[The Princess Weiyoung]

[Episode 35]

I must punish you severely today.

If not, who will fear me?

- Guards! - Hold on!

Your Majesty!

I wasn't in Crown Prince's Manor at the time of the assassination.

I was framed for the murder of Crown Princess Consort!

Hence, I chose to escape from prison and risk my life to prove my innocence

instead of doing nothing about it!

Someone framed you for it?

Crown Princess Consort said that you were the murderer.

There are also many witnesses.

All of them spoke out against you.

- How dare you profess your innocence? - Your Majesty.

Have you heard of the art of disguise?

The art of disguise?

Exactly.

The art of disguise helps one take on the appearance of another.

Their appearance could be almost identical.

Someone disguised as me assassinated Her Highness.

Someone was out to frame me!

Even if there really is the art of disguise

how can you prove that you weren't the person at Crown Prince's Manor?

Please investigate it, Your Majesty. I have evidence to prove it.

This evidence proves that I wasn't at Crown Prince's Manor.

How does this prove your alibi?

That is my handprint.

At the time of the murder

I was on my way to the Earth God Shrine in the east of the city.

I went past an inn on the way.

The inn just had their walls plastered.

I accidentally touched the wall.

That handprint is from the wall.

The other page is the testimony that documents when the wall was plastered.

It was very close to the time Her Highness was murdered.

No matter how capable I am

I couldn't possibly have gotten to Crown Prince's Manor so quickly.

If Your Majesty doesn't believe me

you can investigate to confirm my statement is true.

Question staff at the inn and you'll have an answer.

Li Wei Young.

You really are something.

I have underestimated you.

I will send my men to verify the evidence you provided.

However, even if you can prove that you didn't kill Crown Princess Consort

it is also a capital offense to escape from the Imperial Dungeon!

It seems that you still haven't studied the laws of Great Wei by heart.

Wei Young... Wei Young grew up in the countryside.

It's true that...

I really don't know much about the laws and regulations.

You grew up in the countryside?

Li Wei Young.

How dare you keep lying to me?

Guards!

- Present! - Take a look at her left wrist.

Yes!

Take a good look at this!

Your Majesty, I...

You aren't Li Wei Young.

You're Xin Er, the daughter of Northern Liang's traitor!

You changed your name and snuck into Great Wei.

You acted as the daughter of my subject and made friends with Prince of Gaoyang.

What is your motive?

If you don't confess now, I will have you beaten to death!

Yes, Your Majesty.

I am Prince of Hexi's daughter.

Princess of Northern Liang.

You finally admitted it.

It isn't that I was scared to admit it.

I didn't mean to keep it from Your Majesty intentionally.

It's just that I never had the chance to tell you the truth.

Moreover, there are people who thwarted me from doing so.

Someone thwarted you from doing so?

Who?

You are all dismissed now!

Yes.

Can you tell me now?

It was General Chiyun Nan!

Chiyun Nan?

It all started when Chiyun Nan discovered the iron mine in Liang Region.

In order to have Liang Region bestowed to him

so that he could have the iron mine all to himself

he framed my father for mutiny and wiped out my entire royal family.

Nonsense!

Chiyun Nan has already handed over the iron mine.

How is that keeping it all to himself?

Your father obviously rebelled for his own personal interests.

General Chiyun Nan had no choice but to suppress him with armed forces.

Chiyun Nan already knew my true identity.

Handing over the iron mine is but a contingency plan of his.

How am I to believe your story?

The report of Zhangye City's late governor proves it.

Ma Jun's report?

Exactly.

Governor Ma Jun had already found out

that Chiyun Nan pocketed the iron mine and deceived Your Majesty.

He wrote a report to impeach Chiyun Nan.

He never thought that before he could send out the report

he would be killed by Chiyun Nan.

Where is the report now?

Prince of Gaoyang has the report.

Jun?

Your Highness.

You have been here on your knees for two days.

You haven't had any food.

How can you go on like this?

I have brought you some food.

Please at least take a bite.

Your Highness!

Her Highness doted on you the most.

She couldn't bear to have you hungry or cold.

Don't you think it will upset her if you behave like this?

Your Highness, please heed my advice.

Please have something to eat!

Your Highness!

