[Ever Night 2]

[Episode 1]

The Heavenly Scrolls foretold that in Year One of Tianqi,

the Eternal Night would come.

Xiling's Grand Priest of Light, Wei Guangming declared

that the Child of Hades would be born in the Tang Empire.

He learned of the secret that the Tang Emperor had married the Demon Sect Saintess

and used it to blackmail the Tang Empire's General Xia Hou into massacring everyone in the manor of the Power Declaring General.

That night, 127 people from the general's manor died a horrible death.

I was the only one who escaped.

During my escape, I picked up a girl from a pile of dead people,

saved her, and raised her. That child was Sang Sang.

Sang Sang and I traveled from the Min Mountains to Wei City,

then to the Old Writing Brush Shop in the capital. We've been through tests of life and death together.

Officially, we were master and maid, but in reality, we were a family.

My life has been entwined with hers.

Fifteen years later, I brought Sang Sang back to the capital and passed the exam to enter the Tang Academy.

I became Fu Zi's personal disciple.

And then was also taken in by the Great Divine Talisman Expert Yan Se as his successor.

I became friends with the Tang Emperor.

A Heavenly Scroll appeared in the wilderness.

As the ambassador of the Academy, I was sent there.

I met the Book Maniac, Mo Shanshan.

With her help, I successfully broke through to a higher cultivation level

and shot an arrow through my nemesis, Long Qing.

Resulting in my being chased by the Daoism Maniac, Ye Hongyu.

At that dangerous moment, the Demon Sect's Main Gate opened.

The three of us got stuck in the forbidden area.

We fought fiercely with the mysterious Lotus Born 32.

Ye Hongyu was badly wounded.

I ended up being possesed.

After returning to the capital, I had to make a choice between Shanshan and Sang Sang.

By the red wall on a snowy night, sending off my love, we had to say farewell.

The wounded Ye Hongyu was framed in Xiling.

She fled to the capital and spent half a year with me and Sang Sang.

On the bank of Yanming Lake, I had a duel to the death with Xia Hou.

In order to save me, Sang Sang used all her Heavenly Luminescence to release a great amount of light.

Revenge had been sought and Xia Hou was dead.

However, Sang Sang's Chilling Disease relapsed and she has not awakened.

Get up. Come with me. [Heavenly Maiden]

[Sang Sang]

Go where?

[Fu Zi: Head of Tang Academy]

[Ning Que]

Thank you, Teacher, for saving her.

She was born with a cold deficiency.

These past years, she didn't get her illness treated.

Inside her bones and organs, I don't know how much

yin and yang energy has been accumulated. [Jun Mo: Second Teacher of Tang Academy]

[Yu Lian: Third Teacher of Tang Academy]

Good thing, she had the chance

to train under Wei Guangming. [Mu You: Seventh Teacher of Tang Academy]

She was able to absorb the Heavenly Luminance.

How did it become like this?

She was originally a sickly girl.

Ending up being taken by a cold and ruthless master like you

to fight with Xia Hou.

Is Xia Hou that easily defeated? [Chen Pipi: Twelfth Teacher of Tang Academy]

In order to aid you,

she emitted an enormous amount of light on the mountain cliff that night.

Her Heavenly Luminance was fully exhausted.

The cold yin inside her body

took advantage of that, came out and revolted. [Li Manman: First Teacher of the Academy]

What can we do then?

The Ghost Festival at Tile Mountain is approaching.

There is a man who underwent apostolic poverty in Lan Ke, named Qishan.

He will open his door to meet visitors.

Rush to Tile Mountain.

Send Sang Sang to Qishan.

Qishan is the only person who can save her in this world.

Moreover, Qishan is one of the few big shots in this world.

By going there,

it will be beneficial for the both of you.

I am telling you for the last time,

you have to take Sang Sang to Qishan

right before the last leaf on the tree in front of Qishan's cottage

falls down.

