[The Princess Weiyoung]

[Episode 24]

Cui Er.

Have you already packed the new riding outfits

I made for Wei Young?

Three altogether. You worked day and night on them.

How could I forget to pack them?

Don't worry. I put them all in there.

It's not just that.

Pack more regular outfits as well.

- Yes. - Don't worry.

Everything has been prepared.

There are enough outfits for Young Mistress to change daily.

Pack her some desserts for the journey.

There are plenty.

Second Young Master got her a huge bag full of snacks.

You are very skilled.

During the hunt, please do stay more alert

so that Second Young Mistress doesn't get hurt.

There's no need for that. I'll take care of Young Mistress.

Jun Tao.

My mother got this for you.

Just take it.

Thank you, lady heroine.

I'm no lady heroine. It's just Jun Tao.

Seventh Concubine.

Jun Tao might seem a bit scary, but she's a very nice person.

You don't have to be scared of her.

Scary?

She's not scary. Not at all.

Jun Tao is actually quite pretty and very gentle.

Is it a compliment?

Yes.

Mother.

Are those Liang civilians buried?

Yes.

They were all buried according to the standard of our people.

Sadly, in the end I still didn't manage to save them.

Your Highness. You already did your best.

There's too much on my mind these days.

Your Highness.

Why don't I tell you something that will cheer you up?

Is there anything that can cheer me up?

Lady of District Anping will join the hunt.

How about that?

Wei Young will be joining the hunt?

Yes. I went to Prime Minister's Manor just for that information.

What about Li Min De?

Will Li Min De come along?

Your...

Why should it concern you whether Imperial Guard Li comes along?

Why are you so concerned about him?

When am I concerned about him?

You know that he's an imperial guard.

I was just wondering if he would attend as a guard.

I'm worried about security on the hunting grounds!

There are so many guards in the palace

but why did you only ask after Imperial Guard Li?

It's because...

I asked you a question!

Why didn't you answer me?

You want to lose your head?

Imperial Guard Li is going.

I told you not to tell her and then you just did.

Whom do you actually serve?

What is this about?

Why am I always the one getting hurt?

[Jinggong Gate]

Father!

Father!

Father!

Father...

I've told you so many times.

Stay calm and reserved.

Look at you.

Do you seem like a princess?

It's because Father dotes on me, so I get to be who I really am.

You're just so good at coaxing me.

Go ahead.

What is it you want this time?

When did I coax Father?

I meant every word.

Father, let me join you on this hunting trip.

No.

What are the hunting grounds like?

Wild beasts, swords, and arrows.

Any of those could easily take your life.

It's too dangerous.

Why would a girl be in such a place?

Aren't there other girls attending as well?

Why do they get to join you but I can't?

As a princess, how are you anything like them?

Father, please?

All right, stop fooling around.

Get going now.

Father conquered far and wide to unite the north.

You're so heroic and valiant.

I'm your daughter.

I'm also of Xian Bei descent.

Why would Father insist on making me timid and cowardly?

I refuse to give in to it!

I'm not against having you become a valiant daughter of the Xian Bei tribe.

If you wish to join the hunt, you may.

However, if you get injured or frightened

you're not to cry and whine to me.

Thank you, Father!

I'm a brave Xian Bei tribesman.

How could I be that weak?

Father, I'll take my leave now.

Here, here!

Let's have a drink!

Here!

My dear subjects, you have all worked very hard

in assisting me with state affairs.

From tomorrow onward is a full two-day hunting trip.

I hope that all of you can make use of this trip to have some fun.

Your Majesty.

Is there a prize at the end of this hunting trip?

Of course!

Whoever brings back the most prey will get to make a request of me.

Any request will do.

I hope that everyone can make good use of this opportunity.

Young Mistress.

No one is allowed near His Majesty unless summoned.

All trespassers are to be killed.

Li Wei Young?

Greetings to Your Highness.

Why are you leaving so soon?

Do you dislike seeing me that much?

You're too sensitive, Your Highness.

I just don't wish to disturb you.

What if I say that I don't mind?

I thought that Your Highness would have caught my hint.

I wouldn't dare bother you.

I'll take my leave now.

Do you know what is the most interesting thing about this trip?

Whoever catches the most prey gets to ask Father for a request.

Make a guess.

What would I ask him for?

Why don't I ask Father to bestow marriage to us?

