meet our new favorite animal?

'Cause it sure feels like it!

(Alex) Should we go watch her perform?

-(Melman) Yes, please! -(Marty) Y'all have fun.

I've got lots to do before the graduation ceremony tomorrow!

Trot, trot, gait. Trot, trot, gait.

A-trot, trot, gait. A-trot, trot, gait.

A-trot, trot--

-(Lucia) Hola! -(Marty) Ah! Ugh!

-(Lucia) I'm back! -(Marty) Phew. You startled--

Ah!

(Gloria) Surprise!

(Alex) After the Grand Reveal,

Lucia taught us how to hang upside down!

(Melman) From the tree!

(Marty) Yeah, I figured that.

(everybody grunts)

(Lucia) We're going to build sculptures

with the sand I got at Bondi Beach.

I love souvenirs!

(Marty) I should get ready for tomorrow.

Ranger Hoof invited me herself,

and I want to make a good impression.

(Alex) C'mon, Marty!

You have all of tomorrow to get ready.

(Melman) Uh-huh!

(Gloria) And Lucia's just here for one day!

(everybody) Please!

(Marty) Yeah, okay.

(Lucia) Voila! The Eiffel Tower!

(Alex) I made a dumpling cart!

(Gloria) Check out my prima ballerina.

(Melman) Mine's a fire truck!

(Melman imitates siren)

(Marty) Ranger Horse Graduation!

Thanks, Lucia, it was fun to make this,

and imagine tomorrow's big day.

(Lucia) We haven't even gotten to the best part!

-Knocking them down! -(Marty) What?

(Lucia) Sand is always changing, the harder you hold it,

the faster it slips through your claws.

Since they can't stay like this forever,

we might as well have fun with them.

Au revoir, Eiffel!

Ah! Ah!

(Gloria) Wow! Hiya! Ah, ah!

(Alex) Ooh! Me next! Yah! Whoa!

(Alex chuckles)

(Marty) I think I'm just gonna keep mine

how it is.

(Melman) Bye-bye, firetruck!

(Marty) Huh?

(Melman imitates siren)

(Marty) Uh-oh. Ah! Melman, watch out!

(Melman) Oh! Oh! Ah! Uff!

(Marty) Ugh!

(Lucia) Whoops! Sorry about that.

Guess I must've lost my marbles!

(Gloria laughs)

(Gloria) You are fun.

Too bad you can't stay, but I'm glad

we got to spend the day with you.

-(Alex) Where will you go? -(Lucia) Wherever I want!

After taking a left at where the wind takes me.

(Melman) Sounds far!

(Marty) Well, it's been a wild and, uh,

messy day with you, Lucia. Good luck getting home.

(Kate) Buenas Noches, Central Park!

I have exiting news!

After speaking with the sloth rescue

in Costa Rica, I am happy to say

Lucia will be staying in New York for good!

Looks like it's gonna be Sloth Day every day!

(Gloria) Did ya hear that, Lucia?

Looks like you are home!

(everybody cheers)

*

Huh? What time is it?

And what sort of animal sound is that? Uh!

*

(Lucia) Pura vida,Marty! You're up early!

(Marty) Heh. Wonder how that happened.

(Lucia) I'm mostly nocturnal, so I'm up all night.

I welcome the sunrise every morning

with a dance and a song! Were you still trying to sleep?

(Marty) It's okay.

I have a lot to do today

before the Graduation Trot anyway.

I'm working on my Park Ranger Horse smile.

I want it to say "I'm here to help,

but I mean business."

(Melman) I think that says "I ate spinach."

(Marty) Oh! Uh, better go brush these ivories!

(both chuckle)

Has anyone seen my tooth...

(Lucia sighs)

Brush!

(Lucia) Oh. You mean this thing? Whoops!

I found it near that big box of souvenirs

and thought it was a backscratcher.

(Lucia humming)

I dig your collection.

(Marty sighs)

(Marty grunts)

(Marty) He-he, thanks, but it's not a collection, heh.

It's a very organized system of temporarily unhomed items.

It's a lost and found.

(Lucia) Lost and yet found. Aren't we all?