Your Highness, there's news from the palace!

The Imperial Dungeon caught fire.

The Imperial Dungeon caught fire?

Wei Young is still in there...

Wei Young is still in there...

The Imperial Dungeon caught fire? I hope she was burned alive.

She killed Her Highness. She deserved such a punishment!

- Your Highness! - Your Highness!

Your Highness is still worried about Li Wei Young?

The truth is yet to be investigated.

If she was framed, she mustn't die now.

If...

If she really did kill my mother...

She can't die so easily.

- Your Highness! - Your Highness!

Greetings to Prince of Gaoyang!

The Imperial Dungeon caught fire. How is Wei Young?

Wei Young set it on fire.

She escaped to seek an audience with His Majesty to clear her name.

You can hardly fend for yourself anymore...

Yet, you still have to avenge your country.

His Majesty is outraged.

He is interrogating Wei Young now.

Wei Young has been in there for a long time. I don't know how it's going.

Please help her, Prince of Gaoyang!

Your Highness!

Orders were sent from the palace. Your Highness has been summoned!

- I hear you. Step back. - Yes!

Is Wei Young in trouble?

Please head over to the palace right away to save Wei Young!

These are the last words of Zhangye City's late governor, Ma Jun?

Chiyun Nan!

How dare he deceive me?

Jun.

Since you already knew about it, why didn't you report this to me?

Please punish me for keeping the truth from Grandfather.

I pleaded with His Highness to keep it a secret.

Grandfather.

It wasn't entirely because of Li Wei Young.

I had taken Chiyun family's influence and military power into consideration.

Unless I could be positively certain

I feared that revealing the truth would cause a huge impact on the government.

Forget it.

You are still mourning the death of your mother.

I can empathize with what you're going through.

I won't hold you responsible.

You may be dismissed now.

I now know the truth.

I will have you returned to the dungeon until the investigation is concluded.

Then, I will make my verdict.

Your Majesty, since we now have evidence to prove Chiyun Nan's evil scheme

please announce his crimes to the public and clear my father's name.

My father is no traitor.

Please also spare the poor people of Liang

so that they can once again lead a stable life.

Announce to the public?

Am I to tell everyone that I had bad judgment

and was fooled by my own subject

so that my people can mock me for being fatuous?

Li Wei Young.

You want me to avenge your father and clear his name?

Have you considered that I, too need to uphold my reputation?

Would Your Majesty allow your subject to deceive and insult you?

That is enough!

I won't kill a meritorious subject for the daughter of a traitor.

However...

I can promise to let the Liang slaves off.

They can be treated as the people of Great Wei.

From now on, there will be no people of Liang.

All shall be the people of Great Wei.

My people!

As the princess of Northern Liang

shouldn't you put the interests of your people first?

Could you bear to see them serve as homeless slaves forever?

You would have them roam aimlessly without a place to call home?

Revenge?

Or your people?

It's up to you to decide which should come first.

I thank Your Majesty on behalf of my people

of Northern Liang for your great kindness.

Go back to the Imperial Dungeon.

Stay there and behave yourself.

I'll have you released once the real murderer

of Crown Princess Consort is revealed.

And...

You are not to proclaim innocence to Prince of Gaoyang.

Your Majesty...

I want him to hate you and forget you!

You're the princess of a vanquished nation.

I won't allow you to be with Prince of Gaoyang.

I will wipe out your entire clan

if you reveal even a word of what we spoke about today.

Take her away.

Your Highness.

Cheng De.

I want you to investigate the day of my mother's murder thoroughly.

Crown Prince's Manor...

Prime Minister's Manor...

Be sure to look into anything that seems suspicious.

Your Highness.

I'd also like to believe that Li Wei Young isn't the murderer

but Her Highness said so herself.

Miss Qiu Yi witnessed it.

Why won't Your Highness accept the truth?

My mother's death pains me greatly.

Everyone spoke out against Wei Young but I wasn't in the mood to verify that.

However, I can never believe that Wei Young would lie to me.

Li Min De told me what Wei Young had him investigate.

She said that it could prove her innocence.

If Wei Young had really wanted to kill my mother

why would she do it so conspicuously?

That planted doubt in my mind so...

Just do as I said.

Please.

