Legend of Fei

Episode 9

"I thought my martial arts skills are second to none.

I didn't expect this person to be far better than me."

Are you Li Zheng of Southern Saber?

Yes.

How did you know I was in danger? -I happened to pass by.

Luckily I showed up in time.

Ms. Duan, where are you going? I'll give you a ride.

How do you know my name?

I knew it when I saw you doing Wither Palm.

I was on my way to Huarong...

...when I saw Madam Song and a kid being bullied.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing. So I helped them.

I didn't expect that they're from Disha.

If I wasn't held back by the baby, I'd have...

...beaten them to a pulp. I would've been as good as you.

"I didn't expect Southern Saber to be a gentle person."

She can't stop crying.

Good girl, stop crying.

Ms. Duan, it's the song you sang in the woods, right?

What is it called?

Lotus Picking Song.

You sing really well.

"You're as beautiful and fragrant as the lotus."

Beautiful. Really beautiful.

Oh, may I ask...

...the purpose of you heading to Huarong, Ms. Duan?

My twin and I were separated in a war when we're young.

I found out she's in Huarong.

So, I'm heading there to search for her.

People suffer during troubled times.

It's already a blessing if you can reunite with your family.

Brother Li, I really admire you...

...for having a big family like 48 Strongholds.

If you don't mind, you can be my guest there anytime.

What's your plan after this?

I've decided to take both of them to Huarong with me.

After what we've been through, I'm going to look after them.

Your heart is really as pure as pearl.

I'm relieved to hear that.

What a coincidence.

I love pearl the most.

It's only formed after a long time.

A pearl that's white and perfect is not easy to come by.

I'll prepare the cart.

Brother Li!

Yes, Ms. Duan.

Brother Li, I.....

Honestly, we may not have spent a long time together,...

...but I feel like I've known you for a long time.

I...

...start to have feelings for you.

If you're willing, why don't we wed?

What do you think?

Ms. Duan, I'm already in my forties.

My daughter is about your age.

If your senior wasn't my peer,...

...you could even address me as your uncle.

Stop joking.

I'm not joking!

I don't mind even if you're 80 years old.

Ms. Duan, I had a wife.

She passed away many years ago,...

...but I still can't forget her.

I'm afraid I can't reciprocate your feelings.

Ms. Duan,...

...why would you waste your youth on me?

In that case, just consider it unrequited love.

Today, we'll part ways.

Ms. Duan.

Throughout this journey, I only treat you as a good friend.

I have no other intention.

I don't know when we'll see each other again after parting ways.

I hope you will have a safe journey.

Take care.

A'Fei, what would you do if you're Jiuniang?

How would I know? It's weird.

What happened to the child after that?

She's been in poor health since young.

Fortunately, Magistrate Zhu raised her.

She's now married.

What about Jiuniang?

Would you dare to come out and have a duel with me?

I guarantee I can beat your Poxue Skills.

Brother Li.

Senior.

I said I could break Poxue Skills.

Tell me. Who taught you martial arts?

My mother did.

What could you possibly learn from your mother?

She wouldn't train you properly.

Follow me.

Madam Duan, I can't do the nine forms of Poxue Skills perfectly.

If it looks bad, it's because I'm not good at it,...

...not because Poxue Skills aren't good.

Why are you naggy despite your age? You're just like Li Zheng.

Madam, I'll make my move now.

Interesting.

The move is called Catch the Wind.

Do you get it?

Yes.

However, your Poxue Skills...

...are not as good as you grandfather's.

What's that move?

Mayfly Step.

When it's used with Poxue Skills, it's really interesting.

It'll be hard for you to practise Poxue Skills with your foundation.

"I'm stronger than Li Sheng.

Li Sheng didn't even have a chance to learn it."

It doesn't matter if it's hard. I'll just take my time.

That's true, you must practise diligently next time.

When we practised internal strength as children,...

...there were dozens of fellow disciples.

Half of them died in the first year.

In the second year, most remaining disciples died.

In the third year, there were only five of us left.

Do you know why?

How am I supposed to know?

My master transferred internal energy into our bodies...

...once a month.

You have no idea. Our bodies felt like it's going to burst.

That's the time...

...we had to endure the pain and control the energy.

We trained ourselves after three years of foundation.

Two years later, only my senior and I were left.

What do you think? Just be my disciple.

Wither Palm? -Yes.

Didn't you say my Poxue Skills were worse than my grandfather's?

I have a bad foundation and haven't mastered Poxue Skills.

How am I supposed to learn Wither Palm?

Whatever.

"An expert is trapped here as a concubine of a county officer.

This is sad."

Madam,...

...why don't you leave this place?

Follow me to 48 Strongholds.

Follow me to 48 Strongholds.

Follow me to 48 Strongholds.

Li Zheng!

Li Zheng, come out!

You are a coward!

Do you call yourself a man by hiding in there?

Accept my challenge if you're a man!

I'm not going to leave until you come out!

Who are you?

How dare you make a scene at 48 Strongholds.

Can you simply call Li Zheng by his name?

You must be Li Zheng's daughter.

He mentioned you to me.

You're young but bad-tempered.

