[Great Talents Bookstore]

Shopkeeper, I'm here to deliver some manuscripts.

I haven't seen you around before, miss.

[To the Vagabond of Jiang City]

Who is this letter for?

To the Vagabond of Jiang City?

You're Meandering Jin?

I hope you can keep this a secret.

Don't worry. I will.

There happens to be a letter for you.

[To Meandering Jin]

Thank you, shopkeeper.

I shall excuse myself.

Please ensure this letter reaches him.

Definitely.

Shopkeeper, is there a letter for me?

For the Vagabond of Jiang City? Yes, there is.

It just arrived.

Just arrived?

Yes, the lady just left.

You'll be able to catch up with her if you leave now.

Thanks a lot, shopkeeper.

Miss.

Meandering Jin?

You have the wrong person.

Miss Bai.

Young Master Yang.

[To Meandering Jin]

[So she's Meandering Jin.]

Miss Bai.

Why are you here alone?

I...

I have a friend

who's recently working on a new novel.

The Map Records of Jiuzhou?

How did you know?

Well, I just guessed it.

Is your friend

facing a problem?

My friend grew up in the residence

and has not been to many places.

So the ideas in the novel

are mostly inspired by other novels.

Hence it lacks authenticity.

I see.

My family business expands all over the country.

I've been to quite a few places myself.

If you're willing to,

I'm glad to share those experiences with you.

That'd be great.

Let's decide on a place to meet then.

I...

It's inconvenient for my friend to meet up personally.

Let me prepare the questions in advance

and discuss them with you.

Would that work for you?

Sure, as long as I can help you.

Young Lady Yin Ruo.

There is an urgent situation.

You have to come with me.

What's the matter?

Just come with me.

You'll know when you see it.

Young Master Yang.

Please excuse me.

Let's talk again another time.

No problem.

You really sort Bai Lang out for me.

Thanks, Yang Xiao.

You're just going to say thanks?

What else do you want me to say?

Receiving thanks from me

makes you the special one in the whole capital.

Be grateful for that.

That looks nice.

Which one do you fancy? I'll buy it for you.

That won't be necessary.

Liu Tiao.

Buy them all.

Alright.

We'll buy them all.

Okay.

Which one do you fancy? I'll buy it for you.

I fancy everything.

Liu Tiao, all of these as well.

Gosh, I'm not done with these yet.

Young Master, please slow down.

Well, well, young master.

What are your intentions?

Just be upfront about it.

Why are you getting me all these gifts?

I see that you've done well today.

It places me in a good mood.

When I'm in a good mood,

I like to buy people presents.

What a peculiar hobby.

Alright then.

Since you bought me so many gifts,

I'll buy you a drink.

Liquor tastes way better than

that Pu'er tea of yours.

Take a look at yourself.

You're the second young master of the wealthiest family in the capital.

Yet you can't drink at all.

What if you have to drink socially

with some lady in the future

and she got you drunk

and brought you home with her?

If this news gets around,

where are you going to hide your face?

You'll have to learn to drink.

Come on. I'll teach you.

Let's go.

[House of Billows]

Young Lady Yin Ruo.

Yue Zi Yuan

tried so hard to get close to you.

She must have a bad intention.

As it seems,

Concubine Yu is the only one you can rely on.

That's right.

Young Lady Yin Ruo, just look at that foolish Yang Xiao.

We've all been deceived by Yue Zi Yuan.

Young Lady Yin Ruo,

how about I investigate and get you

some evidence?

You two just leave first.

I want to be alone.

Yue Zi Yuan, let's see

if you're genuinely helping me

or just trying to help yourself.

I just don't understand what's so great

about that Pu'er tea of yours.

Young people should drink liquor.

Here, cheers.

Are you a man?

Shouldn't you eat and

drink like one?

Liquor should be gulped down.

You drank so little.

Who are you saving it for?

For your fish at home?

So that means you're a man then?

I am.

Cut the nonsense. Cheers.

Cheers.

Don't drink too much.

You'll get drunk.

I'll have to carry you home if you pass out.

Besides, you're so heavy.

That's impossible.

I've got good liquor tolerance.

Just this small amount

will never make me drunk.

It's okay.

Even when you're drunk,

I'll protect you.

You've underestimated me.

Let me just say this.

Even if I drink all the liquor

in all taverns of this capital,

I still won't be drunk.

So stop worrying about me.

This...

I'm out of it so quickly?

Come on. Yang Xiao.

Let's go for another round.

Let's get so drunk until we pass out.

I'm all in.

Let's go.

Wait up.

Hurry up.

Are you even a man?

I've finally done something significant in my life.

Once you two are married,

I'll head home and manage my escort agency.

I don't love Bai Yin Ruo.

Who do you love then?

You.

I love you.

