Legend of Fei

Episode 3

Late father built 48 Strongholds as the last resort...

...for the people who are down and out.

It stands alone...

...with no friend nor enemy nor party nor alliance.

I should stick to his last will.

You should also do the same.

Once you step out of the door tomorrow, 48 Strongholds...

...will not care about your living or death.

Yet I care.

Half year later

Father said...

...only the strong gets the right to choose.

Fei.

I ought to break this Qian Ji Formation today.

Mountain and water are immortal.

It depends on when you could break free.

You could've been minced by the formation if I didn't shut it.

Didn't that thief pass through it in a swift?

He has better Qing Gong, that's all.

If I could be better.....

That won't work either. You flipped like a monkey.

Did you take that as a formation for a monkey?

Then,...

...is there a trick to pass the formation?

It is ever-changing with no regular pattern.

There're many things in the world without trick.

There is also no shortcut.

Everything in the world has a regular pattern.

So long as you could find it, you could solve it.

This is the only place.

Use this.

Calm your mind.

Get rid of distractions in your brain.

Close your eyes. Feel it with your heart.

You could sense the direction...

...and know your next move.

Where...

...to put your sabre.

Do you know the name of the method?

Zen with eyes closed.

Well? -The scout reported.

General Wu Fei has been captured.

He is a man in the secular world.

He is close with my father-in-law.

Hadn't Disha made a move, no one could've stopped him...

...due to his skill and agility.

I'm afraid he couldn't make it through this time.

Disha Manor

General Wu Fei.

Stop.

"Qiu Tianjin Green Dog of Disha Manor"

"Shen Tianshu Grey Wolf of Disha Manor"

Leave him to me.

I'm afraid it isn't appropriate.

You're the head of Disha, but he is my captive.

Are you against the Pillar's arrangement?

To my surprise, Disha has turned to serve Yu Wenzhi.

Let's get to the point.

Hand out the Ripple Token that you possess.

I don't understand.

"To General Wu Fei"

These are letters between you and Wang Lin.

They mention...

...a Ripple Token...

...with you.

You just need to hand it to me.

Don't underestimate me.

I heard Zhou Yitang has sent your family...

...back to the south,...

...but could they escape? -You.....

Bring her. -My wife!

Master! -My wife.

I'll ask once again. Where is the Ripple Token?

The children have left safely. Don't worry.

You mustn't tell him.

My wife!

My wife.

Sister, I can't walk anymore. -Hang on there.

Brother Chenfei.

My brother couldn't walk anymore. Can we take a rest?

"Wu Chuchu, Daughter of General Wu Fei"

Are you okay, brother? -I'm okay.

Lady Chuchu, how about this?

Someone could receive us further ahead. Just hang on.

Okay. -Sister.

Why haven't father and mother come to fetch us?

They will come once we arrive at 48 Strongholds.

Don't worry, General Wu.

I'll look after your children for you.

Sister, how much longer? -Soon.

Just follow Brother Chenfei.

Disha.

Search! -Noted.

Qiu Tianjin? Who is he searching for?

Carry on.

Master, Wu Fei's children escaped...

...toward Jingzhou.

All his letters were sent through Jingzhou.

I suppose that wasn't a coincidence.

The children are carrying that token.

48 Strongholds.

They will run into Disha.

I owe 48 Strongholds a favour.

I'll warn them.

How fast could they travel with a child?

Forgive my incapability.

Good-for-nothing!

It seems that they're led by them from 48 Strongholds.

So long as we send more men...

...to stop them along the way,...

...I'm sure...

...I can catch up with them.

Protect Lady Chuchu.

It's you.

I saw you from far. I guess you're in a trouble.

Is there anything that I could help?

Who are you?

Master, my whole family is infected by smallpox.

We're rushing to seek doctor in Jingzhou.

Look.

What is this?

Look.

Don't move!

Where do you come from? Leave now.

Thank you, brother.

Thank you.

Third master.

We'll arrive at Huo Fort further ahead.

Huo Fort is close with 48 Strongholds.

It could be difficult...

...for us if they reach them and Huo...

...has the intention to shelter them.

Stay put for the time being. -Noted.

Send someone to probe in secret.

Observe Gray Wolf. -Noted.

Thanks for your rouge.

Otherwise, I couldn't have forged the smallpox.

You're welcome.

I should thank you for bringing us out of danger.

But a small trick couldn't hold them long.

You should hurry back to 48 Strongholds...

...before falling into danger again.

Why have you been following us?

I've been kidnapping people for years.

Kidnapping Mr. Zhou is not enough...

...so you're next.

Who are you? -Are you from Huo Fort?

We're on the same side.

