"The Killing of Three Thousand Crows"

"Episode 8"

The weather is nice today.

The breeze is pleasant as well.

It's been a long time since I have the luxury of leisure.

Qin Chuan.

I was told the Jade Garden is beautiful.

I can't see it.

Will you describe to me?

Xuan Zhu never told you about it?

What I meant was,

Lady Xuan Zhu and Master Zuo has been here for days,

-and she never... -Since the day I came here,

I've never felt so happy like I am now.

Lady Xuan Zhu is your beloved.

Xuan Zhu...

Xuan Zhu is my benefactor.

She has been taking good care of me.

I am grateful to her.

Miss Qin Chuan.

It feels friendly when I talk to you.

But as for this matter,

please don't bring it up again.

Yes.

All right, you are finally at the Jade Garden.

Let me show you around.

I was working at here when I first got here.

Sure.

Lord Jiu Yun.

Sister Qing Qing, what's wrong?

Why have you been avoiding me?

No, perhaps I was simply too busy with work.

Watch your step, there is a rock ahead.

What's wrong?

Master Zuo.

Lady Qing Qing and Lord Jiu Yun are up ahead.

Maybe we should turn back now.

Brother Jiu Yun?

We should drop by and say hello.

Speaking of which, I still owe him my thanks.

Come.

Master Zuo, what are the odds?

This fabric is not cheap.

Your life is so much better now that you serve Master Zuo.

You are much more graceful now.

You don't use osmanthus oil anymore.

All thanks to you, Lord Jiu Yun.

If I was too rash that day and offended you somehow,

I wish to apologize now.

Master Zuo,

that won't be necessary.

I must address my regret.

There is no regret.

I have plenty of servants around.

Having one more won't matter,

losing one won't make a difference either.

Qin Chuan?

Qin Chuan?

Master Zuo, you asked for me?

What is wrong with you lately?

It's like something is on your mind.

Nothing.

Did Xuan Zhu say something to upset you?

No, Lady Xuan Zhu is nice to me.

If Xuan Zhu somehow upset you,

I will apologize for her.

That is simply her personality.

Her country was destroyed,

that is too much pain for her.

But she is never a vile person.

I hope you won't mind her language.

Master Zuo, please.

I won't mind at all.

If there is nothing else, I'll leave now.

Do you unhappy while you are here?

I am a cripple.

I can't grant you much.

Tomorrow morning,

my men will send you back.

People address me with respect,

but they also secretly mock me for my blind eyes.

Miss Qin Chuan.

You are a kind person.

With you by my side these past few days,

I am grateful.

Master Zuo.

I never asked to leave.

That is enough.

You will leave tomorrow morning.

Yan Yan!

Zi Chen.

Lady Xuan Zhu.

Your work here is done, dismiss.

Yes.

Zi Chen, I've made you some...

I will have the treatment.

I will have the treatment.

I will have the treatment.

Here, have some tea.

In a few days,

I will go into seclusion once more.

You need to take care of the affairs here.

Seclusion?

You just recovered your strength,

there is no need to hurry.

It's not about that.

You misunderstood.

It's about Zuo Zi Chen.

For some reason,

he agreed to have his eyes treated.

I think that man is interesting.

He either refused,

or he would just asked for it.

Such an odd person indeed.

Such an odd person.

Jiu Yun?

Jiu Yun?

-What's the matter? -I have a report to make.

What is this about?

It's about preparation of the Banquet of the Mountain.

Since Lord Jiu Yun is here as well,

I shall not bother your time.

I'll be here later.

Very well.

Once my eyes are healed,

I must take a good look at your face.

If you would say nothing,

I take it you agreed.

Qing Qing.

I know what you found.

I also know...

what you are trying to tell our master.

I was told something is bothering you.

I invited you out for a short break...

so you could see the other wonders of Mount Xiangqu,

do not waste your youth on a single man.

I understand you mean well.

Your beauty must be truly remarkable,

even the dandelion wishes to befriend you.

Please, you flattered me.

