Episode 16

My younger sister hasn't caused you any trouble working here, has she?

Not at all!

Jianqiu is very smart, and also hardworking.

She picks up everything quickly, everyone here likes her.

She didn't cause you any trouble.

But you have caused me trouble.

Director Yang, I don't understand what you're saying.

First, you gave her stocks.

And then it was the mediacy fee.

You guys want to make use of Yang Jianqiu and try to bring me down, right?

No, not at all. It's definitely your imagination.

Those are all things that Jianqiu deserves.

That's a lie!

Let me tell you, don't ever think about using her again.

Otherwise, I will definitely make you pay.

Try it out if you dare.

Yes, I got it.

However much she owes you, we will return every penny.

Another thing, transfer Yang Jianqiu out of the Credit Department.

Isn't transferring her something very easy for you to do?

Yes,

I only need to say the word.

It's quite detailed.

Of course.

Wang Bolin became Dahua's sharefolder after my mom died.

And then he came the CEO.

He changer Dahua into Kerui.

Qian Cheng resigned from the university

and became the director of the Pharmaceutical Factory.

Devils.

As soon as I started focusing on Wang Bolin,

each of the problematic points started to go away.

But we have no evidence.

I believe that one day, he will definitely slip up.

Dad.

- This is my coworker, Xia Yuan. - Hello.

Hello. How is it, are you feeling better?

Oh, I'm fine. I just drank too much last night.

I am sorry to bother you. I will be leaving soon.

No hurry. Have a meal before you leave.

Dad, whats going on? We're in the middle of discussing our case.

You two can continue. I'll keep this short.

Jiaqi bought this new shirt for me.

It's a bit colder out here. You should put this on.

No thank you.

Jiaqi bought it for you, it'll be unsuitable if I wear it.

It's fine, I'm approving. Just put it on.

It's a really good brand that I picked from the web.

All the more reason for me to not wear it.

It's fine. I won't be overly polite with you.

I'll send you the info later, you can just buy a new one for my dad.

She is being naughty.

Jiaqi, go pack some apples, let Little Xia bring some home.

Got it. I'll pack it when he heads out.

No, go do it now. Your memory is terrible,

go do it now.

Fine, I'll go.

- Pick the large ones! - Got it.

- Little Xia - Yes.

I have something to ask of you.

Go ahead.

I'm all too familiar with Jiaqi's stubborn personality.

She will definitely investigate this case to the end.

But the details of the case are quite complicated.

So, it will be dangerous. I'd like you to take care of her.

Rest assured.

Brother, why are you here?

Brother.

I didn't think that you would show up at the bank.

What did you two talk about?

Is this over?

It is.

Listen to me, I have had your manager

transferred you out of the Credit Department.

Out of the Credit Department?

What?

You can't bear to leave?

Also, return this apartment, get ready to move out.

Move out?

Why?

Is this the kind of place for you to live?

With your salary, can you afford this place?

Because of you,

I didn't suggest to investigate Xingaoke

during the council meeting.

I was betraying my conscience and integrity.

I have been police for 20 years.

I always believed that I was an upright, righteous policeman.

But now I realize that I was wrong.

I might make serious mismakes

for my own benefits.

I feel extremely guilty.

I think you're blowing this out of proportion.

You've been a cop for twenty years, and never

made any mistake in any of your cases.

How are you not a good policeman?

Who can be a saint?

What's wrong with making a small mistake?

Jianqiu. Are you even the same Miao Miao that I used to know?

First was Kerui's stocks.

Now it's the mediacy fee.

What else will it be in the future?

If coming here to the city has caused you to become so greedy,

I would rather send you back to the countryside!

Right. I shouldn't stay here.

I should spend my entire life in the country.

I should always be oppressed by others, unable to lift up my head, right?

Brother, I took his stock and the mediacy fee.

You must really look down on me.

Honestly, I also look down on myself.

But it's alright, I've gotten used to being looked down on.

I feel that it's awesome to be able to have lots of money.

I can buy whatever I want, rent whichever apartment I want.

If I want to buy something for my family, I can just buy it.

I can eat anything I want, I can do whatever I want.

I just know that as long as I have money, no one will be able to look down on me.

We grew up in the countryside.

We were born into a hard life.

Especially you, I know.

In order to let me complete my four years of college,

you delayed your own education. I still feel guilty towards you.

Because of this, I can't stand by and watch you walk down the path of crime.

How did I commit a crime?

He said it was the rule.

So many people are taking the mediacy fee.

Why doesn't the police

arrest all of them? Why is it that when it comes to me,

I'm the one who's committed a crime, who needs to go to jail?

Besides, it's not like the people who borrowed money won't pay it

back. As long as they pay back the loan, isn't everything just fine?

Yang Jianqiu!

There are some things that many people will do.