Who on earth are you? What's your purpose of coming here?

Kid, don't speak so harshly.

We're about the same age,...

...but I think you'll call me "mother" in the future!

Crazy woman, I'll beat you up if you continue to spew nonsense.

Fine, let's see how you're going to beat me.

Jinrong.

Stop.

Brother Li.

Ms. Duan,...

...why won't you let it go?

I'm not clinging on you.

I only want to challenge you.

Since you're here, it means you've accepted it.

Bring it on.

Why didn't you draw your saber?

Are you underestimating me...

...or do you fear losing your reputation as Southern Saber?

Fine, as you wish.

I don't need your help.

Brother Li, what was that move called?

Edgeless.

Edgeless?

Edgeless.

Okay, I'll beat your Edgeless.

Just you wait.

Father, this woman is strange.

If she comes again, I'll chase her away.

You're no match for her.

She has fully mastered Wither Palm.

Send someone to watch her just in case she does something stupid.

No wind on a flat ground.

Then, I'll just create the wind.

When there's wind, I'll catch it.

I'll use this move to beat your Edgeless move!

"Is she recalling something?"

Li Zheng of Southern Saber?

He doesn't deserve the title.

You can criticise anyone but Brother Li!

Brother Li? You address him so intimately.

Are you his mistress?

I dare you to say it again!

So what if I say it again?

Be careful.

You're poisoned with my Silk Thread. Don't move.

Otherwise, you'll die sooner.

Silk Thread?

Are you Lianshen? -Yes.

Do you think I'm afraid of this tiny needle of yours?

No need to continue the fight.

We'll use her as a pawn. Let 48 Strongholds know.

You must let Li Zheng know that Duan Jiuniang is poisoned.

Brother Li, are you all right?

It's all right.

Ms. Duan,...

...why did you provoke Disha again?

Brother Li, I thought I was really going to die this time...

...and wouldn't be able to get my pearl back from you.

I didn't expect you to come and even use...

...your internal energy to save me.

This is nothing.

Why won't you admit that you have feelings for me?

You obviously like me, Brother Li.

You had a feud with Disha.

Why did you cause trouble without restraining yourself?

If I arrived later, you'd have been dead.

I'm saying this one last time.

It's impossible for us to be together.

Why should I allow myself to be bullied?

Who are you to lecture me?

I was careless this time.

I don't need you to save me even if I die on a street next time!

Madam.

Why should I go to 48 Strongholds?

You want me to live as a widow? -You finally understood.

What did I understand?

It is a vast world. Why must I go there?

You're hiding here, away from the outside world.

How can you bring me to 48 Strongholds?

That's right.

How can I?

"I can't beat anyone with this saber.

It's even hard for me to go out.

Who am I to bring her to 48 Strongholds?"

What are you doing?

A'Fei!

Ms. Zhou. -Madam, what did you do?

I transferred Wither Energy to her.

There are two paths in Wither Energy.

My master refused to pass both to me.

I've mastered Wither path.

It's like withered leaves swept away by high wind.

Internal breathing flows like ocean waves.

It depends if her meridian system can endure this.

Get up.

What do you practise? -Be careful.

What weapons are you using? Which universe are you in?

You.....

You're a bunch of pompous upright sects.

You tell your disciples to practise to stay healthy.

Don't you practise martial arts to survive death?

Without this spirit,...

...how are you different from those acrobats?

Answer me. Why are you ignoring me again?

Madam.

A'Fei is Master Li's granddaughter...

...and your junior after all.

Are you that cruel?

Please save her.

You're right,...

...but I can't save her.

Energy of Wither Palm is in her. It can't be taken out.

It depends on herself.

If she's really the descendant of Li, she can endure this.

If she's really incompetent...

...and she dies in my hands,...

...it is better than being killed by others, right?

Master, news of Chen Zichen being trapped in Huarong has spread.

We have news from Lord Tong...

...that Huo Liantao is making his move.

Good,...

...just as I expected.

He's still here.

Unexpectedly, Huo Liantao is willing...

...to follow Chen Zichen's order.

I have a gift for him.

Pass my order.

Leave a team behind to watch Huarong.

The rest will follow me out of the city and head to Huo Fort.

Yes, Master.

What's the situation? -Gray Wolf is preparing to leave.

Good, it's time.

Come here.

Did you notice Disha's disciples wearing masks...

...and identifying each other with their badges?

Everyone, take a break. We'll head out after resting.

Hou You, lead a team to stay here.

There's another assignment for you.

Don't worry. Guys, come with me!

The rest will follow me and Master Shen to Huo Fort.

Jiachen, if one strays away from the rest, assassinate him.

Pose as him and leave the city. -Noted.

"Huarong"

After Gray Wolf leaves, Mr. Bai will play a trick...

...and get rid of Qiu Tianjin's men.

Mr. Bai, please disguise as Shen Tianshu...

...and act as you see fit.

Look.

Let's go.

Who's there?

Master. -How may I help you?

This way, Qiu Tianjin will notice his men missing.

He'll definitely look into it all over the city.

When he finds out that Shen Tianshu is the culprit,...

