Professor Luan,

Xiaoyu said that

you shouldn’t read newspaper for long.

I’m here to check on you.

Alright.

Here.

Have a cup of tea.

Don’t be angry.

Thanks.

Wenjing.

Do you think that it’s kind of

intense between me and my son?

I think that Tianming is too stubborn.

This is pretty normal in our family.

Normal?

Between us, it has

been like this for long.

Ever since his mom passed away,

he’s become

more solitary.

Plus, Xiaoyu came here.

As father,

I can understand there may

be some mild changes in his mind.

I’m busy with work.

I haven’t paid much attention

on him since young.

This is my fault

as his father.

Professor Luan.

Was he like this as a child?

No, he wasn’t.

He was very cute at that time.

He looked cute, very adorable.

His grades were good.

My boy is very clever.

He learned fast.

He liked flying kites,

even won an award at school.

Really?

Don’t mention it.

Though he won,

he got mad at me.

I was supposed to take him there,

but a call came in the middle

informing that I need to attend a conference.

So I asked him to go alone.

Though he won,

he was mad.

His temper was so, so bad that day.

I went afterwards and took a photo of him.

His mouth went like this.

Liangkun .

Drink that water on the table.

It’s no regular water.

Your dad asked me to bring it for you.

It’s good for your health.

And, the broccoli.

Eat more of them.

It’s anti-cancer.

Wait, wait.

Get me a cup…

Is it really that bad?

It tastes bad.

You drink it. Go ahead.

Drink it though it’s bad.

It’s good for you, you kid.

What do you want? A plate, right?

Yeah.

Wash it.

Okay.

Let me tell you

why broccoli is anti-cancer.

Look at the shape.

That’s what cancer cell looks like.

Okay.

It’s like you eat it,

and the cancer cell would disappear.

So should I have some of the

human-shaped Polygonum multiflorums?

Maybe I can get taller.

Well, I do regret that

I didn’t make you eat them.

Look at the time.

Why isn’t Liu Wenjing back?

Maybe she got busy at work.

Work?

Listen. Today when I was checking the apartment,

I saw her.

She carried a bag of vegetables

and went into a house.

Are you sure it was her?

Pretty sure.

She wore a black suit when

she left in the morning, right?

How is it possible?

Maybe it’s a business thing.

An activity or something.

Save it.

Why’d she bring vegetables for it?

You’re just silly.

Keep notice, okay?

Your girlfriend is pretty

and wealthy.

Watch out she may cheat on you.

That’s impossible.

Wenjing is reliable.

I’ve warned you.

Ask her about it when she’s home.

Okay, okay.

Wenjing is back.

Give it to me.

Madam. Have you washed the vegetables?

Take a rest.

I’ll cook later.

It’s okay. I got it.

I bought your mom a scarf.

Give it to her then.

Aunt, I bought you a present.

See if you like it.

For me?

-It’s very nice of her. -You see.

Isn’t Wenjing a nice girl?

Her parents taught her well.

You didn’t need to spend this money.

Just feel the texture.

It may cost around one or two hundred.

Mom.

It’s a gift. Why would you talk about the price?

Okay, okay.

Go ahead and cook.

Thank you.

It’s alright.

My mom is good at duplicity.

She’s actually very glad.

I’ll change shoes and help her with cooking.

Hello?

Is this Tongda Commercial Company?

I’m looking for Liu Wenjing.

I’m sorry.

We don’t have her here.

No way.

Can you double check?

She should be working at the front desk

for about two months.

Sorry, I’m sure she doesn’t work here.

Is there anything else?

That’s all. Thanks.

Xi.

Should we just bear it all like this?

Luckily I paid extra attentions.

Be careful yourself, too.

Don’t be too close with him.

A few days ago, Ms. Xu’s assistant complained

about if she didn’t go out with him,

he wouldn’t approve office automation.

Really?

Do you remember?

She’s the intern who came with Ms. Xu last time.

The one…

Yeah, that one...

Go ahead. What’s up?

I saw someone flying

kite at the square today.

So I bought one.

Can you teach me how to fly?

Do you think that I have time?

But you don’t have a job.

Please, Professor.

