[The Starry Night, The Starry Sea]

- Episode 21 -

That's right. An Zuo made me do this.

Because while doing business, I was manipulated by him.

I owe him a huge debt.

If you didn't have the money, you could have asked Dad for it.

I couldn't open my mouth to ask!

- Why?!- Because I am man!

Buyan, I can't always go to your father whenever I encounter an issue.

I don't want your father to look down on me.

Do you understand?

Buyan, everything that I've done was for us.

For our future!

Buyan, listen to me. An Zuo has already agreed.

After this is all done, he won't make me do anything else!

The debt I owe him will be completely erased.

I won't help him do anything any more.

Believe me! Forgive me, okay?

I know you are really angry.

How about... How about you hit me?

- Hit me!- I don't want to. Let go of me!

Then I'll hit myself.

No! I'll forgive you.

Do you really forgive me?

But you must promise me. This is the very last time, okay?

I promise you.

This is absolutely the very last time.

The very last time.

Thank you, Buyan.

Thank you.

Where's Xiao Luo? How is she?

Xiao Luo is fine.

Why did you poison Xiao Luo and I?

I'll be honest with you. The truth is...

I was never blood related to Bai Yihan.

I was also never suffering from any sort of terminal disease.

I'm just a small fan of yours.

I happened to fall crazily in love with you.

I dreamed that one day I would be with you.

Sorry.

Then how did you know?

True love's kiss. How did you know

that the spiritual pearl is in Shen Luo's body? And how did you know,

to use barrenwort and deadly nightshade to deal with me?

I...

You're lying!

Wu Julan.

Talk! Who is giving you orders?

It was me.

My master.

Regulus, drink this. Then you'll get better.

Why did you do it?

Our family's mission

is to protect you and allow you to live on.

So, you decided on your own

to have Michelle plot against me

and make me steal the spiritual pearl in Shen Luo's body?

This is the only way you can live on!

Causing the woman I love to die in order to lengthen my life,

this is not helping me!

Master! Please punish me!

All of this was my plan.

Liangliang didn't know anything about this.

I also forced Michelle to do this!

If Xiao Luo really did die,

do you think I'd peacefully enjoy this thousand years of life?

I would only live within pain, regret,

and selfishness! I'd be in a living hell for life!

Regulus!

Look upon the fact that Granny has been loyal to you all her life,

and spare her please!

Xiao Luo is my woman.

If you dare to do anything to her from now on,

I won't let you off lightly!

Before you do anything else,

you'd best consider

if you are able to withstand my fury.

I understand, Master.

I will prescribe a new medicine for you right now.

Where did you guys go so early in the morning?

Why didn't I see you as soon as I got up?

Wu Julan, are you feeling ill?

Last night he was feeling a bit ill,

but right now he is fine.

Where do you feel unwell? I'll pour you some water.

I'm fine.

Just sit next to me.

Michelle, honestly!

Wu Julan is sick, and he still ran out so early in the morning.

You're sick, too!

I'm not sick.

So... you're a fake?

I've always admired Wu Julan a lot.

That's why I did such silly things.

You're not only good at writing stories, you're good at acting, too!

You got us all fooled!

Sorry.

Forget it. It's good that you're stepping back now.

But if we look at it from a different angle,

that means I have good taste!

The man I chose is a desired product!

And he only chose me to be his real girlfriend!

My mood has suddenly gotten a lot better thinking about it!

It's like winning the lottery.

Xiao Luo,

it was you and Wu Julan who made me believe

that there really is something in this world that can surpass life and death.

That is love.

Wu Julan really loves you.

Of course.

Granny,

Michelle bought a boat ticket to leave the island this afternoon.

Why didn't you tell me first that you were sending Michelle?

If I told you, I'm afraid it'd have been discovered long ago.

But what about now? Your plan didn't do a thing!

You're wrong. My plan didn't fail.

You and Michelle were just lead astray.

Love is the most amazing magic in this world.

It can make a selfish person altruistic.

The weak become strong.

The greedy one becomes kind.

The smart become stupid.

You two are no different.

Granny, shouldn't you really think it over?

Perhaps you're wrong.

Perhaps I used the wrong method,

but my motives will never be wrong.

- Granny!- Enough!

I don't want to discuss this topic with you!

I just received news that the black knife has been stolen!

What?

It must have been An Zuo!

The black knife was stolen.

Now, Regulus has also been poisoned by the Angel's Trumpet.

The Black Wizard Society is forcing us back step by step.

An Zuo is in New York.

On this island,

he must still have his subordinate here!

Since the attack incident from the last birthday feast,

I have felt that An Zuo has a subordinate here.