♫ Withered lotus in the rain as dusk fades ♫

♫ Swiftlets return to their nest in the dark courtyard ♫

♫ Leaning on the fence with a bottle in hand ♫

♫ Drunk and wondering when summer will return ♫

♫ Cool breeze and bright moon are a perfect match ♫

♫ Meandering through the ages ♫

♫ Adamant not to fall in love again ♫

Yue Zi Yuan, listen carefully.

♫ Yet you slipped into my dreams ♫

♫ It has always been myself in these dreams ♫

I, Yang Xiao,

♫ Thinking that I'd spend the rest of my life alone ♫

love you.

♫ Why does this old acquaintance ♫

The one I want to marry

♫ Delight my heart ♫

♫ Disrupting passing times ♫

is you.

♫ Raging a storm inside ♫

[He said he fancies me.]

You must be drunk.

I'm not.

I know that I love you.

You... you stay away from me.

I'm warning you.

Come any closer and I won't go easy on you.

No.

No, Yang Xiao.

You mustn't love me.

How can you do that?

You mustn't love me.

If you love me,

what should I do?

If you love me, what about Yin Ruo then?

Are you done?

I love you.

You're the one I love, Yue Zi Yuan.

Yang Xiao.

You're Yin Ruo's fiance.

We can't be together.

If so,

why did you keep appearing in front of me

to seduce me?

Now you've changed your mind?

That's nonsense.

When did I ever seduce you?

I was just trying to keep you two apart.

Be with me then.

That way, I won't end up with Yin Ruo.

But she wants to be with you now.

Why is it all about

what she wants?

Yue Zi Yuan.

Stop using Yin Ruo as an excuse

all the time.

Haven't you ever considered your own feelings?

Don't you love me?

I'm already paid for it.

♫ Misty rain and cold wind brewing in Jiangnan ♫

♫ Accompanied by sailing clouds and chirping of cicadas ♫

[I, Yang Xiao, love you.]

♫ A few boats treading across the lakefront ♫

[The one I want to marry is you.]

♫ Their ripples stirred my heart ♫

♫ Whose heart is yearning and upset ♫

♫ I'd give all my riches for a tiny boat ♫

♫ May the lyrics travel up the other shore ♫

[From today onwards, Zi Yuan is my god-daughter.]

♫ Lotus petals are prettier than silk dresses or white coats ♫

[Anyone who dares bully her]

[will have to face me.]

[I'll be behind you forever.]

♫ Where can I find the rivers and hills ♫

[Why is it so hard for me to even get married?]

♫ Cloaked in the misty rains of Jiangnan ♫

[I failed to fulfil Mother's dying wish.]

♫ Lotuses blooming all over the lake ♫

♫ Quiet and beautiful landscape cascades the sky ♫

[I'm not worthy of true love.]

♫ Hills and waters form an exquisite scene ♫

♫ All of that can be found in the tenderness of Jiangnan ♫

♫ Lotuses blooming all over the lake ♫

♫ I pick these pretty lotuses for you ♫

♫ My thoughts are with you, yearning for us to meet ♫

Yin Ruo.

Yin Ruo, I...

Why are you staring at me like that?

What is it?

I know I came home a little late today.

But please don't be angry.

Why are you

home so late?

Nothing.

Just that...

There'd been some matters at the agency.

You're lying. You met up with Yang Xiao.

Yin Ruo, I didn't want to upset you.

That's why I kept it from you.

I only met up with him

to discuss the marriage.

Was it really about the marriage between him and me

or the marriage between him and you?

Yin Ruo, let me explain.

What's there to explain?

You know well that Yang Xiao is my fiance.

Yet you're still mingling with him.

-No, it's not like that. -Yue Zi Yuan.

Are you here to help me

or to help yourself?

Of course I'm here to help you.

Perhaps storytellers all over the capital

will have a new tale by tomorrow.

The title will be

"Yue Zi Yuan and Yang Xiao got drunk in the night"

"and slept on the streets."

Yin Ruo, hear me out.

It's not what you think.

I didn't know

Yang Xiao would cross the line.

You can't blame me for all that.

Regardless,

it was my mother's fault for trusting you.

Take your land lease and leave now.

Don't ever appear in front of me

and I never want to see you

seducing my fiance ever again.

Get out.

Yin Ruo.

♫ The sparrow flies by, weaving a dress for spring ♫

♫ The shepherd’s flute resonates in the distance ♫

♫ In a courtyard, ♫

♫ Two people bid farewell ♫

♫ Whose eyes are secretly wet with tears? ♫

You're always so arrogant.

♫ The clouds sail with the wind, the rain falls in the painting ♫

Now you've been banished.

Banished now.

Get out of Bai Residence now.

No one welcomes you here, ingrate.

♫ The entertainer sings a song about the old times ♫

Horrible ingrate.

[Bai Residence]

Shut the door.

Shut it.

♫ A tender hand grabs the memory and leans towards it ♫

♫ Describing your youthful self in brush and ink ♫

[Bai Residence]

♫ Send me a dream where we first met in a manor ♫

♫ The moon, the branches and the windows lit up for you ♫

♫ The thick ink disperses into the night sky ♫

♫ The falling flowers are ignored ♫

[Shenwei Armed Escorts]

♫ Yearning for the day when we are free of attachments ♫

♫ Send me a dream and restore our innocent faces ♫

[Shenwei Armed Escorts]

Shuan Zi.

