Episode 5

Duanmu.

You are back.

Sect Leader Duanmu.

Where's Yan Yan?

Is he back with you?

Later.

He'll wake up soon.

Wengu.

Look what I've found.

Penglai Drawing.

Why does it appear

as a hairpin?

I don't know.

Penglai Drawing was lost

after given divine status.

Why it appears in the world again?

The Demon Clan

wants the Penglai Drawing.

What do they want?

I am curious too.

The drawing is

useless to them.

No matter what,

safety first.

They are vicious.

They might kill you.

I'm not afraid.

Hong Luan.

What's the matter?

Nothing.

I am not feeling well.

What?

She's injured.

Just now Hong Luan risked her life

to protect Yan Yan's life lamp.

It's only a minor injury.

I'll be fine.

Rest first.

I can handle the rest.

Wengu.

Luckily, you brought Blind Girl

and told me Mirror Spirit's past.

You saved me.

You are a hero of Xihualiu Sect.

I am no hero.

I failed to save you personally.

But Mirror Spirit

doesn't know the envoy of the Demon Clan's plan.

She's only a pawn.

You must be patience.

I can't wait.

I want to find

the envoy of the Demon Clan now.

My eyes...

Yes.

You can see.

You can now see the colours

and sceneries of

different seasons.

It's him.

You are able to see due to

his practice of 900 years.

Miss Meng Die.

Don't let him down.

I don't want your dream.

I don't want your eyes.

I only want you.

I only want you.

Silly girl.

You can finally see.

Don't destroy it.

He'll be sad

if he finds out.

Yes.

Yes.

Don't feel sad.

Maybe one day

he'll return.

Really?

I'll treasure it.

I will put it to good use.

Where there's a will

there's a way.

Lord Shangguan.

To the medical hall.

Hong Luan.

Rest well.

Wengu.

You stay here.

I'll send her home.

High Immortal.

I didn't listen to you.

I broke the 23th rules in Duanmu Residence.

It is rightful

for you to kill me.

I know

you didn't hurt Duanmu.

I won't kill you.

You can leave.

High Immortal.

Please don't chase me out.

I have nowhere to go, really.

Do you know what it is like in the Ninth Hell?

It's in a giant turtle's belly.

Four seasons don't exist there.

No days nor nights.

Everyone in the Demon Clan fights for food,

and kills each other.

If the seal on the Ninth Hell didn't break,

weak demons like me

couldn't have escaped

and survived until today.

It is the fate of the Demon Clan.

Did you know?

Until today,

what's my greatest fear?

I don't know them.

I don't understand you.

I have no clue.

Once I have obtained it, I'm scared of losing it.

You took me in.

But you want me to leave.

I would rather die.

You'll recover soon.

High Immortal.

Can I really stay?

This is...

You are awake.

You are awake.

You are awake.

Here.

Mother.

Mother.

You're awake.

Mother.

You woke up.

You finally woke up.

-Mother. -I'm so glad.

It's my fault.

From now on,

we'll be good to you.

I'm so glad.

I'm so glad.

Godmother.

My dear.

You are awake.

Great.

Slowly.

Where am I?

You are all here.

By the way,

I had a dream just now.

I was swayed by your sweet words.

I dreamt that Yan'er had a wife.

It's all but a dream.

All of you are here.

I can rest assured now.

I feel at ease.

Godmother.

What about me?

I missed you so much.

You're in my dream.

Was I

married too?

Was she pretty?

It's only a dream.

If you truly care about me,

get a wife soon.

I think Yan Yan is right.

As an official of Qifeng Prefecture,

the safety of the people of Qifeng

is utmost important.

Personal matters shouldn't

interfere with my job.

You

always hide behind Yan'er.

My dear.

I'm glad that you're fine.

Thanks to the help of Sect Leader Duanmu.

Father is here.

My son.

What a pity.

My son.

He still can't let go.

Sect Leader Duanmu.

Sect Leader Duanmu.

You're back.

I'm very grateful.

Where's Zhan Yan?

Will Lord Zhan ever come back?

Don't say that.

He saved so many people.

He'll be all right.

Oh no!

Lord Zhan

starts to rot.

What?

Why?

Everyone was fine

at the medical hall.

Why Yan Yan's condition

deteriorates?