Your Highness, even if you asked me take my life now

I wouldn't even hesitate.

I will carry out your orders right away.

Min De!

Chang Ru?

Min De, how is Wei Young?

She's in the Imperial Dungeon.

She wouldn't kill anyone.

You must find evidence to save her.

Don't worry.

Well...

What is it?

There might have been a turn of events.

That is great!

Wei Young is a kind person. She will surely be blessed.

Don't worry.

A turn of events?

Li Wei Young killed Crown Princess Consort.

Could she possibly make it out alive?

Li Min De didn't elaborate much.

I think that it might have to do with Li Wei Young's true identity...

Prince of Hexi...

His Majesty must have known

that Prince of Hexi was framed and killed by Chiyun Nan.

Perhaps... His Majesty might spare Li Wei Young out of pity?

However, Miss Wei Young and Prince of Gaoyang are in love.

Even if Prince of Nan-An is interested in her, he can't have her.

You have underestimated Prince of Nan-An.

Nothing can stop him from getting whatever he desires.

I've waited for him all these years.

I can't afford to take any risk.

What should we do now?

Tie up all the loose ends.

I can't take the chance of sparing Li Wei Young.

[Taifu Hall]

General Chiyun Nan!

Generations of his family served the court.

He went on conquests and pacified unrest in the nation.

His merits and services are to be commended with honor.

Chiyun Nan is hereby appointed Lord Protector today.

He shall manage the 18 commanderies

in the four regions of You, Tianshui, WuWei, and Anding.

He is to take his new post in You Region starting today.

In addition, Lord Protector will be heavily burdened with government affairs

and hence too occupied to handle military affairs.

Chiyun Nan is to hand over the imperial tally

to be taken over by Military Office temporarily.

By orders of the emperor himself.

Lord Protector.

Shouldn't you thank His Majesty?

Your subject... accepts the decree.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

[Imperial Dungeon]

What?

Chiyun Nan was appointed Lord Protector?

Lower your voice.

I only heard about it when the officials were chatting.

However, it's said that this promotion is actually a demotion.

Chiyun Nan is to take his new post in You Region.

He had to hand over the imperial tally.

Hand over the imperial tally?

That means that Chiyun Nan no longer holds any military power

and his family is just a pretty face now.

Exactly.

It's a pity that he can still enjoy his life in such glory.

You should just worry about yourself.

My uncle is totally indifferent to this matter.

Old Madam couldn't do much about it.

Those cousins of yours...

All they do is make cynical remarks.

Only Chang Ru believes that you're innocent.

A true friend is revealed in adversity.

Please thank her for me.

Jun Tao and Bai Zhi must be very worried about me.

Please take care of them for me.

Especially Jun Tao.

She acts on impulse.

Whatever happens, you must keep an eye on her.

I'm worried that she might act irrationally.

Don't worry.

Bai Zhi!

Second Young Master!

How is my mistress? Did you catch the murderer?

Don't worry.

We already found evidence to prove Wei Young innocent.

Once we arrest the real culprit

I believe that His Majesty will let Wei Young go free.

Where is Jun Tao?

Jun Tao? She's missing.

She's missing?

This morning, Jun Tao left suddenly after receiving some news.

She didn't say a word.

News? What news?

Something about Lord Protector.

Young Mistress is right.

Jun Tao went out right after she heard the news about Chiyun Nan.

Since Li Wei Young is the princess of Northern Liang

her most trusted and highly skilled bodyguard, Jun Tao

must be from Liang as well.

Her mistress is on the verge of death in the Imperial Dungeon

and their arch enemy, Chiyun Nan, got promoted.

How could she do nothing after hearing such news?

Let her kick up a fuss.

The more trouble she stirs up, the more danger Li Wei Young is in.

Young Mistress is so smart.

Grandmother, I'll soon assume my new post in You Region.

Please take care.

Aunt Rou, you must also take care.

Nan...

His Majesty has actually demoted you in this promotion.

He is deliberately robbing you of your military power.

Since His Majesty has made such a gesture

you must be very careful on your way to You Region.

Don't worry, Aunt Rou.

I understand.

Li Wei Young must have told His Majesty about Prince of Hexi.

His Majesty no longer trusts me.