I’ve bought it.

It cost me 38 yuan.

I’ve only seen people

flying kite on TV.

I really want to know

what it feels like to fly it to the sky.

So you agree?

It’s up.

Watch out for the cars.

Slow down. Don’t trip.

Wow, it’s flying high.

You’re good.

Professor Luan, here.

Coming.

Can you explain why he’s here?

I invited him.

Here, let me try.

Higher.

I saw a kite at Professor’s home.

So I called him here.

He likes flying it, too.

Then why didn’t you just ask him to teach you?

Why asked me?

Professor.

What are you doing?

Stay with us.

Watch your steps.

-Wenjing. -Slow down, slow down.

Xing Tianming.

I got it. I got it.

Wenjing, here, it’s okay.

Stretch more of the line.

Let’s do it ourselves.

Slower, slow down.

Don’t take it personally, I knew it would happen.

Okay, let him go.

He’s just like this.

What do you think? I’m good, right?

I haven’t played for years.

Two cups of latte, please.

Okay, wait a second,

Why didn’t they report this?

Do you need to ask?

To avoid causing drama.

They can’t let too many people know.

Wei, you live in a different environment.

That’s why you’re surprised about it.

You’ve been feeling down lately.

I broke up, for real.

When was it?

I’ve been busy.

I haven’t communicated with you well.

He stopped harassing you, right?

Now I turn off my phone after work.

Then go back to my parents’.

It’s no big deal.

You should move soon.

Move?

Moving isn’t easy.

I need time to look for apartment,

also for packing up.

I don’t have enough for

paying four months of rent in advance.

I need to sublet the old one, too.

It’s a trouble, too.

You never experienced this.

So you have no idea

that not everyone

can have

superior conditions like you do.

Lattes are ready.

Thank you.

Alright, stop hesitating.

Come and live with me.

Give me a break, okay?

I’ll keep looking.

Xing Tianming, what are you doing?

Today’s your dad’s birthday.

How can you argue with him like that?

It’s not your business.

I saw someone flying

kite at the square today.

So I bought one.

Can you teach me how to fly?

Why did you do this?

Do you care about me?

Or you are trying to ease the things

between me and my dad?

Wenjing, hurry. You’re about to be late.

I’m coming, coming.

-Let’s go. -Let’s go.

How’s work recently?

Good, why are you asking?

Well, my mom said

that she saw you at a community yesterday.

Why were you there?

I delivered something for colleague.

Let’s go. Don’t be late.

Yesterday, the producer

reached me by phone.

What were you doing?

I...

Don’t you know we’re promoting?

Besides,

even my phone

is always on all the time.

But you have a schedule?

Fine, I’ll take all your calls then.

Maybe someone else can take your place, too.

I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.

Get out. Get out.

Hey, where are you?

I happen to want to see you.

Baby.

-Don’t come here. -What are you doing here?

I saw you last night.

Listen to me…

Shut up.

No, you need to let me explain.

When do you plan to stop lying?

Do I look gullible? Do I look stupid?

Li Zhe, I finally understand.

I know why we’ve been together for so long,

but I was never invited to your home,

never introduced to your friends.

You never tell me about your life.

You never step into

my life circle, either.

I can always sense it.

But I was on a crazy romantic whim

that I even lost my mind, you know?

Hua Hua, you gotta understand me.

I’ve got my reasons.

But you need to believe

that I love you.

Aren’t you ridiculous?

Things have gone this far and you’re still lying.

If you can say at least one genuine idea of yours,

I’d still have respect for you.

But you’re still deceiving me.

You’re still lying.

I despise you.

Each of your words that you said

used to make my heart beat.

But now, they just

make me feel really sick.

You lied to your wife.

You lied to me.

You lied to other girls.

All lies.

Does lying make you feel

really satisfied?

Does it make you feel

that you’re so perfect?

Cut off the lies.

Save your so-called sincerity

to next girl.

Don’t do anything silly!

You thought I’d die for you?

You’re just overrating yourself.

What’s wrong?

I asked Liu Wenjing this morning.

And?

She didn’t tell me the truth.

Do you believe her?

Of course, I do.

But she didn’t have to lie.