Is he lost in his dream?

He can't come out?

You're back, Xiao Yan.

Come and eat.

Come sit down.

Here.

Zhan Yan.

Wake up.

Slowly.

We have plenty.

Mother.

I should have come earlier.

No matter how late you are,

I'll wait for you.

I'll cook for you.

Mother.

Do you know

how old I am now?

Silly boy.

You are 12 years old this year.

Mother.

I am already 25 years old.

I am the head of constable in Qifeng Prefecture.

I have grown up.

Divine Doctor Wengu.

Sect Leader Duanmu.

Please save him.

Mirror Spirit is dead,

no one can enter the illusion world.

It's his subconscious.

He will have to

work his way out.

I should have stopped him.

It's my fault.

It's my fault.

Yan Yan.

Yan Yan.

Can you hear me?

You told me

for the world

and the people,

you want to keep this world

pure and away from evil.

As long as you live,

you will protect Qifeng City.

A day.

A month.

Ten years.

Twenty years.

They are too short.

Qifeng City

forever needs you.

Yan Yan.

Yan Yan.

Wake up, Yan Yan.

Zhan Yan.

I know you can hear me.

Have you forgotten

you owe me the third condition?

Why?

Are you regretting now?

Fine.

I'll compromise.

The third condition

is that you must

wake up now.

If you don't agree,

from now on I'll be in charge of

Qifeng Prefecture.

Lord Shangguan.

You look really sad.

Do you really want to save him?

Fine.

If you agree to my condition,

I will try my best and

help you think of a way.

Please tell me.

As long as Qifeng and I can do it.

Anything.

From now on,

Qifeng Prefecture will listen to Xihualiu.

You take advantage of my situation.

It's not a rightful thing to do.

Stop the nonsense.

Do you agree?

This is

not for me to decide.

I must consult the Marquis.

Can you save him first?

Lord Shangguan.

Duanmu is joking with you.

Agree or not,

we must save him.

Come with me.

Zhan Yan.

You can go in peace.

Qifeng Prefecture

belongs to me now.

I'll treat it kindly.

If you can be rest assured,

you can sleep on.

If you can't,

then wake up now.

I will only count to three.

One.

Two.

Three.

Are you serious, Sect Leader Duanmu?

Serious about what?

Sect Leader Duanmu.

Yan Yan.

You're awake.

You're awake.

You're all right.

Great.

Great.

You're all right.

You're just in time.

Sect Leader Duanmu said

Xihualiu will be under Qifeng Prefecture.

Really?

What do you think?

Sect Leader Duanmu.

Qifeng Prefecture will cooperate with

Xihualiu Sect.

As to how we cooperate,

we'll let Sect Leader Duanmu decides.

Sect Leader Duanmu.

I have a request.

Thanks to your help that

Yan Yan is alive.

And Divine Doctor Wengu.

Can you let Yan Yan

stay a few more days

in Xihualiu Sect?

So that Divine Doctor Wengu

can look after him.

There are things to look into in Qifeng Prefecture.

I...

The Marquis and I are there.

Don't worry.

If you don't recover fully,

it'll affect your work.

It's not worth it.

The divine doctor and the immortal

will protect you.

It's the safest place.

Don't worry.

He is very weak.

We won't chase him out.

Thank you in advance, Sect Leader Duanmu.

Not at all.

We charge daily

in Xihualiu Sect.

Chargeable?

Is Sect Leader Duanmu joking

or serious?

If she is serious,

she's so stingy as an immortal.

But if she's joking,

are both of you good friends?

Yan Yan.

Are you hiding something from me?

Yan Yan.

Don't pretend sleeping.

Are you hiding something?

Don't pretend sleeping.

What's happening?

You and her

aren't that close.

You only met for a few days.

Dear friends.

I have something

to tell you.

My sister is ordered

to catch the Demon Clan in the mortal world.

It's a long journey

without proper meals.

It's hard work.

I hope all of you

could lend a hand to her.

If you do well,

I won't hold you responsible for tricking her

into going to the mortal world.

Otherwise...

I believe all of you

will have no objection?

No objection.

Your Lordship.

It was stormy in Guixu today.

But it is all right now.

Is she really

all right?

It shakes slightly.

You told me to report everything to you.

That's why I...

It's fine.