...Gray Wolf and Lu Hound will have a falling-out.

Come clean! -We have no idea.

If not, I'll kill all of you! -Please don't kill us.

Lord Qiu, our men's bones were crushed,...

...but their expression remained unchanged when they died.

If that's the case.....

Shen Tianshu,...

...how dare you kill my men.

Your Highness, as Mr. Xie expected, Qiu Tianjin...

...is not sitting around.

Lu Hound starts suspecting Gray Wolf, too,...

...but the deployment at the city gate remains unchanged.

The guards will focus on people who try to escape,...

...but they may not check their own people one by one.

They think Lu Hound has gotten rid of moles.

They won't expect anyone to use the same trick again.

The authority won't check those from Disha,...

...as they've notified the county magistrate.

The county magistrate can't wait for you to leave the city.

Your donation to the people is considered a favour to him.

He would want you to leave the city safely.

This county magistrate isn't a bad person.

No one can choose where to live, but they can choose how.

Zichen, the chance to leave the city is right before your eyes.

You carefully planned this not only to help me,...

...but also to avenge your friends...

...who were killed by Disha at the inn, right?

General Wu and his family were loyal and heroic.

They died tragically.

We're like brothers. Even if it's a big mess,...

...I'll still take care of it.

Why shouldn't I kill two birds with one stone?

You're not even a pretty girl.

So, don't ask me pointless questions anymore.

Yes, it's all thanks to you.

Zichen, I held you when you're a kid.

I dare not say I know you very well,...

...but I do know a little.

Listen to me.

Stop getting involved in the martial arts world.

Go back to your father. Study and manage state affairs.

You know how my family...

...has been struggling in recent years. Only you can help me.

As long as you're willing, everything here will be ours.

Zichen, be careful with what you're saying.

All right, you're not willing to join me.

Can you bear to see the people suffering...

...and becoming homeless because of war?

We're different.

At present, all parties barely maintain a balance.

If I return, it'll cause more chaos.

More lives will be lost and the people will suffer more.

Since you said so, I won't persuade you anymore.

You must be careful out there.

All right.

Mr. Bai. -Yes.

Stay here for a couple of days and assist Xie Yun.

Yes. -Don't reject it.

I'm repaying you by doing this.

All right. Zichen, take care, too.

Be careful during the journey.

Stop! What are you doing?

Don't you know you can't leave the city without a permit?

I'm asking you a question!

Someone is escaping!

After him!

They're heading that way!

After him! -Hurry up!

Out of the way!

After him! Now!

"Huarong"

Hurry! Capture them!

They went that way! Hurry!

After them! -Hurry!

Old Madam,...

...didn't they say they'd meet us at the stopover nearby?

Why didn't we see them after walking for two days?

They must have been caught up in something.

Let's head to the nearest safe house and wait for news.

"They're from 48 Strongholds."

"It's the Scarlet Cricket badge."

Father!

"He must be Tong Tianyang,...

...the person who killed my father. Tong Tianyang."

Sheng'er, calm down.

With Tong Tianyang's momentum, we're no match for him.

We must not act recklessly.

Wei Wu.

Take all the men to continue with the search near Huarong.

My...

...old injury relapses and it's not convenient for me to move.

I'll head to Huo Fort while waiting for Master Shen.

All right.

Everyone, come with me!

"This is my chance. I'm going to kill you to avenge my father."

This way, please, Master.

Who's that? -It's the county magistrate.

Jiuniang, it's your sister's death anniversary tomorrow.

However, Disha's disciples are here and a lot is happening.

Can you visit her grave on my behalf?

Me?

You're the one who visits her grave every year.

She would be thankful to you, Brother Zhu.

If I go this year,...

...she'd definitely be happy, too.

I'll go then.

You're in a good mood lately.

Of course,...

...someone visited and even played with me.

A'Fei,...

...bear with it.

You're surrounded by flowers and swallows everyday.

I'm envious of your life.

Master, Disha is here again.

Let's go.

Jiuniang is in a good mood and has a better appetite.

From today onwards, send more dishes to Jiuniang.

Yes.

Sheng'er.

Sheng'er?

Where is he?

Sheng'er!

Where is he?

Hong Yun, Sheng'er is missing. Look for him.

Yes, Madam.

You're a crook. You even pretended to be injured.

You're just a kid.

Yes, I pretended. What can you do about it?

I can still kill you!

Brat, I'm going to end your life.

Old woman, are you blind?

How dare you get in my way!

Brother Shen.

Shen Tianshu?

I guess you're the widow of Xiaoxiang Sect's leader.

It's a surprise...

...to meet you here today.

I have no interest in your business.

I only want to take the kid with me...

...and there won't be any trouble.

I'll let this matter go.

Too bad I don't want anyone to know what I'm doing here today.

Old Madam, don't blame me.

You can only blame yourselves for being unlucky.

Old Madam! -Sheng'er, run!

Don't worry about me. Run!

Go!

Hurry!

"Will I die here?

No, I must protect Sheng'er even if I have to perish with you."

Old Madam!

"If you die, I'll have let Mistress Li down!

Run!

Old Madam!

Old Madam!
