- Episode 29 -

You dared to follow me?

Words mean nothing. Who would believe you?

You want to destroy the evidence?

Not so easy.

Why isn't Xiao Luo willing to be with me?

Why do all of you treat me like this?

Is it wrong for me to love someone?

Let's make a trade.

You taught me that.

What trade?

Love your Shen Luo.

I'll pursue Buyan.

Don't ever let me know that you hurt Zhou Buyan.

Otherwise, I'll have the entire village

watch this video.

Especially that woman you love most,

Shen Luo.

I came here because Regulus gave me a call.

He invited me to attend his... wedding with Shen Luo.

There's only a bit over ten days left.

We can't do anything.

We can only watch...

Regulus marry Du Xiaolin's descendant.

Granny!

It was after Shen Luo found out about Regulus' upcoming deadline

that she decided to marry him.

Shen Luo may be Du Xiaolin's descendant,

the two of them may be

the pair who shouldn't be together the most,

but they broke through all obstacles to make it to this step.

They proved to us

that true love can overcome anything in this world.

Granny,

our responsibility is to watch over the merpeople,

and do our best to lengthen their lives.

But now that it has come to this, I think the only thing we can do,

is to respect Regulus's choice

and bless him and Shen Luo.

That's right.

An Zuo gave me this before he left.

Destroy this for me.

- Will this do?- All of these flowers have to be put up there.

- All of them! Put them all on there!- Okay, okay.

Yes, there needs to be some up there, too.

Hurry. Hey, hurry up! Don't be so slow.

None of the wood can show!

- Like this?- Yes. Turn it around. Turn all of them around.

Come, pull it this way.

Yes, pull it this way.

- Yes, come over.- Here. Here?

Why are you so stupid?

You're back?

Come, come, come. Sit down.

Come, hurry and sit!

Come, drink some hot tea.

Don't look at me. Drink!

Did something happen while we were gone?

What could have happened?

That's right.

Um... someone told me to give this to you.

So that's what it is.

Xiao Wu, the first time I saw you,

I knew you weren't a regular person!

Xiao Wu, Xiao Wu. You even changed your greeting. You're getting very intimate now.

What do you understand? Don't interrupt.

I'm not done talking yet! How could you two leave?

Groom, are you willing to take the bride as your wife?

I'm willing! I'm totally willing!

Dr. Jiang, I think you said the wrong line.

You're a groomsman! Why are you willing?

I can't help myself.

Liangliang,

you are so pretty today.

When... can we be

like Xiao Luo and Wu Julan and become the day's main characters?

According to your performance... it should be soon.

Really?

Dr. Jiang! We're still in rehearsal!

Everyone be careful later!

Okay, got it.

Village Chief, where are you guys going?

Recently,

aren't there many pets in the village being attacked lately?

Everyone suspects that it was done by a wild animal on the mountain.

I'm bringing someone to take a look.

Okay, then get going. Be careful.

Let's go!

Be careful!

Big Brother!

Big Brother! Look!

Do you think it would look good if I wear this to the wedding?

Yes.

Are you troubled by something?

No.

Tell me! What's wrong?

I can't keep anything from you.

It's nothing much.

A subordinate betrayed me recently.

He dared to threaten me, too.

What are you going to do now?

Don't worry.

How could I let him control me so easily?

Not only can't he win,

he will also pay the price for this.

Big Brother, I believe in you.

This is a vial of poison, I already did research on it.

Why do you have such a thing in your room?

An Zuo gave me this before.

I was busy recently, so I forgot to deal with it. You reminded me in time.

I'll go pour it out right now.

Wu Julan,

tomorrow is your wedding day.

I will bring you a big present.

I will definitely make your wedding

very memorable.

Regulus,

this is your medicine for today.

These drugs can only alleviate your pain slightly.

It cannot cure your illness.

Our family has worked for over a hundred years,

but we still couldn't find a better way to save you.

Don't say that.

From the moment I decided to give up on the spiritual pearl,

I knew that my ending would be like will happen this afternoon.

This is my own decision. I will take up the consequences myself.

Regulus.

I only hope that on the last day,

I can still make Xiao Luo spend it happily.

Wu Julan! Wu Julan?

Wu Julan! Wu Ju--!

Why is it you?

Who else could it be? I heard you yelling from the front door.

As a girl, can't you be a little bit more modest?

Have you gone crazy from missing him?

Stop being a nag. Did you see Wu Julan?

I really haven't seen him.

Could Wu Julan be regretting it?

He thinks you're ugly, so he's leaving you at the altar?

Jiang Yisheng!

I'm just making a joke to lighten the atmosphere!

Wu Julan went to prepare by the ocean early this morning.

What are you doing?

Who told you to play a trick on me just now?

Wu Julan, congratulations.

Today is your happy day with Xiao Luo.

I congratulate you from my heart.

Come. I'll drink a cup to you.

I know. I went overboard before.

I'm sorry. I'll drink first.

Xiao Luo invited me here today.

Even if you won't give her face, you can't make things hard on her.

Of course, I won't make things hard on Xiao Luo.

I accept your blessings.

But drinking will cause disruption.