Open the door.

Shuan Zi.

Why aren't you opening the door?

Shuan Zi, you don't want me too?

Yin Ruo, I didn't mean to do it.

I really didn't mean to.

It's that scoundrel Yang Xiao's fault.

If it weren't for him,

I wouldn't be in this predicament

in the first place.

You... It's because of you.

It's that face.

It's all your fault.

It's not my fault.

Why did you do this to me?

Yang Xiao, you scoundrel.

You're just an annoying crook.

You bullied me.

You're always bullying me.

Well, now you know.

Serves you right.

Yang Xiao.

How dare you still bully me in my dreams.

I'm warning you. Stay away from me.

I'm going to bully you

and continue bullying you for the rest of your life.

Yang Xiao, I hate you.

I hate you.

I hate you.

Yue Zi Yuan.

Are you really that put off by my love?

Yin Ruo, I've been so good to you.

Why must you do this to me?

And you too,

stupid Yang Xiao.

Ever since Father left,

I've had to rely on myself.

I really am exhausted.

Yet why do you still bully me?

I can't believe I actually passed out after drinking so little.

Looks like Shuan Zi is brighter now.

Shuan Zi.

I'm coming.

Not bad, Shuan Zi.

You're so much brighter now.

You even know how to care for your sister.

When did you come home, sister?

Aren't you the one who tucked me in?

No.

So you didn't prepare this food either?

That wasn't me too.

Is someone else at home?

No.

Then who could that be?

Say, Sister,

maybe Miss Bai sent them?

Definitely not her.

Maybe... No, it's definitely her.

Well, it doesn't matter.

Let me join you.

It smells nice.

By the way, sister.

Why have you suddenly come home?

You've completed the job?

Of course.

I definitely completed it

before returning home.

Is it so?

Does that mean the agency will survive?

Of course.

The day of Shenwei Armed Escorts' revival is nigh.

We can even reopen business today.

We've actually been open for business.

We just didn't have customers.

Shut it.

Let me tell you this, Shuan Zi.

Right now we have a large amount of money.

Let me wash up

and we'll start recruiting.

Young Master Yang, you aren't just here

for some pu'er tea, are you?

Everyone in the city knows

that your Fengya Pavilion

is the capital's meeting place for distinguished personages.

Information travels fast here.

I'd like to inquire about something.

I wonder if you'd be

willing to help me on a tiny matter?

Ask away.

I want to know

the truth behind the new trade route massacre three years ago.

All I know was,

this idea of a new trade route was initiated

by your parents.

Many participated in it

but none survived the massacre.

It was impossible to investigate.

Impossible to investigate?

But I heard

an armed escort chief here in the capital

was murdered in that massacre too.

Perhaps you might find some clues there.

Which armed escort agency?

Shenwei Armed Escorts.

Shenwei Armed Escorts?

Good, apply more strength.

Next, chop.

Bow step, with more strength now.

That's right, good.

Good, very good.

Uncle Song.

Zi Yuan, you're here. Why are you here?

I...

Let's talk over there.

Practise well, kids.

Here.

Uncle Song, here's to you.

Good.

It's my fault for not managing the agency well.

Everyone had to part ways because of that.

It's in the past now.

As long as you're safe and happy,

we can now be at peace for not letting your parents down.

Uncle Song, I received a large sum of money recently.

Will you come back?

Let's revive Shenwei Armed Escorts.

Zi Yuan, I'll be honest with you.

The downfall of the agency

wasn't due to your poor management.

It's because we've been taking

the Guiyue State Trade Route all this while.

You must know that

this is the only route between Guiyue State and the capital.

All armed escorts and merchants will take that route.

If the new trade route supported by Chief Yue

was to be built,

it'll affect the benefits of many parties.

Thus the actions of our agency

made us enemies with those people

in Guiyue State.

This is the real reason why we couldn't continue our business.

Young Master, I've arranged everything.

Soon, news of us and

Shenwei Armed Escorts

opening a new trade route

will spread throughout the capital.

Just the capital won't be enough.

We must let everyone in Guiyue know.

Won't that be too dangerous?

The repercussions could be fatal.

Danger here, danger there.

You sound just like my uncle and brother.

How many times have I told you?

We can't plan for these things.

We'll just have to roll with the punches.

We'll know how perilous it is

when we actually encounter it.

Moreover,

if we can bait those in hiding

into revealing themselves,

it would be considered progress too.

But...

What now?

If this happens,

there's no turning back for Miss Yue anymore.

When danger strikes, I'll protect her with my life.

Opening a new trade route

is the only way for her

to restore Shenwei Armed Escorts to its former glory.

Liu Tiao.

Just follow my orders.

I know what I'm doing.

Understood.