(Marty) Uh, yeah. Hey, you like souvenirs, right?

Instead of playing with that stuff,

maybe you can play with this. It's a keepsake.

(Lucia) Oh, gracias! I'll treasure it forever!

(Gloria) I never thought to try

a toothbrush as a backscratcher, ah, but, aw, yeah.

(Alex) Pura vida,amiright?

(Gloria) Oh, yeah!

(Melman) Lucia, what does "pura vida"mean?

(Lucia) It's a Costa Rican motto.

It means kick back, go with the flow,

and enjoy life.

(Gloria) Here in New York, we like to say:

"Move it, Mister!"

(everybody laughs)

(Lucia) You New Yorkers move fast.

But you can explore the world

and still make time to stop and smell the African daisies!

* Pura Vida! *

* Ay! Así, así! *

* Pura Vida! *

* Let go! *

* Pura Vida! *

* Ay, ay, ay *

* Pura Vida! *

* Listen *

* Pura Vida means pure life *

* So let me see you let Your worries go *

* Always-oh-oh! Live it up all day and night *

* I wanna see All of your colors show *

* Show *

* Pura Vida *

* Yeah! *

* Nothing could be sweeter *

* Go! *

* When you just Unwind your mind *

* Let loose and go With the flow *

Ah!

* Pura Vida *

* You *

* Relax and kick your feet up *

* Así *

* Go on and pretend My friend *

* That you got nowhere to go *

* Pura Vida! **

(Lucia) Namaste. Anyone up for more yoga?

(Gloria) Uh, namas-yay!

(Marty) Thanks, but I'm go memorize the pictures

in the Park Ranger handbook,

-in case it comes up in conversation. -(Alex) Good luck, Marty!

(Marty) Alright. That is an official looking pose!

(Melman) Hey, Marty!

This upside down thing's pretty fun!

(Alex) Yeah, Marty, you gotta try it!

(Marty) Thanks, but I gotta keep things right side up

for the Graduation. Check out my trot.

(Lucia whistles)

(Lucia) Nice trot! I like this custom.

(Marty) Thank yo-ow!

(Marty squeals)

Ugh!

(Marty grunts)

There's another New York custom,

it's called "picking up your things."

New Yorkers love organization.

-(Gloria) We do? -(Marty) Yes, we do!

That way, we always know where our things are.

Like me with my Park Ranger Horse hat.

Which I always keep in my cave, hanging right over...

My hat! It's gone.

(Alex) It's gotta be here somewhere.

*

(Marty) Ugh, we're never gonna find it in time!

(Lucia) Maybe change the way you look for it.

Have you tried standing on your head?

-(Marty) What? No! I-- -(Lucia) Then again,

if you love something, you should set it free.

(Marty) But I don't want to set my hat free!

(Ranger Hoof) Stripes!

(Marty) Uh, Ranger Hoof!

(Ranger) Just had to meet the legend

the whole zoo's talking about.

(Lucia) The pleasure is all mine. Woo-ah, cool hat!

(Ranger Hoof) Marty has a hat just like it.

Is it all shined up for the Graduation Trot?

(Marty gasps)

(Lucia) No, Marty, is that the hat--

(Marty) That's right, Lucia! Still workin' on it,

but it's gonna be so bright you'll need shades. See ya soon, Ranger!

(Ranger Hoof) Mm-hmm.

*

-(Alex) What's wrong, amigo? -(Marty) All of this!

Ever since Lucia arrived,

things have been inside out and upside down.

(Melman) Really? I hadn't noticed.

(Marty) I used to know what we were gonna play,

where my stuff was and how things were gonna be.

But then she came with her pura vida

and jumbled it all up.

My first chance to go to a real Park Ranger Horse Graduation

is ruined and it's all her fault!

(Lucia) I hate to interrupt.

-(Marty) Huh... -(Gloria) Woo-oh.

(Marty) I was just, uh, talkin' about another Lucia.

Yeah, you don't know her.

(Melman) He didn't mean it! He takes it all back!

(Lucia) It's okay, Melman.

He was just sharing his feelings.