But speaking of which,

plants from the human realm shouldn't have come...

to the paradise of the sages.

Maybe it came from the servants dormitory on the mountainside.

Perhaps.

But I've been wanting to ask,

they told me Master Zuo...

wants Qin Chuan to serve him.

Is that true.

Indeed.

That lowly servant is no ordinary person.

She must have some other agenda to be on Mount Xiangqu.

Even Lord Jiu Yun has been seduced by her.

If you found or saw anything,

please let me know.

What you mean is...

Xuan Zhu.

Insolence! How dare you disrespect your master.

You don't remember me.

What is this trick?

That is expected.

After all, I am wearing Ah Man's face.

We haven't met in four years.

It's really you. The princess.

You went through so much effort with your disguise,

what do you want?

To have your revenge on us?

Or do you...

wish to continue your love with Zi Chen?

Rest assured,

I am going to take Zi Chen for my own.

Your love for him...

is something I cannot achieve.

So you admit I surpassed you at some point.

How hilarious.

The once respected princess...

is bowing down to me for her defeat.

Right,

you are not a princess anymore.

You have no home,

you are just like a lowly peasant.

-That's why you've lost your grace. -Xuan Zhu.

The matter with Zi Chen aside,

I know for sure we never share any dispute in the past.

Why do you hate me so much?

You are not worth my time.

Ever since we were children,

you've always hated losing to me.

Everything I ever wanted,

you wanted to take them from me.

I never understood the reason behind that.

I've always wanted you dead.

I am still having that same wish.

and yet you live.

I never understood your reason for hating me.

I gave it a long thought.

and I finally see the reason.

Your mother was hoping to marry my father who was the emperor.

But she never got what she wanted.

She was married to a country we rule.

I bet she must have despised that decision.

-Silence! -She wanted to be the empress.

the fate said otherwise.

She couldn't bear the child of the royal bloodline.

She couldn't swallow it down.

You hate me.

You want to surpass me.

I won't blame you for that.

Why are you bringing up the past?

It's meaningless now.

I am not beneath you.

-Who do you think you are? -I won't blame you.

But you do owe me,

so it's time to make up for it.

I owe you?

What do I owe you?

Zuo Zi Chen.

I hand over him to you.

Otherwise you will never get his love.

Are you telling me your identity...

just because of that?

What is this?

Dandelion.

-Can't you tell? -I mean,

is this thing used to harm me?

Xuan Zhu.

I never expected to meet you and Zi Chen on Mount Xiangqu.

I have my own motive to be here.

So I can't let you get into my way, is that clear?

What if I tell the others who you are?

Don't forget,

soldiers from Tian Yuan are still hunting you.

Princess of Li.

You won't tell anyone.

The favourite student of Dragon King,

the spy on Mount Xiangqu,

that must be you, Xuan Zhu.

Judging by your reaction,

my guess is right, isn't it?

I knew it all along.

Do you remember...

when I was learning the Paper Magic Arts,

you mocked me.

You said your master was teaching you spells ten times more powerful.

A great sage that has dealing with the Zhongshan Monarchy...

is not all that hard to searched for.

Even if you know the truth,

-No one will believe you. -Is that so?

-Why don't we find it out? -You wouldn't dare!

You came here in disguise,

you must have an ill intention.

If I am in trouble, so will you.

Xuan Zhu.

I will leave Mount Xiangqu after my work here is done.

You will never see me again.

Please take good care of him.

Stop pestering me, it's best for us both.

You already broke your promise once,

why should I trust you?

Our Master...

is spending all his effort on exposing the spy.

This artwork is one of its kind.

Really?

My students, enjoy the masterpiece.

Master, this painting is extraordinary.

Master, you really are the greatest collector of all.

Lady Xuan Zhu arrives.

Master.

You two, dismiss.

Xuan Zhu, what is it?

Master, I am eternally grateful...

that you healed Zi Chen's eyes.

I thought it was about an urgent matter.

Once you have my word,

I will fulfil my promise.

At ease, stand up and speak.

I have another matter to report.

Speak.