But that doesn't mean that it is the right thing to do.

You're almost thirty years old, you should understand this by now.

Also, why does this Zhao Haiqing

continuously give you so much benefits? Have you thought about this?

He's trying to use you!

Listen to me, give back the money.

Don't ever take what doesn't belong to you.

This rule applies to everything.

Fine.

I will give back the money.

I can't move.

Mom and dad are coming in a few days.

They have been working for their whole lives,

I don't want them to live in a shitty place with me.

I will pay for your rent.

That's it.

Daddy is back.

My daughter.

Daddy, I don't want to play the piano.

You always do this when your daddy comes home. Practiice more.

She is tired. Let her rest for a bit.

We pay so much for her tuition.

Daddy, I don't want to play. I want you to tell story.

Alright, I will tell a story for you.

I'll go warm up the soup.

But...

my little princess, promise daddy,

after I tell the story,

you must practice the piano on time.

Your examination is coming up.

I know.

What kind of story do you want to hear?

I want to hear the story of you catching bad guys.

Catching bad guys.

I don't have any story about catching bad guys today.

How about this,

-I will tell the story of Sleeping Beauty? -No.

I think good people will be happy if you catch the bad guys.

I think you are a big hero.

I want to be a big hero and catch bad guys with you when I grow up.

No. I think you should be a pianist.

Let me take care of the bad guys, okay?

Do you know why I want to tell you the story of Sleeping Beauty?

I believe you will be a beauty too when you grow up.

Chief Zhang.

You shall start first, don't wait up for me. I have something important here.

I will go right away after I am done.

Alright. You guys start first.

This is the mature Puer. It's that alright?

Yes, yes, it can cleanse the body.

Let me turn off my phone.

Why did you ask me out, Jianqiu?

I have deposit the 500000 Yuan in here.

Take it.

What does that mean?

I don't deserve this.

I feel insecure about holding it.

It's for you, you should take it. Whats' insure about it?

You have been working here for a long time. Your effort was appreciated.

You deserve it.

Take it as our bank's gratitude.

No, manager.

Thank you for your help.

I really appreciate it. But my brother told me that

it will be illegal to take it.

Please take it back.

Take it, come on.

Take it.

Alright, alright.

Well...

You are too honest and cautious.

It not your fault. People like us are the same.

Only you and I knew about this,

nothing would go wrong.

You told me it's illegal last time.

We all want money.

But I can't break the law.

It's all past now.

You got scared because your brother said this is not right, didn't you?

Jianqiu,

there are unspoken rules in every business. It's not a big deal.

Whether it's illegal or not depends on a certain aspects.

From your brother's stand of point,

everything other than your salary is dangerous,

illegal even.

That's because he didn't know about our business.

You

took the risk and helped your friend out.

Where did you spend the money?

You spent it on daily expenses, didn't you?

Those new industries like Xingaoke

are aim to benefit the people, aren't they?

We don't expect the outsiders to know.

But for ourselves,

we know what's right

and what's beneficial.

We will feel satisfied and happy

when we are doing the right things.

What does the old saying go?

To gain money in the right way.

It will be a decent thing to do

as long as we know that the money will be used to benefit the people.

It's a good thing.

Isn't it?

We did the right thing. We have nothing to be worried about.

I won't put you in a difficult position if you insist to give it back.

But like I said,

tell me if you have any trouble.

I will do everything I can to help you.

Okay?

Thank you, manager.

I am good.

Ahh.

Jiaqi has told me about

Xiaohui and you.

I failed as your Master.

I didn't find out myself.

I was busy earlier so I didn't pay attention to you.

She is too gossiping.

Yuan,

breakup is a good thing

for men.

See it this way,

the breakup has a revolutionary impact on a man's growth.

I have suffered too.

Sister is not your first love?

Well,

keel it between you and me.

Before you sister,

I had a dramatic relationship.

So deep.

I remember

I was a senior student at Public Security University.

I broke my leg during training.

I went to the hospital.

I stayed in it for over a month.

At that time,

I met a nurse.

She was like an angel.

She took good care of me.

And then we both

grew feelings for each other.

I had it all planed well.

I thought that I would get a job soon.

After 6 months,

we can get married. She agreed.

But you know how our work is.

I was so busy.

After a while,

I kind of cold her.

At this point,

there came a group of doctors in her hospital.

There was this guy,

he was handsome and talented.

He had better skin than me.

Better skin? A lot of people has better skin than you.

Cut if off.

The most important thing is,

he made his name during one surgery.

He came the star at their hospital.

Also,

she was a nurse.

They had a lot in common.

They worked well together.

Then I was excluded.

I was so upset.

I went to him.

I beat him up

before we got to talk.

I knocked down two teeth of him.

But because of that fight,

she

left me for good.

I was in such pain.

I saw no point in living.