I hope you find your hat, Marty.

Like I said, try changing your point of view.

(Gloria) I feel awful

and I'm not even the one who stuck my hoof in my mouth.

(Marty) I didn't mean to hurt her feelings,

but she did mess up everything!

She's behind me again, isn't she?

(Lucia) Forgot this.

(Melman) Come upside down with me, Marty!

It'll make you feel better.

(Marty) You really think standing on my head

is gonna solve everything?

(Melman) Mm-hmm, mm-hmm!

(Marty) Ugh! There! Happy?

No big deal, it does nothing for me,

and I'm no closer to finding my...

hat?

But, how?

Oh!

(Marty panting)

The windstorm!

*

"Change your point of view." Lucia was right!

I didn't lose my hat after all. But I think I lost a friend.

(everybody panting)

Lucia? Anybody there?

(Melman) Pura vida?

(Marty panting)

(Alex) Ooh, maple leaves.

(Melman) The official leaf of Canada!

(Gloria) This looks like a bus schedule.

(Marty) She must be taking a bus to Canada!

(Ranger) Stripes! Graduation is about to start,

and I've got a great spot for you to watch from.

(Marty) Ranger,

I really appreciate this opportunity but...

something more important has come up.

I messed something up with a friend, Lucia,

and it's up to me to make it right.

(Ranger Hoof) Hmm, an admirable mission.

-Well, good luck. -(Marty) Thank you, ma'am.

(Marty gasps)

C'mon, we've got a disappearing sloth to find!

Pickles! Dave!

Have you seen an adventure-bound sloth come this way?

(Pickles) Yep!

She said she was in search of faraway lands, new amigos,

and someone named "Veeda" some-or-other?

(Dave chatters)

Dave's really gonna miss her.

She gave him her teddy bear souvenir

as a goodbye present!

(Marty) That's it! Lucia may be leaving New York,

but there's no way she's leaving without picking up

a souvenir first! I know where to find her.

(Pickles) And there's no way

you're leaving without paying a toll first.

(Melman) Please, it's an emergency!

We gotta find Lucia!

-(Gloria) Please, pretty please! -(everybody) Please!

(Pickles) Alright, just this once.

But this is for her, not you!

*

(everybody screams)

* Aomoa, aomoa, aomoa *

* Whoo! *

* Let's go find A little adventure *

* Let's make it A day to remember *

* Let's find something new We can explore *

* Ooh, explore *

* Let's go find A little adventure *

* Let's make it A day to remember *

* Let's charge Through every open door *

* Adventure's calling! **

*

(everybody panting)

(Melman) Ooh! This one's cute!

(Gloria) There's a whole lotta souvenirs,

but no sloth.

(Alex) Uh! We must've just missed her!

(Marty gasps)

(Marty) There! By the subway!

It's too crowded in here,

I can't see! Melman, you got eyes on her?

(Melman) Mm...

I see her!

(Melman grunts)

But I can't get to her!

-(Marty) 'Scuse me. -(Gloria) Pardon me.

(Melman imitates siren)

-(Commuter) Quit pushing! -(Marty) It's no good.

We're stuck!

(Murray) Huh?

(Murray sighs)

Tourists.

(Marty) Ah, she got off! Quick, let's go!

(everybody panting)

(Alex) Ant'ney!

(Ant'ney) Huh? Hey, kids! What's your hurry?

(Alex) We're trying to catch Lucia

before she leaves town.

(Ant'ney) Oh, what's the scoop with ol' three toes?

(Marty) I hurt her feelings, so she's leaving town.

But we don't want her to go.

(Gloria) So we're not giving up.

(Ant'ney) Well, then, I'm going up.

Hmm, there she is! She's going into the hotel!

*

(everybody panting)

(everybody gasps)

(Marty) I don't get it.

if she's leaving town, why would she come here?

(Ant'ney) The bus to Canada

leaves from the other side of the river.

(Gloria) She's heading for the roof!

(Alex) The roof? There's nothing up there, but a helicopter.

Oh! A helicopter!

(everybody panting)

(Lucia sighs)

(everybody screams)

(everybody gasps)

(Marty) Is it just me

or is Lucia extremely impressive?