Their old master is a sworn brother of our old master.

We're from 48 Strongholds.

We're passing by Jingzhou.

We would like to rest in your fort for a few days.

Could you pass the message for us?

So you're from 48 Strongholds.

We should treat you with courteous.

Our old master has just celebrated his birthday.

There're still many guests in the fort.

Please join us. -That's great.

Thank you.

I'm grateful to have your help along the way.

As you see, we're safe.

If so, I'll stop meddling in.

Have a safe trip.

You've come.

Girl.

Today, we'll activate the formation fully.

Be attentive.

I'm talking to you. Get serious.

Throw your stick away. Grab a handy weapon.

I know. -Good.

You're awesome.

Talkative.

That thief was unarmed when he passed Xi Mo River...

...while the formation was fully activated.

Get ready.

Bai Neng, Brother Chenfei took this in the wild for aunt.

Only a few is left. See? I've stolen it for you.

Why don't you bring me to look at Xi Mo River?

Just one look.

You may go to the cliff,...

...but you need the mistress' tablet to go to Xi Mo River.

Why can Fei go there every day? You're bullies.

What are you doing? You've frightened me.

I could throw you into Xi Mo River if you want to look at it.

Don't give him a hard time.

What are you doing? It's my bad, brother.

Forgive me!

I'm wrong!

Stop screaming. I'm just joking.

What is that?

Fei?

Come, brother.

Watch out!

Brother, go and save her now.

I can't.

Not bad.

Isn't this dried peach from mistress? Did she come?

It's too sweet. Awful.

What is that supposed to mean?

What do you mean by this?

I think...

...when you do something,...

...you should consider feeling of others.

For example, you ate a dried peach.

You took a bite,...

...you didn't finish it and yet, you put it back.

It's ugly.

It tastes awful.

Why did you eat it, then?

I didn't know how it tastes before eating it.

Fine.

I think you don't come to practise martial arts,...

...but to torture me.

Fine. You've passed the formation.

Leave now. I don't want to see you again.

Why are you so mean?

Leave now.

I won't play with you anymore.

Girl!

My goodness!

You could behave if I tell your mother to spank you tonight.

Thanks to Mr. Xie. Uncle wouldn't have left if he didn't come.

Then, Fei wouldn't have been so upset.

She has been practising with her sabre...

...at Xi Mo River in the past 6 months.

It's so hard to see her.

Hadn't he come, we wouldn't have known such a person...

...in the vast world.

It's time to go out and experience the world.

This is where we test our disciples.

Zhaihua Platform.

You need to obtain at least 2 paper cuttings...

...within the given time...

...to graduate...

...and hence the chance to leave the mountain.

Among the 2 paper cuttings,...

...you must obtain one from those high stakes...

...and challenge one of the masters...

...who is guarding the stake.

The rest of the paper cuttings could be obtained...

...by challenging disciples of...

...other elders guarding at low stakes.

The more, the better.

Disciples of 48 Strongholds shall get on the Zhaihua Platform.

My brother has been using a double sword,...

...but why now a spear?

You need to use the weapon of whichever clan...

...that you want to challenge.

You can use your own weapon only after obtaining...

...that paper cutting at high stake.

Not bad.

Jinfeng used to obtain 12 paper cuttings at once.

I suppose Sheng...

...wants to follow the example of his father.

Do you think he could obtain 20 paper cuttings?

He seems promising.

Fei, watch Sheng. How many could you obtain?

One? -One?

If so, your mother's wish could be granted.

Stay and study in the fort forever.

Yes, Fei.

2, then.

I would like to challenge Chief of Ming Feng Sect...

...for that paper cutting.

"Kou Dan Elder of 48 Strongholds"

Qian Ji wire.

Thanks for going easy on me.

Uncle Ma, check if there is any broken paper cutting.

I'm sure they are intact when you would say so.

Li Sheng has obtained 15 paper cuttings!

I'll directly obtain that paper cutting at high stake.

I want to challenge mistress.

"Zhao Qiusheng, Zhang Bolin Elders of 48 Strongholds"

She is excellent. -Indeed.

Why do I see Ming Feng's shadow on Fei?

Could it be related to Xi Mo River?

Fei is taken by mistress.

Why does she possess Ming Feng's skills?

She could blend essence of Ming Feng's Move...

...in her own sabre skills...

...and use it against mistress. That's close to flawless.

Fei.

Your father has sent a letter to assign something.

I'll give it to you if you could beat Xiushan Hall.

Otherwise, you'll stay and study in the fort forever.

Poxue Skill.

The real sabre of Poxue won't break even if you hold...

...only a metal blade.

That's because it won't cause mutual destruction.

She has obtained it.