I will go. I will go right now.

Remember, it's the last leaf on the tree in front of the cottage.

Yes, Teacher.

[Master Qishan: Elder Lan Ke]

Fu Zi, you really like bringing me trouble.

Your Majesty, three days ago the army reported

that a small batch of army forces from Yan State intruded on the border between Yan and Tang.

Fight back, ferociously fight back!

Yes, Your Majesty!

Your Majesty, the Full Moon State reported on the trouble caused by the rebel army at the state border.

They are earnestly requesting military help.

Senior officials in the army all offered to help.

Your Majesty, after the death of Xia Hou, [Li Zhongyi: Tang Emperor]

Xiling repeatedly wrote to us at the South Faction Monastery,

requesting us to verify the relationship

between the Academy's Thirteenth Teacher and the Child of Hades.

Useless wretch! Those in Xiling are all useless wretches!

Ning Que is my Thirteenth Junior Brother. Anyone who does harm to him, [Li Qingshan: Tang Empire's State Preceptor]

don't even mention any First or Second Teacher, I will be the first to charge out and defend him.

- But— - Enough. No more buts.

Dismissed. You are all dismissed.

Thirteenth Teacher is here!

Your Majesty. Empress.

[Xia Tian: Empress of Tang Empire]

Your Highness the Princess.

[Li Yu: Princess of Tang Empire]

Ning Que. [Li Hunyuan: Third Royal Son of Tang Empire]

It has been a long time. I missed you so much.

Look. My entire family [Li Hupo: Sixth Royal Son of Tang Empire]

all looked forward to seeing you again.

Please pardon me.

I entered the palace today for I have something really important to tell Your Majesty.

I hope I can talk to you in private.

See? Little Sixer.

I told you.

He wants to see only me.

- Your Majesty. - Yes.

We will leave.

Okay.

Emperor Father.

I'll also take my leave.

Okay.

Ning Que.

When are you leaving?

Tomorrow.

Since Fu Zi said so, you'd better set off as soon as possible.

I will send a fine force to escort you.

Thank you, Your Majesty. We are just going to see the doctor.

No need to mobilize so many forces.

We all know that Sang Sang is your birth object.

She's sick now. Plenty of people will take this chance to go against you.

You must be talking about the Child of Hades.

Even I have no idea if the rumor is true or not.

If it's true,

people in Xiling and all the followers of the Light will hate me to death.

They will try every means to kill me.

No matter how many fine forces you send out can't protect me.

You and even the Tang Empire will get involved.

All I know is it's your duty to protect the Tang Empire.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

- I'm off. - Sure.

Thirteenth Junior Brother.

Ning Que, without protection from the Academy and the God Startled Formation,

you won't have an easy time in Xiling. [He Mingchi: Student of the Heavenly Dao South Faction]

Last summer,

my level was forcefully brought down in the Wilderness.

I lost a lot of my cultivation and endured humiliation.

I had to leave Xiling. [Ye Hongyu: Monastery of Knowledge and Obeisance ]

In the capital city of the Tang Empire,

I spent half a year with Ning Que and Sang Sang.

Without fear of death, only seeking the right path.

They made me believe that justice in the world

can only be won through effort and hard work.

So, I'm back.

Grand Priest, we've killed 300 barbarians.

Stopped them from approaching from the south.

Great.

[Mo Yu: Grand Priest of Justice]

Who is that?

The one who will kill you.

Preposterous!

Traitor! How dare you show up here?

Get on your knees!

I only do that for people worthy of me doing so.

Like who?

Like the Light, Monastery Leader,

or Master Lian Sheng.

However, on this example list, you are not listed.

How dare you equate me

with that evil monster, Lian Sheng!

You are even worse than one withered petal of his.

I am indeed wrong to equate you with him.

Although you have the support of the Heaven Decree Academy

and the Monastery Leader, I can still kill you.

You know the rules of the Justice Department.