(Gloria) How are we going to get all the way

across the river in time, when I'm the only fast swimmer?

(Marty) If we're gonna catch Lucia,

we're gonna have to think like Lucia. Uh!

Pura. Vida.

(Ant'ney) Huh!

(everybody screams)

*

* Yeah, I messed up *

* Now I'ma fess up *

* I didn't get ya Wanted living with us *

* But now I understand And I wanna know more *

* So take me by the hand And help me explore *

* Oh, yeah That's right! *

* Yeah, you belong **

(speaker) Last call for the bus to Montreal.

(Marty grunts)

(Lucia sighs)

-(Melman) Oh-oh. -(Marty) Lucia.

-(Melman) She's gone. -(Gloria) We could keep going!

(Alex) Yeah, we could chase her to Canada.

How far could it be?

(Marty) No. A wise sloth once told me:

"When you love something, set it free."

If Lucia wants to go, we gotta let her go.

(Ant'ney gasping)

(Ant'ney) Next time, remind me

that pigeons can't keep up with jet skis. Ah!

(Melman) We were too late.

(Ant'ney) Ah, no. I'm sorry, kids.

The first heartbreak's always the hardest.

(Lucia sighs)

*

(Gloria) Maybe we could send her a postcard?

(Alex) Does anybody know the address of Canada?

(Marty) I'll never forget her.

She taught me how to look at things differently.

(Melman) She taught me how to do this...

(Marty) Hey, Melman, think you could teach me

some of those yoga moves?

(Melman) Sure thing, Marty.

(Marty) What do you know?

I like looking at things from this point of view.

(Lucia singing)

Maybe it's just the blood rushing to my head,

but I can almost hear her voice.

(Gloria) Wait, now I can hear her, too.

(Lucia) Hear who?

(Marty) Lucia! You came back!

(everybody) Yay!

(Lucia) After that jet ski stunt,

how could I resist?

No one's ever done something like that for me before!

(Alex) It was Marty's idea!

(Marty) We're so glad you saw it. I'm sorry.

I thought that because you're messy

and off-beat and sometimes you talk in circles and--

(Lucia) Is this an apology?

(Marty) I-I just mean,

you look at the world differently than me.

You don't do things the way I do.

But that's what makes you you. And I wouldn't change a thing.

Now, I know you're on the go,

but maybe you'd consider staying put,

at least for a little while?

(everybody) Please!

(Lucia) In all the world, no one's ever made me feel

like they wanted me to stay so much.

I love adventuring,

but I think I'm ready to have some adventures right here.

(Marty) Uh! Ranger Hoof! How was Graduation?

(Ranger Hoof) Well, you missed one great trot.

But I see you took the most important step of all:

being a great friend.

*

(Lucia) This is it!

I'm off to settle in to my new home

on the other side of the zoo.

Voy a extrañar ser vecina de todos ustedes.

(Gloria) That's beautiful. What's it mean?

(Lucia) It means "I'm going to miss all of you."

Come visit me tomorrow, okay?

(Marty) I've packed your souvenirs

in the reverse order you'll want to unpack them.

(Lucia) All my stuff's going to end up on the floor anyway!

(everybody laughs)

*

(Marty) Uh! I'm really gonna miss having her right next door.

(Lucia) Sorry to interrupt!

Have you seen my keepsake? I think I forgot it.

(Marty) No.

(Lucia) Oh, never mind! I have it. Bye!

(Marty) I hope she knows she's welcome any time.

(Lucia) How 'bout my drum?

Oh, never mind. You keep it! Adiós!

(Marty) Like I was saying.

I hope she knows she can come and visit anytime.

(Lucia) Me again! I seem to be missing a sock.

No, wait. I just remembered, I don't wear socks!

(Alex) I wouldn't worry, Marty.

I have a feeling we're gonna be seeing a lot of Lucia.

(everybody laughing)

* Aomoa, aomoa, aomoa *

* Whoo *

* Let's go find A little adventure *

* Let's make it A day to remember *

* Let's find something new We can explore *