But I've never found any clues. I'll continue pursuing this matter.

This has to do with Regulus's safety. You must hurry!

Yes.

Brother Tou. Brother Tou!

Listen to me! I found that person!

Then why didn't you bring him to me?

No! That person is too old! When I found him,

these pictures were all that was left!

They're upside down!

Listen to me, Brother Tou.

I got it! Don't worry, I'll give you enough money.

No! That's not what I want to say!

Just what do you want to say?

I wanted to ask... did Buyan get sick after going back last night?

She has been looking pretty unhappy lately.

Buyan is doing very well.

That's good.

Yiyang, as a human,

the most important thing is to know yourself well.

Don't even think about a girl like Buyan.

I know I don't match her.

But I have a heart to make her happy!

Let me tell you. The only one who can make her happy

is me, Zhou Buwen.

No, wait!

No! Don't you like Shen Luo?

You can't make Buyan be the spare tire.

What did you say?

You two are family.

Zhou Buwen.

Last evening, there were some people from the neighborhood who saw you go up to the rear of the mountain.

Is there a rule that I can't go up the mountain at night?

Last night, Wu Julan was attacked by someone on the mountain.

I'm thinking,

about you going up the mountain and Wu Julan being attacked,

could these two things be connected?

You have such a wild imagination.

Do you have something to do with this, too?

Let me tell you. I didn't see Wu Julan last night.

Then why did you suddenly go up the mountain?

- I went--- For a date.

My big brother and I wanted to find a romantic spot

and do some romantic things.

How about it? You have thoughts on that?

Wu Liangliang, if you don't believe, you can go and ask some people in the neighborhood.

I go wherever my brother goes.

What is it?

Dr. Wu, you're interested in what happened last night?

Big Brother, let's go. Don't bother with her.

I will only help you this time.

Why are you suddenly feeling ill?

How do you feel now?

Not that great.

Where do you feel ill?

Here?

A bit higher.

Here?

A bit higher.

Here?

Alright, you lied to me?

I feel a lot better now.

Really? In that case, do you want to be strengthened a little more?

Timing and Subtitles brought to you by the Gone with the Shirt Team @ Viki

Are you really okay?

My self-healing capability is very good.

What capability are you very good at?

And you say you lived over a thousand years and have super powers!

You always make me worry.

I thought you were going to die last night you got sick!

Xiao Luo,

if I really am gone one day, what will you do?

Don't you live forever?

Last time, you even used three paintings to provoke me.

You said that even when I became a wrinkly old woman,

you'd still be a fresh faced handsome man.

Everything has a lifespan.

Even the planet of life and reproduction

will disappear into nothing one day.

Don't worry! I definitely won't live longer than you!

After a hundred years, if you look for a girlfriend,

you're not allowed to find one prettier than me!

But... you wouldn't be able to do that anyway!

What if I die before you?

The weather is unpredictable and something unexpected may happen at any moment.

You crow's mouth!

How could you say that about yourself?

You have to learn to live optimistically, like me!

I still have a lot of places I want to go to with you.

I want to travel the world and taste the world's delicious foods!

Perhaps live in a premium luxury villa.

I'm just dreaming, it doesn't cost me anything.

Didn't I say my debt will be repaid before menopause begins?

We can still travel the world!

I'll take you to New York tomorrow.

New York?

What for?

We don't have much money!

Wu Julan, all my money is for repaying my debt!

Don't even think of using it!

This is Violet. She's Wu Liangliang's grandma.

She runs a business in America.

Miss Shen,

my boss saw the sashimi feast pictures online.

He is very interested.

So, he wants to ask Mr. Wu to perform for him in New York.

Really?

Such a great thing has been tossed to us from the heavens!

This is a good day! Whatever I want to happen, happens!

But you're the only one invited.

You are my manager; of course, you have to go with me.

Wouldn't it be too exaggerated for a chef to have a manager?

But you are a top chef.

It's not strange for you to have a manager.

Why is there only a plane ticket for me?

I'm more used to going by sea.

Liangliang! You were looking for me?

I'm going back to New York.

My grandma wants to invite Wu Julan to New York to perform the sashimi feast.

I intend to go with him.

You're really going back?

My exchange here was only for a short time anyway.

I would have gone back sooner or later.

The internet is so well developed now. Even if I go back to America,

we can still contact each other often.

The hospital director is waiting for me to finish the paperwork. I'll go first.

Liangliang!

Our beautiful love just started!

Are you going to leave now?

I... I haven't even held your hand before!

Yet, you are already giving our romance a terminal illness notification?

You changed your mind?

Jiang Yisheng, you are a good person.

She even gave me the nice person card?