I'm very clear about them.

That is to kill the previous Grand Priest of Justice.

You are here to steal this throne.

Do you think you can kill me?

As long as you are dead, there will be a new heir to take the position.

You are too confident.

Leave!

Come and battle with me!

Put your sword away.

I can forgive you for your stupidity.

You seem quite tolerant.

But I am not.

You've elevated past your cultivation level!

Yes.

The Knowing Destiny Level.

Grand River Sword Force...

By fighting with me,

you were able to attain the Knowing Destiny Level again.

That's impossible!

[Zi Mo: Justice Department]

When I was humiliated in Xiling years ago,

you looked at me with dirty looks just like these.

All of you have to pay for that.

The new Grand Priest of Justice is here!

[Green Gorge, Tang Empire]

Stop, you bastard horse!

Stop!

Big Brother! That horse is mine.

What's wrong with it?

It's yours?

Fine! Give me some justice here! [Yang Erxi: Dongjiang Border Army]

Today, my wife made a big bowl of porridge for me.

I hadn't even drunk a mouthful and it was swallowed by this black fellow!

Aren't you afraid of scalding your mouth?

Sang Sang.

Hey, Big Brother, quell your anger first.

About that... I didn't teach it properly. You must not touch him!

I'll give you this silver as compensation!

Fuck off!

I don't want your money. I already have my sights on your horse.

You have your sights on this horse?

I see that this fellow is tall and broad, like a military horse.

I was wondering if there's an army around?

Seems like you've been in the army before?

My name is Yang Erxi from the Dongjiang Border Army.

Wei City Border Army, Ning Que!

You are one of us!

Wait. Wait.

You have done some military training, have you?

No wonder I feel so close to you.

Is this your daughter?

Daughter?

She's my wife.

Your wife?

You have pretty good luck.

Are you going somewhere far away?

Yes. We are heading to the Ghost Festival.

The road there is unpredictable, take care!

I take my leave.

Greetings, Grand Priest of Justice!

Some people need not greet me.

Zi Mo, Jin Xuan, Lei Yu, and Mu Honglin.

Your cultivation will be destroyed and you will be expelled from Xiling.

What? Why?

We are the elite men of the Xiling Shrine.

What right do you have to punish us?

Zi Mo,

no matter how brave you act,

the moment I called your names,

you all were no longer in the cavalry of Xiling.

I told you I'm not a tolerant person.

If you all dare to step into Xiling again...

Before, I was the Child of Light. [Long Qing: Prince of Yan State]

My proud life was nearly ruined by him.

He made me fall into the abyss.

He made me drift about in misery.

Because of him, I was left in ruin and withered away.

I rotted alone with no one noticing.

Since then, I've lived my days like a mad man.

I then regained my strength in the darkness.

Today, I will seek him out for revenge.

I will declare my ambition and strength to the world!

We trained all our lives.

But just because of that woman's words,

our cultivation was destroyed and we became dogs that are inferior to people.

Are we never going back, Sir Zi Mo?

Since we've been abandoned

and sent to the bottom of the abyss, why not just keep falling?

We are nothing more than a bunch of homeless dogs.

Have we really been abandoned by the Light?

Anyone who can help us get out of this plight,

even if it's Hades,

I am willing to offer him my life and soul.

I do not fear sinking for eternity.

If you do not fear sinking, you can live forever.

Your Highness.

Your Highness. Your Highness!

Your Highness! Your Highness!

Your Highness.

Everyone said you'd already…

You're still alive. This is great.

Not only am I alive, I intend to get back all that we've lost.

Will you follow me?

We swear to follow Your Highness until death!

Your Highness, this is...

It's the Sitting Pill. Taking it

will reopen your Qihai and Xueshan (acupoints) and you will regain your cultivation.

We will sacrifice our lives to pay our debt of gratitude.

Maybe I'm not the Child of Light of Xiling.