How would Li Wei Young know about it?

Because she is the princess of Northern Liang!

She has targeted Chiyun family!

It doesn't matter who she is anymore.

Now that each and every one of you is in such a predicament

could it be that Chiyun family is truly beyond salvation?

Don't worry, Grandmother.

As long as I live

Chiyun family will surely be restored to its former glory

and even exceed that of our predecessors.

[Chiyun Manor]

General!

General, Hong Luo is willing to follow you wherever you go.

Please take me with you.

I won't take you with me.

I'm entrusting you with a more important mission.

General, I'm at your service.

I'm willing to carry out the task even if it means risking my life.

I do not know what lies ahead.

While I'm away from home

I entrust the safety of Chiyun Manor to you.

Please rest assured, General.

Even if I have to sacrifice my life

I will protect Young Mistress and Madam Chiyun.

Hong Luo...

Await my return.

General!

Safe journey!

What is to come has come.

Chiyun family rendered a great service to His Majesty.

Why would His Majesty find me unbearable?

Row the boat!

Why have you stopped rowing?

Who exactly are you?

It's you?

You serve Li Wei Young!

Chiyun Nan!

You killed Prince of Hexi and my father!

Her Highness is now in the Imperial Dungeon!

You must be behind it!

I shall avenge the thousands of lives lost in Great Liang!

Your Majesty, I witnessed it.

It was Princess Anping's bodyguard, Jun Tao, who killed Chiyun Nan.

Step back.

Yes.

Li Wei Young, it seems that you won't stop until you get what you want.

Your Majesty.

In my opinion, this is all for the best.

Since Li Wei Young is out for revenge

why doesn't Your Majesty just let her take the blame for it?

Otherwise, those officials will say

that Your Majesty can't put up with meritorious subjects.

Slap yourself.

I talk too much! I talk too much!

[Imperial Dungeon]

Wei Young.

Min De?

This is all my fault.

I forgot to keep an eye on Jun Tao. She's gone missing!

You're not to be blamed.

I know Jun Tao. I should have expected this to happen.

She has gone to carry out a task that I longed to do but couldn't.

Actually, this...

The imperial decree is here!

"Li Wei Young is actually the princess of Northern Liang."

"She took this name to sneak into Great Wei."

"She deceived the emperor to seek vengeance."

"I had spared her life out of benevolence."

"However, Li Wei Young chose to disappoint me."

"She instructed her subject, Jun Tao, to assassinate Lord Protector, Chiyun Nan."

"It pains me to learn of such news."

"Li Wei Young is not to be pardoned for her sins."

"Is three days, she is to be executed at noon."

"By the emperor himself."

Master Central Attendant.

Jun Tao... What happened to Jun Tao?

Jun Tao is dead.

His Majesty... he should understand!

Wei Young is already in the Imperial Dungeon.

How is could she have instructed her subject?

- Central Attendant, please... - It's none of my concern.

If His Majesty hadn't promised at the hunting grounds that day

to spare the Li family of any crimes committed by Li Wei Young

you would also be executed in three days.

Just worry about yourself.

Master Central Attendant!

Forget it, Min De.

Forget it?

You're going to be executed!

Chiyun Nan is dead.

I have had my revenge.

I can die without regret.

You...

It's just that Jun Tao...

I found this at the place where Chiyun Nan was killed.

Jun Tao...

Jun Tao...

Min De, search for Jun Tao.

She can't be dead.

She surely can't be dead.

Don't worry. Wherever she might be I won't rest until I find her.

Wei Young, I don't know if I should ask you this question...

You...

Are you really the princess of Northern Liang?

I am.

I'm sorry.

I've kept it from you all this time.

I was burdened with my family vengeance, so I couldn't tell anyone the truth.

It's all right. Don't say another word.

I won't let you die.

Min De.

His Majesty will never tolerate me.

Don't sacrifice your life because of me.

That's enough!

I told you that I won't let you die!

Just wait and see.

Min De! Min De!

Stop! You can't enter!

You can't enter without the prince's permission!

- Your Highness! - Get lost!

He came barging in and we couldn't hold him back!

If Wei Young didn't like you, I would have had your neck snapped!

Why would Wei Young fall for a heartless soul like you?

