19

Oh My General

20

Why were you secretly looking at me at the reception pavilion of the Ministry of Rites?

21

You were secretly giving me seductive gazes and throwing me flirtatious looks.

22

Who was giving you seductive gazes and what flirtatious looks? Sister, do you have a delusional disorder?

23

Even when sleeping with her husband, she's showing shocking force!

24

Exciting! Very exciting!

25

You're full of it!

26

Junwang's self-confidence is too strong. In your interaction with him, you mustn't be too overbearing.

27

But when it's my wife, how come I didn't find her kiss disgusting at all?

28

Junwang, I feel that you should just hurry and submit to the General.

29

Submit to her!

30

I heard that His Majesty has organized a banquet

31

and wants our General to accompany that Western Xia Prince.

32

Today, let's celebrate and drink to your heart's content. Everyone need not be overly cautious.

33

My Royal Father especially instructed me to bring the treasure of our Western Xia

34

and gift it to Your Majesty.

35

Yinuo wants to use a quality like that to fool Royal Uncle.

36

Episode 12

37

A verse in the "Book of Songs" goes like this."You, you" the deer cry, feeding on (Chinese) mugwort on the open plain. (T/N: literary way to bleat like a deer)

38

I have honored guests, striking up the se, and blowing the sheng. (T/N: vertical harp, 5-25 strings, smaller than konghou; free-reed mouth organ)

39

In the third lunar month in Yangchun, all living things grow.

40

Today, we have envoys from Western Xia visiting our Dongjing.

41

Let us all raise our cups and celebrate together.

42

Hope that Western Xia and our Great Song

43

will have peace forever.

44

Today, let's celebrate and drink to heart's content. Everyone need not be overly cautious.

45

Thank you, Emperor of Great Song, for treating us with great hospitality.

46

We're greatly honored. In here, I'm borrowing your wine as an offering

47

to Your Majesty, wishing you good luck and things going your way.

48

In this visit, my Royal Father especially instructed me to bring the treasure of our Western Xia

49

and gift it to Your Majesty.

50

Husband, what is it?

51

Helan ink-stone.

52

What is that?

53

It's a form of ink-stone.

54

The Helan ink-stone I've seen is more exquisite than this one.

55

Yinuo wants to use a quality like that to fool Royal Uncle.

56

This is a Helan ink stone carved by our able craftsmen.

57

On it is the form of a pine and a shadow of a wild goose, symbolizing a long-lasting relationship between the pine and the wild goose. (T/N: pine = Song; wild goose - Western Xia - nomadic people)

58

It's most appropriate to give Your Majesty a gift with such symbolization.

59

The Helan ink-stone, Duan ink-stone, She ink-stone are all famous ink-stones.

60

All are rare ink-stones in this world.

61

Servant, put this treasure inside our national treasury.

62

Next year, award it to the top finisher of the civil examination.

63

I still have one request. Hope Your Majesty will allow it.

64

- Say it.

- Our Xia citizens

65

will always use dance to celebrate any joyous occasion or holiday.

66

I am willing to dance to boost Your Majesty's enjoyment.

67

I am allowing it.

68

Please wait while I change my clothing.

69

I ask the Xia envoys to drink one cup of wine with me.

70

Please.

71

Good! Good!

72

Good! Great dancing, Your Highness!

73

Prince Yinuo, I still have to do something, so I won't be able to stay with you anymore.

74

Tutor Liu, please entertain Prince Yinuo on my behalf.

75

I will abide.

76

The Xia envoys are respectfully sending off Your Majesty!

77

I'm toasting another cup of wine to the Western Xia envoys.

78

Start the dancing and songs!

79

Drink less. I'm warning you, you must not drink anymore.

80

When you drink, you go wild.

81

Even if I get drunk, I won't go wild in front of other people.

82

Even if it is behind them, you can't go wild.

83

I just love going wild after drinking behind other people and then take liberties with you.

84

The General is such an outstanding hero. I never thought that you were actually a woman.

85

My little sister fell in love at first sight of General Ye at the Battle of Baxian.

86

Now, she refuses to be married off. When she heard of your marriage news,

87

she cried in her tent for three days and nights.