I was drinking all day at home.

Right at this point,

you sister showed up.

She talked me out and encouraged me.

She was

my life savor.

Her father

was not the mayor.

He was just a secretary at a state-owned enterprise.

I visited her parents.

They were not happy about our relationship.

But she insisted to be with me till now.

So,

breakup is not necessarily a bad thing for men.

There are so many people out there.

There will be a right one for you.

It needs fate to be together.

You and Xiaohui didn't have that fate.

Don't let this affect your work.

Come on, see?

Life

is like this glass of wine.

It doesn't have to be strong.

Mild one is the best one.

Okay?

Master.

What's the name of that nurse?

Liu Danyang.

Why did you ask?

Nothing.

I just remember that I haven't seen sister for a while.

What do you mean?

Don't scare me.

This...

Don't scare me.

I got goosebumps!

Just treat me better from now on.

Master.

A toast to you.

Forget everything I said, okay?

Auntie Zhang.

You just ate?

I am eating.

I have wired the rent today. Did you get it?

Yes, yes. I was about to talk to you about it.

Our lease is almost up.

Yes, yes. Come on in.

I was thinking about it.

I want to renew the lease.

No need.

Auntie, sit here.

No need to trouble.

I don't want to rent it anymore. I plan to take it back.

Why?

The lease is closing soon, right?

I need it for my family. You shall start looking for new place.

Auntie, did I do anything wrong?

I cleaned the house every week.

See? I protected it very well. Nothing was damaged

I didn't touch any of the wine.

Even these windows, I wipe them every two weeks.

Why are you going to stop renting it?

It's not you. You are the best tenant I have ever met.

My son got a girlfriend.

They are getting married.

She is not from here.

So I want to renovate the apartment

and make this their new home.

Make sense?

Auntie, it's good for you.

Congratulations.

Thank you, little Yang.

How about this?

I will return the rent back.

I shall not bother you.

Better start looking for apartment.

So that I can clean it up as soon as possible. Alright?

I shall not bother you. Go have your dinner, it's getting cold.

Auntie, take care.

Bye.

Welcome.

You waited long, didn't you?

I just finished up my case.

I know you are busy.

Eat.

You look down.

What's wrong?

Are you

still mad at me?

I wouldn't end up like this

if you didn't tell me to give the money back?

What's wrong? End up like what?

I finally see it.

No money, no luck.

It's like god is giving you a hard time on purpose.

The landlord stopped renting the apartment right after I gave the money back.

She wanted it back for her son's new home. She even told me to move out right away.

It had nothing to do with whether you have money or not.

Of course, she would ask you to leave if her son is getting married.

Then mom called me and said that our house will be removed. They will staying with me.

Where am I going to put them?

So sudden? Why didn't she tell me first?

I rented the house for the sake of them.

They knew it's inconvenient to live with you, sister in law, and Taotao.

What does that mean?

I am their son. There's no inconvenience at all.

Don't worry about it. They will be staying with me.

You shall worry about your new apartment.

I will wire you some money.

Miaomiao, you are still upset about giving the money back.

But think about it, did it belong to you?

Even if you've kept it, do you feel safe to spend it?

See.

Mom and dad's visit, you work,

and your new apartment

will be solved eventually.

As long as we are together, there's nothing we can't deal with.

Hurry up and eat, it's getting cold.

Okay, okay.

So many lectures.

I need more.

More? Here.

You can have it.

You can eat so much.

Here.

Alright.

Come on.

Do a foot bath.

You have been behaving well all night.

What do you want?

You are smarter than me.

I can only be smart about you.

Tell me.

Well.

My parents called.

Their house will be removed.

So they don't have a place to live now.

I want them to live here.

So many people.

Right. The county informed them too late.

Also,

Jianqiu always want to have them here.

Right. Let them live with Jianqiu.

Jianqiu rented an apartment with two bedrooms.

Don't mention it.

Her landlord is taking it back for her son's wedding.

So Jianqiu can only rent a smaller one now.

She got a smaller apartment now that your parents are coming.

So everything she said was nothing.

We are responsible for it in the end.

What do you mean?

Even she is staying in the big apartment now,

is it wrong for me to have our parents live with us for a while?

That's not what I meant.

Don't be so sensitive.

I will

clear out Taotao's room.

You do need to clear it out.

However, let's agree on this.

We have a two bedrooms apartment too.

Taotao will be living in our room when mom and dad are living in her room.

Yes. What's wrong?

Taotao is not a baby anymore. What are we going to do?

Last time dad was here, he broke Taotao's toy. Taotao was upset for a long time.

They don't have anywhere to live now.

There's room at their son's place.

Are they going to stay in the hotel?

I didn't mean that.

I was just telling you the situation.

Anyway, they will be staying in Taotao's room.