This development seems to be wrong.

No! I can't just sit back and watch!

I must take the initiative to pursue my happiness!

Stuff in New York is expensive! I must bring enough things!

With this suitcase, even if you fall onto a deserted island,

you could still live for many years.

Aren't we still deeply in debt? If we can be frugal, we should.

What else do you need? Let me help.

No! You don't need to help me. Come.

You just need to recuperate and recharge. When the time comes, you must not drop the ball, okay?

Who knows? We may even be asked to go on a performance tour!

Hey, give me a hand! Give me a hand, hurry!

I'm so tired.

What are you doing? Wu Julan and I are the only two going to New York.

Why did you move the things from the little kiosk here?

Who said only you two were going? I'm telling you,

I'm going, too. I've taken vacation days and bought a plane ticket.

I'm ready to go to New York with you two.

Jiang Yisheng! You're putting in so much effort to date?

Why are you putting it like that?

I am pursuing true love.

Come! I'll help you pack!

I found this at the place where Regulus was attacked.

Find a way to gather the fingerprints of the people by Regulus's side.

Take them back to New York with this blowgun.

So, as long as we compare the fingerprints,

we will find out who is harming Regulus?

Take advantage of time.

Just as Regulus wants, we'll return to New York tomorrow morning.

Yes.

Granny, what are you worrying about?

Liangliang, I can guess why he wants to bring Shen Luo to New York.

Why do the two people who should not love each other

fall in love?

To them, love

is like the blooming phase of fireworks.

Even if it is more beautiful,

it is only momentary. After the beauty fades,

there will be eternal pain.

Xiao Luo and Wu Julan are going to America tomorrow morning!

Very good.

They are sending themselves to me.

I heard Xiao Luo say

that Wu Julan was invited by some big boss to make a sashimi feast.

It looks like Wu Julan came to New York to show off.

He's bringing Shen Luo, too?

That's really causing one's jealousy to wane.

Perhaps... I can find a way to help you.

What way?

Timing and Subtitles brought to you by the Gone with the Shirt Team @ Viki

I've only seen such a fancy car on TV before!

Don't break it!

Xiao Luo, how about I switch to holding a cooking knife, too?

I can be Wu Julan's secretary! How about it?

Forget it! Just be a psychologist!

Where is Wu Julan? Didn't he head out before us?

He took the water path.

He took a boat?

He took a boat from China to America? How long is that going to take?

Don't bother with all that!

New York's scenery is different from the island!

Yes! Look at how tall that building is!

Driver,

let's go straight to the hotel.

Yes, let's go to the hotel first.

We'll look at other places later.

We have a lot of luggage.

You will be living here.

- We're living here?- Yes.

Liangliang! Surprise!

- Hi!- You didn't think I'd come, too. Right?

Are you happy? Delighted? Startled?

You've bought everything from the island's little kiosk.

Who wouldn't know that you're coming to New York?

I took an earlier flight here to prepare this for you.

- Let's go!- Let's go upstairs.

- What's going on?- It requires a pass code.

It's Xiao Luo's birthday. It'll be easy for you to remember.

- My birthday?- Xiao Luo, then you come.

It opened! It opened!

Move aside!

Cool!

What a fancy room!

It must be super expensive to stay one day here!

I want to know, who paid for the car and for us to stay here?

The boss, of course.

This is too much!

If I'd known earlier that we'd be staying here, I wouldn't have brought instant noodles and pickled vegetables!

Xiao Luo, you and Wu Julan will stay upstairs.

Jiang Yisheng will stay in the guestroom downstairs.

That's right, where is your granny's boss?

We must thank him for such fancy treatment!

He's busy. Go rest first.

After Wu Julan comes tonight, let's eat dinner together.

That's right. Xiao Luo, go rest and get rid of the jet lag.

I'll spend time alone with Liangliang!

Let's go!

What do you want?

Liangliang, be honest.

Is the boss of your grandma reliable?

What is it?

What is it?

Who would treat a chef to stay at such a fancy place?

The pass code to the door is Xiao Luo's birthday, too!

It's strange no matter how you think about it!

It couldn't be an international criminal

that fell for the beauty of me and Xiao Luo,

and tricked us to come all the way from China?

Look in a mirror.

Which silly human trafficker would set up such a grand stage to kidnap you?

It would have already resulted in a huge loss without any return.

Why would it be a loss? There must be a gain of some amount.

Don't worry!

My grandma has worked with her boss for her entire life.

She knows him very well.

That's good. Now, the serious matters are over.

Let's talk about some not-so-serious things.

Want to be romantic with me?

I didn't think that you'd be so forward!

Go change your clothes. I'll take you for a walk.