Today is my happy day.

I will drink this cup another day.

How is it?

How is it? How is it? Are you done?

You don't say!

Our Xiao Luo is kind of pretty after dressing up!

If you say that, Wu Julan didn't pick wrong.

Jiang Yisheng! You're the one that picked wrong!

Without any makeup, I'm already a national grace with divine fragrance (great beauty) who's capable of causing the downfall of a state (devastating beauty), okay?

No makeup but still capable of causing the downfall of a state (devastating beauty)?

You're so awful! Awful!

Enough, enough, cut it out!

What do we do? It broke! Will it bring bad luck?

What bad luck?

Shattered but safe. Shattered but safe. This should be auspicious, right?

It's your fault!

Xiao Luo? Xiao Luo.

What is it? Are you okay?

It's nothing, we just accidentally broke it.

Let's go, the wedding is about to start.

Hurry and go! Hurry and go! Don't delay serious matters!

- I'm sorry.- Auntie, Auntie!

Auntie!

How could you leave just like that?

If I don't leave now,

I'll be eaten by that monster!

What monster?

Are you seeing hallucinations again?

All of you treat me like an idiot!

Move aside!

All you saw was real.

Wu Julan is indeed not human.

He's not only not human,

also, he will eat humans without a second thought!

So, you should watch yourself.

No, no, no, I'll leave.

I just dealt with one.

There's still so many other people, what do I do?

What do we do?

He's a monster!

Village Chief! Wu Julan is a monster! You all saw it, right?

Wu Julan's face and arms are covered in scales!

Yes, yes, I saw it, too!

He also grew claws that were this long!

If his claw came down, he'd rip through someone's stomach!

Okay, okay, okay.

I called you all here to listen to your thoughts.

You are the village chief! We're supposed to listen to you!

- That's right, we listen to you!- Village Chief, what you say goes!

I've lived for a very long time, but I haven't run into this sort of situation before either!

I don't know what to do right now either!

It's very simple! If we drive the monster out,

won't that be the end of it?

Yes! Drive him out! Drive him out!

But Wu Julan didn't do anything harmful.

If we drive him out like this,

wouldn't we be too oppressive?

Who says he hasn't?

Miss Fatty, let me ask you.

You said your chickens all suddenly died.

There was also a claw mark this big on their stomachs. Did that happen?

Yes! All our chickens died like that!

Who else had this happen at home?

Me!

- A lot of people had this happen!- A lot of chickens died at our home!

Then, before Wu Julan came,

had this sort of thing happened before?

No, it really never did!

Isn't the problem solved then? Just drive out the monster!

That's right! It's his doing!

- Drive him out!- Drive him out!

How about this?

- Let's all go find Shen Luo and clarify things with her first.- That's right!

If the attack on our domesticated animals

really has to do with Wu Julan,

I guarantee to everyone

that I will definitely drive him off the island!

Good! Drive him off the island!

Drive him out! Drive him out! Drive him off the island!

Is this Liangliang? Did you find Wu Julan yet?

Not yet. We will continue looking.

I got it.

I wasn't trying to take advantage of you on purpose.

You weren't moving,

so I was afraid that something was wrong with you.

Just where did you go?

Wu Julan!

You're finally back. I thought you wouldn't come back.

Wu Julan, what's wrong?

Wake up!

Wu Julan!

How is he?

Don't worry.

He's okay.

Granny, why did Regulus return to his original form during the wedding?

I've investigated it.

On the day of the wedding, Shen Luo's wedding gown

was tampered with. Someone put a needle filled with poisonous mandrake solution in it.

Regulus was hurt by the poisonous needles.

He wasn't in his right state of mind. That's why he showed his original form.

Is it still a big problem now?

It's okay now.

The poison has faded. But now, he is still very weak.

Wu Julan, do you still feel awful?

I'm okay.

Regulus,

I've already made arrangements.

Tonight, we'll return to New York.

Wu Julan, you're going to leave?

I won't leave.

Your identity has been exposed!

If you continue staying here, I'm afraid the island villagers will harm you.

Granny is right. The people here won't spare you.

No. I won't leave.

But--!

If I leave like this,

the people on the island will trasnfer their fear of me

over to Xiao Luo instead.

In the future, Xiao Luo won't be able to live here anymore.

Wu Julan!

Wu Julan! Come out!

Wu Julan! Come out!

They come just as we're talking about them!

I'll go take a look.

Liangliang, stay here and protect Regulus.

Yes!

Hurry and hand him over! Hand him over!

Hurry and open the door!

Hand over Wu Julan! Hand over Wu Julan!

They're too angry, you must be careful.

Hurry and open the door!

Don't open the door! The people outside are all crazy!

They've just misunderstood Wu Julan. It'll be okay when the misunderstanding is cleared up.

Open up!

Open the door!

- Open up!- Where is the monster?- What are you doing?

Hand over the monster!

Hurry and hand him over!

Don't think we don't know that you're hiding him!

- Hand over that monster!- Talk properly! What are you pushing for?

Where is Wu Julan? Hand him over!

Who are you calling a monster?

What are you being mean for?

