I was writing all the time,

and I was juggling deadlines,

and I didn't even notice

that my second love
was taking me away

from my first,

until my wife
asked me for a divorce.

Looking back,

I should have done things
differently.

Writing about love and romance

became a lot harder

when love and romance
disappeared from my life.

Pretty soon, my writing stopped,

and I withdrew from the world.

The truth is,

I had really drifted

from what it was
that I loved about writing

in the first place,

which is seeing the world
through someone else's eyes,

whether that's a character...

or just someone special...

especially at Christmas.