How would you know that you will win the game?

I always get what I want.

I wonder if you will still behave so obstinately before my father.

What does he mean by that?

Princes of Wei are so shameless.

He's a very crafty person.

I wonder what he is really up to.

We had better stay cautious.

Li Min De, wait up!

I'm talking to you! Did you hear me?

Don't touch me!

Li Min De.

You went back on your word.

Didn't you promise not to avoid me?

Is it so hard on you to have to keep me company?

If you keep doing this, I'll have to teach you a lesson!

Fine.

Show me the imperial decree then.

What imperial decree?

I'm His Majesty's imperial guard.

If you want me to accompany you, you have to have an imperial decree.

If not, pardon me for being rude.

Li Min De, you...

I command you to stop right there!

Hey! You...

I didn't expect the imperial hunting grounds to be so big.

I can't even see the far end of the grounds.

Don't make such a fuss.

All in all

this is the first time we have met since you returned to the manor.

I'm truly happy for you that

you can be back in Prime Minister's Manor.

Are you?

While I was away

you were the most popular Third Young Mistress of Li Manor.

Once I got home

you became the Li Chang Ru no one is interested in again.

You hoped that I would never return.

Why would you say so?

I've been looking forward to having you home.

By the way

His Majesty made an exception in inviting the officials' family members along.

All the officials have brought some very select family members.

You're quite well informed.

I heard it from my mother.

You must be so pleased

since Second Aunt started running the household.

What is there to be pleased about?

Ever since she took over the household, she's been so busy all the time.

You have no idea how bad I feel for her.

I just wish that Aunt Rou could get better soon.

Then it would be easier for my mother.

As if.

Have you heard?

Didn't Li Chang Le disappear for some time?

She actually tried to kill her father.

Prime Minister sent her away to the countryside.

If General Chiyun hadn't gotten her, she might never have make it back.

Exactly.

Look at how graceful she pretended to be, but she's actually an immoral person.

What nonsense is this?

This isn't nonsense at all.

Everyone knows that you tried to kill your father.

Exactly!

Let's go.

Who spread such a rumor behind my back?

Are you all right, Chang Le?

Stop pretending to be nice.

Don't you all want me dead?

Why would you say that about me?

How could I possibly harm you?

No...

It wasn't you.

You don't have it in you to do so.

Miss Chang Le.

Crown Princess Consort invites you over.

Her Highness?

Please lead the way.

Young Mistress is so smart.

This not only ruins Miss Chang Le's reputation

but also aggravates the animosity between her and Miss Wei Young.

I'd like to see if Crown Princess Consort would still want a daughter-in-law

who tried to kill her own father.

Greetings to Prince of Nan-An.

Do rise.

Third Young Mistress is very witty and resourceful.

I'm very impressed.

If Li Chang Le truly did attempt to kill her father

I would never let Jun marry such a woman

no matter how influential the Chiyun family is.

It will ruin Jun's happiness.

Your Highness, Miss Chang Le is here.

Let her in quickly.

Greetings to Your Highness.

Don't stand on ceremony.

I haven't seen you for quite some time.

Come here and let me take a good look at you.

You seem to have lost a lot of weight and you don't look too well.

Have you been unwell lately?

Your Highness, my mother was ill some time ago

so in order to pray for her recovery

I went and lived in an abbey for a while.

Pray for her recovery?

Why is it different from what I've heard?

What has Your Highness heard?

I heard that you disrespected your father and attempted to kill him.

Prime Minister Li had you sent to the countryside.

Li Chang Le.

You'd better be honest with me.

If you dare to deceive me, I won't spare you easily.

Your Highness, I wonder who would slander me so.

I might not be the most well educated

but I learned the teachings of the saints.

How could I possibly do anything that immoral?

Instead of being falsely accused of such a sin

I... I'd rather die!

Have you really been staying at the abbey to pray for your mother?

If Your Highness doesn't believe me, you can send someone to investigate it.

If I told even one lie, I'll be struck down by lightning.

I was just asking.

Why would you make such a solemn vow?

Qiu Yi.

- Help Chang Le up. - Yes.

Miss Chang Le.

By the way, you just mentioned your mother's condition.

Is she much better now?

It's all my fault.

I am to be blamed for my mother's illness.

What do you mean?

Ever since my sister Wei Young was appointed Lady of District Anping

she has behaved impertinently.