I know you've been searching for the spy in our ranks.

I know who the spy is.

Who is it?

Master, do you know what this is?

The spy...

was indeed using this plant to send out messages.

My student,

where did you find this?

I found this inside a servant's room.

Which servant?

Qin Chuan.

So,

she is one of the servants selected into Inner Palace.

Yes.

Before this, she was serving Lord Jiu Yun.

And then Zi Chen asked for her servitude.

What does Master Zuo need from this servant?

He...

is in love with the servant.

I thought you and Master Zuo were a couple.

Actually,

this doesn't belong to Qin Chuan.

But...

But what?

It's all right, speak.

I saw it with my own eyes.

Qing Qing was planting this inside Qin Chuan's room.

How dare you!

I just take you in as my disciple,

Why are you alienating me and Qing Qing?

-I am telling the truth. -Impossible!

Impossible.

Qing Qing has followed me for years.

That is not possible.

If her conscience is clear,

why would she set someone up?

Qin Chuan is close with both Lord Jiu Yun and Zi Chen.

-Qing Qing was... -Silence!

Xuan Zhu, do you know...

what I hate the most?

I hate when people lie to me.

Do you know what happened to people who lied to me?

Why are you framing Qing Qing?

It is Qing Qing.

She is planting the evidence on Qin Chuan.

Impossible.

No one can resist the power of my Seal of Life.

Could it be?

Guards.

Go to Qing Qing's office immediately.

See if she is hiding dandelions.

Yes.

-Halt. -We are searching this place.

Who gave you the permission?

What is the fuss about?

Lady Qing Qing,

we have order from our Master to search every lodge.

Is there no end to this?

Do you have no respect for me at all?

Even Lord Jiu Yun's house...

was being searched as per our master's order.

This is all a safety measure.

Master must be senile to have allowed this.

He is suspecting me?

Report.

What do you get?

We found this inside Lady Qing Qing's office.

Bring her in.

Master, why do you summon me?

There are rumours about a spy in our ranks.

What do you think?

I am investigating this matter.

Any progress so far?

I found this inside the Temple of Artifacts.

I've confirmed this is owned by the servant Qin Chuan.

She has ill intention to be in the temple.

Great, well said.

Ill intention.

Then explain to me,

why are these dandelions...

found inside your room?

I've never seen them before.

Master, are you suspecting I am the spy?

Come here.

-This is a set-up. -Come here!

I found these dandelions in the garden.

Xuan Zhu was with me as well.

She can be my witness.

Qing Qing.

Do you know why...

I spent years...

mentoring you with my knowledge?

That's because among all the disciples of Mount Xiangqu,

I value your talent the most.

The person I wish to protect the most...

is also you.

-Master. -Isn't that true?

And you?

You conspired with our enemies.

You betrayed me.

You put our sacred land in jeopardy!

Xuan Zhu.

Come.

I am sorry for the pain I caused.

Please forgive me.

It's my honour...

to be of help in taking down the spy.

Tomorrow,

bring Zi Chen to me.

Yes.

Dismiss.

It's been a long day for me.

Yes.

Zi Chen.

I ordered Chuan to come here.

Don't you want to see...

if your servant is a hideous monster?

Xuan Zhu, don't be absurd.

Qin Chuan, you may stay.

Yes, Master Zuo.

Zi Chen, open your eyes slowly.

Xuan Zhu, I can see now.

I can see.

Xuan Zhu.

I can see you.

Zi Chen, you can see me?

You can see me, Zi Chen?

I've been waiting for this moment...

for far too long.

All this time,

thank you for everything.

Chuan.

Raise your head.

Xuan Zhu, you were being absurd.

Qin Chuan is far from being hideous.

Qin Chuan.

Thank you for taking care of me.

What's wrong?

Zi Chen, don't you know?

Chuan is very frustrated lately.

The silly boy from housekeeping...

keeps bothering her.

Is that boy your fiancé?

Lady Xuan Zhu, please don't make fun of me.

The most important aspect of life is to love and be loved.

Besides, the Master is very accepting.