88

That time, I was forced to disguise as a man

89

because of the war situation. I've caused Prince Yinuo to laugh at me.

90

Now, my Great Xia and your Song have reconciled. We can be considered to have met through fighting.

91

I'm toasting you with this cup of wine.

92

I won't be able to refuse this drink.

93

Wait!

94

Ah Zhao's alcohol tolerance isn't that good. It's better to let me drink on her behalf.

95

This is my husband, Nanping Junwang, Zhao Yujin.

96

You two are really a married couple that are very much in love.

97

The Junwang is really concerned about the General

98

in every possible way. I'm really envious.

99

It's just right that I take care of my own wife.

100

The people of Great Xia always say that a hero

101

must ride the fiercest horse and marry the fiercest lady.

102

Looking at how gentle and weak Nanping Junwang is,

103

yet he was able to subdue the fiercest woman in Song,

104

it looks like one really can't judge a book by its appearance.

105

Well said, well said.

106

My mother can use a rigid bow and ride on a gallant horse.

107

She can pierce a willow leaf with an arrow from the distance of a hundred paces. When she was younger

108

she even personally killed a bear.

109

All her sons are heroes who can rally hundreds of soldiers.

110

If the Junwang and the General sire a child in the future,

111

as long as he inherits the blood of the mother,

112

he will definitely be a giant among men.

113

A certain territory raises a certain kind of people.

114

A certain area has their own culture.

115

I heard that Western Xia is famous for being bold, unrestrained, and passionate.

116

But here in our Central Plains, we put more attention to being low-profile and being reserved.

117

If our children in the future will only have a powerful fighting appearance

118

and lack any proper upbringing,

119

especially talking inappropriately in front of others,

120

I will definitely spank him in front of that person.

121

Come, here's a toast to you, Prince of Xia.

122

Wait.

123

How can you leave just after one cup?

124

In Central Plains, we should drink at least three cups before it's considered sincere.

125

I have already drunk a lot today. I can't drink anymore.

126

There is an ancient saying in the Central Plains. If you don't drink the toast, you will have to drink the penalty wine.

127

Prince of Xia, don't let me punish you with this penalty wine.

128

Okay. My wife's health is not bad.

129

My health is not lacking either.

130

If we add and subtract this and that, my son probably won't be that strong either.

131

My mother is afraid of blood, death and wars. She definitely won't allow her grandson to go to battles.

132

Might as well let him study and be a free-spirited, talented scholar.

133

I'm warning you. You are not allowed to let our son go to battles.

134

If not, I will sever my relationship with you.

135

But General Ye's martial arts skill

136

will not be passed down to anyone then.

137

This is not a problem.

138

Whoever wants to learn her martial art skills,

139

he just needs to come to me and call me "Father."

140

My wife will pass her martial art skills to him then.

141

Junwang is really good at joking.

142

Prince Yinuo, let me give you a toast again.

143

Yujin, you did really great today.

144

This Prince of Western Xia has a scent of danger on his body.

145

I trust your sense of smell.

146

What do you mean by sense of smell? This is known as intuition.

147

I see. It's intuition.

148

You are not allowed to drink.

149

Timing and Subtitles brought to you by Gone with the Shirt Team @ viki.com

150

Why did you drink so much?

151

It was too much for you, right?

152

I'm a man. I want to be on top.

153

Scared me to death.

154

Okay, you can be on top. Lie down, Husband.

155

Okay, hug me.

156

Young lady, you have a slender waist and nice legs.

157

Pervert.

158

Still thinking of young ladies when you are asleep?

159

Aren't you hugging a young lady here?

160

You are awake.

161

You! What are you doing here?

162

Did we sleep together last night?

163

You... did you do anything to me?

164

Am I that kind of person?

165

Here. It's hangover soup.

166

General.

167

Enter.

168

General, Prince Qi asked you to go to his manor to discuss how to discuss the reception of the Western Xia envoys.

169

Okay. Wait at the entrance for me.

170

Yes.

171

Rest well at home today.

172

I'm going to work.

173

You...

174

You-You are leaving just like that?

175

It seems like...

176

It appears I'm like some virtuous, innocent young woman...?

