Listen, generals. Siege this city before sunset!

Generals

we must hold this city until sunset!

For those who break the defence

your reward will be a hundred taels of silver and a-three-level promotion

Those who fear death and forsake the battle will be sentenced to death!

Yes, sir!

If this city is not seized by sunset

all soldiers will be punished according to military laws!

Charge!

Fire the cannons!

Your Majesty

Imperial Physician Fan

Princess Consort Jin has just given birth to a prince

Your Majesty, Princess Consort Jin has given birth, you must try harder!

My sons either died prematurely

or have been stranded among the small folks due to the war

If the Empress gives birth to a princess

If the Empress gives birth to a princess

then there is no need to wait for Wu San Gui to siege the city

Just kill me and end my sorrows

Your Majesty...

The baby is here!

Kill her

Your Majesty!

The Director of Imperial Observatory had said

If this child is a girl

She must be the devil bringing bad omen to the country

Physician Fan, His Majesty has sent me to see

if the Empress has given birth

Supervisor Liu, send this good news to His Majesty

that the Empress has given birth to a prince

both the mother and the child are safe

God bless our Great Ming Dynasty! God bless our Great Ming Dynasty!

No...

No way!

Princess Consort Jin

for the realm and people of the Great Ming Dynasty

for His Majesty

and also for your beloved Prince Jin

Fan Li begs Your Highness to think for the greater cause!

Your Majesty

Good!

From this day onwards

this child

shall be known as the Crown Prince of the Ming Dynasty!

Congratulations, Your Majesty...

Long live the King!

Long live the Crown Prince!

One year ago

Aisin Gioro Fu Lin in the Forbidden City

was also given a son

Such coincidence must have its divine significance

Fu Lin named his son Xuan Ye

Ye

the light of fire

bringing a bright and promising future

Hence, I shall name my Crown Prince Ci Xuan

Xuan, which mean the ray of the Sun

I shall see

among these torches of fire

who shall rule this boundless empire!

This is my family heirloom

As her godmother

this is the only thing I can give to my little Princess

Ding Guo

I understand that you have to escort His Majesty

hence you can't take care of your wife and son. Farewell

Wu San Gui, you treacherous scoundrel!

You will not have a good end!

Do you know that?

Wait!

There is no one from His Majesty's household here

There are only...

People from Prince Jin's household

Family of Li Ding Guo?

Wonderful

Zhu You Lang is still here

because of Li Ding Guo

Princess Consort Jin

Princess, I know that I am not supposed to betray you

but these servants are innocent!

I... I can't bear to watch them die in vain!

Eunuch, aren't you too old to remember that?

Don't you know

that the baby I am carrying, she is...

Who is the baby that you are carrying?

Isn't that the child of you and Prince Jin?

Yes

But she is just a girl

What is so bad about a girl? Li Dingguo already has two sons

now he is given a daughter

What a blessing for him!

I am a man of my word.

Servants, bring the rewards

Prince Ping Xi

I beg you to keep your promise

Please let them go

Princess Consort Jin

I am sorry for you and Prince Jin

Only my death can remedy my fault!

Eunuch!

Si Xing

keep this golden key with you

Lead half of the men

and escort His Majesty and the Empress to leave. I'll cover your back

Yes, sir

Li Ding Guo, the days of the Ming Dynasty have ended

The change of the regime is unstoppable

Why do you have to be so stubborn?

Bring them here

Ding Guo!

Si Xing!

My dear!

Mother!

Li Ding Guo, as long as you give us Zhu You Lang

I will return your wife and son immediately

I assure you of their safety

And advise the Emperor of the Great Qing to grant you a knighthood

Li Ding Guo, are you really this heartless?

She is your wife

Let's not forget about your new-born daughter

Si Xing, go!

But, father...

I said, go!

My dear, what Li Ding Guo owes you

I can only repay it in the next life

Mother!

No...!

Sister!

Father! How can you be so heartless?

How could you kill your wife who has been married to you for twenty years?

And your new-born daughter!

Si Xing, you will either take this spear and kill your father for good

or you will go, now!

Father, your son dares not to kill his father

From this day onwards...

You are no longer my father!

Go!

Go!

Prepare for battle!

Charge...

Charge...

Father... You will regret this!

Li Ding Guo was a hero throughout his life

What a shame he didn't grab the opportunity

Come...

It was this jade pendant that saved your life

Your father killed a few of my generals

I shall send you as a sacrifice to calm their souls

Forget it

All my life, I have been fighting wars

I have killed countless of people

My hands are covered with blood

But I have never killed an infant

I shall leave you on this battlefield

And leave it to your fate...

to decide whether you will live or die

My husband!

My wife

Finally, we met

Qian Ying, come and greet your father

- Father - Good girl

So, this is the Pearl Valley?

Long before Dorgon led the Qing army into the Pass

Emperor Chong Zhen had foreseen that the Ming Dynasty may not survive

hence he had prepared the three secret bases

in order to reinstate the Great Ming Dynasty again

One of these bases is the Pearl Valley

All of the sages who are not willing to be ruled by the Qing Dynasty

are living here in exile

This is indeed a beautiful paradise

My dear

Come...

I have long heard about you, Master Fan

You left your wife and your daughter to assist Emperor Yong Li

Now you have finally reunited with your family

- Please - My husband...

These are the last of the elites of our Great Ming Dynasty

I will introduce them to you once we enter the valley. Here

Godfather

why are you finally bringing me out of the valley today?

It is your seventh birthday today

You have never left the Pearl Valley since you were little

Today I'm going to bring you out to see the world

Does that mean that I will have a lot of good food?

My girl, you are such a picky eater

But it is true that there isn't much good food in the valley

Yi Huan, whatever you want to eat today

I will buy it for you

Really?

Wonderful! I have the best godfather! Let's go!

May I ask... What is happening?

Prince Ping Xi posted a notice that today in the third quarter of noon

The emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu You Lang will be executed publicly

Didn't Zhu You Lang escape to Burma?

The King of Burma dare not to offend

the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty and Wu San Gui

He surrendered Zhu You Lang and his officials

to Wu San Gui

When it comes to a change in the regime

even the life of the emperor is more miserable than the commoners

Take a look at the man kneeling on the stage

and the woman kneeling next to him

Take a good look at them

Remember their faces. You must never forget their faces

Who are they?

Why do I have to remember their faces?

Don't ask why

Listen to me. Take a good look at them

This is your first time seeing them

and your last

Look at this child. She loves to smile

I shall name her Yi Huan

My king... My queen...

Take him down!

Go!

Physician Fan, are you all right?

You are...

Prince Jin!

- Here they are! - Yes!

Your Royal Highness

Rise

Thank you, Your Royal Highness

Emperor Shun Zhi has passed away

His third son

Aisin Gioro Xuan Ye has ascended the throne

and changed the reign title to Kang Xi

Kang Xi is just an eight-year-old kid

The real power lies with the four assisting ministers

These four ministers

have their own factions and agendas

On top of that, Wu San Gui also has his own faction

Hence, we shall see in the future

an opportunity for us to restore the Ming Dynasty

I hope everyone will not lose hope easily

I shall announce the will of the late Emperor

that the Crown Prince shall be married to my daughter, Yi Huan

The bloodline of our Great Ming Dynasty

shall be carried on by the both of them

Yi Huan, come

Didn't I tell you that

Prince Jin is your biological father?

Be good, my girl

Go to your biological father's side