In a relationship,

there’s only a hundred percent of trust.

It can’t be ninety nine percent.

So if you trust her,

don’t over think about it.

No,

I think that

when two are together,

you should at least be honest.

You should at least tell

me your current job, right?

You... You...

Maybe you can ask for me?

This is between you two.

It’s not for me to meddle in.

What should I do now?

Don’t worry.

The Liu Wenjing we know

is just like this ice cube.

Very pure and simple.

There aren’t

weird ideas in her mind.

I can assure that none of your

worries would come true.

Stop thinking about it.

How’s she going with your mom?

It’s fine.

Wenjing bought my mom a scarf that day.

My mom was happy.

They are not that against each other now.

Isn’t it good?

What are you thinking?

Cheers.

(Mother Calling)

Mom, what’s up?

Son.

I’ve told you already

that there’s something wrong with Liu Wenjing.

You just wouldn’t believe me.

I’ve been stalking her all day.

I’m in the community she got in.

You know what?

Wait,

I’ll knock on each door

and catch her.

Wait for me.

No, Mom.

You...

Wait, Mom.

Don’t fool around.

Liu Wenjing isn’t that kind of girl.

Tell me where you are.

I’m coming for you.

Hello, Mom?

Mom?

Mom, talk to me.

Mom.

She’s just causing trouble.

What happened?

My mom stalked Liu Wenjing

into the community she saw her that day.

She’s making it complicated.

Hang up and come with me.

Come on.

Wait, to where?

Professor Luan.

I’ll come back after throwing out the trash downstairs.

Okay.

Aunt?

Liu Wenjing.

It’s too sudden, right?

What a surprise.

Aunt.

-Aunt. -Nice house.

Aunt.

I...

It’s huge.

He’s richer than my son.

Sorry, Aunt. I shouldn’t have lied.

Let me check it out.

There’s a man here?

No, no, Aunt.

I see.

So you come here everyday for him, right?

Nice. Impressive.

No.

-Wenjing, what’s going on here? -Explain it.

Professor Luan, I’m sorry.

Aunt,

let me explain.

Explain what?

No need for that.

Madam, may I know who you are?

Who am I? She can tell you.

Go away.

Old man, listen to me.

You will lose your house

and your money

that you can’t even take care of yourself.

Madam.

I advise you to speak wisely.

You are lawfully responsible for your words.

Lawfully responsible?

Ask who she is.

She’s my son’s girlfriend.

I came to Shanghai

to buy their wedding house.

Liu Wenjing, you are good.

I’ve been stalking you for days.

I’ve searched the plot everywhere.

I knocked on each of the residents.

Finally, I caught you here.

-You can’t deny... -Madam.

Aunt, you misunderstood me.

Calm down first. Take a seat.

Please, take a seat.

Misunderstood?

Please, sit down.

Let’s talk it out.

Please, take a seat.

Sit, please.

Well,

since you’ve started it,

let’s make it clear.

Truth needs to be discussed.

Listen to her. You can stop.

Wenjing, can you explain?

Yeah, explain.

I’m sorry.

I shouldn’t have lied.

My family doesn’t run business.

I come from countryside of Jiangxi.

I’m not a college student, either.

Listen, listen to that.

I knew you are questionable.

Well, keep going.

Calm down first.

I’m here in the house because...

Wenjing.

Liangkun !

Mom.

Look at your girlfriend.

Figure out who she is.

I knew she’s very questionable.

You just wouldn’t believe me.

Look at this old man.

Sir.

Turn around.

Mr. Luan.

Mr. Luan...?

What’s going on?

Aunt, that’s my father.

Liu Wenjing has been working

as nanny for a while.

As...

As nanny?

Mouse, sorry.

She… She’s a nanny?

For a while?

So you knew

that she works here all the time?

Son.

She’s your girlfriend.

They teamed up and lied to you.

Impressive.

Liu Wenjing.

I didn’t know you buried this deep.

A girl from the countryside

really knows how to play tricks.

The old and the young helped you together.

What trick did you play?

What did Mouse do to upset you?

Did he mistreat you?

We’ve worked so hard

to buy a wedding house for you two in Shanghai.