177

Toad! Dung beetle! Bedbug! I spit on you!

178

Xiao Xiazi!

179

Junwang.

180

Go tell Old Boss Yang that I'm slacking from work today.

181

Just let him make the decisions in the City Patrol Office.

182

Yes.

183

Junwang, I'm here to ask for leave.

184

Ask for leave? Where are you going?

185

- Replying to the Junwang, I'm getting ready to visit my mother's home.

- Okay.

186

Junwang, you look good today.

187

Looks like when General helped you take a bath, change your clothes, and took care of you all night,

188

she's really so virtuous.

189

Were you gentle with her?

190

What do you mean?

191

Junwang, I'm taking my leave now.

192

I'm really clueless.

193

I even trusted that woman that she didn't take any liberties.

194

Junwang, I'm done giving instructions to Old Boss Yang.

195

You should have a proper rest at home today.

196

I get it.

197

Xiao Xiazi, what exactly happened last night?

198

You were extremely drunk last night.

199

You repeatedly vomited and drenched your clothes.

200

The General brought you back to your room and told me to bring pails of hot water.

201

She personally wiped you clean and took care of you for the entire night.

202

Then... did she do anything harmful to me?

203

Huh?

204

No... did I do anything improper to her?

205

Junwang, you were already so drunk.

206

You were not aware of anything at all.

207

I'm renowned for not getting drunk.

208

When have you ever seen me drunk?

209

Junwang, you are right, you're right!

210

This Prince Yinuo is tall, bold, and powerful.

211

I must train my body to be more powerful.

212

In order to take care of me last night, Zhao Ye went without any sleep.

213

Frankly, this woman is rather caring.

214

This is not right. She must have wanted to take advantage of me.

215

Looking at the way I vomited, would she still have the appetite to take advantage of me?

216

In any case, it was tough for her.

217

I must find the opportunity to thank her on another day.

218

Look at how spirited the Junwang is.

219

Haven't seen him for a few days and he's starting to train with metal balls.

220

What do you know? This is physical fitness.

221

What a good City Patrol Censor.

222

After being a measly official, his life has become more tasteful than before.

223

That's right.

224

Since you are so free today, let's go for a walk.

225

Stop training.

226

For the past days, I was busy with attending to the diplomats

227

and kept doing unimportant things. I was just planning to go out and have some fun.

228

Tell me where you are going. I will go with you.

229

I heard Apricot Flower Brothel has a new singer.

230

She's talented, beautiful,

231

and has a gentle voice.

232

What else? With such good news, let's go now.

233

- Let's go.

- Let's go!

234

- Come.

- Here.

235

The song today is not bad.

236

Junwang, bad news.

237

What's wrong?

238

I saw your tigress with Prince Yinuo.

239

What? Where?

240

Just downstairs a short way from here in a private dining room, having a meal.

241

Impossible.

242

She told me to steer far away from that man, yet she herself went to have a date with him?

243

Junwang, that's also possible.

244

Think about it. They once fought on the battlefield.

245

They can be considered to be old acquaintances.

246

This time, the General need only to deal with one.

247

That's way better than her going against seventy to eighty people on the battlefield last time.

248

This loathsome old woman...

249

Just because a tiger isn't showing his might, she thinks he's a sick cat?

250

Hey! Junwang, where are you going?

251

To catch them in the act!

252

Don't be rash. Just with your slight frame,

253

it can't even compare to the little finger of that Prince Yinuo.

254

- Are you looking for death?

- That's right.

255

Indeed.

256

I just have to see what sweet talk this two cheating couple are speaking!

257

what love oaths...

258

Before I set out,

259

Little Sister Yinchuan prepared a gift for you.

260

This was personally made by her.

261

She asked me to give it to you.

262

Three years ago, you were really brave and unrivaled on the battlefield.

263

But I never thought that you'd turn out to be a woman.

264

If you were born in our Xia,

265

I fear that the men asking for your hand in marriage would be destroying the sill of your door.

266

I'm sure that your husband is the most outstanding man here in Song,

267

that's why he was able to win your love.

268

Prince Yinuo, you said it right.

269

My husband is indeed that kind of person.