We're in New York, where are you?

Xiao Luo!

Wu Julan, you swam so quickly!

If I wasn't hurt, I'd have been even faster.

I'll call Liangliang. The boss asked us to dinner tonight.

Hello, Liangliang?

Please let your boss know.

Tonight, I'm going to spend time alone with Xiao Luo.

So cool and confident?

In my eyes, no one is more important than you.

That's right. In a bit, when we go back to where we're staying,

you better not be like a village bumpkin. That place is very luxurious and grand!

Take me to look at it.

A registered letter.

This is the fingerprint report.

Besides the fingerprints on the poisonous gun, I also gathered Shen Luo, Jiang Yisheng,

Zhou Buwen, Zhou Buyan, and Zhu Yiyang's fingerprints.

But this report says

that the fingerprints on the poisonous gun don't match any of them.

That means the one that attacked Wu Julan

in not one of the group.

Do you know what this is?

What is that?

Wu Liangliang found the blowgun at the place where you attacked Wu Julan.

This is the report that says your fingerprints are on the weapon.

Then does Wu Liangliang know I did it?

I've already taken it from the mailman.

You probably won't be exposed.

Thank you, Boss An.

Stop being a smart aleck.

How many times have I told you to not do that?

Yes, I won't dare to do it again.

If you do it again, you know the consequences.

No, there won't be a next time.

This is already the seventh book.

How many more stories do you need to hear before you fall asleep?

This one will be the last one, okay?

I've read this one before.

Agnete and the Merman.

Andersen's Little Mermaid? Isn't she a daughter of the sea?

The story of the daughter of the sea is talking about a mermaid.

This book is about a merman.

So, Andersen also wrote a merman's story.

What does this story talk about?

It's about a gold haired merman

who ran into a girl named Agnete.

Later on, the two of them fell in love.

They lived together.

They had many children, too.

But in the end,

Agnete couldn't give up her human life.

In the end, she still left the merman.

You're not a gold haired merman, and I'm not Agnete.

I won't leave you!

I'm not that sensitive, don't overthink it.

Whenever you mention mermaids,

it reminds me that when a woman says a man has a good figure,

they all like to say that he has a mermaid line!

Do you know what a mermaid line is?

I don't know.

How annoying!

There's only one bed in such a big room!

I'll force myself to sleep in the same bed as you!

You sleep here, I'll sleep in the guestroom.

Rest early.

Wu Julan, you're such a blockhead!

I'm sorry. Boss doesn't have time to see you today either.

It's no rush!

There's good food and drink for us! We'd love to stay for a few more days!

- We'll treat it as a vacation, right?- Okay!

Liangliang, where should we go play today?

Xiao Luo, I'll take you out for a walk today.

Okay!

I exchanged for six hundred USD before I came here. We'll each take half.

Don't spend sparingly! We have to play well!

Wu Julan! You're really accepting Xiao Luo's money?

It's easy for a man to give a woman money to spend.

But if a man wants to spend a woman's money,

it requires a lot of attraction.

You are living off a woman and still try to explain it away.

Why are you making it sound so bad?

My money was earned with Wu Julan!

What's mine is his!

Liangliang! Then I'll give you money to spend from now on, too!

What's mine is yours!

Eat your food.

Eat, eat, eat! We'll go play afterwards!

This is the famous Central Park.

It was created in 1857.

It's the first landscape park in America.

Look over there.

The place where we live is over there.

I heard Liangliang say that only very rich people can live there!

Looks like the boss of Violet is as wealthy as a nation.

If not, why would the standard of the cook's reception be so high?

What do you think her boss looks like?

As I see it, he must be an old man who can't even walk!

Why are you suddenly interested in this person?

You're jealous?

Yes, I am such high quality!

Perhaps, that boss will fall for me!

Who says that Violet's boss is definitely a male?

Perhaps it's a woman.

- Hello?- It's all ready.

Okay, I got it.

Tonight, Violet prepared a party.

We're invited to go. It'll be a good chance to meet her boss.

Let's hurry and go back to prepare! Let's go!

Xiao Luo, no matter what happens to me from now on,

you must remember that I love you.

How is it? Can I wear this to the party?

You're the one that's invited. I'm just accompanying you. It's the same no matter what I wear.

Wearing proper clothes during a party shows respect for the master.

Am I supposed to buy an outfit?

New York's stuff is so expensive! I don't want to spend money on a gown!

Xiao Luo.

Liangliang, these two are...?

These are stylists that the boss has arranged for you.

Just leave yourself to them.

I guarantee you'll have a full makeover.

The boss has thought of everything!

Xiao Luo!

You're so pretty today.
