[Episode 22]

If you torture him, I'll die with him.

If you let him live...

I'll let him tell you willingly.

Are you that capable?

It's because he's fond of me.

He'll agree to anything I say.

That's why you're willing to risk your life for him?

You're also fond of him?

- Dig his eyes out first! - Yes.

I am fond of him.

Muyun Lu.

I am fond of you.

That's why you'll do as I say, right?

I don't like you.

I don't like her.

I won't do as she says.

Let her leave right away.

Whatever it is you want, just come at me.

If I even as much as make a sound...

I'll be insulting my surname, Muyun!

Drag him away.

Are you worried that I'll feel guilty if he dies?

Who are you?

I'm here to take them away.

Interesting.

It has nothing to do with him. Let him go!

Which of them do you actually like?

Your Highness.

Leave him to me.

Your Highness bears the great responsibility

in restoring your sovereignty.

For your safety, please step aside for now.

You must find out where the Sovereign Seal is.

Can you still handle Tian Luo’s Nonuple Net?

I've been practicing every day.

Not once would I dare forget how to cast it.

- Ying Feng! - Present!

- Ying Yun! - Present!

Hall Master, they are twin brothers.

They share a bond of telepathy.

They move in sync.

Ever since I took them in, I've been training them.

Now they have been skilled in it for over 10 years.

Kill!

Yes!

What spooky thing is this?

This is Tian Luo’s Nonuple Net.

Whoever enters our net is like prey on a spider's web.

If you move your arm

your arm will be severed from your body.

If you move your legs, they will be removed.

There's no possibility of getting out of it alive.

It's just a pity that there isn't any authentic Tian Luo's snare wire left.

We can only use these wires that are visible to the eye.

But it's good enough to hurt someone.

Muyun Lu!

Where is the Sovereign Seal?

Wang Duo.

Don't hurt her!

Old Man Long!

What should I do to make you free this young lady?

Draw me a map that will lead us to the seal.

Then I'll let her go.

Muyun Lu!

Did you hear him?

Did you hear him?

It's just a lousy stone.

They can have it!

A stone?

That's the world!

Does it mean more to you than the one you love?

The world...

Whether it becomes mine or not...

I don't care.

But when it comes to my mind that...

If it is because of me that...

this empire falls into the hands of another family...

I shall become the sinner of Muyun for life!

I...

I can't bear that burden.

Wang Duo.

Is one's surname so important?

Does invisible glory matter more than the blood and life of your beloved?

The closer you're related to the royal family...

the less you can stay true to your own disposition.

Love and passion fleet by like a passing scene.

A man should have the breadth of mind that embraces the world.

As for the other matters...

he's not at liberty to be attached to them.

Su Yu Ning...

If your life is jeopardized...

I shall die with you.

But if I am to tell them where the Sovereign Seal is...

I can't.

Fine.

Since you said so, I'm relieved.

Su Yu Ning!

From now on until the end of time, you are mine.

I don't care if you're the destined empress.

Nor do I care about the Muyuns' sovereignty or the Murus' glory.

All I want is to have you by my side.

As long as I shall live.

From this day forth, I'll protect you!

Why are you so frantic?

Have you heard from Prince Lu?

General, look!

Prince Lu's Soul Harmony has returned.

Soul Harmony never leaves His Highness.

He must have had... an accident.

[Muru Manor, Tian Qi City]

Prince Lu has gone missing?

How absurd Di Huo is!

Why has he only reported it today?

His Highness left Shang Yang Pass over a month ago.

Upon departure, he said he was going in search of an item

not knowing when he'd return.

He had Lion Fang Guards with him, so--

Where exactly did His Highness go?

Qing Yu Ridge.

Order all Lion Fang Guards to search within Qing Yu Ridge right away.

They must find Prince Lu.

Moreover, do not report this matter to the palace

as it might only make the competition for heir apparent even worse.

His Majesty can no longer handle such torment.

What is the matter?

Father, you've not been informed.

