"The Killing of Three Thousand Crows"

"Episode 23"

Kneel.

All hail Princess Xuan Zhu!

All hail Princess Xuan Zhu!

Chancellor Zuo, this is unnecessary.

Your Highness, we are here today...

to discuss an crucial matter.

This is beyond my honour.

Chancellor Zuo, please stand up.

No.

Your Highness, this was all my fault.

I couldn't protect Li.

Now that Li has fallen,

its people suffer.

But thanks to heaven's blessing,

the royal bloodline survived, the legacy will go on.

Please, Your Highness.

Please lead us...

in the retaking of our home and rebuilding of Li.

Retake our home, rebuild Li!

Retake our home, rebuild Li!

Retake our home, rebuild Li!

But I am only the daughter of duke.

Princess Xuan Zhu.

You mustn't say that.

You are...

the last surviving member of a royal family.

If you take on the duty to rebuild our home,

all the officers...

and people of Li will follow your lead.

Once the nation is rebuilt,

you will become our empress.

But I do not know the way to rule a nation.

Your Highness,

this is your duty.

The blood of royal family flows in you.

It thus gives you the duty.

Please, Your Highness.

Such is the will and hope of the people.

Chancellor Zuo is right.

Since the people of Li survived,

we cannot give up the chance.

Princess Xuan Zhu will not let you down.

We must face it together.

We?

Xuan Zhu, you still don't trust me.

It's been years,

Yan Yan and I can't be in love again.

As the princess of Li,

I will answer the call of duty.

I will do all I can to aid Her highness.

You have our words for it.

Long live Princess Xuan Zhu.

Long live Princess Xuan Zhu.

Stop.

What is it?

You couldn't face your people.

Now you couldn't face me?

That makes sense.

What can you do?

You couldn't even kill Li Yuan without my help.

Now you want me to play the role of a princess for you.

With your capability,

do you still want to use the Spirit Lantern to save the world?

You have no right for that.

Who told you my plan?

That doesn't matter.

I simply don't understand...

how foolish you can possibly be.

Do you think after you died,

people will remember your sacrifice?

Most of the people don't care about your life.

They just want what's best for them.

My plan...

has nothing to do with you.

Of course.

I guess...

you have abandoned your plan.

After all,

you did abandon your people once.

But are you really willing to let me rule the nation?

Xuan Zhu.

Ever since we were kids,

you never failed to achieve any of the goals you've set.

You are much stronger and more courageous than I am.

Maybe it's better to let you be the princess.

The people of Li...

are counting on you.

Are you insane?

I have no interest in rebuilding the nation.

And we only have dozens of people.

I can't send them to their deaths.

However, I do enjoy the luxury given to a princess.

It's great to be loved and respected by all.

I will never do anything for you.

If it makes you feel secured,

you can be the princess instead.

You look unsightly as a coward!

Get up.

What is this for?

Bai, what do you want?

-Do you like it? -Is it funny to you?

She talks back at him.

It seems like she is recovering well.

Wake up!

You are the real princess.

That fake princess out there is fooling everyone.

It's so disgusting!

Even your childhood friend Zuo Zi Chen...

is thinking she is the real princess!

Don't you understand the stake?

Stop, I feel dizzy.

But you mortals...

love to do this to each other.

Okay, forget it.

I need you to pull yourself together.

What's the big deal?

You just lost the Spirit Lantern,

but this isn't the first time.

It's not about the Spirit Lantern.

So what's the reason?

Did Lord Jiu Yun betray your love?

Where did you learn that phrase?

Maybe I wasn't...

capable of achieving my goal.

I was tricked by Er Meng.

I was fooled by Chancellor Zuo.

I couldn't protect Kitty.

I failed to kill Li Yuan.

I even got Fu Jiu Yun hurt.

And you broke me,

twice.

Yes, I am sorry for that.

See?

I fail at everything.

How could you nod?

I was thinking,

if I carry on with my plan,

more and more people will be hurt.

So I've been...

giving it a long and serious thought about my plan.

Perhaps I am destined to live a normal life...

while I survive.

You are no ordinary girl.

For the past thousands of years, you are the first to broke this

Chuan.

You wanted to sacrifice your life for a mission.

You do whatever you please.

What are you so afraid now?

Someone as strong as you are...

should follow my subtlety.

I never hold onto the past.

Let the bygones be bygones.

If there is a problem, we will solve it.

Did you see everything?

-That's right. -Fu Jiu Yun!

Stand up!

How did you find me this time?

Don't you think those advices are beyond his emotional intelligence?

You are right!

I should...

I said the last line from the bottom of my heart.

I shouldn't have sent you for this job.

She forced me to!

-You know she is mad and... -How could you stoop so low?

He forced me to!

You know I don't have much choices.

I forced you?

Fine!

You are all good guys, I am the thug here.

Now I really look like a villain.

