killing him pretty
much instantly.

Sharply pointed at one end,

the largest circumference
measurement of the entry wound

Forensics says doubtful.

There were no epidermal rip
marks, entering or exiting.

A surface of a dart
isn't that smooth.

It would tear
the skin a little.

that size entry wound.

There are traces of something
in the samples from the wound,

but forensics needs more
time to figure out what it is.

In amniocentesis,
a fluid sample is removed

from a pregnant woman's
amniotic sac for analysis.

But to do that,
the obstetrician needs

to go in through
her abdomen.

And to do that, they
use a very long needle.

Oh, and F.Y.I, this particular
amnio needle was an old one,

I'd say, like,
30 years old.

- How do you know
it was 30 years old?

- Because I'm, quite
frankly, amazing.

In addition to
the needle's size-range,

the entry wound
tells me tons.

A modern amnio needle is
specifically designed

for visible sampling
in prenatal diagnosis.

- Can we go back to English?

- Today's amnio needle
has a spiral engraving

on its distal tip,
the pointy end,

to provide a reflective
surface for ultrasound.

- OK.
- Back in the day,

they didn't have this.

An amnio needle back then was
chemically coated with luminance

to help the doctor
guide it in.

- And so...

- Those old-time
luminance chemicals

leave a distinctive footprint

both entering and
exiting the flesh.

It was an amnio
needle, all right.