Here.

Fei, it's still early. Why have you come down already?

2 will do, right?

Yes, but you.....

Every disciple in the fort can just get on the platform for once.

Your result will be recorded in Xiushan Hall.

You will only be...

...a laughing stock among your juniors with this result.

2 will do. There is nothing to brag about.

Brother Ma will handle the name tag.

Fei, Sheng, come with me to the Ancestral Hall.

Madam Wang wants to give an assignment.

Ancestral Hall

Mother, what is written in father's letter?

Listen.

It's my disappointing grandson...

...who has added trouble to mistress.

Please don't call it a trouble.

Chenfei is doing it for 48 Strongholds.

What have you assigned to him?

Your father sent a letter not long ago...

...to inform arrival of a guest.

We're asked to send someone to receive the guest.

Chenfei wanted to go out and explore...

...hence he volunteered himself.

He sent a letter a month ago to inform his arrival,...

...but we haven't heard from him since then.

Brother Chenfei has fallen into danger...

...despite his good martial arts.

Should we send more capable men to him?

Who is that guest to get others into trouble?

Shush.

I'll make the trip...

...in person this time.

Fei, Sheng.

Study carefully. The so-called guest...

...is actually General Wu's family.

He is killed by those from the north.

His son and daughter have lost home.

Your father couldn't bear it hence sought help from me.

48 Strongholds have sent 13 people to receive them,...

...but we haven't heard of them until now.

Bandits have run rampant. It wouldn't be easy to travel.

They could've spent a longer time as they're bringing 2 children.

I figure they could arrive soon.

You may receive them with some people if you're worried.

It isn't necessary to bring you both along,...

...but I asked Madam Wang to bring you along to explore.

You mustn't act on your own after leaving the mountain.

I'll break your legs if you dare to stir any trouble.

You knew your sabre could break, but yet you expressed no fear.

That's because you knew I wouldn't hurt you.

That isn't Poxue Skill, but a petty trick.

It's wisdom still.

It's proven effective so long as the purpose can be achieved.

Is this a compliment?

If you know the sabre will break in a real situation,...

...you may hesitate.

You don't need to deny it. Everyone fears death.

Even the slightest hesitation is hesitation.

The sabre will break no matter what I think.

Could Poxue be a skill that bites off more than it can chew?

It's indestructible.

Fei.

Do you know the number of top practitioners in the world?

A lot. -Yes, a lot.

There're always more people out there.

No one would self-claim as the best,...

...but everyone is a child of their parents.

They're made of flesh and blood.

They all learn talking and walking from scratch.

Gravels were once mountains.

You were once our past.

Fei, gods and ghosts are beyond the universe.

Those travelling in the mortal world...

...are ordinary people.

Why wouldn't you trust that your sabre is indestructible?

Watch carefully. I'll teach only once.

Poxue Skill has 9 moves in total.

It is invented by your grandfather.

It's an aggressive sabre.

Great Uncle Yu.

Hold it and stay there.

You usually greet me as an old fellow.

Today, you greet me as Great Uncle Yu.

Are you up to something?

What could I be up to? Aren't you pleased to finally hear...

...a proper greet from me?

Are you only pleased when I greet you as an old fellow?

It's more like you and it's more relieving.

Sit. Come.

Wait a second.

What a relief.

Why do you come?

I'm going to leave the mountain. -Good.

You.....

Have you passed Xiushan Hall?

Not bad.

Come.

Tell me which master...

...that you've defeated today.

Mistress.

Excellent.

Have some tea.

Did your mother let you win?

I suppose so.

She has taught me...

...Poxue Skill.

What kind of great hero do you want to become?

I never want to become a hero.

I think...

...a great hero...

...doesn't depend on the number of people...

...that she has defeated and killed in life,...

...but the number of people...

...that she has helped and salvaged in the secular world.

They're unlike some people...

...who claim to be a king, a ruler after mastering...

...a petty ability,...

...but don't worry. One day,...

...they will lose...

...miserably in the secular world.

Ming Feng Sect once...

...offended too many people...

...for information trading.

In the end, they're pushed to a dead end...

...by Disha.

Hu Tianying Disha Manor

Touguqing is no ordinary poison.

You'll soon become stiff and die of the poison.

Stay and wait for your doom.

They're a group of spies who see only money.

Cut the crap and do it. "Lu Tiankuang, Ox of Disha"

Someone appeared at that time.

He is...

...your grandfather.

I'm Li Zheng. "Founder of 48 Strongholds"

This is 48 Strongholds.

You've taken Guiyang Pill.

The poison has been cleared.

Your life wouldn't be threatened so long as you stay...

...in this damp environment.