The Lion Fang Guards are now...

Nanku Qi has also planted his captains!

I no longer have any authority over them!

Your Majesty.

The Duan Empire's military power...

From this day forth...

I'll share my military power with Chief Secretariat Nanku Qi

When I entered Tian Qi City

I reported to Master Nanku Qi first about Prince Lu's disappearance.

Great General, forgive me!

I had orders from my superiors that I had to obey.

Nanku Qi!

Masters, please enjoy.

Why have you meddled with the Muru family's Lion Fang Guards?

Since we now share the right to military power...

today, I happen to have matters to discuss with Great General Muru.

Lion Fang Guards are in charge of protecting the royal family.

However...

they are all from the Muru family.

This is...

inappropriate.

They should be disbanded.

In your opinion...

who should be in charge?

Why can't the princes and arch princes raise their own armed forces?

Should arch princes be allowed to have their own armed forces

what are we to do when they grow too powerful

and no longer obey command?

That is what His Majesty should be concerned about.

Great General Muru.

If you're upset about losing your authority in deploying troops

you can tell me directly.

You don't have to act as if you're worried on His Majesty's behalf.

It's as if...

you're showing off just how loyal you are.

Master Nanku.

Why would you say that I'm disloyal?

Great General Muru's third son...

Han Jiang.

Where is he now?

It's said that your third son will rob the Muyun family of their throne.

Great General Muru now asks to get your military power back.

Are you trying to pave the way for your son?

Master Nanku.

I recently met up with a merchant.

This man was once a guard in the palace.

Four years ago, when His Majesty was out hunting at Deer Mountain

a lady-in-waiting, Su Yu Ning, unfortunately fell of a cliff.

It was this guard who pushed her.

He should be punished according to the law.

Where is this man now?

Great General.

If you have any concern and hesitate to arrest him

I'll order my men to do it.

It was also a lady-in-waiting who instigated him.

This lady-in-waiting comes from a prestigious family.

She promised the guard a large quantity of goldlings.

He then disappeared from the palace after he did her bidding.

My son, Han Shan, has been secretly investigating this for years.

Recently, he finally found that man.

Master Nanku.

Can you guess which lady-in-waiting bribed him into committing such a crime?

It was Master Nanku's daughter.

Nanku Yue Li.

What is it that you want?

Master Nanku.

From now on...

please stay out of all military affairs.

Back then, I only shared my military power with you

so as to uphold His Majesty's dignity.

I have no intention to rebel.

However...

I can't put myself in a position that can cause His Majesty to doubt me.

You should have some self-awareness.

Let your intentions show and harbor any ambition.

Muru Shuo...

I thought you were only good at fighting battles.

It now seems that

you know just as much as the others

when it comes to stabbing someone in the back.

I'm impressed.

I've been in the royal court for a long time.

I have to learn a bit of everything.

Give me some time.

How much time do you need?

- Not much. - The sooner, the better.

Uncle, why have you brought me to my maternal granduncle's tearoom?

Ever since my father died in the accident...

I haven't dared to step in here.

He Ge...

Tell me.

In a lifetime, what is it that we are after?

It's definitely to attain the best thing in the world.

Indeed.

Although I'm fighting hard for it...

things might not end well.

But at least it's better than being frightened of even having ambition.

Instead of cowering and living timidly for the rest of my life

this would be far more interesting.

Uncle, you've asked me over.

What exactly do you wish to tell me?

Yue Li...

She's always been close to you since you were children.

I wish to hand her over to you from now on.

Only you...

You're the only one who can offer her the life she wants.

I just don't know if...

If I asked that you carry out a task for me tomorrow night...

would you dare to do it?

I'm at your disposal, Uncle.

The emperor...

Would you dare to do it?

Tomorrow night?

Tomorrow night.

How is His Majesty?

He's conscious.

But he can't move.

He cannot utter a word.

Very good.

You may all go now.

- Yes. - Yes.