270

General, I've admired you for a long time,

271

so I'm even very curious about how well-suited Nanping Junwang is.

272

Since in your eyes, the Junwang is that outstanding,

273

can you tell me then what makes him great,

274

so that a guest like me from afar can learn from him?

275

You won't be able to learn his good traits.

276

I can see that he has a refined manner. I fear that his fighting skills are...

277

Indeed. In terms of fighting skills, in less than three moves, he would be captured.

278

But you, Prince Yinuo, on the other hand, can last for three hundred exchanges.

279

But whether it's just three moves or three hundred,

280

it's not difficult for me.

281

Looks like we both were defeated by you.

282

Nanping Junwang has a beautiful and delicate face.

283

I admit that I'm inferior to him in that aspect.

284

I heard that Nanping Junwang

285

is lazy in moving his four limbs, naughty and mischievous by nature.

286

Is that true?

287

Could it be that he really has

288

such a bad character that the General can't even say one good word about him?

289

Or maybe, at home,

290

he's just an obedient and adorable little sheep.

291

That's why you're the General.

292

Am I right?

293

He is not a sheep, but a male eagle.

294

Male eagle?

295

Indeed a cute male eagle.

296

There are birds that don't learn to fly for three years, but when they start to fly, they can soar high up in the sky.

297

Don't make any sound for three years, but when they do, they shock the world.

298

He is still a young eagle that hasn't fledged.

299

But he will eventually become an adult male eagle and fly toward the blue sky.

300

He is very smart. He can fully memorize a book that he has read only once.

301

He is very kind. Although he is of high status, he never bullies poor ordinary citizens.

302

He always cares about the people around him, using his own method to practice chivalry.

303

He is very brave. He never fears a strong opponent.

304

He is actively improving himself. Although he was born sickly,

305

and almost died, he is able to rise after every stumble.

306

That's why people who doesn't know him have no right to criticize him.

307

General, you're mad. General.

308

It's my fault for speaking such nonsense.

309

Hope General won't blame me for it. I'll drink this all first to show my respect.

310

Everyone sees me as scoundrel, a hedonistic rich man, just eating every day to wait for death.

311

Only she believes... that I will one day succeed.

312

Mustn't cry. Mustn't cry.

313

A man mustn't cry too easily.

314

Coming, coming!

315

Junwang, it's so late, yet you still have the interest to come here.

316

Junwang, please come inside.

317

Master Li, give the real "Huxiao" (Tiger's Cry) dagger to me.

318

Give me the money first as we previously agreed.

319

You gave me a fake one and you still dare to ask money from me?

320

What proof do you have that it is fake?

321

You mustn't accuse me falsely.

322

- Junwang...

- Give it to me!

323

Coming home this late...

324

You wouldn't have gone somewhere to idle your time away, right?

325

I drank too much strong tea tonight and am unable to sleep.

326

Hence, I came to check on you in passing.

327

Who did you have tea with?

328

Could it be that because lately, I'm always with Prince Yinuo,

329

so you're worried?

330

Worried?

331

Yinuo's taste can't be that bad, right?

332

Yinuo isn't as simple as you think.

333

He surely has an evil motive for coming to Song this time.

334

That's why, His Majesty asked me and Tutor Liu to take turns in accompanying him as a friend.

335

It's to monitor him closely.

336

Getting you to drink with him?

337

Why didn't that weasel ask Noble Consort Zhang to accompany him instead?

338

Bullshit!

339

But that weasel does have some foresight.

340

I can see that Yinuo isn't a good person.

341

That... is my gift to you.

342

My Huxiao dagger?

343

Timing and Subtitles brought to you by Gone with the Shirt Team @ viki.com

344

Stop looking. A creation by Master Li (T/N: fake replica)

345

isn't that easy to get found out.

346

Whether in the cover or the texture, these daggers

347

are totally the same.

348

Can't be right. I personally took this from the battlefield three years ago.

349

How could he have had the chance to imitate mine?

350

Have you ever lent it to anyone?

351

Two months ago, a crack appeared in the outer sheath of the dagger.

352

I sent it to Precious Treasures Pavilion. Could it be that time...

353

The boss of Precious Treasures Pavilion is an old friend of Master Li.

