I became the man I am today

all because I was touched
by the love of a little panda.

From that day on,
I began studying with a passion.

The only thing I wanted to do
was to help these marvelous creatures.

In the early 1980s,

the first panda breeding center
was created in Wolong.

It is situated in the heart of the area
where the great panda still roam free.

Look at that.

LU: For hundreds of years,
the panda's natural habitat

has been severely affected.

Pandas have been struggling
on the brink of extinction.

The Wolong Preserve has been,
and continues to be,

the key factor
in the wild panda's recovery.

To date, the population
has grown back to about 1,600 pandas.

We are continuing our dedication
to protecting these magical animals

so they can live happily
and safely in our world.