Maybe I'm the Child of Hades.

From today, we are no longer the servants of Xiling.

We are now the Cavalry of Degradation leading people toward destruction.

The Cavalry of Degradation!

Get on your horses!

Let's stop here for tonight.

They all say that if two people get into a serious relationship,

they might not love each other that much anymore.

Not as much as before at least.

What are you talking about?

Was that from Xiao Cao, who has nothing to do all day

but to fill you with these silly and sentimental ideas?

But… will they stop loving each other?

Of course...

not!

Let me put it this way. You've been a part of my Ning Family since you were just born.

It has been 16 years.

Have I ever been fed up with you? Have you?

For so many years, we've never lost the passion and love for each other.

That then means we will not get fed up with each other forever.

Even if we do, we will still stick together.

Ning Que, the way you speak now is much better.

Why aren't you calling me "Young Master?"

I can't because I'm talking sweet.

But you also like other girls.

No, I don't.

How about the princess?

That is… That is only puppy love.

An affection that will not go anywhere.

Looking at it on a deeper level, it is probably the same as

the princess fantasy of a poor disciple.

And how about Sister Shui Zhu'er?

That's Teacher's girl. Show some respect.

The Bookworm Maniac?

Bookworm Maniac.

The wind seems to be getting strong.

Let's get back inside the carriage.

Let's go. Let's hurry.

What is it?

Someone's coming.

What's the level?

All are in the See-Through Level. Five are in the Upper Level of See-Through.

And one… is already at the peak.

Get in the carriage.

Come.

Black Thingy, get moving!

I can sense a disgusting smell. It's the smell of corruption only found in Xiling.

Although a lot of elite fighters have joined the Xiling Shrine Cavalry these past years,

it cannot cover up the smell completely.

Lie down first. We'll try to flee from them.

Another one has come.

Find him.

I... cannot be sure.

It has been a long time.

You are still alive.

I let you down.

How did you survive?

It's a long story.

Tell me before you die,

or else you won't have another chance.

Stop being naive.

I smelled a rotten body before I saw you.

Go die!

The Yuan Thirteen Arrow only has 13 arrows.

I will wait until you finish all of them.

Do you think you can dodge all of them?

Get in the carriage!

Are you cold?

Wait.

Here.

Take a sip.

Sang Sang!

Sang Sang!

Your little maidservant is dying. You will be the next one.

Teacher, the first talisman I made in my life was the Rain Talisman.

You told me that rain can nurture things silently.

It can also kill people in silence. Today, I'm borrowing rain from Heaven.

Teacher, help me!

The battle has just started,

yet you already showed your strongest card.

Men should start with the best in a battle.

Horrible and powerful as the Pound Sign Talisman, it will go into tranquil extinction eventually.

Wait until the Rain Talisman loses its power and the sunny sky appears,

you will have your death then.

You can't get away tonight.

You seem to say that every time,

but every time I eventually win.

You still like to show off through arguing.

If getting into the Two-Story Building and shooting an arrow at you in the Wilderness

counts as showing off through argument,

then I'm sure good at it.

Those two incidents only gave me greater motivation.

If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been a student of Monastery Leader.

I would never have found the Heaven Channelling Pill.

In that sense, I owe you thanks.

Is this how you say thank you?

Is this the right manner that the Monastery Leader taught you?

You and your teacher really need to take a lesson from Instructor Cao in our academy on manners.

As for the Heaven Channeling Pill, I had one several years ago.

My Twelfth Senior Brother has a bunch.

As long as I like it, I can eat one every day. Just like eating stir-fried beans.

Did anyone tell you that you are very mean?

Xiling said I was the Child of Hades.

The Child of Hades should be mean

so as to highlight your loftiness, the Child of Light.

You can be the Child of Light.

I'm the real Child of Hades.

Are you fighting over such a lousy title with me?

All right, all right, all right.

Then I will…

let you have it.