I'll take a look myself.

Look.

Not a big issue.

This thing from Lao Jun

is working fine?

There's no movement at all.

Your Lordship.

You want Duanmu to fall in love

or not to fall in love?

Let me go.

Let me go.

These little monsters are Duanmu's toys.

She is out of space.

I help keep a few.

These are Sect Leader Duanmu's toys?

Sect Leader Duanmu has a big heart.

She has unique hobbies.

Aren't they cute?

Did these little monsters

disturb you from resting?

I woke up long ago.

They didn't disturb me.

Looks like you are

almost recovered.

Drink this.

You should be fine.

Thank you, Mr Wengu.

I believe Sect Leader Duanmu

added bitter herbs

in the medicine.

It's good for you.

I have prepared you

a candy.

Are you always like this?

What?

Always helping Sect Leader Duanmu

to solve all her worries.

I was with her before I ascended to the celestial realm.

I helped her

solve all the troubles.

As time goes by,

it becomes a habit.

So, when I stay on in Xihualiu,

I am disturbing you

and Sect Leader Duanmu.

Let's eat.

Lord Zhan.

I cooked some dishes for you.

Just to help you make a small wish comes true.

Thank you.

Sit down, Hong Luan.

It's all right.

I mustn't eat with you.

I'll eat in the kitchen.

Whoever enters my residence

belongs to me.

We're all equal.

Sit down and eat.

Quick.

Thank you.

Lord Zhan.

Try this.

I made this.

How is it?

Wengu pour this.

How is it?

It's quite tasty.

That's what I thought.

My cooking is not that bad.

What magical spatula from Yi Ya?

I spent three months

looking for you.

And you are a lousy cook.

Go back.

Are you all right?

I can handle this.

Oh no.

Oh no!

Fire.

Fire.

Xiao Hei is naughty.

Wengu.

Be careful.

Don't get me and Hong Luan wet.

I am sorry.

I can't get another umbrella.

You are good in spells.

Your reaction is fast.

Thank you.

Water and fire at Duanmu Residence.

It's an eye-opener for mortals like me.

I shouldn't stay too long.

I'll leave by tomorrow.

Please take care of this item.

Well,

a gift is unnecessary.

Isn't this my earring?

The case is closed.

This belongs to you.

You keep it.

I always

forget my things.

I'll buy you a new one.

You are the best.

Not like some people.

You have just recovered.

Don't catch a cold.

Wengu gave me some medicine

for the cold.

Come with me. I'll get it for you.

Thank you.

Elder.

There's not even a scoop of clean water in

Ninth Hell?

The tea

tastes funny.

This is natural rainwater.

A handful after few days.

Please be patient.

Did you talk back

in front of the Demon King?

I dare not.

I don't mean that.

The Demon King perished during the war

in Chong City.

We were forced to hide

in the ghostly realm of Ninth Hell.

Elder.

Mountain demon and

Mirror Spirit were killed by Duanmu Cui.

Where is the Penglai Drawing Mirror Spirit had?

It is now with Duanmu Cui.

I am sorry.

I failed to get it.

Useless.

Duanmu Cui.

It's Duanmu Cui again.

She was the one

who defeated Chong City.

We must collect all fragments of

Penglai Drawing before her

to obtain the power to open the seal on Ninth Hell.

To release the Demon Clan.

You must get the Penglai Drawing fragments

from Duanmu Cui.

Mountain demon and Mirror Spirit are dead.

Our practice of thousands of years

can't defeat her Samadhi Fire.

I can't get it from her.

Furthermore,

Penglai Drawing

is kept close to her in her Qiankun Bag.

It's impossible

to get close to her.

It's not that difficult.

Make Duanmu Cui lose her powers.

Wait till she's about to die,

and get the Penglai Drawing.

Don't worry.

I have my way to help you.

Yes, Elder.

Xihualiu

Hong Luan.

What are you doing?

Sect Leader.

You are still up.

It's late.

What's the matter?

I am going to wash these clothes.

I am washing yours together.

You just got hurt, you need rest.

Ever seen a High Immortal wash clothes?

Immortals are clean.

No need to wash.

Go back to bed.

Sect Leader.

You may not have dust on you,

but you came out from the illusion

after a good fight.

Even if it's not dirty,

it's still bad luck.