My mother wanted to discipline her

but she said that my mother isn't her birth mother.

I was angry, so I had an argument with her.

She has a maid who is skilled in martial arts and attacked me.

During the conflict, I accidentally knocked into my father.

Could it be...

Perhaps the rumor of me attempting to kill my father came from that?

I am truly wronged.

It was also my fault.

I shouldn't have argued with her.

If so, my mother wouldn't be worried about me.

Li Wei Young...

Could she have spread the rumor that you tried to kill your father?

She couldn't have done so.

We might have a few conflicts, but we are sisters after all.

She won't harm me.

You're still speaking up for her after all that had happened?

You must have had a hard time.

Why did you still join the hunting trip?

You should get some rest at home.

My cousin has returned, so I came here with him.

The cousin you speak of...

Is it General Chiyun Nan?

Exactly.

Upon his return, my cousin kept complimenting Prince of Gaoyang

for his compassion and kindness.

He surely took after his father.

Did General Chiyun really say so?

I wouldn't dare deceive Your Highness.

I'm tired.

You are dismissed.

I'll take my leave.

Qiu Yi.

What do you think about this matter?

I think that the attempted murder might just be a misunderstanding.

Should I have it investigated?

It's fine.

Since she dared to swear so solemnly, I believe that she didn't lie.

Chang Le is the prime minister's first daughter

and has always been pampered.

She couldn't possibly do such a thing.

I think she must have been set up by someone crafty.

Li Wei Young...

Li Chang Ru.

How dare you!

You dared to spread such a rumor to deceive Crown Princess Consort?

Do you expect me not to expose your actions?

I don't need to ask that of Your Highness.

It's because I believe that you will keep it a secret for my sake.

It's because...

It's because Your Highness understands

that what I did also helped Your Highness in a way.

Helped me?

If Crown Princess Consort is to join forces with the Chiyun family

it will just add another advantage to the already favored Prince of Gaoyang.

Then...

Would Your Highness still have a chance at what you truly desire?

Do you know what I truly desire?

Your Highness is extremely smart.

You had every step planned.

Whatever it is that you desire

you have your reasons for seeking it.

I have long known that

Your Highness is the most capable among all the princes.

Only Your Highness is worthy of that supreme position.

I swear to serve Your Highness with my life.

Does Your Highness still remember the story

I told you about the strangler fig?

In fact, I'm just like Your Highness.

I've always lived in the shadows of others.

If I am to attain any success, there's only one way to do so.

I have to replace them.

Your Highness.

You and I are both like the strangler fig.

I'm willing to pledge my life and allegiance to Your Highness.

Everyone thinks Li Wei Young is the intelligent one

but ever since I ran into you at Qingfeng Abbey

I knew that

you're not any lesser in wit than Li Wei Young.

However, I have now realized that I still did underestimate you.

Miss Chang Ru...

You played the game best by concealing your true colors

for the past 10 years.

You had everyone fooled.

Such tolerance...

It is of no ordinary feat.

I know what Chiyun Rou is like.

If I allowed myself to stand out even just a bit

she would surely have me bullied mercilessly.

In order to protect myself, I allowed my enemies to belittle me.

When someone who has always been undermined strikes back

the opponent will be caught off guard.

You just read my mind.

I was just babbling.

Your Highness must find me absurd.

I like it very much.

Miss Li!

- Greetings to Your Highness. - Get up quickly.

It's been a few months and you've languished quite a lot.

Have you had a hard time?

Who else could it be?

Your Highness.

Li Wei Young has been bullying my mistress.

You must stand up for her.

Li Wei Young again?

I find her really annoying.

However, if I really teach her a lesson for Miss Chang Le

how do you intend to repay me?

I'll surely remember your graciousness forever.

Miss Chang Le, I've admired you for a long time.

How about this? Once the hunting trip is over

I'll ask Prime Minister Li for your hand in marriage.

This is...

What about it?

You're not willing?

It isn't so, Your Highness.

Your Highness is of a prestigious identity.

I wouldn't dare presume to marry you.

Please forgive me.

I'll take my leave now.

You dare to turn me down?

But I like that.

Once I ask Prime Minister for your hand

I'll see how you could still reject me.

Your Highness, I think that Li Chang Ru is a better match

for you than Her Ladyship.

We can never have enough pawns.