I've already ordered the Helan Clan to stir up trouble in Han Prefecture.

Muyun Han...

He can only remain to safeguard Han Prefecture.

He won't be back for the time being.

Muyun Lu...

We do not know if he's still alive or not.

Muru Shuo is already defenseless in Tian Qi City.

I've bribed all the guards in the palace.

Right now...

it's perfect to put it into action.

Put what into action?

His Majesty is of no use to us now.

We might as well get rid of him.

Our new emperor is getting impatient.

How dare you?

I won't allow it.

My little sister...

You should get this straight.

He dies and I live?

What will I live for?

Why would you say anything this foolish?

Your son will be the emperor.

You'll be the empress dowager.

You can have anything you want.

What else do you need to live for?

Aren't men just as foolish?

You'd fight to risk your lives over power and authority

or the likes that women don't understand at all.

Listen.

Muyun He Ge has already forged a Sovereign Seal.

Should His Majesty pass away

no one could identify the authenticity of that seal.

He could then take the throne.

Both you and your son will then enjoy a lifetime without worries.

If...

If we miss this opportunity...

If one day, we're exposed of forging the Sovereign Seal...

will Muyun He Ge even have a chance to live?

How can a mother be so selfish?

Let me think it over.

I'll have to think about it.

Don't bother, Your Highness.

Return to the palace!

I...

I'm not here to ask you for a plan.

Wu Ru Yi!

Greetings, Master Nanku.

Send away that royal physician in His Majesty's chamber with an excuse.

This--

It needs only a brief moment.

Master Nanku, what is it for?

Do you really wish to know?

Master Nanku!

I don't wish to know!

I don't wish to know anything!

Go and get it done!

Yes!

Your handwriting on the medical records is so sloppy.

Isn't that making things hard for someone like me who isn't well-read?

The empress inquires after His Majesty's condition every two hours.

How am I to report to her?

I'll re-write it now.

Head over to the side room and get it written properly.

Yes.

What's happening today?

Why are there so many of our men guarding His Majesty's quarters today?

It's three to five times the usual number.

Why haven't I met you before?

Are you in charge of guarding His Majesty's quarters?

I've just been re-assigned here.

I'm here to learn my way around the palace.

Unknowingly, I ended up here.

Get going!

Your Majesty.

I'm doing this out of patriotism.

You haven't been able to attend the royal court for so long.

And you've still not decided on a crown prince.

In the royal court..

all officials are now in a panic.

Should this continue...

it will definitely result in chaos.

If times of discord shall arise...

the people will suffer.

We might as well...

Right now, if Your Majesty suffers a bit...

Don't worry, Your Majesty.

Soon...

It will all be over.

There's one other matter to report to Your Majesty.

Prince Lu...

He's been missing for over a month.

I'm afraid he's unlikely to be alive.

If Your Majesty gets to the netherworld soon

you might be in time to reunite with Prince Lu!

Let go!

Let go!

Let go!

Let go!

Let go of me!

Let go of me!

Let go of me!

Let go of me!

Let go!

Let go!

Let go!

You gave this to me on our wedding.

This one...

You gave this to me when I turned 16 years old.

It was the first time you told me that you like me.

The moon was exceptionally full that night.

The begonias in the garden were in full blossom.

Your clothes were scented with...

snowbell blossoms.

Empress! Your Highness!

Your Highness!

Your Highness told me to visit His Majesty!

His Majesty, he's...

He passed away!

Did you take a good look at him?

Did you really?

I really took a good look at him.

Your Majesty...

Today, you...

You gave me the best present of all.

My son...

The world shall be his.

The world...

It's now mine?

What happened?

General Yu, it's an important matter.

Prince He Ge, you can't enter!

You may all step out.

Yes.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

We're nearly there.

I already have the Sovereign Seal.

It just needs to be approved by that old man, Muru Shuo.

Yue Li...

Our greatest dream...

is about to come true.

Yue Li?

How should Your Majesty address me?

Empress.

My Empress Nanku.
