[Episode 6]

Affairs of the world must first be destroyed and then established.

Although the March Moon Sect believes in natural selection

I, Mo Yu Chen...

can't bear to see the living suffer.

However, that half-human, half-Charmer prince in the palace

has already met the son Muru Shuo abandoned.

The tragedy of Novoland can no longer be avoided.

Only if you take me to seek audience with His Majesty

can there be a chance for me to fulfill your wish.

Should you think that it's beneath you

to collaborate with the March Moon Sect...

I'll take my leave now.

You really came back.

How did you know that we were coming?

Since they sent away all the guards

I knew this day was sure to come.

Thank you for looking after my mother all these years.

Don't go in there.

You'll regret it.

You're really weird.

Why would he regret seeing his own mother?

Moreover, it's been said that Prince Sheng's mother is gorgeous.

Why don't you want him to see her?

You'll regret it.

Sheng...

Who are you?

Sheng! My son!

Sheng!

I must have met you in the past.

You haven't.

You didn't even turn around.

How do you know that we've never met?

I'm sure it's you.

You saved me.

You've mistaken me for someone else.

Can you turn around to speak to me?

You've really got the wrong person!

Hey!

You're a lady-in-waiting.

Please conduct yourself with respect!

I just want to thank you!

If anything comes up in the future, feel free to come to me!

My name is Su Yu Ning!

Su Yu Ning...

Why would you keep me alive?

Why would you keep me alive?

Swallow it.

As long as you take this pill, you can survive.

Why would you make me--

Why would you keep me alive?

Why would you keep me alive?

I want you alive.

I like to visit you.

The most beautiful woman of the Great Duan Empire.

How was your day?

After your son saw what you look like...

he must have been petrified.

Yin Rong...

Although neither of us won...

I feel better that I get to visit you often.

I'm here to see her. And you.

You took the Heart Wrencher poison.

As long as you're still alive

it means that the secret is rotting away inside you.

[Great Duan Empire, Yongning Reign 15th Year]

[Huai An City, Wan Prefecture]

Your Highness, Mister Mo's confidential letter is here.

[Lord of Wan, Muyun Luan] The hunting trip will start soon.

I can't wait.

Arch Prince Ye, what are you looking forward to?

Madam.

Your Highness.

My dear.

I can't wait to send some gifts to my younger brother.

Mu Yuan.

Present this armor that I've had the Wise tribe craft

for three years to His Majesty.

Yes.

Your Highness, you've cultivated your temperament

through fishing and gardening for years.

Why are there military drills in Wan Prefecture again recently?

What military drills?

They are a bunch of fools!

For all that fuss in a day, they only hunted a few boars.

It's not even enough for our sons to snack on.

Why is Your Highness conducting military drills?

My dear, you're indeed a true Muru.

You're keeping an eye on me for General Muru.

I'm just joking.

I've heard that the emperor is going on a hunting trip soon.

I just suddenly feel this itch in me.

This morning, I had the servants bring me my almost rusted armor.

I just put half of it on...

My dear, guess what happened?

I pulled on the knee armor, and my old legs are so stiff!

My dear, have you seen any men hopping their way to a war horse?

Listen, it's humid in Wan Prefecture.

Once you're here for a long time, your temper grows mild

and you lose the drive to kill.

All that is left is tenderness.

All that I wish to do now is to enjoy food with you

and spend our life in merriment.

Your Highness, don't joke around.

One day, should Great Duan be in peril

who else but my husband could pacify the unrest?

Even my family's Muru Cavalry might take a step back

when facing Wan Prefecture's Red Gold Army.

My dear, you're teasing me again?

Novoland is huge.

Who would dare pick a fight under the family crest of the purple Qilin beast?

I no longer have any desire to rule the world.

My dear, answer me.

Is one's mind broader, or the world?

It's one's mind.

Exactly.

I, Muyun Luan, have already won the affection of my wife.

Why would I still want this hell of the world?

My dear, we have vast stretches of land and an abundance of resources here.

I only wish to spend my lifetime with you in merriment.

Live out our days together.

That is what pleases me the most.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Here, get up.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Drop the formalities today.

It's just the two of us.

It's just two brothers chatting away.

Muru Shuo...

I have a favor to ask of you.

Your Majesty, please do tell.

Arch Prince Ye, Muyun Luan, has sent me armor.

I should also send him something in return for his gift.

What should I send him?

Sit.

Muru Shuo.