Let go of me.

Did you know that His Majesty will have Wei Young executed in three days?

Wei Young poured out her heart to you.

Is that what she gets in return?

Tuoba Jun!

You're now the only one who can save Wei Young.

Will you really let Wei Young die for nothing?

What are you thinking?

- What are you thinking? - For nothing?

Li Min De.

What on earth are you doing here?

Do you know that she killed

Crown Princess Consort and my cousin?

Shouldn't she be killed for that?

Wei Young didn't murder Crown Princess Consort!

Can you prove that?

I..

Tuoba Jun, do you not know what Wei Young is like?

You have known her for so long.

Ask yourself.

Could she really have killed Crown Princess Consort?

Is that what you really think?

My mother was killed!

My most beloved woman was accused of killing her!

My heart has now been hollowed out...

I only have one question for you.

If Wei Young is killed...

Will you really not regret it, Your Highness?

- Your Highness! - Your Highness!

Li Min De!

When will you stop defending Li Wei Young?

What exactly is your motive?

You tried every means to kill Wei Young.

What exactly is your motive?

Your sinned subject failed to discover the true identity of my daughter.

I should die to atone for my sins.

Your Highness!

Your Highness!

Jun, where are your manners?

Chiyun Nan deserved to die for deceiving Your Majesty.

Jun Tao was the one who killed him.

Li Wei Young took the blame for her!

Li Wei Young killed your mother.

Are you still going to plead for her?

I was too caught up in my emotions because of Mother's death.

I didn't have the time to ponder over some details.

But deep down, I knew that Li Wei Young couldn't have done it.

The murderer must be someone else.

Grandfather, please allow me some time to get to the bottom of this case

- so as not to take an innocent life! - That's not necessary!

Even if Li Wei Young can be proven innocent

she still snuck into Great Wei under a false identity.

That is still a capital offense and she deserves to die for it!

I have already delivered my verdict.

- Nothing more is to be said. - Grandfather...

You can't turn a blind eye to the truth!

How dare you?

Who are you to talk to me like this?

Do not forget who you are!

If I could get rid of your father then I can do the same to you!

Please reconsider your decision, Grandfather.

Your sinned subject failed to discover the truth.

I should die to atone for my sins.

Prime Minister Li served in two reigns.

He is still kneeling out there to repent for his sins.

He wouldn't dare get up unless I tell him to do so!

Why is that?

That's because I'm the supreme ruler of the world!

My every word is an infallible law!

If I say that Li Wei Young is guilty, then she is guilty!

Anyone who questions me is against me and the imperial authority!

Don't cross the line.

Step back!

- Zong Ai. - Present.

Convey my decree.

Anyone who pleads for Li Wei Young will be punished for the same crime.

Yes.

[Prime Minister's Manor]

Who would have known?

Li Wei Young is actually the princess of Northern Liang?

I knew that there was more to her than meets the eye.

How could a countryside girl look so beautiful

and have the gift of gab?

Someone did regard her as her own daughter...

Even if she is some princess of Northern Liang, she is still my child.

In my mind, she is my daughter, Wei Young.

Now what?

The truth is finally out.

His Majesty is going to behead her.

We'll see if she can still put on airs in front of me.

I finally get revenge for what I suffered in the past.

Chang Xi!

Wei Young has been your cousin for such a long time.

How can you say that?

She is no cousin of mine!

She is a traitor!

I won't allow you to call her that!

- I will call her that! - You...

That's enough.

All of you, shut your mouths.

I'm tired.

You should all leave now.

- Yes. - Yes.

Seventh Concubine, let's go.

Wei Young...

My granddaughter...

Grandmother...

Father...

I will be there soon to accompany you.

It's just that... It's just that...

I will carry this pebble with me at all times.

Whenever I miss you I will take it out.

When I look at it it will be as if I'm looking at you.

Tuoba Jun...

Can you stop hating me?

I don't want to die with you hating me.

I want to see you one last time.

I want to say to you once again...

I'm sorry that you met me. I'm sorry that I brought you pain.

[Jun]

[Jun]

Tuoba Jun.

I'll be dead soon.

Will you still not believe me?

It's all right.

I owe you too much.

We can never be together.

You might as well just hate me.