I'm not the only one who called him a monster!

Everyone saw it themselves!

- Yes! That's right!- Hand over the monster!

That's right! Wu Julan is different from us. But he's not a monster!

Wu Julan... is a mermaid.

A mermaid? What?

I don't care if he's a monster or a mermaid!

Today, we all came to drive him out!

That's right! Drive him out!

Wu Julan has been kind to humans!

He stayed to his place! Based on what are you driving him out?

Stayed to his place? Who are you tricking?

Xiao Luo, recently on our island, there have been a lot of cases

of brutal attacks on our domesticated poultry and livestock!

- Yes!- Tell me honestly.

Does this have to do with Wu Julan?

No!

Village Chief! You watched me grow up!

You know me best.

I guarantee that this was definitely not done by Wu Julan!

Village Chief! Of course, she'll say that!

Shen Luo! You say that this has nothing to do with Wu Julan! Do you have evidence?

That's right! Give us the evidence!

- Then if you say it has to do with Wu Julan, do you have evidence?- You--!

You what? If you don't have evidence, then shut up!

Wu Julan has been on the island for a while.

I believe you all know what he's like.

Uncle, have you forgotten?

Recently, your grandchild ran wild outside and was almost hit by a car.

Who was the one who saved him?

It... It was Wu Julan.

Now that you mention it, the last time my electricity box was broken,

it was Xiao Wu who fixed it for me.

I heard it was Big Brother Wu who had captured the habitual thief on our island.

That's right! I remember now!

Also, every time Xiao Wu comes to buy meat from me, he has never haggled over the price.

V-Village Chief!

Have we made a mistake?

- Brother Wu is so handsome.- That's right!

How could he be a monster?

Yes, we made a mistake!

Um... Xiao Luo,

it seems like everyone misunderstood Wu Julan.

Don't take it to heart. Wu Julan

isn't a regular human after all.

If everyone is afraid,

it is unavoidable.

I understand. I just hope that everyone can stop misunderstanding Wu Julan and trying to drive him out.

O-O-Of course!

Since Wu Julan doesn't harm humans,

- of course, we all welcome him to live on the island!- That's right!

- Okay, okay! Since it's okay now, we'll go back!- Yes!

Go back, go back!

- Sorry!- Everyone go slowly!

We're leaving now!

Yes, Village Chief is right!

Brother Wu is so handsome!

It definitely isn't him!

He's such a good person!

How could he be a monster and do so many bad things?

Zhou Buwen, did you tell Buyan the truth yet?

- Not yet.- Not yet?

You're dragging it out?

I've been too busy lately. I'll tell her in a few days.

Then I'll tell her about all your shameful deeds.

Wu Julan.

What is it?

Can you promise me one thing?

What is it?

Can you not hate the villagers?

They're not bad people. They're just too afraid.

You've been distracted because you were thinking about that?

I've been to the human world many times. I've seen all types of humans before.

If I hated someone for this small matter,

then wouldn't I be exhausted?

Since people are so bad in your heart,

then why did you come back?

People don't just have traits like wickedness and sadness.

There are also traits like kindness, tolerance, and mercy.

Also,

I'm in love with a human now anyway.

Wu Julan, you're too intelligent.

Yes, there are bad and good humans.

Just like how there are edible and inedible fish.

Then, Miss Shen Luo,

in your heart, am I edible or inedible?

That... of course, you're inedible.

But I really want to eat you.

What are you thinking about?

I'm thinking, who was the one behind the incident this time?

Regular people wouldn't know that mandrake makes merpeople show their true form.

That's right!

Also, An Zuo has left.

Someone who knows inside information... and hates Wu Julan.

There's only one person on this island.

You mean Da Tou?

Impossible, impossible! It can't be him!

Da Tou has already changed for the better!

Besides, he saved Xiao Luo last time, too!

Perhaps he used last time to trick us?

If he tricked us once, then he could trick us again.

Get up!

Did you eat explosive medicine?

You dare to bully me now?

Stop hitting me! Stop hitting me!

Big Brother, is Wu Julan a monster?

Didn't you see it before?

Why aren't you startled at all?

What's there to be startled about? I knew long ago.

You knew long ago?

If you knew long ago, why didn't you tell me?

That Boss An from before told you to attack him.

Is it because he is a monster?

Big Brother, stop eating!

Let's leave here, okay?

Boss Zhou, it is finished.

We have destroyed that thing as you requested.

Very good.

Let's leave. I'm afraid.

What are you afraid of?

Don't worry. We'll be okay. As for Wu Julan,

he will get what he deserves.

Eat your dinner.

What kind of wound is this? It's so serious.

Clean the wound first.

Come catch me!

I caught you!

It's her!

♪ Xiao Luo, Xiao Luo, you're quite shameless! ♪

Yes, yes! Just who did this to our Yiyang?

The culprit wasn't found at the scene,

but clear claw marks were found on his body.

Claw marks? Doctor, how could there be claw marks?

It is the first time I've seen such a strange wound, too.

It looks like an attack from a wild beast.

A wild monster? Claw mark?

It must be Wu Julan.

Only he could have left such a claw mark behind.