Send him 1,000 war horses that we bred in Han Prefecture.

Your Majesty, I find it inappropriate to allow an arch prince to own war horses.

If he dares to accept them...

send in more troops to Shang Yang Pass.

Seize the main passage into Wan Prefecture.

I accept the decree.

Do you think that I'd be ruthless to my own sibling?

I wouldn't dare think so.

Arch Prince Ye, Muyun Luan...

He had been my role model since I was a child.

When we were children, my father favored him.

I was too indecisive and gentle.

I'm not cut out to be an emperor.

However, up to this day

I think that I'm a better emperor that he could be.

Muyun Luan is a very harsh man.

He's accustomed to tyranny.

Under his governance

there's a great disparity in wealth in Wan Prefecture.

If he were to become the emperor

I wonder if it would be a blessing or a disaster for the people of Great Duan.

You must be thinking...

Why would I tell you about such matters?

I'm well aware that

my older brother's intention to rebel is growing stronger by day.

One day...

should he really rebel against me...

I'll need the Muru family to assist me.

Your Majesty, do rest assured.

Muru Shuo pledges to keep Muyun's sovereign safe.

Although he's also a Muyun

I'll take it that Great General Muru has agreed to assist me.

The Muru family has never betrayed our promises.

Which sister is it?

Stop playing around.

Yue Li has asked me to deliver poems to Prince Lu on her behalf.

I really don't have the time to play around with you.

Help!

Who is it?

Get up.

Are you hurt?

Do they dislike me that much?

It's all right. I'll protect you.

Listen up!

I'm Han Jiang.

From now on, Su Yu Ning is under my protection!

You're so candid about meeting a lady in the palace?

Yu Ning, aren't you worried about being punished by the empress?

What are you doing here?

Young lady, you're overreacting.

I'm protecting the Muyun family's future empress.

The palace is packed with guards, so why should you?

He is a Muru.

He can't be offended.

You're from the Muru family?

You've also heard about the prophecy?

Get going. I'll escort you.

You're such a clever child.

Will you promise to come and chat with me every day?

What's so difficult about that?

Think it through before you agree to it.

I never make any promises easily.

Once I do, I always keep them.

If so, drink this up.

What is this?

Heart Wrencher.

Heart Wrencher itself is a harmless weed.

But it has one magical effect.

Once you take it and break the promise you made

its seed will sprout in four hours to feed on your blood and bones.

In 24 hours, no remains are left.

Only blooming flowers are left behind.

You don't dare to drink it?

I, Han Jiang, promise to come and chat with Lin Xiu Man every day!

Since I've made her a promise

I'll never go back on it in this lifetime.

Why would you do it?

Why would it matter to you even if Muyun Sheng died?

If he dies, you can then leave the palace!

You can then be free.

Exactly.

The emperor ordered me to study with the sixth prince.

If he dies, I'll really get to go free.

But then I gave it some thought.

I'm actually reluctant to see him die.

Why?

He's my friend.

That guy might be very boring at times

but for no reason, I sometimes feel as if we share certain similarities.

Lin Xiu Man.

I'm going to tell you a secret about myself.

I...

I was abandoned by my parents.

Lin Xiu Man.

In this world, if a person is even unwanted by his parents...

however radiantly he smiles...

his heart feels the chill.

Muyun Sheng is well fed and clothed in the palace.

It seems as if he has everything he wants.

However, his father refuses to see him.

Moreover, no one will talk to him about his mother.

Despite the many people around him

I still think that he is just all alone.

His heart feels the chill, just like mine.

No.

It's even colder.

I find it strange as well.

It's as if...

It's as if I always know what he thinks.

Others might not understand his actions, but I can.

It's because he...

He's just like you.

Exactly.

That's how it is.

It's as if he's the other me in this world.

She's the other me in this world.

Once upon a time...

there was a lady-in-waiting.

She entered the palace at the age of 14.

She held herself high with dignity.

She considered everyone else to be obsessed with material wealth.

She had so much on her mind and yet no one to talk to.

Hence, she stopped talking to anyone.

It was until she met Consort Yin Rong...

Was that you?

You should leave now.

Female attendant Lin Xiu Man.

It has been my great honor to serve you

Lady Duan Rong, Consort Yin Rong.

As of today, my mission is accomplished.

The empress will surely assign someone else to look after Your Ladyship.

Lin Xiu Man hereby bids you farewell.

Your Highness.

Lin Xiu Man?