It's like this fight was because of me.

Enough.

Don't do this again.

-Next time...No next time!

Did you hear me?

Okay, I promise.

-In the future... -Not a chance!

Fine, never in the future.

I won't use my magic on you again.

Fine, get me some fish. I am hungry.

You heard that. Get some fish.

Lord Jiu Yun.

Chuan is asking you to do it.

-It's not me. -But...

Fine, I'll go get you some fish.

Your Highness, what kind of carp do you wish to have?

I want a donkey.

Donkey?

-Donkey? -Let's get us a donkey!

She seems to be doing well.

She does look...

much happier than she was.

She spends her days planting vegetables.

She is working like a normal farmer.

Isn't that good?

I think she is going to settle down for good.

You two should just settle down here.

After she is gone from this world,

we can still live our live in joy.

And a few centuries later,

she will fade from your memory.

That is the best ending you can ask for, Brother.

But I feel like something is off.

I was tricked.

I believed the lies of the demons.

Gao Capital is in a troubling time because of me.

My officers suffered shame and disgrace.

But thanks to my son,

we rid the city of demons and save it.

My son, tell me,

how should I reward you?

Ting, why are you crying?

When I think about my brother...

I couldn't contain the pain in my heart.

Li Yuan?

But...

hasn't he been in the Eastern Palace all along?

Father, you didn't know.

That day, he...

The Crown Prince arrives!

Li Yuan, I am glad to see you are fine.

The demons were causing disturbance at Hao Tian Temple.

I was worried for your safety.

So I wish to see if you are safe.

Thank you for the concern, Father.

I wasn't harmed.

I've been resting inside the Eastern Palace...

in memory of my late mother.

I am happy you are fine.

I am relieved to see you safe.

Father.

I...

I was almost killed that day.

If it wasn't for...

the bond I share with my elder brother,

I couldn't have killed...

all of those demons.

Father.

I am a little under the wind.

I must take my leave now.

Ting Yuan, you may go now.

Rest well.

Don't make me worry.

Yes, Father.

Li Yuan, you may return as well.

I have matter to discuss with Master Li.

Brother?

Brother?

After the battle at Hao Tian Temple,

how have you been?

I am fine. I am feeling great.

How are you, my brother?

I...

I am fine.

Prince Li Yuan, are you leaving the palace?

This smells delicious.

Do I get some too?

My lovely Chuan...

hasn't made me any sweet-and-sour ribs in a while.

Don't be so greedy.

I prepare yours next.

Chuan.

If you are feeling sad,

just let it all out.

Sad? Why should I be crying?

Can't you see the smoke from the cooking?

I can barely open my eyes.

It's the smoke?

Let me blow the soot off.

I don't need that.

-What's wrong with that? -No!

Come on.

All right.

You are getting better at this.

Delicious.

Try it out.

Let me try it out.

What do you think?

Do you like it?

It's exquisite.

Well,

how does it fare against the delicacies of sages?

Let me put it this way.

A taste from Qin Chuan's cooking...

can best everything.

Come, Chuan.

You should have some yourself.

You've lost some weight.

Here.

Jiu Yun.

Do you like your life now?

We make wine from flowers and brew tea from the spring water.

Just like what we have now.

We live in peaceful time on Mount Xiangqu.

A normal life.

-With whom? -With you.

What? That's not what you wanted?

Chuan.

Of course I wish I could.

-However... -Eat your meat.

You get the biggest piece.

Try it out.

Eating the meat.

It's raining.

No!

Now you want me to play the role of a princess for you.

Do you still want to use the Spirit Lantern to save the world?

You have no right for that.

You are still a young girl.

If you don't understand the fate of a nation,

it's perfectly normal.

Don't you want to rebuild our home?

Maybe I wasn't...

capable of achieving my goal.

Kitty!

I couldn't protect Kitty.

I failed to kill Li Yuan.

I even got Fu Jiu Yun hurt.

I am such a failure!

Don't be afraid.

You are finally here.

I know who you are.

I can help you.

I am much more powerful than the Spirit Lantern.

Believe me.

You will obtain unlimited power.

All the beings of the three realms will become your slaves.

Believe me.

If you consume me,

you will regain all of your might.

No on in this world...

will be able to defeat you.

I almost get a heart attack every time I heal you.

You know how dangerous the Tethering Spike is.

Why did you use it so intensively?

I removed the poison.

Within the next month,

you must rest well.

Your inner power must not be disrupted.

I feel like I've said that far too many times.

The Namman Demon Lord...

has all the seven energies.

The Tethering Spike won't hold him off for long.

I am afraid our peace here...

will soon come to an end.

If we could find the Stone of Clarity while he is licking his wound,

we can finish him off for good.

Stone of Clarity?

Master searched for it for years and found nothing.

Now I suspect...

this thing never exists in real world,

that is was just a myth.