Li Chang Ru might be somewhat witty

but she isn't quite up to scratch yet.

Whatever and whoever I have decided on won't change that easily.

But doesn't Your Highness already doubt Her Ladyship's identity?

If someone like her...

If she is willing to work for me

who cares if everyone else is against her?

As long as she's sensible and tactful, I'll treat her well.

If not...

Wei Young!

It's so pretty on you.

Your Highness, what are you doing?

Should anyone see us, there will be more gossip again.

I should get going now.

Why are you in such a rush to leave?

It's very dangerous on the hunting grounds.

Be sure not to wander off.

I'm not some spoiled and pampered lady.

I know that you're very capable, but you should still be cautious.

All right.

Why are you so gentle today?

I'm not used to it.

All right, I have to go now.

By the way...

It's dangerous around weapons.

Your Highness should be more cautious.

Wei Young!

I know that you actually do have me on your mind.

Jun Tao.

Father.

The princess didn't suspect anything?

Her Highness didn't notice that you followed us here.

I'm just worried that

Her Highness will take the report to the emperor

to expose Chiyun Nan's crimes.

That is one perilous mission.

Should she make a wrong move, she could get herself killed.

Her Highness is too kind to implicate us.

How could we let Her Highness take such a risk alone?

I'll try to get close to the emperor of Wei during the trip.

As for you, you have to keep an eye on the princess.

You mustn't let her take any action without us knowing.

As the princess of Great Liang

I will have Great Liang rectified.

I want thousands of my people to be freed from the misery of enslavement.

Young Mistress! Young Mistress!

Young Mistress!

Crown Prince Manor has sent someone over.

Your Ladyship.

Crown Princess Consort would like to see you.

Greetings to Your Highness.

Do rise.

Thank you, Your Highness.

I've always thought that since you could come up with

such a detailed and well thought out plan to relieve a disaster

you couldn't be much of a poor character.

However, little did I know that I was wrong about you.

Why would Your Highness say so?

According to what I know, you're an illegitimate daughter.

Your mother was once a footbath maid.

Am I right?

Yes.

You must have made quite an effort to get to where you are now.

This actually does not concern me at all.

However, when I learned that

Jun has also become part of your plan to move up the ranks

I couldn't possibly sit on the sidelines.

Do you understand what I mean?

Your Highness has misunderstood me.

I...

I'm not in a relationship with His Highness.

His Highness is kind and compassionate.

He once saved my life in a dangerous time.

I...

I'm only grateful to His Highness.

That is all.

That is all?

Then why would Jun still keep you on his mind?

Don't tell me that it is just his own wishful thinking.

Your Highness, please understand that I'm aware of my status and identity.

I'm not the right match for His Highness.

Therefore I never thought of reaching for someone of his status.

It's just that His Highness has saved me many times.

I'm deeply grateful to His Highness.

How could I possibly get His Highness into any trouble?

In terms of this matter, please believe me, Your Highness.

You're a smart girl.

You should know that you could never be Jun's consort.

I've never once thought of that.

If you dare to deceive me, I won't let you off.

Young Mistress.

- Are you all right? - I'm fine.

Wei Young? What are you doing here?

You're here to see my mother?

What did she say to you?

Her Highness was just chatting with me.

I'll take my leave now.

Wei Young!

She was all right until just now.

Could it be...

Mother! What did you say to Wei Young?

You already know about it?

Mother.

Wei Young didn't do a thing.

She made you behave unlike your old self.

That is what she did wrong.

- Mother. - Enough!

Whatever you say won't change my mind at all.

It will just make me dislike her all the more.

Are you certain?

General.

That's the Liang slave who got away a few days ago.

I couldn't be mistaken.

Also, he's met with Lady of District Anping's bodyguard in secret.

Lady of District Anping's bodyguard?

- Yes. - Did you overhear their conversation?

I didn't dare to get too close to them.

I only heard them mention the word "Princess."

Princess?

General, should I...

No.

Let's sit and wait for the bigger fish to take the bait.

Yes.

Wei Young. I heard that you're going hunting as well.

It's too dangerous. It's best for you not to join in.

I want to win the game and make a request of His Majesty.

You also have a request to make of Grandfather?

What are you going to ask him for?

Wei Young!

Wei Young.

Whatever it is that you wish to ask of my grandfather

I will do my best to help you fulfill it.

May the hunting begin!