Feel free to follow your heart.

How is this happening?

Qin Chuan.

Don't you know...

Zi Chen seems like a different person?

Why didn't he remember anything?

I have a humble request.

I was told your Spell of Oblivion...

is capable of sealing memories and awakening the mind.

I am hoping you would help Master Zuo forget a person he once knew.

He doesn't remember anything.

Well, not entirely.

He remembers he is Zuo Zi Chen, the son of Chancellor Zuo.

He remembers me who has always stayed by his side.

Of course.

He also remembers the lowly and filthy...

servant named Qin Chuan.

Right,

perhaps he doesn't remember...

the little princess he knew...

who was so full of herself and loved by all.

And Ah Man too.

If anyone dare to approach him,

she will be wiped from existence.

But I told you before,

I told you after I left this place,

you won't see me again.

Do I look like a fool to you?

If he can't forget you,

he will never truly be mine.

Didn't you find it hard to make up your mind?

I am merely giving you the push you need.

Don't you feel disgusted by your action?

And you brought him his pain.

But thankfully,

he has forgotten you.

He is now the gentle man he was before.

Isn't good?

Forgetting...

can be a blessing.

You should leave this mountain as soon as possible.

Lives will be lost here.

If you stay,

no one will be here to collect your corpse.

Does it matter?

I am not you.

I won't live my life in a fantasy.

I said what I needed to.

You are on your own.

Zi Chen.

I prepared a special gift for you.

This jade hairpin has been used for quite some time now,

you should get a new hairpin now that life is a new beginning.

Let me put it on for you.

Xuan Zhu.

It may be old, but it's perfectly fine.

There is no need for a new hairpin.

Fair enough.

As you wish.

Have you heard about Lady Qing Qing?

What happened?

-She died a horrible death. -Really?

This is it.

Finally,

we got rid of the spy lurking within our ranks.

Xuan Zhu, the credits go to you.

Soon,

the Dragon King will be visiting.

But the position of supervisor...

must be filled immediately.

Xuan Zhu.

At this moment, I appoint you...

the Prime Female Disciple.

You will replace Qing Qing as the new supervisor.

You are in charge of Mount Xiangqu's affairs,

covering all kinds of matters.

Xuan Zhu, it's a great responsibility.

I hope you will be cautious in your actions,

do not disappoint the trust and expectations...

me and the fellow disciples of Mount Xiangqu...

have in you.

I appreciate the trust.

I will follow your teachings...

and carry out every order.

Very well.

I accepted many disciples...

by welcoming all walks of life...

without any prejudice.

But I never would have thought...

people with vile intent...

took advantage of my kindness...

and sneaked into our mountain.

I hope that from now on,

Qing Qing's death will serve as a remind...

for you to stay loyal and true,

behave and do not conspire with our enemies.

If I ever find out...

any of you is trying to betray me,

those who side with our enemies...

Death!

Lady Xuan Zhu.

It's getting late,

why are the flowers from Jade Garden still here?

Who is in charge of this?

Her name is Cui Ya, she is transferred from the Crane Park.

I want her to move all the flowers to Ningbi Temple.

Yes.

Remember, she is to do it on her own.

Yes.

Cui Ya.

Lady Xuan Zhu wants you to move the flowers to Ningbi Temple.

-All of them? -Yes.

Cry if you are upset.

Don't hold your tears.

Who says you can come in?

It's only been a few days.

My dear Chuan,

why are you being naughty again?

Fu Jiu Yun.

You are the most annoying sage to ever walk the earth!

What happened?

Your darling Dou Dou upset you,

so you vent you anger on me?

What am I to you?

Your punching bag?

All right, don't be upset.

Pack your things, come with me.

What do you mean?

I got you back.

Come, let's go back to my home.

You people push me around whenever you please,

what do you take me for?

You are my favourite little servant.

Let's go.

But...

This rain is all too sudden.

Chuan, hurry up.

I won't look after you if you catch a cold.

Tell me, is Qing Qing's death related to you?

-It's raining, let's go inside first. -Tell me!