Kill the Namman Demon Lord with Stone of Clarity.

Lord Guan Ren told you that in person.

How could it be a myth?

Fu jiu Yun.

Are you somehow infected by the silliness of Qin Chuan?

She once asked me a long ago,

"Why won't the sages kill the demons?"

And I replied,

"There is balance between the realms, we each follow our own path."

But who would have thought that one day...

she and I...

would be caught up in the same disaster...

and have the same enemy?

So,

in the three realms,

can anyone escape from the endless cycle of destiny?

Brother.

That is not the circle of destiny.

It should be karma.

From the moment you first laid eyes on her,

her destiny was certain to be changed.

Making enemy with the Royal Preceptor...

is the destiny you altered for her.

It's almost the Mid-Autumn Festival.

You've been imprisoned for days.

Did Fu Jiu Yun manage to damage...

your spiritual energy?

He is a sloppy sage.

He got carried away.

However,

I can only use this snake sage's body for time being.

He doesn't have much power.

Your body...

has been brought back from Gao Capital.

The emperor of Tian Yuan is a fool.

He didn't notice any difference.

He doesn't deserve to be your father.

Now that you have a physical form,

you should come back to me.

Be patient.

I don't have much power in this body,

But I can earn some trust...

from Fu Jiu Yun.

There could be some unexpected results.

Finding the Stone of Clarity...

is his last hope.

The Stone of Clarity.

Slowly.

-Watch your steps. -Be careful.

Come, over here!

Take it slowly.

Slow down.

Don't drop it.

-Be careful. -Do you feel cold?

-Put on some clothes. -I am fine.

Families reunite during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Everything is so peaceful.

It's hard not to envy the happiness they have.

Chuan, do you envy them?

Of course.

I can make your wish come true.

We can have children of our own.

Get lost.

Fine, enough fooling around.

Let's celebrate this festivity.

Sages celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival?

Of course.

Sages have paid leaves and sabbaticals.

Let's go.

It's Mid-Autumn Festival.

Turn over a new leaf, kindness must be repaid.

Set aside our differences, do not give in to self-content.

Nicely done.

Does anyone know what it means?

The verse means,

we must correct our mistakes,

do not forget the kindness offered to us.

Do not slander others behind their backs,

do not be prideful of your advantage.

That's how we make friends.

Well said.

Miss Xuan Zhu!

Miss Xuan Zhu!

Please, stand up.

You don't need to bow when you see me.

Miss Xuan Zhu, you look beautiful today.

What have you learned today?

Turn over a new leaf, kindness must be repaid.

Set aside our differences, do not give in to self-content.

Don't use magic.

I didn't.

I won't use magic.

What is this made from?

-It stinks. -Pig skins.

Pig skins?

What was that for? You ruined my bunny.

Here, let me mend it for you.

The brush.

Lord Jiu Yun.

Everything you draw looks like Chuan.

Even the bunny looks like her.

Is that so? If it looks like her,

let add on its left hand...

the Spirit Lantern.

A white tiger on the right hand.

A piece of sweet-and-sour rib dangling on her mouth.

Have mercy on the bunny.

This is meant for Bai.

You can't have it.

Bai, catch.

-Give it to me! -Fight!

No way, you won't have it!

-Fu Jiu Yun! -Pass it to me!

Bai, catch!

-Bai, stop fooling around. -Over here!

Okay, great.

This young man is smart.

He is good at making mooncakes.

Try it again.

Try that mooncake, see if you like the taste.

Your is cracking, you used too much filling.

So?

Come on, Chuan.

Let's go to Lord Jiu Yun.

Be careful.

Let's play!

Don't run!

See? This is Yue Lao.

If you make a wish to him,

you can be with the person you love.

And it's Mid-Autumn Festival.

Every family will release a lantern and make a wish.

Miss Xuan Zhu, will you release the lantern with us?

We have a huge lantern.

Sure, let's go.

If you...

You are here.

This lantern is huge.

We spent so much time making it.

We need two grown-ups to help us release it.

Master Zi Chen has work to do.

You shouldn't be bothering him.

It's a day of festivity.

We can leave the work for tomorrow.

We can't spoil the mood for the children, right?

-Yes! -Let's do it.

Fine, as you wish.

Okay.

Here.

Master Zi Chen.

Do we have to release it with the person we love?

But she was always alone...

Zi Chen, try this out.

I can do it myself.

Does it ever cross your mind...

that she could be eating meal prepared for her by another man.

How would you feel?

What have you learned today?

Turn over a new leaf, kindness must be repaid.

Set aside our differences, do not give in to self-content.

I want you to stay with me.

But it's not because I need you for my plan.

So why?

It's because...

The lantern...

will only be meaningful when you release it with the person you love.

-It's flying so high! -It's flying!

This is so fun.

-Great! -Look! It's flying high!

Off it goes!