Taotao can live with us. Or I can sleep on the couch if you want.

That's it.

Old Ma, I won taday.

Weird.

Why didn't they take my bites today?

You won because you were a free man before.

You were calm.

Now our places have been switched.

You are the CEO. I am the free man.

Surely I would catch more.

Honestly, Old Wang.

When I was working in the government,

I didn't know it's so hard to run a company.

Of course, it will cost some effort.

However, Old Ma.

The council didn't agree on starting the investigation,

solute to that with water.

Old Wang, your connections were very impressive.

I have been asking around.

It was truly intense.

What's intense about it?

You have seen a lot. Don't worry.

I am relax now.

Hey, Old Ma.

Now is the time to stay sharp.

Those people in the Public Security Bureau won't just give up.

You are saying that...

They will be able to notice it once our price changes.

We must control the people in order to control the price.

Old Ma.

If we have people write repot for us,

do you think it will be better?

I have prepared it for you, check it.

Here.

The summary is all done. You can use it.

Check the first one.

From Kerui to Xingaoke,

what has Ma Jianshe changed?

Old Ma, you overrated me.

This is all your effort.

We got this far only because of your great work.

We have the same goal.

The only way to improve is by climbing up on the giant's shoulder.

I know, I know.

The five Gamma Knifes funded by

Beijiang City Xiaogaoke Investment Limited company,

is being put into use in our hospital.

This is the first time we have the Gamma Knife.

Please welcome the CEO of Xingaoke,

Mr.Ma Jianshe to give us a speech.

Firstly, thank you, Dean.

Thanks to our professionals.

Thanks to our reporters.

We are honored

to contribute our effort

to the medical community.

You look better.

What are you reading?

Xingaoke invested in a couple of more projects yesterday.

You started to care now?

Who said Xingaoke is not his business?

Alright, no joke.

I need to tell you something.

What?

When we were at the council meeting,

both you and Director Yang looked off.

I know why you were off now.

But what about Director Yang?

What's wrong about him?

We agreed that

we would convince them to allow our investigation.

They were hesitated after my speech,

Shouldn't Director Yang have said something

about the importantce?

Maybe they would change their mind.

But Director Yang changed his attitude.

Are you saying that

he did it on purpose to let Xingaoke slide?

I am just suspecting it.

No way. He has been a cop for 20 years.

Go ask around here. Everybody knows his character.

I can't have you suspect him.

But he did say nothing.

How do you explain that?

You were talking about Xingaoke, weren't you?

Yes.

I did fight for it during the meeting.

You have your doubts.

But do you know that

Xingaoke is more complicated

then we expected.

So what should we do now

is to investigate it secretly.

At least we know that

some are willing to cooperate with us,

some are not.

You support the investigation?

I am afraid you won't investigate.

We have been working on

improving the life standard.

The Gamma Knifes we donated

are only a small portion.

Please follow up

on our future updates.

We will provide a better life...

Do you know where to start now?

I got it.

I am getting something to eat.

I wronged him.

Alright. He gave us the direction. We must make a move.

Starting from the Gamma Knives.

The Gamma Knife

is a high tech product from the end of last century.

A wound-free method like this

was a revolutionary progress.

No wound, no bleeding, and no infection.

It can cure the disease precisely.

My dad is the one waiting for treatment. He is not doing well.

I am really worried. I want him to get a surgery as soon as possible.

After we introduced the Gamma Knives,

there were many people coming here for surgeries.

You must wait a while.

But I saw on the news that

you have five of them.

Isn't that enough?

We only had two.

The remaining ones haven't arrived yet.

We shall go through the case first.

If the condition is really bad, we can make it happen earlier.

That will be great! Thank you so much, Doctor.

You heard that?

He said they only have two.

What about the other three?

I heard that.

It doesn't mean anything.

However, it could be our breaking point.

But we can come here often.

They will suspect us.

I have someone in mind.

Sit.

What do you need?

Xingaoke, have you heard of it?

Xingaoke?

They sell VCD?

The one that was on the news a lot.

The one with raising share price.

I bought their stock.

I don't want to lose my money. Can you help me look into it?

They claimed that they've invested in many projects.

I want to know that

if it's real

and what the current process is.

Are you interested?

Why are you laughing?

Don't fool me.

I know you didn't buy their stock. Even if you did,

you wouldn't ask me to look into it.

What? After you guys after Xingaoke now?

You can leave if you keep saying this. I will find someone else.

Wait, don't find someone else. I can do it for you.

I can do it.

It's our duty to cooperate with the police.

Good.

Any pay?

I will pay for your expenses

and an additional fee.

You will have it once it's done.

Okay, you are being so generous.

I didn't finish yet.

I am going to buy you dinner tonight. Right here.

Okay, I understand.

I will look into it now.

Okay, I will take care of it. I am off now.