Now, what we’ve got is a liar.

How cruel are you?

Seems like we can’t stay here.

Fine.

My poor son.

Let’s go home.

Go home.

Go home!

-Aunt. -Mom!

-Madam. -Aunt.

-Aunt. -Aunt.

Mouse, sorry.

Mouse.

Go back first.

I’d like to be alone.

Just go.

Professor.

I can’t go.

I need to go back to him.

What can you say to him now?

Let him calm down.

It’s all my fault.

If it weren’t for me,

things wouldn’t be like this.

Sorry.

I don’t know what to do now.

I’ll send you back first.

Let’s go.

Liu Wenjing,

drink some water now.

Don’t be too sad.

It’s not all your fault.

It wasn’t your idea to lie to his mom.

But it started

from me.

Why do you think so?

Mouse wanted to repay

Wei the money of two hundred thousand.

So he lied to Aunt,

saying that we’re buying a wedding house.

She got worried

and came to Shanghai.

But you can’t take

all the responsibility.

First of all,

like Wei has said already,

the bag thing is over.

Stop talking about it.

She doesn’t need you to repay.

Secondly,

why would Mouse do that?

It’s because he likes you. He cares about you.

He loves you.

Is there right or wrong in loving someone?

It’s exactly because he’s done so much for me,

which makes me feel...

I’ve been causing troubles

for him since we’re together.

I don’t even know

what I can offer him.

I even irritated Aunt to the hospital.

Does it show my affection for him?

Would others be like me when they like someone?

What’s the feeling of falling in love with somebody?

Falling in love with someone

would be like you want to see him every day.

When you miss him,

it’s killing you.

When you can’t see him,

one day feels like a whole year.

But every minute of you staying together

is sweet as honey.

He’s the most

shining one

among the crowd.

The patient

is awake now.

She’s fine.

Make sure she rests well recently.

Stay in a good mood.

Sure, thank you, Doctor.

Thanks.

Mom, here’s your water.

I’m not your mom.

Mom, I was wrong.

Don’t be mad at me.

I’ve raised you with all my heart.

Now that you’ve grown up, you don’t need me anymore.

You even lied to me

with this girl.

Alright, Mom.

I’m so disappointed.

Mom, let it go, okay?

You are weak. The doctor asked you to...

Why do you care?

I never imagine you can be this rebelling.

Mom, I... I won’t anymore.

Can… Can we drop it off?

The doctor asked you to stay happy.

Some water?

No.

Just let me die.

No, Mom.

I’ll listen to you, seriously.

I’ll listen to whatever you say.

Can you promise me?

Whatever I say?

Yeah, I can.

Mom.

Here, drink some water.

Fine.

Go back to hometown with me.

Leave Shanghai.

Wait.

Mom, where does it even come from?

Liangkun.

Actually, your dad and I

have always wanted you to go back home.

You’re not young anymore.

Housing price in Shanghai is too high.

When would you be able to

keep a foothold in Shanghai?

It doesn’t matter if it’s Liu,

or Wang, Zhang and Li in the future.

She’s gonna ask for a house when married.

Besides,

your father is old now.

Our hardware store

can’t hand over to strangers, can we?

Mom,

I’ve got a job here.

Let me tell you, Liangkun.

Just listen to me for once, okay?

Don’t let us worry about you anymore.

Mom, let’s

talk about this later...

It’s a deal!

Just listen to me.

It’d be killing me

if you don’t come back with me!

Mom.

(Mai Zi Talk Cake)

Mouse,

it was my fault.

Or Aunt wouldn’t be

in the hospital now.

I’d like to explain to her at the hospital

and apologize to her.

It’s not necessary.

I’m leaving Shanghai.

To send her back?

I want to go with you.

Can I come, too?

Okay?

I may not come back.

Why?

If… If you don’t come back,

what should I do?

Mouse.

Do you hate me?

Or,

are you abandoning me?

Tell me.

You...

Wenjing.

You can stay in the apartment.

I’ve paid half-a-month rent.

You...

You can find a better job.

Then the rent shouldn’t

be a problem to you.

I believe

you can take care of yourself

when I’m not around.

Mouse.