354

In all the imitation creations of Master Li, there will be an inscription.

355

Look.

356

How did you know?

357

This Master Li is a clever person. He deems himself a genius.

358

He doesn't like wealth or women, just loves creating imitations.

359

He acts in a daring manner and his skills are unrivaled in this world.

360

He would create an impossible to create imitation every year,

361

fooling people who are impossible to fool.

362

And then, he'll make bets with other people

363

if he will succeed or not.

364

A few years ago, I fell into his trap.

365

Accidentally, I broke a white jade lion ball with jewels.

366

From then on, I became friends with him.

367

Earlier today, he sent out news in our circle

368

that he's going to fool you because you are good with weapons.

369

I made a bet that you'd discover it.

370

But in the end, after you got the dagger, you really didn't notice it.

371

Because of that, I won one thousand liang in silver.

372

Then shouldn't you give me some of that silver?

373

Tonight, I exerted a lot of effort, using coaxing, tricking, and even fighting

374

to get the dagger back from Master Li.

375

This old charlatan can really settle up in cash that quickly.

376

But as you say, this Master Li's skills are really exquisite.

377

I totally can't see the difference.

378

Oh, right, I have a pair of mandarin duck blades, but I lost one of them.

379

A regular craftsman is unable to make a exact copy of it.

380

Can we let Master Li make me another one based on a drawing?

381

That is indeed a hard-to-copy weapon. Master Li will surely get interested.

382

If you promise him a huge payment and then threaten him, he surely will agree.

383

Okay.

384

Take me to see him tomorrow after the morning court.

385

You're not going to look at the clothes I made you?

386

For me?

387

This... you made this for me?

388

When did you do this? This probably will take a long time to make.

389

That... is great. I finished the design draft a few days ago.

390

I cut the pieces yesterday and then asked Meiniang to rush the sewing.

391

From now on, I can personally cut all of your dresses.

392

Husband, thank you.

393

Try it on. I'll go back to my room to rest now.

394

Okay.

395

Come.

396

Speak slower. One by one.

397

- Okay?

- Listen to me...

398

What's going on?

399

Junwang, General.

400

It's him! I saw him! I saw it very clearly!

401

I...

402

But... Have you all seen it clearly? Is it this lord?

403

Of course, we're sure!

404

He is the Nanping Junwang, the husband of the distinguished Great General of the World's Military Force.

405

That's right. It's him. Last night,

406

I personally heard him arguing with Master Li.

407

When he came out, his face was so white.

408

That's right.

409

What nonsense are you all speaking!

410

Capital Magistrate, what's going on?

411

Master Li is dead.

412

Dead?

413

Where is the corpse?

414

Inside.

415

Let's go.

416

Lord, it's him.

417

You mustn't make up things. Watch them well.

418

How long has he been dead?

419

Based on the initial deduction of the coroner,

420

the time of death of the victim should be around zi time interval last night. (T/N: 11 pm to 1 am)

421

Zi time last night?

422

Although I heavily scolded Master Li, bribed and threatened him,

423

I didn't kill him.

424

Absurd.

425

Capital Magistrate.

426

Capital Magistrate!

427

Your Majesty...

428

I have been thinking.

429

This Master Li died from one stab wound.

430

The weapon is a short dagger.

431

It was found just beside the corpse.

432

And his body didn't show any signs of struggle.

433

I sent the inspectors to his neighbors.

434

I then found out that Junwang and the victim indeed had an altercation.

435

But there is no evidence on site that will prove that he killed him.

436

I dare to boldly deduce

437

that it must be that Master Li

438

bore hatred against the Junwang and was unable to take a lighter view on things,

439

hence, he committed suicide.

440

Xiao Xiazi, as the personal attendant,

441

tell me if your master did this or not.

442

Informing Your Majesty,

443

although Junwang is mischievous and willful,

444

his temperament is kind and benevolent.

445

Even just killing a mosquito at home,

446

he would tell me to do it.

447

Also, when the Junwang gets angry,

448

he would at most just curse people.

449

He would never use a sword to kill anyone.

450

May Your Majesty investigate this matter well.

451

How then should we resolve this matter?