I'll use pomelo leaves

to soak your clothes, just like those mortals do.

You won't bump into those from the Demon Clan.

Little Peach Blossom.

You are a good assistant.

Only you

will think of this in here.

But,

there's no need.

It's fine.

Sect Leader.

Don't feel bad for me.

Please forgive me.

I didn't do it purposely.

I didn't mean to offend it.

Stand up.

I know you didn't mean it.

The bag was made by Lao Jun.

It can hold anything.

It's a holy relic.

Demon Clan can't get near it.

They'll get hurt

or die from it.

You can't deliberately seek your own death?

No.

I was terrified just now.

Fine.

If you want to wash my clothes,

go ahead.

Rest early.

Are you sneaking up on me?

Didn't expect a mortal like you

to use the sacred sword Ju Que.

Where did you get it?

A gift from Lord Jiang.

It is said to be a treasure

handed down in the army.

It looks familiar.

Too bad I can't remember.

Not only your memory is bad,

you can't recognise the way too.

I see that you dislike me.

I wonder when you are

leaving this place?

It's getting late.

I'll leave now.

Great.

I'll see you off.

Thank you for having me.

Lord Zhan.

Sect Leader Duanmu.

You...

What brings you here?

Lord Zhan.

Someone died in Yuexin Lake last night.

He was covered in blisters.

It's very weird.

Yes.

They said it's evil spirit.

People in Qifeng City is terrified.

Rich people spend a fortune

for Taoist master to protect them.

A fortune?

How much?

Xihualiu Sect

shouldn't be excluded from the trade.

We are in this together.

Did Qifeng Prefecture

help us get any business?

Evil spirits don't exist.

Ghosts don't exist.

Let's go.

Let's see the body.

Qifeng Prefecture

What did the coroner say

about the blisters?

The coroner said

he was old and weak.

He was most probably drowned.

But the wounds on his body

were from mosquito bites.

Any other evidence?

Yes.

Found this on the body.

Old people likes to eat candied fruits.

People on medication likes sweet stuff.

But...

Found it.

What's this?

Men don't believe in demon.

This thing makes demon

visible to the human eyes.

As expected.

Don't waste your energy.

Only one place

can treat this patient.

Wengu Medical Hall

Thank you, Divine Doctor Wengu.

Thank you, Divine Doctor Wengu.

Wengu.

You're here, Lord Zhan.

This is...

Sect Leader Duanmu from Xihualiu.

Xihualiu?

There are monsters in Xihualiu.

You...

What did you say?

I am a member of Xihualiu.

If you don't respect her,

go elsewhere then.

Sect Leader Duanmu is a guest in Qifeng Prefecture.

If you see her in Qifeng City,

please respect her.

Divine Doctor Wengu.

What's the diagnosis?

They aren't sick.

It's poison.

But I can't tell what poison.

How dare the Demon Clan do this?

We just caught one,

and here's another one.

Why do they

risk their lives?

Duanmu.

Watch out.

It's messy here.

Don't dirty your clothes.

I can't help.

I won't cause trouble.

Go get busy.

Hong Luan.

Sect Leader.

Eat something.

Duanmu.

Miss Hong Luan.

Where was this from?

The patient's family

sent this to Mr Wengu.

A peddler handed this out at the pier

on the way to Yuexin Lake.

Yuexin Lake?

-Let's go and take a look. -Let's go.

Here.

Hold it.

Candied fruits.

Peddler.

Yuexin Lake.

Theatre.

It was built on the first year of Tiansheng era

by philanthropist Yuan Bin.

It looks natural

and blends in well.

It's spacious.

Lord Zhan.

We're here on a case.

Why are you talking about this?

The deceased fell from the theatre and drowned here.

There are mosquito marks on his body.

The clue is here.

Get on the boat.

Why don't you board the boat?

Are you afraid of something?

I'm not afraid.

What is it?

Nothing.

Just a little emotional.

Lord Zhan.

Do you think all mothers

would do anything

for their children?

It's mother instinct to protect the children.

I think they would.

Why some mothers

don't care about their children?

Sometimes they don't have a choice.

They must have their reasons.

Is it?

Is there a reason?

Enjoy.

Dear,

this candied fruit

is very nice.

Try one.

You eat.

It's here.

Stop right there.