- Charge! - Charge!

Your Ladyship is very good at archery.

My skills are nothing compared to those of Your Highness.

Watch out!

I just saved your life.

It's dangerous out here.

Your Ladyship should be careful.

Young Mistress!

You should let me find you easily.

It's too dangerous. I'll escort you out of here.

Jun Tao, don't hinder me.

What are you up to?

Just tell me and I'll surely help you.

You can't help me with this matter.

Go! Go!

Young Mistress!

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Here are the arrows you asked for.

Your Highness.

Why do you always do such despicable deeds?

Is this despicable?

You brought these here.

Your Highness! Your Highness, wait up!

Miss Chang Le?

What are you doing here?

Are you all right?

I'm sorry. I was careless.

It's dangerous in here.

Miss Chang Le should leave right away.

Your Highness.

I can't get up.

Your Highness.

Could you give me a ride?

Your Highness is so skilled in archery.

You must have hunted plenty of prey.

Your Highness.

I'd like to return to the campsite.

Wei Young!

- Your Highness! - Cheng De, escort Miss Li back!

Your Highness!

Your Highness...

Your Highness.

Where are you going, Your Highness?

Are you going to look for Li Wei Young?

Please don't leave me here, Your Highness.

I already have someone else on my mind.

Never will I be able to reciprocate your affections.

What is the point in persisting so willfully?

Is it Li Wei Young?

Leave Wei Young out of this.

That is all I have to say.

I hope that you will understand.

How outrageous.

Your Highness!

Your Highness.

Don't lose your cool.

I know that Li Wei Young means the world to you

but how does she feel about Your Highness?

Does she care more for you than I do?

Show yourself some respect.

Miss Li, I'll escort you back.

Wei Young!

Hear me out!

There's nothing between me and Li Chang Le.

Prince of Gaoyang, why bother telling me that?

Please don't disturb me from hunting.

No, I nearly shot her so I agreed to escort her back to the campsite.

Please don't misunderstand me.

Why should anything you did with her concern me at all?

Please don't bother me!

I'm still far from winning the game.

But you're obviously mad at me.

I'm not.

- Let go of me. - I won't!

Why didn't you dodge?

Are you still mad at me?

Your Highness.

It's considered cheating to prevent others from shooting.

His Majesty is already tired.

Who had the most prey today?

Your Majesty, it's Prince of Nan-An.

We shall see how tomorrow turns out.

- Young Mistress. - Young Mistress, you've returned.

Why is a quiver of arrows missing?

The two of you are to step out and watch at the door.

Yes.

Bai Zhi, I need to head out. I'll be right back.

Jun Tao.

Father.

How is it going? Did Her Highness behave differently?

Not at the moment.

That can't be right...

Her Highness will surely take action.

Should anything go wrong, the princess will be in danger.

But she has already made up her mind.

We couldn't possibly hold her back.

Her Highness wishes to get rid of Chiyun Nan.

Once we kill Chiyun Nan, she won't act recklessly again.

But Chiyun Nan is highly skilled in martial arts

and protected by powerful guards.

It is no easy feat for us to kill him.

Jun Tao.

Head back now or the princess will suspect you.

Remember.

Whatever the sacrifice, we have to protect the princess.

I recognize you.

You're the Liang slave who got away from the mine.

I didn't go looking for you, but here you come seeking your own doom.

Today, I'll have you killed!

You still won't admit it?

You're indeed the secret bodyguard of Northern Liang's royal family.

Speak up!

Do you have Governor Ma's report with you?

What brings you here?

Are you conspiring with members of Northern Liang's royal family?

Why did you meet with Lady of District Anping's bodyguard?

What is the relationship between you and Lady of District Anping?

Even if you won't talk

I know that since the princess of Northern Liang has fled

as the royal family's bodyguard

you must be looking for your mistress.

You met with Lady of District Anping's bodyguard

because you have already found your mistress.

It seems that I was right.

My aunt was right after all.

Lady of District Anping isn't who she really is.

Her true identity is the princess of Northern Liang!

Speak up!

Does Li Wei Young have the report?

It's fine if you won't talk.

Hit him.

Hit him until he talks.

Let's see how long he can hold out.

Yes!

If Li Wei Young has the report

she will surely take action here at the hunting grounds.

Keep a close watch on Li Wei Young.

Inform me should she act suspiciously!

Yes.