Prince Sheng, please forgive me for being late in visiting you.

You're going to tell us about Consort Yin Rong?

It's just...

It might not be a guaranteed cure for Prince Sheng's troubled mind.

I can only tell you honestly about that past secret.

As for how Your Highness will react to it, it is out of my hands.

Young lady.

Please keep watch outside the hall.

This is very important.

No others should overhear us.

Prince Sheng, the rumor is true.

Consort Yin Rong did possess an appearance second to none.

Emperor Ming (Muyun Qin) was extremely fond of her.

However, when you saw Yin Rong that day, she was in such a state...

It's all because of...

She was injured by His Majesty.

That winter 12 years ago...

your father expelled many officials for the sake of Consort Yin Rong.

Just when the political situation was unstable

a person barged into the harem.

Prince Qin's army is right outside the city.

All of them sent me here to ask you.

Will you hand over your sovereign or this woman?

You really are the one who instigated it all.

You made it sound as if I'm good at plotting.

In terms of devising schemes

I'm nothing compared to you, my brother.

Since Yin Rong married into the palace, she has never harmed anyone.

Why do you and all the officials keep picking on her?

She's never harmed anyone?

Why do I think that you've instructed her to harm me?

You were abolished of your title as the crown prince.

Yin Rong played no part in it.

You still refuse to admit it?

You deliberately had this Charmer use her magic on me

to set me up right before Father!

You drank too much!

You behaved inappropriately when you were drunk.

While performing a sword dance, you stabbed Father.

What has Yin Rong got to do with it?

What has she got to do with it?

Those palace attendants who served in the hall that day

are all living a luxurious life now in my jurisdiction, Wan Prefecture.

What do you mean by that?

It's because they knew I only had water that day.

I have the habit to binge drink.

It was Father's birthday banquet.

I was worried that I might misbehave after a few drinks

so I bribed the attendants into swapping the wine with water.

Therefore, every one of them can be my witness.

I wasn't drunk at all.

Who would believe in those servants?

Father didn't believe in them then.

However, if I were to have this made known to everyone now...

Peasants and common folk are very fond of such stories.

The emperor keeps a monster by his side.

It's the will of gods that I overthrow you with Prince Qin.

That's very reasonable.

You either hand over Yin Rong right now to be at my disposal

or summon Prince Qin's army in and hand over your throne.

I think...

you must be very reluctant to hand over this beauty.

If I don't leave the palace after a period of time

Prince Qin's army will come in as well.

Your Majesty.

The world is huge.

It isn't only in the palace that you can own the world.

You're going to kill me?

Are you still thinking about summoning the Muru family to your aid?

The Muru family protects the Muyun sovereign.

Not just Muyun Qins.

You should know...

the difference.

Shi Mu...

It's the Emperor Sword.

It means...

when you gaze at the crossroads in life...

If I were to make a choice...

If I were to make a choice...

You will kill me?

To give the order...

to kill.

I've made a decision.

Your Majesty has made up your mind.

But don't you still remember that I'm one of the Charmers?

Whoever kills me...

shall be engulfed.

I was wrong.

I thought...

I thought the happiness that love brings forth

was what humans would pursue.

Who would have known that humans would forsake happiness?

Instead, you actually crave something that carries no warmth.

Humans...

What exactly is it that you want?

Yin Rong...

Xiu Man!

Lin Xiu Man!

The Charmers carry the basic instinct to strike back in defense

but your mother willed herself to control her powers.

She used her magical powers to hurl the attack back on herself.

All because of her love for your father.

As a result, her powers were diminished.

But she left something behind.

I shouldn't have told you about such a brutal truth.

Although Consort Yin Rong lost her beautiful looks

the beauty in her soul and mind still surpasses everyone in this palace.

There are many complications in life.

In pursuit of simplicity, it takes great will and the courage to give up.

Born as one of the Charmers...

she only goes in pursuit of perfection.

She truly surpasses ordinary folk.

Are you feeling unwell?

Han Jiang, fetch the royal physician.

Lin Xiu Man!

You took the Heart Wrencher?

What is the Heart Wrencher?

Greetings, Your Highness.

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

Are all of my attendants dead?

No, it's just that they obey my orders over yours.

Your Majesty's favorite son is feeling much better now.

I've heard.

Your Majesty cares about him and therefore

you're informed of his news at all times.

However, I gather that Your Majesty has yet to be informed.

The maid who knew of that incident died from the Heart Wrencher.
